Tanis guides us through the caverns. Now that she mentiones it, we can see sidewalks here and there, albeit her race slithers rather than walk, so they are smooth in a odd way since countless salamanders have moved this way before.

The cavern where her village's abandoned homes rest, is now flooded with lava, but a few rooftops can still be seen here and there.

Of course, down here, the most common building material is lava rock and the leather of fire immune creatures, so a few structures surviving shouldnt be surprising.

Tanis seems quite saddened to see the village flooded, of course.

"This is odd, there was not even a river of lava flowing nearby." -she says
"Maybe a lava wurm passed by and broke a wall somewhere" -offers Lyann
"Nyaaahh" -yawns Zoe softly as she looks around to the roof of the cave
"I guess that is possible... I wonder if there is a way to plug that hole?" -Elcrid looks around, trying to spot where the lava is coming from

"I hope it is coming in from somewhere we can see. If it is coming from below, we can't reach it" -says Aritsu

"Let's take a look around"

We lead the group around the flooded cavern, looking for a obviously collapsed wall or any movement on the lava that may suggest the origin of it.

"By the way, underground, it is called magma, not lava" -says Fahima
"Why?" -asks Stella
"It just is, I guess?"

After a few minutes, we spot some movement under the lava's surface, but it looks more like something large moving under the lava than a natural flow. It doesn't bothers us, however, so we keep moving

Then, we notice a flow on the la- magma under us. It seems to be flowing in constantly from right under us. There might be a hole in the wall or a spring from where it is coming in. Well, it also means that it must be going out somewhere, or the cavern would have already been completely flooded.

This is going to be a extra large spell
Let's try and close it in one go.

So, Eldric calls a stone wall to close the hole, quickly reinforcing it with several more, and then expanding them into the lava flow to make a good plug that will become tigheter with the magma's natural pressure instead of falling apart.

It takes about as much mana as 7 regular castings of the spell-

Well, its not as if it is a problem for us, but it really was a big hole.

"That should do it, right?" -asks Eldric while Fahima looks amazed
"Well, the level of magma will go down on its own now, but the town will remain somewhat flooded. Hopefully people can come back to live on it soon" -says Aritsu

As we are looking at the magma level, we can confirm that it is ever so slowly going down now.

Then, a lava wurm (shouldnt they be called magma wurms?) comes up from the magma pool and opens the hole again with a single bite.

Attached to it, there's dozens of baby wurms.
So it had turned the salamander's village into its nest.

Well, it has no eyes, so its hard to know if it is looking at us.
It sure was scary to see such a huge thing take a bite off the wall!

"I'm not sleepy anymore" -says Zoe
"There, there" -Lyann gently pets the liongirl

"Brother, let's jump it!" -says Stella
"Idiot" -Eldric grabs the collar of her clothes to hold her back- "What would you do if it dives under the magma again?"
"I'm not an idiot!" -she whines as she lowers her ears- "I'm quite tough, i'll be alright"
"No it won't. Your clothes aren't fireproof you know?"

What should we do...

Once the tramblors from the lava wurm's slam subsude, our group moves around again, looking for the exit of the magma.

Thankfully, it is not hard to find. A (relatively) small opening on the walls leads to a huge cavern, and the magma is falling down slowly, making a cascade of liquid, burning rock that disappears into the depths.

"Alright, this shouldn't be too hard...." -says Eldric as he pulls his sleeves up again
"Presid- " -Aritsu starts, but then corrects herself- "Eldric, won't the wurm come plug it up?" -she asks
"It's a wurm, I doubt it's that smart. But if it comes, wouldnt it be nice if it rammed the hole and just fell down?"
"You are correct, of course"

So, Eldric uses magic attacks to sculpt a larger hole on the wall, expanding the width of the magma cascade. We can see the magma level going down slowly but safely

In the distant end of the cavern, the wurm is inspecting the entrance again.

"Alright, this should do it." -says Lyann
"Can we fight it when the magma is gone?" -asks Stella
"Why do you want to fight it?"
"I bet its yummy!" -she says with a shiny smile

Its a great skill vs undead since it prevents resurrections. It also helps against groups of enemies with ress abilities. The bad part is that it doesn't lets a drop behind... well that's how i envisioned it, but I think it would be funny if she gets told to cough up the loot and she does so, literally.

Well, she's all grown up and is a splendid beauty even now, but you know what I meant.

If only a certain wolfgirl could be 1/2 as feminine, we would worry a lot less.... no, no, we shouldn't think that way. They are both our wonderful little sisters, and they both have different charm points, thats all.

Zoe is the elegant and girly type, while Stella is the brown skinned, athletic tomboy type, that's all.

And so, we go back to the entrance cave, where a large red and blue squares blanket is spread for everyone to sit on.

We have a lioght lunch of soft, spongy sandwiches and fruit juice while enjoying the sight.

We have this many beautiful girls with us, while in the distance, the lava wurm roars majestically as the magma goes down. Isn't it quite a sight?

And so, we spend the time quite pleasantly until the magma is almost gone. There is still a thin river of flowing magma, but the rest of it has cooled down.

The salamander's homes are flooded to up to about 5 inches tall/deep into the cooled magma, but it looks like they will be usable again.

Well, they were made from rock and fireproof leathers to begin with.

The wurm is squirming about on the floor.

The Lava Wurm is huge. Looking at it up close, it feels as if we were looking at a squirming building.

A long time ago, we fought a giant tree. This is vaguely reminiscing of that... well, the tree was bigger, but this thing is at the sae time, much tougher, and flexible.

What happens if it just squishes us? in this world, we've never just been squished.

I mean, if I was a super giant monster, I wouldnt bother attacking adventurers, you know? I would just roll over them and call it a day.

Will our HP be enough to deal with squishy damage? that sounds weird on its own, doesn't it?

"Alright, here goes nothing!" -and thus we charged it together, leaving Fahima behind to cast spells

To be honest, Fahima is barely a level 20 wizard, so she would certainly get 1-shot by this thing, but surely, the exp from it should help her a LOT

Leaving the underground, we head straight to the public baths to rent a private bath.

The owner gives us a look, and charges us more than usual for a room... well, it can't be helped. We are quite sticky and covered in wurm drool, so we just quietly pay the fee.

The bath is quite large, all things considered.

Fahima is fine since she stayed far back during the fight. We send her back to our menagerie, and thank her for her help.

"Yes!" -Stella happily takes off her dress and armor as she runs towards the pool's edge

Once we were refreshed from the bath, we got dressed and headed out to find Fahima's tribe.

They were certainly happy about the news.
They can go back home, AND the magma flooding their village has been taken care of.

Well, they didnt even knew about thag last bit, but they were more than happy to hear about it being solved, too.

As thanks, they give us a fist-sized Ruby called [Salamander's Heart]. It is a [Legendary] class of crafting item.
