Sorry for starting this late had a really fucking shitty week. Like goddamn and this is by my standards so its really saying something.

Anyway last time we dealt with the tech bandits, somehow someone snuck through our defenses and then shortly after escaped. Meanwhile the bots are fighting some unknown faction near the volcano and we dispatched the judge to acquire the means to safely/legally access the nearby black site. We had assumed the Judge would take awhile with low chances of success...we were wrong on both counts.

"So...Commander WHY did you send the Judge on such a suicide mission of impossible difficulty?"

"Simple because I want access without having to deal with the bots."

"...Still its a BLACK site for fucks sake."

"Don't tell me you have forgotten."

"Forgotten what?"

That was when a new voice interrupted "There is no escaping Justice." With that the Judge appeared and placed down some cards before the two."These two thing are the overrides and access keys."

"b..bu....but...but how," asks a stupefied Quartermaster.

"...I thought you would of taken a lot longer then this," mumbles a shocked commander.

Acquired Legit Access to Blacksite
Black Bots outer guards are no longer hostile to forces.

I ended up homeless again. Got pretty much de facto disowned by my family instead of unofficially is pretty apparent and what remained of my remaining so called friends have completely stopped caring whether I am dead in ditch somewhere or not. Ended up sorta 'moving' and ended up with one of the two people who haven't entirely disowned me. Problem is one of them will eventually join the rest and I'll end up on the streets again. Meanwhile the second one is sorta...ending up siding with the first and isn't really sure what to make of everything. Oh and it turns out I overestimated my health. As its literally impossible for me at this moment to be able to work and the system hates me. Not to mention the ongoing decay(which as slowed) but instead I am winding up with lesser and more easily depleted energy reserves.

Unless something changes soon I will either bite it as I promised myself long ago to not suffer a slow agonizing death and that I would end it early on my own power when I am still capable of it. or stuck trying make a deal with a not so figurative devil in order to stand a chance in hell. The price is however been so steep that no matter how bad things got over the years I have always hesitant and pushed it back. After all I went through I wasn't exactly eager to pay the price or go back...

Sadly unless something changes those are my two and only options unless an opportunity presents itself.

We will need fire power, more tech people and back up to take this blacksite by force as well as keep the loot. Less we wish to have the same problem with the looters.

Heroes dispatched...but as they were sent forth they unexpectedly had to go through a hellish battlefield. As suddenly without warning the 'looters' attacked and aimed to secure certain locations. Locations of which the bots REALLY didn't want them to capture so the fighting was vicious and consumed the entire volcano. Even the surrounding area was not spared as the fighting would often spill out. If they weren't heroes it would of been doubtful that they could of made it through but alas they did succeed in doing so. However the last transmission we got from them was this upon entry of the blacksite.

This seems like rather. . .small conditions for a win. I mean, we've done one of each before without winning, supressed bandits, owned a black site, formed a pack.

In fact that just sounds like the beginning of a real potential. Bringing life and caravan trade back into the region, civilization and law and order, setting up a city, now THAT would be a win worth winning!

Any one of those is actually pretty goddamn hard...and don't even get me started on the hidden ones. I don't fuck around with win conditions which is why its so rare to see one activated. They are hard to achieve and meant to allow the players to leave their civs alive along with being in a better condition then before. Of course you could always just not give as shit about life or death and just enjoy the ride. That is what I do but I still have to include some win conditions though just in case.

Hidden ones can be broken into roughly the following.

The harder it is the more obvious.
The easier it is the harder it will be to find.

Tribals and Snipers, work together and start picking off their advanced scouts and laying down targets for the heavy artillery from the Tower. Focus on any scouts or AA guns they have.

Everyone else get ready.

Our scouts attempted to lay down fire upon their surprisingly few scouts and also lack of AA...it was really rather strange. Soon though our forces luck ran out when suddenly out of no where they started to drop dead without warning...and their remains was blown to bits. When we tried to figure out where it came from after a decent body count we found that it was all coming from one figure.

Even aircraft were blown out of the sky by this guy and when he ran out of ammo instead of just going back to get more he leaped on a aircraft driving it into the ground near his resupply point and went right back to it.

That sole figure managed to harass our forces and hold us back long enough for the rest of the army to properly prepare/situate itself.

Luckily by that time the commander and judge made it out of the blacksite. Sadly though the scouts clearly suffered from losses but hey at least some were still alive.

Looks like the Bandits have decided to strike first. The rest of our allies are mobilized but held in reserve and we'reor, at least bleed them out, going to try and hold the line until we're at an opportune time to use them.

Hmm, that hero is gonna be tricky, but ultimately it's their army we need to worry about more.

Even supposing we can't kill the hero, we should still make plans to deal with the army.

More than likely, they will use their hero to stop any attempt to delay their forces, or use him as a one man skirmisher.

Still, even a power hero isn't invincible, as shown when the Didrickson twins were overcome by an army of mooks. So there is that.

Our next plan should involve using a feint to appear like we're going to try and harras the enemy army, when our real goal is to bring out the enemy hero. Once we do have him out, we'll use whatever we can to pin him down and then when he naturally responds that will create an opening for us.

I still do want to wait on the Commander's suggest though before posting out a true action plan, as it might be very relevant.

Or it might be useless, and we make a plan anyway.

Which is why YOU'LL be the one to enact it!"

>Action
Genltmen, we're going to get ourselves a hero today.
And we're going to trap it.

Quartermaster, get that shield operational again.
>Activate: Sweet Sweet Ressuply
We're going to need it.

Now, scouts and snipers, your new task is to try and attack from a different angle, and make it appear like we're attempting to bypass the enemy hero and inflict casualties directly on the enemy with hit and run attacks, leading them into traps if they try and follow and pursue. This should be enough to warrant them sending their hero. If he shows his face, you pull back, just like a real hit and run attack. He will no doubt pursue you.

Next, Commander, you and the Elite Squads are to move in once the scouts retreat and attack the hero directly. Make it appear like this was planned, like we wanted to bait him out and strike at him.

We need him to engage you.

Whether or not you can actually take him down is irrelevant, that's not the point. You are to appear beaten and then retreat with the elites, and if my guess is right he won't let his quarry get away. Once he see's that our best is retreated, he will follow you without fear of reprecussion.

Lead him and draw him back and high tail it back to the base. Once he's within range, we'll activate the shields.

That's when we'll "apprehend" this super criminal. Shields up, and activate
>No One Escapes Justice
So that he doesn't get away and we'll mob him all at once behind our shield."

"She died?"

"Aye Big Boss along with the faction of hers."

"This is bad because?"

"She was the only one capable of keeping the Super functional when she bit it...it will soon follow."

That was when the boss face paled greatly.

"...So it would seem we are all dead men. There is not a chance in hell Command Center will forgive us for this gross trangression."

"It would indeed appear that way."

"...rally the troops and leave me. I need to think and talk to some people."

"Understood sir."

-----
"What is it you wanted?"

"I am sure you have heard."

"...yes."

"We are all dead but we wont do so without fighting. I and others will join the Super for one last attack and there we will have our glorious last shot. That way we wont can somewhat make up for our failure and give some hope to those...that you will lead."

"WHAT?"

"Our faction will die either by the hands of the enemy who wiped out the tek bandits or by our own superiors. However if we pull our cards right there will be some survivors and that is what I am aiming for."

"Survival?"

"Yes but not my own. After all this happened when I was in charge and it was my watch. Obviously I stand as much a chance as the super does! Which is obviously none at all."

Shield is operational and the rod is in place. Not to mention it has an ungodly amount of batteries, reactors, and generators hooked up to it...seriously where the hell did they all come from?

Sadly while the plan was good the baiting failed as instead the enemy used their own counter snipers. Instead their hero charged straight at our forces causing a wave of utter devastation before our elites and commander could reach him. Reached him they did but it did catch them off guard. As the enemy hero seemed to care very little for his health and safety as he goes berserk trying to take down as many with him as possible. Considering he is a super soldier this can be a great many. Thankfully however he seemed weakened for some reason.

Our elites however were soon devastated and when they retreated...he did indeed pursue them. However he wasn't after them. Instead his target was the Commander for whom he was howling as he charged.

Luckly he was so blinded by his rage and anger he failed to completely notice the booby trap that was then promptly sprung on him. Not even he could break out even as he beat down on it and was zapped for it.

Alas while the enemy hero was causing all that ruckus the army behind him also advanced and took advantage of the opening attempting to split our forces up and kill as many as possible.

When they noticed the shields naturally they attempted to head towards there and release him.

That was however when things went wrong...

A SUPER SOLDIER NEVER FAILS TO ATTAIN THEIR OBJECTIVE! NOW PAY YOU WHO WAS RESPONSIBLE FOR IT ALL."

With that the shield flickered and...somehow a entrance was forced through. Breaking through the barrier and holding it open despite the grotesque and outragous amount of damage the super soldier made it his way through and crushed the responding Judge who was sent flying into the tower before falling to the ground not moving.

>Judge has fallen into critical condition.

After that he charged right at the commander killing all those who stood in his way and when he reached him tearing him apart with a smile suddenly he flickered before a flash pure desolation erupted as the super soldier self destructed.

Where previously our army held firm against the desperate would be rescuers and upon seeing the Judge being taken out with a single blow along with the death of the commander naturally our forces wavered.

So the enemy in anguish upon seeing the death of the super took it out on us and took advantage of the precious gift they gave to them. So they fell upon our forces with a vengeance not like anything before we have ever had to face. They were like crazed cultists or zealous fanatics with how they went about it.

Alright, we were prepared for this. Time to activate emergency fallback procedures.

>>40396275
Everyone, start pulling back toward the tower in a fighting back retreat, step by step we need to make it look like we're doing our best to hold our ground. Once everyone is inside, set the Lightning rod to overload and divert all power from the shields to it, we need to make a literal storm to slow them down. Make every inch of ground hurt.

Get the Commander's body and the Judge through the tunnels we prepared for this scenario and get them out saftey, and ready the building to blow just like we planned and prepared before.
Above all cost, protect hold and protect the path to tunnel to the last man while our army retreats through it.

We need to draw them into the tower as far as possible.

Once they're inside, and most of the army has retreated through the tunnels, activate the explosives and bring the building down on them.

Hopefully by then we've held out long enough for our allied reserves to arrive. All of them. Between the electrical set to haywire, the explosions taking out the ones we drew into the Tower, and being surrounded on all sides by the full might of Paramilitary and Military Trained Survivors, we will close the fist on them.

Forces have pulled back before the onslaught of the bandit army. They eagerly kept up pursuit though and unleashed barrages of artillery focusing on both our troops and tower. Meanwhile an electric surge was unleashed. It wasn't even close to a proper electric storm but it was still enough to give the enemy trouble and even kill a few of them. That is until it abruptly exploded due to too much power. Meanwhile though they stopped at the tower and put down some strange stockpiles before leaving.

...right into an awaiting ambush of a paramilitary faction and survivors. They were however smart and detonated the tower destroying it and a chunk of the super highway that then too partially collapsed. During the chaos they attempted to flee and escape the ambush.

Most of them however died.

Tek Bandits down. And now the Paramilitary is down.

We have WON. And we have great causes for gladness, and great cause for grief.

Collect all the wounded and the dead, treat the wounded and bury the dead with honors. Bandit or ally alike.

The Commander and the Enemy Hero also get buried, with honors.

Host a victory celebration, Quartermaster I need one more thing from you
>Activate: Sweet Sweet Supply - Booze Edition
Then you can take a break and join the party. I know we've been overworking you, so you deserve a reward after today.

Then, we commemorate this day as a time to rejoice the survivors, remorse for the loss, and remember those who have died. Even prisoners get a share in their cells.

"A toast, to the Battle. Now two Raider clans have fallen, the Tek and the Paramilitary. We have proven we might challenge them and be victorious.

A toast to great heroes lost, to the Brave Commander and even the Rival Hero, who gave their lives fighting for their cause. Make no mistake, our cause is just, but never doubt the tenacity of the foe such as this.

A toast to greater times ahead. To YOU, our allies, the survivors and the military remnants and Government remnants. We have worked together to make this place that much safer for all our children, and show than when we come together nothing, not armies, not heroes or villains, will stop us from surviving, from thriving, from showing that no matter the cost, we will not surrender the future of our children and ourselves.

A toast!"

Start up proper negotiations between our councilmen.

We've taken down the two most powerful Bandit forces there, and no doubt the others are seeing this and preparing to unify. The paramilitary responded to us taking down the tek bandits already.

We cannot allow ourselves to be disunited now when we need it the most.

We've shown what we can do when we get together, beaten two of the great clans, taught the survivors how to defend themselves. We must work together. Now than later!

Meanwhile the government remnant was the only one who were unhappy for some reason guess with their lack of 'position' also being the ones who would be in the deepest shit should anything go down considering their location.

However the other two the think tank remnant and the megacorp remnant would agree only if certain conditions are met.

For the megacorp

1 they wanted training for their security personnel
2 they would like samples of tech to reproduce.

In exchange they would accept membership and offer favorable terms to pact members.

The think tank requested the following terms

1 protection
2 the pact would help them deal with the blacksite

In exchange they offer their technological expertise and some of their tech.

The government remnant insists on the following

1 population exchange between the different remnants
2 training
3 gear and equipment preferably advanced in origin

The survivors and paramilitary don't require anything to join apparently they are happy as is.

They all agree to the terms and the pact is officially formed. Meanwhile troops and forces were sent out to commence with the training. Especially as the bandit forces mobilized in unison...problem is they weren't expecting or were prepared for such a united front. They were just expecting to deal with a few paramilitary with allies but not this.

So the training worked splendidly.

>>
Rolled 26 (1d100)

>>40410592
However due to my...condition I am just got to take it as a true victory and end it. So here is the prologue.

------
Though the Commander perished before living to see it the peoples of this stretch of high way were able to unify and the greatest/strongest bandits were dealt with. This encouraged the factions enough to believe in the pact and working together.

Together they were able to deal with the remaining bandits becoming the top local power besides the zombies whose real power was further northward. The black site meanwhile was broken into and weakened. This would later be exploited by the now veteran pact members who had trained and finished dealing with the many bandits. Together they were able to somewhat 'deal' with the black site. Though they the strongest in their local neck of the woods this didn't mean they could relax. As there were still threats outside it and the problem of zombies. Together however it was much easier to deal with.

The Judge worked with the paramilitary faction who wasn't us and arranged for proper peace keeping duties that we were more familiar with. So the Aegis grew to be the army that protected and enforced the laws in the homeland while the other paramilitary faction kept its eye on the borders and outside threats concentrating on them instead.

The think tank with its goal completed offered their tech expertise to pact members. The megacorp meanwhile started producing goods in mass while the government remnant slowly left their tower and worked on the installations. Survivors meanwhile spread the tribals slowly moved away as this got more 'civil' that made them uncomfortable.

The bots and mutants meanwhile were thought to have perished protecting the black site if this wasn't so its believed they have left probably going north or south away from the pacted stretch of highway.

You can. the one of the options for rip off. Its just due to it already being started I wont be able to include the full benefits of victory was they were slated for game start. They are so strong that even the 'harder' modes become much easier to do.

Basically the options are this
>Rip Off
-One Piece
-Starcraft
-VRMMO

-Fantasy
-Heroic
-Sci Fi
-Post Apoc
-Modern Fantasy (open)

The black site was an ingenously engineered and hidden facility for research regarding metal and meat. They had two supers oriningally who specialized in each working in there along with their own teams and additional personnel.

The zombies were driven away by radiating energies of the black site and or very grave threats that even they can't help but notice.

The 'looters' who attacked the black site and bots.

>>40411429
I listed the options. Since rip offs appear to be in more favour MMO is well will be more like dark souls in terms of difficulty due to my playstyle so I'll admit that.

Starcraft is gonna be around the time of the first one where you play either a colonist, UED survivor, or Protoss. I was thinking about a zerg option but I would of said i haven't figured it out yet but suddenly I got hit with a stroke of genius. So that is now an option.

One piece i am being slow at because due to thta already having started I have yet to determine the adjusted rewards for it yet due to it being just one thing vs the many...obviously I would of figured out the many part first.

Originals is the hardest to explain but the boons are powerful enough it would make any choice much easier. Fantasy is obviously my own brew of it, explained heroic already, sci fi...you have seen my sci fi already, and the notorious post apoc.

The one with the greatest mystery is modern fantasy which occupies an interesting niche and place within my stuff. Its literally magical modern got guns, magic, monsters, and more!

It has yet to adjust into full blown heroics mode but that conversion is already well on its way as the SCIENCE! picks up and interbreeding really starts swinging.

So they are ALL interesting!
>>
Rolled 32 (1d100)

It depends.

Literally.

Some species can easily crossbreed while for others its near impossible. Humans aren't actually considered all that great for true crossbreeding purposes they are about above average at best towards it.

However there are some serious mosconeptions about that appeared due to crossbreeding with species who are VERY good at it and finally the number of beings who rely upon humanity to reproduce for their own kind in a more parasitic way.

This led to the false believe that humans are actually pretty good at it.

>Que genie breaking into a cold sweat

Those are some...very very nasty monsters. Humans commonly get them confused though falsely believing that all of the more advanced forms or evolutions are actually the 'nobles'. Precious few among them know the truth of the matter...monsters though the monsters do.

Monster nobles come in two forms chosen and non chosen. Otherwise known as 'noble' or 'royal' among the non monsters who are in the know. There is supposedly even another mythic stage above royal class.

I don't want to give out too much info but damn those things even make me nervous.

nope.

Magic is innate to all some however are better at it than others but this is true for all varieties.

Only if you change yourself that way later but be warned the more you change away from it the greater the distance the greater the decrease.

So say your a royal who changes itself upward to a crossbred. While you can now learn a great deal many more skills and enjoy better training in exchange it will utterly devastate your monstrous abilities/powers and vice versa can also happen.

How does the learning of one detract the gained experience of the other?

Are you basically saying exercise makes you dumber, and reading makes you weaker?
>>
>>40418464
Both can learn but the more monstrous you are the increasingly hampered you will be to use stuff like techniques, tools, and skills. This doesn't mean monsters don't have their own skills or abilities though but they have varying deals of difficulty with using stuff like what humans come up with. Whether they be combat skills, forging, or whatever.

In exchange however they gain access to greatly increased power, abilities, and even their own special skills.

However those like humans will also try to earn such things...and can also become rather monstrous with work.

So how do the monsters make it so that others cannot mimic it?

They can at a bare minimum are capable of evolving.

The stronger/stranger ones are even capable of stealing evolutions from others and even designing new ones!

That no matter how hard others try they cannot mimic. Just as the monsters are incapable of mimicing certain perks those like humans, animals, and beasts enjoy.

At best you can get mimic it but in all likelyhood it will be nothing more than a cheap knock off compared to the real thing.

That is what makes a real monster a monster. Its not their power, skills, or even abilities. Rather its their ability to rapidly increase in power, change their form, and create entirely new abilities/powers all without the need to train.

All a monster really needs is time and food.
>>
>>40418524
>This doesn't mean monsters don't have their own skills or abilities though but they have varying deals of difficulty with using stuff like what humans come up with
Hrmm, this is tricky.

How about stuff other monsters come up with?
So it's just more difficult, but not entirely impossible?

How about a Warboss.

They are not only the STRONGEST of all orks with mighty monstrous abilities, powers, and special skills.

But they usually are also the most SKILLED, weilding their terrible weapons with brutal cunning and craft.

They have both, though it took them years of fighting.

Is that possible in this setting?

Where would you rate such a beast?
>>
Rolled 19 (1d100)

>>40418598
Well correction more along the lines of time and energy. Some monsters have no need for food.

>>40418607
To a degree.

A veteran/elite officer variant.

Orks would be somewhere in the top 2. As while limited in monstrous abilities they compensate with things like tech/tools.
>>
>>40418646

You mean either Savage or Crossbreed right?

What would the pro's and con's of being a noble or royal Ork be?
Pro's and Con's of Savage or Crossbreed?
>>
Voting for Savage
>>
Rolled 49 (1d100)

>>40418675
It wouldn't be possible with anything above that.

True monsters become reliant on their evolutionary nature to keep up with skills, training, and tools of others as those things become hampered for them. Even nastier ones rely upon stealing and even inventing new ones at the cost of further hampering their other developments.

Its why monsters look down upon training, tools, and so called ' sorry skills' compared to their abilities and powers. They do respect technique though as even monsters have need and make use of technique.

But what use is a sword when you can evolve yourself some blades that can slice through steal like a hot knife for butter? What about a so called 'sword skill' in comparison to your ability to regenerate and send those vary blades of yours flying at the enemy whenever you so please?

What about those weak bodies that can only become stronger to a degree through training? Even so their development is so much slower then when you just slumber?

Monsters are most monstrous for their abilities than anything else. As only a fraction of their abilities are able to be mimicked.

Rolled 27 (1d100)

>>40418823
Naturally the more 'monstrous' you are the more pronounced those abilities will be at the cost of further hampering the developments related to those things that other 'lesser' lifeforms' rely upon instead to compensate.

And poor compensations at that!

Can't believe you fuckers want the one who can barely evolve or anything. Just get some boosted power in exchange for weakened growth. Savages are the closest to human so they gain the least monstrous benefits most of which they can't even use.
>>
Rolled 19 (1d100)

>>40419297
Shit at times many of them can't even evolve most the time at best only certain periods in their life do they get the potential.

Savages are the weakest in terms ability among monster kind. However it also means they are among the most acceptable outside it.

Which I suppose is especially useful for modern fantasy.
>>
>>40419297

What? Really?

I thought savages were the closest to monstrous.

It and Crossbreed were your two suggestions for starting on the path to the boss archetype

>>
>>40419386
I can't reveal why that is without major setting spoilers.

True monsters can evolve constantly.
Crossbreeds can evolve constantly but only along a certain way.
Savages can only evolve during certain times.
Nobles gain the ability to steal evolutionary benefits.
Royals can invent entirely new evolutions.

>>40419431
They are all roughly equal.

4 savage
3 noble
1 royal

>Be warned the higher the option the easier it is to acquire skills(which things like humans use to compete with besides tools) but the lower the option the more innate power(like a true monster should rely on instead) they will have.
Huh, just reread that and realized I'd been misreading that.

I thought it meant Higher as in "Royals are higher than savages in the heirarchy"

But genie literally meant higher as in "Above" so savage would be "Higher" than royal because it's at the top of the list.

Why steal when you can invent? Even mimic.
>>
>>40419608
Considering being a noble means we'll have to actively go out and steal evo benefits, while Royals can just invent their own to match (and maybe steal) while we get freedom of what we evolve, I'd have to say Royal seems like the better option here.

nvm ROYAL wins!

You have utter shit ability to acquire skills and cannot train for crap! However your monstrous benefits are maximized.

The setting is modern fantasy.

You are the highest caliber monster type.

You start with 1 fate point.

+Victory
+Genie Gift

Grants an additional 2 fate points AND increases you maximum cap from 5 to 6.

Now for completion of the good guy challenge...

Acquired Godly Genie's Gift...which is the following.

A second life...but its no ordinary second life.

Instead it counts as if you are living twice over! So its more like a second living. This will boost EVERYTHING you do and provide a single use free resurrection of your choosing.

you may deny true death a single time and it doesn't even have to be used upon yourself.

In addition it will grant you a second form that you can switch between. These two forms start out the same but will diverge from one another and change depending on what you do while in each form.

Forgot to mention should one form truly perish then you will die too unless that form harbors the ability to regenerate or somehow save itself. If you switch out before that happens then it will slowly recover over time. It will however be slow going unless you switch back to it and recover directly.

I think the name shall be Modern Monster Quest. You will be starting as the lowest level royal class monster. You will suck REALLY badly at anything non monster. You can evolve but more importantly steal perks from prey and even force entire new perks. However the last part is very costly and time consuming.

Be warned depending on your rank and size you can only harbor so much. Higher evolved you can naturally harbor more of it then a lower ranking being. It will also enable you to acquire newer and stronger mutations while speeding up the process. Especially if its of lower rank then you are.

You are an especially exotic type royal class monster who is blessed by fate and chosen by destiny. Its a modern fantasy so tech will be advancing and getting shot is near certain. Monsters such as yourself are now on the decline before the unified onslaught of tech and magic.

Its gotten to the point that even most adventurers have bit it due to what previously sustained them(and yourselves) have also declined. Except for certain games, special sites, and previous domains of monsters are now heralded as 'reserves' for your kind.

These reserves are protected by the humans for their and your use. Precious few true monster domains exist where humans dare not tread much less lay claim to.

At the moment monsters are in a bad spot and it seems it will only grow worse with time...
