You quickly settle for asking your father for one of his swords. Since he is a swordmage and the one who taught you, he has dozens! You make sure youve got everything and run out of your room and downstairs in search of your father. You dont find him at first, and start to worry once again before walking out back and finding him training. He slashes the air with a shortsword, the blade glowing as he fights shadows, and swords jingling on his back.

You walk right towards him, and your father, a young and lean man, turns to you and smiles, revealing a mouth full of sharp pointed teeth. He lets go of the sword and it levitates to his back, before he crosses his arms. You stop in front of him and look up into two different color eyes, just like yours.

"Theres my boy, all ready to head out into the big world I see. Come to give your pops a goodbye before you go?"

You run a hand through your hair nervously, before hiding your anxiety behind smiling back up at him with an identical confident toothy grin.

"Wouldnt leave without saying goodbye of course! But, my old blade broke during spell testing, and I really need a new one! Can I have one or two of yours?"

Your father lets out a hearty laugh and puts a hand on your shoulder.

"Anything for my boy. Tell me, which do you want?"

Wait are swords a lock in. Any chance we could just stab giant monsters and breathe fire at everything else?

So many swords, so many choices! As a swordmage, having all these options is like being a little kid in a candy store with all his favorite sweets. Despite this you manage to settle on one sword, different from the one you were practicing with, but you still having some spells for it. You look at the complex hilt on your fathers back, and gesture to it in a manner you feel is confident and cool.

"Can I have that rapier?"

Your father lets out a chuckle, and opens his hand as the weapon floats off of his back and into his hand. He looks at it, examining it closely with a smirk before glancing down at you.

"So my boy wants to challenge the world with a thrust instead of a slice. Before I give you such a fine weapon, do you remember the proper spells for it?"

Of course you remember the proper spells...you think. There are just so many you could learn in time, but for now you focus on the ones you know specifically for the rapier. You outstretch your hand, and your father puts the weapon in your hand. You grip the elaborate handle, feeling the familiar weight in your hands before turning away from your father and towards the practice dummy across the field. Time to show him how its done!

You pull back your arm, holding the sword straight and steady before thrusting forward. The spell activates, and a sharp bolt of energy flies out across the area and pierces the chest of the armored training dummy. You look back to your father with a cocky smile, hiding the nervousness you had felt during the casting. Your father smirks and puts a hand out.

"And the other one? You cant go adventuring with only one spell, unless your me of course!"

You swallow, looking up at your father for a second before assuming the position for the parry spell, blade pointed vertically downwards with your arm up, and a wall of shimmering see through magic appears. Your father claps his hands a few times, and you bow gracefully before his praise.

"Thats my boy, always getting his spells down just right. Anything else you need of me before you run off into that crazy world?"

Setting, so ill tell you more later on, but basically the world is always growing due to bits of other universes, dimensions etc being added by random magical gates. Its anime logic high fantasy, and has a lot of magic(obviously). The current area is a large desert oasis, with a gate close by, and the standards are typical hugs, handshakes, nods, etc.

MC(whos name I shall ask for later)is socially awkward and a bit anxious, but attempts to make up for it by always wearing a smile and hiding his fears and worries under sarcasm, joy, and overconfidence.

Plan to reveal more as we go, but is this enough for now?

If you really wanted us to decide, you put in options that would be considered "normal" for the setting/character, to implicitly explain what is normal for said setting/character. THEN you reveal more as you go along.

What you want before you "run off into this crazy world" is another sword! Sadly you cant decide between any of them, so you choose to just grab one from the basket when you run out of the house.

You look up at your dad, anxiously wondering how he will react to your next action, and spread your arms in a hug with a wide smile. He smiles back and the two of you embrace for a few seconds before stepping back from each other. You nod and turn to the door, running away while waving back to him.

"Ill make you proud dad, I promise!"

He crosses his arms, toothy grin visible from even far away, and yells back to you just before you enter the house.

"I know you will son! Get home safe!!!"

As you run into the house and through the main room you see the basket of swords next to the front door. You quickly grab one hilt at random, pull out a longsword, and smile wide. This will be a very versatile and helpful tool. You have the rapier and longsword float onto your back, and then open the door and walk outside. You feel the hot desert heat beating down on you, and take a deep breath before pulling your cloaks hood over your head and walking into the city.

You see dozens of people of all shapes and sizes walking through the city streets, almost all of them here for supplies before heading out to the gate that opened. To think a magical gate opened so close to your home, your luck must be an oasis right now! You slink by the carts and people, afraid to actually talk to any of them and preferring to keep your head down as you head to the gate.

You arrive at the city gates quickly, a flow of people coming in and out as they head out to this new land. Many are going for gold, some are searching for artifacts and power, and plenty are willing to take any risk to settle this strange new place. You on the other hand(though you feel your not alone)are heading out for the adventure and exploration itself. You walk by the caravans and end up near the shopkeeps and sellers with magic pouches and special items on sale. You even see a weapon store as you walk, and struggle to resist the urge to see their blades.

You move fast and grab some potions you may need for the adventure ahead. You can coat your blades in the potions, and that would be really to your advantage. You buy the potions, lowering your gold amount to 110 pieces, and walk outside quickly. Alright, is there anything else you need to do before you go?

You cant wait any longer, there is adventure to be had! You walk by the people and carts, through the gates of the city, and step out into the wide desert. Behind you people still stream in and out of the city, heading for a number of different places and gates. Your heading to the reported location of the closest gate, and without any further thoughts or doubts(something you normally have)you walk away and leave behind your father and mother. They will be there when you get back, the gate on the other hand wont stay open forever.

You walk silently with a sharp smile on your face, hood blocking out the sun as you proceed to travel through the familiar desert to your location. You pace yourself, knowing all too well the dangers that can occur...

You stretch as you stand up and the heat of the morning sun hits your face. Yesterday was a long day and a longer walk, giving you plenty of time to be hit with doubts and fears. Luckily you overcame them with your own confidence and sarcasm, if only the harsh desert was as easy to overcome. You open your water bottle and quench a bit of your thirst, before taking out and rationing a small bit of food. As you finish eating you continue heading west towards the reported gate, mumbling to yourself as you walk.

"I wish the sun could dry up my oasis of doubts, cause it is definetly overflowing..."

You begin thinking about all the things you may face through the portal, all the places you may go and things you may see. You stop, estimating the trip to be another couple hours after youpass over that dune up ahead, and stretch a bit before taking out your swords. This is some good time to practice with your weapons, no people and no distractions, just the way you like it.

You decide to practice with both of your blades. A true swordmage is a master of both physical and magical combat! Your weapons arent exactly...matching, let alone made for each other, but you feel that you can make a fighting style with them work. The first thing you do is attempt to get a feel for the blades themselves, letting them float around you for a little bit as you meditate on their advantages and disadvantages.

After letting the blades float around for a while, you thrust out both hands and grasp each hilt, the longsword in your left and rapier in your right. You pull back and thrust forward with the rapier, aiming for your opponents heart, and hold the longsword up and back as you do so. Once your rapier connects you move back a shadows horizontal sweep, and slice downward at the same time to chop into its head. You then move to the left and stab one in the head, before sloppily sweeping behind and killing two more opponents.

You practice like this for an hour, attempting to get a feeel for using both blades at the same time. Eventually you feel as if you made some progress, and cross your weapons before bowing to an invisible audience. That was thrilling, even if it only played out in your head.

You let your swords leave your hands and float onto your back. While training is nice and fun(especially seeing the way a blade cleaves through the air)you came for adventure and new sights! You turn towards the dune and begin walking once again, thrilled to see what is beyond. It takes a long time to reach the dune, and as you walk you begin thinking of all the different forms you could create with your rapier and....sword...

Your thoughts trail off as you see the desert dissapear and lead up to a giant stone portal, swiling colors in the middle of it that dont show whats on the other side. Around it are various mushrooms of a number of colors, with some actually being as tall as you! Seeing this whole place really gets your blood going, your adventure is so close!

Its time to go through the portal and see whats on the other side! You head straight for the colorful teleporter, excited and happy as you prepare to go see another world entirely! You run towards the portal, ready to experience an unexplored world...and then stop as a ball of blue fire lands in your path. Your swords are in your hands in seconds, and you look around for where this ball came from, and look up to see a kid in blue sitting on top of the portal.

He hops down and lands behind the roaring blue flames, and smiles with sharp teeth like yours. He has short blue hair, black goggles, and a blue trenchcoat with gold symbols. As you watch him he starts grinning wider, and spins a sword with an odd hilt on his hand before holding it over his shoulder. He turns and walks away, the portal glowing for a second as he dissapears and the wall of flames drop.

Your not gonna take any risk thats for sure. You grip your sword handles and walk forward slowly and carefully, prepared for anything to attack you. Your not sure what his problem was, let alone who he was(or why he was so ominous)but you definetly arent letting your guard down anytime soon. You walk through the portal and upon doing so you feel yourself launched somewhere, and feel yourself hit by nothing but humid heat. Its a very uncomfortable feeling and so is being launched through soace to wherever your going.

Fortunately it doesnt last long, and suddenly your standing on...purple plants? You look up, and your eyes widen in amazement. This...was unexpected.

All around you are towering purple mushrooms, glowing green and blue as they pulse slightly. The plants are all unnatural colors and glow in the gloom thats not quite dark nor light. You turn to see odd shaped flowers and foliage, in appearances and shapes you have never seen before, and they truly fascinate you. You begin to walk through this place, its heavily humid air hitting you and making you feel slightly uncomfortable. As you walk you reach a crack in the ground leading down to a stream of green liquid that seems to be water.

You look up and gasp as you see dozens of jelly like things swimming through the air, and weird saucer shaped animals flying around. Beyond all that though, is an entire sworling circular mass, huge enough to be seen with detail.

You hear a thump as something lands and suddenly wraps you in white and black arms that arent quite furry and yet arent flesh. You struggle,You feel something soft on the back of your head, and when the thing speaks the voice is clearly feminine, though it sounds entirely different than any voice youve ever heard.

"Shhh, calm down. You dont have to struggle or fight, just tell me your name..."

"...Can I tell you when im free?"

The female(you assume its a girl)doesnt respond, and instead merely squeezes you tighter. You can actually feel her breathing, and being this close to a girl other than your mother is rather...new to you to say the least. Should you saw something smart? Act cool? Gr- grope her?! Your really confused, but her arms start to loosen and she stops holding you so tight that you cant breathe.

Instead she grips your shoulders and spins you around so you can see her, and you get the biggest shock of your life upon looking up at her. First off, her ears. They are strange, like animal ears except on the side of her head. Both ears are white with black stripes, and heavily pierced. Second, her skin is dark and yet her blue eyes are surrounded by purple and white...skin. You would say make up but it looks FAR too natural for that. Second are her breasts, and the shirt barely holding them in. You have to actually move back a bit(or as much as she allows)just to see all of her face.

Gripping your shoulders are two hands that are white with black stripes, leading back up to her black skin seamlessly. Last but not least is the massive blue tail on her back, the bulbous end floating right above you. She smiles, and you almost freak out upon seeing that she doesnt have rows of sharp teeth. What is this freak?!

"Now, werent you telling me your name?"

You swallow as you hear her seductive voice, which merely makes you want to run from her more. Between her freaky appearance and being a girl you really want to leave, but you pull your self confidence back and smile at her cockily, causing her eyes and smile to widen.

"They call me Tiberius the swordmage where im from. Tell me, who are you?"

She takes one hand off of you and begins to run it over her impossible curves in a way that should be seductive, but only manages to make you feel like prey in front of a predator.

"My name's Maya...and your my latest meal."
