As much as you wanted to teach these assholes a lesson in airborne chivalry, you knew that you had a greater duty to see to it that Amy got back to base safely. You turn around hit afterburner, following in Amy's wake. The Dahl planes attempt to follow up, but you see them immediately break as the Atlas SAMs begin painting them for targeting. Obviously they were looking for easy kills, and decided to cut their losses when that didn't seem to be the case.

Just the thought of Amy being an "easy kill" just made your mind smolder. However, the danger was past and you finally exhaled.

"Valk! Valk! Are you okay?" You hear as you see the three operational Butterflies approaching.

"Yeah, I am." You say. "What are you doing here?"

"Loki told us you were in trouble so we came to help!" Thunder exclaims.

Loki actually going out of his way to do something HELPFUL? Well, there's a first for everything, you guess.

"I-It looks like we're too late though..." Lightning sighs.

"Your engine looks damaged." Dawn observes. "Maybe you should get it checked."

"Whatever you do, you better hurry." Loki grunts. "Looks like those Dahl planes are joining in on the fight. It's a goddamn mess out there!"

"The others?" You ask worriedly.

"Fine for now, but the Gyges is taking a beating." Loki warns. "Looks like Dahl doesn't want anybody getting away with it."

"I'm going to land and see if I can get my bird patched up." You say. "Let Smokey know to get his crew ready."

"They're already deployed, along with fire and rescue crews." Loki says.

Soon enough, the Pillar comes into view as the Butterflies guide you back. Amy's Warthog is still struggling to get there and she's been worryingly quiet so far, and every time you try to ask her something she just gives back nonverbal grunts.

Despite your protests, control requests that you land first, since if Amy tried it and crashed, she'd risk blocking the entire runway. Leveling out your plane with a damaged engine is a bit tricky, but you manage to pull it off, your wheels landing solidly on the tarmac. You immediately taxi over to the side, where Smokey and his crew quickly begin clambering all over the plane to check for faults.

However, you eyes were glued to Amy's approach. With guidance from the control tower and the Butterflies, Amy's Warthog slowly lines up with the runway and begins to descend. Unfortunately, her performance was still rather wobbly and you feared the worst. You breathe a sigh of relief as the landing gear goes down, only to freeze again when Amy's plane tilts dangerously to the side, nearly dragging the wingtip across the tarmac before the whole plane evens out at literally the last second. The moment the Warthog rolls to a stop it's immediately swarmed by emergency crews. Firefighters spray the whole plane down in fire retardant foam, while the EMTs pull Amy's limp body out of the cockpit. You so desperately want to go see her, but you have other things to worry about.

"If you give us a few minutes, we can do an emergency swap on your engines." Smokey grunts. "Just pop out the damaged one and slide the new one in. Simple as that."

"Sure thing." Smokey nods and turns to his crew. "Hey guys! Get the Falcon out here!"

You watch as Smokey's crew dashes to the back of the hangar, yanking the protective tarp covering your old Falcon off. You smile briefly as you look on. It had been a long time since you had seen your Falcon, actually flying it even moreso. Memories immediately flood back as you settle back into the cockpit. You had a lot of good times in this plane. However, you had to remind yourself that on paper, your Falcon had taken a huge hit in performance in comparison to your upgraded Eagle. You push that thought to the side. As long as it flew and could fire a missile, you didn't care.

"She's already fueled and ready to go!" Smokey yells as he bangs on the side of the Falcon to show that it's in good condition. "Figured something like this might happen!"

"Thanks, Smokey." You grin as you close the canopy.

"Hey, knock the shit outt them, for us and Amy!" Smokey adds.

You just nod and give him the thumbs up as you taxi out to the runway. At this point, the damage crews had already managed to two the Warthog out of the way. No sooner than you get takeoff authorization when you hit full throttle to take off.

"Valk! Do you need any help?" Dawn asks, she and the other Butterflies circling lazily over the base.

Your improvised flight speeds back to the battle, and from what you can see, things weren't going well. Even from where you were, you could see numerous explosions and contrails focused around the Gyges.

"Loki, what are we looking at here?" You ask.

"Three squadrons of Dahl planes entered the battle, and its' turned into a massive free for all." Loki explains. "However, it looks to be that they're trying to shoot down the Gyges."

Sure enough, you can see gouts of smoke and fire trailing from dozens of breaches in the Gyges' hull, and you could see more than a few engines have gone cold.

"Jager, you still alive?" You ask.

"Barely." Jager grunts. "We've manged to seize control of the ship, but these fucking Dahl assholes dropped out of nowhere and they're mauling us pretty bad! Wolf and your squad have been doing their best but there's just way too many of them!"

As if to emphasize his point, a pair of F-4 Phatnoms swoop in behind the Gyges, launchign missiles at its vulnerable engines. Explosions ripple across the rear of the airship as another engine sputters out.
