>You are a villager girl named Ellen from a small village in the nation of Neir, on the continent of Teege. As a member of the local militia/guard, you were trained in swordplay. Your fighting style is best compared to the mercenary class, though technically you're currently a sword-using trainee/villager class that can become one.

>On the way to the nation's capital, you wound up walking the closest towards someone who very likely summoned horrible undead creatures to assassinate Prince Garrus. Thus, King Drasma has summoned you.

>The questmasters are Octoling (myself), and Grandflaw. There's no particular rhyme or reason to who posts when, and sometimes one of us might not appear all.

>Character Death is always a possibility (this is Fire Emblem after all), but your actions can very easily influence who lives and who dies.

>Voting periods will last an average of fifteen minutes, but this may be increased, decreased, or generally changed at any given moment based on voter turnout.

Woot one of the best quests is up! Atleast in my book
>>
You've never really been to a large city such as this, and can only just glimpse various sights and people as you ride through towards the castle with Byron.

Some people watch as the green knight rides by with you in tow, but for the most part people mind their own business. Knights riding through in a castle town is most likely business as usual.

You swear you see the same red-haired woman more than once, but maybe she's just a very quick mover.

>A. Talk to Byron (specify)
>B. Don't say much until you get to the palace
>>
>>41357696
>A. Talk to Byron
Tell him someone might be following us

Happy to know that Ana is around doing her thing.
>>
>>41357737
>>41357867
"Is something the matter, Ellen?"

You mention the red-haired woman, and how you think she's following you two. Weirdly fast for a girl on foot, too.

"Did these identical women appear to be selling things, or at least carrying a lot around? There's a... lot of merchants who fit that exact description, all related. They've been reported all over Teege, but the family seems to simply be a bunch of harmless-yet-prolific entrepreneurs."

This reminds you of several years ago, of a red-headed merchant who came by Orsin with her husband and daughter around your age. The daughter had the same name as her mother... Anna, you think it was. Gorman had a hell of a time convincing the mother to part with some very nice weapons for the local guard, but ultimately seemed satisfied with whatever the price for the items was.

>A. Relay this memory to Byron
>B. Not like he'd care. Just nod and skip to the palace.
>>
>>41358024
>A. Relay this memory to Byron
>I wonder if Gorman's doing alright
>>
>>41358024
>>A. Relay this memory to Byron

Freaking Annas. They're look moogles. But, greedy moogles.
>>
>>41358051
>>41358075
You tell Byron about this memory, and he nods before responding, "apparently some also run 'secret shops' in very remote locations, but those will only allow people in if they have some sort of special card, the observational skills to find them, and a fat wallet. I don't understand how it's at all profitable to hide exclusive markets in remote places, but perhaps that's just my lack of a card speaking."

You do wonder how Gorman is these days. Hopefully his mercenary career hasn't gotten your mentor killed.

>A. You would like to see him again.
>B. You're concerned for what could make him leave to begin with.
>C. You need an answer for why someone you looked up to would abandon the town.
>>
>>41358237

>>C. You need an answer for why someone you looked up to would abandon the town.
>>
>>41358259
>>41358384
You miss him, and ever since so many people died in Orsin, you've become even more concerned for his safety. Sure, he can take care of himself in a fight, but so could Lambert. So could most of the local guard.

You're also wondering what could have forced him to leave. What sort of horrible thing could... cause him to ABANDON his post like that to become a sellsword, never sending word back? Sometimes you find yourself getting mad at him, and wanting desperately for him to have a good reason for his actions.

You don't want to hate him.

Byron interrupts your thoughts after awhile. By his tone, he's been trying to get your attention for a few seconds now, "Ellen, I said we're here."

>A. Apologize
>B. Dismount
>C. Write-in dialogue
>>
>>41358433
>B. Dismount
>Heads been up in the clouds today sorry
>>
>>41358471
You dismount and apologize for spacing out there.

Shaking his head and removing himself from his mount, petting it a bit, Byron responds, "no harm done. I understand how that goes."

After that, he walks with you towards the castle's entrance.

Two guards stand at attention.

>A. Let the actual knight handle this one
>B. Try to talk to them yourself
>C. Write-in?

You don't even need to ask Byron to approach the guards. He strikes up a conversation with one them, starting with, "Sharon, Billford. Good to see you."

The one apparently called Sharon, a woman with short orange hair, says, "Sir Byron, it's good to see you!"

The other one, Billford apparently, a long-haired fellow in some very heavy armor, adds, "I'd been meaning to thank you. Your marble cake recipe was a hit at my daughter's birthday!"

Byron smiles shyly before continuing, "good to hear it."

Sharon points you out. "Who's this?"

>A. Explain who you are and why you're here. Apparently you're expected.
>B. Let Byron handle it.

>A. Explain who you are and why you're here. Apparently you're expected.

>>B. Let Byron handle it.

Do we really have that much of an ego to self-introduce ourselves or am I just imagining things?
>>
>>41359256
I don't really think of it as having an ego i think of it helping out Byron so he doesn't have to explain it all y'know?
>>
>>41359294
Well, I'm sorry for interpreting as so. Help away~!
>>
>>41359175
>A. Explain who you are and why you're here. Apparently you're expected.

>>41359256
Probably not having an ego, but just trying not to speak out of place. Though self-introduction is probably acceptable.
>>
>>41359316

>>
>>41359188
>>41359323
"Er, I'm Ellen... The, uh, one that King Drasma wanted to talk. Byron said he should be expecting me."

Byron gives a confirming nod and the guards let you through.

>A. Marble cake?
>B. Ask how to address the king
>C. Write-in dialogue
>D. Remain silent for awhile
>>
>>41359503
>A. Marble cake?
>C.So what's the King like?
>>
>>41359503
>B. Ask how to address the king.
And also ask what kind of person he is.
>>
>>41359547
>>41359584
After you pass, you enter the foyer of the castle. Much of the interior's paint and decoration has a predominately orange feel to it. The walls are adorned with axes and staves with names engraved beneath each, you presume belonging to past rulers of Neir. Several flights of stairs go several directions, and a few halls and doors are abound. Guards are posted in a lot of places, and a few other knights pass through.

After you've taken it all in, the first thing you say to Byron is, "marble cake?"

Without missing a beat, he responds, "a sort of cake made by mixing lighter and darker batters, creates a sort of streak effect to it."

That being settled, you next ask some more relevant questions. What's the king like? How should you address him?

This one takes a bit more thought before Byron can provide an answer, which is ultimately "King Drasma is quite friendly, for the most part, but he is... boisterous. Be respectful of his authority, but don't be afraid to talk yourself up. Biff and I were personally selected to be in his son's personal guard partially out of his appreciation for Biff's... mannerisms."

>A. Thank him for the advice
>B. Write-in
>C. Nod and just reach your meeting already
>>
>>41359900
>A. Thank him for the advice
>Sounds like my kind of King!

"Thanks for the tip. It sounds like this king and I will get along just fine."

Byron cracks another grin before leading you into a sort of meeting room. A large, circular table adorned with some very comfortable chairs takes up the majority of the room, and on the wall opposite the entrance is a portrait of a tall, regal-looking woman with blue hair, holding a silver, fledgeling wyvern. It's hardly fully-grown, but still looks heavy. She seems to be petting it, and next to her stands a much shorter-by-comparison man with a very impressively braided beard. You figure the people in this picture are Queen Hauteclere, a former leader of the Tarvos tribe, and a young Khozen.

In the actual room, a man who looks both heavyset and muscular sits up straight, directly underneath the painting. By his position and his familiar dark-blue hair, you figure that he's King Drasma. However, he's dressed significantly less formally than the people sitting immediately next to him on either side, prince Garrus and a fellow who looks to be in his mid-30s, with a familiarly long, braided hairstyle.

Yvette, Quidel, a girl with long, blue hair who's currently pulling at her clothes as though she's not used to wearing ones so formal, and someone who looks like an older, warier, more stone-faced version of Cheryl also sit around.

>A. Just sort of sit down.

Without much fanfare or aplomb, you approach the table and take a seat. Byron doesn't follow you, instead leaving as this sort of meeting starts.

Uncertainly, you begin, "you, uh, wanted to see me, your h-er, your majesty?" You bow your head and upper body a bit, unintentionally curtly.

Another moment of silence.

Then, the king laughs heartily. "So you're the brave soul who stood with my son against Tabat, who singlehandedly took down a dracozombie and kept going without two fingers. I find myself surrounded by natural warriors with no social grace far too easily."

The younger lady's actions, picking at her own finery, are noticed by the woman who looks like an older Cheryl. She quietly reprimands her for "acting like this in front of her father," in a whisper that the room's acoustics ensure that everyone hears anyway.

Another laugh from Drasma, and he turns to face the pair, "it only makes sense, Lady Monica. My daughter's gotten used to wearing looser garb made by the Tarvos, and then you make her immediately transition back to Neir's least comfortable clothes? Did you think I would take offense or something?"

The woman, Monica apparently, responds, "she didn't have anything that could be considered 'formal' in any culture, your majesty. This is what was available."

You just sort of sit there, letting this conversation play out.

Quidel chimes in, "are you saying my parents wouldn't offer Princess Salia a nice set of clothes? Monica, you know that's not true at all, and she had perfectly-fitting things even just a couple years ago before I came here."

Monica responds just as he finishes his sentence, "she's grown since then. Girls grow, Quidel."

Quidel responds, "oh. I... didn't notice. This is the first time we've been in a room together since I left, so-"

Salia looks a embarrassed and groans loudly, hiding her face in the table. Muffledly, she asks, "do I even need to be here?!"

Yvette finally chimes in, "when someone might very well be targeting the royal family with Dracozombies, it's absolutely your business to be here. Now with all due respect, can we stop embarrassing a sixteen year-old princess and get back on topic?"

You pretty much solely describe what you saw and experienced of the apparent necromancer. That they seemed to be deaf, you could make out some amount of light hair, how they seemed to be using a sign language for the summoning, and how approaching the robed figure left you so weak you collapsed right then and there.

King Drasma and the older-looking braided figure beside him (if you had to guess-and you would later learn offhandedly you would be correct in that assumption-he's Quidel's uncle Antiman, who he'd mentioned worked with Drasma himself) listen intently.

Antiman speaks up next, "that sort of thing... The magical senate of Heim might know something about such a unique sounding sorcerer, or at least give us a lead on who tried to take your son's life, don't you think?"

King Drasma nods. "Someone send word to mage general Corneria. We're going to be taking a bit of a family trip."

Antiman responds, "are you certain it's wise to bring your children out of Rakche?"

Another laugh from Drasma, "there's hardly anywhere safer than by the side of myself and Khozen!"

You look up at the grinning king, steeling yourself to address him about a matter that's been at the forefront of your mind for quite some time. With a shakey request to speak, he smiles down at you and grants you permission.

"Your majesty, I have nothing left. My village was destroyed by Johalva, and I don't have any relatives or friends living elsewhere. Is there a place for me here?"

King Drasma looks deep in thought for a moment, which is apparently quite rare, if a couple lighthearted jabs about him you've heard from those who have worked with his majesty for quite some time are anything to go by. He then speaks.

"Young lady, you have the kind of drive and bravery I wish I saw more of, even among my most trusted generals. How would you feel about being knighted, and joining my own son's personal guard?" He asks, his face turning into a large grin the further he gets into his query.

Almost all heads in the room turn towards either yourself or the king, with the notable exception of Prince Garrus himself, who simply looks towards the floor.

It's quite the shocking proposal, and it takes a moment for you to even register exactly what you were just asked. However, your response is clear.

"It would be an honor, your majesty."

Drasma's grin doesn't fade at all, "alright, fantastic! Now, could you all give me a moment to retrieve the Scepter of Katri?"

He excuses himself. You should have time to talk to one person before he returns, if you desire.

"How're you doing? You've been quieter than usual today."

Garrus looks up at you, taking a second before replying, "things have been happening really fast lately. Bandits, dracozombies and necromancers, my sister's back home for the first time in awhile..."

Salia pipes in from across the table, "what's that supposed to mean, lumping me in with bandits and zombies?!"

Garrus recoils a bit, "I-I didn't mean it like that! I just mean, it's sort of a big deal, especially given the circumstances, and that we're probably gonna be leaving Neir soon... And I mean, I know Yvette and I invited a lot of you to try to join my personal guard, but after what happened with the Dracozombies, I'm worried about what that MEANS!"

You pause, taking this all in. The rest of the room is paying attention to their own various conversations and catchings-up, with the exception of Yvette. After a moment, you sigh, promising that you, at least, will still treat him the same as ever if he would prefer."

This puts Garrus a bit at ease, and shortly after, Drasma steps in. He's thrown on a cape and a diadem (both rather haphazardly), and is holding a very impressive-looking staff.

The knighting itself is hardly formal, since it was literally something he chose to do in the spur of the moment, with an audience of six people. Kneel, the scepter touches your shoulder, etcetera etcetera.

However, you feel some sort of mental barriers being unsealed, immediately feeling inexplicably stronger, immediately feeling like you might still someday be twenty times more powerful a knight than you've just become.

Everyone present gives polite applause, not understanding the personal, inexplicable weight of this promotion as you do.

After that, the meeting having dragged on, everyone goes to bed. Yvette shows you to the appropriate quarters, telling you to meet her first thing tomorrow morning.

You get a feeling you don't want to be late.

>That's it for tonight.
Thanks for playing, as always. You can follow on twitter @qmgrandflocto for updates and the like.
