For those of you who haven't, I suggest going into the archives and reading the Q/A thread, because the anons suckered me into writing up the teasers for all eight of your familiars, and they're worth reading, if I do say so myself. We also did some world/lore building, that you guys might want to check out

Also, bit of a request to anybody with a computer that can actually fucking run photoshop: The title picture with the name of the quest on it in text. I'd do it myself but my computer is a piece of shit that run editing software

You approach the ruined door, hammer and shield in hand. As you draw closer, you can definitely hear the sound of something large behind the door, moving around.

You look inside the door, and there, laying in the middle of the passage, is a massive, starved looking purple cat-like monster, with two long tentacle like apendages on it's back, ending in pads covered in nasty looking spikes.

It's gnawing on what appears to be an old skeleton, and as you look, it's ears prick up, it's head swivels around to face you, it comes to it's feet, and it lunges at you, its mouth opened wide!

The massive cat thing slams into you, knocking you to the floor, paws scrabbling on your upraised Kite-shield, tooth-filled mouth working desperately to get close enough to your face, large spiked tentacle-like appendages raking down your armor, emitting a cruel shriek.

You surge upward, putting all your weight into your shield as you attempt to throw the large purple cat off of you, as you lever upwards, you hear a loud *WHUMP*, and the weight on your shield suddenly vanishes, causing you to sit up quickly.

Once the dizziness clears, you look over to see Ergon wrestling furiously with the cat-thing as it roars and tries to throw him off, his grip holds however, and you see the light glint of the ash-grey scales of his arm as he sinks his claws fiercely into the cat-monster, tearing it's throat out and showering the ground in blood.

He turns back towards you, and for a second you'd swear his pupils were reptile-like slits of color. Then you blink, and see his eyes are perfectly normal. "Are you okay Avi? That thing looked pretty mean. But I killed it so you should be okay, right?"

You run your hands along your sides. You're fine, whatever it was it's tentacles didn't manage to pierce your scale-mail. Ergon seems to calm down at the lack of blood on you. And Jasmine taps you on the shoulder, eyes asking you where you're going next.

You continue down the passageway, and soon come to a wooden door, hanging broken off it's hinges.

The room appears to be an ancient kitchen, dust covers everything, much like the rest of the castle, and old food, long since rotted away hangs from hooks and sits on table and ovens.

A cursory glance around the room reveals nothing, and with no other exits, you quickly make your way back into the ballroom, the smell driving you out of the dilapidated kitchen.

When you enter the ballroom you feel something, almost like a tug, like somebody hooked their fingers into the center of your chest and started pulling. Gently. It seems to be trying to guide you back into the throne room.

>Ignore it, go through the door that's open, and leads to a passageway, that turns to one side before you can see where it leads

You walk in the direction of the throne room, following the phantasmal pull guiding you. When you enter, you feel your self being guided to the massive throne, to sit in it.

You notice something that had escaped your gaze earlier, almost as if your eyes are being drawn to it. On the right armrest of the throne, there is an indentation in the shape of a human hand, with five small black gems set into the stone where your fingers would rest.

A thought enters into your mind, you feel compelled to sit, to take off your gauntlet and press your hand into the indentation on the black stone. The feeling is remarkably strong, it feels right, it feels like something you have to do, like you belong on that throne, staring out into the great hall in front of you.

>Heed the compulsion, remove your gauntlet and sit on the throne

You walk forwards towards the throne, almost in a daze. pulling your gauntlet from your hand, you glide onwards, you companions hanging back behind you, slowing down and stopping at the base of the stairs leading down to the dais the throne sits on.

You walk across the floor, the feeling that this is somehow right growing stronger in your mind with each step. You sit, and as your gaze sweeps over the dusty abandoned hall, you are filled with a fierce purpose. This is YOUR castle, YOU are the lord of this place, you will let nobody usurp you from your rightful throne. You move your hand into the indentation, pressing your fingers over the small black gems.

A cruel metal spike shoots out of the throne, driving itself through your palm, the pain is unbearable, ungodly, the worst thing you've ever felt, you feel like your hand and arm are on fire as the black iron tears through your flesh and bone, and you hear Ergon and Jasmine cry out in surprise.

No. NO. This is NOTHING for you. You grit your teeth, refusing to let the castle hear you cry out in pain. You will NOT be weak now. You will NEVER be weak again! The blood runs down from the center of your palm, dripping onto the black gems at your finger tips.

Suddenly the gems are filled with a swirling black light, illuminating the room and making the shadows on the walls dance like demons enjoying some twisted festival. A loud, spectral voice fills your ears.

"THE TYRANT'S THRONE HAS DRAWN THE BLOOD OF THE RULERS HOUSE! THE CONTRACT IS FULFILLED ONCE AGAIN AFTER ALL THESE YEARS! WELCOME TO YOUR CASTLE LORD RAVENCHAIN!"

The metal spike driven through your palm seems to grow, warping and expanding, covering your hand in the same black metal, forming a wicked steel gauntlet, before rushing over the rest of your body, enveloping your arm, your head, your torso, your legs, and hardening into a massive suit of blackened steel armor.

You open your eyes, the pain in your arm and hand gone, you can still feel the shard of metal piercing through your palm, connected to the black-steel gauntlet you now wear, but it doesn't hurt. It's simply there.

The shadowy mist billowing from the black gems grows thicker, seeming to mass together in front of you, solidifying into a black, billowing cloud, before a black mask appears, light leaking through the eyes and mouth. A voice reverberates from the mask, echoing around you.

"Welcome, young lord of the Ravenchain house. It has been to long since one of your ancestors has sat upon the Tyrants throne. I am the curator, charged with looking after the castle, and assisting the lords of Ravenchain in whatever they may need. My counterpart, The Guardian, told me you would be coming, but he has grown weak over the long years it has been since your glorious family ruled here, and he could do no more than guard you on your passage. He will regain his power, now that you have arrived, but it will be slow. You may wish to seek him out yourself. Is there anything I can do to assist you, my lord? Anything you wish to know?"

Well, a basic wall doesn't take much in the way of actual engineering, even when working to keep it upright.

Of course, without mortar those walls are still going to be pretty flimsy, and mainly something for keeping out rabble.

Plus, carrying bigass stones around makes a nigga doubleswole.

You know who messes with doubleswole niggas?

Dead niggas.
>>
>>41353999
...nope. You'll deal with the batshit craziness of your peasant family somehow being descended from an ancient ruling class later. This is free help, you'd be an idiot not to take it.

"We do not have the supplies to go back the way we came without going hungry. Is there anything in the area that we could gather to eat?" you ask the strange figure of mist. "Of course lord. I detect that the food in castle has all long since rotted away, but once the guardian regains some modicum of his strength he should be able to bring in wild animals for you and your companions. And there are always the fruit trees growing in the last Mistress's secret garden."

Well, you won't starve to death. There's that at least. "How damaged is the castle? There isn't a chance it will repair on its own as the Guardian regains his strength, is there?" "The castle is quite broken down, the years have not been particularly kind to it, and many parts are blocked by fallen rubble. As to the second part of your question, no my lord," Of course it couldn't be that easy, why would ANYTHI- "That is my jurisdiction, now that I have been re-awakened the castle should slowly repair itself. Of course there are ways to speed up certain parts of the process." ...oh. Apparently it IS that easy.

"What was the beast upstairs that attacked me?" "It would seem a displacer beast made its way into the castle while the guardian and I were dormant, however I detect no other such creatures within the rest of Ravenchain."

"Do you have any information on the surrounding area? Perhaps some maps to look at?" "Unfortunately I am currently to weak to activate that part of my magic, it will be quite some time before the Guardian and I are at our full strength again, but I estimate that I will be able to project an image of the surrounding area at some point within the next three days."

"What remains of my families valuables and heirlooms?" "A large part of the castle was raided when the last Lord of Ravenchain fell, but fortunately the Guardian and I managed to seal the Treasure room before the intruders could enter it. Unfortunately, we had to collapse part of the castle in front of the entrance in order to do it in time, so it will take some time before the vault is accessible again. The same goes for the Master's bedroom, and personal library.

"One more question: 'What exactly are you?"

"You could say that the guardian and I are the spirits of the castle itself, we were tasked by the first lord of Ravenchain with assisting the lords of Ravenchain in protecting and running the castle. We are, in essence, the 'Soul' of the castle."

You open your mouth to ask the Curator another question, when you feel something. A tug. A deep rumbling pull in your gut, in your very soul, it feels like something deep within you is moving, shifting, stretching. Gnir's voice reaches your ears.

"Well well well! I fall asleep and this goes and happens, you didn't even think to wake me up for the interesting part eeeeeh? Speaking of waking up, I think the big boy's finally doing it. Seems you're strong enough to be worthy of him now. Go on my interesting friend, pull! Summon him forth! Call out the beast!"

The Curator now speaks. "Oh my, young lord, it would seem the magic of the throne and armor have kick-started your own, you're about to summon your first familiar! The guardian will be ever so jealous he missed this! Go on my lord, bring him forth, I will assist you."

POV SWITCH!

You are the beast, you are magic incarnate, a massive symbol of power, and you have been asleep for a very long time. The clouds have been keeping you asleep, you knew this, you weren't sure how they were doing it, but they were. Pressing on your mind, dulling your senses. But the clouds drew back some time ago, and you slept on, gaining your strength, waiting for your master to be ready to summon you.

You stir in your sleep. Your paws begin to kneed the ground beneath them. You begin to wake up. You are awake, this can only mean one thing. He is ready. HE IS READY! Excitement fills your heart as your eyes snap open, burning orbs set behind the bone plate guarding your head. Your master is ready! He is waiting for you! He is calling you! You must answer! You pull yourself to your feet, emerging from your cave for the first time since the clouds descended, the sunlight of the charred realm you and your brothers call home hits your face, the stormclouds above rage uselessly, helpless to stop you, you throw back your head, your brothers must know, their times shall be coming soon.

You roar. It is a mighty sounds, echoing across the vast expanses of your home, speaking of triumph, eagerness, anticipation, conquest. In his full-on sprint, the runner pauses, in the midst of his furious dance, the warrior stops, in his blackened hiding spot, the packmaster pricks up his ears, in the sky high above, the flyer ceases his graceful swooping, in his deep pool, the diver casts his eyes upwards, in the dark gloominess of his glade, the devourer pauses his chewing, and unbeknownst to you, deep within the blackness of the earth, the chained one raises his head. And your brothers listen to your roar, and they answer, filling the air with their calls of triumph, with their mockery of the stormclouds looming overhead. Your master has won!

POV SWITCH!

You are Avitus Faust, and you are watching as the air in front of you is filled with purple light, dancing and swaying, spinning faster and faster, as a large, white head appears in the center of the purple flame, pushing it's way through, letting out a single roar of triumph, before sinking back in.

The flame grows larger, brighter, but you cannot look away, in the center, a massive lion-like creature is forming, you can only see it's sillouette, but you can see it! The Flames rise, spiraling higher and higher towards the ceiling of the great entrance hall, before exploding outwards, washing everything in warmth, and there it sits. Your first familiar.

"Meow."

You could've sworn it was bigger just a few seconds ago.

>What do you do?

Send Kairin and Eregon (He'll know if we get in danger, Jasmine won't, and we need to keep our charges alive if anything's left lurking) to get food. Go with Jasmine to meet the guardian.
>>
>>41355571

Yes.

Team meeting.

Send Karin and the Curator to go grab some food from the fruit trees, in the meantime we pet the kitty in the most deliciously evil manner possible and talk with Jasmine and Ergon about what our next move should be. We know our end-game goals, but we're shy on details for what we're going to do to get there, so I'd like to pick both their brains and see what we can come up with.

Welp. This seems like a good time to take my hour-long food break. Talk amongst yourselves! Discuss things! Theorize! Plan for the future! Try to determine what the chained one is! Whatever you feel like!

>>41359173

Really? Smut is fucking easy, man.

Honestly I thought the fact that it was so easy was one of the primary reasons that it's so looked down upon. I mean, hell, smut is canon in a ton of RPG's, it's hardly out of place on /tg/.

I think I'll stick to greentexts and general comic relief, unless the playerbase is literally clamoring for someone to write some in-universe, likely non-canon smut. Then...well, you'll be in for a wild ride.

It really is quite easy to pick up, you just have to be completely unafraid to go full melodramatic pornography. It's about being lewd, not about accurately portraying sex.

...ah to hell with it. You walk over and scoop the your familiar into your arms, reaching a gauntlet-ed finger to scratch him behind the ear, the furry thing purring contentedly in your arms, radiating soft heat into your armor.

"Interesting." you hear the curator comment from over your shoulder. "It would seem that your familiar has taken on a smaller form, so that it can travel with you easier. Most impressive."

Well, anyway, it's high-time you started doing something again. "Curator, show Karin and Ergon how to get to the Garden, might as well start gathering food now before we starve to death. Jasmine, come with me, we're going to find the guardian."

"If I recall correctly sir, the guardian will be in the tallest tower of the castle, where the observatory was before Ravenchain was ransacked. Simply go into the ballroom and up the spiral staircase sir. Before you go however, might I recomend that you change your armor into something a little less bulky? While the armors enchantment will prevent you from tiring while you wear it, the fatigue will hit you the next time you take it off, so I would ad vise switching it into something better suited to the staircase."

>Nah, just go like this. You'll be fine.

You fucking disgust me, anon.
>>
>>41359419
You grimace. The curator DOES have the advantage of experience over you, maybe you should listen to his advice. "How do I go about doing that?" "Simply focus on the fragment of the castle's heart buried in your palm, channel the slightest touch of your magic, and it should react."

Focusing on the spike of strange metal lodged in the center of your hand, you focus your thoughts. You feel air begin to touch your skin, as the black steel that was covering your body pulls back, leaving you in your clothing, with the odd metal gauntlet still on your right hand. You think of lighter armor, something you can move in.

There's a rush, and metal flows out of the gauntlet again, washing over you like water, before falling into place, a red cape falling around your shoulders. Where the other armor felt like you could take a hit from a giant and remain standing, the instant this set covers your body, your limbs rush with energy, you feel faster, more agile, the armor barely weighs on you at all, and you head off in the direction of the stairs.

>Armor of the Black Conquest, Raiding Overlord state obtained.

You head up the stone spiral staircase, Jasmine following behind you as you move upwards. Eventually, the staircase opens into a large, circular room, a massive hole along the wall reveals a breathtaking view, and allows in the pale, fading sunlight. several ravens are nestled along the walls, watching you with beady black eyes. Judging you.

In front of stands an odd figure, a tall, skeletal-like construct made of some pale white material, a faint blue glow emanating from his midriff, as you lay your eyes upon him, he tilts his head slightly, looking at you. A long wisp of black smoke filters out of one of the corners of his mouth, gathering in the air and slowly taking the shape of a large raven with a wicked beak, before flying to join the others on the walls. The figures mouth opens slightly, and words flow out in a quiet, soft voice.

"Greetings, young lord of Ravenchain. I, am the guardian. It is good to see the line restored once more, after all these years I have grown weak, my power fading, but I still sensed you. I could tell one of your bloodline anywhere. And so I protected you as you traveled through the forest. In doing so however, I have spent the last of my strength, and the one who was following now passes unhindered by the deadly birds. See, even now he leaves the tree line."

The Guardian reaches out a long, skeletal-white arm, and points through the massive hole in the wall, towards the ridgeline of the crater. Looking in that direction, you can see a figure mounted on a white horse making his way towards the castle, silver armor gleaming in the twilight.

>>41360399
I feel like we should play the roll of 3 innocent children who have sought shelter in the castle. The idea of a paladin just murdering three 'evil' children without hesitation... well, that'd be one hard core Lawful Good. We could try to simply direct him elsewhere, or ambush him within the confines of the castle. Or we could maybe see what happens when someone who isn't a Ravenchain sits on the throne...

It's been WEEKS since we had a proper Blackguard quest. Eclipse is finally back, boys. Let's celebrate his triumphant return with an epic amount of bloodshed.

Oh FUCK no.

No, my friend, no. I love you, but no.

Here's the plan.

We overpower him in a fight, toy with him, try to upset him. Talk mad shit about how the Lady's cunt is looser than a slot machine in Vegas.

Then we break both his kneecaps, and make sure he's still conscious.

Then, then we let Ergon have a hand at him. For every hour Ergon gets with the poor sod, Jasmine gets half an hour. We rotate pain and pleasure / pleasure denial constantly every day for the next week.

Seven days from now, this motherfucker will be begging to be of use to us in any way possible.

And we let the Lady know that anyone she sends after us will only make us stronger. This, this is the message we shall send.

Jasmine is not yet to the point where she will just randomly fuck some paladin. she needs to fall deeper into the darkness for that.
>>
>>41361515
Oioi!

If you knew anything about anything you'd know that the "Shut him up" options in Asura's Wrath just let you use your badassness as a weapon more quickly, it never actually shuts them up, or stops them!

It just -feels- so good.
>>
>>41361548

Who said ANYTHING about fucking. No, Jasmine makes him feel good, makes him feel right, makes him feel special, using whatever means she feels inclined to.

And then Ergon, Ergon reminds him that his is trash, he is shit, he is garbage and even a lifetime of excruciating pain is too good for him.

Rinse and repeat, and enjoy your new broken Paladin.
>>
Alright barring a massive swing I think yes wins it. now then, this next decision was GOING to be random, but since you used the crit I'll let you vote on it.

This would be the weirdest thing to our subjects.

"Yeah, our lord would fuck your lord's shit up. But he tends to dress like a hobo until it's time to fight."
>>
>>41362377
>implying appearances determine respect

I mean, sure, I could walk around wearing a fancy and expensive suit, but that won't get me shit.

Meanwhile, if I walk down the street in jeans and a t-shirt and get jumped by a few thugs and I beat the shit out of them, I'd get mad respect.

These are purely hypothetical, of course, as I am neither rich enough to afford a nice suit, and I can only effectively not get my ass beat by two people at a time at most.

The point is, when you can tear a man in half with your bare hands, people will fear you regardless of how you dress.

Or wash ourselves

Or swim

Or not be hot as all fuck. Seriously, you ever been in a tin can before? Fuck that.

Case you hadn't noticed that greentext is now canon BTW, the curator and the guardian have developed some odd quirks after having been left alone for so long. The curator is just smart enough to know not to say any of it out loud.

>>41362633
Yes. but it would be kind of like a passive buff that ticks in the background.

>>41362664

Hey, write up some crazy shit the Guardian does for the start of next thread.

Always nice to help build characters.

I want more of your crazy shit, you twat!

we have the armor, now we need our weapon.

Quirks are great, I ain't no fucking filthy engineer. Let the Curator does as he sees fit. After all, if he lets us down, I'll just vote that we spend our time figuring out a way to punish him severely for his incompetence.

In the meantime

>Wreck this dumbass pally.

Ima hop over and archive this real quick. Paladin fight may take place on a new thread

>>41362772
Ya see the picture of the armor? He will be able to see the gold, and the blue lights. That's about it.
>>
>>41362786
>He will be able to see the gold, and the blue lights. That's about it.

Sheeeiiit man, that lets him see our legs, arms, shoulders, torso AND head.

From the lights alone. If he is a skilled fighter he could manage with that alone to not get his shit pushed in!

I was hoping for just a patch of sheer blackness approaching him.

Damn.
>>
>>41362772

That depends more on the pally's devotion than our armor. We're going to look like the kind of person you simply do not fuck with under any circumstance, but his response to that is measured by his faith.

And, seeing as his still loyally serving the treacherous bitch, his faith is strong. Which means that before we break his armor, before we break his sword-hand, before we break his mind, we must break his tie to the Lady. I want her to bear witness to our ripping her leal servant from her clutches. I want her to see how easy it us, for us. I want her to panic, to get stupid, to make mistakes. And this retard is the key to everything.
>>
So, just got in.
If we have armor that dims the light around us at all times, are we gonna have issues seeing, or...?
>>
>>41362837
That is a good point. Nightvision had better be part of the "angel" package.
>>
>>41362829

Heyheyhey, chill a bit.

He's supposed to be our recurring antagonist.

We aren't beating him entirely tonight.

Paladin is in a pic way above.

And Anderson is far more terrifying than anything else the Lady could send against us, I'd surmise.
>>

Now I'm worried if the dude has an even more smug master.
>>

Remember when Jasmine was supposed to be our reoccurring antagonist? Good times.
>>

>>41362888

Is this the same pally Jasmine saw, then?
>>
>>41362889

I'm honestly fucking shocked that we get back from a prolonged Blackguard hiatus and all /tg/ wants to do is diplomance a representative of the goddess we have a seriously personal blood feud with.

Love you all, but holy fuck, you disappoint me sometimes.

all the time
>>
>>41362918
That paladin actually isn't smug. He/she is however, VERY secure in his/her faith. And has familiars.
>>
>>41362922
Where did you get that from?

You've got -me- confused with that amount of assumption as to what that anon said.

>>41362947
Okay which Paladin?

Let's get this sorted, are we talking about pic paladin above or our opposite we haven't met yet?

I'm too fucking drunk for this!
>>
>>41362922
I was mostly referring to the fact that we forced two gods to cooperate inside ourself, reawakened a long dead race, diplomanced our waifu to rejoin us, and now we have even more backing.

Things tend to twist away from the plan.
>>
>>41362974
You opposite that you haven't met yet.

>>41362996
Hey man, I take my crits seriously. And you guys crit like motherfuckers
>>
>>41362947
>familiars
For example: a horse with a flag stabbed into its haunches.
>>
>>41363017
>You opposite that you haven't met yet.

Oh, okay.

So basically the type to preach to us mid-fight?

I FUCKING HATE THAT SHIT!

Reciting scripture is fine, it can be badass as fuck, Anderson is a testament to that, but trying to convert mid-battle?

I'll skin a nigger with another nigger.
>>
>>41362974

Love you dawg. Here's the deal.

1) The Paladin knocking down our front door was tasked to kill us by our former Goddess. That Goddess is a legendary bitch for being completely willing to let us, and our friends, die horribly at the hands of bandits. So, please forgive me for wanting to tear her fucking throat from her body and strangle her with it.

>>41362996

So what's the odd result you're hoping to gain by diplomancing this die-hard supporter of the Lady. This guy:

1) Doesn't know us
2) The Lady hates us
3) He was sent to exterminate us as a favor to his patroness.
4) Why the fuck do we think this guy is going to cooperate with anything????

>>41363029

Yeah, that's a bad idea.

>You gained horse!
>Horse gained useless wounds on its haunches in order to haul your gay as fuck sigil around
>Congrats, you lose everything because you are literally a bridge troll with zero intellect.
>>
Alright, the thread is archived, let me tally up the votes and get to writing. Thinking I'll PROBABLY move over to a new thread, this is gonna be a big one. Cause I have to write-up all that shit.
>>
>>41363059
>Love you dawg. Here's the deal.

B-But dude, I haven't seen anyone suggest we diplomance this guy, or anyone related to the Lady.

In fact, everyone seems to be in a frothing rage at this guy imposing on our turf.

I'M TOO DRUNK FOR THIS!
>>
>>41363080
Actually, I think I'll post it here, and then after this Ima call it a night. Leave the paladin battle for tomorrow. I ran all night yesterday.
>>
>>41363059
>Horse gained useless wounds on its haunches in order to haul your gay as fuck sigil around
Was referring to pic in >>41360399
It looks very much like the flag in the back has been stabbed into the horse

And
>what's the odd result you're hoping to gain by diplomancing this die-hard supporter of the Lady
I wasn't supporting diplomancibg the paladin.
I was saying that there was a good chance he wouldn't be bothering us again
>>
>>41363097

Mein negro, if you can't tell why we want to murder the fuck out of this guy who worships the god that left us for dead, then I don't know what the fuck to tell you. I want you to be on our side, I really do, but if you don't see why we need to brutally kill this fucker then I'm just going to assume you're new here and haven't read the prior threads.

>>41363110

Sleep. I know I'm going to need it soon.
>>
>>41363059

I think what I typed up could be the closest of being mistaken as wanting to diplomace him, and even I didn't mean it that way. Just wanted to have an establishing "You're gonna get your ass beat by a teenager" shot where we don't activate our armor until there's been a bit of banter.
>>
>>41363135

Now this, I can totally get behind. I probably misread your original post suggesting this, entirely on me.
>>
>>41363133
Lostboy.
It's easy to tell you've been drinking.

The guy your responding to is confused because he doesn't know where you're finding votes for diplomancing, not about wanting to kill the guy.
>>
>>41363133
