You don't like the surface. The air is all weird and it's all too bright and everything smells funny. The robed man insists that it's not that bad but you don't believe him. You've stayed on his back as her marched back towards the town, over dirt paths and past wooden markers. He complained at first about how heavy you were but eventually quieted down to simple grumbling. If there's anything nice about this, it's that it's peaceful. You don't feel well, though. Your throat hurts and you keep coughing a bunch, flakes of metal flicking out onto your hand and the man's shoulders. He doesn't say much, though.

Eventually, You get to your destination. The small village you spotted at the entrance of the dungeon is in full view now, and you can see people going about their day, doing whatever it is humans do. The man ducks off to the side, and insists you get down. Reluctantly, you slide off his back and crawl out from under his robe. He searches around in one of his packs, and pulls out a stained, grey-ish cloak, far too big for you. "Just put this on," He says, whispering and glancing over his shoulder to make sure no one looks. He helps you put it on, wrapping it around you and pulling the string tight, checking to make sure it won't fall off. "Just hold my hand, and keep close." He's nervous as always, but he's turned very serious. It's worrying you a bit.

-Cont-
>>
He leads you into the town proper, sticking off to the side and trying to stay out of sight. You don't feel well at all among all these people. You can't help the coughing, though, and you get a few looks- but surprisingly most people just pass you by. A few people stop you two, asking the alchemist who you are, and he explains it away, calling you his 'Niece', whatever that is- And saying that you're very sick and need to get back to his place right away. He's really rushing through the place, but the stops are getting more frequent, and you're starting to feel worse the deeper you get into here. The amount of people, the smell of it all- it makes your head spin, and you start getting horrible pains in your stomach. You view hazes over a few times, noises drowned out into mindless noise as you're simply dragged along. You think you need to lay down.

>Just lay down on the ground where you are. (Collapse.)
>Slip away from the robed man and run down an alley, it seems quieter there.
>Tug on the man's sleeve try to get him to pick you up.

Rolling is a basic 1d100, best of three, with crits.

I sometimes get a bit fumbly and don't know what I'm doing, so apologies in advance!

Running down the ally is stupid even for a socially retarded mimic. And collapsing isn't very fun.

Effort is hard, rest is easy. And we don't seem to really grok "society".

Don't know why we started following this guy, but we might as well find out where he's taking us now that we're here.

Don't forget the puppy eyes as well.

Suppose I'll call that there. Looks like we're getting the alchemist's attention! Writing.

Also, Hi. How are you all doing? Hope you'll enjoy the quest.

Unfortunately I can't stay to vote, but I'm looking forward to reading this in the archives.

Pretty fine OP.
Enjoyed the first two threads, hoping to enjoy the third as well.
>>
>>40392661
I'm doing good OP just bought bloodborne
>>
What perks did we get last time for leveling up? I'm assuming gentleness since there's a definite lack of screaming and angry guards.
>>
>>40392808
I think the general consensus was gentleness and speaking. I mean...I didn't do an exact count, but I'm pretty sure that's about right.
>>
>>40392828
11 for Gentleness and 10 for Quick Learning
>>
You reach up and tug on the man's sleeve, trying to get his attention as he rushes through. It's very loose, though, and simply pulling isn't catching his attention. You open your mouth and force out a sound, the usual almost grating metal growl you've experienced before instead replaced by a girlish squeaking whine. He stops, for a moment, to look over and down at you, tilting his head. "What? Is something wrong?" You make some more whining noises and tag at his arm, hopping a little to get the idea across. It takes him a moment, but he shakes his head quickly. "What? Do you have any idea how much you weigh? I can't-" He trails off as you pout, eyes wide and sad as you pout. He grumbles. "Fine! Just hold on...."

He kneels down, and hesitates for a moment, before wrapping his arms around you and heaving, grunting as he hefts up your weight. He leans back a bit and you push your face into his shoulder, trying to use the layers of fabric to muffle the smell as you hold onto him again. He tries to ignore the looks he gets and continues walking. You aren't entirely aware of what's happening during the trip, your senses all muffled and your head swimming. Eventually, he gets to where he is going, and you can hear a door opening and slamming shut as everything gets a bit darker. He places you down in a chair and you get a good view of where you are.

-Cont-

The chair your sat in is a familiar wood, and to you, it's incredibly comfy. You practically melt into it, and cast you gaze around the room, the relatively dimness easy on your eyes. The place isn't very organized. Books, various ingredients, and bottles of multi-colored liquids cover almost every surface. Desks and chairs are the majority of furniture, consisting of what is probably the Alchemist's work space. The man himself is scampering about the room collecting things, mumbling some prayer to himself. On the table in front of you, he scatters some different metals for you and places down a burner of some kind, putting some strange herb inside and lighting it. The smell it gives off makes you feel much better, and your mind clears.

Finally, The alchemist bends down and pulls up a loose floorboard, pulling a particular book from it. It's covered in strange markings and bound in some odd looking skin. He sits down at a desk and pours over the book, waving you off. "I need to look into something, Feel free to do whatever you want, just don't break anything." He grumbles.

>Write in suggestions for what to do!
(Apologies, but today isn't my day. Besides, I think this particular scenario would work better if I left it open-ended. I'm not quite sure where this is going.)

Yep... just, sleep in our default chest form. The alchemist probably wants to harvest some adhesive from us but we don't know that.

>>
>>40393126

Check the metals he scattered around.
>>
>>40393126
We were coughing metal, and metals seemed to help us, so I guess we can just carry a bag of metal flakes to munch on.
>>
>>40393613
That was probably us shedding metal shavings on our human guise due to 'Gentleness' aka humanoid mimicry.
>>
Your eyelids sag a bit, and you yawn- causing the alchemist nearby to shudder- and wiggle about in this chair. It is a very comfy chair. He probably won't mind if you go to sleep. But first....You take a little nibble of the back seat of the chair, and it tastes...well, like wood. There's nothing really special, but....

>New form unlocked: Really comfy wooden chair!

With that done, you shift, and are vaguely aware of the alchemist suddenly getting very interested as you hide into your chest. Comforted by the cramped space and darkness, you curl up to drift off to sleep. You don't dream. When you awake, your aches and pains are gone, but something feels different. Gently lifting the lid of your chest you poke your head out, and glance around.

You're in a basement of some kind, in the middle of a bunch of red circles and other assorted symbols. Unlit candles are scattered about at the edge, and the circle itself appears to have been written in...Is that blood? It smells like blood. But it's glowing softly, casting a dim glow around the room. Above, you can hear stomping and movement on wooden floorboards, and muffled voices. The robed man is nowhere in sight. There's something that looks like a door near the corner, but it's only smooth wood, no handles to speak of. Shelves cover most of the walls, but you can't quite tell what's on them from the darkness.

Getting up, you can't help but feel at ease. It feels a bit like the dungeon, again. Stepping over the circle you wander about a bit, there's not many places to go.

>Look closely at the circle and it's symbols. Does it seem familiar to you?
>Search the bookshelves on the walls for anything useful.
>Try to find a way out.
>Write in?

If you think of any small actions that wouldn't require a full post, feel free to suggestion them and I'll give a short description of the result.

Can we hear anything from the muffled voices? Or at least identify if one of the voices belongs to the alchemist?

Check how the candles taste and mess up the blood drawings if they seem bad. What is the floor made of?

Also, mimic a scroll.

Subtly break the circle. Nothing bad has ever happened because of a broken ritual summoning circle.

Well, It seems like a lot of circle staring, first off. Then maybe licking and a bit of searching. Gimme a d100...twice. One for the circle one for searching afterwords. Best of three for both of them, and stuff.

I probably should've just said 2d100.

At any rate, I'm really sorry if my quality has taken a dip here, I'm really not feeling well right now and it's difficult to keep focus at the moment. I'm considering cutting the thread short to go lay down.

Lazily peering out of the narrow slit of your protective casing you take in the room with a sense of idle curiosity, half lidded eyes scanning for anything that might fill a hole in your stomach. You're surrounded by what is either a somewhat kinky yet affordably decadent DIY sex dungeon decor drawn in menstrual blood or the result of some delusional cultist's mad obsession with otherworldly powers, if the latter the question then becomes where those delicious dead orphan parts are being hidden.

A quick once over reveals no obvious mutilated bodies poorly hidden inside a conveniently placed sack, much to your dismay. Your stomach aches with renewed vigor, thus is the life of a mimic. Still sampling the blood couldn't hurt, it probably won't do shit but what else do you have to do down here except sit and brood over your current lack of starving orphan sacrifices...hmm... maybe that guy upstairs could help you on that front.

Emerging from the chest form you squat like a starved north Korean defector attempting to use a flushable toilet, the blood looks fresh, invitingly fresh actually, still bright red. You lean down and take a lick, savoring the sweat taste of living fluid, oh wow, it actually tastes pretty good... it's filling in any case going by the declining pain in you- why has your tongue gone numb?

Indeed, there's something freaky going on with your mouth piece, something... suddenly your tongue retracts violently downwards making you look like a constipated frog who just saw a midget on stilts fighting a unicorn, which is to say a tad bit confuzzled and a fair bit uncomfortable...w-was the blood poisoned? can mimic's even-
>>
>>40397435
-cont-

Pain suddenly and violently overpowers your existential asshole mimic apathy, a shiver travels down your spine and you go into convulsions, head hitting the floor with a dull thud. You can stop your arms from shaking and a new feeling over takes you, panic? despair? fuck if you know but you think you can detect a hit of "well shit" in there. it feels like your guts rupture and you shit yourself, which is impressive considering a mimic doesn't have a digestive tract, instead, like an old person with Parkinson being grossly and unethically over fed with milk and honey you become vaguely aware of liquidated material pooling out of your spamming jaw, it's heavy, cold like metal, you feel it dripping down from your eyes.

Oh god your eyes, your vision is blurring, you think your face might be melting, you...your face...what? It's getting progressively harder to think now and your entire body is going numb, the last thing you are consciously aware off is a wet feeling all around you before you fade out.

-5 minuets later-
A significantly paler little blade faced monstrosity sits up from a pool of magically liquidated metal. Congratulations you are now john carpenters The Thing.
