>In the grim darkness of the far future, there is only... GOVERNMENT!
>You are John Erlwise Shabti, an imperial noble who was granted governorship over the planet Valencia. From your capital city in Valencia Prime, you over see the development of your planet and the growth of its power.
>In the last thread, we decided to expand out, only to come across a most astonishing discovery: a Hive City dating back to the Horus Heresy
>However, the city is manned by defense turrets and servitors, which have shot away any attempts to get inside. Furthermore, whoever is inside the city is committing tech heresy, according to Mechanicus Representative Helena.
>In the meanwhile, we have stepped up production, beginning to manufacture carapace armor and plasma guns with our ceramite and coolant respectively.
>Link to previous thread: http://suptg.thisisnotatrueending.com/archive/40203887/
You are sitting in your office, filling out some paper work when Helena comes into your office. "Governor, I have made a most startling discovery." She says, handing you a data slate. "I was wondering how there could be servitors and defense weaponry up and running in the city when auspex scans showed no signs of life. I was clueless for a while, until I did a seismic reading around the city." She presses a button on the slate and a grid representation of the city appears... and then begins to extend downwards. "The city goes miles underground. Whomever was here before us was mining ceramite like we are. It is my guess that whatever foul heretics are bunkered down in the city are underground. There could be thousands of them down there."

You call together a meeting of your military commanders to discuss strategy. Frederick, who has led the pacification of the moon, is finally free for duty once more, leaving the remainder of the duties to subordinates, as the vast majority of the moon has been cleansed. You go over the situation before turning to the gathered commanders for thoughts. Frederick, unsurprisingly, speaks up first. "It is simple governor. The enemy is prepared for a ground based assault, so we take them from the air. We use the upper levels of the hive to land troops far above the enemy firing arcs, and work our way downwards. I've faced heretics and I know that in the face of the Emperor's well trained and disciplined soldiers of Krieg, they will break ranks and run farther down. Your defense forces have been well trained by us that even they will strike fear in the hearts of our foe." As Frederick finishes, the Krieg Commisar, whom you remember meeting at the party held by Diaz, speaks up. "Governor, if I may? I've been to many a hive city in my life time and there are a few things I've learned, one of which is almost all hives have heretics or xenos of some kind hiding amongst them. These places are too large to fully route something else. I agree with General Frederick's plan, of course, but I believe once those guns are silenced, we could begin moving in civilians and encouraging them to be on the look out for heretics and their ilk. Perhaps a yearly purge to keep numbers down? At the very least, we could position troops on the ground level and keep the slaves of the ruinous powers trapped underground until they starve."
>What do you think of these plans? Would you like to go with them or ask for other opinions?
>>
>>40247607
I like both of those plans.
>>
>>40247734

Agreed. We will give Fred the freedom to prosecute the air raids and initial invasion and once the guns have been silenced, we can start the mass settling of civilians in the upper levels.
>>
>>40247607
where is the inquisitor, he must have some response to all of this and what is the Mechanicus 's plan.
>>
>>40247734
>>40247766
You nod your head. "I believe this to be a fine plan. Frederick, you may move forward with your air raid. Once the foul betrayers have been driven underground, we can contain them and make sure they never see the sun again." As the meeting adjourns, Helena whispering to a few of her mechanicus associates, Frederick approaches you. "Governor, as you know, I was originally sent from Krieg in order to secure Valencia against the moon spore invasion. Well, the threat has been largely and I should be returning to Krieg soon." You frown, opening your mouth to speak when Frederick holds up a hand. "Governor, I'll be honest with you. I am past my time. It has been many years since I've taken to the battlefield personally. The regiments I lead here in the defense of Valencia are made up of new recruits getting some valuable combat experience, not hardened veterans or proud full soldiers of Krieg. No, it seems command doesn't know what to do with me anymore, so they have me running errands." His honesty strikes you. Normally the Krieg are robotic, almost anticipating their deaths. And here is a man that has outlived the time he should have died. He is the worst nightmare of a Krieger. Growing old. "That being said, defending your planet has struck something of a spark within my heart. My campaigns may no longer be as grand as they once were, but training your defense forces, leading them into battle to defend their homes, seeing their vigor as they grow as a unit. Governor, I live for that. As such, I have sent a formal request to command to have me stay on Valencia as leader of her armed forces, if you would have me do so."
>Do we accept Frederick's offer and give him full citizenship as a Valencian?

"It would be a great honor for you to stay here on this world, Frederick. You have saved this world - it is only fitting that you have some time to spend here. My one condition: you must share some amasec with me and tell me your war stories sometime."

Lets save that conversation for once the hive is no longer a war zone.I like the general's plan but I think that we should strike strategic target on the first wave. You can't tell from the gas mask, but you think Frederick smiles back at you. He gives a salute. "Of course general. I shall send the request..." He turns, taking a few steps before looking back. "After I have routed these heretics from my home." He says before walking off towards his command station.
Three days pass as Frederick organizes the troops and goes over the plan. 4 regiments will be involved in the attack. 2 PDF forces, both of them veterans, 1 Krieg regiment, and a regiment of Skitarii, being involved at the Mechanicus's insistence. They will act as shock troops, with more regiments landed after the guns have been silenced.

Apparently, the enemy were completely unprepared for an aerial invasion. All the heretics can do is fire inaccurate heavy bolter fire up at the Valkyries as they make landing. Within minutes the soldiers make their way down to the ground level. Losses are suffered fighting the combat servitors, the damn machines seemingly unable to be put down, but soon enough they are silenced. The soldiers begin launching flares, indicating that the turret guns are down and it is safe to approach.

A few scouts are lost in the effort, but soon you have a detailed report on your desk of the under hive. Evidently, there is a whole society of mutants, heretics, and aliens living in the under hive. A market place where banished tech priests sell strange technologies. One scout reported the situation as being similar to the under hive of Armageddon, with many random acts of gang violence occurring. Still, it does not appear that the under hive dwellers have any vast armies and there wasn't any sign of, say, a Chaos Space Marine down there.

The gas does manage to permeate into the lower levels of the hive... slightly. The piping network is old, rusted, and altered by the Mechanicus traitors below. So while gas is pumped in, not in highly lethal quantities. The heretics simply move down a few levels, beyond the reach of the gas. Still, this does provide a bit of a buffer zone at least.

The heretics, foolish as ever, did not expect your troops to follow. Stepping out of the gas filled hallways, your soldiers fired shot after shot into the bunched up heretics attempting to flee from the poison. In the chaos and confusion, the teeming masses of traitors only fled, with few putting up any resistance. They were gunned down in the street, bodies littering their former hide outs. Those that did manage to flee are certainly not to underestimate your military might now.

You order for a full pursuit, sending in more reinforcements to give chase. Your soldiers rearm and reload their weapons, shotlas guns charged and ready. They burst down into the next level... to find the streets oddly empty. They move forward, sweeping the streets, but all is quiet save for the sound of some machinery running, likely a generator of some kind. The squad sergeant reaches down for his auspex scanner, when they hear it.
"I HAVE SUFFERED FOR THOUSANDS OF YEARS, JUST AS YOU WILL NOW!"
Smashing its way through a building and crushing one of the guardsmen, a Chaos Hellbrute reveals itself. Its chasis shows its age, the daemon engine built around a contemptor dreadnought. Your soldiers open fire, the shots harmlessly bouncing off the metal hide of the thing. "DIE SERVANTS OF THE FALSE EMPEROR LIKE THE DOGS YOU ARE!" It yells, unleashing a flamer attack. Your soldiers are forced to pull back, running back up to the levels they clear. The Hellbrute follows them all the way until they leave the level, hurling insults at them as they make their escape.

Equip troops with available heavy weapons. Pull back and deploy tanks if possible. Attempt to lure key chaos forces into ambush or traps.

Ship some heavy weapons, start a siege.

Try flooding the level with gas or promethium. If we can't fight the thing right now. At least give it some hurt while we contact someone who can.

You order for a siege line to be established. The chaos forces are trapped down there and you have the numbers and fire power advantage. You have tanks shipped in to help cover the exits. In the meantime, you step up production of the plasma guns, reasoning a full squads worth of them should be able to damage that warp spawned monster.
>(Going to call it a night here guys. I wanna thank everyone who came out to the thread. Next thread will be Sunday around 7 p.m. Hope to see you there. Also, if you have any comments, feel free to leave them below. I would love to know how to improve the quest.)

cool. Would talking the the priest have helped us or would it have just wasted time?

>>40252197
>(That's still an option in the future, so not gonna give out spoilers)

would the inquisitor have been able to give any advice if we could have contacted him.

How is are new city doing?

>(It would be out of his area of expertise. He was a Xenos inquisitor, not a hereticus or Malleus one. He doesn't know chaos. He probably would have just referred you to a colleague of his)

>(Hasn't been much time yet. people are likely just settling in/getting things working again)

Well, I'd like to see perspectives of people other than the PG every once in a while. I get that the fighting between the krieg and the cultists were supposed to be ultrabrutal, but the only thing showed was 'The gasmasks killed so hard the cultists ran so they didn't die to death'. It's more interesting to see Sergeant bumfuck than governor bumfuck's perspective on a battle. Also, I can't tell if we're actually on the battlefield or in a cozy office. We have tanks shipped to cover exits, but do we know that? Commanders know to do that, but they don't know they have tank on order. I guess what I'm trying to say is, know your perspective, and stick with it, give it some different spice for different occasions.
Loving this quest OP, sleep tight.

I'd second this.

Maybe give some descriptions of the mess of paperwork that we're getting or what-not.

Can we get a official pastebin for all the quests stats, assets, buffs, and ingame time?
