Your name is Takashi Wakui. You are a sixteen-year old, Japanese high school student living in a world where half the population possesses Personas—manifestations of inner souls as demons, spirits or deities. In the past, you had been one of the unlucky ordinaries lacking a Persona. Then a game called AETHER was forcibly installed on your smartphone.

You thought it was little more than a piece of nasty spyware, but it turns out that the consequences of playing it are significantly more far-reaching than thought to be. You were transported to a realm called the Blackened Void, where you fought monsters and gained your first Persona--Ippon-Datara of the Fool Arcana, the degraded blacksmith demon god.

Now you are the Wild Card of the 22nd Century, capable of wielding Personas of each Major Arcana. To matters worse, you and several others have been cursed as AETHER’s chosen players. For what purpose does the game exist, and how is victory achieved?

[7:15, 4-Apr-2129]

Mornings in Akumachi City are always lively. The omnipresent blanket of hazy noise is unfolded when the little hand strikes six. Haunting refrains and energetic tunes pound through the cityscape as elderly residents commence their morning exercises. Footsteps smash against greyed concrete paths as the early rush snowballs into existence. Electrical motors spark to life and roar down the streets, dragging their lethargic passengers down jam-packed roads to the workforce. Lines fill up in convenience stores, simulated coffee is purchased and the vendors rake in the Macca with glee.

All the way in your little bedroom, your phone’s alarm clock squawks. You let out a gurgling, dry groan from deep within your throat and slam it quiet. A few moments pass in which you stare at the ceiling, blinking dumbly. The morning ritual starts. Throw the covers off yourself and rise up. You head to the bathroom. Take a piss, brush your teeth with minty white toothpaste, wash your face and comb your hair. A yawn threatens to snake its way past your tongue. You don’t bother stopping it.

“Ahhhh….”

Rubbing muck out of your eyes, you return your room, still dressed in just a T-shirt and a pair of boxers. The carpeted floor is strewn with pieces of clothing, par for the course. You bend down to pick up a pair of camo-patterned trousers and pause halfway through.

“Right, that’s what’s happening…” you mumble, “Man…”

You almost forgot. In some respects, you wish you had.

Relaxation is over. Remember that your holidays will end.

Today is the first day of the new school year. You will be attending the famed and Persona-user exclusive Akumachi-Kirijo Academy for the Supernaturally Talented, on behest on your mother’s commands. Her reasons for doing so were still a little unclear. In the midst of AETHER shenanigans, trekking around an abandoned city fighting Shadows and preventing your auburn-haired neighbor from being lit aflame, the thought had nearly slipped your mind.

Might as well get this over and done with, then?

You open your closet and take out the Akumachi-Kirijo uniform. Black blazer with navy blue highlights and the school crest, dark gray pants, white shirt and a black tie. The clothes had arrived last afternoon along with the hard-copy versions of your textbooks and a bunch of other assorted academy utilities.

Exit. Your nose twitches at the smell of freshly cooked white rice. You follow the scent all the way down to the kitchen. Shizuka is there, humming as she arranges dual sets of chopsticks and bowls.

“Morning, nee-san.” You greet.

The moment your older sister catches an eyeful of you, her expression undergoes a drastic change.

“Good morning Takashi…” she pauses, looking you up and down, “Is that your new uniform?”

“Uh, yeah?”

“You look so handsome!” Shizuka cooes, a massive, dreamy smile growing on her sleepy face. She immediately scrambles around the kitchen, hands grasping everywhere. “Hold still, Takashi! I need to take a picture of you. Oh, where’s my phone…”

You grumble as your eyes do a complete three-sixty in their sockets. The urge to slam your palm against your face is maddening. “Damn it, nee-san. Not this moment…”

“But I can’t resist!” You resist the urge as Shizuka switches on the camera app and begins snapping photos with a speed normally reserved for depraved paparazzi on subway trains. “Come now, don’t be shy! What would kaa-san say if she were here…”

You look down at yourself. This uniform…what do you think of these new clothes?

It’s alright, you guess.

You old school uniform was better by simple virtual of being more casual and comfortable to wear. At least it didn’t demand you to a wear a tie. Sadly, those articles of clothing would be doomed to a fate of being shoved in the storage closet, never to see the light of day. Or sent down to the recycled clothes store, whatever.

Shizuka is now giggling at the screen of her phone.

“I’m sending this to my friends!” she exclaims. “There’s no way I’m missing the chance to show off my cute little brother.”

“No, nee-san. Just…no.” you groan.

You try to snatch the phone away from her, but Shizuka’s raw Strength proves too much for you to handle. Mail sent, it’s there on the Internet forever. Apart from this little incident, the rest of the morning proceeds as usual. Although, you have to make sure not to get miso soup on your new shirt.

“I’m heading off, nee-san.” You call.

“Okay, have fun at your new school! You know where it is?”

“I’m not that dumb. Get some rest.”

You sling your backpack full of the necessary books onto your back and leave your apartment. You walk towards the elevator and jam the down button. When it arrives, you see someone familiar.

“Good morning, Takashi-kun!” Celeste, your neighbor—no, your friend, smiles. God, thinking like that still feels alien. When was the last time you experienced companionship outside your family?

“Morning, Celeste.” You reply and get in.

Celeste is dressed in the girl’s uniform, which is almost exactly like yours. The only difference is that she is wearing a black skirt and long white socks as opposed to dark grey trousers. The bag she is carrying looks just as heavy, mind you.

“So…” Celeste trails off. The elevator rushes downwards. You are currently squeezed in the middle of the crowd inside.

“What?” You ask.

“It’s the beginning of the new school year. Are you excited at all?”

>>Hell yeah, definitely looking forward to it.

“Someone’s pretty enthusiastic.” Celeste says. “Um, will you be okay though? You’ve only had Persona for a few days. Most kids like me have had years of experience.”

“It’ll be fine?” You attempt to rationalize, somewhat weakly. Sure, it didn’t matter that the other students were so much more accustomed to wielding their Personas, or the fact that they were probably more academically, physically or socially gifted than you…

A heavy block of metaphorical lead drops onto your shoulders. You grasp the sides your head with your hands.

“Takashi-kun?”

Oh my bloody god this is going to be awful.

“Shush. I think I might be undergoing an academic crisis.”

“…that doesn’t make sense, Takashi-kun.”

Still, those guys didn’t spend the last portion of your break running around an alternate dimension fighting Shadows, so that had to count for something, right? And your mother believed you had the aptitude to survive in Akumachi-Kirijo. She was never the type to pick you up and hurl you into the deep end, if there wasn’t at least a tiny chance of success of scrambling out.

On second thoughts, you’ll stick your original line of thinking.

“My new school life is going to suck.” You moan.

“Cheer up, Takashi-kun.” Celeste grin, patting you on the back. “At least you’ve got a Persona. A lot of people aren’t as lucky as you.”

“I wouldn’t exactly call this lucky or fortunate.” You mutter. Not after remembering how you received Ippon-Datara. Still, Celeste had a point. You weren’t exactly ungrateful to be elevated from an ordinary.

“Besides, you’re not alone. I’m your friend, remember? I’m there for you. If there’s anything you don’t understand about Personas, you can come ask me!”

“Thanks, I guess.” You reply. “What about you?”

“Pardon?”

“Are you feeling okay? After…what happened back there.” You take out your phone and point to it. Celeste, seemingly getting the hint, nods.

My body is still a bit sore, apart from that I’m in tip-top shape. I’ve got a full tank of mana right now.” Celeste replies, still keeping up that radiant, optimistic expression of hers. “Gosh, I didn’t realize you’d care so much. Hahaha!”

“Yeah yeah, laugh it up…” Nevertheless, you can’t help but feel relieved that Celeste is doing okay. She didn’t come out for the entirety of yesterday. Most likely snoring away in her room. And who wouldn’t, after all the bullshit the Hazebound Woodlands put her through?

The lift reaches the destination and everyone stumbles out. You and Celeste walk out into the sunlight. It’s other clear and sunny day. A new age is about to arrive. The life of a student will resume and you will be cast into a maelstrom of textbooks, club activities, competitions, brutal exams and sub-standard cafeteria food. Are you prepared? The answer doesn’t matter. You’ll just have to take life one step at a time and see what lies in your path.

What will you do?

>>Examine today’s schedule.

As you walk towards the underground railroad, you access a specific file on your phone. It’s a table representation of all the classes you have for the rest today. All students are Akumachi-Kirijo are expected to study nine subjects a year. The subjects English, Japanese, Mythology, Physical Education, Mathematics, Persona Manipulation, and History are mandatory for everyone. The other two are filled up by electives of your choosing.

Wow, those are some neat electives you’ve got there. It took you a while to pick them, but you think they’re satisfactory. You should be able to complete the classes without a major failure. They’re basically the same type of stuff you studied in school.

“Hey, the train is here. Let’s get on before all the good seats are taken!”

Unfortunately, Celeste is about to be disappointed. All seats on the bullet trains are immediately filled up by nervous students, sweating businessmen, exhausted labourers and the like. The two of you are forced to grip on metal bars and stand like rigid trees. Ah, such is life in Akumachi-City, the newest ward of the Imperial Empire of Japan…

District 2 soon arrives thanks to the wonders of modern technology. From there, it is a short push through the hustle and bustle to Akumachi-Kirijo.

You now stand at the wrought steel school gates. This is a serious and incredible turning point in your young life. Every person in this academy is a Persona-user. The courtyard is already full of the clamor and hubbub of its pupils. A sea of black and navy blue surges forward. The essence of competition and pursuit for glory is already emanating from the minds of the brightest and the best. It is a dog eat dog world out here, and already some kids are gazing at each other with tension and anticipation. No doubt the idea of climbing straight to the top is on their minds.

…you have a feeling it’s going one hell of a year.

You step forward. Nobody gives you or Celeste a second glance. You and her are both unknowns, invisible to the various cliques and groups already existing. On the way to the front entrance, you catch snippets of conversation...

“Eriko-sama! Wait for me, this year I’ll definitely catch up to you!”

“Clubs start in the first week? Damn it, now I have to stay back after class tomorrow…”

“How was your break? My mother forced me to take extra classes…worth it, though.”

“Please don’t let me have Third Reich-sensei. Not her again….”

Celeste surveys the masses of people and looks at you. “Tough crowd.” She remarks.

“What gave that away? The fact that practically everybody is sizing each other up?”

“That, and the talk about school-mandated dueling.”

“Excuse me?”

In the front entrance is a holographic billboard, listing the homeroom each student belongs to. The front of is swamped with students of all sizes and ages, despite the information being freely available on the Internet. You peer closely.

The student body of Akumachi-Kirijo is split up into six houses. Each one has a staff leader, a student representative and an animal mascot. From what you read online, the houses frequently compete in academic competitions, athletic events, exam results and the like. The house that receives the most points at the end of the year receives a special prize…

You survey the holographic board to double-check. Which house are you in?

That is your house. Its color is orange-gold. You scan the list for Celeste’s name. She is in house CALIBAN, it seems…

“Hey, Takashi-kun. What class are you in? I’m in 5-2.”

“5-3.” You reply. Hang on, what’s with the number discrepancy? Does that mean…

“Oh. Looks like we’re not in the same class after all.” Celeste exclaims.

Shit. You curse the word, normally applied to fecal waste, inside your head.

“And we’re not in the same house, either.” Celeste continues.

“That sucks.” You frown.

“Seems like you’ll have to do without me!” Celeste grins cheekily, removing the omnipresent lollipop from inside her mouth and sticking her tongue out. “You must be mortified, Takashi-kun. Are you quaking in your boots?”

You roll your eyes for the second time that day. “Whatever, Tachibana-san. Say, don’t they prevent students from wearing headphones during school hours?”

At the mention of this, Celeste’s mood plummets and she droops downwards. She takes off the device in the same fashion a prisoner on death row would greet his last meal. “Why did you have to remind me of that…”

You pat her on the back and after thinking about it for a moment, smirk. “I’m sure you’ll live.”

“This isn’t funny, Takashi-kun.” Celeste whines, shoving her precious equipment into her bag. Her ears are on full display for the school to see. Somewhere, in some period of time, this could constitute as an act of utter lewdness. “I’d completely forgotten about it until you reminded me.”

“Hey, maybe this way a teacher won’t confiscate it. You should be thankful I reminded you.”

“True…”
>>
Soon, it will be time for the morning assembly. One of items you received in the mail yesterday was the numeric key for your locker. You find it, punch in the numbers and shove your bag in the small compartment within. Then you seal it shut and dash towards the auditorium hall located further back in the school.

You first impressions is that the auditorium is big. Of course it has to be. There are over eight hundred students in Akumachi-Kirijo and almost all of them are seated here. The noise is reminiscent of a particularly verbose flock of sheep. The teaching staff are milling around, trying to get everyone to be seated correctly. You find yours and sit down next to some bloke you’ve never met. Celeste isn’t with you, for once. All the seating arrangements are sorted by house.

“May I have your attention please?”

The booming voice of the school principal cuts through the hubbub like a katana slicing through thin flesh. Silence.

“The first school assembly of the new year shall commence. Welcome back, ladies and gentlemen, old and young, to Akumachi-Kirijo…”

The morning address begins. The next ten minutes are spent listening to the principal prattle on about honor, duty, expectations and a whole bunch of other buzzwords. Does this any of this matter? Maybe if you were more intelligent, you’d get some more mileage out of this.

“… and now, a world from this year’s student council president from classroom 6-1, Eriko Ozaki!”

A girl with long black hair and a red armband on her uniform steps up to the podium. She taps the microphone twice and smiles. You notice that half the student body, who were looking bored before, are suddenly sitting up straighter.

“Good morning, everyone.” The student council president speaks, in a confident and refined voice. It reminds you of soft velvet. Everyone claps.

>>Listen to the student council president’s speech.

“Time flies, doesn’t it? It feels like yesterday I was gazing up at this building as a elementary school student, wondering if I would fit in in such an intimidating and renowned academic environment.” The girl named Eriko Ozaki states. Her outward appearance is plain, almost ordinary and forgettable. If you met on the street, you wouldn’t give her more than a second glance. No makeup, no oddly-colored hair or any sort of extravagance. Yet, her passionate, charismatic words and refined behavior carried a powerful authority behind them that made her peers listen in awe, no matter how rebellious they were. This was one of the major power players of Akumachi-Kirijo, and you are beginning to understand this.

“I am grateful and excited to have been selected as the Student Council President for this year. As I begin my duties of guiding and representing you all, I would like to share my vision for this year. A wise woman once said that all students are responsible for improving and bettering their schools. However, she also said that change cannot occur without a serious level of commitment. It is a statement that I agree fully. In order for us to strive for the highest we can achieve, we must first restructure our daily lives in order to accommodate that goal. Search your minds and souls to find your motivation and imagine a bright new future without losing the sight of the realities around you. I have no doubt that a great number of you will be capable of doing so, and will utilize this year to best of your potential. Study, fight, create, participate and move forth with all your might and enthusiasm. Do the best you can and live without regrets. That, I believe, is the key to success in Akumachi-Kirijo. Thank you.”

The resulting applause is deafening. You can’t help but join in, albeit somewhat half-heartedly. You definitely learned something important today.

Eriko Ozaki then pauses, then raises a finger with a smile. She is not done yet.

“Oh, and one last thing.” She says. “I’m not accepting any challenges as of yet. You’ll have to defeat the other members of the student council first. Sorry boys!”

Raucous laughter fills the auditorium. The teachers are chuckling heartily.

“Come on, Eriko! Judgement Day has arrived already!” a deep-voiecd male roars.

“Implying that you could come anywhere near to Eriko-sama’s Hachiman!” a girl laughs.

The morning assembly soon ends after that. It has taken up the first class of the day. The second class, homeroom, will begin soon. You have five or so minutes before it begins. What will you do?

Pretty good idea, actually. Maybe we can swing by a school store and pick some stuff up for it.

Failing that, we can always scrawl bathroom graffiti.

It probably won't even matter if the poster gets taken down. It'll be strange enough that some students will inevitably bring it up, and it can survive as a quirky story spoken around the school.

Hell, turn it into a game. When one poster gets taken down, put another one up in an unusual place. Make people track down the posters for fun.

... watch as this somehow makes the endgame much harder for us by spreading knowledge of AETHER throughout the school.

>>Go to the toilet, something might happen there.

You’re kinda busting at the moment. Bathroom time. You duck and weave between the eager mass of students, some of which are already devising potential ways to defeat the student council president’s Persona, and follow the sign displayed with the blue and pink man and woman.

You unzip your fly and take a slash. Damn, this place is shiny. There’s barely a smidge of grime anywhere, discounting the floors at least. Nothing out of the ordinary occurs. Well, there is a sign displayed above the toilets, reminding that all students need to ‘show proper bathroom etiquette and respect the god of toilets’. This means scrubbing with soap and not throwing rolls of toilet paper around.

Huh?

Shit is getting too unreal. Whatever. You’ll wash your hands and be done with it. That’s what you think, until your phone starts buzzing.

It’s AETHER. A new option has appeared on the menu.

>>PRIVATE MESSAGES

Apparently you can now sent text messages to all those with the program. They take the form of IRC logs. Even after over a century since their invention, text-based web chatting hasn’t gone out of date.

>>Go to homeroom.

You slip in just as the bell rings. A seat is empty in the middle of the room. You take it, next to a spiky-haired dude sitting next to an open window. Have you seen him before? Chances of this becoming important in the coming days are close to zero.

“Hello, class.” Veleis-sensei, the former AEGIS III anti-Shadow android unit walks in. “Oh my, I am seeing a lot of familiar faces today. Welcome to class 5-3. I am Veleis Watnabe, but you may call me Veleis-sensei. I will be your homeroom teacher for the rest of the year.”

Her words are carefully enunciated and her tone is flat, as expected of an autonomous AI. “I hope that we all have a productive and invigorating study year together. Now, let me call the roll. Number 1…”

Veleis-sensei fires off a list of names like a relaxed drill sergeant. Everybody else is used to her apparently and respond without much fuss. Halfway through the list, the door slides open.

“Is this class 5-3?” A young, brown-haired and shabbily-dressed male walks in. “Ah, it is. Great! Sorry for interrupting, kids.”

Veleis-sensei pauses and stares at the newcomer. “What are you doing here?”

The man holds up a carefully wrapped bento box. “Why, I brought you lunch, darling. You forgot it again.”

Veleis-sensei’s eyes widen slightly, like a deer caught in my headlights. She reaches forward and snatches the bento out of the man’s hands. “Done. I won’t forget next time.”

“See, I told you about the fridge magnets. I told you, dear. We bought them for a reason.”

“Could you please leave?” Her cheeks are turning red. The artificial synthetic skin is becoming crimson. “You’re disturbing my class.”

“Forgive me kids, I don’t believe I introduced myself. I’m Sachi Watanable. I teach Computer Programming at this academy.” The man then smiles again. Then he strides forward and pinches the sides of Veleis-sensei’s cheeks. Half the class begins chuckling. “This woman here is my sweet little wife! Isn’t she adorable?”

“Stoppppp…” Veleis-sensei whimpers. A weak spot has been struck, knocking the android teacher off balance for an all-out attack by her husband. It doesn’t help she is as tall as an ordinary middle school girl. “Not now, Sachi…”

“Hahah, I just can’t resist. You are just too beautiful.” Sachi-sensei giggles. “I’ll be off, then. Good luck, my wife!”

“You will be punished for this!” Veleis-sensei shouts, her composure fully broken. She waves a clipboard angrily in his direction. Cobalt aura covers her body. “I swear of it!”

“If you say so!” Sachi-sensei’s laughs echo all the way down the hallway. Veleis-sensei is now so hot with embarrassment you could boil an egg on her metallic body. She glances around at the smirking and bemused class of 5-3 and struggles to say something. It comes out in a small, low squeak.

“Roll will now continue. Commencing…”

It is too late. The atmosphere in the room has grown severely more mirthful and serious. No-one is really paying attention. You state your attendance when the list reaches you and say no more after that.

“Psst.”

A youthful voice catches your attention.

“Yo! Guy next to me!”

The dude with the black spiky hair is waving at you. His blazer has been taken off and wrapped around his seat. There are bandages covering the front of his right hand.

“Don’t think I’ve seen you around here before.” He remarks, winking. “What’s your name, new guy?”

“Hey, a new friendly face.” The spiky-haired dude says. “We don’t get nearly enough of those these days. I’m Takauji Koyoura. Let me the first dude to welcome you to Akumachi-Kirijo.”

He extends his hand. You shake it. It’s strong and firm. Takauji’s grip is tight. This is a palm that has smashed many hard objects in the past.

“It’s hard being the new kid, so I thought I’d introduce myself.” Takauji asks, smiling. “We’re going to be sitting next to each other for the rest of the year too, so we might as well get along.”

“Thanks.” You reply, not exactly sure of where this guy is going.

“So…how’d a guy like you get in Akumachi-Kirijo? Scholarship? Got invited? Random draw? I got the last one. Thought it would be a nightmare, but this place actually turned out to be pretty alright.”

You groan. “Bought my way in.” You mutter. “Wasn’t even my choice.”

“Ouch. I feel you, man.” Takauji says, wincing a little. He gives you a reassuring look. “One of my friends was like that too. His dad dropped him straight into here without warning. But hey, Akumachi-Kirijo isn’t as nasty as the rumors make it out to seem. I mean, it’s hella competitive, but lots of people get used to it quickly.”

“Well…”

“Excuse me.” Veleis-sensei’s voice rings out. “Koyoura. Wakui. Is there something you’d like to share with the rest of the class?”

“No, sensei! Just helping Wakui-san settle in.” Takauji quickly announces. He shoots you a small grin. “Talk to you later, dude. Don’t wanna get in the way of Veleis-sensei.”
>>
Homeroom proceeds. Veleis-sensei talks about hard work, empathy, the lack of tolerance for bullying and numerous clubs. You listen and pore through your diary. Today’s subjects: Maths, English, Mythology and a double period of History. Then the bell rings and it’s time for recess.

Takauji stands up and stretches his arms. He comes over.

“So Wakui-san.” He speaks. “Got any questions about Akumachi-Kirijo?”

“What are you talking about?”

“I’ve been here for three whole years. I know this school inside out.” Takauji flicks his thumb at himself smirks. “You’ve probably confused about some things. Heh, you can ask me, man. I won’t bite like some people!”

>>What’s the deal with student council president?

“Eriko Ozaki?” Takauji remarks. “Oh man, where to begin? She’s always get the highest marks on the exams, all the boys think she’s one of the most beautiful girls around and she’s practically the best Persona-wielder in her year level.”

“So it’s one of those types where the student council president has to be the strongest kid around?” You ask.

“Not necessarily. But Jesus Christ, they couldn’t have picked a better candidate.” Takauji reflects. “Smart, highly attractive, very popular and a Judgement Arcana user as well! Seriously, her level of power is ridiculous. Last year, she took on five third-years by herself and came out without a single scratch. She’s strong enough to fight some of the senior teachers head-on. It’s gonna be a long and tough road if you want to catch up to her, man…”

Judgement Arcana. The second-last card in the tarot deck. Only two hundred recorded individuals in the world were fortunate enough to possess it. Personas of the Judgement Arcana had little to no weaknesses and huge amounts of strengths, thus making them highly desirable by just about all users everywhere.

“It would really suck if Ozaki was a tyrant.” Takauji continues. “Glad she’s not, though. She’s friendly to just about anyone.”

“Then what was up with those guys wanting to challenge her at assembly?”

“Ah, them? They probably want to become the next student council president. You’ll win huge favors among everybody if you can beat Eriko Ozaki in a duel. ”
>>
>>What’s this about dueling?

“They’re basically miniature Persona battles.” Takauji says. “It’s a way for us to settle our differences. If someone really pisses you off, challenge them to a duel and beat the crap out of them! I’ve been in more than a few duels myself, Wakui-san. They’re pretty fun when you win, hehehe…”

“Is that where you got the bandages from?”

“These? Naw, I tried to punch a steel ball and broke my fingers. Guess I ain’t strong enough yet.” Takauji grins, displaying the bandaged implements like a sort of sick trophy. “All duels have to be supervised, y’know. Otherwise they’d be abused to hell and back. Winning duels grants points for your house, so there’s that. You’re only allowed to do a specified amount per month, though.”

…just where the hell has Kaa-san sent you? Marineki High wasn’t this violent! Ugh, you hope no-one comes challenging your way…

>>Meet up with Celeste.

“Sorry mate, I gotta go.” You stand up from your desk. “Need to catch up with someone.”

“A friend of yours?” Takauji asks.

“Something like that, yeah.” You say. “She’s in class 5-2.”

“That’s just outside the corridor.” Takauji replies. He’s right. All the high school students are packed inside Classroom Block A. “One more thing before you go, though.”

You pause. “What?”

“I dunno how good you are with your Persona, Wakui-san.” Takauji says. “But people around these parts are kinda secretive about their Personas. If you know someone’s Persona, you can figure out how to beat them. Only the really strong like the student council president aren’t hesitant about that. Just a word of advice, man.”

“I’ll keep that in mind.” You mutter. You understand where he’s coming from. A Fool like you, an anomaly in this world, has even bigger of a reason to keep his mouth closed and lips sealed. “Later.”
>>
>>41065980
>society where you are secretive about your Persona
>When Fools are treated as Defcon 1s
Dear god why would you do that.
>>
>>41066053
how does it work with the dueling?
>>
You exit. The hallway is crowded. Drink cans slam down from vending machines. Door slam shut as students leave the cramped classrooms. Lockers are opened, posters are surveyed, chatter is voiced. You see Celeste come out of her own classroom. She waves at you and you walk over to her.

“Hey!” She cries. “How’s it going?”

“Could’ve been worse.” You grunt. You notice that while her headphones are absent, the piece of candy in her mouth isn’t. “I got Veleis-sensei for homeroom. Then her spouse walked in and started embarrassing her.”

Celeste laughs. “Seriously?”

“Yeah. He pinched her cheeks and made fun of her. Isn’t that what they call bullying?”

“Did you make any friends?” You ask.

“Yeah, I met a few girls who offered to show me around. What about you?”

“Met this guy called Takauji.” You respond. “He’s okay, I guess. No idea what’s up with his hair, though.”

“Oh? What’s that like?”

You and Celeste make small talk for the rest of the recess. The bell rings, signaling the start of the fourth class. You bid her goodbye and head back to your classroom. What subject is it?

Come to think of it, we're not going to be able to switch Personas publicly without getting dogpiled by half the army.

We probably shouldn't do it on AETHER unless it's in front of people we trust.

Guess we're going to have to work everything out with Ippon-Datara.

I kinda hope not. There's no way will get far with it alone.

We're going to have to persona switch in the AETHER, there's just no ifs and buts about it. She'll put two and two together.

It would be better to be up front about it.

The answer is clear: we must start a New Quest+ when this is over.

maybe we should tell her in the blackened void, so there's no risk of anyone else seeing.

>>
>>41066446
Don't rush it.
It's not like she has to know.
>>
>>41066305
But there's Personas like Alice (who would fall under Literature) and Caesar (who should be obvious). If they wanted to study Personas, they may as well have just called it Persona Studies.

And of course, there's those points where mythology blurs with history - King Arthur and Grace O'Malley, just to name a few.
>>
>>41066446
Have you ever had somebody save your life? Cause its one of the most powerful things I have found. I used to be straight and somebody who is pretty much a standard fa/tg/uy saved me and now I am bisexual.
>>
>>41066457
It's not that hard, I maxxed everything out on my first playthrough by only going into the Tartarus once a week. The key is to get massive amounts of money so you never have to stop leveling up your Persona and can deal with shit whenever it comes up without letting it conflict with your school days.
>>
>>41066546
She does if we want to use other persona in front of her.

This anon has the right of it:
>>41066528
We should tell her the next time we're in the Blackened Void together.
>>
>>41066528
because we werent planning on telling anyone until later?
>>
>>41066528
She's part of the anti-shadow squad, so it'd be part of her duty to report a Wild Card to her superiors, given how damn rare we are. We would be a tool for them to study in their war.

It'd cause her a fair amount of conflict, I'm sure.

Veleis-sensei is taking the class. Akumachi-Kirijo is one of those schools where the entire whole classes study subjects together…most of the time. She strides forward, all previous embarrassment having vanished. She clears her mechanical throat and activates a holographic display on the wall. It displays the hierarchy of angels, complete with descriptions and appearances.

“Let us begin the first Mythology class of the year.” Veleis-sensei announces. “I trust that you all have some experience with the Holy Bible, Greek and Norse Mythology and Japan’s various folk tales and legends. In this year, we will examine Christianity folklore more carefully, as well as introductions to Hinduism, Buddhism, Roman and Greek mythology differences and Gnosticism. Please take out your textbooks…”

You retrieve the big and heavy paper-bound book from your bag. Basic Mythology for High School Academics, Version 3. Apparently you are a rarity, because a lot of your peers are taking out tablets and opening E-books from there. Ever since Personas came into existence, the study of mythology had become exponentially more important. It was obvious why—Personas are based on demons and figures after all. Religious groups still debated on which religion was the ‘true one’. You know what some of these nutjobs preach, and it scares you.

“Our first topic will be studying in detail the lesser known portion of the Holy Bible, the old Testament.” Veleis-sensei drones. “The Christian God is usually believed to be a kind and benevolent figure, loving all his creations. However, the figure portrayed in the Old Testament is different in certain aspects. Pay attention, because this will be on the midterm exams…”

The class groans at the mention of exams. Akumachi-Kirijo is truly harsh on its students.

You sigh as you read the ancient scriptures of the Holy Bible. It’s taking a lot of effort not to fall asleep for sheer boredom…

We can tell her about AETHER. No problem with that. Just leave out the Wild Card stuff so she doesn't feel obligated to inform others about us.

It'd be pretty shitty of us to force her to make that choice, regardless of how much we all trust each other. Keep Wild Card out of it for now. We'll cross that bridge if we need to.

FES eased up on a lot of social links, in persona 3 you had to follow a strict schedule to get max in the first run.
>>
>>41066838
That's exactly why the changed it by then. If you're one of the people that think the actual reveal of the real killer was left of field, this is why. The change was very late into development.
>>
>>41066888
It WOULD contrast a lot with the general theme of the game, but I thought it would still be cool.

>Goes into despair at playing so huge a role in the incident.
>Make a resolution while deep in the fog
>We beat the crap out of him with Kohryu

I wish that in Golden they changed it back to Dojima being the killer, just to fuck with us. They could have made it so that Namatame or Mayuri had something to do with his wife's car accident.

You manage to stay awake and listen to the lecture. Veleis-sensei talks about the types of seraphs in Heaven. Their Persona counterparts are mostly found within the Justice Arcana group. Some believed that praying to God would strengthen the powers of Justice-wielders everywhere. There were theories, but nothing conclusive.

In any case, you manage to learn something new today. Like the fact that Gabriel is a man or a woman depending on the interpretation of the legend.

>Your INTELLIGENCE has increased by 3 points!

Mythology ends and Veleis-sensei leaves the room. You have a brief period before the next period commences.
