Quest Start

You are Mikage Chiba, second year highschool student age 15, and formerly the third to wear the mantle of the Champion of Love and Justice known as Sailor Moon. Now your little sister carries on the legacy after yourself, your older sister, and your mother.

Moments ago, you, your closest friends, and the families of the original Sailor Senshi who were in the know about this part of their lives witnessed a series of light beams rising into the sky, leaving behind dazzling multicolored displaces along different vectors before disappearing in a massive flash of light leaving fading astrological and magical symbols. Seven lights, seven flashes, seven hopes.

Seven of the original Sailor Senshi have left the earth to set up bases in conjunction with an international paranormal investigation and response task force and a multinational company that has donated time, personnel, and equipment toward such research. This expedition is done in response to a mysterious enemy that has been attacking earth for the past few weeks; and their successful attack on the Gates of Time previously guarded by Sailor Pluto.

The enemy, seemingly tied to survivors of an ancient earth civilization to which your father’s past life was the prince, has been using a corrupting darkness to create weapons out of normal humans.

While your sister and her friends carry on as Sailor New Moon and the Sailor Senshi, you have elected to operate from the shadows to support her under the guise of Eclipse.

Your mother and father know of your activities, as do most of the original Senshi, but you sister remains in the dark of this by your own intentions and guile. Whether this is a good idea or misguided remains truly unseen...because you have issues.

However, in this endeavor you are not without allies. You’ve used the crystals containing the souls of your father’s long dead retainers, Knights of the ancient earth kingdom of Elysion known as The Four Kings, to so far apprentice two trusted people to their tutelage.

Kairi Osaka, your best friend, stands beside you as your Nephrite Knight.

Midori Mori, the friend of your ganguro fashion scene alter ego, has sworn loyalty to you as Jadeite Knight.

The souls of Zoisite and Kunzite remain with you as advisors until you find suitable and trusted people willing to take up arms beside you.

Additionally, you saved your classmate Keiko Sugimoto from a horrible fate. She was the reincarnation of Queen Beryl, ruler of the Dark Kingdom and long possessed by a dangerous cosmic horror known as Metallia. Keiko was to be subsumed by her past life and possessed again by the Metallia entity, but you were able to help her stand against it and purge its influence from her mind and soul.

The only things remaining of Beryl were pained memories and the magical aptitude left to the girl, and the only thing of Metallia left was the sliver of your solar system’s sun’s Starseed left inside of her. Using that sliver, Keiko has become the Senshi of the Sun Sailor Sol and seeks to make right her past evils and repay you for saving her.

Now, you are in conversation with Kairi, Midori, and Keiko having watched the departure of your mother and her court from earth to the planets their powers originate from. The four of you sit on a blanket and enjoy the family picnic meant as a send off party. Your group is being left mostly alone, because as far as most of the others in attendance know, Midori is an outsider who isn’t privy to the secret identities of the old and new Senshi alike.

You have just caught them up on everything that happened at Tokyo Tower from your perspective and the important events of the past few days. With an annoyed sigh you also inform them that time was frozen briefly to allow you to take care of a matter for Sailor Pluto on and beyond the Cherry Road connecting this time and Usa’s time. You gloss over that adventure, and focus on the immediate matters of a clone, a prospective knight, and a ghost.

“No,” Midori Mori says while crossing her arms in an X pattern in front of her, “Monsters are fine, they are physical and are something I can crack in the face with a knee or stab if I have to. Imminent Danger and magic I can deal with,”

She lowers her arms and takes a deep breath.

~Jade-~ you try to interject with her fashion circle nickname only for her to snap back at you.

“I draw the line, PRINCESS,” she puts emphasis on this word and then the word that is the source of this division, ”at GHOSTS. I do not want to be involved with anything that involves ghosts,”

“You were find dealing with Beryl? Technically Jadeite is a ghost,” Keiko wonders aloud, bemused.

“That was different. Beryl was different and Jadeite is awesome,” Midori waves off the notion of being afraid of either of those mentioned and then shares a sharp nod with the empty air to her side before glancing back at Keiko, “Beryl was a voice in your head, possibility of possession aside,”

Kairi snickers and holds her hand in front of her mouth to hide the tight smile playing across her lips.

“Osaka-san, do you have something to say?” Midori snaps around at her in wide eyed accusation.

“I just think it's adorable that you’re scared of something,” your best friend lets loose her laugh, to which Keiko joins.

Midori hides behind her baguette sandwich, clearly embarrassed.

~Its okay to be scared of ghosts,~ you posit, ~but this one is just a scared, lonely, and confused little girl,~

She stares at you, dubiously.

“Ringu,” she explains through mildly upset and stressed eyes, “Little creeper as pale and shaggy haired as your Red Eyes gettup. The minute I say yes to this is the minute my life becomes a horror movie, and not the fun kind. At least in zombie movies there are a ton of somethings to hit!”

For a split second, there is a pressure in your forehead as you glimpse through the haze of possibilities a visions of the uncertain future. There are vague facsimiles to you and Midori braced against the doors to the school gymnasium, holding it back as gray purple hands press against the wire reinforced glass. Something chitters and hisses in your ear as threads of white silk obscures your vision. This fades and you seem to have lost no time of the conversation as Keiko verbally agrees with Kairi that her Midori-chan is being cute.

“Y-your Midori-chan,” she blushes happily at the publicly possessive statement.

“We’re in safe company,” she smiles deviously to you and Kairi, “I think it's okay to be be open about that kind of stuff here...besides,”

You smile, strange vision filed to the back of your mind, as Kairi pales. You know what's coming.

“I asked Mikage & Kairi if they were together after our Princess took a quick snack,” Keiko smiles broadly and then pantomimes a vampiric hiss, “And our Princess is game if Kairi is,”

Kairi hides her face behind her hands while you grin slyly.

“Miki you teasing bitch,” Midori laughs quietly, “And here I thought you were crushing on that guy,”

Kairi groans again. She too has been carrying a torch for a particular boy the two of you had made the acquaintance of recently, and then learned another boy was extremely attracted to her. Your friend had even gone so far as to ask one on a date, because she wanted to and to see how the other would react. Her long battered and destroyed sense of self worth greatly appreciated those circumstances, but your own recent admissions seem to complicate matters. Then when you account for your own little sister liking both the guys in question as well, among others, and in fact making a bold claim and admission of her feelings to the younger of the two....you're actually marvel at the complex trigonometric equation a once simple love triangle has blossomed into.

~I’m complicated, and we’re not going there right now,~ you shrug. ~So, we can revisit the topic of ghosts later, besides Aiha and Rin were interested in helping with it. There’s still the matter of Koito Kino as a prospective Knight and the attempted cloned resurrection of the Queen of Elysion,~

Midori pauses, and takes a deep breath.

“Before we get into active business, I want to address you dragging a very prideful fighter to the sidelines of Tokyo Tower and leaving him unattended to watch,” Midori explains sternly, “I know it loops back into the ‘complicated’ situation, but do you even know how messed up he got because he COULDN’T sit it out,”

You sigh, you supernatural calm keeping you from snapping at Midori’s grievances with your earlier behavior. Its not like she could specifically tell you not to at the time…

She starts into a rebuttal to you and then stops short. She looks at you confused.

“Wait, that’s it? You agree with me?”

~Midori, I was trying to show off for the short blonde brown boy who I want to dress in a pink polo shirt,~ you lean back into the tree, ~of course it was a dumb idea. And now I hear he was hurt on top of it? Yeah. Hindsight and trying to do better next time,~

“Wait...why didn’t you lead with that?” Midori barks quietly before looking over her shoulder at the rest of the picnic before turning back to you, “He gave those things better than he got…”

You all turn around to a shout from Venus-chan and catch sight of a berry snowcone splattering against Aiha Mizuno’s face while Venus-chan laughs. Poignantly, everyone turns back to each other to the matter at hand.

You shrug.

“So what about Koito Kino. Is he compatible with Kunzite as well or is he likely for Kunzite,” Keiko wonders.

“Okay, now I’m just confused,” Kairi groans, “You’re being flirty with me and still-”

~Complicated,~ you offer her a weak smile and then turn back to Keiko, ~and I’m not sure who Koito Kino is compatible with. Haven’t checked yet, we only just found out he could see the extra shadow on me,~

Kairi takes a moment to clear her head and sighs.

~I don’t, but it was keeping her alive,~ you sigh, ~He said he had a safe place to put it...so I’m sure that won’t be a problem,~

“You said her flesh was boiling off the bone,” a shadow falls over her eyes, “That means Metallia’s curse is incredibly deep, but if her flesh is resistant to it...what are they trying to do with her?”

“Puppet ruler?” Midori wonders aloud, “You said she was brain dead,”

“Returning a legitimate body to the throne...maybe they have a way to restore her mind?” Kairi offers.

“Either way, that deep a taint needs to be destroyed or purified,” Keiko offers to you darkly, “Though it would probably be a dangerously big meal,”

~With all that in mind, I’ll talk to my dad about it later,~ you feel the calm finally starting to burn out, ~it’s the only mom he remembers...after all,~

Your slipping mood catches Kairi’s attention as she tentatively grabs your hand.

“Its okay,” she offers as her fingers squeeze yours.

~Red Eyes has been enjoying the action...but she’s out of control and makes bad decisions. I make bad decisions as her, like dragging Sasha along,~ you admit and hunch forward.

“Well, what happens if you put it back together,” MIdori asks.

~I harness the full and total the power of this living earth,~ you explain, ~And maybe use that power to cow the current batch of enemies into surrender,~

“And you think they’d fold to your will after all they’ve done?” Keiko wonders.

~Why not. I’d be their rightful ruler. I’m everything they probably want...a future,~ you say hopefully.

“What if they don’t bow and stop their shitty attempts at conquest?” Midori says worriedly.

Kairi squeezes your hand.

“What about all they’ve done in the name of that future,” she asks weakly, “All the people they’ve hurt,”

Somewhere nearby but far away, you hear Thiago-tio calling his children together so they can pack in and go home and open the restaurant for lunch. The chatter of radio telepathy between Aiha and her father buzzes at the edge of your senses.

Something unfamiliar comes over you. You speak quietly but with a firm resolve despite the slipping happiness and calm granted by contact with your mother’s power. It is something you know, something you’ve touched before. A will. Your will.

“You sounded,” Keiko breaks her sudden quiet, “like a very angry Serenity,”

You go quiet. Its something to think on. After a moment you are able to find your voice again. As you explain yourself, you give Kairi’s hand a squeeze.

~I meant it, though,~ you say quietly, ~I can’t just forgive them for all they’ve done. There will be guilty among them...and they’ll get whatever the people of this world will have from them. I will see justice done...I am no jury or executioner and I cannot judge them free of sin on my own,~

The four of you sit quietly until a shadow falls over your seated assembly.

“May I join you, girls?” says your kind hearted and still fairly young looking grandmother with a smile.

Her glance slides over to Midori quickly. Ah, so that’s her game. She must have something she wants to ask you about related to Senshi matters.

Everyone calls out to one another short goodbyes. You wave quickly back as do your friends and Grandmother Tsukino.

“Well thank you both so much for taking care of my granddaughter,” she returns their greeting while you absentmindedly scratch beneath the chin of the kitten in your lap, “So, what are you girls talking about,”

“Boys, among other things,” Midori offers with a smile.

Not untrue. Boys were being discussed, so were relationships, and then there was meeting out your own ideals of justice upon evil.

“Oh, I see,” your grandmother reminisces, “I guess you’re about that age. Then again Usagi-chan was boy crazy a bit younger. That she snapped up a nice young man with a bright future like Mamoru-chan so soon always impressed me. Have any of you girls gotten anyone special?”

Keiko and Midori both give vague answers. Kairi said she’s trying to get back into dating but isn’t certain, you tow the line that it's complicated.

It's always so complicated.

Aiha and Rin leave, after letting you know they both have plans with their respective fathers for the rest of today, but they’ll be free to help you with your...spiritual exploration tomorrow for sure.

She catches up with everyone, asking Midori how she was after the incident at said launch, and greets you and Kairi. Midori asks her about her posting the ganguro makeup pictures of her own social media, she said she’d tag your circle of course.

Jade cries out for joy. Good, she needs some after the tough act she had to put on earlier tonight. Finally, the young idol focuses in on you.

“Say, PB-chan,” she asks nervously and looking down at her clasped hands, “I have a really big and important idol favor to ask of you,”

~What is it?~ you ask tentatively while marveling at how good she is at making herself look cute.

Keiko watches in interest. Midori is bouncing on her knees. Kairi is chatting with your grandmother.

“Well...say I needed to speak to another artist...at their live show,” she begins while looking up at you with big and doughy eyes.

There is a chill down your spine as she leans in to whisper to you while eyeing your grandmother out of the corner of her eye.

“I need the Red Eyed Beast to dress me up, sneak me in before the show, and get me out unnoticed before things kick up,” her conspiratorial plan is laid before you, “Once I meet these guys I’ll be able to make my decision whether to approve their license,”

You glance over at Midori and Keiko. Kairi and your Grandmother have thankfully not been paying attention. In Midori’s eyes you can see a wavering conflict, sparkle at Venus-chan owing you a solid and her own misgivings about the scene and the sound of this plan. Jade isn’t one for overly aggressive music like metal. Keiko says nothing, but a thin smile seems to be trying to hide beneath her visage.

Venus’s eyes plead up to you, shimmering from their forced bigness.

Hello opportunity.

You need to bring the Red Eyed Beast under control and place that fragment of your overly divided psyche back home where it belongs. Going to a social setting like this with Venus-chan means you won’t be likely drawn into any major violent conflagrations AND you’ll probably have to talk to the youngest Senshi about things.

Talking leads to realization. Realization leads to conversations with yourself. And even if that conversation turns into a kicking and screaming argument, you’ll drag the beast back if it kills you.

It probably won’t kill you.

~Yeah, sure,~ you nod firmly and shrug your shoulders, ~Sounds like fun,~

“It would really mean a lo-wait, you’ll do it?” she drops the act and stares up at you in awe.

Your questioning look down to her makes her shrink back a bit.

“Heheh, this is what I get for underestimating PB-chan,” she says sheepishly.

“What about reigning the Beast in?” Keiko leans in with concern and offers her query quietly.

Midori looks back and forth between the three of you before taking a sharp breath. You think she’s trying not to react to Venus’s talk about things and distract herself with her phone or something. She’s not doing a good job, and yet Venus doesn’t notice.

“Okay, then we need to do a quick shopping trip for supplies,” Venus-chan beams, “Thanks so much for agreeing to help me PB-chan, we can bring the girls to make a shopping trip out of it. My treat!”

Suddenly you feel really good about today, even with the magical happiness faded. There is a sudden burst of optimism inside of you.

Keep in mind that Read Eyes is not an actual monster, she just enjoys giving people that impression, and is impulsive as all get out.

Will be interesting to see what Sakurada's alter ego is like. Judging from his inner dialog and a couple statements about the group, it sounds to me like he isn't violent, physically, maybe not even chaotic. Sounds like he's a stone scary badass that makes lesser bands quake in his presence, with confidence to match. I imagine his songs will be amazingly angry and violent, that's his release valve for being captain calm and collected.
Extrapolating, but that is my theory.

If he were perky and less reserved, I would worry more about his alter ego being super violent to make up for being super nice. ..Then again, Mikage's violent alter-ego loves action and violence, though that's because, deep down, Mikage probably is an action junkie, and has had a lot of serious repressed anger and trauma.

I think Mikage was enjoying her time as the Red Eyed Beast, but the incidents at Tokyo Tower really cowed things. Biggest thing was scaring the young scouts. That stings a lot still, I imagine.

Hair length is good, even the outfit could work. Venus recognized Red's style could fit in, and knows Mikage/Miki has good make-up/costume skills.
Though maybe we could clean up just a little, with fashion in our core again.
Then again, Venus is effectively asking the boogeyman of Juuban to bodygaurd her, so don't want to soften too much.

There was a black coat/top thing worn in one of the BabyMetal videos that I think could make a good alternative to the school top Red Eyes it normally seen with.
Though I'm about to head into work and won't be able to track down a picture for a bit.
