Your name is Shane Morris. You are a wizard.

The past 24 hours have been a little rough for you. You fought an evil wizard in the sewers along with his posse of undead and won. You gave his wand to the authorities and upon the identifying the culprit your life got much harder. It is now morning and you haven't been allowed a moment to yourself since you were found by your friends passed out in the sewer 18 hours ago.

As it stands you will be heading to stand before the Wizengamot in a few hours, which is like the wizarding supreme court. And after that you'll be subjected to a press conference, which you feel might go okay given your previous interactions with wizarding reporters, but you were always brought up believing that reporters are the scum of the earth and its hard to let go of that.

On top of all of this you've been told that the Department of Magical Education is going to be seizing custody of you from your parents. Ms. Seizewall the undersecretary slipped you a note saying that she would make arrangements to bend the rules surrounding that, so you're a little more at ease about that, but still.

You have been locked up in the Headmaster's office to wait. You still have a few hours before you have to be before the Wizengamot. You're too nervous to sleep.

@Tiddlybum_HE announces these threads before they start

This Quest is based on this system: http://1d4chan.org/wiki/Harry_Potter_and_the_Tabletop_RPG

You still have 1 unspent perk point.

You walk over to Ms. Seizewall.

“What's going to happen to me?”

She sighs. “For starters you won't be going home this summer. You'll be sent, at least for a time, to a ministry orphanage. When you get adopted out we'll see what happens from there.”

She says 'when' with an emphasis. You get the feeling that someone is already waiting in the wings to adopt you as soon as you land in the orphanage.

“Will, uh, will I see my parents again?”

She looks at you meaningfully. “If someone were to bring them into the wizarding world to see you that would be against the law. Thy could go to jail for a very long time.”

Mums the word. You nod. You wonder if they do this for every kid that gets separated from their muggle parents. You have a feeling that they don't.

“Is there anyway I could ever just go home?”

“No.” She says flatly. “Right now it's too dangerous, to you and your parents. Maybe someday when this is all over. But I wouldn't hold your breath, a lot have people have died thinking they were almost there.”

You start to cry, a little at first, but after a while it just comes. And you cry for hours feeling sad, angry, lonely and afriad.

Finally with streaked eyes you are pried away softly by Ms. Seizewall and taken to the Ministry with the same magic that Ms. Seizewall used to bring you to Hogwarts a scant few months ago.

When you arrive and are led through the lobby no one stops to look. The busyness and the freneticism of the place could hardly be dulled by even an explosion you imagine, let alone a crying little boy.

Down an elevator and out into a nicely appointed lobby. You dry the last of your tears in a mirror, wiping away the redness that streaked down your face. You walk in as defiantly as you can, and the sense of antipathy you get from the people in the benches above you almost sucks the air from your lungs.

Three long bending benches that encircle the room house more than a hundred people all in the same black appointments. At the foremost bench, directly across from the door is a podium which sits empty. No doubt for the minister, if there were one.

In the middle of the room is a chair. Which you sit in uncomfortably.

“Has everyone arrived?” A woman to the left of the podium asks.

“Yes, Madame Secretary.”

“Then let us begin.”

Displays of rebellion or even strength when in the company of nothing-but-enemies doesn't help.

The only good option is making them underestimate you, since you can't sway any minds. Make them think you're just a puppet and pawn for the mudblood adults.
>>
“Mr. Shane Fiegh Morris. You are here to stand witness to the crimes of Altarius Liezzar Kensser. Who among other things is charged with necromancy, and conspiracy to commit treason. Please tell us what happened to bring you into possession of this.” She holds up the wand you took off the boy.

You tell the story, making sure to seem unassuming and frightened. Which is mostly easy because you are entirely frightened if not unassuming in the least.

When you finish one of the men in the back row starts to speak. “What you are telling us then, Mr. Morris, is that in clear violation of not only school rules, not only of a direct order from multiple staff members, but of the law as well, you searched out Mr. Kensser on your own initiative in the sewers of Hogwarts?”

“Sir, I was worried about what might happen, and it seemed like nothing was getting done...”

“Now we are incompetent is it? Well, I will tell you we have half a mind to call a trial for you as soon as...”

“Quiet, Zambini.” Says a woman in the front row. She looks familiar, with black hair and dark features, and when she looks back to you and gives you a small nod you realize that it is Jenny's mother. “We have what we need. If we need you again we'll tell Ms. Siezewall.”

“Agreed.” Says the secretary. “Dismissed.”

You managed to get through that without angering anyone important. Good job.

Now the press conference.

More coming
>>
You arrive in the spot for the 'press conference' early. You realize right away that the wizarding idea of a press conference is much different from yours. You are in a small room with about five chairs, one for you, one for Ms. Seizewall, any three for whoever else is going to show up.

You sit in you chair and wait. After a few minutes Timothy Withers wonders in through the door. He smiles at you. “Mr. Morris. I want to thank you for last time. That story launched me. My bosses are furious obviously. But they've been forced by popular opinion to keep me on. And when you showed up again, they had to put me on it. I hope this is as enlightening as lats time.”

It is 'unsafe' for them and you for them to remain in custody of you. It was aluded to last thread that the ministry does this at the drop of a hat, usually any muggleborn that stands out can be expected to loose their families.

The Department of Magical Education is also a subversive battlefield between the Order of the White Marigold and the Purebloods and both have vested interests in gaining 'control' of you.

“Only a little bit. But I don't mind. In fact I hope to get in a little more trouble today.” He smiles.

Over the next few minutes the other two seats are filled and Timothy starts asking questions. This time he seems to be asking more quickly and straining to keep up momentum. You realize he is pushing the story a certain way, and fishing for quotes he can use and at the same time keeping the other reporters from asking questions.

You like what he did last time, but you're still not sure if you trust him, plus he seems to be under pressure for him last story.

You let him push whatever he's pushing for. He seems to be pushing you toward answers that make you sound defiant and strong which you like, but feel like might be painting too much of a target on your back.

By the time you realize it, he's finished, and Ms. Seizewall quickly ends the interview.

One of the other two reporters, a short man with a long beard curled out in a million ways stops and talks to you in a gruff and unplaceable accent. “Today you besmirch good names. You are perfect example of why mudbloods are not allowed in school in my country.” He spits before leaving. Good call on not letting him ask questions.

You return to Hogwarts and from what you hope will be your last excursion of the year.

Things are not easy, none of the purebloods forget what you've done, and many days are spent rushing from class to class hoping older students don't stop you. But the muggleborns don't forget either, and for every would be bully there is a squad of people there to stand up for you. Your days are not spent at peace, but you are safe it seems.

You find freetime in abundance, mostly in the common room, of course with the mirror club when you can, and when necessary in the Room of Requirement.

You passed all your classes with high marks, though no Os unfortunately. You'll have to try harder next year. However your joy is short lived as you realize that you will not be going home to tell your parents of the great news. Instead you will be headed to an orphanage in London where, if Ms. Seizewall can be believed, you will stay for about a day before someone from the Order can come by and pick you up. Like an errand.

A few days after your tests you are packing up your things along with the other boys. Henry and Robbie say goodbye early before heading out of the room with their things.

Lom's things remain unpacked and Alex is searching around for some quills he misplaced.

“It's been a scary year.” Alex says from under his bed. “All that stuff. Even when I was imagining coming here I thought they'd have us fighting dragons and moving rivers, but... Nothing I imagined was half as scary in my head as what happened.”

“I couldn't have done it without you Alex, I'm really glad you were there for me. But, its gonna get worse. You know that right?”

“I had a feeling. But, I want to try. It's important to me. To do that for you. I think maybe the world wouldn't be like this if people didn't give up so easily. So I'm not going to give up on this or you.”

You think of your old headmaster who was willing to resign himself to loosing students just to keep the status quo. You want to believe that Alex is right and he was wrong. “Thanks.” You say.

Alex finds his things and leaves. You linger for a second before walking out, only to find your way blocked by Lom.

“Oh, Lom.”

He looks away and down, everywhere but your eyes. “Hey, Shane. I was looking for you.”

“Really?” You have a sort of hard time believing that.

“Yeah. I uh, wanted to give you something. A proper Ravenclaw gift.”

“What?” You have no idea where he's going.

He pulls out a book, a tiny, thick black thing with a shiny new leather cover over age yellowed pages, with a big lock on the side. “Here. Its from my family's library.”

“Why?”

“I think you'll be interested in what's inside.”

“Thanks.” You say, taking the book from him like it might bite you or turn into a snake. When it does neither you tuck it away and Lom leaves to go pack.

You continue down the stairs to where all of the trunks are being piled and stack yours neatly on top with a levitation charm.

You see Jenny coming over to you. She hugs you before saying.

“You did good this year Shane. A lot of good. Enough that I wouldn't be here without you. I know things are gonna be weird for a while for you. But I still owe you a rescue, so if things get bad I'll be there to put out the fires and pick up the pieces.” She gives you this big dumb grin before running off to join the other girls headed down to the feast.

You make your way down to the Great Hall, nodding at Sam and Linus as you pass them.

You all settle in for the big announcement. But first, the obligatory speech.

More coming
>>
“This year,” Headmaster Ricimer begins. “Has been harrowing. We lost a headmaster, and a student. More than that we lost peace of mind. I think you will find in the coming years that for those of you yet to join us in adulthood that that day shall come for you far too soon.”

“I don't want you to be afraid, but even less so do I want you to be unprepared. So if that is what it takes, be afraid. In the coming months, years, you will be tested, not just academically but emotionally, morally and spiritually.”

“But let it be known to not just all in attendance today, but to all of the world, that Hogwarts shall never be a place of fear. For as long as these walls stand then even should the last of us fall the school will fight on to protect you, our children.”

“Now without further adieu. The house cup ceremony.”

“In fourth place, Hufflepuff. At 207.” Some jeering from the Slytherin table but at worst some resigned sighs from the Hufflepuffs at that. Sam shrugs at you and smiles.

“In third place, Gryffindor. At 239.” The Gryffindors boo heartily, and you see Sam make a face at the Slytherins.

“In second place, Ravenclaw. At 273.” You feel the mounting tension deflate as the entire hall turns to the Slytherins who start to cheer and make rude gestures at the other tables. Barely anyone hears the headmaster grant Slytherin the cup with a grand total of 281.

More
>>
You settle into a funk as the banners of the hall turn Slytherin green. But as the older kids make faces and the younger kids turn back to their food, and even the Slytherins calm down, you realize its not that important.

You resolve to make the best of it and dig into your food.

The feast ends before dark, and everyone starts to make their way to the train station down the trail to Hogsmeade. A number of students clap you on the back and give you words of encouragement, a few even say they'll see you at the orphanage.

You're standing on the platform before Linus finally catches up to you.

“Hey, tough luck with the Slytherins. Next year. Definitely.”

“Yeah, okay, I'll be more careful.”

“Good talk buddy.” He says clapping you on the back.

You get on the train and find a compartment where Jenny and Alex join you for the trip to London. You try to find Sam a couple times but he seems to be playing hide and seek on the train, indicated by the fact that you found one of his friends crammed in a luggage rack and desperately trying to wave you off when you asked where Sam was.

The ride was normal, no fights, no yelling, no monsters.

Arriving on the platform at King's Cross brought a new monster. The one in your stomach that was surging around, angry that you weren't going home after your long, hard year, but instead to somewhere new and frightening.

You find Ms. Seizewall standing on the curb outside, with a taxi. As you climb inside you find it much bigger on the inside and housing a multitude of children who all looked about as happy to be there as you.

More coming

The cab, when full, begins to whip through the city, seemingly going out of its way to violate every traffic law available.

You arrive, a bit breathless at a decrepit old building with a sign that says; 'Japol and Gresel Orphanarium 35¼ West 48th'.

Led inside you find a dank old multiplex that has been converted into an orphanage.

You are placed in a room with ten other kids and eagerly await the morning so that you can leave the scent of mothballs far behind.

The next morning you trundle downstairs to find Jenny's parents already waiting as you had guessed. But the look on their faces was confused and irritated, rather than comforting in any way.

“What do you mean he's already been adopted! By who?” You hear Jenny's father yell to Japol, the greasy, ill-dressed patron of the orphanage.

“I am sorry,” Japol says. “But I am not at liberty to discuss the whos and whys.”

“I will make you...” Mr. Black starts.

Then the bell above the door rings and in walks a tall man in a black suit with long flowing sleeves, lined entirely in white. In his lapel is a tiny, perfectly white marigold. He has a long drawn face and whitening blonde hair. Behind him is Ms. Seizewall.

Yup. We're fucked.

I can smell the hypocrisy from here. No way is this not going to end in an attempted genocide.

>I don't want to be the cause of a blood war.
Too late, we've already touched it off.
It's only a matter of time before it gets to the streets; factions are simply getting their preparations in order right now.

Fuck.

Is the White Marigolds like a secret society? And could we make a magic car bomb?
>>
>>41043521
The Order of the White Marigold is a secret society that helps mudbloods. They've been leaving you cryptic hints and get well cards since you first saved Jenny. You know that Ms. Seizewall is a member, and that they have plans for you, but other than that you don't know much about them.

>Is the White Marigolds like a secret society
Have you read the quest? What else would it be?
>>
>>41043609
I meant is it like a "gentlemans club" or full MI6? That's been answered now, thanks Tiddlybum.

we really need to get a pistol later on, death curse is great and all, but nothing says dead like 9mm of lead in the forehead

Maybe use Order contacts to get in touch with some American Wizards and get something from them? See if they've got runed Colt Peacemakers?

Otherwise, I suppose we could just sneak onto an RA base and raid their armory.
Though keep in mind that anti-technology wards may be in use in certain places.

Sniper rifle and training. Kill pureblooded from a mile away.

But we're in England, and will predominantly be in urban areas, inside buildings, forests, and other places with lots of terrain cover.

Instead of a sniper rifle, maybe just a higher-end assault rifle or DMR will do.

Bombs, of course, will be very problematic. We'll need to use mechanical timers and detonators, since high concentrations of magic burn out microchips and interfere with electrical systems.

Egg timer.

>not getting adopted by Jenny's family
>not having awesome magic adventures in our new house with QT not sister
>not fighting side by side against dark wizards as not siblings
>not getting closer as we overcome pureblood tyranny until we're more than her not brother
I miss the thread and find it only ends in heart break, fucking house elves

mechanical fuses are some of the most simple devices ever and fertilizer is abundant. we're going to be making magic infused wagon bombs by the time we're 13.

How the fuck would you learn anything about improvised Muggle weapons when you've been abducted an adopted into wizard society and aren't able to use the Internet anymore.
