In the grim darkness of the 41st millennium there is only war. Imperium of Man, once strong and proud, now is slowly crumbling, whole regions of space are lost to the horrors that lurk in the darkness of the void. Sector Deus is just one of the thousands of Imperial provinces that form the front line in the war to defend Humanity itself. Corruption from within and aggression from without threaten it. But the Emperor sends us hope. High Lords of Terra commissioned a Chapter of Adeptus Astartes, finest warriors Humanity has ever seen, to defend this region of space. They are the last line of defence that hold Age of Ruin at bay. They are the Ghosts of Retribution and this is their tale.

Pieces of what was once a technological masterpiece now lay in front of the Eldar. Ixadiel lifts his hands above the pieces of ruined cogitator and you can feel power of warp humming in the air. The process of delving into the depths of the warp to recover memories and feelings associated with the wrecked machine is long and arduous, however Ixadiel doesn't seem to be afraid. Drop by drop he worked, squeezing out information from the shards of the destroyed artifact. Chapter Master waited for an hour by his side, waiting for him to finish, but then even he got impatient and left to deal with the other matters. It took full 8 hours before Renard knocked on the doors of Chapter Master's cell to inform him that Eldar has finished his task. When the marines returned to the room where seer was performing his magic, they found xeno sitting in by the wall, he was absolutely exhausted.
>Well, warrior-king, I have done as thou asked. This device was a gift from the kings of those who rule the stars beyond what you humans call Imperium. This piece of machinery was born on the world of Neveron and it encodes messages in ways that are understandable only to those who have proper means to decipher them. There were a few different people who have been receiving them, however there's only one who was sending them out. She is a human female, she is still alive, and I sense her being to be currently on the planet known to you as Tachion Primaris.
>>
>>40764286
Diedara, is that her name?
And the ones receiving, were you able to glean their names?

>They call her Deidara and she bears the family name of the Bear. I sense that she had no hate to those she was making deals with, however no love either. They spoke of peace for a century in exchange for worlds bordering the outlines of the Sector. They spoke of common enemies, raging green horde, overzealous warrior mutants, fanatical priests and twisted servants of Chaos. They spoke about Deidara's husband, a brute who is strong, but unable to think ahead. They spoke about threats they faced and what could be done to preserve status quo. That's is all I can read currently.
Ixadiel looks you in the eye.
>So, I have completed what you asked of me. Shall you keep your word now?
>>
>>40764357
Is there any way you can codify these revelation in a way that can be used as proof? Recordings of the messages in Deidara's voice?
>>
>>40764422
I dubt that confesson, or the "professional opinion" of an eldar would be much use at Imperial Court or bbefore the High Lords.
The only possibility is to go to Neveron, and find the receiving machine.
Only that is solid enough

Ixadiel thinks for a moment.
>Yes, that is possible, however only other gifted ones will be able to read my experiences.
He starts making strange gestures with his hands and a thin strand of white matter appears between his fingers. You think you might have heard somewhere of this ritual... His hands continue to weave something out of the thin air and a small piece of ivory-looking substance starts to materialise out of thin air.
>We call it wraithbone. It's a psycho-active material, essentially a solidified warp energy. Take this amulet, it holds my readings from this ruined machine. Any psyker will be able to read them as easily as a book...

For clarification, last thread the eledar asked for Chaper Master's digital shield ring, saying that he is fated to loose it one way or the other, so he might as well give it to him
There have been a suggestion that we shoud trade the ring for the location of the Wrath of Corax, a long lost chapter relic weapon.
How do we decide about that?

Very well. You have kept your end of the deal so you shall be released.
I know I can't force you to believe me but I tell no lie when I say we DID know you were on that ship. And whilst I admit your rescue was not our highest priority it was a consideration, and why my unit headed straight for you. It might be hard to understand but we're not all as aloof as you.
So how do we go about setting you free?

>>40764835
I'm personally against giving up the ring for what could be a vague and ultimately unhelpful answer.
>>
>>40764937
I'd suggest to peer into the future in that matter.
It might be imprtant. It sounds like one of those things that looks small, but might have grave consequences if ignored.
>>
>>40764937
>>40764835
It's up to you whether you want to trade digi-ring for the Wrath of Corax. Eldar claims he would have information that could help you retrieve it.

Ixadiel smiles:
>Thank you, I see Fates smile once more upon me. I would like to ask you to bring me to a world located in this sector of space [he hands you over the coordinates]. There is a relatively safe world there, from where I will be able to return home.

Proteus, your cyber-eagle AI, immediatelly chatters to you in code:
>Xeno gave you coordinates to Doria IV in Subsector Meridian, it's listed as an Imperial planet in the database that was made accessible to me. I also see that some passing Rogue Traders centuries ago made notes of possible presence of a Webway gate there. Could it be that it's what the xeno is after?
>>
some stuff I've been trying to post for a while now...

First a conversion between a human guard, skargan made for me and a certain imprisoned priest, somewhere in the Ghosts realm:

Sreynar is standing near the cell door more uncertain then usual, looking at the prisoner longer and with a more curious expression then usual. He walks around in small circles, and is slowly chewing a bit on his lip. After what seems like eons, he finally decided to look directly at the prisoner and speaks, slowly and with a voice that betrays, that he is unsure whether talking is a good idea at all, but as he talks, he gets more enthusiastic and speaks rather hastily, much of his speech is obviously thought before.
"Milord, apologies for talking to you, I overheard the discussion between you and the Marines. I did not know, who you are before, and started talking to some people. You are with the group that thinks all marines are abominations in the eye of the emperor? Why do you think that? I have seen them in action and in inaction. They fight to protect the Imperium, they bleed and they die to protect you and me.

I know they are different in their abilities and their way of thinking and the way they treat humans sometimes shows that. They also tend to forget how we feel and how frail we are, mentally and physically, which is probably why they left you here for so long. But I have spoken with seasoned veterans of the guard as well, they have similar problems understanding civilians.
>>
>>40765299
Still against trading the ring. Drop Ixadiel off on Doria IV, after One last thing.
>You said you were from Il-Kaithe, but do you know of Wuxide craftworld? Can you provide me with some method of communication with them? The empire that rules from Neveron is a common enemy of both of us.
>>
>>40765323
>>40765323 (You)
-continued-

What do you think about that?" Towards the end of that speech he seemed rather upset, that somebody accused the Space Marines of being abominations, but seems to remember that Saragon has not even told him his personal belief, but he continues:

"Furthermore you are of the the house Ursus they say. Why have you chosen to become a priest? Do you know our ChapterLord bowed to Lord Ursus, so that he would send food to people. Reglular humans that" his tone changes to a sarcastic voice for the title "his honorable lordship would have left starving on a planet, simply because he could pressure our Chapter Master into this." With that spoken, he seemes out of breath and anger as well.To the observant spectator, it is clear that he fears the response to the way he addressed Lord Ursus, but real anger to the way the Lord ignored his subjects is showing through.

--------------------------
and a report to the admiral, in which the GoR try to express their gratitude to the fine navy squadron that helped them wreck a chaos cruiser:

To Admiral Hagen

-preliminary report-
-full report as soon as the damage has been accessed-
The Ghosts of retribution habe successfully engaged in intercwepting the vessel oft the ruinous powers. It was in the process process of devastating imperial holdings. One cruiser has been successfully destroyed, the other fled. Please match recent sightings of vessels, with the signatures oft these two vessels attached to this document as I fear, this was not the last dealing wie have with this warband.
Furthermore I would linke to thank you personally for sending such a dedicated and efficient squadron to our aid. Their performance is a light in these dark times.

Adriel and her crew are outcasts, no? We are strangers ot the craftworld itself, and even if they ackowledged us, they wouldn't know where the Seekers are.
>>
>>40765527
When she left she said she was going back to the craftworld. Presumably it was self-imposed exile.
>>
>>40765552
Right, and she never gave us "her number", are we sure she wants to see us again and would be willing/capable to help? What are we even trying to achive with her involvement now?
>>
>>40764825
I think Proteus has a fragment of the recording. Ask him to cross reference the voice with either Deidara or anyone from the Triarchy he has on file. Never hurts to have confirmation.
>>
>>40765631
If they're willing to help with the Styrian Triarchy/Ursus thing (which, true, we don't know if they are) it'd be significantly easier for them to get information from triarchy space than us, stuff like the receivers of the messages etc. which provide more intel on what they've conspired together.
>>
>>40765746
True, that might work. I think thins are in our favor, considering it was Adriel herself asked us to withraw our support from the civil war, so the Triarchy won't know we are onto them
>>
>>40765834
Indeed, might also be first step on a road to getting their help in an eventual crusade to destroy the triarchy.
>>
>>40765870
Yes, but we'll need to Help out Admiral Haegen for that, and perhaps speak, and make peace with Kest and the Ecclisiarchy, Nestorum, the Kriegers, and the Imperial fists are another matter,
But the main thing that I think we have to decide upon, is that what will we do with Ursus?

Do we concentrate on Deidara? Since she seems to be the perp, not Larion.
Do we accuse and try to wipe out the whole Dynasty anyways? since we already made steps to restore the sector leadership to the original owners. Also, being free from Ursus vassalship, might a give us a chance to accept the peace offer from the Ecclisiarchy
>>
>>40766060
Mustering a reclamation crusade would take years, so we don't have to worry about that yet.
As for the Ursus thing, we still have to see what the HLoT think about the whole situation since our marines are still on Terra talking with them about it.
My current thinking is to remove Deidara and Larion as heretics, and install the Belisarian heirs with the blessing of the HLoT and the political pressure of the HLoT to prevent forcible attempts to take power. The rest of the Ursus dynasty either accepts the HLoTs ruling or become criminals by definition.
>>
>>40766156
as I've tried to tell you before, we should gather more allies then just the high lords, regional powers like Admech and the local church, please do not forget that
>>
>>40766245
The AdMech are already our allies, and the local church are a bunch of assholes who tried to kill us and who continually try to kill the only faction in the sector who didn't immediately treat us like shit the moment we arrived, namely the AdMech.
We CANNOT be allies with both whilst the Iron Monks are in power.
>>
>>40766156
Yes, I thought about something like that.
Even if can't get rid of the whole Dynasty, we can still bide our time, and at least reastablish alliance with Templos, which the Belisars will rule

>>40766245
Kest doesn't really like Ursus, if we tell him he is a heretic, and ask his help, he should jump to the opportunity. Remember, the guy is famous about declaring crusades.
>>
>>40766268
The Sector Deus Ecclisiarchy =/= Iron Monks
Iron monks are only an asshole sect of the Ecclisiarchy, we don't need to ally ourselves with them.

Saragon looks up at the guard and smiles:
>We are both but pawns in the games of the powers that be. Our worth and uses might be different, but we are both just pawns. If you will die, either protecting my cell or fighting on the battlefield, nobody apart from your family will mourn you. Same goes for me, I was captured, or maybe killed, but even my own dynasty don't care about my fate, because the peace is more important than a single pawn. As for the Space Marines... I personally hold no grudge against them as individual people, however my order, Iron Monks, do not believe that they can be trusted with the protection of the Imperium after what they've done to the Emperor. I am not a historian, nor a scholar, so I merely follow the wisdom of men far wiser than I will ever be. You know how I ended up in the order? I was the youngest son of my branch of the Ursus dynasty. Too noble to marry someone from the lower ranks, but not close enough to legacy so that I could marry someone respectable. And that's how I ended up here. I am not complaining though. I was angry at first, but then I found the faith in Him. Emperor protects, and I believe that the day will come, when He will take me out of this cell to fight for his cause again.

You soon receive message from Nerial that a soulword arrived from Admiral Tyrel Hagen:
>Dear friend, I am extremely pleased with your success - I have no doubt that your victory today saved many lives. I have asked my attendant to check which squadron helped you out, those men will be rewarded and their officers will receive promotions. >To be honest, milord, I ended up in this sector while looking for a way to Wuxide Craftworld. I know that it's close, however they have formidable webway protection that even other Eldar have trouble penetrating. Whenever I thought I found the right path, it was merely just another false trail... I will share with you this piece of information with you because you proved to be an honourable creature. I was once following a path of the Bonesinger, but once I mastered it, I decided to follow the way of the Speaker. because of this reason I trade in information and deal with matters of etiquette, diplomacy and tradition. A war is brewing near the Eye, She-Who-Thirsts is hungry once more, I was one of the thousand messengers sent to other Craftworlds to summon brave Avengers and furious Banshees to join our cause and help protect the Asuryan's legacy. However I think I have a strong sense of where it might be, another few months, or years, possibly a decade at most and I will reach my destination.

Teleportaria can be bought from Nestorium, however as they are not producing those themselves, it will cost a little bit extra (55W) or you can order some from Mars for 45W, however it will take 2+d2 years for them to arrive.

These are 5-marine/3terminator/10 humans sized Teleportation devices, to be precise, they require some time to recharge between uses and are quite accurate, but depend on the shielding/protection of the location. If you have any other questions about qualities, let me know.

How about you prepare the description of the rituals and things that are about to take place and we'll hold Seance next session?

also I'd advise to have non-rplayed rituals every year(we could resolve them with a single roll) and some sort of more major ritual every decade or so for us to roleplay.

Session over for today. Sorry for sporadic replying

It's okay, I thought that the Seances would be just an extra thing to roll with the yearly rolls, roleplaying it every year would be a waste of time.
I'll prepare the rituals for the next session, and give footnotes about what I am trying to accomlish with them, only as suggestions of course.
I'll put it on the wiki, so others can add to it as well.

Meanwhile, two merchant vessels dock with Iron Phoenix above Mormark, summoning Chapter Master with a Chapter priority code word.
...

An unsmiling woman approaches, followed by a number of aides holding data slates. The woman would best be described as symmetrical, dressed in a neat and professional manner with matching pistols on her hips. It seems even the number of aides she has is symmetrical with an even number on each side of her.

"Greetings Lord Astartes, on behalf of Lord Antonius Edgar Celentis. I am Captain Mariel Lanate, here to deliver cargo on behalf of Lieutenant..." Mariel extends a hand towards an aide, who quickly provides her a dataslate that she quickly reads before handing it back. "Gideon Arcadius. Contents of the cargo are as follows: Three damaged suits of power armor in stasis coffins, one medicae-grade sealed stasis crate, a large amount of recovered metal, a very unique plasma reactor, one mostly-functional vagabond class transport and two Astartes passengers. Please verify the receipt of the cargo immediately so we can confirm successful delivery to Lord Celentis and update our records."

The woman waves a hand and an aide moves forward holding out a pair of data slates containing information on the items being delivered. "Follow me and I shall lead you to your cargo. Then confirm on both the data slates the items have been received and you may keep one. Once that has been dealt with, I shall have you escorted to your brothers we have brought back from Corgus. No confirmation is necessary for their return."
>>
>>40769405
"Thank you very much Captain Lanate. Please lead on."
>>
>>40769405

>Items delivered to Iron Phoenix:
Archeotech Compact Plasma Reactor (Estimated to be capable of powering a high end cruiser, but fitting in a light cruiser. Miracle of the Dark Ages)
Scrap Armor collection - enough to recycle for 10 suits of power armor, and a mix of terminator armor parts to form the core of a new suit.
x2 Severely Damaged Mk IV Power Armors, with faded pre-heresy Raven Guard symbols and the scars of a battle from weapons all too well known to Mormark...
x1 Damaged Ghost of Retribution Power Armor
Medicae-Grade sealed stasis crate, containing 1 GoR geneseed and 3 Geneseed of unknown origin. A missive from Brother Arcadius suggests they may be damaged Raven Guard geneseed, recovered with the armors.
>>
>>40769492
The woman gives the Chapter Master a nod, briskly turning around and leading him deeper into the ship. Unless asked a question, the woman is silent as her aides scramble to keep up with her.

Mariel escorts Chapter Master to a cargo bay containing the numerous smaller cargo that was being delivered and the plasma reactor.

"All items are present within this hold. Once you are satisfied, I will escort you to the passengers." Mariel states, holding out the data-slates.
>>
>>40769680
"It all seems to be in order Captain., thank you"
>>
>>40769711
Mariel takes back a data slate from Chapter Master, passing it back without looking to an aide who had moved in anticipating her actions and scurrying off to carry out unspoken commands.

"If you would follow me. Brother Astrobelus likely will be pleased to be off this vessel and back into the hands of his chapter."

Mariel once again briskly leads the way deeper into the ship for Chapter Master to follow eventually leading to a make-shift medical bay assembled to give the crippled marine the most comfort a ship like this could provide. Mariel waits at the door to the room and looks up to Chapter Master.

"I'll give you some time to speak to your brother in privacy while I arrange the movement of the remains of Brother Markus to your station. If you have time after, I would request the chance to speak to you about further matters."

(If you just want to skip ahead, say so.)
>>
>>40769632
And:
a beat up Vagabond Class Transport.

Captain Lanate leads [Redacted] to the cargo bay, remaining silent and unsmiling until all of the cargo is verified and she has your mark upon her data slate.

"We shall begin unloading, Lord Astartes. This way to your brothers."

Eventually you are led to what looks like a smaller cargo hold converted into quarters for your brothers. A stasis coffin occupies the exact center of the room, a shattered pauldron with the crossed wing and scythe of the Chapter placed upon the crate and spotless. A robed figure stands beside the crate, his posture wrong for the Astartes you know him to be.

"Brothers Astrobelus and Markus, Chapter Master" says Captain Lanate, gesturing her head toward the robed figure and coffin respectively.

You note that Brother Astrobelus has several visible augments along the back of his neck and skull, and his stance is weak. It doesn't take a psyker to know that this Astartes will never be capable of fighting beside his brothers in arms as an equal again.
>>
>>40769845
"You do the chapter proud Astrobelus, you and Markus."

>Pale Raven has delivered CEF's spoils from Corgus!

If brother Luigi would like to deliver a mission summary of the adventures of the Corgus Expeditionary Force in the form of a mission report from Brother Arcadius, he may.

You can also find some summaries here: chapterquest.wikia.com/wiki/Corgus_Expeditionary_Force
Or if people have questions for Captain Lanate, I believe there is a certain player around that would handle that RP.

Pale Raven will depart back for Corgus and the CEF. If players wish to send anything back to the CEF, please figure that out next thread!
