As your brother helps you stand, Goku's group of friends come over to where the boy and Eighter are. The old man, Master Roshi, is the first to properly introduce himself, followed by Bulma, the purple-haired young woman, Oolong, the talking pig, Yamcha and Puar, who claim to be notorious "outlaws" of some sort, and finally the turtle, who claims he is a tortoise... named Turtle. This planet is strange. You both explain a bit about who you are and what you've been doing.

"So, Maple and Acer, right? And the Ox King sent ya' to help deal with that flaming mountain of his?" Roshi repeats for clarification.

"That mountain is, last I checked, still on fire." you tell the old man.

"Well, I probably have something that can put it out." he says, stroking his beard. "Goku, would you mind taking Turtle to my island? Nimbus knows the way." The boy nods enthusiastically.

"I am going back up north, to make sure there are no more of the Red Ribbon Army's experiments lying around somewhere." Eighter informs.

"Yamcha and I are gonna head off ourselves, and I know Oolong, are you two going with to stay with the old man? I'd be more than happy" Bulma asks you and your brother.

As Goku picks up Turtle and hops on his cloud, your Scouter picks up something peculiar. The boy's Power Level has increased quite a bit, now sitting at 310. What surprises you even more is that your own has increased substantially, now at 176, while your brother's has only jumped up to 147. Haha, you're even stronger than your brother now!

Bulma meanwhile pulls out some sort of small... capsule thing? With a "BAM" it somehow turns into a motorcycle, Puar transforming into a sidecar and Yamcha happing in. Oolong attempts to ride holding Bulma, but the young woman glares at him quite angrily and he quietly sits with Yamcha. They wave goodbye to you as you pick up Roshi and start flying with your brother back in the direction of the Ox King's village.

Along the flight there, flying slowly upon the old man's request, he starts asking some questions. "So... you two aren't exactly from around 'here,' are you?"

"Nope!" you give as your reply, a cheerful smile on your face.

"Hmnh. Didn't think so." Roshi scratches his beard, thinking. "Not exactly familiar with what 'Tuffles' are but seems there's more to you two than what first glance suggests."

"Wait, what?!" your brother exclaims, looking back at you both. "How did you-"

"There's a reason they call me 'Master' Roshi, heh heh!" he gives with a hearty laugh. "I take it there are reasons you two don't want to come out and just say it, right?"

"...yes." Well crap. The old man's a telepath. Of course the old man's a telepath. Why wouldn't he be a telepath?

"Oh, minds can be easy things to read, if you know how." he gives another chuckle. "Don't worry kids, I'm not gonna start blurting out your secrets. We all have things we don't want to start telling everyone immediately. I can see why you're here. Seems this... 'ghost dad' of yours is a bit of a prick."

"A bit." you grumble. Still, it seems... comforting, you guess. Let's hope the old man stands by his word. You finally make it to the Ox King's village, the mountain that is on fire clearly in view. The man himself, and his daughter, come to greet you and your brother again, then he bows to Roshi.

"It's been a long time, Master."

"I'm just glad that you've started to learn some lessons. You always were a bit rough around the edges, not like Gohan." Roshi taps the man on the head with his staff, then turns his attention to the mountain. "Well, I might know of a couple ways to get rid of this fire. You probably want the easy way, don't you?"

The mountain of a man hesitantly nods.

"Chi-chi, you have any idea what they're talking about?" you question the girl still wearing her... mother's armor. Really should try to convince the kid to try something more standard.

"Not a clue." she shakes her head. "But since it's Master Roshi, he probably knows some sort of powerful spell or something that can put out the mountain's flames."

"That must be the easy way..." Magic, of course. Fight magic with ma-

"HOORRAAAAHG!" Roshi shouts as he suddenly gains an insane amount of muscle mass. His Power Level skyrockets too, jumping to over 300, and still climbing. He then cups his hands together. "Kaaaaa... meeeee... haaaaaa... meeeee..."

"EVERYBODY DUCK!" the Ox King shouts, grabbing his daughter. Master Roshi's Power Level climbs to well over 500, and then...

"HAAAAAAA!" He fires a titanic beam from his hands, the vibrant white and blue light engulfing the mountain that was formerly on fire. You and your brother stare in awe as it consumes it, then your jaws drop when the smoke clears. The fire is gone. And so is the mountain. "Guess that was enough of a rest... heh heh! Looks like these old bones still have it." Roshi exhales deeply as he returns back to normal.

"H-h-how did you do that?!" Your brother exclaims in shock.

"The Kamehameha wave is one of the Turtle School's most secret techniques. It took me 50 years to get it just right. Only one other person alive has been able to learn it."

"W-was there a hard way?" you ask in a bit of a daze.

"Yes, but it wasn't the fast way." Roshi gives a shrug. "Besides, I'm sure she has her hands full already..."

You look back at the lack of a mountain.

"If she's going with you, I'm coming too." your brother tries to sound defensive, but you can tell that he's just as interested as you are in learning from the man.

"The Turtle School isn't just some average martial arts school. It's going to be tough, but the rewards both physical and mental might just be worth it. Are you two sure you want to try?" the man asks, stroking his beard.

"HELLS YEAH! Actually, hrm, waaaait a second..." you take a stance much like the one Roshi and Goku did. You cup your hands together, and try to focus your ki into the center. "Ka... me... ha... me... HA!" You thrust your hands forward and... a miniscule ball of energy, more of a "puff" than a blast, escapes them and hits a brick, pushing it about a meter. You can hear your brother laughing at you. You swear you hear Roshi mutter "Oh thank god..." under his breath.

"W-well, ahem, I can understand your enthusiasm, but learning such a technique isn't going to come naturally to everyone." the old man laughs somewhat nervously. "Still, I might be able to take you two on as students. Would you mind helping me to my island?"

"Aww, you're going already?" Chi-chi asks with a frown, looking at you and your brother. "Are you two gonna visit again?"

"Of course!" Acer tells her with a wide smile.

"Mister Ox King, sir, would it be all right if Chi-chi tags along with us?" you ask the giant man and then turn to Chi-chi. "If that's all right with you too, I mean."

The huge man thinks to himself, not quite sure how to answer. He'd just gotten his daughter back, after all, but now she'd be with his old master and two, at least to him, upstanding and well-behaved kids. "Hrh... Chi-chi?" he looks to his daughter. She herself isn't quite sure how to react, but after giving it a moment of thought, she nods. "All right! But you three have to promise to me to take care of her. Got that? Don't drag her into anything she can't handle."

Roshi frowns, but upon seeing the excited looks on all the faces of the youths, he shrugs again and sighs. "I suppose, since you are the Ox King's daughter. All right Chi-chi, you can come too."

The three of you jump for joy as your brother picks up Master Roshi, and you let Chi-chi hop onto your back. With a wave goodbye, the four of you all fly off. With Roshi directing, it's only a matter of time until you reach a small island in the middle of the ocean with the words "Kame House" written on it. Turtle and Goku wave to you, and as you land, you spot another person coming ashore by boat, apparently not noticing the four of you flying.

"Goku, Turtle, this is Chi-chi, we helped her out this morning. Chi-chi, this is Turtle, Master Roshi's friend, and Goku, the monkey boy who helped us stop the Red Ribbon Army." you say as the other girl bows respectfully to them. Goku bows back and smiles as Turtle offers his fin to the girl to shake. "And, heh, I guess she's going to be training with us." you smile back and rub the back of your neck.

The approaching person then makes a leap from his boat, flipping in the air... and crashing head-first into the sand. He quickly picks himself up and pretends like he didn't just fail that spectacularly. You can relate. Your Scouter is picking up a Power Level of... 59? Not bad. Master Roshi approaches the person, a young by about the size of Goku, as he introduces himself.

"Hello Master, the great Turtle Hermit, my name is Krillin, and I am here seeking your guidance as a martial artist." he bows. "And as a gift, please, take these magazines..." the boy gives a sly smirk, handing the old man... a number of magazines with scantily clad women on them.

The expression on Roshi's face makes it clear that he approves of this gift. Great. Greeeaaaaat. But then, he stops himself and tries to maintain a composed stance. "Well boy, I've already agreed to take on some students... but..." he strokes his beard for a moment. "I'm a little short handed at the moment. I'll need someone to help watch over you kids. A nice woman, to help around the house and make sure you all are on your best behavior. Perhaps some sort of... Princess, heh heh, yes..."

"...while I can see his point, sis, I'm not sure I like the way he's saying it." your brother whispers to you.

"All right kids, please come inside, we'll discuss this over lunch." Roshi demands as he walks into his home.

Krillin glances over at the others, a dismissive frown on his face.

"Hi there, Krillin, my name's Maple!" you say to the new boy as you walk in with him, behind your brother and Goku and ahead of Chi-chi.

"...like the tree?" he questions, an eyebrow raised, refusing to shake your hand.

"I guess?" You're gonna have to learn more about this planet one of these days. "The blonde in the red and black tunic is my brother, Acer, and the one in the blue and yellow is Goku. The girl behind us is Chi-chi, the daughter of the Ox King."

"Hmnh. You girls are gonna have to try really hard to keep up with someone like me. I bet even those boys aren't quite as strong as I am." he crosses his arms and grins smugly.

Checking your Scouter again, it's still giving the same numbers. 59. "Actually, I'm the second strongest here, after Goku." you tell him. He snorts at that comment, upon which you realize that the boy has no nose. What a strange world this is.

Roshi hands you all plates with rice and meat, large drumsticks, on them. Goku quickly digs into his meal and devours it messily as Chi-chi eats slowly, your brother and yourself eating at a moderate pace as Krillin watches Goku eat, somewhat weirded out. The old man sits down with you all with his own plate and starts explaining what he wants, in a manner that seems almost like a mystical legend.

"Heh heh heh, clever kid. But you're not going to all do it on your own. You all have to work together." Roshi stands up and points his staff at Goku. "Since you have the flying Nimbus, you won't need either of these twins to help you, Goku."

"Okay Master Roshi!" the monkey boy shouts before letting out a belch. Classy.

"Acer, Maple, you two need to make a choice. One of you has to help Krillin on the way there, while the other has to help Chi-chi."

You look to your brother, and he shrugs. "Either way is fine by me. How about you, Maple?"

"Heh, fine with me, no girls to slow me down." Krillin leans back and looks at your brother.

"Mind if we get a change of clothes first?" your brother inquires. "I mean, we did fight a giant robot earlier. Kinda dirty." He has a point. You look down at your own tunic, the red cloth torn slightly and your white undershirt and tights with some noticeable dirt stains on them. Acer's outfit isn't all that much better, Goku's as well.

Krillin looks at you and your brother. "Wait, what giant robo-"

"There are some outfits upstairs, white shirts and blue pants, you three can take those." Roshi says as he collects your plates. You, Acer, and Goku all head up and get changed, ignoring a stack of... magazines hiding the smaller outfits. Once ready, all three of you march outside, Chi-chi and Krillin waiting. Goku calls for the Nimbus and his cloud swiftly arrives, Chi-chi hopping on your back as your brother picks up a slightly confused Krillin.

"Don't be sad if we find the Princess first." the new boy taunts, your brother rolling his eyes as you and Chi-chi give glares at Krillin.

"On your mark! Get set! GOOOOOO!" Roshi waves his stick in one direction, and all of you blast forth, Chi-chi clinging to you tight as you try to match your brother's speed, Krillin almost panicking as he realizes he's actually flying, Goku ahead of you both.

I don't think there IS much canon stuff about them. They were tech based species. I'd say we gotta hook it up with Bulma but dang Space Monkeys and Space Lizard are already doing it too. Fucking cheaters with imported xenotech.

You have above-average intelligence (as in smarter than the average human), with knowledge of Tuffle lore and the ability to pick up some things easier (you learned how to read a map of the Earth in minutes). You have Scouters that are actually better than the ones the Planet Trade Organization uses (they don't explode if there's too high a Power Level) and know how to repair them if they get damaged. Your "upbringing" also allows you to figure out supernatural aspects of things easier, as your "dad" was/is a ghost along with your first teacher.

You are also currently one of the two most physically powerful Tuffles to have ever existed (most had PLs that averaged around 50, for purposes of the quest).

Taking things slow, you scan the area, first visually, then with your Scouter. Not many strong Power Levels in the area, just your group. Chi-chi keeps a look out too, as Goku ahead of you and your brother heads down closer to the ground.

"Um, Maple...?" Chi-chi tried to get your attention.

"What's up?"

"Thank you." she says with a friendly smile. "Even at dad's village, there aren't many kids who really would associate with me. They think I'm scary, and that my dad's even scarier."

"Not a problem! Honestly, you're one of the first friends my brobro and I have made here."

["I heard that!"] your brother shouts via the Scouter. ["What did I say about that?"]

"That was then, this is now!" you reply teasingly. Your Scouter finally picks up something interesting, a group of above-average Power Levels in a mountainous region. 40s, 50s, some breaking 100 and one at 250. Heading down there, you notice it does indeed have five peaks. Jackpot.

"Haha, all right Chi-chi, are you ready?" you ask the girl on your back. She gives a nod and a determined look. "Leeeet's go!" Flying around carefully, aware that your friend might be in danger if you go too far in, you scout out the surrounding area. Some small openings in the mountains, and a number of what seem to be monsters of various vaguely person-like shapes and sizes.

["Damn it sis, wait up!"] your brother demands through the Scouter. It also alerts you to him, Krillin, and Goku heading your way, about a minute from the general area. However, some of the monsters seem to have noticed you flying around in the open, and are flying towards you. And they don't seem friendly.

"All right you creeps, where's the Princess?" you demand, getting only laughter in response. You fly to the ground, landing momentarily so Chi-chi can hop off. Making sure to lure them away from her, you carefully avoid the monsters flying at you, taking little effort due to the difference in strength and skill. For some reason, the monsters appear to have more modern weapons, attacking you with machineguns. You manage to catch one volley and let them fall harmlessly to the ground, more and more flying monsters trying to attack you.

"HAAAAA!" the girl below you shouts as she throws the blade on top of her helmet at the approaching monsters, slicing a number of them in half. You catch the blade and Chi-chi uses the beam weapon on her helmet to fry a couple of supposed demons. Their attention turned to the other girl, the monsters move away from you and try to rush her... only for Goku, Krillin, and Acer to knock them away. Krillin seems a bit impressed by how Chi-chi handled herself, you flying down and high-fiving her.

"Hrrgg... it's been so long since we last got visitors! Hahahaha!" one monster, a red one with pink horns, odd armor, and some sort of... pink ribbon?... flying on what look like balls of fire approaches you all. Your Scouter registers it at a Power Level of 180, just a little stronger than you. "I'll tell you what I told the last few humans who trespassed in this domain, you won't get the Sleeping Princess, nor will you leave with your lives!"

"MAPLE SMASH FASHIONABLE DEMON!" you shout, doing just that as you fly up and slam your fist into its jaw. The monster flies backwards in a daze, not quite sure why you said that, but deciding it means it doesn't like you very much. It attempts to strike back, you blocking its attacks and countering skillfully, managing to grab it by the arm and throw it over you and to the ground. Gathering ki into a fist, you punch forward with it, shouting "PHANTOM SHOTGUN!"

As it picks itself up, your brother, Goku, and Krillin all uppercut it skywards, Chi-chi following through with another helmet beam, hitting it right as the monster slams into your flurry of energy. The explosion engulfs the monster, it falling to the ground yet again, clearly in pain. Goku pins it by the head with his red pole weapon as you come flying down.

"Why are you keeping the princess, monster?" you demand.

"You... stupid... human... you probably think the Sleeping Princess is one of your kind?" it tries to answer from its daze. "Master Lucifer has much greater plans for it... hah... ha ha ha..." It looks towards the setting sun. "Enjoy that sunset, kids, because it's the last one you'll ever see!"

"The hell does that mean?" you grumble at the monster.

"Master Lucifer... will bring the world into eternal darkness! Hahahaha! The 'princess' you are looking for will be the one to bring about your end! The end of all humans! We demons will rule this world!" it tells you, laughing and finally spitting at you. Your brother steps back and even Goku moves out of the way as you look down out at the thing and then kick it in the face and take its pink ribbon, tying it around your waist. You then angrily kick the thing off the cliff area and into a lake below, the sound of a giant monster's jaws chomping at it.

"...wow." Krillin gazes at you in amazement. "U-um, remind me not to get on your bad side, Maple."

"Sure thing!" you give cheerfully in response. That seems to slightly terrify him. You pick up Chi-chi and your brother picks up Krillin as Goku flies on his cloud with you all, entering into an opening in one of the cliffs. More monsters await your group, but stop and clear the way as another one approaches. It's wearing what seems to be a fashionable suit, and have a far more humanoid appearance to it, save its blue skin and unnerving expression.

"Welcome to my castle, children. I am Lucifer, lord of this domain. You seem to have come for the Sleeping Princess, am I correct?"

"Imma deck you in the schnozz!" you shout as you attempt to do just that. Lucifer, however, catches your fist and his appearance changes drastically, his Power Level jumping from the 100 your Scouter was telling you to a far stronger 250. You're starting to think Power Levels are bullshit if people can just hide them like that.

"Adorable." he says as he casually tosses you aside, your back slamming into a pillar as demons surround you and try to attack you. Acer and Krillin step in, your brother knocking them aside with a series of countering palm-strikes and kicks as Krillin barrages another with a series of kicks, knocking it into the air and then slamming it down with both hands into another one. Chi-chi fires off another beam and blasts the two Krillin weakened, while Goku takes on Lucifer.

"Grgh, what do you even want with the princess anyway?! Just what is this 'Sleeping Princess?!'" you demand as your brother helps you up, Chi-chi rushing to your side and kicking a little pink demon gnawing on your leg aside.

"The Sleeping Princess is the key to destroying the thing we demons hate! That accursed sun!" he responds as he backs away from Goku's barrage, his skills allowing him to hold his own against the boy's strength.

Wait.

What.

Did that thing just say it wants to blow up the sun? Did he REALLY just say that?

He just said that.

Casually punching a demon in the face hard enough to send it flying, Chi-chi dropkicking it to finish it off, you start to... rant. "That is the dumbest idea I've ever heard, even ignoring the logistical requirements of such an act, anything that could destroy a star would result in irreparable damage to the ENTIRE SYSTEM you MORON! Even if you SOMEHOW manage to avoid THAT, you will all freeze to death and DIE. And if that for some asinine reason doesn't happen, everything you could eat will die and then YOU'LL starve to death!" The demon turns to you and frowns, when suddenly...

"Jan! Ken! ROCK!" Goku shouts as he clocks Lucifer in the nose. "SCISSORS!" He then pokes the idiot in the eyes. "PAPER!" and finally slaps him through a wall. Following Goku into the hole he left, you arrive in a room with... a giant beam cannon? Was this the thing he was trying to use to... ugh, even thinking the phrase is starting to give you a headache.

Just when you think this day cannot get any stranger, a blonde woman on a hovercycle comes screeching through the area, a MASSIVE gem in one hand and a machinegun in the other, firing on the demons. "Hahaha, fuck you losers! The Princess is MINE!"

...

The "Sleeping Princess" is a giant diamond.

Lucifer was trying to use to giant diamond to power a beam cannon to... blow up the sun.

"Hey, lady, wait up!" you shout, chasing after the blonde woman. You check your Scouter and it presents you with a Power Level of... 55? The woman's almost as strong as Krillin. Speaking of which, Krillin and Acer decided to team up with Goku and are currently engaging in battle with Lucifer, the former two knocking him into his cannon as Goku starts charging his energy attack.

"Kaaaa..."

While chasing the blonde lady, she sneezes and crashes into the ground, demons gathering around her. You help Chi-chi dash at the demons, who fires a beam from her helmet again as you use your Geist Magnum to clear them out of the way.

"Meeee..."

Upon finding the woman, her hair color has changed to a dark blue for some inexplicable reason. You decide to roll with it, any further time in this place is likely to give you brain damage. Her Power Level has also decreased to a measly... 11? What. What does... never mind.

"Haaaaa..."

"Come with us, lady, we gotta get out of here!" you tell her, both you and Chi-chi helping her up.

"Meeeeeeee....."

You help her and Chi-chi avoid yet more monsters, carrying them both back to the boys.

"HHAAAAAAAAAA!"

Goku's energy wave strikes Lucifer and the giant cannon, the beam consuming both the moron and the weapon... and then continuing along the way, knocking out some of the mountains in the process.

"He seemed like a bad guy, so we had to stop him, right?" Goku says with a laugh.

"I'm glad you're on our side, monkey boy." Acer comments, looking out the hole the beam made, the sky now quite starry, the almost-full moon visible.

"So, um, lady. Who are you?" you ask the formerly blonde woman after helping her stand. "And what are you doing in a place like this?"

"Um... my name is Launch, and I don't really know. I sometimes find myself in strange places after I sneeze."

...makes about as much sense as anything else that's happened. "Would you like to get out of here ASAP?"

"Please." she asks with a bit of a whimper.

"Hey Nimbus!" Goku shouts, the cloud coming to him. "Hop on, miss Launch!" The lady does so, and gently sits on the yellow cloud, a bit surprised. A low growl coming from Goku's stomach reminds you all that you haven't had anything to eat since lunch, many hours ago. "Oooh... I'm beat."

"I know what you mean, gah, what a day. Fight a giant robot, stop a moronic demon-man, I hope things calm down a bit." your brother sighs.

"I'm gonna look around a little bit before I head out." You say, starting to fly around.

"M-mind if I tag along?" Krillin asks. "I might be able to help you a bit." You shrug and pick him up. Quickly making your way to what looks like a library, you and the boy grab a number of the books there, whatever you can find. Mostly educational material, history, geography, astronomy, and a few supposed books of magic. Heading back with the others, Launch agrees to help carry some books along with your brother and Chi-chi.

"Good thinking, sis." Acer nods, Krillin hopping on his back. With Chi-Chi on yours, Launch on the Nimbus with Goku, the six of you head back to Kame House, a bit proud of what you accomplished today. What a day it's been.

"Hey uh, Maple, Acer?" Krillin starts, a bit embarrassed.

"Yeah?" you respond.

"Sorry... and thanks."

Oh god I just thought of something. If Goku and Maple get together (Which I think would just be adorable, Goku seems a little smarter in this quest but definitely not Maple smart. Would make their married life interesting and hilarious at the same time.) Gohan will somehow be even smarter! Think about that for a moment, and with Maple tutoring him and giving him some direction who could really do great things. You know instead of just sitting on his intelligence despite all his studying.

There's a hybrid system of sorts, sort of based on the Xenoverse leveling system. Power Levels are sort of like EXP, though they have an effect on stats as well. Certain techniques allow you to raise or hit above your Power Level, though only to a point. More interestingly, reaching a certain Power Level allows you to truly "Level Up" with certain bonuses to your stats along with some free bonus points.

For Maple, current stats are:

HP: [9/9]
Ki: [o][o][o]
Stamina: [o][o][o]
Melee: [_]
Energy: [+][+]

Meaning you can take about 9 decent hits from someone around your own strength tier, have about 3 Ki-straining strong attacks at your disposal before needing to let your ki recover, can preform 3 stamina-straining actions before needing to rest, and have slightly stronger energy attacks than physical attacks.

Your brother is much the same, but with slightly stronger physical attacks instead of energy attacks.

As for gains, roll 2d20.

Quest started in the Path to Power movie, in which the first Hunt for the Dragon Balls was mixed with the Red Ribbon arc. Goku's never met Chi-chi before now, but for the sake of the quest certain events still will take place much like they did in canon. The 21st World Martial Arts Tournament will take place starting on Age 750, May 7.

The events of the last three quests have all taken place on Age 749, September 9. Furthermore, on Age 750, September 9, the Dragon Balls will be active again.

As for King Piccolo... you'll see.

Most western audiences are more familiar with Z and how it plays out. Not that Raditz is a bad starting point, but it's really just mostly familiar territory.

Furthermore, half of what I've been writing for is sort of based on the direction the thread's been taking the character. At first I was somewhat expecting /tg/ to try to make her Dragon Ball Lina Inverse or something, but things have turned out pretty nicely. I've been trying very, very hard not to make any overt Mystery Twin references so far, in spite of the similar names and the earlier slip-up.

If all goes according to plan, after the Tournament, though if Goku reaches a Power Level of 500 or more before anyone else thereby reaching Level 1 there's a good chance he'll be the first to encounter her before you or any of your current friends do.

On that note, Arale will not participate in any of the Tournaments, for now. Best to keep things fair for you guys, right?

It's a possibility. At the very least, parts of it will be used in the quest.

It should be noted that the Ninja Murasaki brothers and Mercenary Tao are still alive, having not been contracted for work with the Red Ribbon Army. Pilaf and co are still alive as well, and still wanting their own wish, even if it'll be a year before they can even start searching.
