You are John James Green, mutant vagrant.

The sky is beginning to tilt towards evening as you trail back into the station, reminding you somewhat of the way blood slowly darkens as it dries. You’ve spent the last few hours exploring the Scar in a mostly fruitless endeavor to track down a runaway Gaby. Still, you’re feeling strangely energized, the sun seeming to cling to you even as it wanes down below the skyscrapers that cluster against the horizon.

Hopefully one of the others'll have more luck than you did.

As you make your way down the steps into the station, the sounds of panic rise up to meet you, and your eyes widen in surprise at the scene you find before you.

Gaby stands beside the remnants of last night’s fire, her face streaked with hot, desperate tears, while the three Corsairs currently mooching (technically not mooching, you guess. They did bring food) off your place sit nearby, staring up at her with wide eyes. For a moment, you feel a sense of a relief swell through you, before Gaby glances in your direction and you catch the depth of the fear in her eyes.

“JJ!” Her voice is shrill, crackling slightly. “It’s – it’s Kevin!”

Oh, man.

You listen carefully, a pit of dread slowly yawning open in your stomach, as she describes how she and Kevin were attacked by some weirdo out near the old dumping grounds. As her story stutters toward its end, you’re already wracking your brain for options.

No time to call the others. No time to whip the motley crew before you into shape, either.

“Stay here!” You shout, turning on your heels and running up the steps to the Scar outside, shedding your jacket as you go.

You reach into yourself, pulling your wings out, and are surprised to find the feeling of contortion spread not through your arms, but along your shoulders, your shirt splitting open as a pair of leathery appendages rip from your back. A flourish of metabolic embers swirling through the air as they spread to their full width, and without a second thought, you propel yourself up into the air, the wind screaming in your ears.

You don’t think about the sudden change. You think about being an arrow.

A dark, hot feeling spreads through your chest as you approach the old landfill, the ruins clearing out around it. It’s something almost familial, something like a heart beating beside your own, veins and arteries tangled up alongside yours.

Down below, beside the remnants of a splintered cabinet and a pile of thoroughly-melted tires, you spot a trio of figures, and you… you recognize all three of them. You feel your pupils sharpen as you hone your sight in on them, and you confirm that the one curled up upon the ground is Kevin. Hunched nearby is a figure in a long, heavy coat, a thick reptilian tail protruding from beneath its folds.

And the last one is…

“You!”

He blinks, and glances up at you. And waves.

You feel your chest light up with inner fire.

Typhon. Or Joseph. Whatever.

It’s strange – you feel stronger. You feel that heartbeat mingling with yours, synchronizing with it, filling your limbs with strength. It’s somehow directed at Typhon, not like a knife or an arrow or a sword, but like something more primal, more bone and sinew than steel. You feel almost magnetically charged, swayed subtly but relentlessly toward him.

You try to ignore it, pushing your newfound sensation of strength into your eyes, focusing it into a spear of light. It streaks out over the Scar, more white than blue, somehow brighter and hotter than it’s ever been. The woman in the coat leaps back, scrabbling for safety as the beam pulverizes the debris in her wake, while Typhon merely raises an arm. His eyes flare like stars, and the air seems to curve around him, the beam glancing off an invisible shield.

Swooping down, you beat your wings as powerfully as you can, generating a burst of compressed air that rolls over the debris, forcing both Typhon and his companion to steady themselves against the ground. You glare at the other man – you don’t know why, exactly, but you do – before bringing your hands down on Kevin’s shoulders, your palms adhering to his hoodie.

Without further delay, you hurl yourself back into the sky.

As you tighten your grip on Kevin, you feel the air shift subtly around you, a kind of strange pressure falling across your limbs, threatening to drag you back down to Earth…

It's okay man, nobody is cancer.

I would probably be okay with the idea of granting EXP for art, I just don't think it'd be fair to assign them to specific powers. Mostly because, if those points were assigned but anons still never voted for the power, that'd really screw over whoever spent moneydorrars on commissioning arts.

I think people should get something for either drawing or having art be commissioned, but not X-Points.

Maybe they get Karma points? Or some type of EXP that we can use for traits.

Or with each new piece of art, we roll on a table and see what random cool thing JJ finds. Like money or cool clothes. Or a gun.

Get fucked, Joseph.

You push harder, your wings slamming against the air, generating a thunderous succession of booms. The bones in your limbs creak and shudder in protest, the pressure increasing, a sharp, constant pain spreading through your shoulders. Almost feels like you could tear your wings straight off trying to escape. In the heat of the moment, you barely notice the faint blue glow that spreads through their membranes, smoke beginning to roil off their surface as you push harder and harder, spreading through the air around you like ink.

Suddenly, the pressure seems to cease, and you shoot high into the air, the ruins below dwindling at a rapid pace.

Wobbling slightly (you’re still getting used to the feeling of having six limbs. It’s pretty weird), you head toward the station, your arms tucked under Kevin’s. He hangs limply, still breathing but very much unconscious.

As you slip through the air, you feel a sudden, sharp sensation in the front of your skull – like brainfreeze – and the feeling begins to retreat from your limbs as a voice fills your head.

>It was nice/exhilarating/portentous seeing you again
>I think your wings are great
>don’t worry, we’re not in competition/rivalry/evolution against one another yet
>but there can only be one king in the forest

The voice recedes, and the feeling in your limbs returns.

You steady your grip on Kevin and descend toward the station.

Gaby is waiting outside with Megan and Jubilee. She dashes across the rubble to meet you as you descend to Earth.

“Oh my God! Kevin!”

“Oh God, he’s”–

“He’s gonna be fine.” You say, a little amazed at how confident you sound. You don’t even know what Typhon’s done to him.

Gaby watches nervously as you lay Kevin down, checking him for any obvious injuries. You feel sharp, jagged inconsistencies along his ribs, and his flesh is covered in ugly bruises, but there are no open wounds, save a slight cut along his brow. Biting into your palm, you trickle a bit of your blood into his mouth, Gaby gasping slightly.

“Healing blood, remember?”

She nods quickly, her hands clasped. Heart’s beating fast.

Content that you’ve done what you can, you and Gaby carry him into the station, the Corsairs watching with wide eyes. Gaby sets him down near the fire, her hand around his. You can’t help but feel like something’s amiss as you spend the next few minutes calling your friends, telling them to get back to the station as fast as possible.

What is it? Something’s bugging you, you just can’t –

Then it hits you. The hand Gaby’s holding – Kevin’s hand. It’s bare.

He’s not wearing his gloves.

And Gaby isn’t, last you checked, a pile of ash.

“Gaby.” You say, your voice quiet. She glances up at you. “Kevin’s… his hand.”

She looks down, taking a moment to absorb what you’re saying before it sets in, her eyes widening. She recoils instantly, clutching her hand close to her, and the two of you stare down at Kevin’s silent form.

I got to admit, the kind of loyalty his pet projects(clones at the furnace, the lizard girls?) had towards him looks like some sort of junkie-provider relationship. Does he use his psychic field to mind break people into becoming loyal servants, or is that just a side effect of Typhon being incredibly powerful and affable?

Laura wasn't affected beyond a tough reality check, but Typhon didn't knock her out and put his fingers all over the base of her skull either.

“No, let him rest.”

He’s not looking so great, after all. You’re very much aware of how nasty a set of broken ribs can be – even if you can heal them up within a matter of minutes. That shit still hurts.

A finger taps nervously at your shoulder, and you wheel around on Megan – maybe a little more confrontationally than you meant to, because she backs away slightly. You’re still feeling that vague sense of primordial strength, that clear feeling of purpose, that urged you to dive down and put your claws around Typhon’s throat.

“What?”

“Um…” You’re just about aware of her looking you up and down (it’s hard to tell with those black eyes of hers), and you realize that your wings are still out. Horns, too. “We’ve got, like, a bunch of medical stuff back at boss’ place. I can go grab somma that stuff if you need it…”

Huh. You guess can be less bubbly, sometimes.

“Sure, I’ll let you know if we need it. Thanks.”

Your friends trail back in over the next hour, and you get used to explaining the situation to several teens of wildly different temperament. Lucas is astoundingly quiet, sitting a little aside from Gaby and Kevin, while Noriko fumes silently, tiny electrical arcs playing at her shoulders. Layla sticks close to you.

Laura, when she arrives, glances briefly in Kevin’s direction, before shooting you a meaningful look.

“Joseph.” She states.

You nod. “He prefers Typhon, apparently.”

“…Yes?” She frowns slightly, the bitter tone of your voice seemingly a little lost on her. “But his name is Joseph. How are we responding?”

This should make a perfect opportunity to talk about recruiting new members for the tunnel snakes.

Typhon ain't gonna be easy to deal with.
>>
“For now, we’re sitting tight.”

You have no idea what Typhon did to Kevin, and while you don’t exactly want to see the fallout to it, you’re pretty sure you’re supposed to. As a decent human being, or something.

A thought strikes you.

“Well, I guess, uh, someone should go tell the X-kids about this.” You sweep your gaze across the assembled mutants, choosing to ignore the small chuckle that ‘X-kids’ elicits from Megan. “Noriko? Would you mind?”

She glares at you, and you can’t help but step back slightly, but most of the anger in her eyes clearly isn’t directed at you, because she grabs her coat and heads out, mumbling something about needing a walk anyway.

“How did he do this?” Asks Laura, her eyes set on Kevin.

“Dunno.” You reply. You really don’t. “It sounded like he was in my head for a second. Maybe something to do with that?”

Laura glances up at you, seeming slightly surprised.

“What?” You ask.

She looks down, away from you, and her brow creases slightly.

“It’s… nothing. I must have been mistaken.” She pauses. “When we last met, he demonstrated some telekinetic ability, but I believed that his suggestive powers were biological in nature. It did not feel like telepathy.”

“Feel? You know what telepathy ‘feels’ like?”

She nods slowly. “Resistance to telepathic probing was part of my training. This felt different.”

You’re about to press her for a bit more detail when Gaby starts, her tail slapping against the tiled flooring, and you realize that Kevin is waking up.

>[X] Ask him what still hurts first

You crouch down beside Kevin as his eyes creak open.

The first thing he does, before you can get a word in, is cough – a lot. The second thing he does is roll over, screw his eyes shut, and throw up a pool of mercifully clear stomach fluids. Guess someone’s cleaning that up later.

Quickly, Gaby leans in to steady him as his eyes dart frantically around the station, his breath coming and going in long, obviously pained gasps.

“Kevin?” His eyes focus on you. “Can you tell me where you’re hurt?”

Immediately, he presses a hand against his chest, and a stream of incoherent gribberish emerges from his mouth. Well, you guessed that much.

You give him a moment to compose himself.

“Did… do you remember what Typh– what that guy did to you?”

He stares at you for a second, his eyes squinting, before he opens his mouth, and instead of words, there is another spree of jerky, nonsensical sounds. His eyes widen and he feels at his jaw, as if expecting to find something wrong with it. He tries to talk again, this time more slowly, putting more effort into each syllable, but the sounds don’t assemble into anything you can assign meaning to.

Eyes widening, he glances between you and Gaby, a panicked, uncomprehending expression on his face.

“Layla…” You’ve… you’ve got a bad feeling about this… “Layla, could you, uh, could you just grab me anything with writing on it?”

“W-what?”

“Just do it, alright?”

She scampers off, picking a packet of chicken out from the plastic bags assembled near the entrance, and brings it back to you. You hold it up in front of Kevin, levelling your finger upon the cooking instructions on the back.

“Can you read this, Kevin?”

He squints, trying for a moment to sound out the words, before giving up. His heart starts to hammer in his chest, breath quickening, a sense of panic gripping his entire body as realization sets in.

Keep a slow and steady voice.

>>
A couple of random thoughts
-Joseph now prefers his nickname "Typhon"? or is it just that nhe prefers when lowly peasants(such as Laura and Kimura) address him to use his title and not his inner, sacred named?
-When Laura first found Typhon, he looked like a chiseled, stunning cobalt GOD. And now he looks like JJ, what the hell? does he have Genetic Mimicry or just a JJ skin so to speak? should we develop some sort of password so our allies know it's JJ the real deal and not that fake cat Typhon?
-Obvious but I feel it needs to be spelled out. Our powers were amplified when we were near Typhon. Is that other power of his, or was it a result of our spooning together? Does that mean Typhon's abilities are also enhanced whenever near JJ?
-Megan now knows we got Healing vitae. So either have a word with her or everyone in the Scar will know about it.
-Typhon doesn't seem to be actively affecting the minds of people near him. His is some sort of passive aura of wellness. The problem is that now i don't know what the fuck was up with the phone incident. Does he have somebody who can phreak targets apart through cellphones, or is it a new threat altogether?

Let's start things off simple. Start with some basic yes or no questions. Ask him if his chest hurts, if he remembers who everyone is, and then have someone go and get the psychic ladies.

Well, his previous understanding of language seems gone or mixed up. His current ability to communicate with language seems shot, though.

Kevin’s entire body language seems to bristle, speaking of nothing but steadily mounting panic.

“Okay, it’s – it’s gonna be fine.” You rest a hand on his shoulder, careful to avoid touching anything remotely exposed. “You’re not badly hurt, okay? You’re just…”

You’re not sure. He can see it in your eyes, too.

“Let’s… let’s try again…”

You spend a short while listening to Kevin making basic, single-note utterances. It seems that he can hear you, and even understand you, just fine, but something gets lost in translation when you ask him to copy the sounds you’re making. “Ah” comes out as “bech”, “oh” turning into “gah”. He’s not deaf or mute, and he’s not lost all understanding for language… but he himself has no capacity for it, it seems.

Christ. This is fucked up.

Soon enough, Kevin has given up, and sits with his head in his hands, tears clustered below his eyes.

You don’t know what to do.

Luckily, someone else does. Taking a deep breath, Gaby places a hand down on Kevin’s, her bare skin (and, you guess, fur) touching his. His eyes widen in shock and, momentarily, terror, and he makes to recoil, but almost immediately it sinks in that he’s not hurting her, and he relaxes slightly, staring down at her hand in befuddled silence.

He looks up at her, and the tears start to roll down his cheeks.

Relief washing over you, you step back, giving them some space.

You feel Lucas’ eyes on you, and glance down at him.

“What’re we gonna do now?”

I think we still have that sample? It might pay to get another look taken at it. According to Joseph, he isn't currently a threat, and we do not appear to be ready to kick that beehive.

Knowledge would be handy right now, and if the lady with Joseph was connected to those two weirdos that were with freaky glass-powers mutant, then Moon Knight will have some degree of interest in this as well.

lets see, drawing attention to the mutant drugs problem will not go well, as they will 'solve' it by just removing the mutants. To progress mutant standing in the state of new york is going to need a dire event caused by something none mutant, being solved by a mutant, in a public display that is irrefutable to slander. Then capitalize upon it with a political leader to at least make mutants acceptable within city limits under the law.

The words of your father, practically fire upon his mouth, clamor in your head.

“When Noriko gets back, you guys need to set down a meeting.” You say, trudging toward the stairs, retrieving your jacket. You turn your gaze toward Megan. “Can I trust you to tell Jono about this?”

She nods quietly.

“Good. Tomorrow we should get in touch with Julian’s lot, see if those creepy triplets can help with…” You glance over at Kevin. “…with our problem.”

You shrug your jacket on. It’s not as warm as it’d be with a shirt underneath, but there is a fire inside you today, and it seems in little danger of blinking out anytime soon.

“Um, okay…” Lucas says, slowly, maybe even a little cautiously. “What about you?”

“I’m going out.”

And you do. You trudge up the stairs, out into the cold desolation of the Scar, and you feel your entire body quake not with cold, but with a terrible, all-pervading heat.

You have to deal with this. That's the truth of things. It comes to you in shades of clarity you rarely experience, a sort of grim certainty gripping your thoughts, working them against the heat, slimming them into fine, razor-sharp implements. Things to cut, and smash, and cleave. This thing with Joseph is the great, central eye of things, of events, and you cannot ignore it. If you do, it will always be watching you, always be there, and eventually, it will crush you flat against the earth.

But before you can focus on it, you need to get the chaff out of your way.

the mutant drug problem has nothing to do with the willing actions of mutants, and there's no way a liberal leaning media would spin it that way. The drug 'problem' isn't that Jack is being used, it's what/how Jack is being manufactured.

The media in this world is not liberal leaning. It is purge the mutant, burn the heretic.

Again, stating anything to do with it while its still on mass production will backfire. Its a bad idea. Wait until we have suppressed it enough before leaking that info.

Jack can only be produced from mutants, and is only a problem when used by mutants. Therefore, remove the mutants, you remove jack. That big concentration in the exclusion zone? get rid of them.

The line of logic is a very practical and cold hearted one that will be called for in a world were mutant hunting is like a sport to some people and is tolerated by the rest.

You vanish into the fading light, becoming one with the bustle of New York as you make your way out of the Scar.

The Owl operates out of lower Brooklyn, mostly. Spotting his thugs is harder than usual, seeing as they don’t fall into easily classifiable ethnic stereotypes, and are mostly comprised of the scum drifting upon the surface of New York’s underbelly – the scrapings and the chaff, the bits that nobody else wants. The wood chippings. You run hit up a few spots before finding anything useful; a bunch of the crusties under an old overpass point you in the direction of the guys that sold them their cocaine. You can smell it on them – it’s the impure stuff, full of little inconsistencies that’ll clog up your arteries and fry your brain. The kind the Owl peddles.

You find the dealers loitering in an alley off to one side of Church Avenue, next to a 7/11. Once you get close enough, it’s mostly just a matter of following your nose. The evening has drained away into night, the clouds assembled in dark, speckled red masses above. They’re an odd pair – one of them standing about a foot taller than you, all dreadlocks and corduroy, a cigarette perched between his lips. The other is broader, balder, and overall more intimidating.

“Hey.” You wave slightly as you approach, eliciting a bemused stare from the pair. “Hey, dudes. Where’s the Owl?”

They glance at one another briefly.

“Uh... What?” The taller one.

“The Owl.” You clarify. “Leland Owlsley. Where is he?”

The shorter man bristles, the movement reminding you entirely of the hood of a cobra as it unfurls, and spits a blob of unsavoury fluids off to one side of the alley.

“Man, get gone. You not buying, you can fu”–

I am not against finding a good journalist and eventually getting the story out there, eventually.

But right now it is the repercussions ontop of everything else that are hard to predict how it goes. Staying quiet till we have a lid on it to claim its use has stopped in the biggest mutant hotspot will make moving mutants on less viable a solution as it turns it from a crime in a place to lots of small ones everywhere.

No it doesn't, its a perfect analogy for comparative strength levels in a simple and easy to understand manner.
There is still the random element. Having even one guy with nuke level powers in terms of damage is going to be a sketchy situation. Controlling it let alone using or practicing with it, even if by some miracle its not a guy who is an idiot or a jackass.

Note, the analogy could just straight up ignore those who don't have an offensive power, it still applies to those who do. Unless joshua tree is stated to allow us to control what fruit causes what power.

>>41549894
Nuke levels in terms of damage. What did Cypher do to be compared to that level of destruction to even make your comment valid? I would actually like to read that issue, it seems interesting as a concept.
>>
>[X] Break his arm.

>(1/2)

His arms breaks with astounding ease. You know you’re strong, but somehow, you don’t think you’ll ever get quite used to just how strong you are.

He screams, his knees buckling as the pain and shock all but sweep him off his feet, and you catch his friend fumbling at something in his jacket in the corner of your eye. Judging by his body language, it’s painfully obvious that he’s drawing a gun. You watch as he pulls it from his jacket, a cocktail of fear and exhilaration and secret longing for blood shifting through his eyes, and lean backwards as he fires the first shot. The bullet slams into the wall beside you.

Your arm lashes out, tearing the pistol – as well as a sizeable portion of his hand – away from him. His screams join those of his friend.

You slam the short man up against the wall, a swift kick cracking the knee of the other inwards, dropping him to the ground.

You stare into the man’s eyes, your chest full of fire and your horns seeming to almost burn against your flesh, and ask him again.

This time, he is significantly more polite.

Apparently, the Owl, despite popular street mythology, does not live in the sewers, or an abandoned warehouse, or the remains of a decrepit old church. He has a house on Clarendon Road – a big house, with a sort of rustic, sun-dried brick aesthetic to it. The kind of place you’d settle your family if you had any family left. It’s got a nice little porch out front, two very nice floors, what looks like an extensive garden round the back, and two black vans parked outside.

You watch from the opposite side of the street, shifting your vision through the thermal spectrum. There’s a whole lot of hot stuff at work in those vans – electrical crap, probably. At least three people in each too.

Sort of worrying. But you’ve never felt more aware – not to mention as strong! – as you do tonight. Six dudes will not be a huge problem. You assume Leland must have a slightly more robust security system at work in the house itself.

Cypher never did anything with a nuclear level of destruction, he was pointing out the ludicrousness of your original analogy in comparing mutant powers to ordinance.

And as I had said, a more apt analogy would be like handing out stuff from a random magical grab bag, like Santa Claus's bag from the Santa Clause. One person may get a towel, another a flamethrower, or the chance of getting a weaponized mutant power is low and getting a toy power is higher. We don't know the probability, it could be one in ever seventy five Joshua Fruit consumers gets a weaponized power or even one in a thousand.

Whistling quietly, you put out a few select tones that any passing bird will recognize as something they can chatter to. It’s not long before you snag a nice, fat pair of crows, their beaks snapping with weird, avian eagerness. They really want to talk about shiny stuff – that’s what most birds want to talk about, really.

Not owls, though. Owls are creepy.

A brief discourse reveals that there’s ‘something’ on the windows to Leland’s house that kills dead any bird that tries to sit on the windowsills. Nice. That’s real nice, Leland. Deathraps on your goddamn windows.

Whatever.

Satisfying the crows with a short discussion on the merits of spoons, you turn your attention to the vans, closing your eyes and letting your ears draw a picture of them from the inside. Like you thought, there’s three people in each. Computers thrum and flicker and inside. You can’t get a read on anything like weaponry, but you’re going to assume they’re armed.

If you want to know anything else about them, you’re gonna have to peel one open.

For one - Crusty confirmed most powers are "useful", so the more innocuous are out (though benevolent ones obviously exist). That said, they don't all have to be dangerous. *Enough* of them have to be.
>>
>>41550304
We don't know the probability of getting a weaponized power versus a power like Mystique or Morph's, it could be all the powers we'd ever see are good except for one or two bad, and some of those good powers might effectively neutralize the dangerous/bad ones

I will assent that those aren't variables we can control, but that doesn't mean it will inherently result in blowing up in our faces.

>[X] Sneaky sneaky.

Bearing in mind that the windows are deathtraps, and you don’t know who exactly is parked a few feet from Leland’s porch, you fade into invisibility and creep your way round the back of the house, easily clearing the fence that partitions it from the rest of the street. Like you thought, the guy’s got a nice garden, complete with a dazzling array of petunias, carnations and loti (also, gnomes. Little gnome guys). You’ve no idea how he gets them to bloom in this shitty weather.

Making your way up to the back door, you press your ear against the woodwork.

You can hear a TV on upstairs. Sports – tennis, you think.

People are awake. Plural people. You count one, two, three…. three sets of footsteps. All in the same room.

The back door has an electronic lock, but your touch makes short work of it, frying out the wiring in a burst of electrical sparks.

The innards of the house are surprisingly pedestrian. Cozy, even. You emerge into a large, well-equipped kitchen-slash-living-room.

Voices murmur overhead.

Precisely, and we don't know what timetable or wheel of fortune the fruit operates on in how many 'dangerous' powers the fruit doles out versus how many useful, utility powers. Well...yeah. But what are the chances of Crusty just handing us that? The risk seems an inherent part of the power, to offset how ridiculously awesome it is otherwise.

We both know, narratively, that is some game-changing shit. That means serious consequences. Dunno if we want to go for that sort of genre shift, though it probably depends on how the T3 shift goes.

Regardless, we have other shit to work towards right now. We still can't even reliably fight a sentinel.

Reminder that while Moonknight may or may not be fine with us ending the Owl, the other members like Daredevil and Blackman will throw a super hero hissy fit. So will Pete if he finds out somehow.

You tread carefully as you creep your way up the stairs. You’ve burgled enough houses to know that stairs can be creaky and when they’re creaky things can get leaky. Things like your face, after some dude has caught you sneaking around and punched your nose in.

The voices get louder as you emerge out into the second floor.

– “this guy, this guy thinks he’s some kinda demon or something, something big. But he’s nothing. In this city, he’s nothing. He’s”–

That’s the Owl’s voice – you’ve only seen him once, but you still remember that scratching, superior tone.

Are they talking about one of their rivals?

Whatever. Doesn’t matter.

You close in on the heartbeats. They’re in a room toward the front of the house, the window on one side overlooking the street outside. It’s a studio, or a drawing room, or something – whatever it is, the curtains are shut tight and the whole place is dominated by a large central desk. Three male silhouettes crowd around the map laid out across its surface.

Two of them – the two in suits – you don’t recognize, though they look far too clean-cut to be your run-of-the-mill dealers. The third, though, clad in a heavy green coat and notably shorter than the other two, with tiny, beady eyes and a nasty, scrunched-up sort of face, is the man you’re looking for. Leland Owlsley, the Owl.

Standing in the doorway, you slip back into the visible spectrum.

It actually takes a little while for them to notice. When they do, though, you can’t help but wonder what kind of silhouette the half-dark of the house makes of you, because Leland’s squinty little eyes widen at the sight of you, his heart skipping a beat.

“…Carl, ready my Prius.”

“Don’t bother, Carl.”

The man you presume to be Carl, lurching awkwardly around the table in an effort to get to you, takes a blast of blue-white light to the chest. The force of the beam slams him straight into the opposite wall, woodwork cracking noisily at the impact. The other one manages to draw his pistol, the first and second shots passing over your shoulder as you duck to one side, rushing toward him. You don’t think about how close they are to tearing you open – how an inch lower, an inch slower, and you’d be bleeding all over the place (again).

You feel stronger than that. Faster than that. More you, less you. More of your best parts, less of the chaff.

Closing in in the blink of an eye, you swipe the weapon out of his hand, a fist to the gut propelling him several feet into the air and all but slamming the guy through the wall behind him.

Your danger sense shrieks in the back of his brain, and you twist about, bringing your arms up just in time as Leland himself pounces over the desk at you, a set of dark, disturbingly long nails outstretched. They sink deep into your arms, the pain slamming through you like a drug, and you let his weight bear you down, your back hitting the floor hard. You see a flash of sadistic glee pass over his face before you tuck your legs in under him and, with no small amount of enjoyment, plant both feet straight across his chest.

>(2/3)

The impact pushes a few flecks of blood from his mouth. He hits the ceiling, his head slamming hard against the old oak, before falling straight back down into your arms. You roll aside, grabbing him by the collar the moment he hits the ground, and slam him against the opposite wall, the fury coursing through you, the sound of bones breaking turning to music in your ears. You heave him back, a shrill, frightened cry filling the room, before smashing him one last time into the same wall.

Keeping him pressed there, you glare down at the shorter, bloodier, suddenly sort of pathetic man, the rage in your guts feeling like it could tear its way out and burn the whole house to ash.

“Who the shitting hell’re you, kid?” He coughs it out between mouthfuls of blood, eyes narrowed up at you. “Some kinda bargain-bin Smaug?”

You feel embers on your breath. The Owl sucks in a loud, desperate gulp as you close your hand around his throat, lifting him up against the wall. When your voice comes out it’s like you if you were a demon.

“There’s nothing bargain-bin about me, old man.”

You turn your gaze towards the other two men, the blood pounding in your ears. One of them – not-Carl – is managing to make a slight attempt at getting up, but it’s not working out all too well for him.

“I want you all to understand – the Owl is gone.” You feel the fire exploding in you, churning, roaring. You can only hold it in so long – it’s amazing that you’ve done so for so long, really. You can’t be blamed for just one moment of weakness. One moment of triumph. “This isn’t your territory anymore. It belongs to”–

Disgusting.

obvious samefagging

Hmmm, you know what, I'd say a numbered vote between the highest scorers IS appropriate. It'll have to be in another thread, though, as this one is circling the drain.

I'll make one momentarily.
>>
>>41551958
it actually isn't, but nice ass pull.
>>41551934
go count yourself, then.
>>
>>41551958
>>41551867
And this isn't? It even has an added period
>>
>>41551989

Will that thread be just the naming, or is this a double thread night?
>>
>>41551748
[ ] Haphazard.
>>
>>41551999
all the names have periods dipshit

check CJ's post
>>
>>41551999
Added period? The choices given all have periods at the end.
>>
>>41552003
Naming, maybe two more posts, and then talkback.

Okay.

Not sure why we have to vote, though.

Vagrant has 9 votes. Seemingly the most out of the others.

my mistake, I'm farsighted as fuck, the period I saw was the one I had to squint to see

two arrows you might have an argument (copy paste text does auto greentext) but 3?

>>41552042
samefagging you silly billy
>>
>>41551999
It's supposed to.
>>
>>41552050
>>41552007
Why are you still voting?
>>
>>41552070

8 Votes then.

Still more than the others.
>>
>>41552042
because fuck you, a lot of those votes were clearly samefagged. Haphazard is waifu approved and better sounding
>>
>>41552083
then why are you so afraid of a more secure vote?

it happens when you highlight the whole line and click reply while using 4chanX. you obviously don't, making you an invalid pleb whose opinions aren't worth half a bitcoin.
