You sigh, slowly standing to your feet. "Of course my heart shows itself to be evil, with eyes granted by your lady. I am only considered evil because i disagreed with her, and so she shows you her 'proof' of my evil. You should always listen to your own mind and heart, not rely someone else's parlor tricks to show you what truth is. I for one wish you no ill will, nor do i slaughter aimlessly. I am a truly good man, for i cast aside petty lies and seek to being truth to the world, is that so evil? If i was as evil as you claim would i not surely strike you down where you stand? All i have done so far is talk, and that is all I would rather do. But I see you are deaf to my words." You reach down next to the throne, grabbing your axe from where it sat, propped against the armrest. "If you are so desperate to be the hero, than I shall play the roll of your villain. Prepare yourself paladin, I will not surrender my heart and mind so easily as you."

You channel slight power into your gauntlet, and discover that a new shape fills your mind. This must be what you unlocked when playing with the castle heart. The liquid metal rushs forth from your glove, running up your arm, covering your body. You feel the power running through you quicken, as the great fire in front of you and the torches on the walls dim, sending the shadows dancing like laughing demons as you loom upwards, the paladin seeming to grow smaller and shrink back, a bit of his bluster taken away as the faint holy light around him flutters and goes out "Well then paladin. The villain awaits."

>Bossfight two has begun!
>Sir Roderick, paladin of the lady!

You raise the axe horizontal, catching his overhand swing on the haft, the blade biting into the wood slightly. For a moment, the two of you are locked in place, neither side gaining the advantage, until you push mana into your arms, enhancing your strength ever so slightly, and pushing the paladin's sword back. Suddenly you heave forward, sending the paladin stumbling backwards, and you step forward, doubleaxe swinging in as black and purple flames begin to lick around the head as it crashes into the paladins shield, driving him further back, you hear a shout of pain, and the paladins arm dangles loosely at his side

>You now have 24/30 mana

>You now have 18/30 mana
>You have used smite evil

You quickly step after the paladin, moving faster then it would seem possible in your armor. You raise your axe over your head, pausing briefly as the blade is wrapped in black fire and light, seeming to take the form of laughing and screaming faces, the light of the room dims further, and your voice seems to reverberate through the entire hall

"Smite. Good."

The flames roar around the axe as it blazes and shines with a furious blackness, seeming to draw the light around it into the blade before it begins it's deadly descent.

At the last moment, you turn the blade, sending the flat edge of your axe slamming into the wounded paladins side, as he is launched across the room before slamming into the stone wall with a sharp *CRACK* and a scream of pain, before sliding down it and slumping to the floor.

From thread 1.5!

>You open your mind, straining ears that do not exist to listen for the slightest hint of the voices, and out of the darkness, they come.
The first is a voice like molten steel, screaming it's hatred out for all the world to hear, promising you the strength of hatred,
The second is a voice like the sound of a shroud, of scissors snipping thread, telling you of power, the power to rule over the border between life and death,
The third Is a voice of clanging chains and turning keys, offering you the might of conquest, of enslavement and the power to rule,
But in all of these voices, there is the echo of another, though these voices may speak of their own power, their own strength, they all come from a single, dark, voice. There, and yet not there, only the echo's remain, but those echo's are enough to grant the other three power, those echo's are enough to heal your friend.
CHOOOOOOSE YOUR PATRON!
>Raknora the molten whip, god of fire and rage
>Krona: The goddess of death and undeath
>Tilarn: God of tyrants and conquest
No matter what god you choose, you will gain some shared powers, including lay on hands, smite good etc. and several powers relating to negative energy.

You cut off the magic running through your axe, the black flames dying away instantly. You slowly walk over to where the paladin lies crumpled against the wall.

"You see now, friend? You see how little the Lady's power is? How her blessings abandon you to the fate of the world as they did us? A pity you refused to take a moment to to think for yourself, or to hear our story, of how the masters of that bitch's temple tried to leave all of us to die at the hand of bandits... but no, you chose pain... and what pain you must be in. Now, I'll give you a choice. I can either be merciful, and end it, or I can heal you. Save you from dying."

The paladin's eyes are filled with hatred and steely determination as he gazes at you. "Demon...I go...to the golden halls of the lady...where your black heart cannot follow." He spits at your feet, mouth twitching in a defiant smirk.

"Very well then. Die a fool paladin. But do not think you go somewhere I cannot. One day, I will enter those halls, and I will bring the justice we deserve." Your eyes flit over to the corner.

"Jasmine? Would you like to do the honors? Our friend here was oh so concerned about you!" For a second you think she'll refuse, but she slowly glides towards you, standing next to you as she looks down at the paladin beneath her, face impassive, eyes empty.

The paladins lips move, almost as if he's about to begin talking, and you see Jasmines eyes fill with anger and pain, her foot pulls back, and she send it slamming into the paladins broken ribs, as he coughs up blood and moans, only for her to do it again, before leveling her spear to the mans throat, and drawing it quickly across, cutting it open and watching as he drowns in his own blood. She turns, tears leaking from her eyes as she walks back towards the corner, kneeling down and wrapping Karin in a hug.

You lean down, grabbing the paladins corpse by the throat and lifting it into the air, blood trickling onto your gauntlet.

"If you're watching this Lady I hope you're pleased with the results, I'll be looking for you and none of your lousy followers will stop me." you whisper, before throwing the paladins body back towards the throne. A purple light flares, and when you look back, the Beast is standing in its true shape over a pile of ash's, as they are quickly blown away by an unseen wind.

You are suddenly aware of how very, very tired you are, and how late it is.

>Call out the curator, he'll know where you can sleep.
>No, you still need to find out what you opened up earlier when you were inside the castle heart, sleep can wait.
>Other?

I don't think we've gotten enough "Berserk" vibes from this.

Needs more righteous anger. Or godhands.

I can't decide which.

Better to check that the castle won't collapse or explode or anything before we wake up.

Dealing with the minions while tired will probably ensure we won't sleep as much as we'd like.

Thank you for coming through with the crit from the abyss.

Paladin rekt, level up happening. Awesome.

Maybe next the next time we face a paladin he won't be such a blind and weak idiot.

(How hard would this fight have been without the armor and crit Eclipse?)

Now to choose a new spell!
>Deathly Smite: Enchant your weapon's next attack with necrotic energy, making it do 3 extra damage to a living target. costs 5 mana
>Dark Spear: Dark Lance may now be summoned to your hand as a melee weapon dealing negative energy damage. costs 5 mana
>Dark impaler: Dark lance may now be summoned from any shadow within your line of sight, as opposed to in your hand (Example, you can now summon a dark lance from an enemies shadow, and have it hit them from behind)

As much as adding on another 3-5 damage to our all-in swing in Fallen Angel form would be nice... goddamn the utility of making spears come out of our enemies shadows far outweighs that.
