I am Sief Atanor, heir to House Atanor and the Golem Raziel, and I have a plan. It's a good plan, I think, though I'm a little uneasy at how much danger it places the princess in. Still, if all goes well she will have her behemoth at her side to defend her once the battle starts.

We have three foes to deal with, the illusive giant, Tooth, the clan's pet wyvern, and of course the clan matriarch herself Mama Stump. The plan is to bait them out into the open, then have Quala make use of the still operational, if a little rusted and rickety, artillery on the fort's western artillery station to give supporting fire.

The journey back to where we left Raziel and Kajilapa is, though tense, uneventful. Mama Stump has not poked her head back out since our close encounter before, and her boggarts are maintaining a low profile. To say that Kajilapa is happy to see me would be an understatement, and I have to spend a couple of minutes fending off aggressive nuzzling by the gigantic lizard of war.

“I need you to follow me, we're returning to Quala,” I explain, the behemoth cocking its head a little, staring at me. I have no idea if it understood all that, but as Raziel starts to move, Kajilapa does lumber along behind the golem, sniffing the air.

It's quite a different view of the fort from Raziel's cockpit, the looming bones of the fort no longer towering overhead as the golem stomps out into the grey, evening light. Kajilapa snorts, shuffling off of her own accord towards the artillery station, either she did understand, or she can just smell her mistress, either way, she's doing what we wanted, so I have no complaints.

Now it's time for my part, I have to bait our enemies out into the open, the question is where to start my baiting.

>>
>>41345196
>>41345203
No problem, it has been a while.

The eastern artillery station is where the wyvern is nesting.

The golem hanger is most likely where Tooth is lurking.

Command building, you believe, is where Mama Stump is.
>>
>>41345145
>Golem Hanger

>>41345215
In that case, I'd go for Tooth.
I'm not sure Mama Stump is going to let herself be goaded into this trap and the Wyvern is the least likely to actually get hit by Quala.

>>
>>41345215
Okay then, it's coming back to me now.
>>41345145
>Approach the Eastern Artillery Station stealthily.
Getting those Boggart corpses would be too bothersome, I suppose, so just concentrate on either getting a quick stealth kill in, or bait the wyvern into the are where we plan to shoot the giants, so we aren't caught off guard where we don't have the advantage.
>>41345278
Which is why we should kill the wyvern personally so he won't be an annoyance during the baiting and subsequent fighting.
>>
>>41345312
A golem fighting is anything but quiet.
If we go off to fight the Wyvern on our own the Giants will rush towards us and confront us 2v1.

We need to bait one towards Quala, have her kill them and then deal with the rest now forwarned that we control the artillery station.
>>
>>41345278
>>41345312
The wyvern is the squishiest and has potentially lethal venom that could cripple best girl, or even Quala.
Take out the squishies first so you minimize the enemy's DPS during the drawn out battle with the tanks.
>>41345368
It doesn't need to be quiet, it just needs to be quick, we could likely kill the wyvern with two well aimed attacks, since he could be killed with a single shot from the cannon thing.

First target is the wyvern, with luck I can bring it down quickly, and before it can threaten Quala and Kajilapa. It's a fair way to the artillery station from here, and I don't want to stray too far from the princess, so instead I stoop down, scooping up a loose chunk of masonry and iron support beam.

Winding back Raziel's arm, I throw it full force at the roof of the artillery station. The hurled boulder collides with the already damaged roof of the building, caving it in in an almighty crash which I am quite certain the giants would have heard. No backing out now.

A loud shriek echoes from inside the structure as it starts to give way, structural supports eroded by time and battle cracking and crumbling as the entire building collapses in upon itself, kicking up a billowing cloud of dust. The rubble starts to shift and strain, a scaly figure dragging itself loose. The wyvern, I've never seen one for myself, but it looks every bit as vicious as all the stories I've heard, long sinuous body, taloned feet, long, leathery wings, and a vicious barbed tail twisting and snapping behind it.

It shrieks in Raziel's direction, flapping its wings to lift, but manages little more than a short burst of flight before its wing gives way under it, forcing it to land on a nearby rooftop. Looking closer it seems that the collapse did quite a number on its right wing, the skin torn and bones snapped in places. It may not be dead, but I've severely hampered its movements.

How loud is the cannon fire? Since I assume it'd be obvious that it's an artillery machine being used, just close in and finish it.
If the artillery sounds similar to our handcannon, then have Quala take a single shot at it while we're closing in.

Do we have to reload the handcannon after every shit manually, or is there a system to ease reloading?
How fast can Quala fire the artillery cannon?
>>
>>41345729
>Have Quala open fire on it, stay close to the princess (you could also take a shot at it with your handcannon if you wish?)
Get her to go ahead and take a shot to get a feel for the cannon. No need to worry about noise anymore. If she missed we can use out hand cannon which we thankfully have more ammo for now.

It is very loud.

>Do we have to reload the handcannon after every shit manually, or is there a system to ease reloading?
It's manual unfortunately, it's an old weapon design, there are repeating ones nowadays, as you understand it, but they're still new and expensive.

>How fast can Quala fire the artillery cannon?
Not incredibly quickly, she has to insert a new shell every time, which is a heavy and unwieldy process.

I can already hear movement elsewhere in the fort, the wyvern needs to be put down quickly before I end up in a very unfavourable three on one situation. Charging across the fort, I meet the wyvern head-on, the feral great beast hurling itself from its rooftop perch to meet me.

It hits me in a flurry of teeth and talons, raking off of Raziel's shell. There's no way that will hurt a golem of Raziel's quality though, leaving little more than superficial scratches on the golem's exterior. Ignoring that distraction, I bring the shield up in time to deflect a stab of the stinger, the wyvern screeching as the barbed tail dents and scratches the thick steel. I put the golem's weight behind the shield, overpowering the lighter creature, driving it back and slamming it hard against the side of a barracks, showering the ground with brick dust and blood.

The wyvern, maddened with pain, claws, shrieks, stings, thrashes all for naught, as I push back out of range of the barbed tail, bringing the war sword down in an arc. The heavy blade carves straight through stone, scales and flesh with little effort, carving off a corner of the building, sloughing off rock, timber and iron. The wyvern's body twitches in its death throes, stinger jabbing the air wildly as its headless corpse trashes amidst the rubble. I take a breath, calming myself as the skies break, the pregnant clouds releasing their rains as the storm rumbles in the distance.

(cont)
>>
>>41346525
I step away from the corpse, lest I fall victim to a very embarrassing lucky hit from the convulsing stinger, looking across the fort. Looks like I got Mama Stump's attention, as the large gates of the command building creak open, a massive figure lumbering out into the downpour. She's the largest giant I've ever seen, a head taller than all of her children and twice as wide. A pair of piggy, beady eyes leer out from beneath a heavy brow, an upturned and scar-mangled nose above a wide, blood-encrusted snarl. She clicks with every step, her left leg replaced with a heavy steel peg most likely re-purposed from some piece of golem equipment, I suppose that explains the name.

“What's this then? An intruder in mama's home, stinking of the blood of her dear children, and I bet there's nowhere near enough meat on your bones to make up for it neither,” the giantess sneers, patting her sagging, pockmarked belly.

Her head swivels over to where Kajilapa waits, near the artillery station, her beady eyes squinting.

“Two humans, then, and behemoth meat, I'll get a good meal out of you yet.”

There's still no sign of Tooth, but Mama Stump seems unconcerned by the odds, stooping down to heft up a large rock.

It has an arc it can fire in. Fortunately for you, both the golem hanger and the command building are within that arc, so unless the fight shifts a long way away, it shouldn't be a problem.
>>
>>41346786
To clarify though, the artillery COULD be turned around, since it's not one of the ones fixed in place, it's just that doing so would require it being manually turned around, which would require Raziel, most likely, since you do not have a team of people to turn a big bulky piece of artillery.
>>
I pull out the handcannon, already loaded, levelling it on Mama Stump. The giantess' sneer turns to a snarl as she hurls the rock in Raziel's direction. Mana sparks in the cockpit as the golem darts to the side, the rock crashing into a wall behind me as I aim and fire. There is a cacophonous bang as the handcannon unleashes its ammunition, the thick iron ball punching into the thick, flabby hide of the giantess as it strikes her in the chest.

Mama Stump grunts, crashing back into the wall of the command building, clutching at the ragged, bloody hole just beneath the collar bone. She pushes herself off from the wall, wheezing, one bloated hand still clutched to her wound.

“You little brat, you'll have to do a lot better than that,” the giantess snarls, lumbering towards me with impressive speed for someone with only one good leg.

I have no time to reload the handcannon from this range, so I ready my sword as the hulking giantess bears down on me. Just as she is reaching me though, there is an almighty crash from the golem hanger, a pallid, ape-like beast erupting straight through the wall. It's so malformed it might be a stretch to even call the thing a giant anymore, crooked limbs, a lumpen, twisted torso of fleshy protuberances, and a face dominated by one great, crusty eye, twice the size of the rheumy blind orb next to it, above a mouth so filled with overgrown and crooked teeth that the beast can no longer close it, drooling on the ground as it moves.

It seems that we have located the last of Mama Stump's vile brood, which is now bearing down on me from the right, even as I prepare myself for Mama Stump's charge.

“Quala, Tooth,” I shout out over the communicators, Raziel amplifying the voice tenfold.

With the command given, I turn my attention to the matriarch, bringing up my shield as she bears down on me. She slams into the thick steel of the shield shoulder first, Raziel's joints screaming with the effort of holding ground against the colossal mass of giantish flesh. Heels scrape against stone as Mama Stump drives Raziel back, leaving great furrows in the rock. The cockpit starts to heat up as I force more and more power into Raziel's limbs, until at least I bring the charging titan to a halt. It is only a temporary reprieve, as no sooner have I pushed her back than she starts to lay into the shield with meaty fists, bludgeoning and slamming with no technique, but giving me no time to counter-attack. Arcs of white and blue start to flicker through the cockpit as mana surges to meet the strain. At this rate, Raziel's arm will give out before she does.

At least I only have one giant to worry about for the moment, as Quala proves to be a fast study indeed, catching Tooth in the side mid-charge as the artillery discharges with a deafening boom. The giant is sent sprawling to the ground, blood pumping from its ruined arm.

“Finish off Tooth,” I shout, shifting my weight to the side as Mama Stump hammers against Raziel's shield, letting the blow slip past.

The giantess stumbles, struggling for purchase on her pegleg as I bring the sword around on her side as she passes. The rune-enhanced steel tears into her blubber, flaring bright as the wound boils and oozes. Mama Stump snarls, turning again to face me, the flesh of her side reduced to an ugly, sizzling mess of blackened meat and boiling fat. Still she keeps coming, even by giantish standards her resilience is monstrous, and once again I find her trying to overpower Raziel with sheer brute force.

A heavy blow buckles the edge of the shield, bending the metal, a few more blows like that and it won't last. I sidestep a follow up blow as the giantess pushes me back, only to find Raziel's shoulder colliding with a wall. Damn giant hasn't just been trying to overpower me, she's been trying to force me back into an area where it will be harder to avoid her.

I can see the smug look in her eye as she winds up for another blow. There's barely enough room to swing my sword here, let alone dodge, but I won't be outwitted by a giant of all things. I drive Raziel's foot forward, straight into Mama Stump's leg, driving it into the kneecap at full force. The giantess howls, stumbling as she looses her already lacking balance. She grabs hold of a wall to support herself, trying to pull herself properly back up to her feet, so I follow it up by slamming the hilt of the war sword into her nose.

The massive giantess crashes to the ground, clutching at her nose, swearing and flailing as she tries to pull her bloated bulk back upright.

I hear another resounding boom from off to the side, as Quala fires the artillery once more at Mama Stump's malformed offspring. This time Tooth is ready for it though, and brings its injured side forward, taking the brunt of the shot on its already ruined arm, giving a gurgling, triumphant laugh even as the mangled limb is torn from its body. The giant charges at Quala, its one good arm raised high, and the princess dives from the roof of the building a split second before the artillery piece is reduced to scrap by Tooth's fist. Kajilapa charges forward, catching Quala on her back as she falls, the behemoth snarling at the one-armed giant as the two size each other up.

Quala and Kajilapa are tough, I have at least enough time to make sure Mama Stump doesn't get up and hit me in the back when I go help them.

I step towards the fallen giantess, out of the cramped confines of the ruined walls I was pushed back into. I see Mama Stump scrabbling around on the ground, swearing and spitting blood, her hand closing around a hefty rock, the sight almost hidden as she rolls onto her side, Quala was right, by giantish standards I suppose this would count as being crafty.

As I come within reach, she lashes out with the concealed rock, hurling it at Raziel's face, I knock it aside with the shield, bringing the blade of the sword down on the matriarch's hand, cleaving it off at the wrist. She howls as she claws at the oozing wound, thrashing on the ground.

“One more stump for your name.”

Whatever response she had is cut short as I slam the shield into her chin, knocking the giantess out cold. While a human might bleed out from the wounds I've inflicted on her, giants are freakishly tough, and I've no doubt she'll survive long enough for interrogation despite her mangled state.

With Mama Stump no longer a concern, I turn my attention to the other fight still going on, but it seems my companions are more than capable of looking after themselves. Kajilapa has Tooth by his remaining arm, her jaws locked around his wrist as she pulls the misshapen giant to the ground, bones snapping as the behemoth shakes her head violently from side to side.

Tooth struggles and kicks, trying to break free of the grip, but Kajilapa's sturdy hide weathers the clumsy blows with little trouble. Quala shouts something from atop her behemoth, and Kajilapa releases the wrist. Tooth starts to try to drag himself away, but the behemoth surges forward, crashing down atop the fallen giant and clamping her jaws around his throat, ripping it loose in one sharp motion. Tooth gurgles one last time, pumping great gouts of blood from his torn throat, expiring upon the rain-soaked stone.

Kajilapa sniffs at the carcass, nudging it with her nose, before giving a disapproving snort and clambering off, lumbering up to me and staring up at the shell of the cockpit, snout stained red with giantish blood.

“We did it, Sief, Mama Stump and her whole clan dead, they'll tell stories about this one for sure,” Quala laughs, the princess, drenched from the downpour, grinning up at me from where she stands atop her triumphant mount.

“Everything went according to plan, nice work on the artillery, Quala,” I reply, the princess giving a gracious nod, somewhat ruined by the fact that she still can't stop grinning.

“So what now, you had questions for her before we take her head, right?”

I do, so what exactly do I want to ask Mama Stump when she awakens.

There's no sense in giving Mama Stump any chances to fight back, so I walk Raziel back over to her, bringing the heel of Raziel's foot down on her ankle. On the third stomp I feel something snap, she won't be going anywhere now.

Quala settles herself down on Kajilapa's back as we wait, disappearing inside a thick cloth sheet treated against the rain as it pours down on us. The rain beats down as the minutes tick by without Mama Stump awakening, and I'm just starting to wonder if I hit her a little too hard even for her thick giantish skull when she groans, clutching her face with her remaining hand.

“Welcome back.”

I place the tip of Raziel's sword to her neck as the giantish matriarch groans, blinking the spots from her eyes.

“Today is not mama's day,” the giantess grumbles, beady eyes squinting down at the stump of her wrist, little sign of pain in her voice.

“How much worse today gets depends on what you say next,” I reply, letting the steel press up against the fat of her chins.

“You have questions for mama? Bah, ask them then, and stop your posturing,” the giantess snorts, a sneer on her fleshy lips.

“I want you to think very hard about this one before you answer. Several years ago, you sent one of your children, Bonesnapper, into the Empire to kill a woman named Sofia Atanor. I already know you were asked to do so by a 'Man of the Gloam'. You will tell me why, and who this man is.”

Mama Stump's beady eyes lock on the cockpit for several long seconds, the giantess not even seeming to notice as I press the blade in deeper.

>>41351724
“Because he asked, because he said it needed to be done. That little human woman had blasphemed, so he said, and there's only one punishment for that,” Mama Stump sneers.

I grit my teeth, resisting the urge to run her through right now, I've waited this long though, I can resist a little while longer.

“How had she blasphemed?”

“I didn't ask, you humans are always blaspheming, spitting in the face of our divine right to rule. Mama is no holy woman though, and if the Gloaming Cult says she was a blasphemer, she was a blasphemer.”

“This man, from the Gloaming Cult, that's a lot of trust to place in the words of a human, why did you listen to him?”

“He was nothing, another fool human, some pale skinned northerner, his words mean nothing.”

Pale-skinned northerner. Not Jackel then, as I understand it he was from further south in the empire, a more tanned and swarthy complexion.

“No, I listened because he spoke the words of his fallen master, my the gods watch over his radiant soul, now there was a being that mama respected.”

The giantess is getting all teary-eyed, wrapped up in her memories. I bring her back to earth with a hard kick in her broken shin.

“What master?”

“Orisian, of course, even you fool humans must've heard of him.”

Orisian, the so called 'blessed and immortal dragon of twilight'. Not that he was so immortal when the Emperor's great great grandfather and his legions slew him at the foot of his obsidian temple and shattered his horde of fanatics. I suppose some must have escaped the purge, still working in their dead master's name even after all these days, though that doesn't explain why they wanted to kill my mother. Perhaps that glassy cube is the key, or something else, either way I need more information.

“Did the man give you a name?”

(cont)
>>
>>41351752
“Henrick, or Hinrik, or some stupid human name like that.”

“...and what did he say when Bonesnapper failed?”

“Bonesnapper failed? Bah, I suppose that explains why he never came back. Who knows what the cult did after that, got someone else to try again, mama would wager.”

So Bonesnapper may not have been the one responsible for my mother's eventual death, just one in a long line of pawns. This Hinrik is the one I need to track down, if I want to find out more than that, I suppose.

“Don't understand all this bother over one dead human woman anyway, you humans die all the time anyway,” she sneers.

I bring Raziel's heel down on her ankle once more, Mama Stump gritting her teeth and growling as I press the point of the blade into her flesh.

“I am Sief Atanor, son of Sofia Atanor. You sent your son to kill my mother.”

Mama Stump's eyes widen.

“Bonesnapper is dead, the two who went after him are dead, every other one of your bastard brood in this fort are dead, I've seen to that personally.”

I hear a snort from the giantess. She throws her head back, oblivious to the way the tip of the war sword carves into her skin, letting out a bellowing laugh.

“Well now, aren't you a good lad. I wish my sons had been halfway as loyal to their mama. Now get it done, boy, run me through if it makes you feel better. But don't think you can get the revenge you want, the Gloaming Cult are a canny, and they've got the words of a dragon guiding them, they'll put you down just like they did her if you cross 'em.”

“Not yet, I'm not done asking you questions,” I reply, Mama Stump giving a derisive snort.

“Fine, if you haven't the stomach for it...”

Ignoring her, I push on.

“The cult, where are they based?”

“Who knows, I've met cultists from the Empire and Iquani both, many flocked to Orisian's wisdom in better days, and many still respect the fallen dragon's teachings. If you're looking for a northern human though, maybe you should try looking north,” the giantess sneers.

“What about Jackal, is he part of this too? Are you providing him with parts?”

“Him? No, just some fool human raging against other fool humans, mama's happy to let him do what he wants, but if he showed his head round here I would've bitten it off al the same.”

“Then why are you storing all these weapons?”

“Cult asked me too, why else, said they might need them someday.”

Well that's hardly a comforting thought.

“Fine, one more question. Do you know anything about a cube, glassy, white, about the size of a human head.”

“Should I?” the giantess snorts.

That's a no then. It doesn't sound like the cult shared a great deal with Mama Stump, most likely they saw her as a useful tool and nothing more.

“So are we done here, you going to send mama on her way to think about what she did, or are you going to grow a pair,” the matriarch sneers.

I don't reply, placing Raziel's free hand on the end of the hilt and driving the war sword through Mama Stump's throat, her piggy eyes going wide before the light leaves them. I wrench the sword free, shaking off the blood from the blade. Mama Stump is dead, but rather than resolving my problems, it seems that they are larger than I had realized. The cult of a dead dragon assassinating my mother for 'blasphemy', a cult which, if the giantess was to be believed, has contacts all across the Empire and the Iquani clans.

“She's really dead. Hard to believe, isn't it,” Quala's voice shakes me from my thoughts, Kajilapa lumbering up to take a closer look at the dead giantess.

“She's dead.”

“It's over then, that's one less threat to my people, and some glory for us in the bargain.”

“I wonder, you heard what she said, about that cult...”

“Sure, sure, I'm going to have to talk to my father about this, but that's another problem for another day. Don't get all moody on me, Sief, this is a great thing you've done, so take a moment to enjoy it.”

I sigh, I suppose she is right, I can put off thinking about the cult until tomorrow at least. I open the cockpit, Kajilapa giving a happy moan and craning her neck to sniff at me as she catches sight of me within.

“I'll admit, I had my doubts, but we really pulled it off, you're something else, Sief,” Quala smiles, clambering up onto Kajilapa's raised snout.

“Say... can I take a look, in there where you sit on the golem's saddle?” the princess asks, her smile faltering as she looks off to the side.

I'd think she could see the interior perfectly well from where she is, and it's more than a little cramped in here. There's something else, something at the back of my mind, half-remembered, that I can't put my finger on.

“It's called a cockpit.”

“That sounds dirty, you aren't messing with me are you?”

“No, that's really what it's called.”

It's a one-person cockpit, yes. It's fairly roomy, but it's still going to be a tad cramped with two people in there.

I suppose there's no harm in letting her take a look, I offer a hand, and the princess takes it, hopping up onto the edge of the cockpit. She's... awfully close right now. I clear my throat, trying not to think about it as she puts a hand on the top lip of the cockpit to steady herself. She has an odd smile on her face, looking around at the flashing runic layout around us.

“Amazing, how do you make it move?”

“It's the runic layout, see these symbols here, and when it's closed, there's more in the air here and here,” I explain, pulling my hand back as I accidentally brush against the princess' arm.

“So you just touch the runes here, and it moves?”

“It's a little more complicated than that, you have to channel a lot of mental and physical energy into it, it's mana-based after all, so it mostly works on feelings and emotions, the layout is just there to act as a means to give the commands a more tangible component.”

“...right.”

I think I just lost her there. I suppose most of this stuff isn't something an Iquani would ever encounter, since runic technology like this is still solely the domain of the Empire.

“Basically, it moves because I will it to, the layout just helps focus my will. It's why we have to stay in good condition, despite spending most of our time in battle sitting in a cockpit. A weaker person would quickly wear themselves out piloting one of these, lords who allowed themselves to lose their edge have... well, let's just say that the strain was too much for them.”

“and here I thought you golem riders had it easy. I suppose it's good to know that the people we fought so hard against in those wars weren't just sitting in the cockpit relaxing while their stone shells fought for them,” Quala smiles, her gaze shifting across the glittering display to finally come to rest on my face.

“W-well, thanks for showing me this, Sief. I appreciate it,” she grins, her expression doing little to hide the deep blush of her cheeks. Honestly, if she was going to be so embarrassed, she shouldn't have climbed in here in the first place. Still, that sensible voice in my head is reminding me that I should probably put a stop to this now, this is a daughter of the Great Khan here, I can't forget that.

The "Fair warning, it may get a little... cramped in here" part destroyed any smoothness that the original idea miht have had, you don't hold pauses just to delay finishing a sentence, just makes you look immature and self conceited.

Or the kings of both countrys could look as it as a representation of peace between the lands.
>>
>>41353712
Yes, I do. It wouldn't cause a war if that's what you're implying but it may bar us from entering their lands, keyword MAY.

Other potential responses, IF IT WERE DISCOVERED (which I can't imagine happening since we are deep in the wilderness alone in the recently cleared lair of a giant clan) would be forcing us to marry her or her own exile from the Khans court, which he can afford to do because has literally scores of children

In real life in sexually tense moments it fits the mood and comes off well. Maybe it doesn't translate well to writing

Anon we'd be straight up insulting him his clan and his Nation. He'd want our head at minimum. Additionally since magic is a thing here, they'd find out eventually.
>>
>>41353898
To be fair, magic in the setting, in the form of spells, isn't actually a thing, as far as Sief knows, just magitech stuff with golems.
Unless Quala is to be a virgin sacrifice/embassador to a spirit, I don't see a way for theIquani especially to magically find out if she's a virgin or not.
>>
>>41354005
>To be fair, magic in the setting, in the form of spells, isn't actually a thing, as far as Sief knows, just magitech stuff with golems.
Magic is a thing, but it's a thing that humans can't do, several other low races seem to be capable of it to a degree, as are the more intelligent varieties of titans.
>>
I suppose it can't hurt to have a little fun, as long as I don't do anything foolish, we did just bring down an infamous family of giants after all.

“If you want I can take you for a ride?”

“That does sound like fun,” Quala smiles, still not quite managing to meet my gaze.

“Alright, you'll need to move your hand, this may be a little cramped,” I explain, Quala shifting her hand from the lip of the cockpit to hang on to the top of the seat.

The cockpit swings closed, Kajilapa giving a puzzled snort as Quala waves to her before we're sealed inside. My nose twitches, tickled by her wet hair, the scent flooding my nostrils.

“You weren't joking about it being cramped, were you,” Quala chuckles, an awkward sound, one arm on the top of the seat, another resting against the arm rest, her knee pressed up against mine.

“I did warn you, you might want to look the other way though, if you want to see anything,” I reply, all too aware of how close the princess' face is to mine.

She glances back over her shoulder, gasping as she looks at the viewing screen, seeing out through the front of the cockpit to the fort beyond, and the puzzled behemoth sniffing at Raziel's shell. The princess shifts to try and get a better look, giving an apologetic smile as she elbows me in her attempts. I press my head back against the seat as her repositioning brings her hips dangerously close to my face, before with a sound of triumph the princess ends up facing the view screen, half-leaning against one of the walls of the cockpit, resting a hand on the arm of the chair to balance herself. Well, I suppose it will do, at least I don't have her backside in my face any more, that's... that's a good thing, right?

“Poor Kajilapa, she looks so confused, I should've said something to her before I climbed in here,” Quala frowns.

“Hold on, try now,” I reply, activating the communicators.

>>
>>41353898
That'd be one way to look at it, but at the same time obviously his daughter likes us, and also the (I believe crown?) prince likes us, so as long as it didn't become PUBLIC and force his hand there's a good chance he'd just like, covertly forbid any contact.
>>
>>41354302
“Hmm, she can hear me?” Quala asks, the behemoth perking up instantly at the sound of the princess' voice.

“Don't worry Kajilapa, I'm fine, I'll be back with you in a minute,” she explains, the behemoth giving a grunt as she flops down on the ground to rest.

“So, how fast can this thing go?” the princess asks, looking back with a grin, seems she's regaining a little of her confidence.

With a smile, I start Raziel moving, a slow walking pace. Quala laughs at the sensation as the cockpit rumbles with every step, eyes fixed on the view screen.

“Is that all? Please, I saw you moving far faster than that in the fight,” she goads.

“Alright, but hang on tight,” I reply, picking up into a slow jog, then a run, Quala holding on to the armrest tight as the cockpit jostles and shakes around her, laughing all the while.

“Faster, is that all it can do?” she calls, grin wide on her features. Seems the princess is enjoying herself.

“Please, I haven't even gotten started yet.”

(cont)
>>
>>41354324
I break into a sprint, heading straight down a wide open avenue of the fort, Quala cheers as the fort blurs past the viewing screen, keeping her grip in spite of the rocking of the cockpit. Raziel's feet hammer on the rock, heading straight for a low, squat structure, with a surge of mana to the golem's legs, he launches himself, leaping up and over the building. Quala's grip finally gives way as Raziel leaves the ground, and I reach out to catch her before she can stumble, the princess' wet skin slipping in my grip as we land.

“Ah, okay, you win,” Quala chuckles, as Raziel skids to a halt on the stone.

I don't say anything, various parts of my brain currently locked in debate on how to deal with the situation I now find myself in. The princess sat across my lap where she fell, her body pressed up against mine.

“I... ah,” Quala starts, as she too realises her current position, eyes meeting mine through a curtain of rain-soaked hair, her cheeks flushed, lips parted.

What do I do in this situation?

Eh, I've previously added a variation SEEMINGLY really late in the vote but managed to get it selected through latecomers and a few vote switches. It's always worth a try when you've got an idea that you think is basically an even better version of a different option.

Would it really be so bad if something happened, just this once, after all we've been through these past few days. It's strange, it almost feels like I'm looking in from the outside, my head moves forward of its own accord, and Quala's moves to meet it, a nervous, jerky motion, and the princess yelps as our foreheads collide.

“Sorry,” she mumbles, starting to pull back, but I catch her shoulder, pulling her back in.

This time our lips meet, pressing together, the warmth of her skin against mine almost unbearable. I feel the tension start to ease from Quala's muscles as we cling to one another, her breath hot, her fingers alighting on my chest. I let my other hand rest against her side, feeling her ribs rising and falling beneath the thin, wet fabric. I almost lose myself in the moment, in the feeling, in Quala's warmth. I feel her sinking into me, trusting and innocent, pulling back from the kiss to look into my eyes. I know that she'd let me, if I asked, even if I didn't.

Damn it, I can't. Not here, now, I barely know her, we met just a few days ago. This isn't right. I bring my other hand up to her shoulder, holding her back.

“We shouldn't, Quala.”

“Y-yeah, I guess I got caught up in the moment,” the princess smiles, the strange haze lifting from the cockpit.

“I don't want you to think it's because I don't-”

“Y-yeah, of course.”

Oh spirits, this has become very awkward very fast. My mind races as I try to figure out what to say to salvage things.

Her father's approval will only make it appropriate to have sex with her if we are in fact asking him for the right to marry her. "I want your father's approval first" is at the very least declaring your INTENT to propose, which is frankly as good as proposing.

>>41355542

You're right in general, but if you give a generous estimate of 4 hours per date and an average of 5 dates/month, 70 hours is equal to about 3 and a half moths of dating. It's definitely on the very early end of the proposal distribution graph (lol) but its not an extreme outlier

>>
>>41355598

Harem in these case refers simply to relationships with multiple girls, having mistresses would qualify to this.
And are we sure it's normal for some random guy to have multiple lovers in her culture, is it not only for their king/emperor?
See: Loren, possibly other characters in the future(e.g.there was that proposal of a qt artificer cousin)
>>41355634
You a shit.
>>
>>41355578
I think that really depends on the SIZE of the harem. I mean there's a good chance that we could get away with Quala, a wife from our own country (since lordy has said they wouldn't recognize a marriage with a... whatever the horse nomads are called) and then depending on how permissive those two were a pretty much permanent mistress. After all Quala would probably otherwise end up marrying some clan head who would almost certainly have a small harem. For us to have one would probably not be COMPLETELY approved of but if Quala herself was like "oh those dumb golem fuckers won't accept a marriage with a non-golem fucker so really he doesn't have a CHOICE" it would piss TOO many people off.
>>
>>41355627
Not that I claim to know what Sief's culture thinks of marriages, but in the old days courting a women usually meant that you had plans to marry her. Essentially, we'd be courting her and trying to earn her father's blessing, and we can break off the courtship if we find it's unmanageable
>>
>>41355662
If you actually think sief won't fuck Loren and eventually others too, you're delusional.

That really depends on who we pick. I mean, really if Warlord DOESN'T want us to try to harem, it's his own fault for saying that our culture wouldn't recognize a marriage with Quala which was pretty much equivalent to writing "TWO WIVES: TOTALLY AN OPTION" on the moon with a laser

Hell in AEQ we just chose to fuck one of the loyal retainers of a hostile foreign power, and she became pregnant. I'm pretty sure QM was trying to teach us a lesson about focusing too much on the harem and not enough on the empire

“We're in the middle of nowhere, who would say what happened out here? There'll be rumours enough already,” Quala pouts.

I suppose she has a point there, not that I can do anything about that, at least I have the prince to back me up on why we went out on this mission together.

“You are far too serious, Sief, you know that, right?”

“I have been told as much.”

“You may not believe it, Sief, but I have a lot of suitors.”

I can believe that easily, but I don't respond as the princess continues.

“People who want me to be one of their wives, advantageous unions with powerful clan leaders which would strengthen my father's position. The only reason I'm not married already is because my brother is protective of me, and my father likes him enough not to push the issue yet.

It's very romantic, Sief, and I don't doubt that you mean it. But I can't promise that I'll still be waiting for you when you're done chasing down glory on the battlefield. Would it really be so wrong for us to enjoy our time together now?”

Man why do you need 3 women in every goddamn Warlord quest?
>>
>>41355853
“I can't do it, I'm sorry Quala.”

Quala sighs, slumping down against my chest once more, making me once again painfully aware of her warmth.

“You're an idealist, Sief, the world isn't as straightforward as you'd like it to be. Ahh, and I was all fired up about becoming a woman, too, my mother always said the best place for a girl to have her first time was after a battle, too,” Quala smiles, patting a hand against my chest as she looks up at me.

“Well, never mind, who knows, perhaps someday you really will drag a dragon's head before the khan's throne, wouldn't that be something, he'd probably give you your pick of his daughters for that,” she chuckles, glancing out of the viewing screen.

“Someday, I still have trouble enough with giants right now.”

“Come on, let's get back to Kajilapa, poor girl's looking bored,” Quala shrugs, staying in my lap for the trip back, hopping down onto Kajilapa's head as the behemoth cranes her neck.

That was exhausting, and here I thought Mama Stump would be the most difficult woman I'd have to deal with today. Quala is a fascinating woman, and even now I can hear that voice in the back of my head telling me I made the wrong choice, but I can't risk a war over fleeting passion, no matter how tempting.

Spirits, life isn't simple, that's for sure.

Oh I love smut, but the quest itself is dragging now. Like PGQ did.

>>41355812
1. So a harem is bloody unlikely.
2. Yes, you are. Just about anything that remotely hits a fetish you'll want to harem.
3. Most of them would not accept it from cultural values alone. Harems rarely work unless forced.
4. Stop thinking with your boner and grow the fuck up. This isn't marriage dipshit.
>>
>>41355875
aw That made me sad OP. She actually wanted too be loved.
>>
You reap what you sow
>>
>>41355875
man, I think we made the wrong decision too. And Quala was right, there would already be rumors and shit about us being together.
>>
>>41355882
Honeslty i think all his quests are great but i think its lost steam because Warlord is balancing three quests, and occasionally missing a session means delays across the board. Three seperate storylines are a lot to follow especially when there can often be a fair amount of time between threads of the same quest
>>
>>41355925
Their was no option to fuck her. All options involved telling her no.
>>
>>41355875
Lordy, how come you didn't include a last kiss at least? Emphasis on last
>>
>>41355925
>>41355906
I just view it as motivation for Sief to win her hand.
>>
Thank you all for playing, next time you can do your looting and have the return journey, then it's on to the next arc of act 1. We've barely even gotten started yet.

Any Q&A you have, I can stick around for a while to answer.
>>
>>41355882
just gonna respond to these points
>cultural values
Lel, in both cultures harems and mistresses are accepted thinga
>this isn't marriage
Yes it is, dipshit
>>
>>41355946
Most of the votes for the father's respect option did not also include a last kiss vote.
>>
>>41355875
>>41355853
why you gotta pull on my heart strings warlord

i wanted to get with her
i wanted it to be a casual thing
i didnt want to announce that wed be waiting till her father says its ok
i didnt think itd be an issue cause we were in the middle of nowhere

oh the pain of being in the minority and watching anons vote for all the worst options
>>
>>41355949
What would have happened if we voted
>Kiss her one last time
Would we have another vote to fuck her or not?
>>
>>41355972
but there wasn't really any
dissent for it, either.
>>
>>41355949
How come Mama Stump had so many children? Was she considered mega hot by giant standards?
>>
>>41355906
>>41355925
Still OOc for the trauma'd and super serious Seif to let it happen. It'd be like Batman letting Catwoman get away with a crime for a blowjob.

>>41355964
>Lel, in both cultures harems and mistresses are accepted thinga
One learn to spell, two just because sleaze do it in our society does not mean it's ok.
>Yes it is, dipshit
Not really, it's intention to seek at most.

>>41355978
Never an option anon the character doesn't think that way.

>>41355993
Incest and lots of it.

>>41355972
Can we scavenge the stinger and try to start on that trade road once we get back?
>>
>>41355972
you should have checked to see if anons were cool with it by doing a final destination like you've done with other suggestions. But it's cool, thank you for running.
>>
>>41356018
I think 'trauma' is a bit of a fucking stretch, anon. He doesn't like what his dad became, and that's why he decided not to be like him. It's not because he has PTSD over carnal relations, Sief's not a fucking pansy
>>
>>41355949
Thanks for the run oplord
>>
>>41355978
Cheer up anon, it's not like I'm sticking Quala on a bus and sending her away forever. Unless you do something very bizarre, you'll meet the princess again, and perhaps next time Sief will be more amenable to such things.

>>41355985
No, Sief is just too awkward about the whole thing right now, there would have been more kissing and petting though.

>>41355993
By giants having no standards, and by Mama Stump being large enough to bully giantish males into giving her the D, including her own family.

>>41356018
>Can we scavenge the stinger and try to start on that trade road once we get back?
Sure, there'll be looting options at the start of next thread.

>>41355990
>>41356022
Apologies, anons.
>>
>>41356063
Disgusted then, point is his head is kinda mucked up by his dad being his dad.
>>
Fear about potential consequences: SHUT THE FUCK DOWN. Quala's desire to marry us: quite possibly actively lower than if we had just said "it's not the right time."
Basically I'm not even mad at your dumb choices because I've been 100% vindicated.
>>
>>41355990
That's not how it works.
>>41355978
For me, I would have oreferred nkt atarttig the kiss at all, but now that we did, saying we want to marry her was the worst choice available, i'd rather have gone through with the smut instead.
I wish Lordy would have given hs another choice after Quala said her piece, she basically confirmed she wanted a somewhatcasual thing with no strings attajed but involvig love.
>>41356018
>sleaze
All of the nobility is now composed of sleazebags? No decent person can ever have a mistress he also loves? kek
Oh, you're one of those city management fags, that explains things.
Scabenging the stiger had been discussed several times in the past, and Lordy said lootin would come next thread already, get with the program.
>>
>>41356018
>character doesnt think that way
you're telling me that it wouldnt cross the mind of a 17 year old kid to have sex with the girl hes into even though maybe it wasnt the smartest thing to do? Yeah right.

Before you tell me "he doesnt want to be like his dad" this wouldnt be anything like his father. He and this girl, who he likes and is attracted to, spent 4 days together, worked together to overcome dangerous situations, and are both virgins. This is not the same as laying around your house fucking all your servants who are half your age.

It would have been absolutely realistic for the two of them to hook up.

I guess Salt mind is right, I am pretty salty.
>>
>>41356113
>apologies, anons
ah, it's not big deal Lordy, it would've still been a rejection but it probably would've framed it a little differently. Quala's just gonna have to understand Sief's an utter badass and he'll do what he said he'd do
>>
>>41356125
I am always right when it comes too Salt. However currently I am also Salty. I did what I thought wouldn't get our char killed. I was mistaken.
>>
>>41356113
Any chance the rest of the OWQ Bryna smut getting put into a paste bin soon? As well as the Reaver Isles fluff?
>>
>>41356113
>by Mama Stump being large enough to bully giantish males into giving her the D, including her own family.

that explains a lot
>>
>>41356178
I'm planning to have the Bryna stuff done by Thursday, when I'm intending to run OWQ.

The reaver isles fluff I might get done before then too, I might not, depending on how much time I have, but it will come.
>>
>>41356113
Guess we'll just have to hope Sief lightens up and matures a bit for the next time he meets Quala and can give her what she wants, and loses some of those unrealistic idealist views.
I'll just hold out hope for another ghost encounter and Quala and Sief sleeping in the same tent leading to that heavy petting we missed.
>>
>>41356124
It's how it's worked in the past? Any time there's been an extra suggestion from a few voters, Warlord usually holds another vote about it.
>>
>>41356113
You're still the best man.

How much junk can we bring back with us? Will the loot from this area make a significant impact on our familys wealth?

Would buying or commissioning or making a new golem be a significant improvement over continuing to use our current one?

Next thread when? For OWQ, DoEQ, and GKQ?
>>
>>41356113
>By giants having no standards, and by Mama Stump being large enough to bully giantish males into giving her the D, including her own family.
Any chance Sief and Quala could have caught Mama Stump and one of her sons going at it if we had able to sneak up on them?
>>
>>41356125
Salty that a kid, who's seen his father shirk all duty to his family's ruin, actually does his duty and avoids the thing that he sees as fucking his father up. It's perfectly IC. Seif is about as average a 17 year old as a Dragon is giant. It did cross his mind but he wasn't going to let his actions ruin his family's name any more.

>>41356124
>All of the nobility is now composed of sleazebags? No decent person can ever have a mistress he also loves? kek
That isn't what the majority are for, and if you have multiple mistresses for a harem it's not for love but for fucking. You know that.
>Oh, you're one of those city management fags, that explains things.
Oh, you're one of those smutfags who would rather destroy a character or quest than stick with it for a bit before you get your smut.
>Scabenging the stiger had been discussed several times in the past, and Lordy said lootin would come next thread already, get with the program.
I was making sure anon. Relax. Also learn how to spell. God damn you're bad at it.
>>
>>41356204
You're too good to us Lordy, thank you.

As much as you can load up, although you have to remember that Kajilapa won't be coming back to the manor with you, so unless you can convince the Iquani to lend you another behemoth and rider to help carry your stuff, it will be limited.

>Would buying or commissioning or making a new golem be a significant improvement over continuing to use our current one?
Sief would not willingly give up Raziel, it's the family golem, and his mother's most prized creation.

Any golem you could commission would also be a severe downgrade...

>Next thread when? For OWQ, DoEQ, and GKQ?
OWQ thursday, DoEQ either saturday or sunday. GKQ next monday or tuesday.

>>41356206
Sief growing up is a big part of what I wanted the quest to be about, so who knows, he may well have changed a fair bit by the next time they meet.

>>41356239
>Spoiler
I'm not sure Sief and Quala could have withstood that level of psychological warfare.
>>
>>41356244
Just be aware that Sief just denied himself the fruits of a healthy, legitimate, romantic, and mutual attraction because of his principles.

We know have to play that character.
>>
>>41356329
Yeah, I do know that. It's sadly IC for him at this juncture. For him it's duty before anything else. Mostly because he's seen what happens when someone goes full Hedonist and stops doing theirs.
>>
>>41356381
Sure it's IC, but hooking up with Quala at this stage would have been appropriate and realistic charcter development. I doubt we will find as good a time to consumate things with her.

I suppose it is realistic for a 17 year old to miss oppurtunities when it comes to relationships and let his head get in the way. Everyone has girls they should have done things differently with :|
>>
>>41356472
I'm just sad "it's too early to have sex but not too early to propose?" didn't get explicitly pointed out to him because that would've been a good indication that yes, as a matter of fact his hangups are bad, and not good.
>>
>>41356472
>but hooking up with Quala at this stage would have been appropriate and realistic charcter development
Except Warlord said it'd never happen. Sorry anon. Doing a character 135 in a few days isn't likely.
>>
>>41356552
Im explicitly saying it would. Overcoming an aversion to sex instilled by his father to have genuine romance with a girl his own age would, and becoming a man, would have been DEVELOPMENTS of his CHARACTER that could also be called character development
>>
>>41356684
WARLOD said it would never happen anon. the Qm said it was never an option. It's also a near 180 from what he had been. People don't change THAT fast. This is all moot, word of QM said not happening and we're past it.
>>
Really there was a bit of a structural problem with the options presented, in that the first chance for the anons that want to eventually have Sief Marry Quala got their first chance to actually put that support into a vote, which is good because no matter how much you talk about shit before the vote comes up it's not actually "solid," except that option was probably also the worst way to actually PURSUE marrying her (apart from the friendzone I guess)
>>
>>41356735
You're right, we couldn;t have had sex with her. I'm dropping it but I would have preferred continuing to push the envelope of what Sief would do as long as Warlord would let us. Even if that just meant a heavier make out and no sex it still would have been steps in the right direction.

It doesnt matter anymore though i just wish I'd been there to speak up during the votes
>>
Okay, thread archived here:

Thank you all once again for playing. OWQ Thursday, for those who follow it, and next GKQ will be at the beginning of next week.
