>Summary:
You are techpriest Heracor Nahive. You were forcefully implanted a brain chip that made you into little more than a working drone, nullified your emotions and willpower. One day for unknown reasons the chip stopped working and you were returned to your former self. You felt the need of vengeance, right now you are travelling the Galaxy trying to become stronger to return one day and fight the ones that enslaved your mind.

>Main Mission:
- Become stronger and fight the Magus that installed the chip on your brain.
>>Secondary Missions:
- None
>>Optional Missions:
- None

>CURRENT LOCATION:
ABOUT TO EXIT THE WARP
>>
Once again the ship left the warp and headed into a close planet. From an arched window you were able to see how the Cruiser crossed some gas clouds and headed into a verdant planet covered in rivers that gave it an overall rugged look. On the horizon a pyramidal structure broke the skyline; it was metallic looking but also had some neon lights and an irregular surface that was covered with pipes, hatch doors, grills and all kind of mechanisms or antennas along with magnificent rock and marble statues and great glass stained windows and brightly colored roses.

There wasn't any other city or artificial structure visible from our position so it was possible that the planet was some sort of station and generally devoid of human life.

This was our final destination and since our presence in there had Inquisitorial motives nobody but the Inquisitress and her retinue was able to descend into orbit. In fact to refuel and replenish the resources there were some transports sent with mile long pipes that would ascend into the orbiting Cruiser to send fuel, water and mashed nutritive paste.

A message blinked on your HUD, Karelia gave you orders to meet her and the rest of the team in the hangar were you and them would descend and make planetfall. There were still a couple of hours until the meeting hour. What should you do?

Each action takes one hour.
>Talk with your daughter Alaria and explain to her that you have to leave her for some time and that you don’t know for how long it will be.
>Go to the armory and re-equip yourself.
>Go to the workshop and upgrade your equipment.
>Go to the workshop and craft some weapon.
>Go to the workshop and reorder your dendrites (also get the chance to get more wings).
>Write in.

Seconded

I'll back >>40988208
>>
>>40988208
On that note, I vote to switch to the following:
1. Wing
2. Wing
3. Flamer
4. Explorator advanced tool: Lux-caster. Depth scanner, Tracker signal.
5. Psykana advanced tool: Psyker energy reader and analyzer.
6. Plasma Cutter
7. Wing
8. Wing
9. Proxy Drone
10. Claw Dendrite
11. Claw Dendrite
12. Lexmechanicus Advanced tool: Applied Mathematics.

This involves ditching (from before the first two wings):
- Biologis advanced tool: Cutting laser, Different optics, Vital signs analyzer.
- Drill Dendrite
- Cerebrus Advanced tool: Mental illness detector, brain scanner.
- Flamer

I don't feel like we get enough use out of those tools and the drill and flamer are perhaps surplus. The drill is good vrs heavy armour but a plasma cutter should be able to cut through just as well.
>>
>>40988310
Forgot to say, if we want to go full seraph mode then I advocate removing in addition to the changes proposed there the following:
- Psykana advanced tool: Psyker energy reader and analyzer.
- Claw Dendrite
>>
>>40988138
>>40988208
seconding this, and
>Double check the xenopsychic bane and its blueprints to make sure there are no design flaws and every part is properly assembled.

If it doesn't work or malfunction, I don't want to be blamed for it.
>>
>>40988347
Well each action takes one hour to do and since he only has two hours left that action would be left out. Still; I think its a great idea, I will add it. Thank you anon.
>>
>>40988383
You just never know.
Paranoia pays in 40k.

Or just basic caution really. It's just good procedure to run a final checkup on the finished product before testing.
>>
Do you guys want four wings or six? What option should I take?
>>
>>40988525
I'm inclined to vote for six to demonstrate that we are top of the pecking order and to be all holy looking for Liwet.

Geddit? Pecking order? Wings? Eheheheh

>Talk with your daughter Alaria and explain to her that you have to leave her for some time and that you don’t know for how long it will be.

You are a techpriest, but also a father. You had to learn the hard way what kind of result neglect and abandonment had on her. First things first; you head into your room and send her a message and a permit to leave her classes earlier than usual. She came back after some ten minutes that felt like hours, you loved her in a fatherly way, it was a sensation that you completely were unaware of and couldn't explain yet it was now part of your everyday life. Leaving her behind felt pretty heartbreaking...

"Greet...Hello there dear."

"Hi Daddy...is there something wrong? My classmates thought I got in trouble."

"No, no. Come, sit next to me."

You sluggishly walked towards the bed and sat on the edge, she somewhat worried followed you closely and sat next to you.

"I...D-dad" You said stuttering. It was the first time you called yourself Dad and that word felt stuck into your throat. "Dad has to work now, I will leave the ship for some time."

Her eyes started to water and she hugged you closely. She had lost her biological parents on a mission and was pretty scared of losing you too, the idea of you leaving her side to venture into dangerous missions completely terrified her.

You were a man of science, supposed to have an answer to every question and a solution to every problem and yet...you felt powerless, all you could do right now was hug her back and that barely helped you two at all.
>>
>>40988915
She sobbed silently for about forty minutes, when the digital clock on your HUD marked that an hour had passed you forcefully broke the hug, she immediately used the sleeve of her robe to clean the tears and mucus that formed on her eyes and nose and then hid herself with the hood.

"Take care, be a good friend with Mellizune and continue studying. Dad loves you."

"And I love you back..." She said in an almost inaudible whisper.

>Go to the workshop and reorder your dendrites (also get the chance to get more wings).

You felt incredibly frustrated, your soul asked you to cry and scream, to kick and punch but you simply couldn't. Your body was incapable of crying anymore and no matter how much you screamed it didn't felt relieving, about the rage that gave you destruction urges you had to painfully repress them, you were inside a spaceship and hurting it was a sacrilege.

With your arms shaking in pure undiluted grievance you advanced towards the Workshop were you had learned and created so many things. Maybe being surrounded by machines and people with your own mindset might relax you.

The closer you got to the areas controlled by the local Mechanicus the more common the sight of winged persons was. It was an inspiring sight, the regular folk found it inspiring and made them fear the techpriest less and the own techpriests loved the many possibilities that flight granted them.

First of all you looked at the life pod that still had the gaunt and suffering Kroot inside of it and checked that there was no problem with it. Then you headed into the operation wing.
>>
>>40988935
Once you were in the bionic operation rooms you saw a female Skitarius with her top naked and having four wings installed. Maybe you could add some more too, the couple that you have already installed grant you flight but you are a heavy person, maybe some more would grant you more speed and stability, besides with only two if only one of them gets damaged enough there won’t be anything able to save you from the fall.

You spent a couple of minutes restructuring your bionic order and then proceeded to install them on your back. Dendrites were one of the most popular bionic for several reasons, they were incredibly versatile and their installation was so easy and safe that people could even perform some duties while they had a dendrite installed on their back.

At the end, the order of your new dendrites went as it follows:

1. Wing
2. Wing
3. Wing
4. Explorator advanced tool: Lux-caster. Depth scanner, Tracker signal.
5. Flamer
6. Plasma Cutter
7. Wing
8. Wing
9. Wing
10. Proxy Drone
11. Claw Dendrite
12. Lexmechanicus Advanced tool: Applied Mathematics.
>>
>>40988952

It was an easy and quick installation. The Wings folded easily on top of each, giving you a shell looking back that could extend to a great length. In theory with those wings and the concentrated power of their turbines you could reach one third of the speed of sound ( about 397 kmh // 247 mph)
With that completed you hurriedly headed into the hangar to meet Juliannus, Karelia and Nala. The Space Marine was proudly wearing his armor, he had some new purity seals on it, on his arms there was the weapon you masterly crafted for him, Karelia was wearing her white pearly armor, her warpsteel mask and her hair uncovered, Nala was simply wearing her old armor, you were pretty sure it was the same one she wore back in the Kroot hunt, and by how it reeked she didn't changed herself nor cleaned it much during those three years.

Since there was some free space along the Aquila Lander the seats weren't numbered. Where would you sit during the descend?

>With the pilot, learn a little bit more about the planet and a lot about piloting aircraft.

>With the pilot, learn a little bit more about the planet and a lot about piloting aircraft.

You walked towards the pilot and folded your wings into the most compressed and compact way that you could, it still felt kind of uncomfortable to lean and rest on the seat thought. You would only need to get used to it you thought to yourself.

"Greetings, honourable pilot."

He...or she simply looked at you, nodded and used her radio to beep. It was hard to discern its gender, it wore a saggy flight suit and had its entire head covered in a sturdy looking helmet that had several cables connected to the panels and monitors that surrounded you now.

"Can you teach me about the planet we are going to descend into and what steps do you have to take to make a safe planet fall."

++We are heading into a nameless planet. It is designated as XL-788 by the Administratum. According to the report it is very humid and has two monsoon seasons. We are not into one of those seasons so descend and flight should be easy and steady.++ It said across its vox caster.

"How interesting, do you know anything else about it?"

++Negative sire. My report only indicated details for an optimal flight. I don't have any data about its culture, demography or any other statistics of similar nature.++

"I see, what can you tell me about the ship you are piloting?"
>>
>>40989634

++Personally I couldn't ask for anything better, at first I was sceptic about techpriests, specially at first when I had to take some courses for optimal maintaining it.++
++After years I have ended understanding you and all that machine spirit belief. This ship has been next to me during hard and easy times, it has saved my life more times than I could count. Not going to lie, I truly believe this is way more than a ship. Hell, I am so close with it that I would feel devastated if it was damaged beyond my abilities. I'm glad I have you in there, you will be able to take care of it way better than I am.++

It was good to see someone so close to the machinery it worked with. To most Imperial citizens the concept of machine spirits sounded like a joke, luckily there were a few ones that were able to see the miracles of the Omnissiah or grew a tight bond after years. Some of those people even ended turning into techpriests.

During the descend the pilot kind of taught you the basics of piloting it and aerial maneuvers, sadly it wasn't able to perform any of those maneuver and pirouettes as it was fulfilling a mission. You were lucky thought, you had learned a lot and the flight turned into something amusing and interesting.

Once the ship was closer to the pyramidal structure you were able to see that it was placed on a lake and that from its base a lot of whirlpools and great waves formed, a little bit higher there were many tubes that spew steam and on top of the structure there was a great cycling light that illuminated like a massive lighthouse.
>>
>>40989654
The Aquila avoided those steam pipes and entered into a hatch. Several muscular and rough looking serfs that wore plain looking vests with little to no accessories appeared and helped us descending and landing. After we were out of the ship a tall man wearing a dark power armor and several strange details made its appearance. Among its bizarre decorations there was a top hat with several melting candles on top, an alien and reptile looking skull that acted as a shoulder pad and some strange and round red jewels that looked kind of similar to you.

"Welcome to Watch Station Nechorantus. I, Inquisitor Dhroznak am more than humble of receiving such fine guest."

He looked at you and smiled with a devilish grin.

"We have many things to do; Juliannus I have been informed of your situation, I will everything at my hand to help such mighty warrior as you, Karelia, thanks for your visit, your help is invaluable, and you...I have a proposition for you that you won't be able to reject. Well, well, what should we start with?"

>Make Juliannus meet the Deatwatch and join as a blackguard.
>Make Karelia meet with the Inquisitor and let them do their business.
>See what the Inquisitor wants to offer you.

"Juliannus is the one that has been waiting the longest, he should be the one that has more priority." You shyly add.

Dhroznak tilts his head and then nods in approbation. He is taken towards the upper levels were the serfs have limited access and is where the Deathwatch trains, lives and operates. You feel happy for him, he will now part into a journey where only death will be the end but still it is the best he could achieve right now.

As he leaves Karelia starts talking with him privately, the serfs keep an eye on the Ogryn so she doesn't makes anything reckless and meanwhile you check on the pod that you had crafted. It still shows the neural patters and the strange and mysterious synapse gates. The Kroot is on a lamentable state, if it weren't for the life support it would quickly wither away and die.

You still didn't knew the function of most cables, machinery parts and psychic crystals of the pod yet. Sadly there were some things that were still out of your reach...

"Well." Said Karelia. "Everything is sorted, we will head into hour respective habitaculums now and start tomorrow with the hard work. I have some things that I still have to discuss with him. Ask a serf to take you to a room when you are ready."

The squat and weak serf takes you into an elevator. There is a servitor connected to one of the walls and apparently asleep.

"GO UP, LIGHT HOUSE LEVEL." The old serf says, even if he raises his voice it is pale in comparison with your growly and deep natural tone.

The servitor goes awake and raises his arms, then the elevator starts to ascend. You are pretty excited, you never were an outgoing person and being next to regular humans made you feel even more introvert...still, this was a good ending for you, if a bit sour.

The elevator ascended for almost twenty minutes until it went and reached the top of the pyramid. When the doors opened the serf was blinded by the intense light that lied on the core of the room, you smirked as those lights didn't affected you at all. Without saying goodbye nor thanks you left the elevator and advanced towards the imposing watch captain. It was really refreshing finally being next to another Astartes.

"WHO GOES IN?" He asks, having noticed your presence even before the elevator doors opened. He had the light behind him, you could only see his silhouette and few more details.

"IT IS I, JULIANNUS DOMUSALBA, TACTICAL MARINE OF THE NOW EXTINGUISHED HERALDS OF VENGEANCE CHAPTER."

"HOW CAN IT BE EXTINGUISHED IF YOU ARE STILL ALIVE, DON'T YOU COUNT YOURSELF AS ONE OF THEM MAYBE?"

"WORRY NOT MIGHTY WARRIOR, FOR I CARRY THE BURDEN OF ALL MY DEAD BATTLE BROTHERS, ITS COLORS AND HERALDRY ARE EXTINGUISHED, THEIR SPIRIT AND RAGE AGAINST ANYTHING IMPURE AND ALIEN IS NOT."

"AND WHAT WAS THE REASON FOR ITS DOOM, WAS IT THE ARCHENEMY MAYBE? THE ALIEN FOE MAYHAPS? OR THE HERESY SEED THAT FORMED IN THEIR MINDS AND ATTACKED FROM INSIDE?"
>>
>>40990613

"IT WAS THE ALIEN FOE SIRE, THE DEVOURING TYRANIDS. I CANNOT FORGIVE THOSE MINDLESS BEASTS WHAT THEY DID. I AM UNLUCKY THEIR UNDEVELOPED BRAINS CANNOT TRULY COMPREHEND THE CONCEPT OF VENGEANCE, ONLY KILLING EACH AND ALL OF THEM WILL BE A GOOD WAY TO COMPENSATE ME FOR MY FAILURE."

There was a short silence.

"I, ANAPHAEL TERMINA, DO CARE NOT FOR WHAT YOU DID OR DID NOT, I ONLY REQUIRE YOUR HATRED TOWARDS THE XENO FOE. THE EMPEROR HAS SHINNED OVER YOU JULIANNUS, FOR WE HAVE BEEN PLANNING A MISSION INVOLVING THE TYRANID MENACE FOR SOME MONTHS ALREADY. JOIN THE KILL TEAM AND IF YOU SURVIVE AND PROVE YOURSELF WORTHY YOU WILL BE ACCEPTED AS A MEMBER."

You stood on your knee and thanked him over and over for the opportunity.

>Timeskip ( A few days ) directly towards the mission.
A few days later you were already donning your black repainted armor and next to your battle brothers. You were heading into a hangar to enter a ship were your mission would be briefed. Next to you there were other five marines:

>Captain Ramiel Tigullis
-Blood Angel
-Melee specialist
-Relic Sword
-Bolt Pistol
-Krak grenades

>Arjaten Battleblade
-Space Wolf
-Heavy Weapon Specialist
-Heavy Bolter
-Plasma Pistol
-Melta Charge

>Shen'rath Amuil
-Novamarine
-Librarian
-Force Weapon
-Bolt Pistol
-Frag Grenades

>Diomis Turiel
-Raptors
-Apothecary
-Chainsword
-Bolt Pistol

>Constatio
-Storm Giant
-Techmarine
-Bolter
-Omnissian Power Axe (Astartes Pattern)
-Plasma Bomb

>Juliannus Domusalba
-Blackshield
-Combi-Bolter
-Combat Knife
-Frag Grenades

The ship you were at ascended quickly and shortly after entered into the void, leaving all the ties with your past behind. After a quick warp jump we saw some Tyranid fleet in front of us.

*Beep!* "Stealth Mode activated. Approaching Tyranid Narwhal Bio-ship. ETA minus fifteen minutes. * Static * Remember our mission: Breach, Infiltrate, Find the Zoanthrope and safely enslave it. Ave Imperator." *Beep*

You had been given a quick report beforehand. For some reason the Inquisitor needed a Zoanthrope alive for his project. The silent Dark Hunter you were travelling in was also fitted with a stealth sensor that would make it nearly invisible to the Narwhal's senses. The techmarine's plasma bomb was a last resort effort to cause as much damage as possible in case the mission goes critically bad.

Since it was your first mission people didn't trusted you, besides being a black shield was kind of a bad omen.

>Stick to one of them ( Write who )
>Be silent and try not to stand out, they are way more veterans than you after all

Calling it now, there is absolutely no way this Inquisitor isn't attempting something extraordinarily heretical and/or daemonic. I mean hell, fucking with psyker creatures like this is exactly how you get warp perils. I suspect hes attempting to weaponize them, which would be terrifying.

Fair enough. So Julianus get any curious looks at his weapon? Constatio have anything to say?
>>
>>40991716
Alright, thanks for running.
A third of the speed of sound? Holy fuck. Will we have to get an implant or something to get our reflexes up to speed? Because I don't think even elder have reflexes that good.
>>
>>40991843
Constatio has a nerdboner with the weapon. It's pretty flashy after all. The rest mostly wonder its origins and make all kind of backstories like it being an stolen relic and thats why he is a blackshield or whatever, there are some other marines that directly don't give a crap.

About the weapon, today I tried to draw it and the thing is fucking impossible to be handled, it has an underslung plasma and a chainsword bayonet. For real, I have some designs drawn and I cannot find a place were he could place his second hand.
>>
>>40991876
Well, there aint much you can crash into while being airborne, besides that's the top speed. Unless he's in an extreme hurry he will fly way slower.
>>
>>40991911
Thanks for running, i`m deeply worried about his proposition...

I was thinking, when the time comes I don`t think heracor will still want revenge. Maybe he will take Liwet and Alaria and go on some space adventures. He doesn`t even mentions the magus anymore, maybe he even forgot why he ran away on the first place
>>
>>40991911
Is there an Astropath on this planet? We probably got space mail.
>>
>>40992041
Honestly, when I started the Quest those two looked like nigh invincible bosses to me. So far I think he has surpassed both Magus in strength and power terms.

I have an ending already planned, you guys might fuck shit up and not reach it so don't think I'm railroading, those two Magus would make an appearance on that ending as mini bosses or something.

can we have a face again? it seems that heracor is ressenting his lack of expression lately
>>
>>40992766
I like to think that in such spartan culture like the Empire of the 41th Millenium the facial reconstruction is just limited to operate people who have suffered battle scars or explosions and rich fuckers who want to look young forever kind of like in pic related.

We are a warrior that choose to remove his own face. There isn't any tech that can give us our face back. Best we can do is get some kind of porcelain mask.
>>
>>40993034

Nah, let it go then, porcelan mask would have the same limitations to convey fellings as our current get up. He just semed frustrated to not be able to cry or be angry.

The bayonet could mount sideways, that's not an uncommon method. Whether it would be vertical and just offplaced to the side of the body or horizontal and in line with the muzzle break is another question.
>>
>>40993665

maybe not something visual, we could just get a better vox caster that can recognize diferent tones and emotions on the voice and not just the same drone. That would be a very large improvement.
