You are Sallazar, a young wizard who has recently left the army. You have taken a teaching job at Egwen Girls Convent.

In addition the Headmaster of the school wants you to run the schools adventurers club, to give some of the schools more...unusual...girls something fun to do.

You head out looking for Syphoebeus. You wander over much of the school, but there’s no sign of her.

Finally, a group of giggling succubi-tiefling girls tell you where to find *the clumsy giantess*.
---
You fly up the side of the tower, carried by your magic, until you’re level with the very tall young girl currently climbing the outside of the tower.

Syphoebeus has an athletic build, long blonde hair and silver eyes, she is 7ft 6inches tall and has a long skirt tied up in a knot, showing her bare legs to the world.

“Syphoebeus” you say “what are you doing?” You fly up to one side, approaching from the side that doesn’t involve you staring up her dress.

“Sorry sir” she says, pausing in her climb to grin at you “I guess this is against the rules, right?”

“Somewhat, yes” you say “why are you climbing the northern bell tower?”

“Oh some girls said it had never been done” says Syphoebeus vaguely “sounded like a challenge, um, can I finish the climb before you put me in detention Sir?”

“Why not” you say “whilst you climb; I was wanting to talk to you.”
>>
“Of course Sir” says Syphoebeus with a grunt, as she continues climbing “how can I help?”

Your response?

So far what I have understood, we have.

2 Roguish girls, Calluna, Chame
3 Melee girls Nevyn, Evrumine, Anlanesa (half caster?)
1 ranger, Phaysis
2 casters, Cleya, Anlanesa

Syphoebeus is clearly going to be tank, Kittrane sounds like fighter type too.

Just saying that I would rather get an priest/healer and druid before more fighters.
Even though Giantess is must to have.

She is in a weird position. She has not really unlocked most of her power set. No idea what war form does.

She has a bunch of spell like abilities she can unlock too.

Also a very high willpower and fellowship cap too.
>>
>>41013609
You don't just recruit a priest-girl or druid-girl, nobody even has those as favored classes. You take a girl that would mesh well with the class and then try to get her interested in it.

Druid is honestly kinda bad.

“Have you had much to do with Kittrane?” you ask.

“Yes sir” says Syphoebeus as she hauls herself up the stone “but I’m surprised she dobbed me in.”

“She didn’t tell on you” you say “though if you want to tell me about the incident you’re referring to...”

Syphoebeus chuckles “guess I got myself there sir, um, right lesse, two days ago I saw Kittrane hassling the running club, the sprinters, wanting to see if they’d fight her. I stepped in and knocked her down.”

“Is this typical of your interactions with her?” you ask “I had heard you only tangled once?”

“Once for a full fight” says Syphoebeus, pulling herself up into a window and sitting on the ledge as she catches her breath “but we exchange the odd punch now and then, just to see. Kittrane doesn’t take losing well, but she knows she can’t beat me.”

“So you stand up to her when she’s bullying others?” you ask. Syphoebeus rubs her shoulder and says “unless they want to fight her alone – which some girls do, then yes, I step in when I see her picking on someone.”

“What do you think to her?” you ask her.

Syphoebeus shrugs “she’s a bully” she says

“You don’t sound bothered by that” you say “but you stop her, why?”

“It’s all she knows Sir” says Syphoebeus “it’s like, I don’t blame cats for scratching, why should I blame Kitten?”

Well, the debate about animals vs reasoning beings can wait for another day.

“So you wouldn’t have any problem with working with her” you say “if she behaved?”

“Working how?” asks Syphoebeus, giving you a confused look.

“Have you ever considered employment as an evil henchgirl?” you ask, rubbing your hands together and cackling “let me tell you about our benefits package....”

You explain about the adventuring club, and the evil team you’re putting together.

“Really, me, pretending to be evil?” says Syphoebeus doubtfully “you really think I could?”
>>
“It might be difficult” you say “but I think you’re up to the challenge, plus, you’d get to fight almost-real monsters.”

Syphoebeus looks torn “it does sound a lot of fun” she says “but I have several club commitments already: the climbing club, the athletics club, the airship club.”

“Airship club?” you ask “we *have* an airship club?”

“Oh yes” says Syphoebeus “We talk about them all the time, I wish we could go on an airship ride, but” she says ruefully “We don’t have the money. Sorry Sir” she shakes her head “I’ll have to say no, for now.”

“That’s a shame” you say “because I was planning on taking the adventuring club to their first real match on an airship as a treat...and I’m sure we could take a few supporters with us, like maybe the airship club.”

“Sir!” objects Syphoebeus “that’s bribery”

“No its not” you say reasonably “we’ll take the airship club if you join or not, no obligation – all they need to do is show up at the dungeon and cheer.”

“Hmmm, alright” says Syphoebeus “as long as its not a bribe.”

“Oh no” you say “I wouldn’t dream of bribing you” technically true, your dreams are of things far less pleasant than talking to young girls.

“Ok,” says Syphoebeus, resuming her climb “so if I’m evil do I have to stamp around saying I make bread out of peoples bones and stuff?”

“Do you want to?” you ask
---
Once Syphoebeus has completed her climb and the both of you are standing on solid ground she says “right sir, how much detention for climbing the tower?”

“What tower?” you say “I see no-woah!”

Syphoebeus sweeps you up in a hug, leaving your legs dangling in thin air; cuddling you as you might cuddle a child “Awww” she says “that’s so sweet.”

When she puts you down again you straighten your robes “never do that again” you say grumpily. You hate being short.

“Of course Sir” says Syphoebeus, patting the top of your head.

Kittrane it is

Rolling for encounters
>>
You wander back to the main building with Syphoebeus, and then bid her goodbye as you search out the next girl you intend to recruit: Kittrane.

You spend most of an hour searching all over, to no avail. Then you come across a group of students standing around talking, and looking horrified

“Is everything alright girls?” you ask.

They all exchange looks, until by silent consensus, a spokesgirl is selected “It’s Kittrane Sir” says the unlucky one “she just ran up those stairs there” she says, pointing “and she was covered in blood, I think she must have killed someone!”

“I’ll see to this” you say firmly “if you see any injured students, call a teacher, but no spreading rumours please.”

And with that, you head up the stairs. This is a semi-abandoned part of the school – used only when there’re no oher places available.

“Kittrane” you call out “Kittrane, are you there?” You start searching through dusty classrooms and storage rooms.

Finally you find her, as you open a door and see...rather more of her than expected.

“So sorry!” you say, immediately averting your eyes “I did call out”

“I heard you” says Kittrane, focused on her task.

The brief glance you got when you came in was of a tall, muscular girl. She is 6ft 6inches tall and has a reddish tinge to her skin; she has long red hair, of a deep crimson, almost blood-red.

She is standing in front of a bowl of cloudy water, naked from the waist up, sideways on to you as she uses a wet cloth to clean the many deep gashes on her skin. They look painful but she doesn’t even wince as she cleans the wounds roughly.

Kittrane looks like she was attacked with some sort of bladed weapon, except...there’s several bite marks on her neck and shoulder, wolf? Bear? You’re not sure.

What do you do?

“Here” you say, picking up a spare rag lying next to the bowl and soaking it “let me help with that, what-”

Just before you touch the wet cloth to her blood-stained skin a big solid red fist is flying at your head.

Reflexes learned on the Walls kick in and you duck under it, take a half step back, and have your hands raised to cast a spell before you even know what’s happening.

“Woah!” you say, as Kittrane starts to turn towards you “I’m not trying to hurt you”

“Don’t touch me!” growls Kittrane. The two of you lock gazes for several moments. Kittrane breaks eye-contract first, giving a snort of contempt and resumes cleaning her wounds.

“I’m just trying to help” you say in a calm tone “those wounds look bad.” Even as you watch, some are still seeping blood. “Do you mind if I help you?

“You can help by staying away from me” Kittrane says, continuing to clean her wounds, scrubbing at them with a wet cloth as if she hates them.

Up close you can see that they look like claw and bite marks, some sort of large animal. Some of the wounds are scabbed over and Kittrane looks in no danger of dying, most of the wounds are just jagged surface cuts, fresh injuries over old scars that cover her arms and torso.

Kittrane seems not to care that you’re there, making no effort to cover herself.

“What happened?” you ask.

“Bear” she says.

“How bad was it?” you ask gently

“What do you care?” she snaps at you

“Well if you beat up a bear I know” you say “I’d be pretty upset about it.”

Kittrane pauses in her ministrations “what?” she asks you

“If you look this bad” you say “how rough is the bear feeling?”

Kittrane gives a snort and you see a hint of a smile, before she resumes her task “Pretty bad” she says.

“So what’d the bear do to deserve its sore head?” you ask.

You wait for an answer, finally Kittrane shrugs and says “I felt like it.”

“There’s got to be more to it than that” you say.

She shakes her head “Nope, I felt like a fight, so I went looking for one.”

“You feel like a fight often?” you ask.

“I think you don’t like to talk much” you say “but that doesn’t tell either of us very much, maybe you’re no good at talking, or maybe others aren’t so good at listening.”

“Hah” responds Kittrane “yeah, maybe”

“I mean, what does fighting mean to you anyway?” You ask

“What sort of question is that?” asks Kittrane

“A fairly simple one” you say.

“A dumb one” she counters “fighting is fighting”

“So” you draw out the word “how is it different from walking?”

Kittrane snorts “that’s stupid” she says “walking just gets you where you’re walking to.”

“And where does fighting get you?” You ask

“Detention” says Kittrane “I’m guess I fell into your clever trap, so how many days?”

“If that’s all it gets you” you ask “why do you fight?”

“What?” asks Kittrane

“If all you get out of fighting” you say “Is detention, why fight? Do you *like* detention so much?”

“No” says Kittrane, as if just asked the dumbest question in the world “detention sucks.”

“Then why do you fight?” you ask

“Why do you care?” she asks

“You first” you say “I’ll tell you why I care, if you tell me why you fight.”

There’s a pause, as Kittrane finishes cleaning her wounds, and then stands, towering over you, still topless. You focus on her face.

“You couldn’t even begin to understand” she says, looking down at you with contempt.

“Try me” you say, meeting her gaze and refusing to look away.

“Try me” you say, meeting her gaze and refusing to look away.

Kittrane stares at you for a long moment before saying anything, then she finally says “ok teach, you want to do this, let’s do this. I’m not like the other girls, they’re children, I’m not; I’ve already grown up.”

You don’t say anything; you just raise an eyebrow as Kittrane continues “I never knew my mother, from as long as I remember it was just my dad and me ok? Sure sometimes he’d sign on with one adventuring party or another, but it never lasted that long, they’d be thin-skinned assholes or try to cheat him. Anyway he took me everywhere, including into fights with him, so yeah, I’m all grown up and I don’t need to join a silly club or learn how to grow up. So there you go, that’s my life story. Why do I fight? It’s what I’m good at.”

Kittrane turns away from you and picks up a badly torn and blood-stained jacket and turns to go.

That told you quite a bit about her, but it didn’t really answer your question, or explain why she’s running off into the woods to fight bears.

“I think there’s more to it than that” you say “I guess you’re just not ready to talk about it right now.”

Kittrane snorts as she heads for the door, her tattered jacket held loosely in one hand “think whatever you like” she says “that’s all there is.”

“Except the bit about your father” you say “what happened to him?”

Kittrane pauses at the door, her back still to you “He’s gone” she says, almost a whisper.

“Gone?” ask gently “Gone how?”

Kittrane gives you a look of contempt and says “He’s dead, idiot” and leaves, slamming the door behind her.

You wonder if going after her is a wise move, she seems upset about losing her father, which is understandable.

I don't care about him or his intended usage. All I care about is that *before* he did so, you were lecturing him on the definition of the word in a condescending fashion when it could've been a correct usage.

Just about every online dictionary contains it and I was familiar with it as a usage of whiny off the top of my head, it's not my job to educate you.

I'm not seeing how you've proved the usage of ill-tempered erroneous, since it's not mutually exclusive and the quick jump to hostility would speak of someone with an irritable temperament.

You’re not exactly used to the social brush off. You’ve lived with dwarves for too long maybe, and they’re blunt, logical and always have a purpose.

You head after Kittrane, opening the door you see her striding down the corridor. You hope this works...and if it works too well...you raise your Spell Mantle.

“A lot of girls lost their fathers in the Last War” you call after Kittrane “and most of them talk about how wonderful and caring their dads were. The girls who won’t talk about their fathers are usually the ones whose fathers just left them.”

Kittrane comes to a dead a stop, then turns around slowly, her face a picture of shock, slowly turning to anger “What did you say?”

“I said: did your father really die? Or just leave you?”

Kittrane is striding towards you now. She starts to steam, literally, there’s steam coming off her, now flames lick out of her eyes and mouth. Finally, her whole body catches fire, as do her clothes. She’s almost on you now, and her fists come up, the clothes in her hands now just ash.

“I saw my father eaten by a fucking wyvern!” she screams as her fist comes flying at your face. “Right in front of me! When I was thirteen!”

You try not to flinch as her burning fist stops less than a quarter of an inch from your face, stopped dead by your stoneskin spell. You feel nothing as it hits; no impact or heat.

Kittrane looks mildly perturbed by this, and tries again, launching several punches at your head, body, and even a kick to your groin. None of her attacks do anything.

“Why won’t you fucking die!” she snarls

“Abjuration magic, child” you say calmly.
>>
So, she saw her father killed in front of her; that would explain her temper. So why....hmmm, maybe...

“And I’m not a fucking child!” she screams, hitting you again, and again. You feel none of her attacks “I’m an adult, I’m stronger than any child, and I’ll keep getting stronger!”

“Why?” you ask, casually crossing your arms “why get stronger? What’s the point?”

“I’ll get so strong nothing can kill me!” she yells. She keeps punching and kicking at you. Finally she tears a door off its hinges and smashes it over your head two handed.

“Is that why your father died?” you ask gently “because he wasn’t strong enough?”

Kittrane takes a moment to breathe, her chest heaving “Fuck you” she says. Her clothes have completely disintegrated and she’s standing in front of you wearing only flames.

“Or is it fear?” you ask “I mean, seeing their father killed would scare anyone, do you keep fighting, keep getting stronger so you don’t have to be afraid anymore?”

“No!” yells Kittrane, the flames around her intensifying. You ready a spell in case she starts to set the building around you on fire.

“I’m not afraid! I’m not a coward!” yells Kittrane, and then she explodes, a wave of fire rolls over you. When it clears you see Kittrane on her hands and knees on the stone floor, her burning aura is gone.

“I’m not a coward” she says, but she’s not looking at you, she’s looking at the ground “I won’t run away, not again, I’m not a coward, I’m not, Dad I’m sorry I ran...”

She’s paying no attention to you. You see tears dripping from her eyes onto the stone floor.

Item costs/time added to rules pastebin.

Posting here as an update

Item Costs

The Base cost of an Item is

Rank (of the spell used to make it) Squared x 1,000 gold. For multiple spells in an item the cost is worked out per spell, then totalled.

Creation Time is 1 day per 1,000 gold

This is the cost in components to make an item, the market price may be higher.

Creation time assumes you’re working on it for a full day (10 hours), it will be longer if working part time (evenings for example)

Costs may vary depending upon the skill of the mage, and for specific items.

You will get significant discounts for abjuration spells, writing that up between updates.

You takes off your cloak and drape it over her as she sits down, looking tired. She doesn’t react.

“Lets go back into the room” you say, trying to pull her to her feet “We don’t want anyone else to see.”

Kittrane nods numbly and lets you pull her up and lead her back into the empty classroom. She slumps down in a chair, and pulls the cloak around her, shivering a little.

You take seat next to her “So tell me about your father” you say gently “what was he like?”

Kittrane is silent for a long time, then she speaks “He was amazing” she says “he knew everything about weapons, about soldering. He was just a sergeant when he left the army, but he knew more than any officer. He signed on with an adventurers guild to earn a living, but didn’t stay.” She’s not looking at you, just staring into the distance.

“It wasn’t to his taste?” you ask.

Kittrane shakes her head “he argued with them” she says “he was right, but they couldn’t see that, and he was stubborn, so we left.”

“We kept joining different groups, then leaving again. Some of them didn’t like him, or me.” She continues

“And he taught you how to fight?” you ask.

“Yeah” says Kittrane “I grew up fast, by the age of 11 I was fighting alongside him, small stuff at first, goblins and kobolds – he kept me away from the big stuff, like wyverns.”

“What happened?” you ask gently.

“My dad got hired by a bunch of young nobles” says Kittrane, scowling, seeming to come out of her fugue a bit “they fancied themselves adventurers and hired him as a fighter, treated us both like shit. One of them tried to climb in bed with me – I threw him into the fire, things turned bad after that. Dad wanted to leave but they said he’d taken their money, so he agreed to stick with them until we got back to town.”

Kittrane looks down “there was a caravan, and wyverns attacking it, lots of them. They wanted to help, but my dad said it was too dangerous, they rushed in anyways, and he went in after them, I followed too.”
>>
“He knew how to fight wyverns” says Kittrane “he started yelling at the caravan guards, some listened and started to beat the wyverns back, the nobles didn’t, and mostly got killed. Dad rushed out to try and save the last one, I went with him. We were dragging him to safety when four wyverns attacked. Dad was...you wouldn’t believe how good he was, he could fight two of them and win, maybe three if he got lucky” She grins “I’d seen him take down six of them that day already, I knew he could do it.”

Then her expression turns bleak again “I wanted to stay and help, but he told me to get the noble into the circle of caravans. I wanted to stay but he yelled in his best drill sergeants voice, and I-I-I- I shouldn’t have!” Tears start pouring down her face. You let her get it out of her system, fetching a damp cloth for her.

She takes the cloth from you wordlessly, and wipes her face before continuing “So I dragged the idiot to safety, and by the time I was ready to go back, I got to the edge of the wagons just in time to see him thrown down, and a wyvern bite his head off” her voice is dull now, drained of emotion.

“There were two dead wyverns, and the other two were badly cut up, but the caravan guards pulled me back when I tried to attack them, I think I hurt some of the guards, I don’t know. I remember waking up in the town cells, in a mages cage. I was told I had to come here to the school, or stay in prison for a few years.”

Kittrane finishes her story and noisily blows her nose. It’s late at night and you both need some sleep.

Not really
She was ordered to take noble away while her father fought against wyverns
He was ordered to collapse walls with dwarves on them
>>
“It wasn’t your fault” you say to her “you did what you were told, your father just wanted to keep you and everyone safe, and he gave you orders to that effect....” Your voice trails off as you remember a similar situation.
---
As you lean heavily on your staff, gasping with the effort of casting your spell a dwarf in ornate armour comes running over “Azar, Azar!” he yells, your nickname amongst the dwarves – only those close to you call you by it.

The dwarf grabs you by the arm and lifts up your sagging form, even as weariness drags you down.

“The keys, use the keys!” he yells “use the damn keys!”

Your exhausted mind can’t quite understand what he’s saying.

“Collapse the wall?” you say, not sure you heard him right. You are one of the few mages trusted with the arcane phrases that can cause the magic of the spellcarved walls to turn upon themselves, collapsing the walls and ruining them as fortifications – preventing the drow from using them. But things aren’t that desperate yet, surely.

“No” you say slowly, shaking your head “we can still win this; we just need to hold out for another few minutes.”

“They’re not coming lad” says the dwarf sadly “messenger just arrived; they’re holding at fall-back positions and digging in.”

“No” you say, shaking your head again, the fatigue making it feel like your head is wrapped in thick cloth “They wouldn’t-”

“They just did!” yells the dwarf “start the spell – we’ll hold ‘em for you!”

He lets go of you and runs towards the front line, just as the drow cavalry starts their charge-
---
“Sir, um Sir” a voice asks “are you ok?”

You realise Kittrane is turned to you, giving you a curious look, “you just kinda trailed off.”

“Sorry” you say, collecting your wits “Where was I?”

“Telling me it wasn’t my fault” says Kittrane, rolling her eyes “like I haven’t heard that before, and it doesn’t help.”

“No” you say hollowly “it doesn’t, sorry. I shouldn’t have said that.”
>>
>>41028790
Oh, you are just being obtuse on purpose. I thought you had a legitimate point.
>>
Kittrane gives you a sceptical look “are you sick? Teachers usually tell me lots of stupid stuff about being a kid and not bearing any responsibility”.

“And yet the feeling of responsibility follows you” you say, pushing down the memories of murdering your own friends. Orders or no orders that’s what you did, you murdered them. “No matter the orders or situation or anything, it still follows you.”

“Yeah, yeah, no one else gets that” says Kittrane. And the two of you just sit there for some time, lost in your thoughts.

You snap out of it first “So why do you pick on the other girls?” you ask Kittrane

Kittrane snorts “I’m a big tough balor soulborn” she says, managing to swagger despite being seated “tormenting other people is in my nature, I’m born evil.”

“Really?” you ask her, resisting the urge to smile

“No!” she says, shaking her head “look, yes, I like to fight, I want to get better at fighting. I pick fights because no one *wants* to fight me. I don’t pick on anyone I can beat easily, there’s no point. And it toughens up the ones I do fight, ok? I stop fighting if they look hurt and drag them to the teachers. I don’t pick on those that aren’t a challenge.”

“So its a sort of informal training?” you ask “Syphoebeus-”

“The end boss?” says Kittrane wistfully “Maybe I’ll be good enough to take another run at her by the end of this year.”

“And pushing girls around?” you ask “wanting to be in charge?”

“That’s just school life” she says dismissively “you either push or you get pushed. If someone else wants to be in charge, they gotta earn it.”

Well, its somewhat strange philosophy, but you follow the logic of it, you guess.

Fair enough, I will try to label options more clearly in the future.

Going with making the offer but telling her to think about it before deciding.

“There’s a place you can fight without getting into trouble” you say casually “the adventurers club is always looking for new members.”

“Huh, fake monsters” says Kittrane “boring.”

“Magical illusions” you correct her “indistinguishable from the real thing.”

“Fake weapons” counters Kittrane

“Blunted” you say “but still metal, the safety spell does the rest.”

“Caster supremacy” says Kittrane “I’m a fighter.”

“Limits on how powerful a spell can be used” you say “besides, I bet magic would come easily to you, if you wanted to try it.”

Kittrane is silent, obviously thinking about it.

“Don’t answer now” you say “think about it, anyway, it’s late, both of us should be in bed.”
---
You rise the next day full of purpose. Your adventuring club is growing, the students are paying attention in your classes and last night you actually had a peaceful night with no dreams.

Some small cynical part of you wonders what’s waiting to go horribly go wrong. Nevertheless you head out to your first lesson with your head held as high as you can.

Mid-way through your second lesson a student knocks on the door and hands you a handwritten note.

“Prof. Sallazar

I have just spoken to your friends David and Daven. Apparently the Junior Adventurers League has recently instituted a new rule about club registrations.

You need to travel to register at a national office of the Adventurers and Dungeoneers Association, and you need to have at least four of your club with you. Albas national office is still undergoing repairs apparently, so you may need to go to Lysva.

Registration deadline is about a week away. Come and see me when you can.

C Sarum
Headmaster”
>>
You thank the student for bringing you the note and then shove it in your pocket, somewhat irritated. The worst part of this is always the bureaucracy; you’ll no doubt have to stand in line for 3 hours to get a copy of form 9479-1B. Then you’ll spend another 2 hours attempting to decipher the incomprehensible mess, another 3 hours waiting to hand it in, followed by finding out you *really* needed to fill in form 9479-1D, then they’ll lose the fucking form and then....

By the time lunch break rolls around, you’re ready to start killing bureaucrats.

What do?

You head up to the Headmasters office, but he isn’t there. After searching for him, you locate him in a classroom, just tidying up after a lesson. Huh, so he does teach sometimes.

“Good morning Sallazar” says Sir Sarum “How are you today?”

You throw the note down on the desk in front of him “what’s this all about?”

“I called your friends to thank them” says the Headmaster “They asked me to give you the message, I don’t really comprehend why, something about league tables and points scoring, but apparently new teams need to register, otherwise they cannot take part in official matches – and the next registration tranche is after winter solstice.”

“Three months without any sort of match?” you ask incredulously “What’re we supposed to do?”

“Recruit and train I suppose” says the Headmaster “and your friends can provide you with unofficial dungeons I expect.”

“Still” you say “three months.”

“Or you can go to the capital of Lysva and register” says Sir Sarum “take a day off, we can cover for you, and the school can afford five Lightning Rail tickets.”

“Why do the girls need to be there?” you ask “and why shouldn’t I just teleport?”

“Ah yes” says Sir Sarum “You’ve been on the Walls, teleporting across national boundaries is illegal, as is teleporting to the border, taking a step over and walking the rest of the way. Tracking it is another matter, but I’d prefer it if you didn’t break the law.”

“And the girls?” you ask.

“Your friend mentioned something about adventuring clubs getting discounts on certain equipment, and some people registering fake clubs to cheat the system, so they need to see, in person, at least one team – four students.” Says the Headmaster

“So you want me to take four girls to a city of vice and sin and rich idiots” you say, “the capital is still where they have all the banks and stockmarkets right?”

“I trust you’ll keep them safe” says the Headmaster

“Its a twelve hour Lightning Rail Journey!” you say.
>>
“More if you stop at some of the scenic places along the way” says the Headmaster “make a weekend of it perhaps?”

The usual three-day weekend starts the day after tomorrow, that’s enough time to pick which girls get to go to the big city. You expect they’ll all want to go.

“Right” you say “this weekend it is then. I best go round up the girls.”

You head for the door, only for it to be opened rather quickly, you jump back.

“Oh sorry Sir” says Groundskeeper Answick to you, to the Headmaster he says “edmaster sir, we’ve got scalpers on the grounds.”

“Scalpers?” you ask

“An unfortunate hazard of running a school for such special girls” says the Headmaster, rising from his seat “rogue procurers of magical components, and sometimes live specimens.”

Wait, does he mean there’re people here to-

“Go to lunch Sallazar” says the Headmaster “I shall deal with this.” He follows Groundskeeper Answick out.
---
You round up the members of your evil team (they really need to settle upon a name) and you find Syphoebeus and Kittrane as well.

With all six sat at a table together with you, you attempt some introductions, and team organisation.

“So with a core team of four, and two reserves, we should be able to field a full team at any time, whether we’re on the dungeon crew, or competing as an adventuring team.” You finish explaining your plan, and then you look around, and realise the girls aren’t listening.

Syphoebeus and Kittrane are sat opposite one another; Kittrane is glaring at Syphoebeus – who is simply smiling at Kittrane, as the other girls watch them intently.

“Hey, hey deal with that later” you say “This is important; we need to pick a main team, and a team name.”

The girls snap out of it, sort of.

“Dibs” says Nevyn

“Reserves” says Evrumine

“Rogue reporting for team” says Chame, giving you a mock salute. You think she’s volunteering to be on the team.

“I suppose I’m going to be in charge again” says Cleya “So I’m in.”

“Wait” says Kittrane “if I’m joining, I should be in charge.”

Syphoebeus grins “I don’t mind, team or reserves” she says “sounds like we’ll be subbing a lot, so either is fine with me.” She leans back and her chair creaks alarmingly.

Cleya and Kittrane are...discussing team leadership.
>>
“You’re not even in the club!” says Cleya “besides, how much experience do you have in dungeoneering?”

“Oooh, one whole dungeon” says Kittrane “I was killing goblins whilst you were still playing with dollies Three-eyes, besides, who says I can’t join?” She turns to you “Sir, can I join?”

“Of course you can” you say “but you shouldn’t make a decision based on-”

“There, I’m in” says Kittrane, looming over Cleya, who looks worried, but doesn’t back down as Kittrane continues “so I’m in the club, I’m on the team, I’m team leader.”

“Pfft, yeah how about not!” says Evrumine, half-rising. Syphoebeus’ chair creaks again, as she leans forward, hands on the table, ready to move.

“Here we go....” says Chame.

Before you can intervene, Nevyn says “how about a vote?”

“What?” asks Evrumine

“No” says Kittrane, shaking her head “everyone’ll just pick her to get at me.”

“How about a delayed vote” says Cleya to Kittrane “We each get to be leader for a whole dungeon each, then a vote.”

Kittrane pauses, thinking about this.

Well, it seems like you have your team
Chame
Cleya
Nevyn
Kittrane

And your reserves
Syphoebeus
Evrumine

But no team name, and disputed leadership. Of course, that’s with the girls making the decision. But you’re the teacher, what do you say?

“Well I think that’s the team sorted” you say “Evrumine and Syphoebeus in reserves, everyone else on the team.”

Kittrane gives Cleya a smug look.

“And a delayed vote sounds like an excellent idea” you say to Cleya, who nods and smiles a little “I think Cleya should be in charge for the next dungeon” as Kittrane scowls you add “we’re all a little new to this, but Cleya has some experience already, and then you can go next Kittrane.” She seems mollified at that

“Now” you say “before we pick a name-”

“Ooooh, oh, Slaughterhouse Six!” says Evrumine, her hand shooting up.

“We’re going to be the Aberrants” says Cleya

“Why can’t we be the Dark Hunters?” asks Nevyn.

“Evil is Sexy” says Chame with a giggle, you suspect hers is not a serious suggestion, she wanted *Hidden Marauders* before.

“A Critique of Modern Hierarchies” suggests Syphoebeus

“Really?” Kittrane asks Evrumine “A cow-themed name?”

“It’s not!” yells Evrumine, jumping to her feet, Kittrane rises as well “it’s a name about how we’ll slaughter anyone who stands in our-”

“*Before* we pick a team name” you say “we need to talk about registration.”

You tell them about the trip you’ll be making that weekend, and how only four girls can come with.

As they all volunteer, Evrumine asks “can’t we all come?”

“It’s going to cost a lot anyway” you say “So no, sorry.”

“Wasn’t Dave going to pay us to go in his dungeons?” asks Nevyn. It sounds so wrong when she says it like that...

“The funds are for the good of the club” you say “not for-”

“This is for the good of the club” says Cleya “It’ll be a useful team-building exercise.”

“You mean dress-buying exercise” says Chame under her breath. Ah yes, a little spending money might be needed, but extra tickets could run to 100 gold each.

“The primary team will be going” you say “Cleya, Chame, Nevyn and Kittrane.”

Chame pumps a fist into the air “Yes!” as Evrumine groans in disappointment. The other girls show similar signs of joy, or unhappiness.

“So, for team name” you say “are you going to vote, or...?”

“Names from a hat” says Cleya firmly “its the fairest option” she says as the girls voice objections, or in Chames case, suggest a game of cards to settle it, in fact she has a deck of cards right here, slightly dog-eared, never mind the marks...

They all write down a suggestion each on a piece of paper and put them into a conical hat.

“Here’s hoping” says Evrumine, her upper-class Torrow accent thickening, as her idea goes into the hat.

Cleya presents you with the hat, you reach in and draw out a piece of paper, unravel it and read it aloud.

“And the winning name is...” you pause for effect “Fell Storm”

The girls all look at one another “Who...?” asks Cleya

“What’s wrong with it?” asks Kittrane, folding her arms.

“Um, nothing” says Evrumine “but I thought your suggestion would be more, um, demon-y.”

“Yeah, well, that’s my suggestion” says Kittrane, scowling “If you don’t like it, pick another.”

“Team Fell Storm” you make a note “alright girls, I’ll check the time table and let you know when the lightning rail leaves, it could be late night or early morning though. And if we miss it there will be trouble, so I expect you to be all packed and ready down at the station twenty minutes *before* it leaves....”
---
That afternoon classes pass quickly, and the adventuring club is once again the stuff of rumour; it seems many girls believe that the trip into Lysva is a reward of some sort, though they can’t figure out what Kittrane is being rewarded for.

After classes and dinner, what’s the plan?

>Make magic item (what?)
>Club meeting
>Recruit Trainer (which?)
>Tutor girl (which?)
>Recruit girl (which?)
>Other (what?)

>I guess we no longer have one?

Correct

>How hard would it be to make fake one?

Hmm, your forgery skills are non-existent, but you can cast illusions

Was the name chosen randomly?

How long would it take us to create something enchanted with Protection against Evil?

See, Cleya is showing lots of initiative and fairness. Good things for a leader to have.

The winning option was chosen by die-roll
Kittrane won, so I had to think what she would choose.

Sounds more of what Phoebe would choose, to be honest. Storm is her niche, isn't it?

>>41031632
>Recruit Girl (Tisinia or Safire)
>>
>>41031769
But "Fell" Storm is definitly closer to Kittrane.

1 hour 36 minutes, and 160 gold

>Recruit girl (Nataline)
Her unknown race makes me curious.

Kittrane didn't have an original name, she picked the name of an adventuring party her dad was part of for a while

Maybe she'll tell you about them one day
>>
>>41031800
Great, then maybe we con do it before going to bed, for Janrael so she has something to tide her over when we leave for a few days, and we can see if the enchantment wears off too.
>>
>>41031849
160 Gold is kind of a lot.

Oh right, I'm used to PoJ levels of absurd wealth.

But I think we can get that out of the schools funds. I'm sure we could convince the Headmaster, its for a students well-being afterall.

Is it wrong that it makes me think of Fell's Five, the party from the D&D comics?

>Expert Spell
>Dispel Magic (automatically dispels Rank 1 and 2 spells without a roll, removes 3 spells/effects target even on area dispel)
The bonus would be reading comprehension.

I have not actually spell checked Pallys own writing in those, since I didn't include the descriptions, which had most of them.
Next version I hopefully think of doing that.
