>In the grim darkness of the far future, there is only... GOVERNMENT!
>You are John Erlwise Shabti, an imperial noble who was granted governorship over the planet Valencia. From your capital city in Valencia Prime, you over see the development of your planet and the growth of its power.
>In the last thread, we finally made it into the abandoned Hive City, only to find it inhabited by xenos, heretics, mutants, and other outcasts.
>We pushed them into the underground section of the hive, only to discover that the foul abominations had a secret weapon: a Chaos Hellbrute.
>We were pushed out of the under hive, but managed to set up a siege of the area, hoping to out last the vile squatters.
>Link to last thread: http://suptg.thisisnotatrueending.com/archive/40247072/
You are sitting at your desk, working through request form after request form of supplies and munitions to the siege. You some what miss the Fungal War, when you could approve such measures without the need to fill in the paper work. But, outside of times of war, the proper filing must be done and the Adeptus Administratum given their due. You almost loudly praise the Emperor when you hear a buzz at the door, relieved to get some distraction from the mountains of paper work. However, when you open the door, your smile is lost almost immediately. Septimus stands there, his contingency of guards close behind him. "Governor, we need to talk." He says, striding into your office before you can get a word in edge wise. "The source, I think I have discovered it. I thought it was at the pole, but the coolant is merely a bi-product of it, not the source itself. No, to get to it, I need to get to the bottom level of that hive city you discovered."
>What is our reaction?

>(So, I wanna apologize for having this thread a day late. I got invited to go see Mad Max: Fury Road last night by friends. With that in mind, would you guys want me to set up a Twitter account so I can announce cancellations and such?)
>>
>>40332461
We are working on it Septimus, The is a chaos infestation there.
>>
>>40332461

Ask Septimus exactly what "it" is. Is it a weapon? Does it have a psychic signature? We are not sending Septimus into chaos controlled territory (especially given his borderline heretical actions).
Also, we should set up some remote communication ability with Septimus. I'm nervous being in the same room as a psyker like him without a reliable way to negate his powers.
>>
>>40332461

I already posted for what I think we should do next, but I was wondering how many of the Plasma weapons and Carapace armor were ready yet. I remember we stepped up production in the last session.

Also, how many soldiers are in a "regiment"
>>
>>40332799
>A regiment is roughly a thousand troops, give or take some due to losses and other such matters. We have enough Plasma/Carapace to equip five regiments fully, or partially equip all PDF regiments.
>>
>>40332461
Yeah we're working on it, obv.
You say you've discovered the source, but can't get to it. What do you think the source is at the bottom of the Hive City? Gimme a straight answer.

You sigh, shaking your head. "Septimus, I'm working on the Hive situation right now. But there are a bunch of heretics, aliens, and other things lurking down there. There is no way in hell I'm sending you down there until it is cleared up." You say sternly, looking him in the eyes. "Besides, what is this source thing anyways? You've been mentioning it non-stop, but you've never told me what it is." Septimus hesitates, a rare moment of weakness in his normal personality, before speaking. "I can't tell you everything. Inquisition business and such, the thing is a secret. But here is what I can tell you. The source is ancient and it is alive. Or at least sentient. It has had a direct hand in much of what has been going on during this planet's history. I dare say, it might have even brought the explorator fleet that discovered Valencia here on purpose. Why, I do not know." He says, shrugging. "But my master has made it clear: the source must be retrieved and destroyed before it falls into the wrong hands."
>Finally, a clue as to what this Source is... and it does not sound good. Our reaction?
>>
>>40333126
Well then time to arm and armour or men to kill that chaos hellbrute, then we will continue clearing the hive at best pace. The Emperor will not find us wanting.
>>
>>40333126

We need to figure out how much of a problem this is. Obviously, the Chaos presence under the hive city makes it a serious threat, but is this a source Chaos forces could use without outside assistance? The city has, for all intents and purposes, existed undisturbed for likely thousands of years. Is there something that makes this threat immediate?
>>
>>40333126
"So this is more than just a planetary threat. Do you have a backup plan ready, if things go wrong?"
>>
>>40333126
>my master has made it clear
this sounds ominous.
>inb4 Septimus is working for Tzeentch

I'd say lock him up just to be sure, but that might be stupid. I forget who Septimus is, but I'm assuming he's in the Inquisition, since he's a sanctioned psyker, and mentioned Inquisition business.

Let's get back to murdering chaos guys in the Hive. Send a message to whoever we think Septimus's superior in the Inquisition might be saying that we have doubts about this agent of the Inquisition and ask for another to help out and keep a double secret eye on Septimus and the whole situation.
>>
>>40333297
we could just ask him for ID. At this point it's a fair gesture to make.
>>
>>40333327
can we get a reminder who Septimus is.
Is he Inquisition? Is he working for us? What's up with this guy?
>>
>>40333297
>>40333327
>>40333353
>(In a previous thread we had the ecclesiarchy confirm Septimus's back ground. They said he was a sanctioned psyker, formerly in the guard, picked up by the Inquisition, his history is a bit fuzzy around there, and has been on the planet for many months looking for "the source".)
>>
>>40333353
>Who
Powerful Psyker, we thought was rogue
>Working for us
No. He claims to be working for the Inquisition.
>this guy's deal
He's alarming, mysterious, and only shows up to ask more things of us. So perfect =I= act so far.
>>
>>40333377
okay.
well I guess we have to trust him, assuming he has a Rossette.

I'm still saying that we should attempt to contact a superior Inquisition agent and warn him of our doubts.
>>
>>40333422
Oh, man, let's not. Doubting an Inquisitorial agent could very well be heresy, and could involve us in Inquisition politics.
>>
>>40333126
"Do we have a vague deadline for this? So far, Chaos forces have entrenched themselves in the lower areas."
>>
>>40333297

Yes, I agree.

His "Master" could be the "dead" Inquisitor he officially worked for. Up until now we have had no evidence he has been working with anyone else in the Imperium. It wouldn't be the first time an Inquisitor has feigned death in order to pursue covert activities.

On the other hand, his old Inquisition employer could be a radical, hence the reason for the faked death. Worse, Septimus could have killed the old Inquisitor himself, while under the influence of Chaos, and now seeks to use the remains of his former authority for evil ends.

Can we send an astropathic message to our "friendly" Inquisitor and ask if Septimus is listed as a current agent? Both Septimus and the Inquisitor we worked with were Ordo Xenos so it shouldn't be too hard to find out. In the meantime, we can keep him in a comfortable secure location while we prepare to push on the lower hive again.
>>
>>40333222
>>40333280
>>40333479
Your interest aroused, you decide to question further. "So... do we have an exact dead line before whatever this source thing is becomes a problem? Are the chaos forces going to use it against us?" You ask, Septimus shaking his head. "The Chaos forces likely won't get close to the thing. Frankly, I'm surprised they can even stand being in the city with it." You raise an eyebrow, but Septimus seems to sense your question. "The source is devoid of the warp. Utterly. The warp surrounds us, all humans have a signature in the warp, with psyker's signatures being much larger than a regular man's. The source has a dead zone around it, where no warp activity can occur. If one where to go into the warp and look where the source is, there would be a hole in warp space at its location. However, as I said, the thing is sentient. You remember those fungal zombies? My colleague in the Ordo Xenos looked into them. They were artificial, a weapon created. Furthermore, the basis of the fungi's DNA was based on Ork DNA. The Source was experimenting on the feral orks here, making a weapon of its own. It will never not be a problem for this planet and, if my theory is right, set loose it could reek havoc on the galaxy. I don't have a set time limit because this thing is active and must be destroyed as soon as possible, because I have no idea what it is fully capable of and you have seen the destruction it was wrought even while it was trapped under the planet."
>Reaction?
>>
>>40333826
"Then you're going to need some help, if it's immune to psykers. Do you have anyone you can call on, like an Astartes strike team?"
>>
>>40333826

"Then it must be destroyed swiftly, as you say. But currently a Chaos Helbrute is moving freely through the lower levels - We're currently devising a strategy and arming our troops with the appropraite weaponry to destroy it. Unless you care to defeat such an enemy yourself we just wait until the heretics are further contained. When this happens you will be cleared for exploration."

"If this thing is anathema to psykers, you need some help. Can you call on some assistance, an Astartes strike squad perhaps?" Septimus scratches his chin for a second in thought. "I could ask my master to request assistance from the Deathwatch, but that could take a few weeks for them to get here, maybe a few months, and I can't stress the expedience in this matter. If I do so, it doesn't mean I'm going to just sit back and wait for them to arrive. I need to get pass that Chaos blockade as soon as possible, with your help or not." He says, turning to walk out of the office.
>Do we say anything to him on his way out?
>>
>>40334285
"Septimus, wait. Let me get you in touch with our commander. Tell him you have express permission for any resources under his command and to notify me if anything else is needed."

"Wait, Septimus." You say, the psyker stopping in his tracks. "Look, you're going to need help with this, no matter how strong you are. Therefore, I am going to get in contact with Lord General Frederick and tell him you have the authority to requisition resources to get past those chaotic fiends. Tanks, men, whatever you need, just ask." You say, Septimus turning back to you and smiling. "Why, thank you Governor... I must say I'm surprised. And here I thought you didn't trust me." He says, bowing. "Well, I must be off then. But thank you again for your help." He says before walking off.
You head down to Frederick's office, still being decorated since he decided to stay on Valencia. The walls are adorned with medals and momentos from past campaigns. You're surprised as you see a few of the many battles Frederick has taken place in. "Ah, Governor, here to share that amasec and here war stories?" He says with a laugh. Frederick's mood seemed to lighten up since he changed his position here to be permanent. You smile but shake your head. "I'm afraid not Frederick, here on business matters." You say, walking up to your friend. "You remember Septimus, that Psyker I told you about? Well, he's found his source thing and it is at the bottom of the hive. He needs to get past the Chaos forces as soon as possible. He's contacted his inquisitor master for Deathwatch support, but he needs to keep trying in the mean time. Therefore, I want you to give him full authority to request men, weapons, vehicles, whatever in his mission." As soon as you give the order, Frederick performs a salute. "Of course sir. I'll begin telling my officers now to spread the information through the ranks." He says, moving over to his desk and typing something into his personal cogitator. "Thank you Frederick, I can always count on you." You say before heading back to your office to get back on that mountain of paper work.
>Anything else we wish to do?
>>
>>40334824
whelp. Septimus will probs get all our armies killed and then use the horrible xeno eldritch horror against us or something... so we have that to look forward to.

let's uhhh... Well I don't know what to do now.

>>
>>40334824
Let's get an aide. Surely some of this work doesn't need our full attention.
>>
>>40334824

changing >>40334905 to let's get the local Ecclesiarch members to join in the crusade against the chaos boys. surely some emperor power will help us kill that chaos brute minimizing our casualties, plus keep any potential Inquisition heresy under watchful eyes.
>>
>>40334953
Ehhh. We already have them and the Mechanicus fucking with each other, let's not favor them.
>>
>>40335021
Mechanicus wouldn't know heresy if it walked up, slapped the omnissiah on the ass, and said, "Hail Chaos!!"

We can work with the ecclessiarchy without necessarily making our mech-pals jealous. Christ we aren't married to them. We just gave them a small enclave on our planet to establish a friendly relationship.

You decide to contact the Ecclesiarchy and see if they can send some support to help in the siege... while also having a few eyes on any possible treachery from Septimus. The ecclesiarchical representative responds soon. "Governor, as you know, we cannot keep men under arms, and we lack an Adeptus Sororitas covenant to send for military support. We can send a few priests to give morale support to the troops, but we cannot engage in the fighting ourselves." You shrug and tell him that is alright.
>Month 26
>It is our second planetary anniversary. Any plans to celebrate? Last anniversary was a little soured as the Fungal War started soon afterwards. Hopefully this year will go better.
>>
>>40335396
A private drink with Frederick might do some good. It also allows us to bug him about how that wacky psyker's been keeping up.
>>
>>40335396
>>40334824
Have we identified which chapter/Legion the Hell Brute is from? We might be able to leverage that into getting some Marines here if it a enemy/traitor to a nearby Chapter.
>>
>>40335396
Let's make it a big celebration which focuses on the successes of industry and the general productivity of the populace. The soldiers now have their own holiday, let's make this one about the average citizen. And the Emperor too, of course.
>>
>>40335396
>tfw no Adeptus Sororitas qts on our planet
Why govern?

>>40335440
this seems okay I reckon.

Maybe address the armed forces and give moral support/rallying speech praising their hard work to safeguard their planet in the Emperor's name. Remind them that the struggle isn't over yet, and the best way thing we can all do is to buckle down and keep on foightin fer the Emprah.
>>

>>
>>40335568
>average plebs
I guess we could do this too.
>>
>>40335594
Well that at least narrows it down to a Heresy era legion instead of a more recent traitor.

I know we are not blessed with much in the way of man portable AT weapons but can we scrap together 25-30 melta guns and form a veteran platoon with the purpose of killing this thing? We could hold the hit squad in reserve and launch an offensive to draw it out then ambush it.
>>
>>40335758
>(We're already mass producing plasma guns to kill this thing, remember?)
>>
>>40335918

Yes but plasma guns are barely capable of doing the job especially as it is a Contemptor, i just was hoping there was a better way to kill it other than losing a hundred plasma gunners to one machine.
>>
>>40336050
>(I mean, we can, but it would require shifting the mechanicus forge over to melta gun production and they might not appreciate suddenly being told to make something else, especially when we really pushed for plasma gun production)
>>40335568
>>40335596
You decide that for this anniversary, you shall celebrate the common working man of Valencia. You give the average citizens a day off and throw a festival, as well as ensuring a large ecclesiarchy presence. It comes time for you to step forward and give the anniversary speech.

>Rolls average to 41, a partial success with a consequence
You begin your speech, praising the workers of Valencia for all their productivity in equipping the soldiers of this world, ensuring its warriors have the weapons they need to defend Valencia from all of her threats. You carry on with this, saying that without the workers, Valencia will fall apart from being attacked. Over all, this has two effects. The workers become fervent in their praise for you and the emperor, filled with a nationalistic pride, while your soldiers... well, they don't enjoy being second hand to the guys who make their guns. Especially in these times of low morale.
>Military actions this month will have a -10 to them, while production actions will have a +10.
