Your pods watch in silence over Gemini as the news of the day unfolds before you. The Parliament building is filled with activity, with what looks like a large and luxuriously decorated cargo shuttle descending from above, flanked by several Union gunships. It lands with a hiss of compressing hydraulics and the underside descends slowly with a massive hulk held within. The camera catches glimpses of a massive shell covered in ornate carved symbols and vibrant clothe wrapped about the spines and pillars of bone. Small robotic drones crawl over it like crabs on a reef, and a small army of robotic drones, each with the tether linking to some support beneath the creature, moves out around it as it stirs.

Two arms, each like slender construction cranes in their own right, extend upwards, and then outwards, planting firmly on the ground as it drags itself forward on the hovering sled. The echoing bellow from the hollow tubes on its shell can be heard even from the circling news air craft.

Near the bottom of the news screen the headline flashes as it updates. “Valen representative arrives offering support for Alder (G) and her opposition to Tory led proposal.”

There is a burst of radiation, and the Cortez returns to your mind. A pod within the New Port system moves to intercept, and you rejoin Michael within his quarters, your drones informing you of the events you had missed.

Michael slept through nearly the entire journey, falling fast asleep almost as soon as you had left his mind. He holds himself in a loose ball beneath the tight covers of his hammock with his head resting on your spectral form’s illusory lap. He is half awake when there is a sudden beep from one of his bags. Michael shuts his eyes tightly and lets out a frustrated groan as he reaches for the bag, your figure vanishing into the pillow it actually was.

"Yes." He says flatly.

"Agent Devon, are you sleeping? It's the middle of the day!" It's the voice of Killinger. The Cortez had an A-class relay, Michael remembers. Even in the expanse, there is no escape. He looks to a clock, it shows two times, the top one labled 'Gemini Subjective' and the lower one 'shipboard subjective'.

"Sir, we just came out of warp. It's hardly oh-five hundred."

"Oh, sorry. Wait, Jesus man, just what kind of ship did you get for that kind of warp-lag?"

"A mail runner. Used to be a smuggling ship. Did you need something, sir?" Killinger is somewhat take aback for a moment.

"I need you to send some of the data you had on this election cycle to my campaign manager. Something's just come up and it's a load of bullshit. A goddamn Valen rep just showed up, in person. Somber pool, I think was his name." Michael thinks for a moment.

"Her."

"What?"

"It's mating season. Somber was male last season."

"Who the fuck cares? Either way the goddamn gator is tossing its weight around. Told the press they opposed the bill."

"That's good isn't it? Public opinion is against Valen intervention in parliament. They hate it when they show up with an opinion."

cont.
>>
>>41495331
"That's exactly fucking it. That giant piece of shit showed up and started making a big ado about the bill, and then every Tory in the building gets a visit from a puppet with six hundred thousand credits and a letter saying we have their support."

"So that's even better."

"Don't be dumb, Devon. When a Valen gives you something, you're going to have it held over your head until the day you die, and usually it will be the same Valen that puts you in the ground. Sure, we can probably expect a lot less resistance now, but there are strings attached. I need your notes sent to my office right away so we can try to figure things out and see just how we're going to end up paying for this shit."

"I'll have the files sent as soon as possible, sir." Michael says, nearly falling back to sleep with the earpiece still on.

"Good. We're going to need to handle this carefully." Killinger says, and cuts the call.

After several short attempts to fall back asleep, Michael glances to the door, where you stand expectantly. He forces himself up, briefly fighting against the straps of the low-G hammock before finding the release and clumsily flopping to the floor. Your fly sits on the ground inches from his face as he lands in slow motion, making the fall not nearly as painful as it is embarrassing. It tilts its head several times, cleaning its antennae with its claws.

"Don't mock me." He says to it dryly. "I bet you don't even need sleep." The fly lets out a soft squeak and it hops atop his head, then takes flight. He sighs before getting himself up, slowly and carefully, and then skipping awkwardly to the door.

The door slides open and he skips out, promptly running into a short, stout looking man almost half his size and twice his mass, bouncing off the small bundle of muscles like a ball against a brick wall. He hits the door just as it closes and starts into a spin when the man grips him by the collar.

"Whoa there, cowboy." He says with a laugh as he plants Michael back on his feet as if propping up a styrofoam cutout. "Skip, don't hop or jump. That's a good way to kiss the deck and not much else. Name's Theodore, Theodore Calhoun, and I'd say you're the gov'ment man we're bringing judging by your foot work, no offense."

The man is covered in hair, and his shoulders are nearly as wide as he is tall, with arms as thick as tree trunks and a wafting scent of whisky and oil. He's face is covered in a large beard that reaches his chest, and he is holding his clothes under his arm, standing naked save for a towel.

"If you're planning on a shower, it's got room for plenty. No room for privacy on a ship this size." He lets out a hearty, bellowing laugh. "But if ya like I can give you first dibs, at least till you get yourself sorted."

"Uh, thank's. My name's Michael Devon."

They shake hands, and Michael is sent briefly airborne. Theodore then bounds into the air with the grace of a bird, vanishing into the ladder's tube. Michael quickly gathers his things and heads for the shower.

As Michael, clean and dressed, skips from the shower, he is nearly run over by Calhoun's stride as he rushes in. Michael quickly adjusts himself, taking pride in his ability to stay upright, and makes his way to the rec room. There is a bulkhead separating each segment of the hab module, so that in the event of a hull breach only a portion would suffer decompression. He worms his way through the airlock as it spins open and finds a figure behind an old fashioned looking flat screen monitor, with a strange clacking sound of an analog keyboard.

As the door spins shut with a hiss behind him he hears a sharp click and a hiss that quickly shifts to a growl. An eyeless creature hauls itself up over the back of a chair, pointing its blank, gaunt face at him like a weapon. Its jaw opens sideways, and the lower jaw splits again, revealing rows of razor sharp teeth and a set of dexterous looking mandibles set along the lower two jaws. They click as they rub against each other, a green, syrupy venom dripping from a set of fangs along the end. Michael lunges back, hitting the wall and landing on the ground almost faster then the gravity should allow. A sharp whistle from behind the antique computer seems to put the creature at ease.

"Coco." He says softly as he holds out a hand. It swiftly lunges back to its master and presses its featureless face against his palm. Its small mane of thick, cartilage-like fibers jiggle in the air with glee and it nuzzles itself under his arm, resting its head in his lap as he scratches its lower jaws. Its hind leg wiggles.

"Coco just likes to put on a show. You can pet him if you want." The man says. Michael's heartbeat pounds in his head and his ears feel hot from the blood flow.

"What- what in the fuck-"

"You've never seen a shade hound?" He says. Their from the dark side of Corbin. Amazing trackers, and loyal guards. Isn't that right, Coco?" He asks the hound. It lets out a short whinny. "Of course, in the wild they used to have a big coat of fur. They looked a more friendly that way, but they'd overheat in above-freezing temperatures. When they went extinct in the wild, locals started modifying the ones they had in captivity to get rid of the hair. You won't find a better pet in known space."

Michael slowly pulls himself back to his feet, still pressed against the wall.

"They track by sound and scent, by the way. He can hear your heartbeat. It's making him nervous."

"Making him nervous?" Michael says. "How they let that thing on the ship?"

"Don't be silly, I'd never go anywhere without my Coco." The man says. He quickly looks at his computer. "You must be agent Devon. I'm Nathan, it's a pleasure." He says. "Things really must be important if the Union was willing to let me out."

"I read your file, but how do you know my name? Did the comman-"

"Oh no, I just read your file. I have it right here if you want to look it over. Nabbed it before we hit warp and had it decrypting ever since. Only just finished about an hour ago, actually."

The hound's whiskers snap up at attention and its head quickly turns to face the door. It opens a moment later and a man drifts through with practiced grace. He vaults himself to his feet with one hand, a can of steak in the other. As he stands up Coco lets out a short, yelping growl. The man returns it with a growl of his own, and the hound moves back beneath Nathan's arm.

The man turns to Michael, sizing him up as he sucks from the container of processed food. He stands a full head over Michael, with a shaved head and a square, pallid face that looks like it was carved from marble. His arms are covered in the familiar ports and surgical scars of a drop trooper, as well as a number of additional scars that cover his arms like a resume.

"Shade hounds are pussies. It's scared of anything that's not afraid of it." He takes another sip of his meal. "You look scared shitless." He turns to Nathan and asks, "Hey, Decker, who's the beanbag?"

"Special agent Michael Devon, from BFI. He's the reason we're all here." He says as he returns to his computer. The drop trooper turns back to Michael.

"I'm not impressed." He says, and he slowly sits into a foam couch that struggles to secure him. "Name's Corporal Mauser." He says. You expect something to follow up but he simply sucks the bag of liquid steak dry in silence.

"How'd you take care of that... thing while in prison?" Michael says. Nathan looks up briefly.

"Had to get a friend to take care of him. They're hypoallergenic, and they don't eat much, so it wasn't a problem." The hound sends a thin tongue whipping out of its mouth, sending up its face like a windshield wiper, and it lets out a small grumble of satisfaction, exhaling an odor of yogurt and dead cat in the process. Michael turns to Mauser.

"So, Corporal. Do you have a first name?"

"I do." He says. Michael waits for an elaboration that never comes.

"Uh, so what is it?"

"Conrad." He says. You feel like you're pulling teeth.

"Well, Corporal Mauser, can I call you Conrad?"

"No."

"Corporal Mauser, how did you end up here, exactly?" The man blinks.

"I was ordered here. I am here to protect you from physical harm, especially against a particular drop trooper." He stands up, crushing the empty can in his hand absentmindedly. "I am here to do a job, and I intend to do it, but with all due respect, agent Devon, I am not your friend."

He proceeds to walk to the door, passing through with a quick stride. As the door spins shut Nathan looks to Michael.

"Don't take it personally, he doesn't seem to like anyone. Just an asshole like that." He types out something on his keyboard and spins the computer around. "Now, if you want to know about anyone on the ship, you just ask me." He says, pointing to Mauser's file. "Says here he's a decorated drop trooper. A very, very decorated drop trooper. His file reads like a war novel and his resume is big enough to fill a cemetery." Nathan leans in close. "And to top it off, I heard, can't confirm but heard, he once killed a uh..." He pantomimes several jerky, robotic movements and spins his finger beside his head. "You know, coo coo clockwork killbot?"

"Ah ah, let's not, you know, talk too loudly about that, please."

"How did you..." Michael starts, "wait, are you even cleared for that kind of information." Nathan grins.

"I am absolutely not." He leans back and his hound rests back in his lap. "And I also have no idea what you're talking about. Full mods are illegal, you know." He lets out a chuckle. Coco sneezes.

Michael nods slowly. "Right. How exactly did you 'hear' this, and, theoretically speaking, why would he need to kill something like that, not that such a thing exists, obviously, because they don't"

"Oh of course they don't, but, purely based on what I heard, as a story, a little fable that is in no way based on fact, those, totally made up and non-existent troopers don't tend to play nice with others." Nathan leans back and steeples his fingers, clearly enjoying the discussion.

"Long story short, someone wanted to bring a ship down on a city on Eridani. Conrad ended up being the only guy between the ship's controls and whoever wanted to bring it down. The ship was destroyed by the end of it, and it crashed a few kilometers off its mark. According to the story, he was the only survivor." He shrugs innocently. "But it's just a tall tale. A legend bigger then the man, which is surprising in this case."

Michael looks back to the hatchway through which Conrad exited. "Good story." He says. "I guess I'll see you later then." and he walks to a ladder hatchway, carefully making his way to the spine of the ship.

The spine is in zero-gravity, which Michael quickly discovers is easier to move in, but far more difficult to move in a way that doesn't look like a cat standing on ice with a set of beanbags tied to its paws. He does't so much as glide, but flounder his way to the bridge where his velcro slippers offer some modicum of relief.

There is a man in the uniform of a medical officer, although it has the tags of a navigation officer as well. "We're scheduled for braking maneuver at oh-eight hundred. Astrological report shows debris on our course." He says as he manipulates the hologram in front of him.

"Thank you, Doctor Mordey. Please get Bedrock on the comm once we get within a light hour and alert them of our request to dock." Commander Grey replies. She is a tall and slender woman, impeccably dressed in a well-pressed service jumpsuit. She is standing with her own velcro shoes beside the command couch, her hands held behind her as she picker her palm with her thumb. The door announces Michael's arrival with a loud and unnecessary whooshing sound as it closes and the commander spins on her heels with a motion so fluid you could swear she was standing in full gravity.

"Agent Devon. I assume you slept well. Warp lag can be hard on people. Next time we plot a course I'll be sure to let you know the estimated dilation so you can set your schedule accordingly. We will be arriving at Bedrock soon, although local debris clouds are slowing our approach. Fortunately the Cortez is a fine ship, top of the line and fastest in her class. We will arrive ahead of schedule despite the delay."

He doesn't have to install himself yet. But we open a doorway now to step through later, possibly.

I don't think he'd be capable of detecting Theseus in general, but he might be able to detect a slight hiccup, or stutter, in the system, as he overwrites himself into the system.

He just has to not be paying attention when it happens. Or be parasited.
>>
Asking the captain about surveillance in the ship and around the ship would be suspicious.

But asking Decker about how much he's accessing the ship surveillance feeds that he obviously has already accessed for himself, that's a much better level of sleaze. Maybe bring that up later.
>>
The lone fly's senses should be able to detect all the cameras' and mics' positioning.

But it can't risk the shade hound smelling it, so having it ride in Michael's pocket as he does a round of the ship to detect how everything is wired together isn't viable.

You've got an impressively tight ship here Commander. Do you have a family history of naval service?
>>
>>41497522
That would bait out the relation to the late Trevor Grey who accidentally, brutally, blew himself up in nuclear flames while combing his hair.

But let's not ask that right now. Only so many hours in the thread.
>>
>>41497354
"That sounds wonderful, actually, would it be possible to connect my data pad to the ship to keep it up to date?"

"Absolutely not." She says. "With that Decker aboard we're running all the same quarantine procedures that we would in the presence of Unity forces." She says his name with disgust. "He has already disrupted our operation more than once. Randomizing the controls for the beverage dispenser, attempting to modify the rotation of the hab ring, and even altering the alarm threshold for the engineering bay, convincing the chief engineer that he had taken a lethal radiation dose because he thought Calhoun's reaction was 'funny'." She brings her lip up in disgust. "He is a menace, and there will be no networking on this ship so long as he is aboard."

"That's unfortunate." Michael says. Grey raises an eyebrow, as if doubting if the sympathy is genuine.

"It is."

"I was curious about our contact, however. The paperwork on him was still going through when I last looked." She looks over a small wrist band at the question, and it projects a small hologram.

"Yes, another model citizen, at your request." She says accusingly. "A mister William B. Anderson. I assume the B stands for bullshit, if you will pardon the language. In fact, I would not be surprised if that was not even his real name. He has a rap sheet across the Union, wanted for all manner of petty crimes, fraud, theft, scams, pyramid schemes, you name it. Quite frankly, he belongs in a prison, not the Cortez. He has yet to gain an arrest warrant in the expanse yet, and hopefully we can get to him before he fixes that."

The hologram shows the a man with slicked back brown hair and an ear-to-ear grin. He's wearing a gaudy, bright purple suit with a gold stud in his right ear. It is almost impossible to see in the image, but you faintly make out the tell-tale scar along the chin, marking the handy work of a face-lifter.

"Will there be anything else?" The commander asks.

"Good. Please make yourself comfortable. We will be arriving in seventeen hours, depending on local traffic." She quickly turns back to the doctor.

"Doctor Mordey, see to it that the drive system is secured properly." She says as her thumb scrapes at her palm behind her back. "We don't want another incident."

"Yes, Commander." He says as he gets up from his console. As he drifts by you get a good look at his face. He is a bronze-skinned man with lanky arms. His face is covered in several chemical burn scars, and his eyes are a pair of unblinking synthetic wafers that shine with an almost iridescent gold when they catch the light. He quickly passes Michael and disappears down the spinal hallway.

"See you next week, doctor!"

"Yea, that god it's end of the shift."

The door chimes as it opens, and your flies observe the human doctor enter his Spinner. It's front wheels are a set of spheres held in front of it, with a rubber rim on one side and a set of thrusters on the other, and it promptly takes to the air vertically on a stream of magnetically charged air. Your flies follow, attaching to the rear bumper as it takes flight.

The doctor's home is in an impressive estate, a large high-rise community with gardens set along the top floor which overflow and dangle over the edge in the form of thick vines. The building itself has a waterfall built along the side cascading to a pool bellow, and the main courtyard offers a varying sports field, using holograms and smart-pavement to turn the blank open courtyard into any number of sporting arenas. It is a tennis court at the moment, and you can see several people playing a game as the spinner touches down on the roof of the parking garage. As the doctor exist the vehicle and makes his way to the elevator, the roof opens and pulls the spinner into the rotating storage bay bellow.

Your flies follow the doctor with the practiced skill of far more dangerous infiltrations than this, and find his apartment on the 28th floor. For your flies, it is simply to maneuver through the vents and the cramped maintenance passageways, but the estate is walled off, secured with a gate and several guards. Strict soliciting signs are posted, and the guards themselves are armed, possibly members of a government security branch, or at least commissioned by the Union.

We can cocoon a fly into a parasite and bring in more flies to check out the other residents for more targets of interest.

I wonder if it's feasible to make a stealthed flying medium-sized drone with a honeypot to carry parasites to and fro.
Would it even be small enough to evade detection?
>>
>>41498110
Nothing is stealthy when it's actively moving, so obviously not. Stealth and camouflage only work when standing still.
>>
>>41498038
Your flies continue to monitor the building, not only for the doctor, but all traffic in and out, waiting for an opportunity, whatever it may be.

Judging by the time, and the speed of things, I think now is a good time to call it for the week. If anyone has any crunch related votes they'd like to bring up we can vote on them, as well as any questions, feedback, comments, ect.
>>
>>41498110
I think it would be easier to just design a parasite with wings. They've already got a mimetic carapace, which is what gives our flies their ability to blend into the background. So if we just sent them into a building with a swarm of flies they would have access to their enhanced senses, and thus be able to infiltrate any location the flies themselves can.

>>
>>41498244
Why would you put cyclotrons on the auxilliary mount? They're designed explicitly for close in point defense, i.e. high rate fire weapons. You've picked the slowest firing weapon we have for that slot. Other than that, it could do with a microfactory, but it looks pretty good otherwise.
>>
>>41498279
They have a microfactory built in.
They will have support of other ships to defend them, as befitting a mostly utility-based flagship.
>>
>>41498176
Sure, you can start building anything you want if you'd like to set up a vote for it.

>>41498195
Great to be back.

The main difference is a matter of stealth, and a matter of inconspicuousness. A cloaked ship is less likely to be detected, while a drop pod is less likely to seem strange, and will most likely either be missed by scans or be dismissed as a meteor shower.

As for the Ask.fm, it really sucks. I'd be willing to use another site if you all had one you think would work better.

>>41498248
If you have anything specific in mind, sure. I don't see why not. Otherwise there will likely be plenty of chances to alter them later if and when you have the Clarke return.
>>
>>41498244
>Auxiliary (x20): Cyclotron Particle Beam 200M
Auxiliary is meant for auto cannon point defense, that's just a fact.
>>
>>41498299
Other ships anon, it's not meant to go in solo.
>>
>>41498244
Wouldn't the swarmers be better off equipped with plasma lances, or did you imagine them to be more of a defensive role?
>>
>>41498261
There is a chance the target will sense the reading, manifesting as a feeling of paranoia and the illusion of distant sounds and voices. The more aware the target is of your attempt, the greater the chance for the target to sense the reading. If the target is fully aware of your capability and intent, it may attempt to resist the reading.
That doesn't sound terribly wise for a drone if we want to keep it hidden, particularly if we want to spy on the most paranoid people in the Union government.
>>
>>41498317
Bear in mind anon I took it from the discussion in past thread. But yes now that I look at it they'd make for pretty effective point defense themselves.
>>
>>41498297
Ok, how about the hybrids should probably have

Second Heart
Acid Glands
Endoskeletal Plating
Semi-Fluid Tissue
Chemical Fabricator
Sting Fingers
>>
>>41498321
A feeling of paranoia and distant sounds is easily dismissed, especially if you're doing the surveilling from safely 50 meters underground in the sewer lines beneath a crowded area where the targets are surrounded by other people who might be making the distant voices.

No one will believe anything is happening, no humans have no frame of reference for this kind of thing to be considered suspicious.

You're spying on the public, anyway, not the paranoid. You're just trying to find those who have guard duty in their off hours. None of which are gonna leap to "someone is reading my mind, by golly gee" or anything but a need to pop some pills to calm themselves down.

>>41498307
I mean personally I'm not opposed to changing it, not like those auxilliary turrets would matter much in the long run. If QM would set up the vote with differing auxilliary turrets we could get it over with fast.
>>
>>41498400
Basically I'm thinking of:
Y, with cyclotron
Y, with autocannon
N
kind of vote
>>
>>41498400
I have seen those arguments, and I personally feel like it would nevertheless be better equipped for the kind of combat it will face, even WITH an entire fleet backing it up, with weapons that can lay down fire faster than cyclotrons.
>>
>>41498299
>>41498400

Plasma Swarmers would be better for attacking enemy ships, however because the aux mounts are filled with cyclotrons, something has to pick up the slack for point defense, regardless of the fact that the Hiveship isn't supposed to be working alone.

Ah, damn.

I hoped there'd be more quests in HQQ vein that I somehow missed.
>>
>>41499375
I know, right? There's this shitstirer making poor attempts at nonsense and here I am thinking I've found more of something I like. It's like being trolled by proxy, or something. There ought to be more large civ quests with character focuses in them, Dead Kings quest dead so damn long ago.
>>
>>41499421
You might want to give some of the civ threads a look sometime, they're pretty much quests-lite. I'm personally a big fan of Ghoul civ quest for many of the same reasons you just mentioned.

Quest Drone specifically mentioned that he looked to AI Quest for inspiration.

I hate to mention my own quest (especially in another quest of all places), but I did the same with Spore Quest. Fortunately I don't feel so bad, since he's following my account on Twitter.

Incidentally, Hive Queen Quest looks pretty great, and I'm glad I got to see it in action for the first time. I need to try and find some time to catch up on it! Also gave me some ideas to consider.
>>
Ayy, threads still up.

>>41499486
I just caught up on spore quest this weekend. Looking forward to sunday

Crunch!

-Replace Advanced Wings w/ Gravity Foils on Support Fluttercraft
-Add radiator tubes to Heavy Warriors, give them all fire sprays as standard weapons
-Exchange Drop Pod Launchers on Heavy Fleet Battleships for Boarding Pod Launchers
-Add Microfactory units to Heavy Fleet Battleships
-Farms on Leeland to cap
-Farms on Raligha to cap
-Tap all bloodroot trees on Raligha
-1k Orbital Electroponics stations in Leeland System

This design would certainly be tough. A good defensive craft for sitting in a place you don't want anything to get close to.

This one seems to have unanimous support already.

In addition, since all weapons cost the same as all other weapons of the same size, I've stopped actively keeping track of which weapons you have. You can just mention if you want to give any drones you are deploying a non-default weapon load out.

PLANETARY INVASION for mother
>>
>>41503206
I really want to hear the communications of the humans when this beast jumps into one of their systems, or even just a sighting in one of the fringe sectors. Imagine the rumors and panic spreading just from grainy images.

I'm still upset we didn't get to listen in on the Commonwealth's chatter after we decimated the Scavs.

>>
>>41503927
All blades can be used with any ranged weapon.

Except for thumpers, which replace the drone's melee weapon with a second ranged one.
>>
>>41503157
I think some of our Heavy Warriors should carry Cryosprayers instead of Fire just because it will make things much more susceptible to the Sledges. Unless our sprayers can switch between ammos now like the Thorn Launchers
>>

Question is: who's getting invaded?

OQ INFILTRATOR! PURGE FOR MOTHER!
>>
>>41503991
The nigger queen, we should take back the shattered hive worlds of old. Alternatively we could secure good will with the commonwealth by promising to aid them against the scavengers in exchange for them aiding us in our eventual battle as well. We can throw in a bunch of non aggression pacts, resource trade deals, and all sorts of paperwork to make them at a minimum not so freaked out theres a powerful entity out there that could massacre them. Hell, we can even throw in some bullshit about how we respect there culture and find it intriguing enough to want to leave it alone or such and such.
>>
>>41503991
No one really, except possibly the OQ.

I see it mainly as a diplomatic gesture for when we come out to the rest of the galaxy. "Don't fuck with us."

Maybe we should Skyl-bomb a planet while still being mysterious just to make everyone really shit themselves.

>>41504036
I actually do like the idea of being friendly with the Commonwealth just to fuck with Killingher but that could also cause the Union to turn on us raaaaather quickly
>>
>>41504105
>>41504058
Fuck the Union.
>>
>>41504058
The commonwealth have repeatedly used big ships as a way to show military strength, we can totally play to this advantage by dropping a citadel ship on the other side of an even grounds negotiating area. Especially if its televised.
>>41504105
We can always sign a mutual non-aggression pact with them too. We can be like the Valen, a neutral but extremely powerful entity that doesn't really care much about human politics so much as they do not effect us. The Commonwealth would gladly sign on because it means they have an ally against the scavengers. In addition we can help the union "against the unity", by staging an intervening attack on them, where we pay theseus to build some server ships and launch them suicidally at us before they are driven off damaged. We come off as heros, the union loves us, and theseus gets a bunch of new ships and a new way to meddle (through us).
>>
>>41504147
Again fuck the union
>>
>>41504147
I like how you think. Can you imagine the shitstorm that would happen if our Hive Ship and a fleet larger than the one that helped the Commonwealth appeared at a big negotiation stand-off between the pair.

Communications all blaring suddenly about how Mother will not tolerate Children fighting and if they won't listen them it will be Time-Out

Launch the immolator warhead at a nearby planet or moon
>>
>>41504147
I really wish there weren't so many anti-fun anons in this quest these days so we can't pull off elaborate schemes like this.
>>
>>41504147
>we can totally play to this advantage by dropping a citadel ship on the other side of an even grounds negotiating area
Only if we can have even rings of thousands of fighters flying in formation around it.
Might as well go for maximum shock and awe.
>>
>>41504178

>>
>>41503157
Which division of heavy warriors are we giving the firesprays? The hive or ship defense crews? the boarding parties?

i mean i still want a mix of heavy's equipped for anti armor and air duties among the swarms
>>
>>41504196
I mean, we can more than afford a few fuck ups, the thing is we also can afford to seriously benefit from this now. Especially seeing we've got plenty of shit that can be reverse engineered even without negatively effecting us. I mean we could probably make first contact with the commonwealth by dropping a chitinous monolith with instructions on how to communicate.
>>
>>41504220
When have Heavy Warriors ever been equipped for air duty?

I presumed all of them, aside from a few that'd get plasma casters. Firesprays are excellent for hive defense, ship defense, ship boarding, bunker clearing...and pretty much everything else the heavy warriors were designed to be good at.

Bonus points: fire sprays will fuck with the Scavs vision in shipboard engagements.
>>
>>41504220
I think we can say and choose what they carry depending on the situation if i read QD right >>41503157
>In addition, since all weapons cost the same as all other weapons of the same size, I've stopped actively keeping track of which weapons you have. You can just mention if you want to give any drones you are deploying a non-default weapon load out.
>>
>>41504259
We are now invading all scav ships and stations with heavy warriors armed with fire sprays.
>>
>>41504259
>>41504280

Heavy Boarders with Cryosprays to make their own doorways and seriously fuck up armored targets.

Wouldn't it have explosive effect if a cryosprayer heavy and a fire heavy took alternating turns spraying an armored foe?
>>
Anyway guys, we really need to get a good conspiracy voting bloc going, if enough people support these ideas during live threads, bringing them up and such, we can definitely overthrow the very risk averse anons and have fun.
>>
>>41504259
I mean equipped with those anti-air missile launchers for when we are launching planet invasions

>>41504270
Nice so no worries then

>>41504280
Wont do shit against there drop suits though and those things are more metal than flesh anyway
>>
>>41504308
Our plasmas basically a super acid, it'll react with anything.
>>
>>41504336
Pretty sure there drop suits would be equipped with anti armor weapons that can out range our sprays

We are going to lose more heavy's than we need to with those tactics
>>
>>41504336
Our Sprayers have three ammo types, Chemical(acid), Fire(Plasma), and Cryo(Liquid Nitrogen)

>>41504308
>Wont do shit against there drop suits though and those things are more metal than flesh anyway

This is why I keep saying Cryo ammo with the sledges will be overpowered
>>
>>41504303
Sledgehammers are more than capable of making doorways without cryosprays. That being said, different liquids might be covered under the quick-access ammunition research we recently completed.

>>41504308
We've got support fluttercraft and hordes of interceptor drones for air superiority.
>>
>>41504356
That's why heavies are never used alone. They're a supplement for regular warriors. Also it's fine if our heavies don't have a 1-1 ratio for taking down Drop Troopers, drop troopers are much more expensive.
>>
>tfw basically the longer we go on the more powerful and unstoppable we become
>>
>>41504395
Also heavies aren't generally used in situations where long-ranged weapons can be deployed for full effect. Spaceships, hives, buildings are their specialties.
>>
>>41504395
Aren't they basically a tank, which is part of why a smith being able to fucking wreck one is so impressive?
>>
>>41504417
I thought there was a difference between our Heavy Drones and our Colossi?

Heavy Drones being medium Warriors with heavier than normal armor and a tail?

Damnit now I gotta go look it up in the Pastebin
>>
>>41504417
Those are our large drones, particularly the Smith /attempted/ to wreck a Collossus. He and his drop trooper bodyguard were promptly melted for his trouble.

We didn't have the tech to put Heavy Armor on medium sized drones at that time, which is what Heavy Warriors are. Heavy Warriors are essentially hive Drop Troopers, but less able to operate in open areas because they lack jetpacks and other mobility boosters.
>>
>>41504357
That's is a good combo

>>41504373
We may not always have air control, imagine invading a betrayer hive, whatever ground forces we send in will need to breach and make a opening for the rest of our forces

>>41504417
Heavy's a light tank
Colossi are the main battle tank
Warriors are heavy infantry
Wasp's are a light air unit
>>
>>41504480
>>41504417

Colossi are our artillery and siege drones basically
>>
>>41504479
Colossi with grav wings could become our equivalent of attack helis or such now that I think about it.
>>
>>41504496
Nah man.
Colossi - Mobile Artillery and Siege
Hover Tanks - Main battle tanks
Heavy Warriors - Mechs/Power Armor troops
Warriors - Heavy Infantry
Wasps - Light infantry

>>41504515
Literally what the Support Fluttercraft are. They're Hind/A-10 hybrids.
>>
>>41504225
Out of curiosity, do you mean "chitinous monolith" as in just a bug hunk of metal, or an advanced relay covered in cryptic runic symbols?

>>41503817
It will take a bit. You're astoundingly fast builders, but the Hive ship is just goddamn humongous.

>>41504270
Correct. Just mention a drone's load out before combat.

>>41504395
Also correct. In general, all of your units and ships are cheaper and build faster then the human equivalent, and because your drones and ships can communicate so perfectly, they benefit from numbers far more then any other species.

It also plays into the general moralities of other races. Humans hold great value in their lives, so they go to great expense to equip their units. You can just replace any lost drones in a day.
>>
I think we should launch a raid on a weak betrayer hive to try to grab one of her relays to put the scrambler on

But she would probably destroy it if it is too obvious that it is our goal

But if it works we can cause serious damage before she fixes her network

could we scale up a relay to massive proportions and have it create a a field in a very large area that induces feelings of intense paranoia and discomfort
>>
>>41504654
Relays are the most defended things in a hive.

Also unless we have several large strike forces prepped for other targets, we don't want to tip our hand that we have disruptor technology.
>>
>>41504722
That's the thing that bothers me really

She placed a relay on that server ship to follow it to zero one

We had such a chance man
>>
>>41504687
You'd get that from a nausea field, or just from reading people and not caring who senses it.
>>
>>41504770
Nah, that really needed to get gone.

We could try coordinating with Theseus to get access to another relay though.
>>
This quest always gets me in the mood to play some tyranids.
>>
>>41504858
Yeah it needed to die before she scouted out more of unity territory

But i am getting worried,

She had no problem launching a blitz against unity territory knowing almost nothing

But once she found out about us she sends a raiding party to the old gardener hive to try to locate us

Just how large of a attack force is she going to send at us
>>
>>41505093
Enough that if we do not step up production, or at least heavily out tech her, we are going to be swamped to death.
>>
>>41504611
Not sure actually, I'd need to think on that.
>>
>>41505093
We can hit her first, we know where several of her fleets are and it serves us better to simply scorched earth style assault them to weaken her.
>>
