You and Liza say your goodbyes to Alice before heading toward the gym. The three of you just finished eating dinner, and Alice is going back to the dorm room to study some more while you have decided to investigate further into the mysterious circumstances around Liza's infection. As you walk there, you pull out your phone and decide to update Susan on the situation, texting her a picture of the seemingly purposefully misprinted label of the protein bar Liza bought from the convenience store and how she said that she seemed to have little recollection of the few hours after ingesting the protein bar. However, Liza did say that she had also just finished a workout before eating the protein bar, hence the reason why you're going to check out the gym. While you're on the way there, you're thinking about what you specifically wanted to investigate, and whether you should get in a bit of a workout yourself.>Check out the machines>Talk to people>Get some exercise>Never mind, leave and go visit the convenience store>Write-in.

When you arrive at the gym, you're not too surprised to see that there aren't many people around. Finals do begin tomorrow, after all."It's usually more lively than this," Liza says, agreeing with your thoughts. You shrug, walking down the rows of machines and giving them cursory glances. "Could you imagine us asking people to leave their machines so we could search them? That would be pretty weird."Liza shakes her head. "Nah, I'd just stand next to them and flex until they left.""Yeah, yeah, keep bragging," you mutter good-naturedly, examining the seat and handles of a shoulder press. After ten minutes of searching, you've made a few laps of the room and examined nearly all of the machines. You could spend some more time doing a more thorough examination, but it seems as though there isn't anything obvious standing out. Now that you think about it, if Liza had been infected in here then the perpetrator probably would have removed all of the evidence before leaving if they were even remotely sensible.Liza also said that she didn't smell anything weird except for the standard smell of body odor, which was particularly nasty when she got close to one of the seats and took a whiff of the accumulated sweat that had soaked into there.Well, now you could either go talk to one of the staff members, or just go to the convenience store. Or you could get some exercise before doing anything else.>Work out>Talk to people>Go visit to convenience store>Write-in.

The next step would be talking to the staff. Although you doubt that they have much to tell you, it wouldn't hurt to ask them. You tell Liza about your idea and she also agrees that it wouldn't be a bad idea to ask. There's a staff member sitting behind a desk in the weight room. He's currently browsing his phone, but when the two of you walk up to him he puts it down and gives you a smile, sitting up straight."Hi, do you need any help?" he asks.He looks quite young, and you realize he's probably also a student here. You briefly consider answering him, but then you realize that Liza was the one here yesterday and give her a nudge instead. She looks at you and blinks, then seems to understand after a moment. "Uh, yeah, did you see anyone weird or suspicious hanging out around here yesterday?"You almost facepalm at her bluntness. "She's worried that she might have a stalker," you quickly interject. "You know, crazy ex-boyfriend and all that."Liza glares at you, her cheeks flushing a little, but thankfully doesn't protest. The staff member nods understandingly, then takes a moment to think as he looks more closely at Liza before suddenly snapping his fingers. "Oh, that's right!" he exclaims in a sudden epiphany. "Someone was asking me to call them if they saw you come by. The dude was being really shady, though, so I refused. He showed me a picture of you and everything, it was pretty creepy. I don't think I was still here on my shift when you came, though."...What?(1/3)
"Wait, are you sure?" you ask. "You're not mistaking her for someone else?""No, I don't think so." He glances at Liza. "Her hair style is really... unique."Hmm. That is true—Liza's short, white hair does stand out a lot."What did he look like?" Liza asks, looking worried for real now."I don't really remember," the staff member says. "Dark hair? I think? Tallish? He basically ran away after I told him to cut it out."Liza looks kind of mad, like she's going to yell at him, but she takes a deep breath and visibly forces herself to stay quiet. After you ask him a few more questions, it's clear that the man doesn't know anything else. He apologizes profusely, and you quickly usher Liza away from him before she can blow up."Aren't you supposed to report the person if they do shit like that?" Liza hisses to you when you're out of the staff member's earshot."I don't know, maybe he thought it was going to be a prank or something," you say, trying to give her a reasonable explanation. "Either way, he never got his name, so even if he wanted to report him he wouldn't really have anything to tell whoever he called.""Fuck." Liza sits heavily on the nearest machine, looking down at the ground. "I thought we got rid of the stalkers or whatever back in Chinatown."(2/3)
You sit down on the machine across from her, reaching out and placing a hand on her shoulder. "It could be completely unrelated," you try to reassure her. "Maybe you actually have a totally normal stalker.""...That doesn't make me feel any better," Liza says, rolling her eyes.It takes a little more cajoling and a few more reassurances before the two of you agree to exercise for a while to take your minds off of things, since you're both here already. Liza seems to cheer up a bit when she realizes how high she can set the machines now, while you keep the weights low and focus on large numbers of reps for endurance. The memory of dragging Summer down a few hallways and up a flight of stairs come back to you, making you push yourself more than you would usually.By the time an hour has passed, you're quite exhausted, considering your long day and the beat down you gave to the monstrous taxi driver. Liza still looks as fresh as ever, not a single drop of sweat on her face despite that fact that she was working out next to you the entire time. For some reason, Liza's shifting nervously on her seat, but you ignore her as you slump down on the machine, panting and sweating. The little pressure on your mind reminds you that you have powers now, and that you might be able to do something to alleviate your exhaustion.(3/3)>Use powers>Don't use powers>Write-in.

You decide to cheat a little with your powers. After all, if anything comes up, you need to be on top of your game, so to speak, if you want to deal with things effectively. With that in mind, you reach out and burn some of your power, focusing on breaking down whatever metabolites that have built down in your muscles and replenishing their energy stores. You're careful to keep a tight rein on your power, making sure you don't muck around with the chemicals in your brain in case you accidentally screw something up.You realize that you haven't "dismissed" the previous changes to boost your stamina, which most certainly helped you during this workout. Something tells you that you can either recoup a bit of the power you used to make the changes if you dismiss them, or you can otherwise keep burning your power to keep the changes active. You remember Summer saying something about how keeping a glamour on for a long enough period of time could make it more permanent.A few seconds later, you sit up straight and breath deeply, doing a few stretches."You okay there Liza?" you ask, noticing how uncomfortable she looked."I-its just a bit sweaty and stifling in here, is all," Liza quickly says, getting up. "Come on, where are we going next?""Let's stop by the convenience store," you decide. "Maybe we can find some clues there."Liza relaxes a bit as the two of you leave the gym, although you notice that she's careful to stay a certain distance away from you. You're not really sure what you're supposed to be looking for at the convenience store. It is a little different for everyone. Your body, on the other hand, will respond to your thoughts, your beliefs. The more you indulge yourself, the more changes you will be able to make, and the longer you can believe and hold the changes without something breaking them, the more permanent the changes will be. And of course, in a day or two you will be unable to even touch the knife you are holding now without injury."I don't think we have had any serious mind alteration yet, but until last thread, we hadn't really done much with our power either. I worry that the more we use the powers, the more of an effect our changes will have on us, in ways outside our control. It's getting late at this point, and the sun has already fully set. The campus isn't completely dark, not with the streetlights lining the paths at various intervals, but even if it was dark you'd still be relatively confident in your safety with Liza by your side and your self-modifications still up and running. You and Liza come to a silent agreement and jog back to the convenience store, the night air cooling you down after your exercise. The convenience store, luckily, is still open despite the time you spent at the gym.A few students are still in the store picking up energy drinks for the long night of studying. When the two of you enter the store, Liza discretely takes a deep breath, tasting the air for anything unusual. After a few more breaths, she looks at you and shakes her head, her expression disappointed. It seems like the two of you aren't having much luck tonight. But considering what you've discovered so far, you're even more motivated to help Liza with her situation. The fatigue that you cleared out of your system along with your improved stamina is really helping you out now as you walk up to the cashier, your clear and active mind considering how you're going to convince him to spill any important information he might have."Hi," you begin in a friendly tone. "My friend bought a Clif Bar with a weird typo on the wrapper, and I was wondering if you knew anything about it."The cashier just looks confused. "Huh? What do you mean?"(1/2)
"It's just that she got food poisoning from eating this fake Clif Bar," you say, pulling out the wrapper and showing him. "Do you know where I can report something like this?"The cashier grows pale. "The bar was bad?" he exclaims. "I-I didn't know, I thought it was a normal bar."You glare at him. "Did someone ask you to sell it?""Y-yeah, just some kid who said it was a psych experiment," he quickly says. "It looked legit and everything, and he gave me some money for taking part in the experiment.""I'd ask if you guys have policy against things like this, but it's clear that no one cares," Liza says, exasperated."L-look, I'll even give you the number he left behind," the cashiers says, pulling out a piece of paper with shaky hands. "I c-copied it down."You take the piece of paper from him and glance at the number before slipping it into your pocket. Liza seems to have no objections to his explanation, but... Is this really all you're going to get out of this situation? It seems a little contrived, even to you—surely no one can be this stupid.(2/2)>Wait for other customers to leave, intimidate him>Wait for closing time in an hour, force your way into the store>Wait for closing time in an hour, ambush him when he's leaving>There isn't anything else to learn, no point in assaulting another student.>Tell Liza to do something (Write-in)>Write-in.

"Alright, thanks," you tell the cashier. "Do you remember what he looked like?"The cashier repeats a description that sounds similar to the one given to you by the staff member in the gym. Dark hair, kind of tall, and white.Liza follows as you leave the convenience store. "I guess that's it, huh?" she asks. "You want to call the number now?"You shake your head. "I have a better idea. Let me call Susan and see what she thinks about this situation."You pull out your work phone and give Susan a call, hoping that she won't mind you calling on a Sunday night. Although, now that you think about it, Susan never said what her office hours were.Susan picks up in a few rings. "Hey Rachel, what's up?""I hope I'm not bothering you," you say. "I wanted to call you and give you another update on what I'm doing.""Go ahead," Susan says. "I saw your text already. Did you discover any new information?"(1/2)
You look at Liza. "Yeah, it seems someone's been stalking Liza, and I have a suspicion that the same person is also the one who bribed a cashier into selling the protein bar that got Liza infected. The cashier gave me a number that he claimed was the person who gave him the protein bar. So, should I call the number? Do you have any advice on what I should do?"Susan is quiet for a moment. "You said that the cashier was bribed into selling these bars? You need to make sure that no other bars were sold, and if possible, you really need to get the name of the person behind this. Give me the number and I'll look up the name and location associated with it."You pull out the piece of paper and repeat the number to her. It takes her a moment, the only thing in the background the clicking of keys, before she responds. "Rachel, that's not a valid number." There's a pause. "This feels like when you gave me the license plate number again. Can you go back and ask him for the right number? "Please, just leave me out of this."You glance up at the security camera. "Surely you have the security footage of when he came in?""I-I don't know how to use the thing," the cashier admits. "They never trained us. And I don't know if he'll be on the footage, he was waiting outside in the morning when I came in to work and gave me the bar to put onto the shelf."You sigh and step outside, Liza coming along with you. "You got any better ideas?"Liza shakes her head. "Sorry, I didn't even think of checking the security footage. Look, we have a phone number now. Couldn't we just, I don't know, trace it or something?""I don't know if a location would help us," you say. "There's a lot of people in the dorms, and I think you need a warrant or something to ask cell service providers to give you location data, which I don't know if the bureau can or at least wants to get as a secret organization.""Alright, well, let's just try not to get into trouble," Liza suggests. "You're technically still a student, so maybe you should try not to be obvious about being a investigator. I don't know if a normal student would insist on making sure they had the security footage..."(1/2)
You nod. "You're right, it might be a little suspicious to keep pressing the cashier for information."On the other hand, maybe you might be able to squeeze a little more out of him. Feeling indecisive, you call Susan and tell her about what you've found, and ask her about what she might be able to do. She confirmed that she didn't want the local law enforcement to be involved at the moment, and that location tracking would still include way too many people to be accurate. She once again reiterates that you need to find out whether there were any more bars distributed to the school, which means you'll need to go to other convenience stores around the campus and ask the employees there whether or not they've accepted any offers to sell these protein bars. You pop your head back into the store and ask the cashier whether this was the only bar that he sold, to which he says that yes, this was the only one.Now that you think about it though, Liza did buy the protein bar a few days ago. If other people had bought them around the same time, any of them who had eaten the bars would have had their brain-eating behavior make news headlines. And the way that the mysterious stalker had been focused on Liza, it seemed probable that she was the only one who had actually consumed a protein bar.Or maybe you were wrong and there was a secret society with multiple people. You send Susan a text saying so, and she agrees with your decision, recognizing how late it is and wishing you a good night."Let's go back and get some sleep, Liza," you tell her. "Er, wait, do you even need sleep?"Liza shrugs. "Well, I'm not tired at all right now, so..."You gape at her. "Seriously? I think that might just be the most unfair part of your abilities."Liza slowly nods, a grin spreading on her face. "I get an extra seven hours a day," she says, laughing delightly. "Now I can procrastinate for an even longer amount of time!"As the two of you walk back to your dorms, you reluctantly part ways, promising to meet up again sometime in the future."I really can't thank you enough," Liza says, giving you a hug. "Today could have been a lot worse if you hadn't helped me in the morning.""Was it only this morning?" you ask jokingly, returning the gesture. "It feels like I've known you for so long already."With another round of goodbyes, you begin the walk back to your dorm alone, wondering if you should invite her to the end of finals party with your friends. Although you're not sure how much alcohol it'd take to get her drunk...When you get back, Alice is sitting at her desk, headphones on, and staring at her laptop in what is probably a last-minute attempt at cramming, with quite a few energy drinks neatly stacked around herself. Say what you want about Alice being a shut-in, but she was probably the neatest shut-in you had ever seen. You're done studying, so you just head directly to the bathroom and prepare for bed. As you lie down and pull your blankets over yourself, you realize that you have a few things that you need to take care of in the week ahead of you.(1/2)
(2/2)You're going to:>Make a bank account (2 hrs)>Spend time with Liza (1 day or more)>Spend time with Alice (1 day or more)>Spend time with your other friends (1 day or more)>Monitor rumors and such around school through social media networks and ask around (1hr)>Make sure to visit all of the campus convenience stores (1 day)>Practice your powers (Variable time)>Write-in.(You can choose multiple, just specify the amount of time, and put them in the order you want to do em)
>>40422682>studystudystudy (6 hours)Finsaltomorrowbeenbusywithzombiegalhaven'tstudiedohnoohnoBank account would be good too.
>>40422676I'm sorry, I'm afraid my mind went in lewd directions for this conversation.>>40422682...since I am phone posting I think I'll wait for someone else's vote and back it.
>>40422682>Make a bank account (2 hrs)>Spend time with your other friends (1 day)>Spend time with Liza (1 day) on the same day as>Make sure to visit all of the campus convenience stores (1 day)
>>40422682Ahh! It turns out things happened while I was asleep!>make a bank account>spend time with our other friends (we have other friends?)>monitor rumours about school etc (we can ask friends about this too!)>ask Lisa if she can help check in at some of the other convenience stores to look out for the bars because we're lazy a bit
>>40422682>Make bank>Rumour mil maybe practice powers at the same time via increasing our hearing/perceptions?>Spend time with Caroline>Check stores
>>40422714>>spend time with our other friends (we have other friends?)Caroline, the Amazon shaman/fortuneteller(?)
>>40422729>>40422714Ah, well I mentioned earlier, but yes you have another friend group that was your friend group before meeting Caroline and Liza. Said friend group included Alice, and was also the same friend group that is making plans for an after-finals party.
>>40422682How many.days have we got to fill?
>>40422682>>Make a bank account (2 hrs)>Practice your powers (The rest of what is left)>Monitor rumors and such around school through social media networks and ask around (1hr)
>>40422729That sounds like fun!If we're going to be an information agent, we need a network of advice-things! And we need to delegate some stuff like some sort of spider with web, or a fae queen wrapped in courtly intrigue. Also I don't want us to show our hand quite so visibly on campus. Spreading out the questioning helps avoid people picking up on us as a weirdness magnet - while whichever bad guy is sending stalkers at us may already know who we are, no need to spike interest in us.
>>40422682>>40422696Use our powers to STUDY ALL THE THINGS what could possibly go wrong
>>40422757Would you like a list?
>>40422767Come on, don't be such a spoilsport. The dice gods love us!
>>40422682Well Similar didn't get an answer on how many days we have, just take the first X if relevant...Tomorrow :>Make a bank account (2 hrs)>Spend time with AliceDay 2:>Make sure to visit all of the campus convenience stores (1 day)>Practice your powers (6 hours)Day 3:>Spend time with your other friends>Monitor rumors and such around school through social media networks and ask around (1hr)Day 4:>Spend time with Liza>Practice your powers (6 hours)Day 5:>Spend time with Caroline>Study (6 hours)Day 6:>Spend time with Liza>Contact Susan and hear if there are any updates on relevant cases (zombies/Summer)
>>40422793Also I'm very disappointed in anons, such lazy votes are not befitting an autismal hobby like questing. No one even listed per day!
>>40422814Seriously, how are we supposed to git gud?
>>40422814Cause it feels like it's gonna be a time skip or something and I wouldn't be surprised if we eventually do all of them. Jeez, besides sorting by day would also probably be harder on him.
>>40422867You can never git gud, only work towards gud. Only once you realize this will gud come to you.
>>40422793ThanksMonday:>Bank>Alice timeTuesday:>Visiting convenience stores with Liza>Spending time with LizaWednesday:>Install social media onto phone, monitor>Spend time with friends, ask about anything weirdThursday:>Spend the day practicing your powersFriday:>Spend time with Caroline>There isn't really much to study for, just try to spend time with Caroline?Saturday:>Call Susan, ask for update>Party timeSOooo, is this okay? Also, invite Liza to party or no?>Yes>No
>>40422908Sure, sounds good. And yeah we can invite her. Hopefully she doesn't put a new and very homicidal spin on eating someone out in the bathroom, netter watch out for that.
>>40422908Can we float the party idea by Liza and see if she is suspectible? We'd be responsible for our pseudo-dead friend and we'd probably have to be up behind her feelin her ass all the time in case something happens or at least near by in case something happens. That said I'm all for inviting her. Also the rumor mill thing is missing unless it's interspersed with spending time
>>40422908I can dig it
>>40422932Rumor mill thing is just monitoring social media sites, messaging people, talking with friends, and keeping an ear out at all times.
>>40422963So interspersed, okay. Then I accept that itinerary as well.
>>40422908More power time.
>>40422908>>YesBut don't pressure her. She was already getting brain-lust from being in the Gym. A party full of sweaty people crammed together may be too much.
>>40422908Invite and train
>>40422972>>40423039>>40423073>>40423153Ah shit guys, I just freakin fell asleep in my chair. Gonna have to start off the OP with the time-skip next time, sorry. Was hoping to get further along today.I will archive. Thank you all for playing!
>>40423178Awww, alright! Thanks for running!
>>40423178Sure, later. I only caught the start and end but it's been fun! Any idea when you can run again?
>>40423200I'll be pretty busy next week with MY finals and then moving places, so maybe in about a week?
>>40423289I'll look forward to it!
