The next morning you woke up at a reasonable time, performed your daily ablutions, and biked downtown to set up a checking account for yourself. It didn't take too long as you had made sure you had all the required documentation ready and soon you had a temporary debit card in your wallet and a debit card coming in the mail in about a week or so. When you got back to your dorm, you logged onto your account online to find the account number and routing number and sent it over your work phone to Susan. With that business out of the way, you realize that you don't really have any other plans for the rest of the day until your afternoon exam. You were going to put off put off checking the other convenience stores until tomorrow, when you were free for the whole day, and maybe you'd also be able to bring Liza along. On that note, you send a text to Liza, asking her if she's free tomorrow.Alice, for now, has already gone to take her morning exam. Since you're alone in your room, you sit at your computer and browse the internet for a while, frequenting your preferred forums for spooky paranormal happenings. But after sitting there for an hour, you realize that ninety percent of the stuff was just anecdotes, ghost stories, and grainy pictures that may or may not have been photoshopped. They didn't hold as much appeal now that you had seen the real thing. You briefly consider taking some pictures on any future missions and trolling some forum-goers, but then you realize that would probably be a security breach.(1/?)______________________Archive: http://suptg.thisisnotatrueending.com/archive.html?searchall=paranormal+investigatorTwitter: https://twitter.com/Rapey_Lemons
Alice looks tired when she comes back, but perks up a little when you mention getting brunch with her. As you walk with her to the cafeteria, you realize that you really haven't sat down and taken the time to get to know your roommate. Right now she's just a friend in your group of friends, despite the fact that you're going to be living with her for the rest of the year. And with the responsibilities you've taken on, becoming better friends with her seems like something you should do in case something happens later in the year. Not to mention that in a month or two you'll need to consider getting a lease for your apartment next school year and that you'll need roommates to share the rent with.So you try to get her to open up more about things other than the possibility of you getting horrifically injured again and her being worried, and you instead ask her for more details about what she does when she's not at school or sitting behind a computer."Um... I guess it would be camping."You look at her. "Camping? You mean like in video games where you—""No," she says, cutting you off and glaring at you for a moment. "I mean like actual camping. You know, um, where you bring some supplies, a tent, and go foraging for food and hunting and trapping animals... to eat..."She trails off as she realizes that you're staring at her. "What?"You shake off your astonishment. "I thought you were a shut-in," you accuse her. "Now I feel silly."Alice shrugs. "Hey, that was your own assumption. I didn't say I was anything like that.""Yeah, but every time I come back from somewhere you're sitting in front of your computer," you explain. "It was a reasonable assumption.""Doing pushups while you were here would just be awkward," she points out.(2/?)
...That's a good point. You quickly change topics before she can ask you whether you've been telling everyone that she's shut-in and you instead ask her what she's planning on doing for winter break. The dorms are being closed over the break, so staying at school isn't an option. It shouldn't be too much of a problem for you though, as you doubt anything would happen when everyone's gone for break."I'll probably go home and spend time with my dad," Alice says. "He's actually the one who taught me all of my, uh survival skills. What were you planning on doing?""I'm not sure yet," you admit. "I mean, I'll probably go home too. I don't have anything planned, though..."After eating, the two of you head back to your rooms. Alice goes back to doing whatever she does on her computer, but you feel like the relationship between the two of you have grown a lot more friendly. When your afternoon exams finally come around, you say goodbye to Alice and head off to the test room. The exam turns out to be rather easy, quite contrary to your expectations despite your studying, and you don't even have to use your abilities to cheat. You eat dinner with Alice and end up buying some video games and playing with her. It's quite late when you finally go to sleep, but you decide that it had definitely been worth it.(3/?)
When you wake up Tuesday morning, you find that Liza has replied with an affirmative and she's free for the whole day. You meet up with her at breakfast while Alice sleeps in, and you explain to her that you were planning on doing a quick tour around the campus and checking out the other convenience stores in case they had also been coerced into selling tainted protein bars.Liza notes that this isn't really what she expected when you asked her to hang out, but she knows how important this issue is and doesn't complain when you drag her around campus. The cashiers at the convenience stores are all understandably confused when you show them a picture of the wrapper you have and ask them if someone has been offering money to them in order to sell them. None of them seem to be overly suspicious or nervous when you ask them, and it seems like they're telling the truth. Without further interrogation, which you're hesitant to do, it just seems like whoever it was only put one protein bar out for sale. Susan seemed quite relieved when you texted her about this, and complimented you on your thoroughness. You get a feeling that the singular protein bar was a trial run or something, considering the way the person seems to be trying to keep tabs on Liza. You wonder if your interference has raised any suspicions yet as Liza hasn't munched on any humans as the person probably expected her to do.Before you and Liza part ways for the day, you mention that there was going to be a small party on the weekend with just you and your friends, and that you were wondering if she wanted to go. Upon hearing that it was restricted to your friend group, she readily agreed.(4/?)
You also notice that your augmentations that you had kept active for the entire time were still going strong, and seemed to be draining less from the reservoir of power you kept track of. It seems that the longer you keep them, the less it'll take to stay active, and you suspect that you might actually get them as something permanent if you kept them up long enough. You'll probably need to keep Summer's advice in mind and not disturb them too much, though, if you want to make them permanent. That does raise another issue. Does that mean if you changed your appearance and kept it too long, you'd stay permanently changed? And that you'd have to expend power to go back to normal and stay normal? Well, at any rate, it's something to think about.(5/?)>(more incoming)So I ended up doing a timeskip for the op because that's where we left off last thread. I'm going to try to get the other days out as quickly as possible, sorry, please bear with me.
I've been waiting so long, OP! And now I have to sleep immediately! Dammit.
>>40747735Still faster than decu or fap angle.
>>40747811To be fair, not the strictest standard.Hope this is still going when I wake up! Remember not to let Liza eat anyone at the party if we can stop it!
Wednesday is spent taking your second exam and spending the rest of the time hanging out with your friends. On a side note, you do something you probably should have done a while ago and install some social media applications onto your personal smartphone. You usually keep such things at a bare minimum, maybe checking sites on your computer when you need to talk to people or look something up, but you never bothered to install them onto your phone. But now, with your new job, it wouldn't hurt to take a glance and see if anything weird was happening during your spare time or if you were otherwise unoccupied.Well, hopefully something good would come out of it. You were already beginning to regret your decision as you manually turned off notifications for each and every application you installed. You wouldn't do that if you were being notified of important information, but knowing the latest posts and some random person's birthday wouldn't really help much...Anyways, your friends are happy to see you. Chloe is off taking a test, but she's back in time for the four of you to catch a late lunch. Chloe's an artsy type of person, and has a long black ponytail and sky blue eyes. She's a good friend that Laura introduced to you at the beginning of the year.Laura's, on the other hand, is a friend from high school who's also Chinese, with brown eyes, black hair, and an attractive figure. Mark is her boyfriend who's average in height but nicely toned, with dark green eyes and short brown hair.(1/2)
They're all very nice people, and you were a little disappointed that you were placed into separate dorms. Laura would have roomed with you, but one of her other friends had roped her into a three person room that she was now regretting. Her complaints were often the topic of your conversations, which you happily welcomed after being away from them for so long. You didn't mention the injury in your back, of course. It was healing nicely, and as long as you didn't think about it you didn't really feel it too much. You just had to be careful not to strain yourself by lifting something that was too heavy or bending your back in the wrong way.Hmm. With the amount that you've been using your powers, you wonder if you could temporarily patch the area up. Maybe you could use some power to completely heal the injury and hold the changes for a long time to make them eventually permanent? Although that did raise questions on whether the your body's natural healing would progress if there wasn't anything to fix.(2/2)>Use power?>Any specifics? (Write-in.)

You're not going to do anything while you're still with your friends. For now, you decide, you'll hold off on messing about with the injury on your back.As you hang out with them, you surreptitiously ask them if they've seen anything strange going on, about any school rumors or spooky stories or things like that. They know that you're kind of weird in that way already, as you did tell them quite a few disturbing stories during that thanksgiving party at an upperclassman's house, so this shouldn't really be too suspicious.Laura and Mark don't really have anything and they're not too convinced that the whole "haunted school" trope actually exists outside of movies or comics. Chloe, however, doesn't disappoint, and mentions that there was apparently a haunted storage closet in one of the science lab buildings.A haunted storage closet, huh? It doesn't really seem like something that would actually be paranormal, but Chloe insists that people feel really weird and scared when they walk into it. Or at least, that's what she's heard. The building is close by, and it wouldn't really take too much time to stop by and look at it. It's not like you have anything to do until your exam at six o'clock. It's around four right now, and it would only take a few minutes to walk there.Laura and Mark are both willing to go if you want to go as well. If you decide to go, however, you wonder if you should prepare anything, just in case. Or maybe your abilities are enough to handle anything that might appear from a disused storage closet. It's odd, you realize, that Chloe didn't check this place out by herself already if she was so eager to see it. With a grin, you tease Chloe a little about how you noticed that she didn't want to go alone, and she blushes but smiles anyway, claiming that she didn't want to be abducted by ghosts.>Go, Chloe seems eager to see it.>Nah, too spooky for you.>Bring something (Write-in.)>Other (Write-in.)

You decide that fine, you'll go. Chloe nearly bounces in excitement as she immediately gets up and ushers everyone to the door. You had been hanging out in Chloe's dorm, which was empty because she had somehow managed to get a single-person room. The rest of you had been quite jealous of her before realizing that the room would be perfect for a hangout spot, as there wasn't any issue of dealing with unruly roommates or unsocial ones. In fact, the five of you, including Alice, had planned on having the party in here. Six people, if you included Liza.Speaking of Liza, you took a moment to send her a text and ask her if she wanted to meet up with your friends before the party on Saturday. You had been planning on spending the entirety of tomorrow, which was Thursday, practicing your powers, but you were pretty sure that you could take some time to introduce Liza to your friends. Or at least add her to the group text.Underneath the surprisingly less hot than expected afternoon sun, courtesy of the more mild winter weather, the four of you make your way to the science lab building that you have your chemistry labs in. The storage closet is on the third floor, and you're grateful that not many people are here, as no labs or classes take place during exam week. After jiggling the handle a little bit, Chloe swings the closet open with a flourish, then immediately takes a step back and stands behind you. The inside is dark and actually pretty big, about the size of a small living room. Closet, actually, might not be a good description for what seems to be more of a storeroom. Large empty wooden shelves line the walls, the smell of decay and dust pervading your nose as you step inside.(1/2)
Mark pulls out a keychain with a LED light from his pocket and shines it around the place, the little device extremely bright but probably really expensive in terms of power usage. You might have to get one of those yourself, as the little thing is almost like a flashlight yet much smaller than one.You step further into the room and turn around, taking in the entire room, while Laura and Chloe hesitantly enter the threshold, visibly shuddering as they enter. That's... odd, you don't really feel anything, while Laura and Chloe are tightly hugging themselves."Oh g-god, t-this place is t-totally haunted," Chloe whispers. "I f-fuckin' knew it."Mark doesn't look as convinced, while Laura just nods along with her."I'm going to go wait outside," Laura decides, rubbing her arms. "Too cold in here."Before she can take a step, however, Mark's LED keychain starts flashing in a frenzied strobe pattern, making Chloe gasp and nearly trip over herself in her haste to get out. You blink in surprise for a second before you see Laura elbow Mark in the stomach as he snickers, changing his amusement to a groan of pain.As Chloe yells at Mark even as she laughs at herself, there isn't anyone paying attention to you for a moment. You wonder if you could use your power to enhance your eyesight or touch or sense of smell to get something more out of this room. Or maybe you could come back here some other time, but you'd risk whatever is in here dissipating or whatever it is that spooky shiver-inducing things do.(2/2)>Use powers, enhance->>Sight>>Smell>>Touch>>Taste>>Hearing>>Something else? You take the moment and focus on enhancing your sight, hearing, and smell, focusing on the vague notion of increasing the number of photoreceptors and olfactory bulbs and the sensitivity of your eardrums and nerves. Almost instantaneously, you feel your personal reservoir of power take a small dip and your eyesight, hearing, and sense of smell suddenly become hypersensitive. The light coming in from the hallway seems just as bright as daylight, you can easily hear the conversation your friends are having, and the musty, decaying smell of wood and mold almost overpowers you for a moment. And for that brief moment of time, you see the faintest flash of dark brown on the walls and the accompanying odor of old, dried blood. And... something else you can smell, something that you can't identify. And then everything reverts back to normal, before you can determine whether the stains on the wall are in some sort of recognizable shape, and before you can understand what that odd smell was. Although, considering that this was the first time you augmented your senses, it would make sense for you to be able smell something that you hadn't been able to smell before.(1/2)
You manage to recover from the barrage of new sensations rather quickly, with your friends none the wiser as you laugh at their reactions and Mark's pain. When everyone has recovered from the surprise, you ask Chloe if she had felt a temperature change of some sort while she was in here. She shakes her head, saying that it was already cold when she stepped inside. Mark remarks that it is kind of cold in here, but that's probably because it was shut off from the hallway's airflow and wasn't really near any windows or anything. You yourself don't really notice what they've described as a mild cold, your enhancements and the increased metabolism you augmented yourself with keeping you warm. After Mark shines his LED light around a little more, he declares that he doesn't see anything weird in here. If it weren't for the brief period of enhanced sight, you'd have to agree with his assessment, as there doesn't seem to be anything else out of place. The wooden shelves are just shelves, maybe a little rotted and a bit too close to collapsing, but otherwise the room is bare.(2/2)>Stick around do something? You wave your hand in the air. "Hellooo? Any ghosts want to come out?"Chloe freezes. "Stop that!" Chloe hisses. Laura just looks on, amused."Nah, I'll let them possess me so we'll have proof that ghosts exist," you say, grinning cheekily despite Chloe's horrified protests. "What could go wro—"You fall to your knees, clutching at your throat. Your body slowly slumps to the ground as you writhe against some intangible entity, making Mark raise his hands in a panic, unsure of what to do. Laura looks like she's about to scream for help, while Chloe runs forward and—You burst into giggles, unable to keep up the facade any longer. "Oh god, I'm so sorry," you manage to choke out between your laughter.Chloe looks like she can't decide between being impressed or kicking you in the side, while Laura just relaxes and rolls her eyes. Mark stares at you incredulously, clearly in awe of your ability to steal and improve upon his prank."Fuuuck, how did I fall for that?" Chloe says despairingly, finally settling on self-loathing. "That was so obvious, you even did a lead up to it..."As Chloe mumbles to herself, you get off of the dusty floor and brush yourself off, wiping the tears out of your eyes. You're feeling incredibly satisfied by the prank, and... your personal power reservoir, surprisingly, seems to have grown by quite a substantial amount. Intuitively, you feel as though you almost have enough to make a medium-sized glamour, enough to alter all of your limbs or adjust your body morphology. And a glamour invested with that much power, logically, should be more resistant and permanent against disturbances. The possibilities...(1/3)
You shake your head to clear your mind and leave the storeroom with your friends, shutting the door behind you. You might want to come back again later to do some more investigating, maybe try the whole enhanced senses thing again, but if you left your friends now it would be a little too suspicious. After the four of you get back to Chloe's room, you hang out a little more before going to take your exam. Once again, it's surprisingly easy. Anything that you don't know you're easily able to puzzle through and figure out, and most of the stuff you've already studied for anyways. You're beginning to suspect that the mental clarity that came with the augmentations and increased physical fitness might be helping you more than you realized. After your exam, you meet up with your friends at on of the dining halls and eat dinner together. Liza had replied to your text, saying that yes, she would like to meet with your friends before going to their party. Taking that as permission, you tell your friends about Liza and how you met her at the dining hall on Sunday and hit it off immediately, omitting any mention of zombies and pig brains. You ask them if it was okay that you had invited her to the party, and they all readily agree when you say that she's trustworthy.Although Mark and Laura have tests tomorrow afternoon, they and Chloe say that they wouldn't mind spending some time getting to know Liza after they were done with the tests. That works out quite well, actually, as you can use the time they need for studying to practice your powers as you had planned. (2/3)
So when Thursday morning comes around, the first thing you do after waking up and showering is determining what you want to practice and where you want to do it. You feel like you should probably practice some more minor glamours in order to avoid exhausting your resources, but on the other hand giving yourself a buff and holding it in place did sound kind of good. Although if you ever had to change the buff for some reason you'd probably have wasted a lot of power. And as to where you want to practice your powers, you could hike into the woods and do something there, or just sequester yourself in the bathroom stall. It's not like anyone would force themselves into a locked stall, and you floor has two bathrooms that have always had a free stall whenever you needed to use them. Besides, hiking or biking to and back from the hills might be a little excessive, although you would have to give Alice an excuse if you went to the bathroom and stayed there for a long time.(3/3)>Practice minor glamour (Write-in)>Practice larger glamours (Write-in)>Other (Write-in)>Woods/Hills>Bathroom stall>Other (Write-in)

In the end, you decide to just begin your practice before Alice wakes up. Fortunately, she's sleeping in, as she usually does, so you're able to just normally do your morning routine and head into the bathroom right after. You briefly consider eating breakfast first, but then you decide that you might be hungry after practicing and you could just eat lunch instead, saving yourself a meal swipe. As you lock yourself into the bathroom stall, you decide that you'll practice improving your senses. If you had been able to hold the improvements yesterday, you would have had a much easier time figuring out what was going on with the room. But you figure that if you practice enough today, you'll be able to get more answers when you check out the storeroom again. You flip the lid of the toilet seat down, making sure you had a comfortable seat before closing your eyes and focusing. You push power into your senses, doing a similar thing you did the previous day, and you also try to increase the sensitivity of your touch and taste. And then you open your eyes. For one, glorious, moment, your senses exceed what you had imagined. You can feel the subtle currents of air on your skin, see the tiny motes of dust in the air, hear the voices of the people in the hallway as though they were standing next to you, taste the spicy mintiness on your tongue from the toothpaste you just used, smell the......oh god is that what you think it i—Nope nope nope you try to push away your improvements but they seem to be stubbornly holding on, letting you feel the scratchiness of your clothing's fibers and see the filth on the bathroom floor and the gurgling of whatever the fuck is in the sewage pipes and you can smell, nearly taste, the urghh—(1/?)
As you throw up into the toilet you barely managed to flip open in time, you reflect that it was probably a good decision not to have eaten too much in the morning. You also hope that you don't come out of this with some kind of hypersensitivity toward, urgh, bodily wastes.By some sheer stroke of luck, you manage to regain control of your stomach before anyone comes in. You flush the toilet and stumble out of the stall to the sink, splashing water onto your face and rising your mouth. For a moment, you consider ending this training session. After all, it had succeeded, just not in the way... you wanted it to.But no. That was a stupid thought. You aren't going to leave on this note. If anything, you're going to force yourself to find a way around this problem. And so you take a seat in the stall again, opening up your senses little by little. You can't exactly replicate the tremendous success you had previously, but you find it a little easier, and from your rough estimate, a little less costly to improve upon your senses than before. And as for the environment around you, you're pleased to find yourself growing used to the horrific smells and sights. You're even getting used to how scratchy and itchy your clothing is when your sense of touch is enhanced. In fact, you feel like you've come out of this with a greater resistance to things that might overpower or disturb your senses. If you ever became a doctor like your parents wanted you to be, you're sure that this resistance would come in handy. And you're also pretty sure that in your line of work, having a greater resistance to pain and seeing bloody scenes might be necessary in the future.(2/5)
After a few hurried shutdowns of your senses to avoid intruding on the privacy of people in other stalls and a lot of contemplating about how dirty girl's bathrooms were, you decide that you can't seem to improve any more—at least not for today. You go back to your room and spend some time lying down in your bed and shutting your eyes, activating only your sense of hearing and trying to see if you could hear the people outside from your window. Your floor is four stories up, but thanks how their voices bounce off of the walls of the building and your improved hearing, you actually able to make out the entire conversations of people sitting outside of the building. You also contemplate possibly trying to boost your mental abilities in order to be able to handle the sensory input better if your senses improve more in the future, although you don't know if messing with your brain is a good idea. You eat lunch with Alice when she wakes up, and the two of you spend the most of the afternoon waiting in your room for your friends to finish their tests. Apparently the other three have decided on your room as the meeting area this time, as they know how reluctant Alice is to leave the room. You text Liza to come over whenever she's free, and you also text her the time at which Laura and Mark finish their exams.(3/5)
When everyone has finally been gathered together, you introduce Liza to the other three. They seem to get along well enough, but the ice isn't really broken until Alice finally pulls out a selection of board games and card games from her closet. It's been quite a while since you've played many of the games that Alice brought out, but they're a lot more fun than you expected, especially due to the number of people playing. Afterwards, the six—wow that's a lot—of you eventually end up biking downtown and eating at a burger restaurant most of you haven't been to yet after accidentally missing dinner hours for the dining hall. It's safe to say that by the end of the night, Liza has become a member of your group of friends. You're looking forward to the party on Saturday night, and briefly wonder if Liza can get drunk. Or if she should get drunk at all. Huh, maybe you should keep an eye on her during the party.(4/5)
Friday morning arrives, and along with it comes your last exam of the week. The exam is in the morning, so you're able to get it out of the way before you consider what you're going to do for the rest of the day. You had planned on getting to know Caroline, but you aren't really sure why. Maybe it was the weird things she said or her striking appearance, but either way you decide that it's probably within your best interest to improve your relationship with her.A call is probably too bold, so you send her a text instead, asking her what's up. She responds by lunchtime, with a text saying that she's doing fine and now that her exams are over, she's going to go see a movie with a friend. You ask her if it's a "friend 'friend'", to which she laughs and denies. In fact, she says that you're welcome to come along too if you wanted, although she jokingly reminds you that she isn't going to be paying for your ticket. You consider her offer as you finish up your lunch. She sends another you another text containing an emoticon rolling its eyes, and you text her back a grin. Before putting your phone away, you send Susan a text asking her for the status of Summer. You have Summer's number but you aren't really sure if you can use it if she's still locked up.Instead of going to the movies, you decide to check out the weird closet room again. You've made improvements on enhancing your sight, and without anyone else around you can just close the doors and take all the time you need. As an afterthought, you bring your bike light in case the room is completely dark with the doors closed, and then you make your way to the science lab.You manage to get to the third floor without any issue, the lack of students allowing you to avoid doing some awkward explaining about why you decided to enter an unused storage closet with a bike light.Remembering where the stains had been previously, you look at the wall and turn on your sensory abilities.>Roll 1d100, best of three>Close closet doors in case someone comes>Leave doors open>Other (Write-in.)

You close the door and flick your bike light on, then focus intently.Your senses expand greatly, although not to their peak potential, and you feel like you could keep this up for as long as your power reservoir held up. It doesn't seem to be using too much of your resources, but you still avoid wasting time and immediately begin scanning the wall even as you concentrate on your other senses. Thanks to your improved vision, the walls look as though they're completely illuminated wherever your bike light shines. You set the light face up on the floor so your hands are free and the light evenly illuminates the room. The first thing you do before looking at the visual evidence is to take a moment to breathe in the air and listen closely. You don't hear anything strange, although... there seems to be a slight pressure on your eardrums? Maybe it's the air pressure in this room. However, you do get a better read on the smell. It seems to smell mostly like sweat, although there's an odd tinge to it.Not that you know what sweat smells like on average. You're pretty sure that different people smell different. Your analysis of the odd tinge to the sweat, however, is just you going by instinct. You turn your attention to the walls.(1/2)
The marks on the walls... still aren't that clear. After all, despite your enhanced sight, you can only see something if it's still actually there. And depending on how long ago these bloodstains were made, bacteria and mold probably would have made short work of most of the organic residue. However, as you do a visual sweep of the walls, you feel like you're getting a picture of what happened in this room. Most of the stains are on the wall directly in front of you, but some marks appear on the walls to your left and right. You can see the brown-black marks through the gaps in the two shelves on the left and right walls...no, the marks on are on the shelves too. It seems that this room had been used before, until something had obviously happened. You realize that if you tilt your head just right and fill in some of the gaps between the marks, you can see the outlines of shapes—no wait, those are handprints—and large smears where something had been dragged along the wall. Some of the marks above those outlines, however, are arranged in a horizontal pattern, albeit slightly tilted.Hmm... You take a few steps backwards, your back nearly pressed against the closet door, and you take another glance at the overall image. Although it's hard to tell due to the amount of blood that has degraded, there seems to be gaps between the blood in rough outline of a rectangle, few inches shorter than you and nearly touching the ground.(2/2)>Investigate more>Alright, time to get out of here.>Other (Write-in)

Against all of your survival instincts and everything you learned from horror movies, you decide to take a closer look. The outline of the rectangle is a little odd, and it kind of looks like a door. Er, a door made for midgets. You'd have to crouch a bit to actually get through it, and you're not that tall yourself. You reach out carefully, avoiding the marks, and knock on the outline of the door. You listen closely to the sound with your enhanced hearing and walk over to the left side of the room, then knock on that side of the wall. After a few more knocks and comparisons, you suspect that the entire area of the outline of the doorway seems to be hollow underneath, or at least the wall seems to be made of a different substance. It doesn't feel any different to your improved sense of touch, however. So maybe it's a secret doorway of some sort? You had already discovered that the wall seemed to be hollow, but this time you bring your ear closer and try to see if you can judge exactly how thick the wall is. After a few attempts, you realize that you don't really have a comparison, considering the only things you have on hand are either a solid wall or an wall of unknown thickness. You take a moment to open the closet doors and peek out into the hallway. There's a brief moment where you think you might have somehow been locked inside, but then the doors crack open and you breathe a sigh of relief. You glance around. Nope, there doesn't seem to be anyone nearby. You use the opportunity to sweep the doors wide open and bring some fresh air into the room, taking a few breaths while you're outside as well, before tightly shutting the doors once more.Even though there isn't anyone else around, you still decide to take the stealth option. It's better to be safe than sorry, and there doesn't seem to be any handy tools lying around for you to use. You could probably break one of the shelves and smash the walls with a wooden board, but that would make a lot of the noise you were trying to avoid in the first place and would probably be less effective than what you had in mind.(1/3)
You focus on your hands and try to sharpen your fingertips to form some sort of hard implement to stab through the walls with. You remember making these claws before, when you were experimenting with the whole endurance and claws package when you challenged Liza to a run, and it seems your body does too, your finger tips swiftly reshaping themselves into pointy tips. Its a little creepy seeing them move like that just from you desiring them to form that shape, but otherwise it's actually pretty cool. You had considered enhancing your musculature too, but decided that it would be a bit too much of a drain on your resources. After all, drywall shouldn't be too hard to pierce through. On a related note, you had also considered only transforming one of your fingers into a claw in order to save on resource usage, but you realized that stabbing into the drywall finger by finger probably wasn't the more time-efficient way to go about doing this. You stiffen your fingers, grit your teeth, and slam your hands into the wall. As expected, your enhanced senses made the tender, unclawed portions of you finger decidedly uncomfortable as they scraped against the rough edges of the drywall after your fingers had plunged straight through. You manage to only let out a grunt before ripping your fingers out of the wall and stabbing them into a section a bit higher up. After a minute or so of this, your fingers and knuckles are very sore, your skin is rubbed raw and feels like it is on fire, but you've managed to make the outline of the door like one of those tear-off sheets of paper. You insert a finger into each side of the doorway and rip downwards, then do the same for the top and bottom, holding the drywall in place with one hand until it is finally free. It turns out to be quite easy to cut through the drywall, and you wonder if you should have just tried to make an actual blade on your fingers and just cut through the board.(2/3)
Anyways, at least this was much less messy than ripping chunks out of the wall. There isn't too much debris on the floor, just a few flakes of paint that would probably be hard to see in the dark and on the linoleum floor, and you have most of the drywall covering the doorway intact, allowing you to slip the ragged sheet behind a shelf in case it might be useful later. You dismiss you claws, getting a bit of power back, and turn your attention to the door. The door has been revealed. It's a plain grey steel door with a handle on it and a keyhole below the handle. There doesn't seem to be anything odd with the door, except for the fact that it doesn't look as rusted or worn out as you would expect something buried behind a wall to be. Although, this room as a whole doesn't seem to have been used much, so you guess it would make sense that the door would still be new. But why, then, would they seal it u—Wait, what was that? You frown and focus on your hearing. It's really faint, and you almost have your ear pressed against the door until you finally realize what it is.'Knock'. 'Knock-knock'.>Investigate more!>It is time to go.>Other (Write-in)

Huh.Honestly, that should have scared you a lot more than how you feel at the moment. The spooky buildup, the odd, still silence of the room with nothing but the sounds of you stabbing into drywall to keep yourself company, the weird door and stuffy room, and now the classic disembodied knocking from behind something that hasn't been opened in what seems to have been a long time.Oh well. You might as well try communicating with whatever is on the other side of the door. You crouch again and press your ear against the cold metal surface. There's a few knocks, and then silence, and then a few knocks again. It's so faint that you can barely hear it despite your enhanced hearing and your proximity to the source. You wait a few seconds until the lull in knocks, and then knock back in the same pattern. A single knock, then two quick knocks, and then you wait.A few seconds pass, and the knocks you expected don't occur, the pattern broken. There a few more seconds of silence, as though whatever is on the other side of the door is confused by your response, and then the knocking resumes in the normal fashion. You knock again, harder, this time, and there's a familiar pause once more, as if acknowledging that it heard you, before it resumes its pattern. You wonder if that means you've been granted permission or something. You decide that, well, since you've already gotten so far, you might as well see things through. You firmly grab the handle and push downwards, then lean against the door......And it's not opening. Why isn't it opening? You push a little harder, but nothing happens. You enhanced sight can see that the doorway hasn't even moved the tiniest of a fraction. You glare at the keyhole and sigh. Of course things couldn't be that simple. Maybe you need a key or something to unlock the door. Or maybe the knocks are in Morse code and are instructions for opening the door. You take a moment to listen at the door again. No, the knocks are in the same pattern as you heard a minute ago. Just a knock, then two knocks, and then silence for a few seconds. You get down to the ground level and try to see if there's a space beneath the door. Maybe you could slip a piece of paper beneath the door with some writing on it. But after some prodding and shining your bike light directly into the crack, you see that the door is pressed quite firmly into the ground. Perhaps you could carve out the linoleum if you were really desperate to get inside.(1/2)
Now that you know there's a key hole in the door, you do another quick search of the room. Neither of shelves contain keys, although you can't really see the tops of the two shelves, as they're nearly touching the ceiling. There doesn't seem to be anything in the rotten joints of the shelves either, and you wouldn't know if there were any secret compartments in the shelves without breaking them open. You wonder if you should just try to kick the door down. If the frame of the door was weak enough, you could just break it by enhancing your strength and kicking a little to the left of the lock to force the deadbolt through the frame.Although, perhaps it wouldn't be good to anger the entity sealed behind a steel door and a wall covered in bloody handprints and markings. Maybe it just wasn't the right time, and the door would open by itself after a while.Taking another look at the remnants on the walls, you realize that they do seem to be rather small handprints...(2/2)>Kick down the door>Find someone to pick to the lock>Carve a trench in the linoleum and pass a message>Time to head back.>Other (Write-in)

You decide to put off possibly angering some sort of ghost or abomination for another day. Instead, you decide to head back instead and do some research on when the building was constructed. Maybe you'll be able to get some information that way.You get an irrational urge to tell the entity behind the door that you're going to go now and you'll be back later, but you manage to suppress it by telling yourself that you might make it angry and set it off. Instead, you put the drywall back into place as best as you can. The holes in the shape of the door are really obvious and it looks like it might fall out at any time, but hopefully people won't notice if they don't look too hard. It is pretty dark inside the storeroom, after all.You pick up your bike light, peek outside the closet doors, and step outside and shut the door behind you when you see that no one is around. As you walk back to your dorm, you check your phone to see if there are any new messages. You're walking down the stairs when you open up Susan's message, and you nearly lose your balance in surprise. Apparently Summer has been released from custody, something to do with them only having weak circumstantial evidence in the first place and the fact that she hadn't revealed anything during interrogation. Susan also told her not to worry, as Summer was still just a weak fae and probably wouldn't try going after you for revenge. You suppress a nervous giggle upon reading that part. It seems that since you didn't tell them about who she really was, Summer was able to conceal her true identity. You're not quite sure how you feel about successfully lying to Susan and the others.(1/2)
With Summer now free, this means that you might be able to get into contact with her using the phone number that comes almost reflexively to your mind when you think about it. You do remember, however, the odd way she phrased that she would do a favor for you while she would "try to avoid hurting you".When you get back to your dorm, you do a bit of searching for any information you can find about the lab building the storage closet was in. You didn't expect to find much, but it turns out that there's actually a timeline of the school that includes the buildings that were built over the years. You read that the lab building was originally built in the 1960's, although it underwent a refurbishing about ten years ago. That means that there's a pretty large time period in which whatever occurred in that room could have happened, and you're not even sure if you can find electronic records dating back that far. Searching through libraries or electronic databases year by year to find anything suspicious that might match up to this specific crime also seems like kind of a long shot.Well, it's still only the afternoon at this point, and you could use this time to call Summer or do something else. Laura and Mark are taking their last exams, and you're going to meet up with them and Chloe tomorrow anyways. Alice, as usual, is sitting behind you at her desk. You suppose it shouldn't be too much trouble to find a secluded place to call Summer in, but you're kind of wary about possibly using up her favor just by calling her.>Find a secluded place (Write-in) and call Summer>Don't call Summer>Write-in.
