I'M HERE EARLY!

The next few weeks of high school go on with very little of note happening. Classes are a breeze for you and Gohan, the only real problem is controlling your power so you don't give everyone heart attacks with your impressive displays.

Of course, the Tournament is approaching, and that is a topic of much discussion between you and your friends. In fact, most lunch periods are spent with you, Gohan, and Videl talking about training and the various contestants that will be entering. Erasa always listens with genuine interest, and occasionally chimes in, but it's not really a subject she's anywhere near as knowledgeable about as the rest of you. She's not a fighter, after all.

You don't see too much of the others, but the occasional flares of energy you sense tell you that they're hard at work preparing. Even your little sister is spending most of her time getting ready, either training with Cabba, Trunks, or Goten, or practicing on her own under the watchful eye of Icarus.

It's on your mind quite a bit, of course. It won't be like the Junior Division you fought in so many years ago.

You're sleeping soundly in your bed, a few hours likely remaining before Drake comes to wake you in order to train. Your dreams are pleasant, and your mind at ease.

So, of course, something comes along to throw a wrench in it.

As you dream, a sound steadily grows louder within your mind. You can't see anything in your dreams to connect it with, and, in fact, it sounds as if it's coming from all around you.

And, judging by who it sounds like, it just might be. The sound you're hearing is the mocking laughter of one of your least favorite people.

Cell.

Your eyes snap open, and sweat drips down your face as you feel a familiar power in the distance. The power of the person who so rudely interrupted your dreams, and who feels far more powerful than you remember.

Cell.

It feels as though he's close by.

You need to go investigate, but decide it best to bring some backup. You know Drake would come with you, but you aren't bringing your little sister to confront a monster like this.

That leaves you with one other person in your home to bring. You find Android Sixteen outside, and the expression on his face tells you that he has sensed Cell's power as well. With time saved on explanations, the two of you stealthily leave the farm, moving silently through the night sky towards your resurrected foe.

In a field not far from your home, one you frequently use to train with your sister, you spot the monster.

Cell stands below you, in his perfect form, his power far greater than it was the last time you confronted him. His arrogant smirk is the same as it was before, and you get the feeling he's every bit as mad as he was during your last encounter. The power radiating from him is frightening, as is the look in his eyes.

Something about him is different, however.

"Ah, Kaguya, so good to see you again," he greets, stepping forward. "And Sixteen, I'm a bit surprised that you tagged along for this little reunion."

As he steps closer, the difference becomes clear. His skin isn't green like you remember, but blue.

"Well, I guess peace was nice while it lasted," you comment. "So, are you a Cell Junior?"

The blue Cell beneath you grins. "I suppose you could say that, but, for all intents and purposes I am Cell, albeit an improved version. I've been waiting a long time to see you again, Kaguya. It has been many years since the Cell Games."

"What do you want?" you demand.

"The same thing that my late father wanted," the creature tells you pleasantly. "To test myself against the strongest warriors this planet has to offer, to prove once and for all that I am the ultimate life form."

He rises from the ground, floating towards you and Sixteen, glancing between the two of you as he slowly approaches, the grin not leaving his face.

"And now I have the perfect opportunity to do exactly that," Cell Jr. continues. "I'm well aware of the upcoming World Martial Arts Tournament, and am assuming that you intend to enter. I will be entering as well. And, though the tournament on its own is, from what I hear, rather exciting, I intend to raise the stakes."

"Elaborate," Sixteen demands.

"Of course," Cell replies politely. "It's rather simple. I am going to make the same terms as my father. If I win this tournament, the world is mine to do with as I please. Honestly, I'm not entirely sure what I would do with it yet, but I'm fairly certain you don't like the idea of me controlling this planet. So, if you win, or anyone else does, for that matter, I'll happily do you the favor of not destroying your precious Earth."

"Not at all," he answers. "Kaguya, when one possesses power like ours, the only thing to do is find others with comparable strength and battle with them. What good is such power without the chance to test it? You of all people should understand that."

He floats back a bit, studying you with a serious expression before grinning again. "Your power has grown by a vast amount since you battled my father. Truly, this will be a contest worthy of me!"

"Your power has grown, too," you observe. "How did you get so strong?"

"The same way you did, through training," he answers. "I have had years to prepare, after all. And, King Piccolo was kind enough to provide me with nourishment during his brief reign. Absorbing his children greatly increased my power."

"My sensors cannot get a reading on your current level of strength," Sixteen announces.

"I wouldn't expect them to be capable of comprehending the power I now possess," Cell tells him. "But rest assured that Kaguya's is not far from my own."

His attention returns to you. "Were the two of us to do battle right now, I am uncertain who would emerge the victor. All I know is that the battle would be fierce, and neither of us would escape without injury. And the thought excites me. I am certain that we will each be even stronger when the tournament comes, and shall have a truly amazing confrontation. Of course, I will adhere to the rules of the tournament. I will not kill anyone in the ring, and, should I lose by ringout, I will accept defeat. Of course, I have no intent of entering if you are not there, and shall seek entertainment in my own way."

Cell vanishes into the darkness, his power level vanishing as he lowers it in order to conceal himself. You and Sixteen remain where you are, hovering in the sky.

"Cell Junior's return is troubling," Sixteen tells you. "His power clearly exceeds that of his father, and his temperament seems to be nearly identical. If he is not defeated in the tournament, the world could suffer greatly for it."

Sixteen nods. "I am confident in your abilities. And, during your last encounter with Cell, you were at a greater disadvantage in terms of power, yet achieved victory. If what Cell Junior claims is the truth, your powers are nearly equal."

"Are you going to enter?" you ask.

"Negative," he answers. "My strength is insufficient to achieve victory within the tournament. Besides, I do not care for fighting."

You nod, accepting that answer. "Let's head home."

"Affirmative," Sixteen responds. "However, you may wish to know that your sister is observing us from close by, and you may wish to speak to her, if she observed the conversation you had with Cell."

Sixteen points to a nearby spot, then begins making his way back home. You, on the other hand, keep an eye on that spot, and, eventually, your sister emerges from hiding, staring up at you in curiosity.

"Kaguya, who was that blue guy?" she asks as she hops into the air and floats over. "He felt strong."

"Fine," you tell her.

Your sister grins and flies over, giving you an excited hug before floating back and getting ready to fight, her expression quickly becoming focused and serious.

"Why are you so worried?" you ask.

"Cabba, Goten, and Trunks have gotten really strong!" she informs you. "They all learned how to become Super Saiyans like their dads!"

Now that's impressive. Managing to reach that level of power at such a young age isn't easy. Gohan was the youngest Super Saiyan you had ever met, and he only gained that power through emotional turmoil. You aren't sure how the others did it, but you can certainly understand why Drake would want to train extra hard before fighting them.

The two of you spend the next several hours training, exhausted by the time you make it home for breakfast. Your mother lectures you on getting enough sleep, but lets it slide. She trusts you to make sure you're able to balance school with your training for the tournament.

Your sister, meanwhile, passes out halfway through breakfast.

School that day goes fine, Videl has to leave class first period to stop a robbery, but otherwise nothing of any real interest happens. Still, that redheaded girl keeps staring at you in every class you have with her. You're not really sure what that's about, but she acts really embarrassed when the teacher calls her out on it.

Lunch period rolls around, and you sit with Gohan, Videl, and Erasa, all of you enjoying some of your mom's stew. Your mother has taken it upon herself to pack enough of her food for you and each of your friends every day, much to their appreciation.

"It wasn't so bad," Erasa answers. "I think I did fine."

"Really?" Erasa asks in amazement.

"They spend a lot of time studying," Videl reminds her, continuing her own lunch.

"How's training going?" you ask Gohan and Videl.

"Pretty good," Gohan tells you. "I've been working a lot with my dad and Goten, and we're all getting stronger."

"Oh yeah, that reminds me, did you know Goten can become a Super Saiyan?" you ask.

Gohan grins. "Sure did! And at such a young age, it's incredible!"

"What's a Super Saiyan?" Erasa asks.

"I'll explain later," Videl promises her. "And a transformation won't save you, Gohan. I'm going to win that tournament."

"Speaking of the tournament, guess who I saw last night?" you ask.

"Nappa?" Gohan asks. "Or did Vegeta stop by for a little trash talk?"

"The Cell Junior that got away during the Cell Games," you answer.

Videl practically chokes on her food, and Erasa's eyes go wide.

"CELL?!" Gohan shouts, drawing stares from much of the cafeteria.

"Gohan, keep your voice down!" Videl hisses.

"S-sorry," Gohan says, glancing around nervously.

"He helped kill Cell," Videl corrects, giving an amused smirk at her friend's shock. "Between him and Kaguya, I'd be pretty scared if I were Cell."

Gohan closes his eyes. "If he's a whole lot stronger than his dad, I have to make sure I train extra hard for the tournament. We have to stop him."

"You might want to train without your dad so you have a few ways to catch him off guard if you fight him," you suggest.

"That might be a good idea," Gohan agrees.

"I don't really have that problem," Videl comments.

"Why, does your dad know all of your tricks?" Erasa asks.

"No, I'm just stronger than he is," Videl says simply.

"What? Are you sure?!" Erasa gasps.

Videl nods confidently. "Of course I'm sure. Training with him won't give him any better a chance of beating me."

Basically after Gohan got his saiyaman costume from Bulma in the canon timeline he decided to fly with it on to school and landed on the roof thinking no one was there, but this redheaded girl sees Gohan and threatens to reveal his secret unless he goes on a date with her. Yadaa fast forward, it is then revealed that the secret the girl knew was in fact that Gohan still wears underwear with animal faces on it. Instead of it being that Gohan was the great saiyaman.

The rest of the day is uneventful, and after school, the three of you say goodbye to Gohan before making your way to Videl's home. As expected, it's rather large. Though, knowing Mr. Satan, you're a bit surprised it isn't another castle.

The three of you head inside and sit down in Videl's living room, getting out your textbooks and notebooks and studying for the history exam. It's all stuff you've covered in your studies with Gohan, so this is nothing more than a small refresher. Still, you make sure you have retained all of the information. You don't want bad grades, after all.

Videl seems pretty focused, as her expression remains serious as she goes over her notes. Erasa is, unsurprisingly, smiling to herself, tapping her pencil against her chin as she thumbs through her own notes.

"Well that's sweet of you," Erasa says with a smile. "And it sounds great. How about it, Videl?"

"Well, why not?" Videl says, standing up.

"And you know, Erasa, you're right," you comment as you stand.

"About what?" she asks.

"Videl is a sweetheart when she isn't trying to land a kick on you," you answer before immediately ducking as Videl throws a kick at you.

The three of you head to the movie theater, finding that it's surprisingly crowded. You're not entirely sure why, until you see that a Saiyamen movie is premiering today.

"Wow, the Saiyamen!" Erasa shouts gleefully. "Can we see that one, Kaguya?"

You and Videl exchange nervous glances.
