You are Sallazar, a young wizard who has recently left the army. You have taken a teaching job at Egwen Girls Convent.

In addition the Headmaster of the school wants you to run the schools adventurers club, to give some of the schools more...unusual...girls something fun to do.

“Professor! Professor Sallazar!”

No matter how much to try to ignore it, the yelling, and the pounding won’t go away. You open your eyes a tiny fraction and blinding white light makes the pounding in your head much worse. The pounding on your door continues.

“Wsftl?” You ask, your mouth tastes like something crawled in there and died.

“Professor the teacher from the Rush Raid guys is here to see you” says the voice on the other side of the door, is that...Cleya? “He doesn’t look happy and he bought his boys with him – I think Kittrane and Phoebe are going to start a fight or something.”

You try and figure out what’s going on; your memory has gaps in it.

You remember your girls winning. You remember telling them how proud you were; and being angry at the young idiot from Faith and Steel. You marched him right up to the judges and they found Mages Poison in his pouch.
>>
You’ve been hit by that: it hurts and if not treated it can be fatal. Its a poison that makes a mage burn through his magical power very quickly. In small doses it can enhance a mages spells but in large ones it makes the mage burn out or die.

The safety spells don’t deal with magical poisons very well; that’s why most are banned in competitions. Not only did Faith and Steel get no points, they also have a month-long ban. Their Club Teacher, an ancient and scarred half-orc priest, did not look happy with his charges at all.

Still, after that it was fun and games. There was a dinner afterwards and many of the other players had gotten over losing.

The Soaring Falcons where the first to congratulate the girls: they found the fight with the giant squid a lot of fun.

Arcane Supremacy made some sheepish apologies to Cleya: who gracefully accepted them.

Right to Rule...stormed off in a huff, but you can’t please everybody.

And as far as you recall Raid Rush got in famously with Syphoebeus and Evrumine. You vaguely recall one of the horn-helmeted young lads making a passionate declaration of love and asking for Evrumines hand in marriage.

After all the excitement the girls were supposed to go back to the hotel. You wonder what they got up to instead.

You stayed out with the Daves...and everything gets a bit fuzzy from then on. You stayed up late telling each other exaggerated tales and drinking, lots of drinking. You think you can recall drinking something called *Smelter* that dissolved holes in the woodwork.

Your head is throbbing with pain, you’re exhausted and you feel sick. You’re also naked; your robe is on the floor and covered in vomit.

What do you do?

>Go back to sleep (exclusive)
>Go down to see the Raid Rush guys
>Clean up properly before going down
>Tell Cleya to see how much coffee the hotel has: you require all of it

being a responsible hungover teacher I see
>>
You sort of slide out of bed and hit the floor. You stumble over to the door as the pounding continues and open the door a crack “Keep it down” you croak.

“Professor you need to-” Cleya starts, you can see her through the tiny gap “by the Gods are you naked?” He voice sounds like hammers in your skull.

“Coffee” you whisper “enough to drown in, and tell them I’ll be down soon.”

“Um Sir” says Cleya “what are all those scars and tattoos-” You close the door and start digging clean clothing out of you bag.

You take the time to wash and clean up before going downstairs, dressed in your casual clothes, since your robe needs cleaning.

You see the fight has already started.

“No, no trip him!” Evrumine yells from the sidelines, as Kittrane has her arms locked around a member of Raid Rush and is trying to pull him off balance.

Members of both teams and the club teacher for Raid Rush are sat on the sidelines in the hotels sports and exercise room as Kittrane and one of the athletic-looking lads are practising holds and throws on each other in the middle of the room. This early you have the room to yourselves.

“What is going on here?” you ask as Cleya hands you a large steaming mug of coffee.

“Ve got bored” says Raid Rush’s teacher. He is a greybearded old man, six-and-a-half feet tall he is still broad enough to outweigh you by several hundred pounds. “Started havink fon.”

“No really” you say “what in the Gods name is going on?”

To a chorus of cheers, Kittrane flips her opponent and pins him to the floor.

“You girlz iz very gut” says the old man. You think his name was something like Elder Fireheart or something like that “and stronk too – very stronk!” he slaps you on the shoulder “iz a wonder how they get so stronk with only little man like twig to teach them!” He laughs.

You wonder how much trouble you would be in if you set him on fire.
>>
Now Syphoebeus is heading forwards, facing not one, but two members of Raid Rush in a freestyle wrestling match.

“So” says Elder Fireheart “My boys dey vants a match, official match. As challenged, you can pick.”

Well, your first official challenge. That means you can choose the terms, or let the girls pick. Really you should pick something that plays to the girls strengths. You could let the girls decide, but they might just pick something fun. Or maybe Kittrane should decide? She’ll be team leader in your next dungeon.

What do you do?

>You’ll choose (options in next post)

Kittrane chooses, and ask him for ideas.
>>
To buy your sluggish brain time to think, you say to Elder Fireheart “did you have anything in mind?”

“Vell ve vos thinking mebbe Arena Fight” he says “teams gotta fight two lots of monsters each, then each other?”

“Ok” you say, thinking “anything else?”

“Ve don’t like speedruns” he says, referring to teams clearing a dungeon or getting to an objective in turns, with the fastest winning “Iz boring, and Rescue zer Princess iz only fun vid dragons or giants. Hey, hows about Crazy Vizards Tower?”

“That one might work” you say. You remember that one: Two (or more) teams go up a wizards tower, encountering bizarre traps and monsters on the way. When they reach the top a crazy wizard forces all the teams to fight for his amusement. Also they’ve been climbing up different towers and the top room of all the towers are the same room.

The fights can get very strange when there’re interplanar portals, reversed gravity effects and other general weirdness.

“So, having fun?” you ask Kittrane as she’s on the sidelines yelling encouragement to Phoebe.

“Go on, get him!” she yells as Phoebe pins one down, only for the other one to grab her arm and try to force her into some sort of joint lock.

She’s got a foot-and-a-half of height on him, but her focus is split and he’s slowly making progress, even as the other one tries to wriggle out of her grip.

“Kittrane, a moment” you say, you lead her back from the fight “This is Elder Fireheart and he wants to challenge the team to a match, as challenged we get to pick the match.”

“Oh” says Kittrane, you see a little fear appearing on her face, looks like she’s just realised she’s the leader for this one “So um, which encounter did you pick sir?”

“I didn’t” you say “you can pick. We’ve been talking about arena fights, rescue missions, wizards tower...” you explain some of the common scenarios teams use in contests.
>>
Kittrane thinks about this for several minutes. Behind her Phoebe has one of her attackers lifted above her head, and is kneeling on the other one, pinning him down beneath her. But she doesn’t seem sure what to do next, and both are struggling and squirming with all their might.

“I think” says Kittrane “A rescue mission.”

“Vot?” says Fireheart “but dots-”

“With dragons or something” says Kittrane “That’ll be fun.”

“Oh ok” says Fireheart “yes, dots ok, so you and zer titan girl and evvy-mean and who else?”

“Uh sir?” Kittrane looks at you “isn’t this for the main team?”

Well, you can substitute others if you want, and Raid Rush seem to want to face off against the most um...physical girls.

What do you say?

>Main team only
>Kittrane picks her team
>You pick the team (who?)
>Suggest Kittrane picks another scenario (what?)
>Other (what?)

You can make up scenarios if you want, you don’t have to be restricted to the listed ones.
>>
>>41455338

>>
>>41455338
>Kittrane picks her team
>>
>>41455338
>Kittrane picks her team
>>
Kittrane picks it is
>>
“Kittrane picks the team” you say. Kittrane gives you a questioning look but doesn’t disagree.

“Then our team” she says hesitantly “is me, Syphoebeus, Evrumine and Nevyn.” Huh, looks like she’s going for physical power then.

“Its settled then” you say to Elder Fireheart “A rescue mission, your boys against the girls – the team that gets back with the *Princess* is the winner. I’ll talk to the Daves about setting it up.”

“Deal” says Elder Fireheart with a grin, taking your offered hand in his massive one and crushing your fingers “And may zer best team vin.”

“They will” you promise him.

“Hey that’s cheating!” yells Evrumine. You turn to see a third member of Raid Rush trying to take Syphoebeus down as she’s occupied with the first two.

“Yeaaaaargh!” Evrumine charges in to help.

“She really has zer heart for zis” says the Elder approvingly.

“One day I hope she’ll get the brain for it as well.” You mutter. Team members from both sides rush in.
---
Once you’ve pulled the resulting brawl apart and had some breakfast you realise that you’ve got the whole day free, most of the weekend in fact.

You booked two nights at the hotel in case the match dragged on and had to be finished the next day.

The girls are all talking excitedly around you; about the match they just had, the one they’re going to have and the relative...hotness of the four members of Raid Rush.

Eventually they realise they have the day free too.

“Oooh Sir!” says Nevyn “can we go out for the day, please? Ceram looks like such a nice city.” The others all chime in with agreement.

Well, maybe they deserve a reward for their performance.
>>
What are the girls doing today?

>Out in the city; they can do what they like

Supporting, with the addition of 2 gold each.
>>
Closing and counting, this looks a little tangled
>>
>>41456044
Their addition made us 75 gold yesterday. I think we can spare a sixth of that, at least.
>>
>>41456142
We could have played the Witch-King without them too and gotten the money.
This was training and experience for them, and the money goes to the club anyway.
>>
>>41455923
>“Then our team” she says hesitantly “is me, Syphoebeus, Evrumine and Nevyn.”
Huh, I would have thought Kittrane would be smarter than that.
>>
>>41456167
We only would have gotten 75 gold without the girls. That was Salazar's price for working for the Daves if the girls didn't want to do it. Instead we got 150.

I don't see much reason to not give them any money, 12 gold is a pretty negligible amount.
>>
>>41456196
right?
>>
>>41455942
>Something educational: a museum or something
Or
>Watch the other adventurer matches that will be running this weekend
>Stick with the girls
>No more than 2 gold, it's not fair on the others.
>>
>>41456219
>I don't see much reason to not give them any money
Because they have alreay gotten a lot and its poor behaviour to hand out so much favouritism to Fel Storm.
>>
>>41456044
>they already got a lot when we went to the city.
Evrumine, Phoebe and Calluna didn't get to go to the city.
>>
Ok I think the first post write-in won for activities.

And gold lost by 1 vote, so writing that.
>>
>>41456245
>Evrumine, Phoebe and Calluna didn't get to go to the city.
And no one voted to only give them money, so I don't see your point.
I would have agreed to that.
>>
>>41456245
>>41456264
I would be fine with giving them some cash since they didnt get any last time.
>>
>>41456244
All of the girls that didn't come to the city last time were brought gifts to make up for it. It doesn't make any sense to call this favoritism when we'd do the same for any other girls we'd brought to a city for club-related reasons.

>>41456305
>>41456264
Giving some of the girls cash while neglecting the rest would be far closer to favoritism.
>>
>>41456426
>Giving some of the girls cash while neglecting the rest would be far closer to favoritism.
Not at all, they get cash because the others had gotten cash recently alreay. its making things even if anything.

>>41456426
>All of the girls that didn't come to the city last time were brought gifts to make up for it.
Thats different from the nearly 10gold the girls got on the trip.

>It doesn't make any sense to call this favoritism when we'd do the same for any other girls we'd brought to a city for club-related reasons.
That might be so, but until that happens, and it can be quite a while until it does, it might cause resentment from the other girls.
Such things are not based on logic.
>>
>>41456426
So long as we explain why, it should not be a problem. SO long as its fair in the grand scheme of things. i.e. those three didnt get cash then, but they are now, so everyone has had equal amounts given to use.
>>
>>41456196
Don't know why you'd think that, she's always favored might over magic.
>>
>>41456563
>she's always favored might over magic
Until we showed her thats a silly approach and she seemed to have understood the lesson.
And its pretty clear she has understood it and just went with the all-physical team fbecause she got blatantly baited into it.
>>
“This morning” you say “you can do as you like: I’ll be busy arranging the match specifics with the Daves.” The girls cheer and high-five each other.

“But stay in groups and be back here for lunch” you add “we’ll be doing something educational and *fun* this afternoon.” You try not to sound too sarcastic. The girls groan and voice various complaints and speculation as to what you might think is *fun.*.

You also see some expectant and even greedy looks as you all rise from the table “What?” You ask.

“Well uh” says Chame “it’d be really nice if we could y’know, enjoy the city and all it has to offer.”

“Not this time” you say.

“But sir!” whine the girls

“No” you say “hoard your coins better next time.”

“But we earned it” argues Cleya.

“For the club” you say “you’ll see its benefit in time.”

There’re scowls and grumpy faces as the girls leave, but from the whispers you gather that some have saved a few silvers from their last outing, so they won’t be completely without funds.
---
“Azar you’re awake!” the Daves look happy to see you back at the dungeon grounds, and not hung-over at all.

“Well, sort of” you say “can we go inside, it’s too bright out here.” You all head into the blessed shade of a tent.

“Ok, so, what can we do for you?” asks one of the Daves “sorry but we gotta make this quick, got a last-minute alteration to a maze to plan – someone” he glares at the other Dave “left the maze plan lying around and one of the teams got it.”

“The girls are going to have a match against Raid Rush” you say “a Rescue the Princess scenario, with some sort of big monsters – dragon, giants, something like that.”

“Yeah we can do that” says Dave, stroking his beard “next weekend in fact, got a slot free if you can make it to Becklingill in Lanark – we’re there for a private gig: rich kids party y’know.”

“We can make that” you say, but still, only a week to prepare...
>>
“Right, sorted” says Dave “now, you got a preference for monster, and anything special about the lair or princess?”

“Ok, the lair I get” you say “terrain and all, but what could be special about the princess?”

“Well Dave here looks great in a wig and pink dress” says Dave, sniggering “or you could have one of your girls play the princess – as long as she is going to act fair, or” he drops his voice to a whisper “maybe the princess *is* the monster.”

“I don’t follow” you say, giving them a suspicious look.

“Oh you know, shapeshifted monster pretends to be princess” says Dave “or the princess fell in love with her captor, or she’s evil and this is all a plot to marry the hero who rescues her and daddy gives him half the kingdom, thus securing her rule despite being the sixth child, what?” Both you and Dave are giving him sceptical looks “Look I like to write ok, don’t judge.”

“So Terrain” you say “What’re our options?”

“In Lanark” says the other Dave, as the other pulls a face “hills, mountains, lots of snow, we can do towers if you want oh they’ve got glaciers up there, we could carve an ice-cave!”

Hmm, that might not be the best for Kittrane.

“Giants” you say “A dragon would be fun but....”

“Could dominate the whole show, yeah” says Dave “and terrain.”

“Mountains” you say “lets see them climb to get there.”

“Won’t that give the others the advantage though?” asks the other Dave “I mean, most of them are mountain boys.”

“The girls can handle it” you say. Plus, a carpet of flying can’t be that hard to enchant....

“Right” says Dave, making notes “and Dave in a dress and a wig” Dave hits him.

“How about an evil princess” you say “through a bit of a wildcard in.”

“Awww yeah” says Dave “one leather-clad whip wielding simulacrum coming up.”

“Or just a manipulative noble” you suggest hastily - you don’t want any of the girls thinking you chose to insert *that* into the contest.

“Where’s the fun in that?” asks Dave, looking perplexed.
---
Once you’ve sorted the details out, you spend some time walking through Ceram. It seems to be a lovely city: clean and with beautiful architecture, and parks.

Whilst you head back slowly to the hotel, you spot Calluna in one of the parks alone, at the edge of a pond.

“I told you to stay in groups” you say, wandering up behind her.

“I know” she says “I just, I wanted to be alone.”

“Any particular reason?” you wonder if the other girls have been teasing her.

Calluna points to the water, you see Mr Pogostus tearing apart other smaller fish, and devouring them. Looking around you only see a few people wandering through the park today. None of them notice the aquatic murder being played out.

“I wanted to make Mr Pogostus bigger” says Calluna “and” she waves her hands vaguely “more, but I can’t do it, I’m not strong enough. So I thought if he ate more, he’d grow faster, and change into what he’s meant to be.”

Then she gives you an intent look “will you help me?”

“Umm, how?” You ask
>>
“With magic” she says “or like, can you lend me magic power? I think I *can* change him I just need more energy. It’s a building block of the universe you know, not matter.”

“Uh, right” you say “anyway, maybe we should start heading back, I think Mr Pogostus has had his lunch. It’s time we had ours.” Eating after seeing that will be quite a feat though.

How do you respond to her strange request?

Best way to deflect i guess, it'll also teach her more about the natural order of this world/plane, which she is going to need to know in future anyway unless she really desires to be hunted down by the druid council or some such.

In dnd there are druids that see aberrations as creatures from another sort of natural order rather than against nature. Just saying, as an idea.

“Perhaps if you learned druid magic” you suggest to Calluna “they’re supposed to be quite good at changing animals.” Though what they’ll think of Calluna and her pet you don’t know.

“You really think it’ll work?” Calluna asks you, giving you a disbelieving look.

“If nothing else” you say “you’ll find out about all sorts of animals and it might give you some ideas as to what Mr Pogostus is supposed to be.”

Calluna thinks about that “yeah” she says, then adds “but um, who will I learn from?”

“There are some druids near the school” you say, thinking of the legal brief you’ve written up. Maybe if you get your day in court they will listen to you.

After lunch you take all the girls to one of the Museums: you all wander through halls showing the history of the Republic if Izine...weighted heavily in favour of Izine being a pivotal force in the old empire and the Last War.

Still, its calm, the girls are behaving, mostly, and everything is going well.

Until...

“Say is that an exhibit on the Walls?” Cleya points it out “Sir is that accurate?” You all wander over to a large panted fresco with a small modelled map in front of it. There’s a small crowd around it.

“The maps kinda right” you say, giving it a critical look “but the forces are arrayed all wro-”

“The Walls?” You hear a loud voice speaking behind you “Bah, that’s where they send all the criminals and scum, now if you want to hear about real combat, let me tell you about the Battle of Warth Hill.”

You turn slowly. In the crowd is a red-faced old man talking to a small group of what look like mages guild apprentices: mostly nobles with a few commoners, they look early teens, with some a year or two younger. The loudmouth is an older wizard who is probably their teacher.

“But sir” one of the students puts his hand up “aren’t the walls under constant attack? Wouldn’t it make sense to send the best troops there?”
>>
“No one on the Walls is worth anything” says the old man. Maybe its your hangover coming back, but all you can see is red. You miss some of what he says and then your hearing returns.

“They send rubbish to the Walls to die” says the old wizard “and as for real combat? Pah! The wastrels on the Wall would run screaming like little girls if they saw real combat.”

“Little girls?” rumbles Kittrane, clenching her fists.

Your fingers go white as you grip your staff tightly and you feel both calm, and full of rage. The faces of your friends who died on the Walls flash before your eyes. They died to keep everyone safe including this arrogant, overstuffed, pig-headed- You feel a hand on your arm, hands on both your arms.

Looking around you see that the girls have surrounded you, concerned looks on their faces.

“Sir?” asks Chame, with no teasing in her voice “are you ok?”

“The troops on the Walls see *real combat* every day” you say, addressing the girls, but raising your voice enough that those nearby can hear you “they’ve never run screaming in the years I was there.”

The old idiot pauses, and the young students turn to look. With a small gesture you get the girls to give you some room.

“Ridiculous!” says the red-faced man “the Walls never saw real fighting they-”

“Whom do I have the honour of addressing?” you stress the word *honour* slightly “and with whom did you serve?”

“Lord Harold Salmister” says the old man stiffly “and I served with the Izine Arcane Strikers, Fifth Battalion. And you sir?”

“Sallazar” you say, he sneers when you don’t give a title “and I served on the Walls.”

“Well, there you go” he says to his students “cowardly trash who-”

“The Arcane Strikers” you say mildly “I heard about them, very effective at breaking up formations” Lord Salmister swells with pride “from far, far away” you say, he scowls.

“Now look here youngster” he approaches you “You’ve had it easy on the Walls, you’ve never known hardship like-”

“Ratfolk blade” you say, pulling up your sleeve to show a jagged scar.

“Spiral Arrow” You say, pulling up your other sleeve to show a knot of scar tissue on the inside of your elbow.

“Hellspike chain” You pull your collar down to show a white patch near your collar bone “went through me and then dragged me fifty paces.”

“Yes well” blusters the old man “if you’d had healers then you wouldn’t have so many scars.”

“What scars would you have if not for healers?” you say “We had healers on the walls; they only had enough time to close wounds before moving on to the next person. So, what scars would you have had?”

“That’s not, I mean, scars prove nothing” says Lord Salmister.
>>
You pull up your tunic, exposing your stomach, and trace an ugly-looking purple gash running across your body “Deep Tusker” you say “gutted me and threw me into the air, I spent a half hour trying to hold my own intestines in before the healers got to me. My scars prove I fought, that I suffered, that I never hid at the back whilst the others did the bleeding. The soldiers on the Walls are the toughest and bravest you could ever ask for. We all have marks like this, because the Walls are the hardest place there is.”

You see some of the young students turn white as you expose your scars.

Lord Salmister looks like he’s about to say something, then pauses with his mouth open. Finally he says “We’re finished here”

They hurry off, with Lord Salmister throwing a scowling look at you. The rest of the crowd disperses too.

“What, you’re not taking all your clothes off?” asks Chame, but no one laughs.

You take a moment to compose yourself, and ignoring the concerned looks of the girls you say “Come on, lets see what else there is.”
---
After you’ve calmed down, you wander past yet more exhibits...until you get to the one about Soulbound.

“Maybe we shouldn’t” you say.

“Pfft, it’s just history” says Kittrane, rolling her eyes. There’s quite a crowd in the Soulbound Room though, and what little you can see it doesn’t paint a nice picture of them.

“I suppose” you say hesitantly. You and the girls wander in. Ah Hells...

The Museum paints the Soulbound as power-mad fools or simple dupes, and the Soulborn as twisted insane monsters.

All around you the crowd is full of people talking and saying how horrible the Soulbound are, and how fortunate that they’re gone. They recount tales of meeting Soulbound that sound to you as if they only knew them in the throes of madness or losing control of their powers.

You can see the descriptions and pictures are having a rather unpleasant effect on some of the girls.
>>
Cleya is shaking her head sadly; Kittrane looks angry; Evrumines ears are laid down and her eyes are wide open, and looking a little damp; Syphoebeus is shaking her head a lot; Nevyn looks grim; Calluna seems unaffected and Chame...

Chame uses a single finger to trace a picture on the wall where some sort of shapeshifter is tearing apart a woman from within- oh gods its a mimic...

As you watch Chames fist turns into a metal ball and she eyes the picture speculatively, her face expressionless.

“Chame” you say gently, coming up beside her “don’t, it won’t solve anything.”

“It’ll make me feel better” she says bitterly, her eyes never leaving the image.

“Will it?” you ask softly “or will it just make you feeling empty? Destroying it won’t change people’s minds. They’ll think what they want to.”

Suddenly Chame is throwing herself at you and gripping the front of your tunic tightly, crying, her tears soaking into your clothes.

“I couldn’t stop him!” she bawls “He wouldn’t listen, he just...he just...” She can’t finish and just keeps crying.

You exchange looks with the other girls and soon they’re surrounding the both of you as you hug Chame, blocking off everything from the crowd, and the curious onlookers nearby.

You hold Chame and let her cry into your chest for a while, eventually the tears stop flowing and she sniffs, drying her eyes with a sleeve.

“How’re you feeling?” you ask.

“Bleh” she says.

“That bad huh?” you ask, your arms still around her, the other girls still close enough to see that nothing untoward is happening. The crowd around you all moves on slowly.

“Do you know much about Mimics?” Chame asks moodily “Their lifestyles and family habits?”

“Uh no” you say, bracing yourself for some sort of lewd joke, or make a surprise groping.

“They’re cannibals” she says in a quiet voice, empty of feeling “the young mimics have to leave the parent at a young age else they get eaten. I know Soulbound aren’t supposed to *be* what was bound into them, but I guess some things carry over. My father wasn’t the best father, but he only got really bad towards the end, my mother tried to stop him and...” She trails off, then buries her head in your chest and starts crying again.

“We’re leaving” you say to the rest of the girls. Just as soon as Chame is ready to move...
>>
Once you’re out of the Museum you lead the girls back to the Hotel. Everyone is subdued after everything that happened there. Chame in particular is still looking down, Nevyn and Evrumine are either side of her, keeping an eye on her. Your tunic is still wet.

When you’re almost there Calluna asks “So what are we doing tonight sir?”

“I think a quiet night in is best for all of us.” You say.

After dinner the girls gather in the sitting room between all the bedrooms.

“I’m bored” complains Evrumine.

“I’m not” says Cleya, reading from a book.

“What can we do?” asks Kittrane, wandering around the room.

“Found some cards” says Nevyn, investigating a cupboard. There’s a pause and the other girls look at Chame, who is still sat in a chair, looking downcast.

Syphoebeus fills the silence “Strip poker?” she suggests with a grin, eliciting groans from the other girls.

“How about Truth or Dare?” says Calluna “I’ve never played it and I think it might be fun. It’s always confused me a bit because a truth is a dare and dares often reveal truths about a person.” There’s a longer pause at that.

“How about Truth, Dare or Story?” you suggest.

“What’s that?” asks Nevyn

“It’s like Truth or Dare” you say “but there’s a third option to tell a story about your past.”

“That just sounds like a Truth option” says Kittrane “and boring.”

“With a Story option you can pick the story though” you say “besides I’d like to hear more about each of you.”

The girls all exchange glances.

“Ok” says Cleya “then you go first Sir.”

“Wait, who said I was playing?” you ask.

“Truth” you say. Again the girls all exchange looks.

Finally Syphoebeus asks “So um sir, we’ve been wondering, do you like girls or guys?”

You resist the urge to laugh “I don’t have a problem with either” you say, grinning.

“She means are you gay?” Kittrane says, leaning on the back of a chair

“I’m not” you say “I’m not attracted to guys.” There’re some nods, and a few sighs around the room.

“Oh” says Evrumine “everyone says that you and that Tellaric were gay lovers.”

You snort “no we weren’t” you say. That’s technically true, you think to yourself.

With you done, it goes around the room.

“Truth” says Nevyn

“Do you ever get hairballs?” Cleya asks her.

“I didn’t used to” says Nevyn, looking uncomfortable “but since I started transforming, yeah.”

“Truth” says Evrumine.

“In Torrow” says Nevyn casually “they have those really frilly maids outfits, ever tried one on?”

“No” says Evrumine, looking confused “why would I?” The other girls giggle

“Dare” says Syphoebeus

“Um” says Nevyn “how about...handstand whilst drinking a glass of water?”

“Ugh I hate that one” says Syphoebeus “ok, you’ll need to hold the glass.”

“You doing ok?” you ask Phoebe a short while later

“Glbblglgbl” she says

“Truth” says Kittrane, glaring around the room.

“Ooooh!” says Calluna “which one of Raid Rush do you like the most?”

“I don’t like any of them” Kittrane says

“Oh C’mon!” says Nevyn “you were all over them.”

“To fight them” says Kittrane “not f- er, do anything else.”

“What, you didn’t feel anything?” asks Cleya suspiciously “you Evvy and Phoebe were getting all sweaty and muscly on the floor with them, nothing?”

“No” says Kittrane, but you think she’s staring to blush “next person.”

“Story” says Cleya. She relates a rather mundane story about how she studied hard for a test and passed, and the rest of the class...didn’t.

“Boring” says Kittrane, yawning exaggeratedly.

“Both” says Calluna
>>
“Cally you have to pick one” admonishes Cleya

“Um, dare” says Calluna.

“Leave your pet fish for a full day” says Nevyn “let someone else feed it, but keep away from it for a full day.

“No!” says Calluna defiantly, hugging Mr Pogostus.

“Forfeit” Says Kittrane, a call taken up by the others, Calluna sticks her tongue out at them then agrees to be blindfolded as a forfeit.

“Dare” says Chame quietly. The other girls all look uncomfortable. Maybe they’re still being careful after today’s events, maybe they can’t think of a dare Chame wouldn’t do.

“Um sir” says Cleya “your turn to pick.”

“How about” you say to Chame “you turn into something that will freak Calluna out – she can take her blindfold off for this.”

“Huh, ok” says Chame, going to stand in front of Calluna, as she removes her blindfold.

Calluna grins at her “do your worst” she says.

“How about...this!” Chame turns into a many headed dog–thing.

“Meh” says Calluna

“This!” says Chame, turning into a mass of vines with mouths and eyes.

“Kinda cute” says Calluna

“This!” Chame turns into rotting zombie, a hand reaching for Calluna, Calluna yawns.

Chame keeps trying over and over, nothing fazes Calluna. Eventually Chame is clearly just trying random things: animals, shapes, or her own basic shape in different colours, or with patterned skin or gold or silver-

“Aaaaah!” Calluna’s tentacles burst forth and she climbs over the back of her chair and hides. Mr Pogostus snaps his jaws at Chame and circles Calluna protectively.

“What really?” Chame asks, looking like she’s made of silver “Silver?”

“Just, not that” whines Calluna.

“Ok...” says Chame, turning back.

“Story” you say “Hmm, ok, as part of my job on the Walls, I used to make magic items with the other mages, including things for the scouts to hide them...”

“So there I am” you say, as the girls all laugh, some of them are in tears “naked as the day I was born. My commander is there, as are the civilian observers he’s showing around. The only thing I could think of was to claim it was an accident, so I throw my best salute and say ‘Sir, I regret to report only a partial success with the invisibility uniforms’ and he just looks me up and down for a moment and then says “’Yes I can see that, now why don’t you go and cover up its short-comings.’ So I get out of there as fast as I can, that’s the last time I ever trust a gnome to wash my clothes.”
>>
When the laughter has died down Nevyn says “Story”. She then tells a story about meeting Phaysis. Apparently they used to be quite...adversarial before becoming friends.

“Dare” says Evrumine.

“Ohh!” says Chame and rushes from the room, coming back she shows Evrumine a collar with a large bell on it “Wear this for the rest of the evening.”

Evrumine glares at her but takes the collar and puts it on.

“Truth” says Syphoebeus

“Is there anyone you” Nevyn gives you a cautious look then turns back to Syphoebeus “like as in *like* like?”

Syphoebeus takes a moment, looks around and then says “Yes”

“Oh come on!” says Kittrane “that’s not an answer.”

“It is to the question I was asked” says Syphoebeus, looking unruffled.

“Dare” says Kittrane.

You all play late into the evening and you discover quite a few interesting little facts about the girls. You call the game to a halt when it starts getting far too...suggestive. Still, at least Chame has definitely cheered up.

“Bed, all of you” you say, shooing the girls away.

“Whose?” asks Chame.

“Your own” you say, giving her a look.

“But I get lonely....” She whines “won’t you keep me company Sir?”

“Go, now” you say, pointing to her room.

Maybe save up to get Rank 5 spells properly so he can learn non-Abjuration spells.
>>
>>41462996
For a second class, I'd probably want him to go Fighter. The cross-class skills are fairly useful and some of the prereqs for Fighter are acceptable. Some of the class abilities are moderately useful. Fighter over Barbarian because Barb/Wiz can't get War Caster.

Maybe remove (E) from Teleport or Break Enchantment; neither of those are spells you want to spend several minutes casting when they're relevant.

I'm pretty annoyed with Kittrane over her poor team choice, Chame and Cleya would have been fantastic for that scenario.
Now we need to invest a bunch into Evrumine, Kittrane and Phoebe to get them Athletics ranks.

Not particularly, but it doesn't have any cross-class abilities with Wizard yet.

Sallazar doesn't have a very high opinion of the clergy, or at least divine magic, IIRC. Transmutation or Conjuration might be able to get some healing magic, if you make a spell for it.

>>41463331

Yeah, but we know a guy for that.

Fighters can get Staff Fighting as both a prereq and a discount and I don't think any of Monk's abilities are about that particular weapon right now. Most of the style bonuses are exclusive to unarmed. Maybe Redirecting Flow?

I'm writing a few things for Phaysis, so I can't say just yet what her purchases will be, since they depend on whether they're approved or not. I'll keep Priest/Paladin crossclassing in mind for the future regardless.

Evrumine's racial powers are pretty good for a Barbarian and Kittrane/Phoebe can pick up the caster slack with some more innate spell-likes. Athletics was recently reclassified as Niche, so it won't be expensive to get a rank or two, at least.

Phoebe needs Cure Moderate Wounds, and Kittrane needs Teleport in my opinion, in case that matters.
Minor Planar Binding might help Phoebe and the team too.

Oh, can you give us any sneak peek?

Well you've convinced me that fighter is a good choice

Everyone's opinion matters to me.

I can give you a brief outline of two powers and a peripheral for one of them. Names are WIP, and anything or everything about these plans might change.

Ashen Veil creates an aura of choking cinder around Phaysis that deals fire damage, inflicts a severe choking effect that can asphyxiate and/or deal semi-permanent (as in, permanent until a priest happens) CON damage and provides concealment from ranged weapons. Probably gives an intimidate bonus under most conditions.

Brand of Sin lets Phaysis mark targets to get hefty bonuses against them as well as lowering their attributes and letting her track them pretty much wherever they go. Marks are exceptionally hard to dispel and very visible.

Unwavering Pursuit is a peripheral for Brand of Sin gives Phaysis horror movie monster teleportation (significantly harder to block than regular Teleport effects) against marked targets, to the point of even being able to cross planes of existence if Brand of Sin is at it's highest rank.

I'm also toying with the idea of a breath weapon modeled after a pyroclastic flow.

Hmm, I like these powers.
