Ask Languid Anything: ask.fm/HellbornQM

Your name is Sierra Beckhoff, and you are a hellborn – part mortal, part demon. Ever since you ran into a family of demon hunters, a lot of weird (but cool) stuff has gone down. You’ve battled rogue generals, joined the a baron’s conclave of demonic advisors, and dueled landmasters. You maybe even met a real live dragon – though you’re not a hundred percent on that one. But perhaps most surprisingly, you successfully graduated high school.

Before you can pile in a car and ride into the sunset on your pan-America roadtrip, though, you’ve got a couple loose ends to tie up. You’ve captured the son of one of your baron’s enemies and rescued Lucifer, an emissary of Mardusia, a kingdom in hell and one of your fief’s chief backers.

While Lucifer is still recovering from his ordeal, he is wasting no time with laying on the intrigue. If you’re not misunderstanding anything, it could be that Lucifer’s boss, the Mardusian Archduke, suspects the old Imperiate’s has a surviving heir. Since you’re the heir in question, this might turn out to be important.

--

Lucifer’s eyes flick away from yours before you can really get a read on him.

The only thing you know is that the emissary knows something. Something that maybe you want to keep between you and him.

Xanissil continues her blood healing, inattentive to the conversation at hand – or at least pretending to be inattentive. You can’t tell. “Hey Xan,” you say. “You should go see if Crowther has another bucket of leeches around here.”
>>
>>40344217

“More leeches would be useful,” she notes, glancing back at you. She wipes her hands on her legs, stands, and goes to slip out of the room. “Ensure he doesn’t try to go anywhere,” Xan tells you, pointing an accusing claw at Lucifer before turning out into the hall.

You snigger to yourself at the comment. There’s no question of where Lucifer’s headed. He can barely lie down in a bed. You doubt he’s planning on getting up anytime soon. “Hey. Tatarans are supposed to be all into predicting the future and crap,” you say, watching the demon carefully.

“Many are,” he replies softly.

“Well, if you had to hypothetically predict somebody you might find, what kind of person do you think might be hypothetically predicted?” you ask. You’re not sure if you want to hear the answer, but you need to know if he knows something.

“A demon who watches the future is blind to the present,” says Lucifer. He draws his lips back slightly, revealing a line of many thin, straight teeth. “I expect to find those that find me.”

You get the hint that time. “So you think I found you, is that it? I thought you were here to represent your boss, not bomb people with haikus.”

“I see you also like to cut straight to the heart of things. The Archduke would take a liking to you,” says Lucifer, pausing and closing his eyes again. A moment passes in silence before he speaks again. “I have a secret. Would you like to hear it?”

This isn’t even a question. “Duh,” you say. “Why the hell are you even asking?”

“To build gravitas,” says Lucifer. “Some subjects demand special attention.”
>>
>>40344225

“So?” you say, almost unable to remain seated any longer. Does he know who you are or what?

Lucifer answers slowly, with purpose. “There is something we have in common.”

There is a single lamp in the room, set on the nightstand by the bed. Its light is sufficient for the work you and Xan were doing earlier, but it leaves the corners and far edges of the wall dimly lit, with darkness in the cracks.

You feel it around you, tugging at the edges of your awareness. An indiscernible pull.

The darkness wavers almost imperceptibly, and you feel the influence shivering through your own shadow, giving you chills.

This could be a good thing, or it could be a bad thing.

>Feign ignorance

flood lights?
>>
>>40344700
Probably had something to do with the whole room being filled with floodlights. Sierra gets some kind of defense against light by virtue of being part Infernus, which was further improved by that one VE/IN hybrid upgrade that lets us use our personal shadow under direct light.
>>
>>40344700
There's a few reasons why he wouldn't be able to escape, the room was full of floodlights fucking with any Verwelken stuff he could do, he was extremely injured, and they probably kept him an eye on him the entire time.

He might just not have cornerstepping or other abilities that say "fuck you" to spatial constraints.

You feel your blood run cold. “So I guess this means you saw how I got into that room,” you say. If you weren’t in a rush you might have played it safer, but there’s nothing to do about it now.

“No, but Axos does enjoy the sound of his voice,” says Lucifer.

Is this guy Verwelken? Or does he just know shadow magic? You’re still uncertain, but he does know about you. “Are you here to invite me to the league of shadows or whatever, then?”

Lucifer seems to become more grave. “I do have an invitation to extend to you, yes,” he says simply.

An invitation? “Like. Yours, or Sulkrasph’s?”

“The Archduke’s,” he replies. “He appreciates those with potential and the will to use it.”

You think about this for a second. “Is this some kind of ‘gotta catch them all’ thing your boss has going on?” you ask.

“A succinct summation,” he agrees. “Hellborn of your caliber are a rare breed.”

“Wait. If you’re Verwelken, you could have just walked right out of there on your own,” you say. “Or... not?” You cast your mind back to the details of when you rescued Lucifer. Axos had him shut in a cage, surrounded by floodlights. The lights were meant for you, but they could have been hindering Lucifer’s escape just as much.

“Or not,” says Lucifer.

“But how did they even catch you?” you ask, frowning. “I mean. Bottling up a Verwelken’s not easy.” At least, you don’t think it is, not if they can pull more crap than you can.

“Mermenes aided Axos’s pack with the details,” he replies, “and I decided on discretion over valor. One does not nonchalantly reveal his bloodline to foes.”

“Okay, I’ll give you that one,” you say, “but you’re telling me you’re splitborn Tataran and Verwelken. You shouldn’t have any shadow powers at all. I mean, that’s just something about predenomination and the power of demon blood or whatever. It’s science.”

Lucifer turns his head to look at you, and opens his eyes just a crack. “Is it?”

>Well. Yeah.

“Well, yeah,” you say. But then you feel like you said the wrong thing. “I mean. Isn’t it?”

“It’s not,” he tells you.

“But... how?” you ask. “I mean. Not that that’s not cool, because it totally is, but....” You’re not sure if you can go into detail about the Hallows and stuff, since sometimes demons freak out when you get to that subject. But Isaac was pretty firm about it being impossible. And everything you’ve heard from Waldric and everybody else on the other side of the fence was right there with him.

“Safety can be as simple as convincing the world that you do not exist,” Lucifer explains. “Shadowbloods can threaten powerful interests, which would kindle wrath and fear toward us. The first among our kind decided it best to forgo this type of attention.”

You whistle. “That’s hardcore,” you say, seriously impressed. Shadowbloods all day. Or all night? (-3 Stress: 47)

“What is ‘hardcore’ is how you’ve somehow managed to go from nothing to winding this city and its inhabitants round your claw in nary a year’s time,” says Lucifer.

“What?” you ask, taken aback.

“Perhaps I should elaborate,” says Lucifer. “The Baron is your puppet and considers you a chief asset, you have a compliment of Thultal guarding you night and day, and you have Isaac Hallow waiting on you like you’re his own daughter. These are not the accomplishments of a faceless halfblooded orphan.”
>>
>>40345961

“Uh.” It doesn’t sound exactly right to you – it sounds impressive when he puts it like that, but Lucifer is overestimating your accomplishments. It’s not like you’re issuing orders. And you definitely didn’t plan out where you are right now.

But there’s still the thing about how this guy knows a whole lot more than you think he should. Does Waldric have any idea about this?

“You are a big fish, and San Francisco is a small pond,” says Lucifer. “You will outgrow it.”

>Okay, stop. How the hell do you know all of this? You've been spying on us this whole time?

“You calling me fat?” you ask, scowling at him with mock indignation.

Lucifer has no reply ready for you. “I... am not. It’s a metaphor.”

“Your face is a metaphor,” you say, still scowling. “And excuse me, I am his daughter, so shut up. For somebody who’s done all the research, you really screwed up on that one.” You shake your head and rest your elbows on your knees. “I mean, it’s not like I planned all this crap. It just happens, it’s life, whatever. Why’s it matter to you what I do or where I go? What business is my business to you, huh? You want me to work for your boss or whatever?”

“He wants you on his side, not as an employee, but as a vanguard,” says Lucifer. “I am only a messenger, but yes, I do desire a successful partnership between yourself with Sulkrasph. I believe your interests align.”

“Look. I know... I kind of get the feeling I’ll have to like, go to hell sometime,” you say. “But this place is... I don’t know. Like. It’s not easy, but it’s my home, get it? And my pond look small from the shore, but it’s pretty damn deep when you’re swimming around in it. I mean, I want there to be a place where I make the rules, but I can’t just do everything and rush into stuff,” you explain. “I’m still too smalltime for big things.”

Stopped, with Sierra's assistance an invasion from Hath.

Lucifer seems to be taking about Sierra becoming wasshisface's vanguard.

Vanguard tends to go in front of the army establishing shit.

He may want to step in and crush Waldric and anything else in his way. He already thinks Sierra is a puppet master looking for more power.
>>
>>40347506
From the conversation, it seems more like Sulkrasph wants to de-shittify Halth rather than launch an invasion of Terra.

Considering all of the flowery language going on here, I doubt he's talking about becoming a literal vanguard for an army invasion. He could just mean a similar relationship to what we have with Waldric. I suggest we wait and see what it is he actually wants before agreeing to anything.

We removed just about every reason for him to try to remove us. And we have (really) strong ties to his family-to-be. And we're shit at concealing our feelings, meaning that he's well aware we have no malice or designs on his "throne".
If Waldric removed us he'd loose the Thutaal, Isaac's backing, have trouble at the homefield with the Crowthers and as things seem, even the archduke would loose interest. There is nothing for him to gain by betraying Sierra.
>>
So many things to think about. You’re feeling kind of paralyzed by the decisions. You don’t know this Sulkrasph guy, but it sounds like he can really move stuff. And it’s not a bad thing to have friends in high places, is it? But at the same time, you don’t know what his plans are, and if he’s really legit about the whole deal. “I... I don’t know,” you say. “I mean. Eventually, maybe. Just not exactly this minute. There’s no rush, right?”

“Not yet,” says Lucifer.

You can’t make any plans without more information. “I need to actually meet your boss first,” you say.

Lucifer gives this a moment’s thought. “I will speak to him for you,” he says, his voice waning to something like a whisper. Speaking is an effort. “He seldom sojourns abroad, but he may... be persuaded.”

You nod. “Good.”

At least you think that’s good. Isaac wasn’t super enthusiastic about letting demons come over to terra firma, and from what you know about hellish politics, Sulkrasph’s probably no lightweight. Guy’s probably dangerous if he wants to be. But at the same time, Isaac not wanting demons to come over didn’t stop Meckor and friends, and it sure as hell isn’t stopping Ushologuissa’s peeps from flooding the earth. This might be something more along the lines of a permanent solution.

At your agreement, the last vestiges of Lucifer’s strength seem to give out. Despite all the cloak and dagger stuff, guy’s kind of frail, and he did take a beating. Maybe it’s time to let Xanissil come back and do her thing.

You head to the door, and opening it, find Xanissil sitting on the far wall, sitting cross-legged.

“How long have you been there?” you ask.

She immediately stands. “Not long,” she lies.

You wonder if she was eavesdropping. It’s not like she had her ear pressed to the door, but you weren’t exactly trying to be super quiet or anything. “Well, dude’s all yours, I guess,” you say.

“Will you rejoin us, then?” she asks.

“I should really get going,” you say. “I’ve kept Wolfgang waiting a while already, can’t leave his car back by a crime scene for too long.”

“Ah. Yes,” says Xan, edging into Lucifer’s room.

You watch the Infernus for a moment, judging her sharp features. “What did you hear? And don’t even act innocent.”

Xanissil appears to consider her options for a second before replying. “You will take your proper place as Imperiate over Halth,” she says. “All will attempt to use you as a means to gain power. Some will be starving hounds, beckoning for morsels till they grow impatient and consume you. Others will be leeches, dependent on you for strength and sustenance, useful tools in purifying your vital essences.”

“So what’s Sulkrasph, then?” you ask. “Leech or hound?”

Xan’s face goes flat, and her feelings jumble. “Your Terror,” she says, bowing slightly and heading into Lucifer’s room.

A minute later you come out into the entryway, finding Moriah and Wolfgang chatting by the door.

“-absolutely terrible,” says Mori. She looks over at you. “How were the leeches?” she asks.

Wolfgang groans. “Come on. Let’s just go.” He is not a fan, sadly.

>Surprisingly versatile as far as leeches go, I guess.
>Slimy, yet satisfying.

You will sate Moriah’s curiosity. “Slimy, yet satisfying,” you say.

Moriah smiles faintly. “Way to go, Simba.”

“That movie teaches morals,” says Wolfgang, trying not to make a face at all the continued leech talk.

You note the exclusively black outfit Mori’s got going on today. “You going somewhere tonight?” you ask.

“Maybe,” she says, mysteriously.

“Well, it’s a trick question, because we’re planning the roadtrip tonight, so you’re going to Vikrama’s at 8:00 PM, comprende?”

Moriah fiddles with her gloves, seeming distracted.

You scoff. “C’mon! Can’t plan anything without you,” you say.

She still seems hesitant.

“Be there or be square,” you threaten. “Seriously. We need your input. You’re coming on this thing.”

Wolfgang gives his sister a look, and she crumbles.

“I might be a little bit late,” she says, “but I’ll be there.”

You nod, satisfied. “All right. And by the way, what’s absolutely terrible?”

“Magician problems,” says Wolf. “She has it under wraps, don’t you, Moriah.”

“I’ll see you at Vikrama’s,” says Moriah, leaving the door and heading upstairs back to her room. You feel a tenseness from her.

“Everything cool?” you ask, kind of confused.

Wolfgang smiles, though it’s a little strained. “It’s going that way,” he says. “Just something Moriah’s been dealing with came up again. She ever talk about her shade-handling?”

“A little,” you say.

He nods. “She’s got it under control. She just needs time,” he says.

“I’m still not sure what you’re talking about,” you reply.

He shrugs. “We’ve got cars to retrieve, I’ll save the arcane lectures for Xanissil,” he says. “Let’s go.” He snaps up his staff and walks out, still dressed like he’s just got back from the office, except sans jacket.
>>
>>40349658

You head out after him. Sun’s still shining strong, but it’s windy, so the city’s relatively cool. Nice thing about living by the ocean.

“Wait. How exactly are we getting to your car, anyway?” you ask. Your motorcycle’s neat, but it’s not exactly easy to get somebody on the back of it. Like. You could, but it would require being very close. Like. Very, very close.

Wolfgang stops at the curb, staff still in hand. “I was thinking we’d take my way,” he says. “Unless you want the highway?”

Well... maybe it’d be kind of cool to take Wolfgang out on your bike. But maybe if he’s hinting at what you think, you can go all Jumper and start zipping around town? Though you know Moriah’s not really a fan, so maybe that’s not the smartest idea if it's a traumatic form of transporation.

All you know is that you’ve never teleported anyplace before, and you’re not one to back down from an opportunity when it involves fucking teleportation.

“Let’s apparate,” you say, coming over and standing by Wolfgang. “Why ride a motorcycle when you can ride a wolf?” Wait. You didn’t just say that. You snicker to yourself through the accidental awkwardness, hoping Wolfgang doesn’t read too much into anything. “Or uh. Heh. Zing.” (+3 Stress: 50)

“You’re a nut,” Wolfgang says, smirking at you.

“What kind of nut are we talking? Like. Pistachios or what?”

“Whatever kind they give you on airlines,” he says. “You know those little packets that always run out before you’re done?”

“Why those?” you ask.

He arches an eyebrow. “Because I can never get enough of you,” he says, smirking.

Ugh. So bad. The worst. You grin and resist the urge to hit him. (-3 Stress: 47)

Wolfgang points to the top of a building at the end of the road. “We’re going to go over there,” he says. “The way my spatial manipulation works is easier if I have line of sight.”

You size him up, trying to see exactly how you should approach this. “So... is this a proximity thing or what?”

“It goes fast,” says Wolfgang, holding out his arm. “Just hold on.”

Tentatively, you latch onto his arm, making sure you have a firm hold on it. It’s definitely not going anywhere. “Got it,” you say, tightening your grip just in case. “Are we going on the count of three or wha-”

An icy shock of sound and feeling blast over you like a roaring wave, rushing past incomprehensibly, and then you’re on top of a building, overlooking the road where the Crowther’s house is. You’re a good two hundred yards from where you started.

San Francisco rises before you in the distance, clear and bright in the afternoon light. And at this altitude, without all the buildings and landscape getting in the way, it’s way windy. Your hair’s going all over the place, and you have to restrain it with a hand. You can feel your heart hammering in your chest. Now it’s like you’re the girl from the movie, except you’ve also got superpowers.

Wolfgang turns and looks at you, a big smug grin on his face as he digs his staff into the gravel of the building top. “So?” he asks. “Didn’t scare you, did I?”

“Sweet mercy. How the hell does Moriah hate that?” you ask, looking back and forth between where you started and where you are now. “That was fucking awesome.”

“Don’t let go,” says Wolf, pointing his staff off into the distance and narrowing his eyes.

You clutch his arm to yourself. Another wave of incredible speed, and you’re on another, higher building top, this one with smooth paved shingles and lots and lots of chimneys and AC units on it. It takes you a moment, but you manage to locate the building you used to be on just a second ago. It’s so far away. Your frame of view on the whole city’s shifted somewhat – you’re skirting along the city center more toward the neighborhood where you and Sattler wrecked things up.

You stare, almost totally floored. “Holy crap. Can you just like, you know, just totally go anywhere you can see?” you ask, eyes wide. Your skin’s buzzing with goosebumps and stuf.
>>
>>40351543

“In principle, yeah,” says Wolfgang, pointing out another building a few blocks away and concentrating on it. There’s another explosion of frigid wind, and you’re there, looking back and trying to figure out where you started. “It’d burn too much power, though,” he continues. “Every week I take an hour or two and set up a waypoint someplace. If I have the location marked beforehand, it gives me something to latch onto and I get a lot better mileage.”

There’s another surge of force, and you’re on another building, a helicopter pad at your back, and over the ledge, far below, you can see a busy intersection. The height’s almost dizzying. You’re feeling really shaky, but in a really, really good way. (-18 Stress: 29) “How many of these waypoint things you have?” you ask, unable to keep your voice level for more than a couple words.

He makes a thoughtful face. “A couple hundred.”

>Hey, check it. We’re like already there. That’s the street just a couple blocks that way!

He’s got San Francisco wired up like a Christmas tree. Oh geeze. (-2 Stress: 27)

You hug his arm even a little bit more closer if that’s possible, and stare at Wolf as he goes to teleport again. The sharpness of his nose. The way his lips tense with concentration. The minute pulsing of the blood in his neck. And, of course, the classic, clean scent of his clothes. Of him.

You bring your hand up to his face to turn his gaze away from the destination, and toward you. You kind of just leave your hand on his face, and run your thumb along his neck, and then lean in and kiss him. And then you’re doing a lot of kissing. Like. A lot.

And it’s cool, being all up on some random skyscraper with the wind everywhere and whatever. Making out is pretty awesome. And you’re not sure of how exactly it happens, but at some point the whole deal kind of folds to the ground, and he’s sitting with his back pressed against the roof ledge, and you’re kind of over him, with one hand behind his neck. The other you have screwing up his hair, which feels smooth and sleek under your fingertips. (-15 Stress: 12)

And you’re squishing noses and breathing a lot, and the air’s really warm, and everything’s just Wolf all over the place, and then you recall something, and the whole thing kind of grinds to a halt suddenly, leaving both of you breathing heavily, your faces just inches apart.

“What’s wrong?” he asks lowly, eyes burning. You can the words in his neck with your hand.

Your thoughts are all slow and unresponsive, but know Wolfgang, however hot and whatever as he may be, doesn’t really look or feel like this. It’s an illusion. You think. Glamors are kind of weird. Maybe you should forget about it? (+4 Stress: 16)

“You’re all... you’ve got your tongue disguise thing still,” you say, frowning a little.

“Come on, don’t worry about it,” says Wolf, pressing his lips into a thin line. “My glamors, everything, it’s threaded with puppet nerves. It’s not like we’re kissing through a layer of saran wrap.”

“I know, but... come on,” you say, wrapping your fingers around the back of his neck. “We talked about this.”

“Yeah, Xan was right there the whole time with her bucket of leeches, how could I forget that,” he says, chuckling. But then his laughter ceases, and a feeling of concern comes from him. “Wait. Were you serious about leech thing when Moriah asked?”

You’re pretty sure there’s a right and wrong answer here, but you’re not sure if it’s the truth, or what Wolfgang wants to hear. “Uh. No?”

Wolfgang puts a hand between your face and his face. “Eugh. Ugh.” He almost retches.

“Well... can’t knock it till you try it,” you say feebly, suddenly feeling kind of horrible and disgusting. (+7 Stress: 23)

“Yeah, I could taste it,” he says, grimacing.

“Um. Whoops? I mean. It wasn’t that bad, was it?” you ask. “I mean. You were into it still and...” (+5 Stress: 28)

Wolfgang shuts his eyes, brow furrowed and a sour look on his face. “Just... let’s put this on hold,” he says, shifting underneath you a little bit so he’s sitting more upright. He obviously has the intention of getting up.

But you don’t want him to get up, you still want to kiss him up and all that. “Wait wait,” you say, putting your hands on his chest and willing him to stop. “Nobody’s around, right?” You glance behind you, and find that indeed, there’s not a helicopter in sight. Your building rooftop haven is people free.

While Wolfgang still has his eyes closed, you lose your glamors, and brush the backs of your claw tips gingerly against his cheek bones. “Look at me,” you say.

Slowly, Wolfgang opens his eyes and does just that. It takes him a moment to take it all in.
>>
You don’t always get chances to break out of your glamors and make out a lot. Still, you know for a fact that Wolfgang thinks you’re super hot when you do.

“Why don’t... can I... see you? Y’know? Like. For real,” you say, resting your forehead against his.

He is conflicted, probably trying to figure out whether its more important to keep making out with his hot demon girlfriend, or if it’s more important to avoid leech juice aftertaste. It is not a long struggle. “I don’t know. This isn’t exactly the kind of situation for it,” he says. “But... I admit you made a good point earlier about letting you judge things for yourself.”

And then he surprises you by kind of lunging forward a little and pressing his lips against yours. Except there’s something kind of more pointy going on against your mouth as you get back to making out. Sweet mercy. He’s giving you snake tongue. And that’s about the last comprehensible thought you have for the next however long.

--

Stress: 10

You continue clinging to Wolfgang’s arm as you walk down the sidewalk toward the place. Up ahead, you can see his car. Except also up ahead, except there’s a fire engine and police cars and a dozen black sedans everywhere, all crowded around the building you and Sattler busted up. Some of the windows are shot out, and a crowd of people and police are scattered everywhere, talking and writing on notepads and all kinds of things.

“That’s a lot of police,” says Wolf.

Nobody seems to care about your approach, and they’re all probably complete strangers, but you can’t really tell at this distance. Maybe somebody’s lurking around that’ll recognize you? This is kind of in the neighborhood where you spend a couple months with the Cobras.

>Just play it cool. They might have already seen you, might be suspicious if you walk off now.

“Just play it cool,” you mutter to him, turning up slightly to talk into his ear. “They’ll be on you in two seconds if you flake out.”

He nods, and the both of you keep moving forward.

You go straight to the car, getting just close enough to the center of the law enforcement swarm to see people with FBI jackets amongst the regular SFPD guys. Reluctantly, you detach yourself from Wolfgang’s arm so you can go around to the passenger side door.

You spot a couple faces you recognize – desk cop and Officer Flowers – talking to an older woman with dark hair and skin, maybe a neighbor or a witness or whatever. Luckily, they don’t see you, or if they do, they don’t recognize you with longer hair and your slick leather riding jacket.

You and Wolfgang hop in the car and make good your escape.

“I hate the FBI,” you say.

“What? Why’s that?” asks Wolfgang.

You snort. “They’re in on the whole thing.”

“Some of them, not all of them,” says Wolfgang. “To be fair the Department of Esoterica has people everywhere.”

“To be double fair, cops in general are pretty crap anyway,” you say. “Especially fucking Officer Deskjockey back there.”

Wolf glances over at you as you turn at a light. “Someone you know?”

“I don’t want to talk about it,” you say, folding your arms and scowling. Stupid pigs with their stupid intimidation and guilt tripping BS. (+2 Stress: 12)

“And yet you mentioned it,” Wolfgang prods.

“I mention a lot of stuff. Doesn’t mean it means anything,” you say. “Anyway, considering our dad’s are like, the government here, it’s kind of weird we don’t run into more bureaucratic drones from Washington HQ.”

“The arcane branch of the government is really into the right to privacy when it comes to its constituents,” says Wolfgang. “I don’t even think they keep our addresses on official records.”

“Really,” you say.

“Oh, I’m sure they have people that know,” he replies, “but there’s a reason my father’s been able to hold down his job as a magister. His people are too removed from his personal affairs to know the first thing about him, except that he’s good at his job. I don’t even think Isaac knew where we lived until Cassandra dropped you off that one time,” he adds.

Ultimate secrecy. “That’s kind of cool, actually,” you say.

“Living in the US isn’t all bad for demons,” says Wolf. “There’s drawbacks, but everywhere has drawbacks.”

What good things? Sierra's a terrible romantic partner. I still think dating is a fucking horrible idea for someone as unstable as her, and that her relationship is inevitably going to lead to her murdering several innocent people after their first major fight. Every moment that she spends in an environment where she's as emotionally high-invested as a romantic relationship that's as hypothetically prone to meltdown as a romantic relationship is a moment where she's literally deciding that her getting to make out is more important than the lives of those around her.

"normal" well I suppose she would be relatively normal compared to unglamoured sierra, if she were human.

"Uhh baron, I have some bad news for you. I have no face."

Exactly. Sierra's relationship is a ticking time bomb - not in that it's doomed to fail, but in that she's ridiculously dangerous, incredibly unstable, and even the best relationship sometimes has high points of peak stress that, in Sierra's case, can and will lead to her mindlessly killing countless innocent people. What she's doing isn't just reckless and dangerous, it's endangering innocent people, and it's badwrong.

She should be focused on sorting herself and her issues out before she EVER even CONSIDERS a real relationship with someone.

But no. She's horny, lonely, and craving normalcy. A teenager, in other words.
>>
>>40356638
I think she can safely avoid exploding due to the relationship, as long as she's careful. Mostly just catching it as it happens and both sides backing down for a little while. assuming Wolfgang doesnt do something terrible it should be fine.
>>
>>40356638
I trust in Wolfgang to be awesome enough to reign Seirra in if she starts to go crazy.

If Seirra freaks out again I demand we get to switch to Wolfgang and attempt to calm her down.

This quest is roll under.

>>40356751
Nat 1s would cure Sierra of some major mental trauma when Wolfy hugs her out of a rampage.

Roll under, bruh.

Right, I had completely forgotten. you know what i mean though.

I seriously doubt it. Even the best, most reasonable, most loving, most well-adjusted couples inevitably have a fight. Or have something shitty happen which stresses both of them out. Or has a health problem.

Something stupid that gets blown out of proportion. Some niggling doubt which turns something else into a fight. Something happening that leaves you so worried about your partner that your stress just boils over and you don't know what to do.

With a normal person, they might shout, get drunk, maybe even punch an inanimate object or two if they were REALLY stressed - and then that would be that, and they'd mostly just feel silly or guilty for shouting like that, or whatever. In an action film you'd go on a suicide mission following the big fight; in a romantic comedy, you'd put on some gigantic, stupid apology display. For Sierra, though, she'll explode out a third story window in a fireball, cut down an entire street of pedestrians with a razor-tail-whip, and spend the next half hour killing and drinking the blood of anyone she can find.

It's not like this has never happened before. And even if Wolfgang might help out now, in the short term, dealing with our day-to-day stress levels? All relationships inevitably produce intense spikes of stress every now and then, without fail. Sierra's relationship is going to kill innocent people - a lot of innocent people. Mark my words, because I'll be mournfully reminding everyone that I told them so after it happens.

tfw the only way to get your waifu to not snap and murder everything in 10 blocks is to give her the best demon-head you can, with her razor sharp claws and flames right over your head.
>>
>>40356854
goddamn, someones downer dan, I'm sure if its approached properly, I stress properly. even a big argument wont blow sierra's top cut it close sure, but not cause a rampage. yes couples have fights, but many couples never have screaming fits of rage either.
>>
>>40356854
One fight doesn't mean she's gonna freak out.

Seirra knows to remove herself from a situation once she starts getting stressed. Go meditate, kill something, and come back calm.

And dear god do you have a fucked up view of realtionships.
>>
>>40356958
>yes couples have fights, but many couples never have screaming fits of rage either.
And most people have high-stress moments, but don't rack up double-digit bodycounts of innocent civilians complete with police chases either, but Sierra absolutely does.

>>40356971
>One fight doesn't mean she's gonna freak out.
See above. That's exactly what she'd do. She's unstable, and people die when she ends up in high-stress situations.
>>
>>40356854
>mournful
It sounds more smug with a side of superiority complex, but whatever.
I agree that a relationship was a bad idea. Voted against it every chance I got. It's over and done with now, though, so you're just being annoying.
