As you walk down the staircase, back to the road below, you pull out your phone and flick through your contacts. Right now, you needed to get in touch with your team right now - even if they didn't have Drivers, and even if the only other person who had any Riding experience was Ryoji, you did need to keep in touch and work on communication.

The first person you call, of course, is the aformentioned Birdman himself.

"Been back to my job lately, but tryin' to help out around the town when we can. Trying to manage the Beat Riders along with everything's been stressful. Especially with more Inves popping up. At least the police are starting to take it seriously."

The majority of the team - consisting of the aforementioned Hase, plus Honda, Sakai, and you - meet up in the Tiger Cat cafe, as usual. There's a slightly uncomfortable, tense air around the four of you, and for a moment after ordering, the group is quiet.

Honda's the one that breaks the silence.

"So, what's the situation then, Kinushima? And how come you've been out of the loop for so long?"

"Things have definitely changed around here. I don't think we need another place like the FPZ being wrecked to acknowledge that. I faced a monstrous Inves, and it took 6 Riders giving all we had to take it down. I've been recovering from that these past few days. I just think we need to be proactive against anything like that happening again. I mean, we have the most experience with Inves in this city. I just need input, and wanted to come to you guys first."

And then give a summary of what our week's been like, skipping the parts that sound especially outlandish. Got kidnapped by the Yakuza so they could extort stuff from our mom, only to discover that she's an Armored Rider too. Found a European-styled cathedral in the Forest, still trying to figure out what that's about. And fought the most terrifying Inves we've ever seen, only barely defeated it with a new super-powered Lockseed and five other Riders helping, and now we're worried about how to deal with whatever other super-Inves might be out there.

You take a breath, trying to collect your thoughts.

<Jormungandr and the Slayers are probably not what they need to know, right now. What they need, is the full story prior.>

You chug through your soda, and begin. You start from the beginning of this crazy ride - the meetup with Shun, being harassed and then kidnapped after your trip to the bar with Ryoji. The flare of anger in his eyes is welcomed, but you still continue - the kidnapping, the revelation of your own mother as an experimental Armored Rider, the Yakuza with their own rip-off Drivers trying to extort Mom for the experimental tech. The team's riveted to your words.

Then to the Forest. With the Cathedral - and you make sure to keep vague about it, mentioning that you're still checking it out - and then finally about the Kaiju Inves. Ryoji's eyes sparkle a bit, as you describe the horrifically difficult fight before you were granted the Dragonslayer Lockseed.

"Wait... Dragonslayer?" echoes the team.

"Yeah, it was, like, sparkling on a nearby tree. It's super rare, but I dunno much about it. Has a sick-ass weapon that it has, though. It's like the Junkyard Dog mixed with Gambol Shroud and everything, plus an assault rifle--"

"The what mixed with the what?" Honda questions, arched eyebrow on his stocky face.

"She's... I think...dunno?" Ryoji says.

"Look, it's awesome. But draining. I've been at home, asleep, for the past couple days. I can't do it for too long, it's... eugh. I thought powerups were supposed to be the default mode to work with, but I guess this can't be like the actual Riders."

"So, uh, what's the next step then, you think?" Sakai mutters, not looking up from his phone.

We're limited by the fact that we can only be in so many places at once. The tactic of using regular forces to delay the Inves until a Rider arrives can be very easily overwhelmed. We need to get more out there.

At least when it comes to Armored Riding. Beat Riding we might be able to work something out if we can maintain a separation between the two, get back to the days when it was about the dancing and not Inves games or Rider battles. But it's ultimately a secondary priority, and we'll focus on building unity.

The team sighs and nods their collective heads - even Sakai, despite his utter enthrallment by his phone. "So we've gotta get more Riders on the streets now, before the Inves start swarming. I suppose we've got a choice of what to do from here, but this is also probably one of those things where we should consult with the other team--"

A voice from the front door.

"Kinushima."

You look up at him, and are momentarily stricken dumb. The bandages across his head, on his hands, and even some underneath the half-unbuttoned shirt he wears so casually well, plus the dark purple bruises all around... the dude's been through hell. He still rests against the doorframe, staring directly at you.

"We need to talk."

You sigh and turn to your team for a moment. "I'll be right back, let me know what y'all come up with, okay?"

With that, you stand up from your seat, and walk out to meet the Baron leader. The team seems to pick up in converastion as you leave, but it fades as you lock eyes with Kaito. Together, the two fo you exit outside - muggy, hot, cicada calls echoing across the streets.

"How are you doing, Kaito?"
He shrugs noncommittally, but his left hand's stuck in his coat and has no plans of leaving.
"You're looking pretty well, considering... glad you're okay, but how bad is everyone else? Did that Inves that wrecked the FPZ do this to you, or the one in the Forest?"

"You mean Hammerwing instead of Otachi?" he remarks, looking towards the direction of the FPZ. "Both. Someone needed to get the rest of the Riders together to kick the Inves back to where it came."

"And what happened?"

"Hammerwing trashed us. Jonouchi was the one that finished it off, but the fight went on for nearly an hour."

There's a tone of... resignation in his speech.

"And whatever Jonouchi did was lucky. Dunno how, but still. Never look a gift horse, etc."

He turns to you, arms still crossed.

"What's your plan, besides getting more Riders? Chattel off the street can only do so much, and we don't need chattel in order to fight the INves."

Better coordination between us. Learn how to, if not work as a team, at least use each others' strengths effectively. Get in touch with Yggdrasil, see if we can get access to any of their resources in the forest. They have to have some sort of monitoring equipment in there, ideally we'd be able to piggyback off it. Same thing with the police, get some contacts there who'll be able to alert us more quickly about Inves attacks. All in all, maximize how we deploy our resources. Treat this as the war it potentially is, rather than a hunt.

He... looks a bit offended. Like focusing on Ryoji is making him upset. Specifically, your focus on him.

As Kaito turns away and, rather hurriedly, strides down the road, you look after him with a smirk on your face.

The kid can't be 18 yet. He's headstrong, more annoying most of the time than ANYONE you've come across. Also quite a dick from time to time...

But he's got a determination behind him that's frankly inspiring. His personal values, as far as you can tell, are solid. Given enough time, he could be someone worth getting to know.

You turn towards the door, and can feel your own cheeks a bit hot.

I don't know why, but I like the idea of using normal Lockseed versions of the New Model Riders for a group of Riders. Lemon, Cherry and Peach Lockseeds, no Energy. We've already got non-Energy Melon and (in this continuity) Dragonfruit, could be neat to see.

So, has anyone seen the magazine scans for Drive's final form? Type Tridoron looks pretty cool. Attack 1,2,3 is kind of a dumb looking Tire Shift, but People Saver and Koujigenba are nice. And the suit design itself is damn stylish.

For the transformation and "This world of Light has no place for you, creature! Burn to Ashes and Return to the Void!" For when we use a Finisher on a Kaiju Inves.

As Kaito leaves, your solution seems to form up. You've got a lot on your plate right now, but first and foremost - you needed to get Ryoji the Driver.

You enter once more and sit down, and (unsurprisingly) most of the team has considered the same thought process - Ryoji should get back in the Rider game. Given how long it's been since he's been in action, and given the raising likelihood of Inves attacks, he was Raid Wild's best candidate.

The question now, was how to get him the Driver.
