The army “escorted” you all night, and by the time you arrived at the camp of the army, it has already been morning.

You and others gathered in the center of the camp. Judging by the size of everyone here, you could guess that it wasn’t just your village that got an emergency draft, but also other villages in the vicinity, as the number of villagers here is very well over the thousand.

The one who looks like the leader of the army (not the one who captured you last night though) then stood in front of everyone, and began to say. “Welcome. I know this is sudden, and not many of you like to be here, but please try to understand. Our neighbor, the country of Eiz has suddenly started an invasion against us. And due to the sudden of this invasion, the army was unprepared and lacked the necessary man power. So, that’s why I’d like to ask you to lend us your strength, O patriotic citizens of Asier!”

The leader then raised his hands towards the villagers, like he’s expecting to be greeted with a positive feedback, but all he got was noises and confusion from them.

“Well, what did he expect?” Scarlett said, in a voice small enough that only you could hear her. “They took us here against our will for the goddess sake. And what’s with the blunt announcement of the invasion? That would just have started a mass panic among us.”

Also, last thread I made a mistake of not accounting weapon triangle and weapon's weight into the combat. Sorry about that. This thread probably won't have any combat, but I'll try to remember these in later threads.

“What was that? Say that again to my face!” Erkan glared at Scarlett.

“Oh, did I offend you? Sorry, my bad. Actually, I’d be totally shocked if you even have the guts to pick a weapon and step onto a battlefield.” Scarlett laughed at Erkan in disdain. “Whoever it was that cried like a little girl last night about how the soldiers gonna kill us all? Oh, someone whose name started with an E, me think?”

“Why you?” Erkan looks like he’s reaching his boiling point.

“Hm…” The two of them turned away, refusing to face or talk to each other again. You swear these two act like children sometimes.

A little while later, the leader finished his speech and soldiers started instructing the villagers on what to do next. One soldier approached Scarlett. “Girl. Follow me to the big tent. The minister wanted to see you.”

“The minister?” Scarlett raised an eyebrow. “What a minister doing at a military camp here? And what does he want with me?”

“I don’t know why he is here nor what he wants with you. I’m just doing as ordered.” The soldier replied.

“Travis…” Scarlett looks over to you.

“You over there.” The soldier addressed you. “The minister doesn’t have any business with you. Now move along, others will instruct you where to go.”

You look back at Scarlett. She’s still looking at you, unsure of what to do.

“Hm… Don’t go haunt me if the minister decided to execute you because of that attitude.” The soldier said, and then started leaving. You and Scarlett hurriedly follow him.

A short while later, you arrived at the biggest tent in the camp. The soldier stopped at the entrance and gestured you to come inside.

You and Scarlett walked inside, and saw four other people in there. Two of them are clad in full armor, so they must be the generals in charge of this place. One of them is dressed in a long white robe, so that must be the minister. The last one strike you as odd though, as while he does wear armor, it is only the breastplate and one shoulderplate, probably a mercenary, you thought.

“Finally here?” The man in white robe addressed Scarlett. “Hm?” He took notice of your unwanted presence though. “And who are you? I didn’t summon you here.”

The man in white robe, the minister, took off one of his gloves and used it to smack you in the face.

“!” That took you and Scarlett by surprise, but it was just a smack made by a glove so it didn’t hurt much, it shouldn’t be a problem.

“I didn’t ask for your name. I asked the reason why you are here as I remember only summoning the girl here.” The minister said, he then turned to Scarlett and asked. “Does this man here have anything to do with you?”

“Well, er- sir…” Scarlett stuttered, perhaps she is uncomfortable standing in front of a character with high authority.

“Well…” A faint smile bloomed on the minister’s face. “I noticed you were the only female among all the… new recruits. I had thought that my underlings only brought capable men here, so seeing you here was a surprise.”

“So…” Scarlett tilted her head.

“For your sake, I’m ordering you to stay by my side and spend the nights with me in my tent.” The minister said.

“W-what?!” Scarlett flustered and took a step back.

“Now don’t be afraid and understand. This is for your own good.” The minister extended his hand towards Scarlett.

Unsatisfied with just a punch, you got on top of him intended to give the minister a couple more packed punches.

You’re still pissed, but any more violence will just sadden and cause more troubles for Scarlett, so decided to stay your hands and let the minister go. You got up and slowly back away. The 2 armored generals ran over to the minister and helped him get up.

“Guards!” The minister yelled. “Get your asses in here and capture this insolence swine! Capture him and execute him! Put him to the axe! Kill him to death!”

A couple of soldiers, hearing the minister’s yell, immediately barge in. Not much use struggling now, so you just stand there and let the soldiers do their job. All of them jumped at you and forced you down into the ground in just a second.

“Please, I beg of you!” Scarlett crawled over to the minister. “Please don’t execute him! Please please forgive him! I’ll do anything! I promise I’d do anything if you’d just forgive him this one time!”

“Too late now!” The minister angered. “I had good intention and this is what I got! A thousand deaths won’t be enough! Guards! Drag him out and execute him immediately!”

The soldiers immediately pulled you up and dragged you out of the tent. You had thought that this is it. Your life is coming to an end. Though it is a sudden end, you don’t regret your actions one bit.

Plus, we all know that war is with the Eiz is gonna happen soon, executing someone right before a war is bad omen.”

“Grr…” The minister growled. “Then what do you suggest I should do?”

“For now, just throw this guy into jail.” The mercenary answered. “We’ll decide his punishment later when you’ve calmed down a little.”
