Sup, tg, I'm back, and the quest with me. Let's do this!
--//--
You awoke, the morning sun illuminating the room. The day before, after some monsters attacked you and Tristan, you discovered your brothers were given vacations, and that your mother would be coming today to visit, before going back to the company.
After a long time working in the army, you can tell approximately the hour by looking at the position of the sun, and as it seems, it's still really early. What are you going to do?
>Chose 2 options.

>Sleep some more, you deserve it.
>Go have breakfast before your brothers do it for you.
>Make yourself presentable for your mother, maybe she'll compliment you, even...
>Go to the library, you have something you want to know... (If this, roll 2d10)
>>About the creatures of yesterday.
>>About the Ambrosius family.
>>About (Write-in).

Okay, tiebreaker then writing. First option is breakfast, second:
1 - Search information on the creatures.
2 - Presentable for mother.
>>
>>41206460
Surely now mother will acknowledge us.
>>
>>41206237
Really anon you know our mother hates us.

>>41206523
You're an idiot. She loathes us.
>>
>>41206533
Just because she hates us it doesn't mean we can't yearn for her love.
>>
>>41206647
But there's more important shit like maybe, finding out what nearly killed us yesterday.
>>
>>41205680
It's just a matter of time before the breakfast is gone, your brothers to blame, so putting some clothes quickly, you run down the stairs and soon you see yourself already eating when your brothers get in, and leaving just after some hugs and 'good morning's.
As you reach to your room, you gather a trio of young maids with you, confident. When your mother gets in the house, she'll not see an assassin, but a beautiful and feminine lady, like herself. If you can at least be presentable, she can''t insult you, and who know, maybe she'll even compliment you! It's a win-win, and as soon as you four enter the room, you start. Some hours go by, and soon you see yourself in a mirror, looking at the image of a pale lady, with bright, blue eyes, with long and dark eyelashes, giving her an sensation of mystery that is enhanced by her gentle smile. Her short and black hair is falling at the sides of her face, a little curled. She's using a long purple dress that looks normal, but opens in wave-like pattern a little below the hips, showing her long legs. Damn, you're looking so great right now you couldn't even recognize yourself. Good...
Soon, going down the stairs slowly (painful shoes, but too a good performance.), you find your brothers in black vests, already waiting as you make your way to the middle of them. Minutes of silence pass, and finally, the door opens, revealing a woman. She looks like a older version of you, with long braided dark hair, and cold dark-grey eyes, staring intensely at you from behind her false smile. She's using an black sleeveless dress that covers from the middle of her neck to her knees, giving her an aura of influence.
Your brothers walk at her, giving her a great hug, and for a second, you see a real smile in her lips, until again, the eyes are on you, cold and dead.

>''Hello, mother. It's good to see you...''
>''So you're back, huh?!... Welcome, I think...''
>Say nothing, just join the hug.

You smile, gently, and cross your hands on your back, looking at her with an expression you know she can understand: Pity.
''Hello, mother. It's good to see you... Welcome back home.'' You say as you grin a little, like a happy little girl, but she doesn't look so pleased... Her stares are intense, it's like she's imagining you being tortured and killed right here, right now. It's sort of creepy.
''Hello, Joanne.'' She says with her normal, cold tone, and turn to your brothers, the three exchanging mutual attention between then while you're there standing, just smiling. This sucks.
After some time, you just give up and start to talk with Hart, and soon they're gone. Well, you can suppose that's better, now you have time to do your thing.

You start walking, to no specific direction, as you star to go deep into the house unconsciously. You just know the house that well, that you can walk in almost every direction and get where you want. Soon, you're at a large wooden door, her frame inscribed with runes, work of your late father, and apparently, only your mother knows what it means. Intriguing, but you'll have to deal with that later. Now, you open it, revealing a large room, with two floors of various bookshelves, some magic lamps illuminating the local.
With that, you start to search, and after a good hour, you have 3 enormous books in the table.

>Read ''Nova Mundis Bestiari; Volume 23: Children of the Night.''
>Read ''Book of the Dark Spawn.''

You open the Book of the Dark Spawn, a large book with a leather cape, the letters in it carved with a knife, giving it a demonic appearance. The book tells about demons and devils, and hell in general. Basically, hell is like a hive, the minor demons having a weak mind are controlled by the bigger ones, that are controlled by even bigger ones, like a hivemind inside another hivemind. You read just an insignificant amount of information in general, but in the entries of the smallest ones, you find what you're looking for: Goblins. They're not demons, or devils, but just the spawn of their influence in the world. They are born in dark places, where real demons roam, and multiply like rabbits, becoming some sort of portal to the real terror of hell when in enough numbers. Well, that's strange. As it seems, they were there because some other demonic presence was in the house, and they were going to be the door to your world for its manifestation.
Before you can think more about it, your mother's voice sound behind you. ''What you're reading?'' Cold as usual, but there's some other thing... Huh, maybe she's the devil all along.

''It's a book about demons. Some goblin broke in the house yesterday, almost killed my fiancee. I though that i could know some more... Why?'' You look at her, but instead of coldness and hatred, you see... Guilt... She slowly makes her way to you and sit at your side, trying her best to smile...
''You know, sorry about early, and... Your whole life... I was the worst, wasn't I? It's just... You look so much like me, but your way... It makes me remember your father... I miss him so much...'' She cries a little, and then smile. ''Just know that, besides everything, I love you, okay?''
Now. That's a shocker. You don't even know how to reply, you just stands there while she hugs you to death.

>Go for the hug.
>Don't hug.
>Push her away.
Also, what to say?
>''I forgive you, my mother.''
>''I think it's a little late... But I'll accept it..''
>''No, sorry, I can't, what it's done it's done.''

>Stay silent.

After she's done, ask if it's a ploy of some kind.

>Watch for a backstab

Obviously she's hiding something; better not let her think we know.

You hug her, a little happy, while she continues to tear in your arms... ''I'll forgive you, my mother...'' And then you are silent, to hear her crying...
''You're so much like your father, i though that maybe you would follow up to him, and that I could end up losing you... You must think it's a joke, right? But I mean it, Joanne... I'm proud to be your mother, okay...?'' She smiles, then looks at you with a pleading smile.
''O-okay, mother...'' You say, looking to the side. It's strange to see that strong and cold woman who despised you your whole life.
''So, promise me. Promise me you'll be a good girl, so that I don't get worried with you anymore. I just... Can't even think about losing you...'' She looks down...
Wow. Now that's a surprise. Even her ulterior motives are caring. That's really a thing.

>''Yes, I promise.''
>''Err.... Yeah, I'll try...''
>''I can't promise anything, sorry...''
>Write-in.

Definitely a ploy to throw us off. This probably won't get her off of our backs, but it won't get her too suspicious.

''Yes, mother, I promise.'' You say, smiling. Still, that's strange. Why would your mother show up and want forgiveness for all her vileness against you just so you wouldn't... Do anything reckless?! There's absolutely something more, so maybe.... Maybe you can discover, some day...
''It's good, and now...'' She closes the book, and stand, bringing you with her. ''I want you to tell me everything about the lil' Ambrosius!!''' She giggles a little, and you can't help but be dragged by your mother to the garden, while you can see your brother laughing a little entering the library together...
The afternoon spent with your mother, and you two have a calm and good conversation, and when she's not scolding and glaring at you, you discover she's actually a nice person!
The night comes, and you goes to your room, but a hour or two goes by, and you can't sleep, not yet. Slowly, you creep back to the library, and when you go near, you start to hear some voices...

"These things, she said??" Alexander says, sounding surprised.
"Wow, it's bad... But why??" Says Laws, and you can tell by his tone that he is scared.
"Don't know, it's something we can't clearly grasp... Your father was the right man for the job... But this lead to his downfall..." Your mother finally says, in her cold tone again. "If your sister don't do anything bad, marries that boy, and accepts a simple life, we can try to keep her out of this thing. It's for the best." It's the last thing you hear Gillian Nyctoeth, your mother, saying before you run to the arms of cold and confuse sleep....

End of #4.
