"Your father has a way of ending up in the most bizarre situations through very little effort on his part. Never get in a plane with him." She advises. Duly noted, you think. With Yuuki away and the lab closed, your thoughts suddenly drift to the MantiCore device he had built, and how it'll be all alone tonight. Yuuki assured you its intelligence was rudimentary; it has one of the cyber-brains that Yuuki and Robo possess, but has never been programmed with any advanced intellect, emotion, or creative thinking. Just a squishy processor, essentially.

However, despite the reality, you still feel bad for the poor, giant, killbot. All alone in there, that big brain repeating nothing but the word 'HAI' over and over. You can't stand it any more! You bid Hana goodnight and head out into the yard to access his lab. The access panel is heavy - you eventually have to use Maiden form to shift it - and descend down into the lab. Once inside (thank god Yuuki heated this place finally), you head for the lift and try to recall where the Manticore was stored.

After a few missed attempts and attention payed to more than one stockroom (this place was not nearly as big as Yuuki boasted, the little prick) you finally end up in Manti's hangar. There it sits; that titanical walking monstrosity of metal and chrome.

"But then how did she die in space, and end up here, alive, on earth?" You ask, baffled.

"Mn, that... I'm still trying to figure out. I can only assume her 'survival' has something to do with the Mind focus, and that snake that Sen carries around. What baffles me is why she's acting as a mentor to those three girls. She has no motive for doing so, certainly no traits that would suggest a mentoring personality." He supposes. That sounds solid to you.

"Speaking of that snake, get anything out of it?" You ask.

"Another mystery, it's vanished."

"Say what?" You ask.

"During the blackout, the snake disappeared from this station, and I have been unable to locate it since." He explains.

"That's... HOW?" You ask, baffled again. Nothing regarding Pepper makes any goddamn sense to you.

Pepper had a higher level of cognitive retention and understanding, which only amplified her mental faculties and powers, certainly beyond that of someone like Sen. Operatives like her that we produced were in high demand all over the galaxy."

"When you say 'operatives'... do you mean like soldiers?" You ask Robo, grimly. He takes a few moments to respond.

"Their... uses were far beyond simple military matters, if that's what you're worried about. They performed humanitarian aid, acted as stalwart defenders, brought relief to people-"

"But they did work as soldiers?" You ask.

"...I-In some instances, you could say that." He admits, slowly. That, combined with the comments about a 'prison', break-out, and now human-alien hybrids paints a very bad picture of this thing Robo was involved with, and who - or what- ever Royale is. Your powers would certainly be useful in a combat situation or on hazardous worlds, but building a faux army with a pricetag? That's too far.

"Do you think those three numbnuts know about any of this?" You ask, letting that issue sleep for the moment. Robo seems relieved to be off of the topic.

"I doubt it. It's needless information that would probably complicate matters. If Pepper still adheres to the personality we have on her, she'd probably only tell them what she needed to get them to trust her."

"Naru seems suspicious of her." You comment.

"That is good, she will likely be the easiest to convince of this, should you decide to attempt it." He advises.

"So, she definitely told them that she was a magical girl, and probably that she died fighting against people who forced her to be a soldier..." You say. "Of which you were part, and so I am associated with."

"That... seems logical." He comments.

"Ugh, well I guess I have my reason for why Mai thinks she's so righteous in trying to defeat me." You groan. You'd feel pretty good trying to take down a corrupt magical girl fronting evil aliens too. This is a mess, but if you can convince them of Pepper's lies, maybe they'll fall away from her.

You sigh and head for the lift, hitting the button to take you back. Manti stares at you for a moment before the doors shut.

"BAI." It says. You blink, wondering if you heard that wrong, before the doors shut and it takes you back.

"Mnn, must be more tired than I thought." You think as you re-enter the house. Hana is already upstairs, so you decide to retire as well, beat and exhausted. It's only a few moments after hitting the futon that your eyes shut and you feel yourself drifting away.


At least until the sun comes up. It what felt like a moment, you slept until morning. The piercing light of day streams in through the window, waking you.

"Uggh.." You groan, pulling the blanket over your head. Last day of the week, you think, better make it count.
