Wind: Wind elementals are known to reside in deserts, also sand storms

Fire: Elementals of the fiery kind are also known to reside within deserts, and combat affinity

Earth: We're in a desert so yeah

Celestial/Demon: Could be good don't know wha system and or religion this is based off of

Devil: Likely incredibly powerful with SEVER drawbacks such as debts and other bad things

The technology that comes with these things is known to some degree. As you stumble around in the encampment you come across a map with routes along them. They are marked with two different things. The red is marked elves and it passes a few dozen miles north then the other is marked as friends and that route is in the west. Your choices are before you. Hunt learn, scout, build, research, or other. Your shamans magics are potent earth magics and he is ready to choose an apprentice.

You are in the midst of sturdy stone structures. No visible signs of masonry involved almost as if built by magic. Outside of that there is desert as far as the eye can see. A child really who is shaping dirt into castles. He declares this child his apprentice as it breathes on the castles and they shape into solid stone. As his first task the child is pulled forth and the shaman teaches him how to coerce earth into form. Soon him and the apprentice are working on forming walls of earth to protect the village from fell storms.

As for the scope, the shaman can create castles. Shake the earth for miles. His raw power is mighty indeed from the generations your people had spent so near to the earth plane and a scion of it. However, his finer control is not as good.

As you send out a small party of warriors to scout you go about your lives. Your food stores are holding well you sent the party with a single days rations. As they go out they travel fast and hard to the trade route marking several oasis and areas of tracks for animal routes. Most notably a large rock formation. (Think pride rock from the lion king) As they travel along the trade route they are ambushed arrows peppering them in an attempt to get them to run away. Instead they stand and fight barely spotting the elves as they rush in and out of dunes blending well due to camouflage. the party kills 3 claiming their corpses as trophies as they return to the tribe with their findings.

Your next day is spent researching slings but you hit an impass. You have no leather to shape into the sling cradle. So your shaman attempts to make a cradle from the earth and manages to make a few but the apprentice or more successful and now you have enough slings for the warriors to hunt with. However you are unsure of how long they will last.

If we've got food we likely either have skins or plant material, I say depending on which make proper slings, and if both make a bowstring and make bows (afterall we killed three elves with bows)
