There's a sound not unlike a saw going through wood, and the slightest crunch or gravel accompanying it.
This is because you made what is essentially a ssaw from stone and magic, and are currently sending it clawing its way through a crappily built lodge type structure.

The doorway more than doubles in size, stone reinforcing each side, plates of rock sliding, melting into place. The end result is a perfect portal; into-

Well, into a shoddily constructed oversized log cabin, but it's the thought that counts. And your ability to get inside.

"Can you do anything about the door, then?"
You shrug.
"WOuld you like stone or metal?"

The man turns his face back to the open doorway, shoulders dropping as he sighs.

"Well, it is still warm. I'll wait for the wood."
"Mm. Is there a board?"
"Eh?"
"Jobs, yes? Even if I am in town for a day."
"You got a one track mind, miss."

You frown.
"I think the problem is that there is too many tracks."
"What?"
"And sometimes it jumps from track to track and then I don't know what I'm thinking about, yes."
"I- What?"
"Nevermind."

There is, in fact a board. It's a little shabby, much like the rest of the building, and it's a little empty, exactly like the rest of the building.
But there are a few lonely bits of paper strung, waving gently in the breeze making it's presence known through the hole you just carved into the guild.

Your eyes skim the papers even as you speak, glancing from the board to a hallway with a rather sudden end.
"There isn't anything behind there, is there?"
"Behind where?"
"The hall."
"The backyard."
"I'll put another door, then."
"Suit yourself."

Stone goes to work again as you gently unfold some of the older requests, flattening the paper against the wall.
It seems like the town really didn't need adventurers. Aside from its sudden gryphon infestation, anyway. The board's feew contents are rather... mundane. Especially for the guild.

There's a request for common flowers. A request from the smith for help- that one looks good. A request for 'My missing pantaloons'- With a note about the requester being a drunk. There's a request to train the town guard, with the word 'Hopeless' underlined seventeen times.

The underlines are longer than the request.

"Don't bother with the pants one. He never had 'em to begin with."
"Thank you for the warning, yes."
"Mm. If you're an adventurer, any chance you're carrying new orders for me?"

You shake your head.
"Sorry. I'm from the forest, yes? It is the first time I have left."
"Ah. Too much to hope for, anyway."

The silence that follows says all you need to know.
That's a bit depressing, really.

>Workouts!
>Adventure chatter.
>A... job? Maybe?
>Other (?)

>Sorry about this. My router is not cooperating, in the least.
>On the other hand, I've got a bit more free time, so... Part 2.
>>
>>40808578
it's fine. I'm just taking a bit of extra time to decide whether I want to give pointers to 17X HOPELESS the guard.

>A... job? Maybe?
Let's go look at hopeless X17, give up, then help the smith. Then ditch out early because we only have one day.

It's a plan!
>>
>>40808553
>SMITH JOB YES!
>>
>>40808553
>>A... job? Maybe?
The smithy, then training the guard with a friends.
>>
>>40808553
>A... job? Maybe?
TRAIN THEM MUAHHAHAHAHHAA!
>>
>>40808553
>>A... job? Maybe?
Smithing. We need the training. It'd be a waste to waste us being a natural moving forge. We could pick up some tools so that we can help out the caravan in other ways than looking pretty and hunting gryphons.
>>
>>40808553
>>A... job? Maybe?
>>
>>40808553
>>A... job? Maybe?
Training! We can use it as an excuse to throw ezzy against larger opponents also!
>>
>>40808553
>>Adventure chatter.
>>A... job? Maybe?
Let's talk about if there are any interesting dungeons in this area 'fore we head over to the smith.
>>
>>40808553
>A... job? Maybe?
Let's talk to that smith!
>>
>>40808553
>A... job? Maybe?
>request from the smith for help

If we weren't so powerful I'd be in favour of helping the guard. Though I suppose it could provide addition motivation for them to get good if they found out just how powerful spiders could be.
>>
A bit of smithing, then?

Writing!
>>
Smithing steel, smithing men. Same thing! Do it all!
>>
>>40808864

Not sure how long I can wait on the next update, unfortunately. Enjoy the rest of your evening.
>>
Stop being on page five. Go back to a lower numbered page. Good quest. Good.
>>
>>40809596
if we're going to bump, we might as well talk some.

Does nin eat clothes?
Did she eat clothes when she was little?
Moth and all that.
>>
>>40809625
...well now this is in my head.

Thank you, anon. The image of tiny little Nin eating a shirt is adorable.

...I imagine she was very, very fluffy.

Mildly serious note, probably not. Only a specific kind of moth does that, I believe. Miller moths.
>>
>>40809625
>>40809675
Heh. Now I'm imagining Nin nibbling on Lyra's shirt in her sleep.
>>
>>40809694
or her undergarments
>>
You pry free the request for smithing help- You aren't a master by any means, but you can help in a forge easily enough.
And in the meantime, you keep the conversation moving.
Away from the depressing topics, hopefully.

"Is the town really that... quiet? I thought that something this size would have, well, things to do, yes?"
"Eh. It's just boring, miss. There's stuff to do, but it's not adventurer stuff."
"More gardens, less monsters?"
"You've got the gist of it, yeah."

"And the guard?"
"Don't remind me."
"Are they really that bad?"
"Guards are usually adventurers. Especially in towns like these, right?"
"Really?"

He shrugs, heading back to the bar occupying the corner, dropping back into a chair.
"Mostly. At least, people'd get adventurers to run things."
"And these guards are...?"
"Mayor's son. Friends. Half of them are fat, th'rest are lazy."
"Ah."

"Yup. No point training people who aren't interested in ever doing a day's work. I tried, right? You have to try. They did two laps. Two. And that was it. Asked when they'd get weapons."
"I think I will skip that job."
"Good idea. Taking the fore work?"
"Yes. I did some in Oakring. Mikhael was a good teacher."

"Damn good smith. Good luck, Miss."
"You too, thank you."

You wander back out to the streets, leaving behind a freshly opened guild.
The Smithy, at least, is easy to find.

It's simply a matter of following the pillar of smoke, and the sound of a hammer.

Alright. I apologize, but I'll be ending it here tonight- I'm having to divide my time fighting my shitty dsl and writing.

The next thread might be friday if I have time. Failing that, late next week. Holiday is coming up, and I'll be working unfortunately.

As usual, comments, questions and all that answered in thread.
>>
>>40809930

You know, Lyra could probably make an obstacle course easy enough, and with future knowledge build a pulley system that could serve as conventional gym equipment. That could help the guy.

>>40809954
Don't archive this one, if you would. Just save the posts for your opening on the next thread.
>>
Thanks for the two runs tonight REQM!...and now time to sleep!
>>
>>40809954
Better luck next time. Thanks for the game.
>>
>>40809954
Thanks for running. Try not to murder any lizards.
>>
>>40809954
aw, that's fine.
Catch you next time. Whoever archives these has a bit of a chore tonight.

HOW DO SPIDER TEETH WORK, DO WE NEED TO BRUSH?

DOES NIN EAT SHIRTS?

DOES JIN LIKE NUTS, SEEDS, AND CRACKERS?
>>
>>40809968
Too late on the archiving, Im afraid.

>>40809999
>>40810037
>>40810077
Thanks for playing!
And no promises.

>>40810080
Maybe? I'll ive it some thought.
Maybe she just gargles with her own venom.

Moth children sometimes eat cloth. It's something Nin is embarrassed by.

Jin is an owl, and much prefers to hunt things.
>>
>>40810164
What would Nin have done if we'd asked her to help with the silk mittens?
>>
>>40810164
>>40810184
How do we embarrass her with cloth eating, more like it.
also polite sages from here on out as thread is done.
>>
>>40810164
Thanks for running!
>>
>>40810164
>Moth children sometimes eat cloth. It's something Nin is embarrassed by.
Are they capable of eating silk or is it restricted more to wool?
>>
>>40810240
Easy.

We wrap her meals in spider silk. Make her chew through it.
>>
>>40810184
>>40810335
>>40810384
Wool. Silk is edible, but difficult, and they don't care for the taste.

>>40810271
Thanks for playing!
