Your name is Kazuya Narukami, and you are the best friend of a standard harem MC. A month ago, your party of thirteen defeated the Dark Lord Azazel and restored peace to the world.
Your ordinary lives have resumed, so your objective is now twofold. That is, resolving your bro's harem and supporting him to the very end!

[6:30 am, Mar 1, 2016]

Miles away from Tatsuya Aragaki’s home, located in some of the more downtrodden sectors of Megiddo City, there lies a run-down garage. The shutters are permanently closed, as if stuck to the ground with a mass of superglue. Stickers of varying colors and sizes are attached like flies to honey on the metal boards. There is a sign painted onto the concrete above it. Presumably, it had once read ‘MIYAMOTO MOTORS’ at some point in the past. Now, it is so faded it practically merges with the wall.

In short, the garage is the type of place easily overlooked. Hardly anyone goes near it, never mind actually touching it. It is just another a murky, grime-infested structure in an area littered with its kind. The kind citizens of Megiddo City have much better things to do.

But if one surveyed the area closely, took the effort to scope out the block 24-7, he or she might catch a slight glimpse of three figures entering and exiting the backside of the garage. Two of the figures are stealthy, the other one most certainly is not.

Don’t judge a book by its cover, the saying goes. It is a phrase that the Party of Thirteen’s technology trio have taken to heart. Head to the back of Miyamoto Motors and press a hidden panel. Then pass all of the physical scanners—the face, the heartbeat, the eye and the mana signature—to open a stairwell descending into an unknown abyss. Head down two flights of stairs (or take the elevator if your legs are not in operation) and you will finally reach the party’s Megiddo-based safehouse.

The safe house reeks of chrome and machinery. Specially, it is the kind of machinery decades ahead of the current norm, and could possibly send the world spiralling into a clichéd cyberpunk disaster if left unchecked. There’s a reason why the man in armor doesn’t talk much about his homeland.

Three individuals currently reside in this safehouse, surrounded by firearms, computer parts and lockers full of various knick-knacks. A vat-grown German supersoldier with enough nanomachines running through her bloodstream to shame the American President, a possibly French hacker with a height comparable to a small eucalyptus and lastly a Nevadan crotch-stabbing thief who frequently took the time to nick anything that wasn’t bolted to the floor. The Sixth, the Eleventh and the Twelfth. Only one of them bothers to shower every day.

Speaking of which, which hero are you?

You are now Courier Six, the dick-ass thief. Born in America, you spent most of your life scrounging around the irradiated Nevada regions. At some point, your survival skills led you to becoming a courier. It was a nice job, paying well with lots of adventure, until some bastard shot you in the head and left you for dead. Then multiple shenanigans occurred, one of which involved a platinum chip and an army of robots and you ultimately found yourself running around the ruins of a forgotten casino with your future leader in tow.

That had been four months ago. Right now, in the glorious year of 2016, you stand in your bedroom. You are dressed in your elite riot gear, as usual.

What will you do?

After much deliberation and pacing around the narrow confines of your room, you choose to take a shower. On any other day, you wouldn’t even consider it. To clean yourself would mean to take off your riot gear. And to take off your riot gear is just plain uncomfortable. All of this was fine when you were a solo adventure tramping around a radioactive wasteland. However, you now live with two other individuals, one of which is a teenage girl. A hardened, military type excelling in interrogation and sniping, but a teenage girl nonetheless.

Having said that, Laura would probably complain less if you ever bothered to shower in the past three weeks.

You shake your head. Might as well get this over and done with. You exit your room and enter the safe house’s bathroom. Then you glance around and bolt the door shut. You bolt it so hard that oxygen has a hard time escaping through the cracks.

Then you begin the painstaking task of stripping off your riot gear and standing underneath the cascading downpour of shower water. You have to admit, possessing a convenient access to clean running water is very convenient. Horrible, desperate memories of thirst in Nevada begin surface at the back of your mind. The most prominent is a tale of how you were trapped in a sink-hole for seven days, with nothing but your gear and a small crate of shitty sarsaparilla. By the end of it, you didn’t even want to look at the dreck.

The ten minutes time limit finishes, clear water ceasing to run down your muscular torso. You step outside, evaporation instantly dropping your body temperature and proceed to wipe yourself down with a towel. While you do you, you catch a glimpse yourself in a nearby mirror.

Hmm, yup. That’s your face alright. It’s a very interesting face. Some would even call it terrifying. Only two people in the party have laid their eyes on it: Tatsuya and Trafalgar Law. You intend to keep it that way.

You decide to stop wasting time admiring yourself in the mirror and head outwards to grab some breakfast. You enter the dining room. STREUM has upgraded the place with a selection of inventions from his home world, including the world’s fastest microwave and a long-lasting refrigerator. You open said fridge and come face to gas mask with a veritable wall of demonic kangaroo meat.

Goddammit, STREUM.

Your comrade in shooting and looting, STREUM, is a man of mystery. His golden-black armor. Those brozoufs he constantly sprouts. His ability to penetrate human minds with a virtual machine and detonate them like wells of C4 going off. And his love of demonic kangaroo meat which he eats every day, despite you and Laura having becoming long sick of it. It was delicious the first time, but after the thirtieth serving you wanted to flip the fuck out, hurl the plate out the window and run screaming for the hills.

Screw it, you’ll make your own meal. All those hours spent hunting fire-breathing geckos and stealing the meat of two-headed cows from impoverished farmers weren’t going to waste. You could cook up a storm of wasteland foods. Whenever Tatsuya had been too tired on the year-long journey against the demons, you would step up to cook in his place.

You begin to hunt around the kitchen for other sources of food. A couple of cans here, a few bottles there and hey, is that actual stuff behind the slabs of meat in the fridge? You peer closer, and to your delight you see eggs, milk, bread and other edible condiments behind the demonic kangaroo. Turns out STREUM was only hiding the other food. Possibly in an attempt to get you and Laura to eat the kangaroo.

Bacon, fried eggs and toast with jam. That is what you create for breakfast. It’s a good thing the other occupants of the safe-house are asleep or elsewhere, or you would have been forced to eat in your room. Oh the humanity! You don’t know how you would live through that.

THANK YOU FOR THE MEAL. You write to nobody in particular, and begin devouring the food. Wow, this stuff is delicious. You are so glad that supermarkets exist. It makes things so much more convenient.

You’ve now finished your breakfast. What will you do now?

You flip on the radio and listen to the world news. Lots of important events are occurring at the moment. Most of which do not concern you, which is good. You catch whispers and lines of dull voices covering up robust foreign talk.

“…German president denies any draconic heritage…”

“…rebuilding in Israel is still continuing…”

“…cleanups of Nevada wasteland arrive to a screeching halt, radical group of metahumans believed to be responsible…”

“…monster hunting season in Australia still in full swing…”

Damn, that’s some useful stuff. You listen for a while and then get moving. It’s time to check on the others, see how they’re doing. STREUM in particular received an assignment from the Boss. He should have finished by now.

On the way, you skim over your inventory for a bit.

SILENCED .22 SMG: A silenced submachine gun with high spread and low individual bullet damage. Requires you to get up close to make the most of its potential. Strangely, the pan magazine sits on top of the gun rather than under.

SILENCED 10MM PISTOL: A N99 10mm pistol equipped with a suppressor. It is good for getting easy headshots on unaware enemies. The pistol can be reliably used even after a long time exposed to harsh elements and without maintenance.

SILENCED .308 RIFLE: A powerful suppressor-equipped sniper rifle. It degrades rapidly, so you have to sink a lot of time into maintaining it. Worth it, though.

POWER FIST: A unique pair of knuckledusters. The titular words are imprinted on the spiked plates.

OLD GLORY: A maple staff topped with a brass statue of a golden eagle. You obtained it after reaching the end of a vast, man-made canyon and punching the man who stood there to death with your bare hands. It’s probably the most patriotic and American weapon in your arsenal. Just looking at it makes you want to shed a tear with pride—or it would if you actually gave a damn about that sort of thing. Decent for knocking people out with blows to the head.

COMBAT KNIFE: A large knife designed for combat and survival purposes. Good for slitting throats. If you lose one, you can always ask Laura for another.

RIOT GEAR ARMOR: Your main outfit, which you hardly ever take off. It consists of a brown military duster, combat armor around the chest, brown pants and brown boots. A gas mask and helmet are also supplied.

STIMPAKS: Otherwise known as stimulation delivery packages. They are a type of hand-held medication developed by the U.S. military. You have a shitload of these. The item consists of a syringe of medicine and a gauge for measuring the contents. When injected, the healing process begins immediately.

WEAPON REPAIR KITS: Toolboxes containing duct tape, measuring tools, superglue, wrenches and other equipment needed to keep one’s weapons in working condition.

STEALTH BOYS: Devices that can cloak the user for a brief period of time. You consider their usage to beneath him. They’re practically training wheels in your eyes. However, you might pop one if you’re on a mission you can’t fail.

DECK OF CARDS: For hustling up a mean game of blackjack when you needs to. Too bad everybody is scared of playing with you…

Who will you check on first?

You wonder how your Laura is doing. She’s an early riser. You check her room and find it empty. Big surprise, you say in a flat voice. Or rather, you would have if you weren’t wearing a dirty brown gas mask. Laura is either in the lab servicing her IS or training in one of the gravity rooms STREUM set up. You don’t have a clue how the man managed to manipulate gravity without magic, but that isn’t in your range of expertise. You’ll just attribute it to the miracles of science and move on.

Your boots make loud thumping voices as you descend to the lower bowels of the safehouse. This is a place where you come often, mostly to store all the spoils you received from your raids. Half of them consist of household objects such as toasters, books, clipboards, empty bottles and cameras. Everyone in the party calls your loot junk. They are WRONG. Toasters can be stripped of electronics for repair, books can be cleaned and whitened into sheets of paper, clipboards be transformed into duct tape and empty bottles are capable of being filled with water. All of it can be sold at a profit. They are not useless, and you’ll happily debate with anyone who says otherwise.

You press a series of buttons and enter the computer room.

Surrounded by a bank of monitors, several humming processor boxes and various instruments of deadly firepower, is STREUM. He’s sitting on a swivel chair, busy typing code as the light from the screens threaten to sear his eyes into little roasted lumps of flesh. You saw him in the exact same position last night. The man hasn’t gotten a wink of sleep since.

You walk over to a nearby coffee machine and examine it. You recall you and STREUM jury-rigging a while ago, using scrap electronics, a hollow shell of a metallic bomb, several coffee mugs and various other objects normally found in a junkyard. Laura helped test it, and Law paid the money for the first lot of beans after he lost the bet. You punch the randomizer button and watch with satisfaction as espresso falls out of the tube into the polystyrene cup.

GOOD MORNING STREUM. You write on the tablet, HERE IS SOME COFFEE.

“Much appreciated, brother.” You hear him rasp. The man lifts his helmet and takes a grateful swig. “How are things?”

I JUST WOKE UP. LAURA IS ELSEWHERE. DID YOU REALLY SPENT LAST NIGHT DOWN HERE, CODING?

“I wanted to complete the assignment Tatsuya gave me as soon as possible.” STREUM replies. “There were no acceptable handwriting analysis programs on the Internet, so I developed one from scratch.”

WHEN YOU SAY ACCEPTABLE, DOES THAT MEAN YOU WEREN’T SATISFIED WITH THE ONES AVAILABLE?

“Indeed. I found several hidden away in secured servers found in various government networks. However, they were all poorly designed. So I copied their source code and modified it to suit my tastes.” He pauses. “The children who wrote those letters took painstaking efforts to disguise their handwriting. None of the letters have any fingerprints or bodily marks. It is suspicious. I do not fully understand how adolescents in this world operate, but I do not believe they have the aptitude to cover their traces to this extent.”

YEAH, I AGREE. SO, DID YOU FIND OUT WHO SENT THE LETTERS TO SYOKO?

“Yes. I am sending the data to Tatsuya now. Their handwriting still had traces of their original patterns, so they could not escape my grasp.” You see STREUM move his mouse. “The perpetrators mostly consist of adolescent boys and girls. There are around seven of them and all of them are enrolled in Megiddo City. I have their records stored on file, including those of their parents.”

AS EXPECTED.

“Indeed.” Then STREUM turns around in his chair to face you. “A question, Courier Six. When we hunt down the children who dared to attack Syoko, what will your course of action be?

I ADMIT, IT IS TEMPTING TO USE VIOLENCE. You respond. But you have to remember where you are. This ain’t the Mojave; you can’t shoot someone in the head when you feel like it and then jump up and down on the bloodied corpse. That, and the children would most likely die if you socked them in the face with your Power Fist. BUT TATSUYA AND SYOKO WOULDN’T APPRECIATE IT. BESIDES, WE SHOULD FIND OUT WHAT KIND OF PEOPLE THESE KIDS ARE, FIRST. MAYBE WE CAN TEACH THEM WHAT’S RIGHT.

“I am glad you think that way.” STREUM mutters.

THOUGH WE SHOULD PROBABLY STOP KAZUYA OR SACHIKO FROM DOING ANYTHING RASH.

“Agreed.” STREUM says. “Lest we find seven bodies buried in a ditch, wrapped in chains of unholy light…”

You then spend some time chatting with STREUM. Laura eventually arrives to drag him upstairs for breakfast.
>>
[8:30 am, Mar 1, 2016]

You are now Kazuya. After a night on the magnificent living room couch and an early breakfast cooked by your best bro, Ayase broke out a collection of old board games in the living room. Right now, you are playing the game of the gods with Sachiko, Syoko and Ayase. It is sometimes referred to as Jenga.

“What’s this?” Syoko had asked, curiously inspecting the box.

“One of the most intense games ever designed by man.” You had replied, with complete seriousness.

“Chess is better.” Sachiko had remarked. She went along with it anyway.

It is a difficult game, requiring precision, foresight and very steady fingers. So far, the tower is still standing strong. Numerous pieces have been stripped off and scattered across the carpet. The structure now resembles the skeleton of a building than a fully-completed one. If a small breeze came by, the entire damn thing would collapse in an instant.

“I am the bone of my blade.” Ayase hisses, reaching for a piece. “Steel is my body and fire is my blood.”

She reaches out, and slowly withdraws the piece from the tower. It trembles, but does not fall. Ayase breathes a sigh of relief and discards the piece into a pile.

“Kazuya, it’s your turn.” She says.

You nod. “Right on.”

You outstretch an arm…

You reach for the nearest piece and withdraw it without much trouble. The tower doesn’t even shake. You smirk with delight. Damn, you are one smooth criminal. All those hours spent with your mentor, training fast and precise strikes with Gray Soul’s light form, have certainly paid off.

“My turn.” As expected from a lucky rich girl, Sachiko retrieves her piece without much trouble.

Syoko then follows up and takes hers. The tower wobbles. Ayase goes. At first, she appears to nab the block without much trouble. It is grace of an assassin suited to hurling thousands of daggers at mobs of demons. Then she accidentally nudges the side of the tower.

The chain reaction is immediate. One block shifts. It hits the others. A cascade is formed. They all tumble to the ground, like the great Humpty-Dumpty smashing into eggshells in front of a group of amused knights.

“We have a loser, folks.” You mutter.

Ayase blinks and surveys the damage. “Oh dear.” She says.

“You’re not very good at this, Ayase…” Syoko mumbles.

“Hey, I won the game, didn’t I?” Ayase retorts.

“But I won the first two.” Sachiko grins with pride. “That means I am superior to both of you.”

“Only because your massive luck got in the way.” You say.

“Ohoho! Narukami-kun, are you implying that luck is not a skill?”

“What are you guys doing?” Your bro walks over, mobile phone in hand. Then he sees the wreckage of blocks on the floor. “Ah, Jenga. Never mind that. I’ve got news. STREUM found out who sent the letters. He just messaged me with the data.”

This instantly catches the attention of everyone in the room. You hear the beastly occupant of your mind beginning to stir from its slumber.

“So it’s time, is it?” Ayase snarls, her eyes turning hollow.

“Who are these individuals?” Sachiko growls, “Are they enrolled in our school?”

Your bro crosses his arms. “Look everyone, I’m angry as the rest of you. But violence is not the answer here. We’re going to go over to their houses and have a chat like proper people. No, I’m not going to tell you guys their names. Not until we’ve all settled down.”

Neither Sachiko nor Ayase look particularly pleased about this, but they both relent and sit back down.

“That sounds reasonable.” You hear yourself saying. “But I’m coming with you.”

“I knew you would say that.” He replies. “Four people will be enough, so I’ll probably call Hatoko and maybe—”

“Wait.”

A sudden voice rings out. Everyone turns to the source.

“I…I want to come too.” Syoko stands up, her eyes wide and fists clenched. “T-that is…I want to talk to these people. I’m going to find out why.”

Tatsuya eyes her, looks her up and down. Your friend is trembling. “You sure about this?”

“I think Hatoko should be good.” You state. If bro wanted to talk this over peacefully, then you were okay with that. However, some of the other girls might not be. For Sachiko, the matter was personal. Laura was unforgiving and would most likely resort to interrogation. Kurumi and Ayase were simply violent and dangerous when riled up. And who knew that the adults might do. No, for this endeavour you needed someone understanding and good-natured.

“Hatoko, huh? Alright, I’ll call her.” Tatsuya then looks at Sachiko and Ayase. “Both of you, stay put. Please don’t try to follow us.”

“Understood, Onii-san.” Ayase replies.

After putting on some disguises, you, your bro and Syoko set out. The three of you walk towards the train stop to meet up with Hatoko. After some greetings, the big red monstrosity of one of Megiddo City’s many buses arrive. You all head on and rush straight for the back. Thankfully the seats are near-empty at this time of the day.

“So, who are we looking for?”

“Seven names.” Your bro replies. “STREUM sent me the addresses of each one of them. All of them are students are A-1. We’re going to this one’s house first, belonging to a girl named Katsumi Tsujimara.”

“They’re students at our school?” Hatoko asks. “It’s strange. How come none of the teachers noticed them harassing Syoko?”

“Sachiko told me her contacts didn’t come up with anything, either. Nobody noticed them.” Syoko replies, staring at the ground. “It’s weird. Normally, they’re really attentive to detail.”

“So either we’re dealing with a bunch of stealth nuts, or they’ve just gotten super lucky.” You crack your knuckles and grin. It is not a nice grin, and you know it. “Either way, I’m looking forward to this conversation.”

“Down, Kazuya.” Tatsuya warns you.

After several minutes of snaking through the roads on a rumbling automobile, you arrive at your destination. Your bro graciously pays the fare and everybody leaps off. You now stand outside the house of one Katsumi Tsujimara. It’s an ordinary-looking one, just like yours and Hatoko’s. Part of you is tempted to draw your blade and split the entire damn thing in half. You shove it aside and grit your teeth.

Tatsuya walks forward and rings the doorbell. He waits. It doesn’t take long for a girl with navy hair to answer the door.

“C-can I help you?” She mumbles.

There she is. One of the seven you are looking for. She appears innocent, with her long hair tied into twin buns with pink ribbons. Her disposition seems gentle and her body is quaking. But this is someone who made Syoko cry. For that, you have half a mind to make her pay.

“You’re Katsumi Tsujimara? We have some business to discuss.” You step forward and glare at the girl. Katsumi takes a few steps back, clearly terrified of the aura of disgust emanating from your body.

“W-what?” She trembles. “W-who are you people?”

“You heard me. Let us in.”

“B-but…” The girl stammers.

“We’re from the student council.” Hatoko steps in with a smile. “Tsujimara-san. Don’t worry. You’re not in any trouble.” This is a massive lie, and everyone except your victim knows that.

“We just want to talk to you.” Your bro grabs onto the line Hatoko has let out. “It’s, uh, kinda private. Can we continue this conversation inside?”

“O-oh.” The girl named Katsumi Tsujimara appears to accept this explanation. “S-sure. Come in. I’ll let my parents know.”

She runs off for a while and then comes back. You and your comrades enter the hallway leading to the living room. That is where everybody is seated. You survey the area. There are a few leather couches and an open window where sunlight is streaming in. It is wide enough to fit a body through it. Say, if you suddenly had an urge for defenestration, you could use it.

“Sorry about my partner, here.” Your bro jerks a thumb in your direction. “He’s a little pissed about what happened at school.”

“I-It’s fine. So, what’s all this about?” Katsumi Tsujimara asks.

“We’ve heard reports of bullying at school.” You say. “Heard anything about it?”

“You know, hateful letters being shoved in lockers, students being called nasty names.” Hatoko follows up. “If you have any information relating to this matter, please tell us. It would help us a great deal.”

“B-bullying?” Katsumi Tsujimara mutters. “No, I’m sorry. I wouldn’t know. Usually I try to stay out of sight from others….”

Something smells fishy here, like an entire market near the sea being hit by a torrent of plague bombs. Katsumi Tsujimara is either very good at lying, or she clearly doesn’t know what the hell is going on. Either way, you can’t afford to be hasty here.

“Sorry, Tsujimara-san. Could you please wait here.” You say. “We need to discuss something in private.”

The four of you stand up and quickly head to the corridor, where the girl cannot see you.

“So, what do you guys think?” You whisper.

“This doesn’t feel right.” Tatsuya says back in hushed tones. “If she really was lying, her body language would show it. But as far as I can tell, she’s being genuine.”

“So she really has no clue about Syoko’s bullying?”

“Seems that way. I think she's telling the truth."

“That makes no damn sense!” Your voice quickly raises a little, and then you do your best to dampen it again. “She sent Syoko the letters in the first place. How could she not know?”

“What do you think of her, Syoko-chan?” Hatoko asks.

Syoko awkwardly presses her fingers together. She glances in the direction of the living room and then back to you. “She seems like a good girl. Not a bully, I mean. I can’t imagine her sending those letters to me…”

“That matches up with the data STREUM sent.” Your bro mutters, look at his phone. “‘A gentle and quiet girl, good at studies. She should communicate with others more.’ Katsumi Tsujimara’s school reports are full of stuff like this. And check this, she doesn’t have a record of bullying at all. In fact, back in middle school, Katsumi was often bullied herself.”

Well, according to psychological studies people who are abused often become the abusers. Same goes for bullying.
But I'm not getting that vibe right now. Could be she hides behind anonymity or perhaps someone is framing her.

You sit back in the living room.

“What is your opinion on demons?” You let loose the words in a casual manner, but inside you are a predator ready to pounce. It’s make or break time.

“Demons?” Katsumi Tsujimara appears to be strangely taken aback by this. “W-why do you ask?”

“No reason.”

“I…I…”

Her voice has dropped to a small mumble. You lean closer. “Yes?”

“On…the…subject of d-demons…”

“Go on…” Your bro says, narrowing his eyes.

And all of a sudden, the girl’s voice erupts like a volcano. “I HATE DEMONS!” she screams.

Syoko lowers her head. Her face scrunches up.

“Why would you ask me something like that? The answer should be obvious. All demons should die!”

Gray Soul begins howling. A mournful tune.

“The demons spilled out of the Underworld and began attacking humanity. They kidnapped our children and raped the women. Hundreds of thousands have died from the invasion. Practically all of the world’s suffering comes from their damned kin! None of them deserve to live!”

Your bro tries to say something, but his voice is instantly drowned out by the insane ravings of Katsumi Tsujimara.

“The governments of the world should amass an army to enter hell. Conquer the Underworld. Destroy their settlements and slay their men. Bring their women onto display and cut their heads off one by one. Kill the nobles, enslave their children, rape the Silver Queen!”

Flail her, lock her up, seal her into abyss where she cannot see or hear the light of the day—”

“Enough!” Syoko shrieks, silencing everyone in the room. Katsumi’s eyes have become bloodshot, and her breaths come out in ragged, maddened gasps. You look over to Syoko and you see that she is doing her best to stop herself from crying. It doesn’t work. A single tear falls from her eyes and lands on her skirt. “That’s…enough…”

“Hatoko, please tell me this bitch has an enchantment on her.” You say, your voice becoming as wolfish and dangerous as the beast that lives in the back of your head. “Otherwise, I might do something very violent in a second.”

Hatoko shakes her head. “Don’t, Kazuya. And to answer your previous question, I can’t sense one.”

You really feel like punching something right now. Katsumi Tsujimana’s ribcage sounds like a good place to start. Instead, you put your arm around Syoko’s shoulder. She’s shaking again, her fear apparent. Rage flares up in your mind. If this girl turns out to be genuine with her words, then her house and family might not exist come dusk.

Katsumi Tsujimana is still ranting and raving, going on about how all demons should suffer genocide and how humanity is clearly superior. Then you see Tatsuya slap a palm to his face and stand up. He walks up and slams a single finger at the girls’ forehead. The effect is instant. Her voice is silenced, the change in sound being as abrupt as a valve suddenly being switch off. Her eyes roll back into her sockets and she slumps back into the couch, now unconscious.

“That’s enough out of you.” Tatsuya says coldly, his eyes full of distaste. “Sleep.”

“Well, now what do we do?” You ask the obvious question.

“Tatsuya-kun. Do you think she was telling the truth? She seemed quite into her whole speech.” Hatoko looks downcast, disappointed even.

“The angry part of me wants to believe her. But this just doesn’t feel right. Did you hear her explode?” Tatsuya says. “It was like a switch had been flipped in her head.”

You nod. “Yeah, I get what you’re saying, bro. It felt like someone had shoved two copper wires full of hate down the back of her noggin, set the voltage to high and then smashed on the circuit.”

Hatoko glances at the unconscious girl. “There was a sudden shift in her body. Her eyes became bloodshot almost immediately. Does Tsujimana-san have a history of suddenly lashing out?”

Tatsuya checks the data. “No…”

“Let’s send her to Laura and STREUM for interrogation.” You suggest.

“That’s…a little extreme, Kazuya-kun.” Hatoko eventually says, looking nervous. “Those two might break her.”

Part of you says ‘good, I hope that happens.’ What comes out of your mouth is a little more sensible. “If we tell the two of them to be careful, it should be fine.”

“I agree.” Tatsuya speaks. “I want to get this to the bottom of this as soon as possible. I’ll message Law to get on this, see if his psychoanalysis can find anything.”

Hatoko looks a little displeased. “As long as she doesn’t die.”

You stride over and sling the body over your shoulder. As you do so, Tatsuya replies to Hatoko.

“I’ll punish them if she does.” Is what he says, with complete seriousness.

Then the four of you get the hell out of there, because Katsumi Tsujimana’s parents are still in the house and you really don’t want to be around when they come down. After disposing the body via a truck STREUM had graciously sent over, the four of you decided to check the other six names on the list. Perhaps Katsumi’s outburst had been a one-off thing. Maybe the other perpetrators could be persuaded to listen to reason.

So that’s what you do. Head over to the locations marked on the map and talk to the inhabitants inside. This takes up the majority of the morning. Ultimately, the four of you wind up in a nearby MgRonalds, having completed the job for the day.

Tatsuya reaches for his cola and takes a sip. Then he sighs.

“That was weird.”

When you said job, you meant listening to rants, restraining yourself for killing the speaker on the spot, knocking them out and hiding the body in STREUM’s pickup van. All six displayed the same behavior as Katsumi Tsujimana. You would find this funny, if you weren’t so puzzled and frustrated.

“Amen to that, bro.” You murmur, reaching for the chip.

“So…all six girls are xenophobes against demons.” Hatoko is gracious to sum up the entirely of the morning for you and your friends. “This is not right.”

Syoko shifts in her seat. “Perhaps I should have used my Dementation magic on them…?”

“We didn’t have enough time.” Tatsuya sounds dejected. “Their parents were with them. I didn’t want to cause a scene.”

“Well, it’s all in STREUM and Laura’s hands now. They should be interrogating the girls as we speak.” You say.

“I hope they’ll be alright…” Syoko whispers, inspecting her burger with interest. Come of think of it, this is the first time she’s even been in a MgRonalds, right?

“We definitely know something is up. I have a few theories, but I can’t say anything conclusive.” Tatsuya says. “As to what it is…we’ll just have to sit tight and be patient.”

“Just like old times, eh?”

The four of you eat your meal, making small talk as you do so…

One o’clock in the afternoon arrives, and it’s time for everyone to leave. You four climb onto the bus and ride the trip home in silence. It just so happens that you are sitting next to Syoko.

“Are you alright?” You ask.

“Yes. I’m fine, Kazuya.” Syoko replies. “I…I was prepared for what happened today. I promised myself I would be last night.”

“Don’t tell me you listened to any of that crap.” You scowl. “It’s just a bunch of bullshit. Those guys don’t know what they’re talking about.”

“I-I understand.” Syoko smiles faintly. “But they’re just being silly! We can make them listen to reason. Just as you did to me, long ago.”

“It wasn’t that long.” You remark. “Only like three months ago.”

“Really? I-It feels a lot longer to me. So much has happened.”

“Yeah. Lots of stuff has happened.” It just seems like yesterday you were facing off against a Berserker Syoko; drawing your sword and attacking against her vicious Dementation and sound.

The two of you sit there for a while longer.

“Oh, a-and Kazuya?” Syoko resumes the conversation after some deliberation.

“What’s up?”

“Thank you for being there with me. I mean, you and the others. You…you all gave me courage.” She turns to look at you, smiling. “So t-thanks.”

You smirk proudly as a ray of light glints off your black shades.

“No problem, Syoko.” You laugh. “This is going to sound seriously clichéd, but what are friends for?”

“A extraordinary choice is available. It is one of great reward. I wonder if you’ll take it?”

>write-in.
>>
>>40655271
What's the choice?
>>
>>40655210
Hey Ouro-chan.

Do you think Kazuya is a pretty cool guy? And why is Syoko the cutest?

>>40655271
We pretty much always take the shiny. Though details are always nice.
>>
>>40655271
that depends on what we have to give up for the reward

“Of course, taking it means postponing your current goal. Furthermore, there is no chance that you’ll be able to receive the reward. The outcome is based on luck, after all. Truly the most fickle of entities in this vast universe.”
>>
>>40655315
by goal do you mean resolving bro's harem or finding Syoko's bullies? because if it's the latter, that's kinda something we need to take care of immediately

“Well then, I think shall leave you to it. You all have such short lives, and I wouldn’t want to keep any more of your time. Tatsuya is calling me, too.”
>>
>>40655352

Are you mysterious on purpose, or is it just part of your natural charm?
>>
>>40655352
you tell Tatsuya you love him yet?

BEGIN INTERMISSION 1?

>YES
>NO
>>
>>40655387
>>YES
>>
>>40655387
.....fuckit
>YES
hopefully it's a bit of backstory, I want to see us kickin ass in a rage
>>
>>40655387
>NO
our current goals are more important than a mystery box. huh, never thought I'd say that

I don't there's a way we can't do this.

>YES
>>
>>40655387

fuck...

> YES
>>
>>40655387
>>YES

As long as it won't bite us in the ass for the main storyline
>>
>>40655404

It won't hinder our current goals, though.
>>
>>40655412
we were basically told that it would
>>
>>40655426
>Of course, taking it means postponing your current goal.
>>
>>40655387
>YES
Why not
>>
Rolled 61 (1d100)

>>40655387
YES.
Start operation waifu Ophis.
>>
>>40655439
postpone means put off, it just means that we'll be playing the intermission instead of the main story, it wont actually take up space in the timeline where we are now, it's probably backstory
>>
>>40655439
>>40655430

Postponning =/= hindering.

It just mean we'll have one thread of intermission in the main plot
>>
>>40655387
>YES
>>
And so, Syoko Act 1 draws to a conclusion. But never fear, Intermission 1 will soon commence...

Next thread will be tomorrow! 9:30 pm UTC as usual. Hope to see you all there.

Thanks to everyone who participated today. I'll be off to some important stuff for an hour, and then it's question time.
>>
>>40655488
so how much damage can Kazuta do with one punch, and how many punches can we throw before bro gets us in a full nelson? because if things go bad, I feel like that might be important information
>>
>>40655488
Can we waifu Ophis?
>>
>>40655488
Is Santa real in this Reality?
>>
>>40655695
Ophis replaces Ayase in bro's harem so he doesn't have to deal with a yandere
>>
>>40655695
>wanting to take time away from Syoko
not even once
>>
Will sending Ayase to counseling help her at all?
>>
>>40655713
Not sharing time with them both. By the time we solve bro's harem we know how to make one ourselves.
>>
>>40655488
Thanks for running.
>>
>>40655703
That's what the kids think.

>>40655695
Would Ophis be interested in a human boy billions of years younger than her?
Probably not.

>>40655680
Kazuya can break stone, bone and even steel. If he wanted to, he could demolish entire houses using only his fists. But he wouldn't do that. No, he'd just use his sword instead.
And yes, Kazuya could have beaten Katsumi to death if he really wanted to.

>>40648094
STREUM has jerky. Kangaroo jerky. But also beef, chicken and lamb, because they are delicious as well.

>>40655750
Can you imagine a counsellor who could take on Ayase? Other than Law, who honestly isn't really a counsellor at all.
>>
>>40655488
What happened to Europe in this Alternate Reality?
>>
>>40656152
>Would Ophis be interested in a human boy billions of years younger than her?

You mean, like the one she's bound to?
>>
>>40656228
I-it's different when she's close to someone like that.
>>
>>40656152
We should just increase Ophis her social link than it will work right ;_;.
>>
>>40657630
She belongs to bro
