You leap down and wave her off as you sprint to the road, and into a neighborhood. As you look around you see that the path of destruction continues, and you tighten your fist in anger as the blood of various families can be seen in the destroyed homes. Whatever this demon is, it's just been charging through without any real sense of direction. You keep running up the path, gritting your teeth before stopping in the middle of the destruction of one home in particular.

You look down to see that it's Ted's home. Or was. The crushed wood and debris all around you point the way to a body, also crushed. It's completely unrecognizable, and while you have no way of telling, it makes little difference to you. If it was Ted or one of Ted's parents, either way the tears that are now streaming down your face would still be there. You look up and hear a massive crash, and see the that another home is being pushed apart by the invisible mountain of a demon.

Through it's invisible body, you can see a little girl hugging the wall of her house, mouth open screaming as she was seconds away from being crushed. The shots that hit it's body cause black blood to spill down the side, marking the creature so that it's always visible for you. It starts to slowly march in your direction, a car crashing into it as it makes it's way across the rode.

You're in front of the creature, firing rapidly when you feel an invislbe force wrap around your arm and point it to the sky before whipping you up and slamming you into the concrete again and again. You draw your sword and slice in front of you, cutting off the invisible appendage that held you and landing on the ground with a slide. There's now a fountain of blood in the sky above you, flailing wildly. What do you do?

You swing your sword out rapidly, smacking away the magical blasts so that they're reflected into the body of the creature. It cries out, it's voice being a low hum that vibrates your entire body. As the magic impacts it, it's field of invisibility seems to shimmer and twist under the disruption. It fades away as the magic takes effect, and you land in front of it as the creature's grotesque appearance makes itself known to you.

It's a mass of sick gray flesh, with dozens of red eyes all over it and the mockery of a face at the very top. Various tentacles all seem to explode out of it's body at once when you see it clearly, racing towards you. It's feet are dozens of crablike legs, and the stench of vomit seems to waft out over you, as if it was somewhat concealed by the magic field. You leap backwards, slicing at the tentacles as they approach. What do you do?

You step back on your heel after completing a slice, and begin to rapidly rotate in one spot with your sword held out. The tentacles move in to try and grasp you, but they're chopped to bits as blood is sprayed all over your body. You stop spinning in front of it's body, and whip out your gun as you hold your sword with one hand. You fire into the eyes in front of you which have begun charging up to fire, and they explode violently with magical fire pouring forward. Some of the legs reach up to bite you with their teethed bottoms, but you slice several of them off. Behind you the sound of police sirens can be heard, and you look for just a moment when the sound of gunfire rings out.

You can see two very frightened looking cops behind their squad car taking pot shots at the monster. A tentacle reaches out and wraps itself around the car, hefting it up and smashing them into a pile of gore before you can do anything about it. The squad car is flung in your direction, and you leap over it so that the car impacts the body of the monster, exploding and sending you even higher into the sky.

Spinning all around, your sword slices cleanly through any of the tentacles that try to grasp you. Blasts of laser are flung away as you fall, and you stand directly on top of the face of the monster as you land. You heft your sword high, and stab down into the mountain of flesh's brain, screaming as you do so from rage.

It goes limp, it's stubby legs and wide base means it simply limps. Above you, military helicopters float, and armored troops descend from ropes moments later. As well as a man in a black suit, with black aviator glasses. He approaches, with his hands in pockets and a smile. He looks up and waves. "Come down here, I wanna talk to you."

You leap down, and land in front of him, panting and hefting your sword over your shoulder.

You walk forward and reach your hand out, placing it on the squishy, smelly body. Nothing happens for a few moments as you look back at him with a raised eyebrow, but suddenly you feel the demon's blood rushing into your hand. It's a lot. More than you've ever felt. Then the flesh comes, and like a vortex the entire thing is being sucked into your body. You shudder in response, the initial waves of pleasure quickly turning into a violent pain as it's all gone. You fall to the ground, your body shaking as the chunks of flesh and blood float just under your skin, the veins pressed against your face making you appear as much of a freak as it had. You tighten your fists as the man stares down at you, sneering. You shut your eyes and yell out, roaring as you attempt to take control of the power. In front of your vision, the same three red and white eyes flash rapidly, and the visions of hell intensify. You're briefly brought to a world of fire and pain, of insanity and debauchery. Your flesh boils, and when you open your eyes again you find yourself deep in a pit of lava, unable to breath.

This lasts for a few seconds, before you screw your eyes shut again and open them. Now you're staring back at a bright blue sky, but with the throbbing of your head comes the chanting of a devilish moan.

Had we simply killed Katja in the first place like I had hoped we would, and was sensible, this wouldn't have happened -most likely-. The chance that big ol' eldritch fucker trampling Ted's house would still be there, but with less distractions we probably would have caught it in time.

So really it does boil down to the initial choice for -allowing- the choices that were made, to be made.

Notice she took on Duncan first because she believed he would be the greater challenge. She was able to handle Katja pretty easily with the cover of the forest.

Without the cover of a forest or a city or the interior of a building, though, Lady's not so tough. Get her out in the open and the only thing you have to worry about is Kalina Ann.
