((Right let's try this again.))

"Attention unknown mechs, this is the Foeskodal Armed Forces, you are tresspassing on sovereign territory. Power down your machines and surrender immediately or we will use force. This is your only warning."

You are Sergei Boystov, rogue mech pilot and current owner of the experimental super mech: RB-001 Cognis. Right now you are in an abandoned factory locked in combat with what you are assuming is somekind of black ops team while a border patrol from the Foeskodal Army is bearing down on you.

The bad news is that the Cognis took a lot of damage in the previous fight. The less bad news is: the enemy of my enemy is also my enemy, however they are also my enemy's enemy... or something. Point being that the border patrol's presence could be turned to your advantage...

You glimpse an opening between the armatures the Squire is hiding behind and open fire with the laser. You score a solid hit, buring through the remaining armour into it's subsystems. The Squire shudders as your attacks set off multiple internal explosions before falling to the ground, a smouldering wreck.

You're surpirsed when the enemy lock siren stops beeping for the first time since you started this engagement. Behind you Anya grins.

"Finally got into to his FCS and cancelled the lock. He's going to have a hell of a time trying to target us now."

The Errant doesn't even bother to attack you, instead maneuvering behind some assembly armatures, trying to put some cover between the two of you. Behind you the Foeskodal army units have begun to converge on your position.

Glancing at the sensor scope you realise that if you stay where you are you'll be caught between the two incoming forces. Since the Errant seems to be cutting you some slack you turn the Cognis round and run behind a pillar. This should grant you some respite.

"Anya can you use the ECM to encourage them to fight each other?"

Anya frowns for a moment.
"It doesn't quite work like that... I'll see what I can do." She fiddles with the console a bit before sighing. "Nothing for now, their counter measures have gotten the better of me."

The Errant continues strafing around the armatures, looking for an opening. Meanwhile the Foeskodal Units get ever closer. The top three units are moving in the Errant's general direction but the bottom most AFV is clearly heading right for you.

You hold your position and keep your finger on the trigger, ready to fry anything that comes round the corner.

(Resolving Enemy Phase Standby)

Several things happen at once. The Errant, whose still seems to be trying to get a bead on you comes under fire from the Cobra and AFV. The attack is largely ineffective though, much of it being absorbed by cover. The Errant jerks it's torso round and fires a snap-shot that takes out the AFV.

The Crocodile moves in but doesn't commit to an attack yet, almost as if it's waiting for an opportunity.

Meanwhile the bottom AFV rounds the corner and you scorch it with the laser. You didn't quite get a solid hit though and you watch in horror as it's blackened turret swings up to fire at the Cognis... only for it to be riddled with gunfire from your chin mounted HMGs. Behind you Anya sighs in relief.

"I couldn't get a lock so I decided to use my judgment."

"Good Judgment."

"Thanks, to be honest the computers don't seem to be agreeing with me. I'd much rather use the guns."

You decide to let them come to you again, lets see if the Croc was stupid enough to follow his friend.

(Resolving Enemy Phase Standby)

He wasn't... in fact... Oh shit!

You wrench the controls to the side and swing the Cognis round in a 180 degree pivot just as Croc round the corner behind you. The space between you erupts in a storm of weapons fire as both of you open up on each other simultaneously. You score a glancing hit with the laser. Anya tries and fails to hack before throwing up her arms and getting on the HMG. The Croc blasts chunks off your armour with some kind of twin-linked snubnosed auto-cannon. By the end of it both of you are badly damaged but not out of the fight yet.

Up top the Cobra and Errant are engaged in a full on sniper duel. The Cobra lands a solid hit on the Errant but much of the damage is mitigated by the shield and surrounding cover. The Errant returns fire but misses.

Anya takes control of the laser as you charge. She barely hits the target, but then again, she doesn't really need to. The Cognis technically doesn't have melee weapons, but it does have a big pair of armour shod feet. Your charge takes the Croc off guard. A kick to the knee joint topples the mech and a stomp on the torso finishes the job. He won't be getting back up.

(Resolving Enemy Phase Standby)

The Errant and the Cobra continue to duke it out. This time neither side seem to be gaining an advantage.

You receive a transmission from Lev.

"Hey Sergei, maybe now would be a good time to get out of here since they seem distracted and all..."

You decide that Lev has a point.

"Yeah, let's leave them to their slap fight..."

You cautiously maneuver around the edges of the fight before sprinting out the rear exit. Lev follows your lead, driving the truck behind you as fast as he can. If either of the two mechs in the factory noticed you (which they probably did) none could do anything about it without giving the other a potentially fatal opening.

Before long they drop off the scope entirely...

((And that's all for this session.))

RANK UP! Anya's has enough combat experience to not suck anymore. (She no longer suffers negative modifiers to her rolls.)
RANK UP! Lev has enough experience to perform basic repairs on the Cognis without your supervision.

((Stay tuned for the post game Q&A. I actually have something for you guys this time.))

Okay two things...

First off I've noticed that even though I got lots of interest in the first few threads I've had trouble drumming up players.

Is it because of my timezone? I'm on GMT time so I can't really catch the American prime time without wrecking my sleep patterns, so is that the problem here or is my quest just not interesting?

Secondly check out this little fluff sheet I put together. It gives details on some of the mechs you've encountered thus far. It's got pretty pictures as well. If you like it I'll make more and show em to you guys at the end of each session.
>>
>>41079276
Timezone is the big thing yeah, also the longer the quest runs more people you'll pick up. Setting is good, I like giant stompy mechs.
>>
>>41079276
>Is it because of my timezone? I'm on GMT time so I can't really catch the American prime time without wrecking my sleep patterns, so is that the problem here or is my quest just not interesting?
Nah, most likely it's luck of the draw, you'll have to wait a few more threads for your quest take off for real.
Also, there's a truckload of new quests now vying for a spot in the sun, try to run at a time the heavy hitters arent on/are about to start to generate hype.
I remember when some quests had to compete against Totemist/AEQ/Shadowquest and Banished running either at the same time or one after the other.
>>
>>41079242
Thanks for playing. It's certainly possible. You'll either have to take him on missions with you or drill him during downtime. Other options for improvement may present themselves later on though...

>>41079269
As it stands it'll be 45 for the foreseeable future. You may be able to sort of get more armour by acquiring damage mitigating equipment but the base armour is unlikely to increase.

>>41079308
I'll see about running later then, but I don't really want to be staying up past midnight in my locale.

Alternatively I could run in the morning which is like the wee hours for Americans I don't know how often fa/tg/uys like to stay up late.

>>41079416
I suppose... as I new QM I put a lot of preparation into this but I guess I failed to account for the existing quests. TBH I was hoping I could avoid direct competition and fill a niche since there doesn't seem to be much in the way of mecha quests going on right now.
