"No! I don't wanna! You... you can't make me!" You back up against the wall, pressing your paws flat to wooden panelling, as Garush slowly approaches you, the sleeves of his shirt rolled up to expose his tattooed arm, his vest hanging open over his chest. His trousers are rolled up to the knee, a leather blacksmith's apron worn over the top of everything. He's crouched low, stalking up on you like a wild animal. Emma presses against your legs, growling softly at him and muttering under her breath as she faces off against the orc.

"Now, deres no needs ta bes worrieds. Its fors yours owns goods. Just bes a goods girls, and it'll alls be overs soon."

Behind him, shining menacingly in the firelight, is the steaming copper tub. A cake of something that absolutely, positively must be poison sits on the edge, and a strange flat wooden club with bristles likewise. Across the orc's shoulder is a weird, fluffy rag, colored a shade you're sure must be the pale reddish-white blood of countless innocents. He takes a careful step toward you, arms wide as he tries to prevent your escape. You see the door cracked open on the opposite wall behind Garush, Djanna watching with rapt curiosity.

"Never never never! Uh-uh! No way! You can't make us! Right, Em-"

You feel the pressure on your legs suddenly gone and look down. You see her gone, blurry form creeping away along the wall.

Traitor.

Welcome to RE: Kobold Quest

QM Twitter: http://www.twitter.com/lotuseater1031

Ask me Questions: http://ask.fm/Lotus_Eater

Pastebin: http://pastebin.com/u/Lotus_Eater

SYSTEMS:

Rolling: d100, best of three, roll under, degrees of success (roll compared to DC/opponent rolls and the amount by which you succeed/fail will matter). 1/100 are crit successes/fails, and override other rolls. A crit fail and success on the same roll means the remaining die result will be used.

Win/Lose by 10: Slight Success/Failure

10-20: Moderate Success/Failure

Greater than 20: Extreme Success/Failure

Voting/Writing: Ten minutes for voting, 20-40 minutes for writing as needed.

Final Destination: If a vote is tied/contended, I will call for FINAL DESTINATION, and present the most popular options. For those who don't know, you must vote precisely in the form of ">vote" without additional commentary. This extends 4chan's native post delay from one minute to five, and prevents samefagging or vote padding.

Exploration: While I have a general outline of what's going to happen, sometimes there are instances where things are left to chance. In those cases, I'll call for 1d10, and take the first given. Low rolls are beneficial encounters, with the higher you go being more dangerous. A result of 10 can actually be threatening to the character, and should be treated as such.

Combat: You will be called on to make both an offensive and defensive role, unless you choose FULL ASSAULT/DEFENSE.

You whine and reach out to grab at Emma, desperate for a way out. She hisses and snakes forward, just barely slipping under your grip, but the quick movement makes her illusion take just a moment too long to match the rest of the flooring. Garush makes a grab for her, and she takes the opportunity to run, dashing between the huge man's legs and rushing for the door, the illusion fading entirely. You hear Djanna squeak as Emma bowls into her.

"Djannas! Nos, close da doors!" He reaches out in vain as something small, fuzzy, and golden-blond dashes past him faster than he can see. Almost as an afterthought, he closes his fist around empty air, the door banging open against the opposite wall, the dragon girl knocked ass-over-teakettle on the floor of the hallway, moaning about being hit by a falling star.

"Wells... damns."

========================================

You finally skid to a stop, hands on your knees, panting as Emma collapses on the ground beside you, whining.

"I thought we were going to die..."

You nod your agreement, catching your breath much faster than the winded kitty. You flop down on your rump, legs crossed, shivering in the chill.

You ran as hard and fast as you could after managing to escape the orcish prison, bravely dashing past the precisely no guards, and masterfully overcoming the unlocked front door. You managed to blend in to the crowd as you moved back toward the city center, and now...

You realize just how lost you are. Your ears droop and you whimper as Emma finally sits up, shivering and clapping her arms across her chest over and over, trying to restore some heat. "So where do we go now? We can't go back. I'm not going back." She has a far-off look in her eyes, like she's stared death itself in the face. You don't know what to tell her.

You look about the unfamiliar city, watching the strange people walk by. You hear the peal of bells from somewhere in the middle distance, and realize that in your mad dash for freedom, you lost your orientation. You whine... and then whimper... and then whine some more.

"What's wrong?" Emma looks down at you, partly concern, partly accusatory.

"I... I think we should go back."

"Are you insane!?" She snaps, her impassive mask slipping just a bit. "He was going to boil us! Or drown us. Or... or I don't know, but why did he need that big copper pot and the beating-stick... thing?"

"I don't know!" you whine, ears flattening back and tail curling against your hips. "But... but maybe... maybe we can get him to stop being weird? Or... maybe he's not being weird. Maybe it's an orc thing. Like, big pots of water and... and being really scary... and the fluffy rags are how they welcome people to their caves?"

"House. They're called 'houses,' Nadia. Four walls minimum, and a roof."

"You remembered something!?" Your fear is replaced by joy as your tail unfurls, thumping against the ground.

Emma just stares down at you for a moment that seems to go on for a little too long before she reaches out and, with a grunt, helps you to your feet. "Come on. Wherever we're going we can't stay here."

You nod, and set out back toward the warehouse.

An hour later, you have no idea where the warehouse is, where you are, where anything is. Your stomach growls, you're cold, and you're just this side of tears. Emma rides on your back, shivering, barefoot as the day you found her, tails wrapped up around her legs and your hands to keep both warm.
>>
>>40282142
"We're lost aren't we."

You nod with a whimper.

"Didn't pay attention to which way we ran when we got away, did you."

You shake your head softly, and she sighs.

"There you are!" You hear a familiar voice and turn around. Djanna rushes up and throws herself at the both of you, long arms enfolding you both as she hugs you tight. "I've been worried sick! Why did you run away!?"

Your breath hitches in your throat and you start bawling, burying your face in your sister's chest, sliding your hands from under Emma's rump to hug the dragon. The fox girl falls to her feet with a soft "Ump!"

Djanna just strokes your hair gently, the change in positions - from the one receiving comfort to the one giving - doesn't seem to strike her for a moment. "Hey, no. C'mon, it's okay. Stop crying, it's all going to be okay."

I doubt he wants to eat us as he is trying to poison and beat us, for whatever reason.
>>
>>40282354
Anons might have. I don't remember Nadia actually saying anything about it.

Even if she did she carved a baseball into the wall without knowing what a baseball is... so it's not entirely unlikely that she knows you bathe to get clean, but has no idea what a bath is or what it looks like, and it probably has nothing to do with drowning a poor kobold!

"He was gonna eat us! Or or or drown us! Or drown us then eat us! Or the other way around! Or I don't knoooooooow!" You howl mournfully, tears streaming through the fuzz on your face. Emma reaches up and lays a hand on your arm gently, patting you with a nod of complete agreement. Djanna rolled her eyes, putting her clawed hands on her hips.

"Guys, come on. It was just a bath..."

You and Emma look at one another. You see recognition in her eyes, but you have no clue. You look at Djanna and tilt your head. "Um... what's a bath? And how do you know?" You sniffle, your tears slowing to a stop as confusion replaces relief.

She lays a claw proudly on her chest. "Well, I-"

"I tolds hers."

Garush walks up the street behind her, people giving him a wide berth. A few mumble "Cap'n" as they scuttle by, not meeting the orc's gaze. "M'sorry, girls. I didn'ts thinks ya wouldn'ts knows whats its is."

"Well, if you'd just told me..." Emma mutters, looking away from the orc with a rose tint to her cheeks, tails flicking with embarrassment. She mutters something about "springs," but you're not sure what coiled metal has to do with anything... or why you know that's what a spring is.

"I knows, and ahms sorrys. I ain'ts nevers beens arounds cubs befores, 'speciallys ones thats weren'ts raised ups arounds civilizations." Emma opens her mouth to interject angrily, but Djanna shakes her head, clapping a claw over her mouth gently. "It's a longs soaks an' you uses soaps to wash stuffs offa yas that makes yas smells bad."

You look at Emma, wagging your tail softly with a smile. "Hey! Maybe that could do something about how you smell!"

She shouts something muffled behind Djanna's claw, glaring daggers at you as her tails absolutely flail, her ears folding back and her face turning red between the dragon girl's claws.

Huh, that... it sounds weird, but not bad. You haven't really been warm since you left home except last night, and Garush doesn't seem like a bad guy. Maybe... maybe it's not so bad? You consider it a moment, then nod timidly. "All right... I'll try it." Garush nods and Djanna smiles, letting her hands fall back to her sides. Emma glares at you both, but shakes her ears back upright and seems to calm down.

"But, Emma can go first."

"WHAT!?"

==============================

"Ams you girls okays in theres?" You hear Garush call from the hallway, through the closed door.

Djanna slips into the tub next to Emma, soaking in the heat with a sigh. She calls out in the affirmative, a blush on her face as she submerges up to her nose, sitting on the bottom. You and Emma have agreed that, with her abandonment and you throwing her to the orcs, you're square and that you'll never leave one-another behind again. There may have been heartfelt tears.

Emma's hair has been cut short, most of the matted mess of it beyond repair. Garush had helped her with her tails and hair, getting out the tangles, detritus, and gunk, and she'd all but purred under the attention, directing him on the proper care and feeding of tails. It was a lesson he then applied to you, after you'd watched to be sure he wasn't going to suddenly swallow her whole.
>>
>>40282946
Say what you will about him being an absolutely terrifying mountain of a monster when angry, the man could be gentle.

Your hair is damp, plastered about your head, and your tail feels heavily waterlogged as you sit outside the tub, brushing it out under Emma's direction as she leans against the edge of the tub, watching you. Her fur looks almost completely different, the deep black and white much more sleek post-bath.

"No, no, not that way. you'll get it all puffy."

"But I like it puffy..." You whine, pulling the comb along your tail toward your body.

"But it lets stuff get down to the skin, and that's not good."

"How do you know, anyway?" you whine, brushing the other way. Huh... it's easier going in the other direction.

Emma grins, much more lively now that she's clean. "Well, I am older than the both of you."

"Not by much." Djanna mutters, surfacing long enough to speak before once more sinking down into the blissful heat.

"Hey, Garush?" You call out, looking up from your brushing. Emma lazily turns her head to the door, then just rests her cheek on the edge of the tub, her hair brushing the side as she smiles drunkenly.

"Yes? Whats ams you needings, Nadia?" You hear him calling from the hallway. He cracks the door just a little bit, but doesn't look in.

"Do you know anything that could make Djanna stronger? Like, that involves treasure an' stuff?"

"Piracy."

"Huh?"

"Er, neverminds. Whys ams you worrieds abouts it? There's plentys of times befores you's needs to worries about beings strongs, right?"

You blink. It's a weird feeling, thinking somebody else is kind of dim. Here you are, evolved already - whatever that means - and you were covered in blood when you you NO DON'T SAY I-

"You're kinda not smart, huh mister Garush."

The world itself seems to still. Djanna looks at you in utter shock, Emma clapping a hand over her mouth and diving into the water to cover her laughter, though the bubbles breaking the surface are evidence enough of it.

Garush is dead silent for a long while before he speaks. "Well... I'lls admits ya seems ta haves beens through somes stuffs and come outs of its rougheds ups, but you ain'ts thinkings abouts doings anythings dangerous again, rights?" There's genuine concern in his voice. Your tail droops. Wow, now you feel bad...

Djanna surfaces and leans over the edge of the tub nearest the door, explaining the situation in brief - about the warrens, about the shrines, and about the situation. Garush just listens, not responding until Djanna has finished speaking.

"Sounds likes a roughs deals, girls, but whats it gots to do withs yous? Sounds to mes likes you shoulds just calls it goods and stays here. You've gots enoughs treasures that you won't haves to works for a whiles, and by then you coulds finds works doings somethings safes, likes... I don't knows, but somethings!"

You whine softly and shake your head, spraying water everywhere. Emma hisses and scoops up a handful of water, throwing it at you in retaliation. You growl playfully at her, tail wagging as you drop the brush and approach. She recoils, backing into Djanna, and with all the weight on one side, the tub begins to tip.

=======================================================

Later, you all sit in the office as sunlight streams in through the window. You're settled before the fire, wearing Garush's shirts as makeshift dressing gowns, voraciously devouring a mid-afternoon meal of roast duck. Your stomach hadn't been properly full in a long time, and you'd practically eaten three whole birds on your own before you finally flopped on your side, resting your back against Emma. The girl had passed out midway through lunch, curled up hugging her tail, face nestled against the warm, sleek fur with a smile, practically purring. You belch, quickly covering your mouth with your paw. Djanna sits cross-legged, eating carefully, trying to mind her manners.

Garush sits at his desk, a small chest open in front of him containing your treasures. He's scratching something out in a heavy ledger. You look from the chest back to Djanna, the rough outline of a key visible hanging from a leather strap around her neck, under her shirt.

Garush finally beckons to her and she hops up, almost dancing over to him. He points out the ledger, and she bashfully admits she can't read.
>>
>>40283650
"We ams goings to fix dat." He nods as if the matter's closed, shutting the lid. Djanna pulls out the key at the orc's direction, slides it into the lock, and turns it till it can't turn any more. He nods and scoops it up, carrying it over to the corner where Bertrand had been corralled the prior night. He pulled back the carpet, making a face and wiping his fingers off on his pants, before he pulled up a floorboard. "Now, dis is goings to be heres, and nobodys is goings to touchs it widouts mys - or yous - says-so. You girls ain't familiars wit moneys, sos I don't wants yous getting into troubles. Okays?"

"I totally know who you can train with, Djanna!" Nadia smiles, bouncing up and down.

--------------------------------

Goldy grins down at her, a manic gleam in his eyes as he regards the cowering dragon girl.

"I... I need an adult..." Djanna whispers, trembling.

"I AM AN ADUUUUUUUULT!"

Goldy lays a claw on her hand and unleashes her potential.

---------------------------------------

"That... didn't take long." Emma mutters.

"It wasn't much potential!" Goldy quips, laughing like a madman.

"Question!" You raise your hand, mimicking the sleeping fox behind you.

"Yes?" Garush looks down at you, swiveling in his chair.

"What's money?"

"Well, money i-"

"And why're you making a hoa-"

"Money is!" He interrupts forcefully, but not loudly. You pout and let your hand drop in front of you, catching the cuff of the silk shirt between thumb and forefinger. Heh... sooooft.

"It's somethings you gives to gets things. Likes, says thats foods. That tooks moneys."

"You mean... you're gonna take all Djanna's shiny because we ate food!?" You jump up, outrage shock and horror crossing your mind at once and leaving you just feeling unsettled. You whine, looking between the two of them, then down at the hoard. You lunge for the floorboard, intent on reclaiming Djanna's treasure... and step on Emma's tail. She comes up with a shriek, eyes wide, tiny fangs visible as she howls in pain. That's just too much. You collapse to your knees, overloaded, just crying.

The orc sighs and reaches out, patting your head. "Der der. No, I'ms nots takings her stuffs, good gods. You can'ts gos arounds carryings stuffs likes dats or you gets idiots like Bertrands after yas. It's safes here, and she's cans comes gets it whenever she wants. Okays?"

You sniffle softly and nod, wiping your eyes. Garush picks up Emma, who glares down at you as she holds her offended tail, and passes her off to Djanna. Emma sticks her tongue out at you, turning and burrowing her face into Djanna's stomach.

You shake off the momentary shock and Garush continues.

"See, tings are worths moneys. Everytings gots value, rights? Your kins, deys pulleds gems and stuffs outs of the grounds. People want dose because dems pretty, and sos dey..."

He looks down at the three of you, reading the complete loss in yours and Emma's eyes. He sighs and snaps his fingers.

"You knows, I haves a betters ideas."

Emma stands before the glittering window, her eyes half-lidded, her mouth downturned as she tries her best to appear disinterested, but her tails flick and ears twitch wildly as she looks at the small assortment of carved toys, stuffed animals, and tin soldiers lined up in the display. Djanna's hanging close to Garush, and you're just sort of standing between the three of them, rolling back and forth from the balls of your feet to your heels. You're wearing new clothes, Djanna having chosen a short jacket and half-cape like Bertrands, with a fur-lined hat and warm wraps for her feet.

Emma wears a brown leather sleeveless dress over a white blouse and warm woolen hose of the same color, her feet in hard, black leather shoes with wide silver buckles. A shawl wraps her shoulders and neck, her ears left hatless.

You got a new pair of looser pants - easier to run and move in, and slip out of if you needed to really run - and a short v-neck shirt that you wore under your mother's greatcoat. You also had Garush ask the harried-looking tailor ask about certain designs that you thought might be a good idea for training and workouts. The tailor had been incredulous, but eventually agreed to try, and told the orc to check back in two weeks.

"Ams we goings to stands out here's or go ins?"

"We don't need to go in."

Emma's tails swish wildly, and a moment later after half-hearted protestations from the small kitsune, you're inside. Djanna looks around, examining a small basket of toy gems carved and polished from what must be - given her reaction - some low-grade mineral as you stand awkwardly by the door. The place is warm and bright, mellow wood and whitewashed walls giving it a warm, open appearance, and the old man behind the counter looks like a stereotypical grandfatherly type, tall and thin with kind eyes behind narrow spectacles.
>>
>>40284588
"I really don't know why we're in here," Emma mutters into the head of the teddy bear she's holding, ears quivering. "It's just a bunch of kid's stuff. Nothing at all that I'm interested in."

You pat her on the head and she blushes, staring pointedly at the floor.

You decide to have a look around while Garush chats with the man. Hmm, more tin soldiers, a painstakingly crafted model boat, some sort of games, BALLBALLBALLBALLBALLBALLBAL- stop. Finally, you come to a corner of the store, face-to-face with a gigantic, brown, plush monstrosity of a stuffed bear in a monocle. You gaze up at it wide-eyed as it looms over you. It's probably taller than Garush! You reach out, giving it a a gentle shove. It's really, surprisingly sturdy. You shove it a little harder, and it barely gives. You grin, an idea forming, as you give it an experimental punch. Again, barely moves!

"Um... young lady, if you could-"

You punch it again, actually squaring off against the thing with a glint in your eyes. You throw another, and another, throwing in a kick, then a knee, and finally with an uppercut the bear's head tears off, stuffing flying all over the store as, almost as if in slow-motion, it sails over your head and lands, spinning on the floor to stop at Garush's feet.

"Nadia! The hells ams you doings!?"

You turn and bound to the counter, Djanna looking on in disbelief and Emma in terror. You don't notice much as you wag, the old man looking shocked at you as you put your paws up on the counter, wagging wildly. "Mister! Mister! Can you make more of them, stuffed just like that!? Maybe tighter!"

>>40284606
>Teddy bear punching bad

That's fucking adorable.
>>
>>40284606
Djanna pants desperately as you put her through her paces, your arms crossed over your chest as you stand in the makeshift gym converted from one of the bunk rooms. The dragon girl looks like she's about to collapse from exhaustion as her arms shake, forcing her through one more push-up.

You grin, tail thrashing the air as Emma sits against the doorway, watching.

"Come on, one more! You can do it, Djanna! You've got it in you! You c-"

She collapses with a groan, flat on the floor. "Nadia, please... I can't keep going like this."

The teddy bear - slash - punching bag hangs from the corner of the room, suspended by heavy ropes. In another corner, a bench with an iron rod laid over a pair of tall candle holders, the metal twisted to cradle the bar, and a couple heavy copper pots full of gravel and sand. You shake your head, bending down to Djanna's level.

"Come on, Djanna, is that all you've got?" You channel your inner coach, but even she seems like kind of a pushover. "You've got to try harder! What if we find a big treasure pile while we're out, an' you can't carry it all back? Would you really wanna leave something behind?"

She grumbles, trying to push herself up on quivering arms and failing. She huffs and rolls over onto her back, frowning in irritation. "I'm too tiiiiiiired. Nadia, can't I rest? Please?"

You shake your head vigorously, ears flopping. "Nuh-uh! What if we get attacked again? Like the zombie? Are you just gonna lie down an' let it eat you? Or what if somebody tries to take your treasures again!? There's bad people out there, an' you need to be able to take care of yourself. What if I'm not around an' somethin' bad happens?"

"But... Nadia. Why would you not be around?" Djanna's eyes meet yours, full of worry and fret.

You whine softly, tail wagging slowly. "All right. You did good, Djanna. I'm really proud of you." You give her a pat on the shoulder and stand, hands on your hips, turning to Emma. "Emma, your-"

"No."

"Aww, but-"

"No."
>>
>>40285143
You whimper but nod, stretching out and stepping over to the bear. You smile, shake his paw, and then beat him until stuffing comes out through the patched-up seams in his belly. You don't even break a sweat!

NADIA HAS GAINED:
Brawl 3
Endurance 1

Finally, Djanna has recovered enough that you put her to work on the bear as well, and she starts to get the hang of a few simple movements, finally adding in a second follow-up punch to her clumsy right hook. You keep pushing her, and she grows more frustrated, finally growling and stamping her foot.

"I give up! I can't do this! Nadia, I just... I'm not as good at this as you are and I never will be!"

She turns to storm out, and her tail smacks the bear hard, sending it twisting in it's harness.

Your tail wags and it's like a light comes on in your head.

"Djanna! Do that again!"

"Do what?"

That would be awesome! Nadia os around 5'2, big hands and feet, heavy fur on those, around her chest, hips, and knees, with black eyes and blue irises. Big slightly rounded ears and bushy shoulder-length hair.

Djanna is 5'5, red scales everywhere but inner thighs, face, and torso, with short blonde hair and slit serpent eyes.

Emma is 4', dark hair just past her shoulders, with pointed ears and two long, sleek fox tails, black with white tips like the ears. She isually looks mildly disinterested, said tails and ears doing her talking for her. Other than that, just a petite, foll-like human with sharper nails on her digits and sharp teeth.
>>
>>40287791
Oh. Nadia has a long tail with a slight curl at the end, like a husky relaxing on quaaludes, and Djanna has a short, thick lizardlike one.

Over the next hour, you coach Djanna in adding her tail into the movements of her attack. Punch, punch, elbow, tail-slap. It takes some time, but she finally gets it down, and soon enough Garush has to be called in to replace the rope harness holding the bear aloft. You'd invite him to join in, but you're afraid you'd run out of bears all too quickly. Still, he stays to watch, nodding as you put the dragon through her paces.

"You ams prettys goods. You sures you ams onlys a pups?"

Ooooh yesyesyespraisememore...

You wrap up the workout with laps on the harbor, running in plain sight of the warehouse at Garush's insistence. Emma stays close to him, bundled in her coat, her bear still clutched in her arms. For as much as she claimed to not be interested in that kind of thing, she's keeping it awfully close at hand. You just shrug it off as you dash past Djanna for a second time.

Cats are weird.

Later on, inside, you're all sitting at Garush's feet as he reads to you from an old book of tales, telling you a story about a wizard who sought to overcome death itself, but was defeated by a clever young girl.

"And dat's whens da eggs hatcheds, and from it sprangs a hare. And she tooks her slings, and she let flys a - whats dis words, Djanna?" He turned the book toward her and she leaned in, squinting.

"Ssss... t.... stone?" He smiled and gave her a pat on the head, and she practically chirped in happiness.

"Dats rights! She lets flys a stones, and whens it hits da hares, it splits it opens, and out comes a herons, dat tries to flies aways, but she grabs ups anudder stones, an she - Nadia?" He turns the book to you and you whine, looking at the word.

"Um... 'lets fly?'"

He frowns at you, but nods, muttering "Luckys guess..." and continuing. The heron falls, and bursts into a pile of straw, amongst which is a golden needle. The girl recovers the needle and confronts the wizard, driving it into his heart and putting an end to his mad ambitions.
>>
>>40288181
Emma nods as Garush closes the book. "Had it coming. You don't mess with things beyond your control."

"It was scary..." you whine softly, leaning against Djanna.

"Emmas gots da rights of its. Its a cautionarys tales abouts nots messings wit tings beyonds your controls. I tink, anyway." He puts the book aside and stretches out. The afternoon has turned to early evening, and the excitement of the day has put you all into something of a stupor.

"Well, now dat dats done, we needs ta talks. I don'ts minds ya stayings here, but I needs ta knows. What does yous intends to dos? You saids you were lookings for dese shrines, but you don't seems... well, all dats ready to mes."

"We have to do it," you nod matter-of-factly, tail thumping against the carpet. "But... I'd be okay with a few suggestions. You know... if you feel like it." You try to come off as nonchalant, and fail miserably.

The orc sighs and nods, looking down at the three of you. "Wells... I tinks firsts offs, you oughtta spends somes times practicin's and learnin's some things. Readin' an' such first off, and hows to deals wit' peoples. I cans helps wit dats. And gettins in betters shapes an' all, like you beens doings, aint a bads ideas. Beyonds dat, gettin's somes betters gears. Dunno whats you mights runs into outs deres." Emma nods, and you do as well.

"Dat means you shoulds probablyes sells some of da treasures ya gots. Not alls of it, minds yas, just enoughs ta gets ya bys. It'd be anudder goods lessons on da values a' money, too." Djanna whimpers, but nods reluctantly. You reach out and lay a paw over her hand. "Udder dan dat, do ya evens knows where any of da udder shrines is?"

You consider a moment. Baltas had told you there was one in the Skyteeth, and another in the lands to the south, but nothing else beyond that. Something about the quest to find the shrines being as important as the quest to visit them if you were trying to sell the whole 'divine inspiration' thing to your mother. You whine and shake your head. Garush frowns and sighs.

"Den... I guess we gots no choices. We gots ta visit..." a shudder runs up his spine. "'her.'"

And I'm sorry, but I think I'm approaching burnout tonight. I'm going to take tomorrow and probably Monday off to brainstorm, recharge, and take some story notes. I was thinking emma should develop her fire powers more and become our combat mage, djanna could stick with rogue.
alternatively djanna could wind up going swordmage....,
>>
>>40288992

Tank. Possibly assisted by barrier magic, which fits with her reluctance to fight and her desire to protect things.
>>
>>40289021
>>40289031
Could make her a ninja.

>Djanna used 'Throw Coin'
>The party lost 10,000GP
>The enemies have been wiped out

>>40289041
The fireball was an illusion, hence why it was heatless and disappeared as soon as it touched you.
>>
>>40288992
Nadia clearly has "Hit stuff" down pat, so she's the Fighter. She's also all holy and shit, so she's the Cleric.
Djanna can either go non-sneaky skillmonkey, or MAGIC!!!!.
Emma can either go sneaky or MAGIC!!!!.

So the question is less in my mind "who's the rogue" and more "sneaky rogue or non-sneaky rogue". Unless dragons cannot into MAGIC!!!!, in which case it's a non-decision unless you want two rogues.
>>
>>40289062
I just don't see it. She's a dragon.

Her mother should be horribly disappointed. She's also huge and going to get larger..

She'd make a terrible sneak.
>>

Dragons can easily into magic.
>>
>>40289062
No thanks ninja is still basically a rogue, And Djanna as stated again has a body for fighting, I'd probably go with the swordmage suggestion
>>
>>40289127
Djanna should be a blaster mage.

Kinda stupid to decide what a character will be for life based on dice......
>>
>>40289520
Artificer it is. It's going to be a hard path since permanent magic items are really, really hard to make. We'll find a way to work it out.
>>
>>40289781
I was thinkin mostly clockwerk golems and alchemical items.
>>
>>40289770
Have you seen how she rolls? Clearly we need the approval of the gods or she will always be horrible!

Joking aside, it makes sense: she gets to work with valuable items, help her friends, and enhance her weaknesses.
>>
>>40289781
....Your seriously deciding on what she's going to be for the rest of her life...On a fucking dice roll? Not even letting player decision in there? I like you and your quest but i have got to say that this is goddamned stupid as all hell
>>
>>40289820
Do you really have so little faith in me?
>>
>>40289863
Honestly i have little faith in everyone, Literally EVERYONE
>>
>>40289889
It's just having fun, poking at the fact her rolls suck ass and that the dice gods should be consulted in her career choice. That said, artificee does make sense to me as a job path for her.
>>
>>40289863

I'd recommend a baser tier of magic as her primary while she develops that extremely specific, highly difficult form of advanced magic.
>>
>>40289925
Well she will still be able to fight right? Because if not that's kinda completely ignoring the bonuses she would get from her larger size and the fact she's a bloody dragon, So it just seems kind of stupid to me if she doesn't learn to actually fight
>>
>>40289964
Not everyone ends up in the career they're most suited to, and she has yet to evolve. She may not end up one of the huge FYIAD types.
>>
>>40290000
I can just image her being the tank during the fight. With a magical shield.
>>
>>40289930
it's not all magic, there's a fairly large portion of alchemy, alchemist fire and acid can be damn useful you know, not to mention sovereign glue.
>>
>>40290070
And then Djanna learned to bottle life.
>>
>>40290142
doesnt that require killing things? ah well, there be evil monsters after all.
>>
>>40290165
It requires killing sapient things. Making heal potions is an evil act.
>>
>>40290202
there be evil sapient things. besides, even if she cant do it, artificing has a shit ton of useful stuff to do with alchemy and clockwerk
>>
>>40290225
Clockwork is a bit advanced for this world. Golemcraft, though, maybe.
>>
>>40290202
Killing evil thinky things in a way that allows for not-killing unevil things later is evil, but just normally killing evil thinky things isn't?
>>
>>40290202
Really? REALLY? I hope you don't make them readily available then and i hope most civ's have a ban on it then, Otherwise you're saying everyone who uses and makes them is evil basically
>>
>>40290245
either way, the whole alcemy/metalmagic thing could really work for djanna.
>>
>>40290293
It seems like Lotus is making Alchemy out to be evil so i hope Djanna doesn't get into it
>>
>>40290309
not all alchemy, just life potions, it seems.
>>
>>40290309

The whole "ALL HEALING POTIONS ARE EVIL" thing is kind of dicks. As is the whole, humans will kill you dead if they figure out you have healing magic deal. It just seems to just add an unnecessary level of complication to the whole quest.

The former is fine, granted there probably should be a work around that's lesser known. As for the latter, it literally doesn't have a justification that Lotus can even convincingly argue.
>>
>>40290368
>>40290370
Yeah it's kinda stupid
>>
>>40290277
Practically a lost art, and yes, the crafting of them is all kinds of illegal now.

>>40290309
Alchemy is not illegal in and of itself, no, but there are certain things you don't toy with without repercushions.

>>40290254
Murder in self-defense is one thing. Killing them to make the potion is am actual ritualized process. It is... Not pleasant.
>>
>>40290394
I point you to>>40290370
What's the justification for your reasoning that's not bullshit? About the healing stuff not the potions
>>
>>40290448
Did yoi miss a few threads afo when you met Goldy? Healing and the removing of disease is on the level of the miraculous in this setting. Humans are barely capable, and only the rarest of rare monsters can heal others through natural powers. Actually receiving divine blessings is unheard of. You don't have to keep it under wraps, but it would be a good idea to avoid panicking the mortals.
>>
>>40290504
That doesn't really explain why they would attack us on sight though if they knew we had healing magic
>>
>>40290504

You cited something to the effect of "Since humans have to struggle to get the blessings of the gods, they become violent when presented with evidence that monsters have garnered that favor." Glad you reverted on that decision. Seriously, it's far more likely that they'd just never let her leave if she had something that rare and incredible at her disposal.

Again, healing potions are fine, though I would note that means that Awoo is carrying contraband. Statute should probably forbay manufacture, not possession, by the way.
>>
>>40290553
Who said they would attack on sight?
>>
>>40290562
Oh, yeah. Using them is questionable, not evil. Manufacture is evil as fuck.
>>
>>40290553
If i said/implied immediate attack, I fucked up. They will be suspicious and react negatively, but the form that takes depends on the circumstance. Case in piint: Tobias and Matthias. They feel they owe you a debt, and though, really, they aren't good people, they are honorable to a point.
>>
Quick question: I'm debating on doing away with form evos, and letting your actions in-game dictate how you rank up without the full-bore mutation coming into play. Kind of curb-stomps the whole "RE: Monster" canon, I know, but this is just a thought.

It seems it would allow leveling up to happen more organically, lead to fewer arguments when evo-time came around, etc.
>>
>>40291662
Snek seemed to be doing fine without sudden jump evos, but you already had one happen so you'll have to figure out a system that permits both.
>>
>>40291662
Ehhh i'd rather you stick with it tbh, It seems like one of the main thing in Re:Monster quests
>>
>>40291798
I was thinking once they hit a certain point they assume a baseline form based on the traumas of early life, amd grow from there. Hence why most adult monsters who never leave the nest are of a similar size/status. If my reading isn't way off, anyway.
>>
>>40291933
Hey.

Art friend doesn't know what type of kobold Nadia is. Any help on that subject?

Found a pic from the manga, Here you go
Pretty sure it's what Lotus was basing the dogbolds after
>>
Lotus, just have us roll for how the fight's going, then you write it how you want. Makes them smoother and makes bad die rolls a non-issue.
>>
>>40293196
Smaller evos, like more muscle tone, or bigger ears, longer claws. Enhancements to the basic form rather than an entirely new body, kind of like Doc Unoriginal was doing.

Hey, I was hust talking about the ears in relation to the head. Would you feel better if I called the evo Bassetbold?
>>
>>40297135
Not really to be honest no
>>
>>40297153
Hey, there are other options!

http://www.buzzfeed.com/kaelintully/21-dogs-with-the-most-magnificent-ears-in-the-universe

Seriously, though, on the topic of evos, small changes versus big. It's going to come up sooner rather than later. I think smaller evos over time will inject longevity into the crunch.
>>
>>40297184
Yeah smaller evo's are probably better in the long run, Just make sure they're relevant to the character, We've established Nadia as a fighter with healing powers, So don't suddenly give us rogue options kay?
>>
>>40291662
I think I'd prefer a more frequent series of 'mutations' rather than evos like snek had. Interspersing that with the occasional evo too would be neat. Truth be told, I've never read the original RE:monster and don't give a shit about what would fit its canon and I think in the context of this quest more frequent smaller changes would work better.

As for Djanna's eventual role, I like the notion of her being decked out in enchanted armour and providing a half tank half spellsword role.
>>
>>40297199
No worries. The bigger ears would help detection, longer claws would obviously let her do more damage, but help with traction and mobility and the like. Things like that.
>>
>>40297225
It would be nice for them to build up to an "Evo". Just have them click after a certain time. Maybe a specialization at then end?
>>

To be honest, I don't think she has the spirit to be a frontliner, but we'll see.
>>
>>40297269
Maybe not right this instant, but that's why we're training her to be big. Plus being able to breathe fire will do wonders for her confidence, as will a stonking great set of plate armour.
>>
>>40297269
>I don't think she has the spirit to be a frontliner, but we'll see.
She's got the most important thing, The desire to protect her family, We saw that when she defended Sylea
>>
>>40297285
True enough. Either way, between the three girls, they can figure it out. Nadia will have a lot of input.
>>
>>40297386
anyone else thinking we should get Emma a ranged weapon like a bow?
>>
>>40298390
Nope, shes a cloak and dagger build, the problem with a bow is arrows obey the laws of physics perfectly, which means you can find where whoever shot it fired the arrow from if you are moderately smart about it. This kills the cat.

Djanna on the other hand...
>>
>>40298390
Thay's an option. Djanna's little hoard has enough value to outfit a low-level party.

Also, maps - real ones - incoming. Got some graph paper and colored pencils so I can document things.
>>
>>40298689
We have incoming:

Dvotysk
Foulbreath Warrens
Necropolis Tower
Garush's Home
Northlands (Needs a name)

Am I forgetting anything?

Quick questions: is the symbol of yra supposer to be rotational symmetric and how are Nadias paws marked with it?
Fur color, burn marks or some sort of gemlike or metallic inlay?
