The thunder of men's feet and horses hooves fill the night air as the Count's men turned, some to your side, some to Valeriya's, disorder appearing in the line of soldiers. You and your Guard burst into the lines of soldiers and spill their blood on the tips of their lances. The heavy weight of your armored steeds drive some unfortunate men to their backs, only to be slain by the spear of the peasant soldiers. Orders came up from the rear of the column to stand and engage, but panic had already set in. To your left, the front of the enemy column, arrows whistled through the night air and found vulnerable necks.

Valeriya rides up, "Sire, losses were minimal, for the most part his army was too panicked and overwhelmed to respond much against us." You nod your head solemnly, wiping your sword off and sheathing it. "We're an hour out from Baskor. If we allow them to get too far ahead of us, Igor could set his defenses." Her words ring true to you and you look around, thinking about how to best proceed from here.

>A) We have to attack Baskor with all haste and overwhelm him.
>B) I want to wait and fight him at his strongest to truly show he is beaten

"All speed, we make for Baskor, if we overcome any of his men we will ignore them, there is no time for prisoners." Valeriya bows her head and calls out commands to form back up.

An hour and ten minutes later of swift travel and you arrive at the village that Baskor Castle overlooks. The town appears dead, but you know very well that the subjects most likely are asleep in their beds. The Chieftain and Valeriya join you at the front of the column. "Noble sire," the Chieftain begins, a fair bit more cordial than before, "Shall my men silence and ensure the non-interference of these peasants?" Valeriya frowns, "They aren't part of this war, sire," she says strongly, "We should leave them out of this." The three of you lead the column as you pass the first row of small hovels, and the sight of Baskor Castle looms ominously in the distance.

You wave their complaints away, "For now, we focus on the task at hand. How do we get into that Castle?" Valeriya looks up at it and gestures towards the sides of it, "There are a few ladders around the village, we can climb the ramparts and assault from within." The Chieftain laughs, "You'll never make it up the ladder," he says, wiping his eye in a gesture of derision, "Sire! My suggestion is that we create a ram and smash through the gate." The two of them look at you, waiting to see your judgment.

Both.

Give out skinnier and more limber forces the ladders - once most of them are over, smash in the gates with our heavies.
>>

This.

A ram would provide a great distraction for small forces using ladders elsewhere.
>>

"Send the archers and the Khazidites up the ladders. The spearmen and heavy infantry will make the ram and break those gates down. Cavalry will remain distant and flexible to respond to any threats that appear." The two bow and move to fulfill your orders.

As the archers and Khazidites split up, moving for the ladders and making ready to assist the gate assault, you hear a series of trumpet blasts. Your eyes are drawn up to the highest parapet above the gate where stands a large figure. "What is all this!? Who dares attack the home of Count Igor Kruskov?" You call back, "His lord and master, King Valorian Vastov!" The army pounds their shields and slams the butt of their spears against the ground, a thunderous sound. Count Igor, however, throws back his head and laughs, "Oh really? Valorian, you fool, you delivered yourself to me. Now you have saved me the trouble of laying siege to Cernorian." You smile wryly and shout back, "Igor, your army is in shambles, and I have you surrounded. Surrender your castle and lands, and I will allow you to keep your life."

He laughs again and this time you frown at him as he yells back, "I think not, pup, you don't have the strength to take my castle any more than you have hair on your chin. Away with you, as your father did! Do not make me come down there and teach you come manners." Your grimace deepens as gesture in the air for the soldiers to continue their work and take up position at the center of the village.

Ten minutes pass and eventually Valeriya rides out to you, "Sire, Count Igor is declaring that he wishes to duel you in single combat. I would advise against this strongly, he was a powerful warrior in his youth and while age may have taken the edge from him, I am certain that he still has some of the powerful relics and items he found in his time as a wandering hero."

"There will be no duel. A duel is reserved for men of honor and duty. The siege will proceed as planned." She goes off to carry your words out. Ten minutes later two dozen men carry a long shaft of a trimmed down tree. "Sire, the ram is prepared." The peasants carry it with a grim determination, eager to show you their willingness to fight in your name. You give them a respectful nod. "Ram! Advance!" As the ram crew moves into position Valeriya sounds a horn and the ladder teams begin their ascent.

You ride closer to the front now. Archers appear over the crenelations and start shooting their bows down at the levy soldiers who desperately hold a shield over their heads to avoid death. The rest of the heavy infantry units flood in, shields held high, to try and deflect the oncoming tide of projectiles. The slow dull sound of wood against wood fills the air.

However, the tide turns quickly once yells from the sides of the ramparts meet the sound of the thud of the ram. Khazidite soldiers, whirlwinds of steel as they are, rush towards the defenders and drive them to the ground. Eventually the gate yields, revealing a courtyard full of peasants holding spears.

You advance with your horsemen and...

You ride forward, the infantry between you and the peasant mob, and raise your voice. "Your lord and master, the Count, has betrayed his duty to the Crown. He has betrayed his country. Lower your arms, forsake this traitor, and return to your homes. Shed no more blood in the name of a false master." A few of the men grip their spears tighter and maintain their place, but most of them go silent before a few throw their spears down and are swiftly followed by more. They filter up to your soldiers and bow to you.

The gates of the keep are pushed open and out strides Count Igor, clad in incredibly detailed silver armor with a flowing red cloak. In his hand a sword that shines like the sun gleams across the courtyard. "Do you think I need these peasants to kill you, Valorian? Have you forgotten your history? I am Igor the Red, slayer of the dragon Exellios, and sole claimant of his treasure." He sweeps his sword horizontally in front of him, and as if by a force of great wind, his own spearmen are thrown violently into the wall. "You cannot stand before my power!"

Your Guard shift, restless in the saddle and ready to defend you with their bodies if the need arises.

"Archers, loose! Men, with me, charge!!" A storm of arrows rains down from above on the Count as your spearmen rush forward, boldly into combat, making way for your horses to pass between them. You and your Guard rush towards him, lances tipped as he swings his sword, first over his head, and then towards your soldiers. The arrows are thrown away by a blast of wind, the spearmen thrown in chaos. Your Guard are forced to stop their charge and stabilize.

You, however, feel something deep inside you heating up like a poker, as the winds pummel against your skin, but die before they can even interrupt your charge. He raises his sword to defend himself, but you drive your lance into his sword-arm, the weapon biting through the metal as it weren't there. He howls in pain, unused to it after so long. The sword clatters to the ground and you drive the lance-point into the ground, his punctured shoulder forcing him onto his back.

"This is over, Igor, I am stripping you of all your land and titles. You and any of your line shall be forever more traitors of the Crown." You know that he has no children, but the sentiment is heard. You call for your men and quickly have his armor taken and leave the man in only his trousers. He snarls up at you, defiant and spitting like an ass.

The dawn arrives a few hours later to the burning of his flag and the raising of your royal crest. The soldiers you have brought, and those who were still in his army that surrendered, raise many a hundred cheers for your glorious reign. The Chieftain pulls you aside during the festivities. The two of you are standing together in an audience room in the Count's castle.

"Sire, forgive me my impertinence, I had forgotten myself and my duties as Chieftain." He extends his hand and you grip it with a smile, "You are forgiven, Chieftain. I will be calling on you again." The man laughs at your proclamation, "I look forward to it, but now we must away."

Hey KoMGM, going through your links and it really looks like you've done your homework here. I look forward to participating.

I am unsure how we are to actually upgrade our troops or encourage traditions to form, but aside from that I am very interested in the layout you have.

Proposal to other players

>Captured Count Igor
It was mentioned that Count Grigori of Anevski was something of a coward. Let's keep Igor alive for now and hold a little presentation outside of Grigori's castle walls. Show him what we do to traitors that have the gall to resist, then offer him clemency in return for capitulation.

A courier was sent, as soon as you secured the castle, to bring Ralero to your side. By mid-day he was already here. He kneels before you upon his arrival, "My glorious majesty, a stirring triumph. Congratulations on your success." You nod and head up with him to the former Count's bedroom. You seat yourself in his rich chair and gesture for Ralero to give you news.

"Well, sire, with the sudden defeat and imprisonment of Count Igor, it seems that the other two Counts are reconsidering arming their people. Before I departed I receive a missive from Count Piotr asking for an audience from 'his new Lord and Master' . There has been no word from Count Grigori, but I feel that should you go and demand an audience he will cower as easily as could be."

You nod at his information, looking the mussy-haired young man in the eyes, "Ralero," you say, rubbing your bristly jaw, "Did you enact my whims in regards to the training facilities?" He nods quickly, "Of course sire, I have directed our builders to create a proper Archery Range in the capital to improve our soldiers. Additionally, with the capture of this county I have sent their builders back to the capital to begin construction on a Stables, which will allow improvement of our cavalry." You nod, and he pipes up, "Sire, a new week has begun, it is time for you to give your orders to your servants." You lean forward and look at the ledger as he explains what is available.

[On the "Followers" page of the site, you can see that we have 3 Followers available; Ralero, Vasily, and Catherine. Each Follower has an Energy/Week stat. And beneath that they have several orders that you may issue them. As a Follower's loyalty increases to you, so to does their Energy. Please respond to this post with which Action you would like each Follower to take. I will take the majority.]

[Additionally, we now have two Holdings. Each Holding may be committed to working on a single task. With the indicated responses from last thread the Capital is working on an Archery Range, and Esmerin (our new holding) is working on a Stable. Possessing these facilities will allow us to establish Traditions.]

[Traditions are "upgrade paths" and once the facilities become available, the Traditions we have access to become available. However, the options presented are not the only possible options. An example, if we ally with the Centaur Warbands in the south, we can create a Tradition of Centaur Warriors as Special Cavalry. As the Kingdom gains more resources and allies, we can establish more traditions.]

[Finally, at the start of each week we may assign Resources. This week's Resources are spoken for with construction, but starting next week you may spend them as you wish. Resources represent money, supplies, and manpower without bogging us down in greater details. These can be spent on construction, recruitment, gifts to other nations, and finally on improving Guilds. The Guilds improve the quality of the Kingdom, and improving the Smith's Guild improves the quality of all of our soldiers.]

You nod your head at his lecture and at your options. "Very well, Ralero, I command..."

Expensive I know (though I would like to see an actual price), but I think we need a gift to secure the Alliance of Queen Bethenne.
Have Ralero work up a bit of diplomacy, set the foundations for talks about an honest-to-goodness alliance and such, before we present Her Majesty with a dazzling gift. Either a beautiful dress or some gorgeous glasswork represenative of La Faresse and Vastov friendship.
After that we'll give our guildmaster a break.

Now that's more like it (assuming he isn't ballsy enough to pull a trap).

I still think >>41288795 will do the trick on Count Grigori, but with Count Piotr I believe a different approach is necessary. He's a skilled enough commander that we actually studied him in our tutelage (if I'm correct) so he might have a place in the reformations of our kingdom's army.

TL;DR Basically, cow Count Grigori into submission but deal with Count Piotr as a potential loyal-subordinate.

You give your orders to Ralero and he bows his head, "I will make your will known, my Lord. I will also arrange that meeting for you. Finally, I will return to your side on the dawn of the fourth day." And with that, your faithful servant leaves.

The courier returns later that night with a message from Count Piotr. He has welcome you to his home in the afternoon tomorrow on the second day. You agree and the courier heads out to deliver your message.

~Morning Secondday~

After a lovely breakfast reports reach your ears of a tax-skimming scheme uncovered by Catherine. The criminals are brought before the Watch and sentenced for five years in hard labor for their crimes. [Corruption Reduced to 17%]

You dress in your finest garments and ride with your Honor Guard to the home of Count Piotr.

A fanfare worthy of a king welcomes you as you approach his castle. His soldiers, dressed in their finest liveries, salute you and kneel as you pass. At the gate to his castle stands the Count himself. He bows and then takes a knee before your horse. "Greetings, my glorious Master." The older man's face carries a poorly-healed scar and he kisses your boot.

After the required pleasantries he takes you into his castle and into the Great Hall. There, he offers you his seat, which you politely decline, sitting opposite him. The older man rubs his neck and laughs, "I must say, your Majesty, when news reached me of the downfall of Count Igor I knew at once that you were a far greater man than your father ever was, may his afterlife be kind." You nod, though slightly take offense at the mention of your father, it is hard to disagree with him.

The man leans back in his chair, "Very well, sire mine, let me begin, forgive me for my lack of brevity," he apologizes ahead of time as he closes his eyes and begins speaking.

"La Faresse to the north is the most easy to speak of. They are a nation of miners and farmers. Their army has dwindled to the point of irrelevance, as the vast majority of it is tied up defending their border to the east from the much more dangerous enemy who battles the Order of the Tower, the Tyranny of Raksha. Tyraness Raksha is a deadly foe to draw the ire of, and her soldiers are the perfect soldiers; unblinkingly loyal, disciplined to perfection, armed in personal fortresses, and wielding weapons that are empowered by sorcery. We are fortunate that the Order is so determined to battle against her, lest her baleful eye fix upon us."

He waves his hand, "I've wandered off topic. It would be easier to take La Faresse with honey than with steel, but doing so may turn the attentions of the Tyranny upon you, something that would be best preserved until your strength is appropriate." He takes a drink from his new cup of wine, "The Western Raiders would be where I would turn my attentions. The mountains are treacherous, absolutely, but we have citizens who know how to negotiate them, and doing so with a glorious warhost would scare those barbarians into submission. However, I have also heard that there is a mysterious group that lives in those mountains. I would investigate that."

"The Centaur Warbands to the south are a waste of resources and, in truth, their demands will only mount with time. For now you appease them, but what is to stop their warlord, Rugar, from simply marching his herd through the land until you pay him tenfold what you pay him now? If you wish for a more immediately resolved point, I would increase ties with the Centaurs and change their opinion of us from prey to partner." The Count begins tapping his foot on the ground as he thinks about everything as best he can in his inebriation.

"The Seelie Court are not to be trusted, for it seems their opinions and temperaments shift every year. If you were able to find a Mage of sufficient skill to understand them, perhaps ground could be made with relations." He pauses to roll his neck, "The Order of the Tower is the other half of the war in the north. Those zealots are single-minded in their dedication to cleanse the impure. Appeasing them would be relatively easy, and would yield great benefit, but doing so would put us squarely in the eyes of the Tyranny. I know not what lies beyond the Centaur lands to the south or beyond the Great Western Sea. That concludes our relations."

Adjusting himself, he continues, "I rule my county very loosely, but I place emphasis on mercantilism. As I control the northern passway into La Faresse, I have established a Merchant's Guild that is now, of course, under your command, sire." He bows his head to you and proceeds...

"The largest issue now, military. Our Traditions have been lost through the time of peace we have enjoyed for so long, but in my humble opinon, our military would be best served through a few key points of improvement. First, peasant soldiers are excellent and spirited defenders, but I would allow them no further than the border without greater training, they fear the outside world. Raise large garrisons of peasants and create fortresses in key areas that they can quickly occupy and defend."

Since we're already working on a Stables and Archery Range, I recommend that our next step be working on our Line Infantry. They are the majority of our forces and they are woefully ill-equipped and trained.

Levy's just aren't good enough, we need professionalism.
>>

"Second, most militaries in the world employ large numbers of line infantry, but as I'm sure you've read in one of my writings, if I could be so bold, sire, I would suggest the slightest improvement of our line infantry beyond peasants. Then, I would place emphasis on superior archers, mages, and heavy infantry. A battle that is worth winning is not worth grinding a thousand men to death on our side. The line must merely hold, and allow for our forces to slip around the foe and crash upon them like a fury." He grips his fist to emphasize his point before clearing his throat apologetically and sitting back.

"Third, our iron stores are woefully low. Placing a greater focus on trading with La Faresse would be prudent. On that note, I would also do whatever I could to increase the number of Agents, Commanders, and if I were so lucky, Heroes that would obey my word. These persons of exceptional note allow a King to become a legend."

Nodding he clears his throat again, "Finally, if you truly wish to challenge even the greatest of foes, I would highly encourage tutelage from the other races. Some will sell you mercenaries, but if they are fond enough of you, they will let you raise troops from their number. Through their knowledge and talents, you may discover Traditions that no other human kingdom could hope to match."

He lets out a long breath, "At least, that is what I would recommend." he smiles kindly at you and stands, "Permit me, sire, but exhaustion embraces me. In regards to your last question, I politely submit my application to be a Commander in your forces. Please, take it under consideration."

You thank him for his lengthy advice and go to your room, your Honor Guard protecting you as you sleep. You fall asleep deciding to...

You awaken with a mind ablaze with dreams and ambitions. Attendants and courtiers plague you with minute information and greetings but you wave them off, after making certain that they weren't saying anything important. You summon the Count who presents himself with a slight wince, apparently recovering from his wine-fueled fervor last night.

"Ah, Sire, I am pleased to find the morning treating you well." You nod his courtesies away and then speak, "Count, tell me, do you have a Drill Yard in your county?" He smiles, "Why, of course, sire, I do. I train my men there." You smile wider than before and explain, "Then, by order of the Crown, your drill yard will serve as the National Academy until such a time as I can construct a better one. Soldiers from the realm will be sent for training." He nods politely, "Very good, sire, and may I also offer my builders and treasury for whatever you wish to build here?"

[What should we build in the Ruston Province? A full building and unit-tech tree will come soon, but for now, your choices are...]

Hate to leave a job half-finished.

I'm sure witnessing the fate of the late-Count Igor just out of bow's range of his castle walls will encourage Grigori to bend the knee.

When that happens, go twice as hard on him with taxes and demands for manpower as we did on Count Piotr.

If he still doesn't bend the knee, we get to make another example.

"Neither, I shall bring this land together. Thank you for your hospitality, Piotr." You shake his hand and leave swiftly with your Honor Guard.

By late afternoon you arrive outside of Grigori's castle, your Guard behind you and as many levy as you could gather from Igor's castle. The town by the castle is actually vacant, and you realize that Grigori probably pulled them inside to keep you from turning them against him. His castle is, as you were told, titanic. The buttresses of stone alone are daunting in power. If you had to take this castle by force it could take a year or more, so grand is its size. Yet, and you know this, you will not be forced to.

One of your guards blows a thunderous note on the horn. A small figure appears over the rampart. You wave and from the line of your levy is dragged, in chains, the former Count Igor, gagged and bare-chested. You call up, "Count Grigori, your King has returned. Igor was unwilling to accept my return as truth, but I bring you the proof of my claim. I am King Valerion Vastov, lord of this land and your rightful Master! Your reticence on the matter of my coronation not withstanding, you were not as wise as Count Piotr to approach me for mercy, so to you I offer this chance. Lower your gates and disarm your soldiers. Come to me and swear your loyalty, or I shall visit a punishment far worse on you than I did on Igor."

The figure vanished as soon as you are done speaking. Not two minutes later the titanic steel-reinforced wooden doors creak open and Count Grigori, red like a tomato, sprints out towards you in a very undignified fashion. He comes alone and without armament, it seems. Once close he stops, heaving and gasping for air, dropping to his knees and raising his hands over his head.

"Fo....for-forgive me, sire!!!" The man's voice finally gasps out as he drops his forehead to the ground, not moving it, begging like a criminal about to receive his death, "This was all Igor's idea!"

The chained man makes a noise of opposition but his chain is jerked until he remains silent. You lean forward in your saddle, "You speak the truth? This idea was Igor's?" The supplicant man nods, "Yes, sire, yes...." He crawls closer, "Piotr was threatening war on us when your father took the throne, and Igor told me that if we didn't unite and pull as much as we could from the Crown that he would overwhelm us. I did not mean to be so flagrant in my defiance, please, forgive me sire, spare my neck! It is Igor who you have, and it is he who you want."

You look down at Igor who glares back at you, defiantly, not agreeing or disagreeing with the man's story. "Fascinating story, Grigori." You dismount and draw your sword, causing the pudgy man on the ground to whimper like a wounded beast. His dirty-blond hair was askew from his run and his jowels quiver in terror as you near him.

"Do you swear your duty to the Crown, and your loyalty to me, Grigori?" You ask as you put the tip of the sword under his chin and gently lift his face to look you in the eye. He nods rapidly, mindful of the sword, "Yes, yes, Sire, a thousand-fold, I do sire!" You nod and move the sword away, "Then you are forgiven, Grigori. You will be taxed as the Ruston Province, and I demand a muster of your soldiers, as many as possible." He crawls forward and grips your leg, "Forgive me, sire, please do, but I have no standing army. Igor promised to protect me so long as I stored his wealth here, and developed my county's Resources. Please, allow me to give you builders instead, hammer and nails in lieu of sword and shield."

You look at him, "Oh, did he now? Well...I shall ponder on that." You walk away and stand above Igor who shifts menacingly in his bindings. "Now...how to deal with you..." You muse as you twist the sword in your hand.

I'm in favour of a public execution though, the peasantry always get a kick out of that sort of thing.

>Count Grigori
He's a coward, but now he's a coward we can reliably keep cowed.

Has the Count any sons? Young children? Take them as wards. Hopefully under better tutelage they will prove not only loyal, but braver and more capable subjects than their distinctly unimpressive father.

(I also think it far more likely Piotr actually masterminded it, getting Igor to bully Grigori. But let's let bygones be bygones there, eh?)

You put the sword's tip in your left hand and observe it. Grigori's chest heaves up and down, now from nerves, as you think about it, glancing over at him with murderous eyes, causing the old man to nearly sob in terror, before you lock eyes with Igor and then call out to the castle.

"Witness, all ye who doubt the power of the Crown. I am King Valorian, I will rule with dignity and mercy. Those who obey my rule shall be rewarded in our path to greatness. Those who defy..." you pause the sentence and swiftly run Igor through the stomach. A collective gasp rises from the castle as his blood pools in the grass. "Shall be punished." You remove the sword and wipe it off on Igor's pants. "Give him no succor, he may not be touched by any healer's hand," you order your soldiers, "Tie his body to that post," you say as you indicate one of the bridge supports, "Make sure his fate and the reason for it is known."

A few tense minutes later and Igor, dripping with blood, hands by wrists from the post with a sign saying 'I Betrayed' dangling around his neck.

You face Grigori and pull him up to his feet, "Count Grigori, I will gladly accept your gift of the builders, but demand that all of Igor's stashed funds be sent to my castle. You may use my soldiers to ensure its safe arrival." He nods rapidly and bows just as quickly, "Thank you, sire, thank you for your mercy."

A few hours later and a foreman approaches on bent knee, "Your Majesty, here is what we can offer you."

You tell him the indicated ones and he bows, "Very good, sire, I will let the word be known. As you wished, I will now begin my duty of keeping my notes on the Realm. I will return on the Weekdawn."

With his departure you assemble your men and take leave of Grigori's castle, heading, finally, back home. [Bethenne and Army Command has it]

You spend the better part of a day with Eleisha giving you advice on how to compose a letter for a Queen. You fill the letter with both proper manners and enough of a personal message behind it to convey that you wish to strengthen the bond between your two nations. The night has fallen by the time that you send the courier off with the letter, knowing that she will get it by morning. As you sit with Eleisha she chats with you, "Sire, in the Order lands they have a most ingenious system to send letters, through the use of magic they can communicate across their realm nearly instantly. It is a sight to behold. Perhaps we too can one day enjoy such a thing." You take her comment to heart and thank her for her help.

The next morning you gather Piotr and Valeriya together in a room with a scribe and command them to educate one another on the skills and tactics of a great leader of men.

[Army Command Overview part 2 is on the home page of the site. You gain +1 Strategy and Tactics, and increase Valeriya's loyalty to Devoted. Valeriya is upgraded, and her personal forces have been upgraded to reflect the newly improved soldiers as a result of your training facilities. She is on the cusp of becoming "Elite" when a Follower becomes Elite they unlock a new special mechanic or rule, however, they can usually advance no further.]

The day is long, full of charts and graphs, designs and debates among the two of them about more useful and relevant tactics. This continues as soon as you convene with them again the next morning and dismiss them in the evening. Despite their arguments, you feel vastly more educated on the topics.

On the Lastday the courier returns with a letter from Queen Bethenne,

"Your Majesty, King Valorion Vastov;

It is with the lightest heart that I read your last communique. I am pleased to see that the tongue of a poet rests in your head, dear King. News of your conquests reached my ears not long after their completion, and your decisive action is one that I admire in a ruler, specifically one that wishes to be called my peer.

Though courtesy demands you extend the invitation, and that it is unseemly for me to do so, I formally invite you to a State Visitation to my palace in Creccy in two week's time. I will host a grand feast for your arrival and we shall celebrate the reunion of both your Kingdom and the rulers of La Faresse and Vastov.

Yours in Truth,
-Queen Farrah Bethenne of La Faresse"

But lets be serious understanding a fae is like trying to understand an autistic psychopath that was dropped on the head when he was a child.

You confirm that Vasily will be the most prudent course of action as you settle down to sleep for the night.

~Week 2, Newday~

"Sire," the familiar voice of Ralero stirs you as he bows politely, holding that ledger of his again. "The time has come to issue your orders for the week, sire." You nod, blearily and sit up in your bed. "Proceed, Ralero."

[Drill Sergeant's Report

6x Levy Line Infantry -> Spearmen
3x Levy Heavy Infantry -> Man-At-Arms
3x Levy Archers -> Bowmen]

The Sage has reported that he has discovered rumors of a band of fierce warrior women who live in the mountains. It is said that their mastery over combat is unmatched in the kingdom, and that they regularly prey on the Raiders of the West Sea. They are called the Mavens of War.

Special Event:

"Sire," Ralero reports as he flicks through his notes, "Word has reached me that one of the horses that was brought to the stable, as soon as it was built, has a mark on its head that is clearly that of a sword. The Sages say that this horse is destined to be a true warrior's steed and would be a fitting gift for a Hero of worth. It will take no rider, yet it looked to your family crest expectantly. I will make certain it is taken special care of until such a time as you decide to give it to someone."

[Gained: 1x Horse of Omens]

[Your Followers stand ready for your orders. Vasily is ordered to create an object of beauty in two weeks time for Bethenne. Orders for Ralero, Catherine, and Eleisha?]

[After we have given orders we will decide the new project for the builders.]

Dude! Quest looks awesome, im totally impressed by the website!

Should we expect a map anytime soon? If we asked a knowledgeable character for one could it be provided?
>>
>>41294238
[Ralero will attend you. Catherine will create a new trade with La Faresse for iron. Eleisha will do what she can to reduce corruption. She will then guide Vasily in his efforts and offer him a measure of spiritual relief from the hard work.]

Ralero nods his head, "Yes, sire, I will send my subordinates to carry out your orders. I am pleased to be by your side, sire." He calls for couriers and his servants to deliver the letters to your followers.

"Sire, the Foremen of the provinces are looking for guidance in labor. They await your command." As he presents you the sheet to sign he pauses, "Forgive me, sire, as I was travelling I heard word of several Khazidite hunters who were stirred by your campaign and wish to form a permanent lodging in the city again. The Khazidite Lodge that was created by your grandfather has fallen into disuse, perhaps a renovation would give life to it again? An additional thought, sire; there is word around the realm that some of the local traders speak of a new designation of Unit, Light Infantry. They claim that many armies are taking up these versatile soldiers who can combat just as easily at range and in melee, but are not particularly able to resist counter attack. They are, rather, a surgical tool used by a clever general."

[You have 4 Builder Crews. A Building's BC Value is how many Builder Crews will construct it in a week. This number can be exceeded to accelerate its time needed.]

I think building better relations with the centuars would be best, making them think of us as a partner more than prey. Like what was recomended. The better our relationship, the less likely they will attack us at random, and enslave us.
Also I don't think for the next week or two we will have anyone on rest, so having the gardens shouldn't be a priority yet. I do say next time around I am likely to vote for gardens.
>>
>>41294642

>>41294747

[Roads and Lodge are clear winners, Garden and Skirmisher School tied, so we can compromise, pay 5 Resources, and hire a new Builder. We may do this once per week. Buildings, past the base level ones, will begin to cost large amounts of resources. The base ones are "free" in terms of Resources.]

Ralero takes your orders down and sends it off to the foremen. "Excellent, sire. The Kingdom will be operating smoothly. We have a great deal of time this week, and no issues seem to be currently needing your attention. What shall we do next?"

we arent ready fo dat yet man, we've gotta improve our army and our already extant tribal relations first.

it'll be good for them to see how good our relations are with the tribe that is already under our authority

maybe we should also improve personal combat first as well

We seem to have won over the Chieftain.

But we should probably get the Centaurs off our backs before we launch a new campaign.
>>
>>41295038
our personal relations with them are nascent yet positive. i just think we should solidify our reputation among them before we move toward more tribal alliances.

i agree that the centaurs should be our nect priority
>>

>>41294924

"We shall pay a visit to our good friends the Chieftain and his Khazidites. They are our countrymen, though they pay taxes in blood and steel rather than gold, it would be good to share a sense of brotherhood with them." Ralero nods his head, "Of course, sire, that would be most prudent."

The two of you head downstairs, him idly chatting about goings on that he saw last week, while you listen politely and smile. Despite your relatively new relationship of only a week and some days, Ralero is very easy to talk to. You mount your horse and call your Royal Guard before setting off to the Khazidite lands. On your way, you see crews of men digging up the ground and directing massive carts, pulled by oxen, with bags upon bags of sand. Your new roads already at work. They pause their work and cheer, waving their caps and calling out, "The King! The King! Long live the King, Valorian!" You wave politely as you pass them and let the trip take your thoughts away for a moment.

Several hours later you arrive in the Khazidite camp, only this time to a much warmer atmosphere. Groups of children gather around your steeds, holding up tokens of thanks for bringing home their fathers, and the women bring sturdy wooden bottles of drinks. The men cheer for you as they do their own Chieftain, and at the noise the bearded man himself appears.

He extends his arms wide in a gesture of greeting, to which you dismount and embrace him quickly, as is typical for the Khazidites to do. "My liege, King Valorian, it is an honor to see you. However, I fear we cannot rest on our laurels and let the sun wipe the sorrows away, there is something you must see."

>>
>>41295038
I agree. We should see about fortifying our borders, and increasing our fighting power.
>>
>>41295088

He leads you and Ralero to a strange wooden square, not so much a building as it is the skeleton of one, "In here." He lifts the leather flap that serves as a door and you enter it. Inside is a tall man, a huge man, with shoulders nearly half again yours. His teeth are missing, clearly knocked out, and his blond hair twisted into a single long ponytail that reaches his waist. His beard is kept short, save for the goatee which reaches nearly his belt. From his garb, a chain shirt and firm boots, you can tell that he is a warrior. "This man, this raider and his group descended the mountains."

You feel your blood run cold, "And you slew them all?" You ask, calmly as the man laughs, speaking in a barely comprehensible form of your own language, "I zas zlow, vot bedly, lotle min kyetch mi." You look at the Chieftain who quickly says, "He says that he was slow, fought poorly, and that the little men caught him. He is referring to my hunters." You face the Chieftain, "How many escaped, and how long ago?" The Chieftain strokes his beard, "Three escaped, two died, and we captured him. This was at dawn. It takes nearly a day to get through those mountains, and that's if you know where you're going. I am unsure of their knowledge of the pass."

You look at the huge man who grins a toothless grin, "Ve ur kimming."

[And with that, we're going to put a stop on the show for tonight. Thanks to all of you for playing! I had a great time, and I'll be working on the map tomorrow. It should be on the site tomorrow night. I am not sure when I'm going to run again, it may be earlier than next week Friday, it may be Friday, but no later than that. I'll post it on the Twitter.]

Thank's for running I'm really enjoying it so far.
>>
>>41295173
Thanks for running, really enjoying your writing. And the website, a lot of preparation.

So what is our corruption level at now?
>>
>>41295265
[The Gods of the world are many. Each race has at least one god, and usually a pantheon. For humanity there are two major deities, Thusk the Tower and his sister Onnara the Wise. Thusk is a god of civilization, progress, war, industry, and kings. Onnara is the goddess of farmers, nature, the wilderness, simplicity, and agriculture. Both gods are revered openly, but some, such as the Order of the Tower, believe that Onnara is a false goddess that is there to lead humans astray.]

>>41295269
>>41295243
[Glad you guys are having fun!]

>>41295323
[I appreciate it a lot man, the website seemed fun and kinda necessary for the complicated mechanics I wanted to use. Corruption 1/100, haven't eaten nearly enough weird stuff we stole off imps yet.]
>>
>>41295374
could we dedicate temples to other gods to gain their favor? What would we have to do to get favor anyway.
>>
>>41295431

[Certainly! Though non-human gods are not likely to listen without a Priest of their race providing ministry...As for what you would do, each God is different, but their followers would know how best to tell you. It should be said, however, that the most faithful are often some of the most powerful soldiers.]
>>
>>41295488
That could be interesting. Could you tell me how religious our people are and would the other races look favorably on us if we had temples and proper priests to play tribute to their gods? Are the human gods the jealous type?
>>
>>41295549

[Most humans in our kingdom and La Faresse are non-religious, or pay simple homage to Thusk and Onnara. It is our country's lack of devotion that initially drew the ire of the Order of the Tower. Though both gods are responsible for the creation of humanity, they do not demand worship from humans, as they also receive it from other races.]

[If we were to undertake worship of another race's god with true faith and belief? Yes, they would look favorably on us. Some races may even extend their good fortune to past an alliance with such a display.]
>>
>>41295591
VERY INTERESTING. I'm thinking we might need a cultural and personality overview of the country to get a better feel for the right plans.

How is the magic in this world? Is there good or evil magic or is it just a force of power to be used?

I'm surprised we don't have a wife or a bastard to legitimize...maybe that should be rectified.

Would giving homage to local gods and spirits help elevate them in power or would it only get us on their good side?
>>
>>41295664
[As well as a good assessment of the world at large. Our view of the world is pitifully limited by our natural borders and our own internal divisions. There are (probably) lands past the Centaur Warbands. What's out there? No clue. The last person in our family to have gone there was Cernos himself, probably. He was the last in our family to really explore the world.]

[Magic in the world is divided into several groupings, none of which are good and evil, though those who cavort with spirits and fae are often considered by the common folk to be evil, there are good spirits and good fae.]

[We were put in the throne at a young age for our Kingdom's tradition. Most Kings received the crown in their late 20's. However, both us and our father were pushed to rule sooner than tradition would have liked.]

[The gods and spirits do not need our worship. Some Seers and Sages say, but no one knows how true this is, that the energy of the world sustains them and that they are simply static beings without the ability to change. Worship and homage simply make them happy, which could drive them to show you favor.]
>>
>>41295751
Very, very, very interesting. How many wives/concubines can we have?

How big are you going to make the world?

I have a feeling that big things are going to happen, very big things.
>>
>>41295811

[Cernos had only one wife, and so did his children. It is traditional to have a single wife. It is not mandatory, nor is it against the will of the gods, but it is considered "proper".]

[The part we know of it is but a fraction of the beast.]

[Who knows? It's a big wide world out there. And with that, I'm gonna head off to bed. Thanks again, matey. Keep your eyes on the bird for the update.]
>>
>>41295845
