You are a young human doctor, abducted by the K'tulu, and recently released by demand of the Galactic Senate. For the last couple of days you've been preparing for an expedition into the ruins near the city, today is the last day you have before the expedition begins.

The dull light of early morning shines through your hotel room's window as you step out of the bathroom, leading you to glance out at the alien display of purples and oranges that experience tells you will eventually mellow out to a pale purple later on in the day. You're momentarily struck by the strange curiosity of whether you'll eventually become as inundated to the different skies of various planets as you were with Earth's same daily displays before you were abducted. Thankfully you manage to shake the thought away before it can settle in and, instead, turn your thoughts towards what all you need to do today while getting dressed.

Tobias said that he would be heading into the bounty office to cash in the bounty first thing this morning and, while you'd rather not bother him too early, you figure that you should probably see him about getting your cut from the job yesterday before you go anywhere. You also got a message from Angelicia last night saying that she'd gotten the first half of the payment for the expedition and that you should all meet her at some point today to pick up your shares. With that in mind, you should have plenty of money to spend on anything you might need to pick up in the market today, though unless you're trying to wake either of them up by knocking on their doors this early in the morning it may be best to turn your attention elsewhere until one of them calls or comes to see you.

As you finish lacing up your boots you lean back against the couch, trying to decide what you want to do to pass a few hours. You could head down to the lobby and pick up some breakfast, even if you question the validity of calling it 'food', you should still eat. You briefly consider dipping into your rations to avoid having to brave the dangers of the breakfast buffet, but then remember that you had been planning to use those either during the expedition or in a greater emergency if your employer actually ends up having any edible food for humans. Of course missing one meal is hardly the end of the world, so if you decide against doing either you should be fine.

If you'd rather not go downstairs to eat then you could read one or two of the books that you've collected on your tablet, after all you spent money on most of them so it only makes sense that you should actually use them. You also debate the merit of heading down to the gym on the second floor, you haven't been there yourself yet but Angel seemed to like them. Apparently there's even a small training area for psionics to exercise their powers, though you do wonder if it would be smart to try and train your abilities without anybody there to help if you push too far.

>So, what do you want to do?
>Go eat breakfast. It may taste disgusting, but you still need to eat.
>A little knowledge never hurt. Go ahead and read for a bit.

The more that you think about going downstairs and subjecting yourself to the war crime that they call food, the more that you realize you'd rather go hungry, at least for now. You briefly consider heading down to the second floor to the gym, but then realize that after just getting dressed and taking a shower it would be kind of counterproductive. Instead you lean forward to snatch your codex off the coffee table in front of you and power it on.

As soon as the screen blinks to life and finishes all of its obligatory welcome messages you swipe past the extranet links to browse the titles of the books you've got. You've finished all of the manuals that you got from G'las, but luckily you picked up a few more more books in the market. The benefits for you reading your medical books are obvious for you, and the same goes for checking out the biology book you bought, though it probably wouldn't hurt to start trying to learn some of the basic customs of the different races you're sure to meet out here.

What do you want to read?
>Galactic Biology 721
>Basic First Aid for Common Species
>Emergency Trauma Care for Galactic Civilizations
>Customs and Cultures of Various Galactic Civilizations

As a side note guys, you're welcome to put in suggestions for Codex searching topics for me to write later on. I mean, I could write them out now but it'd take longer to post than I'd prefer. If you want to toss them out here or on my ask page, I'll check them out and write them up for future reading options.

Gonna let the vote go on just a bit longer since we don't have a definitive decision yet and three quarters of the vote doesn't make for a good final destination vote.

Also, if you split your focus between two books then you'll only get about half of what you would get from concentrating on one. You'll still get bonus, mind you, they'll just be spread out and the books will take longer to finish.

You flip through the books you bought on your codex tablet, eyes scanning your slowly growing selection of reading material before finally landing on the Galactic Biology book you bought. While you obviously already have a fairly firm grasp of biology on many levels, you decide that it certainly wouldn't hurt at all to at least look at the distinct biologics for the different races in the galaxy. After all, even if you do have the utmost confidence in yourself as a doctor, it'd be beyond arrogant to just assume that all of the different species out here shared the exact same biological traits as humans.

With that in mind you tap on the title and lean back into a comfortable position as you start to flip through the book. You're not particularly surprised to learn that a large amount of the most basic biological facts from Earth hold up out here as well, plant and animal cells having largely the same structures as their terrestrial counterparts, though you are a little surprised to read about the makeups of the various plant-animal hybrid species that, while rare, do exist in the galaxy. Apparently it was thought for a long time that while such hybrid species exhibited some signs of intelligence they still never went on to achieve full sapient status, though it would seem that theory was debunked a couple decades back when a space-faring civilization of said hybrids emerged.

As you move on, past the chapters on genetic diversity between separate races, which admittedly mostly goes over your head, you learn that, depending on the parent species, it's possible for some races to interbreed with each other. It would seem that despite the rarity of it, a growing minority of interspecies children are spreading through the galaxy. Finally, beyond the talks of various genetic diseases you come to the chapters of the book that start to break down different species' biological functions and anatomy.

I still say that it only happened because the regulars went to get food and a bunch of lurkers decided to say "Lets mess with the quest some"

Now I am going to just focus on Galaxy now
>>
>>39938100
While you do plan on eventually reading through all of the species on the ever expanding list, if at all possible, you decide to skip forward to the races that you've met and heard of first, starting with the Avnari. You can't help but be absolutely fascinated with the various similarities as well as the blinding differences between the various races in the galaxy. You manage to make it through a few different species, including the Lenoshans, K'tulu, and even manage to identify the large alien who's face you burnt off as a Z'ho'don, and that you were right about his species having a redundant nervous system.

Ultimately however, despite your enthusiasm with the book, you find yourself having to back out of it. After all, even though you could read with plenty of interest for the rest of the day, there's still only so much of it that you can retain in one study session.

[Chapter 3/15]

>+1 for first aid and medical procedures for aliens.
>+2 for diagnosing symptoms for aliens.

You set your codex back down on the table and stand up to walk around your room, stretching out your legs and popping you neck and back as you do so before glancing at the clock built into the wall. It looks like you passed a good three hours reading. By now Tobias should have been able to get back from the bounty office. You figure that Angel's probably up by now too, and theoretically the cyborg would have to head to see her soon in order to pick up Lizzie, so you could just kill two birds with one stone. Then again, just because you might not be able to retain much more from the biology book doesn't mean you can't read more if you want, though you don't know how much longer you'll have before you're interrupted.

[Options in next post.]

You decide that, even as much as you enjoy reading, you should probably go ahead and get the rest of your day underway. After all, aside from picking up your money you've also got a few other errands that probably need to be ran today. You make a cursory sweep of your room to make sure that you aren't forgetting anything, quickly grabbing your pistol and shoulder holster in the process, and head out into the hall.

Thankfully, after having made the trips a few times in the last few days, you practically know the way to your friend's room like the back of your hand and it only takes you a few minutes to navigate the labyrinthian halls and arrive at her door. You press the buzzer and step back, left to wait until finally the door slides open to reveal a somewhat bedraggled mechanic clad in a too large t-shirt and a pair of shorts, though you notice her tired face light up a little as she steps forward and pulls you into a short hug, "Morning, Doc. Come on in, we were just getting ready to have some breakfast."

A small smile crosses your face as you return her hug before following her in, making sure that the door closes behind you, before suddenly being assaulted by what is quickly becoming a typical greeting by Lizzie, "Good morning, Doc! We're making pancakes!" The little girl informs you in a helpful tone while you return her hug as well before she trots back towards the kitchen where she returns to her duty of beating a bowl of eggs.

Angelica lets out a tired, if amused, sigh as she shakes her head, "This is practically all she's wanted to do since she woke me up this morning." She tells you with a good-natured roll of her eyes, "Not that I can really blame her, it's not like anything they serve down in the lobby is very appetizing."

You nod in agreement, about to comment on it when your stomach gurgles petulantly, reminding you of the lack of attention you've been giving it and drawing a soft laugh from your friend. "Sorry, I didn't exactly want to go downstairs this morning either." You explain, drawing a teasing smirk from her.

"Uh-huh, I think you just wanted to take advantage of my hospitality by stealing the pancakes that Lizzie and I were slaving away to make." She prods, clicking her tongue in disapproval, "Shameful...well, if you want any of them you'll have to earn them."

You quirk an eyebrow at her, a smirk of your own tugging at your lips as you close the distance between the two of you so that Lizzie can't overhear you, "I'm sure I could think of a couple ways that I could do to-" You start, grinning at the sight of her cheeks blushing a little as your breath tickles over your ear.

"As tempting as that may be, Jack." Angel interrupts, planting a light hand on your chest to push you back a couple of steps, "I meant that you're going to have to help make the pancakes."

"But of course." You shoot back, adopting an innocent look while the punk looks at you skeptically, "What did you think I meant?"

Your friend rolls her eyes, pushing past you to make her way towards the kitchen, "We both know what you were thinking, Doc." She deadpans, though you notice that aside from Lizzie being here she doesn't seem to have too many objections. Still, she is right, and that's not at all why you're here right now anyways.
[Continued. Sorry about the wait guys, got sidetracked a bit.]

"You're always expecting the worst out of me." You sigh, adopting a wounded expression while following and accepting the plates that she shoves into your hands.

"That would be because I know you."

Lizzie looks up with a small amount of confusion on her face at that, "But...Doc's not a bad person, Angel. He's our friend..."

Both you and Angel look down at the little girl in surprise, though you're the first to recover from her question as you cast your friend a smug look, "Yeah, Angel, I'm your friend. How could you say those kinds of things about me?" You tease her.

Angelicia lets out a low groan at your needling while she gently takes the bowl of eggs and adding in the rest of the mix, "I know he's our friend, Lizzie, but he can be a little bit of a jerk sometimes, and I was just teasing him about it." She explains with a sigh, while the little girl just looks on before shrugging.

"Well...okay, if you say so, Angel. You should stop being a jerk, Doc. You're too nice to be mean to your friends too."

A somewhat nonplussed expression dominates your face at the little girl's decision to change her admonishment towards you while the punk mechanic laughs, "Alright, Lizzie. Why don't you go ahead and go wash your hands while I start cooking these. It won't take very long."

The little girl nods quickly and heads towards the bathroom to clean up while you finish putting out the plates. "So, I'm glad that you came over to see us, but I'm assuming that you came for your cut of the money?"

It takes you a couple of seconds to process the sudden change in topic before you shrug, "Well yeah, but it's not like I didn't want to see you guys either." You reply simply while she nods.

"Fair enough. Well, why don't you go ahead and eat with us and then I'll get you your credit chit once we're done? I'm sure that Tobias will be around soon to pick up Lizzie if you want to stick around for a while." She offers, her tone of voice sounding more or less like she was expecting you to eat anyways.

You offer her a small smile as you return to the kitchen to grab the glasses and set them on the table as well, "Sounds good to me, Angel." You answer as she starts stacking up the pancakes on a plate next to the griddle while Lizzie returns from the bathroom to sit at the table.

It only takes a couple more minutes for Angel to finish up the pancakes while you and Lizzie talk at the table, the little girl showing off her nails while she sets the pancakes on the table and dishes them out to both Lizzie and herself while you grab your own serving.

A comfortable silence lapses over the three of you as you dig into your food, leading you to once again marvel at the miracle that is a good meal. As you finish and go to rinse off your plate you hear the buzzer go off. You glance up at the door curiously while the mechanic goes to answer it, before turning your attention back to doing the dishes as your friend returns to the dining room with Tobias, Tom, and Julius in tow.

"Hey, Tobias!" Lizzie chirps as she finishes off the last of her pancakes before jumping off her chair to deliver her typical greeting while Angelicia disappears back into her room for a couple of minutes before returning, fully dressed and holding three separate credit chits.

"Alright guys, here you go. Sixty-five hundred credits each, we'll get the other half after we get back." She says, offering you a smile as you accept yours after drying your hands.

"Alright, cool deal." Julius grins, pocketing his credits while Tom nods and does the same, "I should be able to afford that armor that I was looking at now."

You raise an eyebrow at him, a little surprised that he'd found a set of armor that would actually fit, though you suppose that if Freida found one then maybe it's not so hard.

With that thought in mind you glance around at the people in Angel's hotel room, realizing that aside from Tobias and Lizzie, you're all probably going to have to hit the market today. You wonder if you should invite any of them to come along with you, or if you should just go ahead and go by yourself once you get your credits from Tobias.

Do you want to invite anybody to go with you?
>Sure. Who do you want to invite? If they're not here you can call them.

The more you think about it, the more you wonder if you should just go ahead and invite everybody along to go shopping with you. After all, pretty much everybody's going to need to get stuff and while you're not sure that you can promise an extension of your discount at Pa'tque's to them you could ask about it seeing as how it would surely be a pretty big boom in business for him.

"Well, I can't say anything for sure, but if any of you guys want to come with me I might be able to get you a small discount at this Armorer shop I found. He promised Tobias and I a discount if we did him a favor, maybe I can get him to extend it to you guys if we all come in at once?" You suggest, drawing interested looks from the three adults that didn't already know about the deal.

"Look at you, Son. Barely here for a week and you're already signing contracts, doing favors, and making deals...maybe you'd make a good businessman after all." Tom says with a laugh, drawing an amused grin from both Angel and Julius before he shrugs, "Well, I can't see any reason why not to come along. I probably need to see about getting some kind of armor too anyways. It wouldn't do for me to make it through two wars just fine and then end up getting killed by some punk that got lucky. That'd just be insulting."

You're not entirely sure how to respond to that, though thankfully you don't have to as Angel waves him off with a playful grin, "Let it go, Tom, nobody wants to hear about your time in the Continental Militia." She quips, drawing another grin from the old man before she nods at you, "I might as well go too, if I can get a hold of the others anyways. I still need to make sure that they get paid before I can go anywhere."
[Continued.]
>>
>>39940280
Julius nods in agreement, though a somewhat disappointed look crosses his face, "Man...I really wanted to get that suit that I found." He sighs, "But I mean, hey if I find something else just as good there and it's cheaper then I guess that's good too. I'm with ya, Doc."

You nod at the three of them before turning your attention Tobias and Lizzie while Julius and Tom continue the conversation and Angel taps her commlink to call Freida and Abi. "What about you guys, you interested in coming along?" You ask curiously.

The cyborg shakes his head, drawing a somewhat disappointed look from his sister though she seems to accept it fairly quickly as he dips a hand into one of the pockets on his suit and brings out a credit chit for you. "I appreciate the offer, Jack, but I've already got some plans for Lizzie and I today." He replies, his head cocked slightly to the side as the little girl brightens up a little bit at the news. "I do hope that we can see each other again before you head out tomorrow, but if not then good luck on your trip. We should still be here now that we've got the money to pay the room fee." He adds, his voice buzzing a little as he says so, prompting Lizzie to give you and Angel a hug before waving at the mechanic and turning to lead his sister back out into the hall.

Just a few moments after he heads out the punk makes her way over towards you, gathering Julius and Tom along the way, "Alright, well I managed to get a hold of the other two and they said that they'd join us. So it looks like everything's a go for us, it's just a matter of when you want to head out." She says with a grin and quite a bit of poorly hidden excitement, "It's been forever since I've had the chance to go on a shopping trip with friends!"
[Continued.]
>>
>>39940545
You smirk at her enthusiasm, though you can't necessarily blame her, you're honestly kind of excited about the prospect of actually doing something with a group of friends yourself. Still, you do have to remind yourself that there is a legitimate business reason for this trip. After all, if you don't get the things that you need then you could end up stuck between a rock and a hard place.

With that in mind you wonder if you might want to take your suit and the jetpack you 'acquired' yesterday with you to Pa'tque's. After all, if you're going to get it installed then he's probably the one to talk to...though if you'd prefer to just go ahead and sell the jetpack off then there wouldn't be much reason to bring your armor along at all.

Do you want to take anything with you?
>Nah, the jetpack can wait for another day.
>Hell yeah, this is a jetpack you're talking about. You want to get it installed on your armor as soon as possible.

>"It's finished, Jack Yarrick. I was surprised at how easy it was to work with, considering its unique design, but it would appear that, as far as you speaking at least, your people are quite similar to the Quazar so I was able to use that as a sort of reference."
I don't think finding armor that suits humans would be that hard, sure they may pinch in some place and require streching in others but he repaired our helmet in the time it took Tobias and Jack to come up with a plan.

You decide that if you're going to be heading into Pa'tque's anyways you might as well go ahead and get the jetpack installed while you're there. As that thought crosses your mind though, so does another...it would be one hell of a pain in the ass to try and carry all of that gear there by yourself. With this revelation you turn your attention back to your friends, just as Angelicia declares that she's going to go ahead and run to meet up with the other two girls. "Alright guys, it's time to get out of here, we'll meet you at the shuttle terminal in the market." She tells the three of you as she ushers you out the door.

You nod in response while the other two men do the same, Tom quickly disappearing down the hall in the opposite direction of the mechanic while you're left with Julius who simply stands there awkwardly for a moment before you turn to him with a somewhat calculating smile, "Hey, Reece, you want to see something cool?"

The swordsman gives you a strange look, raising a somewhat skeptical eyebrow, "Mmmaybe? I mean...you're not still mad about the whole thing with Angel are you?"

You roll your eyes, shaking your head, "No, of course not. Anyways, come on, I need your help moving something to the market." You tell him, only to receive a betrayed sounding sigh from him.

"The little people ALWAYS ask me for help with moving stuff." He complains in a teasing tone as he follows you. You're momentarily tempted to snap back that you're not -that- short before deciding to let it slide this time. After all, you are going to make him carry the crate...he just doesn't know it yet.

It's midday by the time that you and Julius meet up with the rest of your group at the market, with both your armor and the still crated jetpack in tow. The two of you garner confused looks from everybody in the group except for Freida who merely smiles and shakes her head as she sees the crate in Julius' hands. "You simply couldn't resist, could you, Doctor?"

You shrug, offering her your typical attempt at a roguish smile while the rest of the group continues trying to understand what it is that you've got your friend carrying. "What is zat, Julius?" Abigail asks the swordsman, her freckled face filled with curiosity.

Reece simply huffs in annoyance at the question, snapping his head in your direction as he responds to her, "Hell if I know, Abi, Jack still hasn't told me or let me open it up."

Both Abi and Angel blink, the latter's lips twisting into a soft smirk at the revelation while Freida simply lets out a scoff, "Really, Jack? It's not that impressive."

You simply stare at her for a few moments as if she'd uttered the most alien sentence you'd ever heard before shaking your head in disbelief, "Your standards are clearly way too high, then." You shoot back, drawing a short, if still somewhat confused, round of laughter from everyone in the group. With your position on the importance of your jetpack made known you go ahead and step forward into the market. "Alright guys, let's go ahead and get going. Pa'tque's isn't too far from here."

True to your word it doesn't take you very long to lead them past the various stalls filled with toys, alien foods, and other various trinkets and bobbles and into the long alley where you found Pa'tque's emporium. The now familiar tone chimes as you push into the small but impressive shop, drawing the alien armorer's attention towards you. "Ah, Jack Yarick! It's good to see you again, and you brought more friends! This is wonderful, just wonderful, Jack Yarick!"

You smile at the alien's enthusiasm, stepping forward and setting your armor down on the counter before accepting his friendly handshake from the shop owner's lower left arm, "Hey, Pa'tque, how are you doing?" You ask, only for both your and Pa'tque's attention to be momentarily stolen away as Julius heavily sets the crated jetback down next to your suit.

"Oh...I am doing well, my friend, very well. I heard that your raid of the Black Suns' compound was successful, I hope that it was very profitable for you. Those gangsters were the worst kind of parasites..." Pa'tque replies once he's regained his thought process, trailing off momentarily as he looks at you hopefully, "I don't suppose that you happened to find that shipment we talked about?"

"I did." You reply with a nod, bringing a bright smile to the alien's face, "I made sure that it was marked as yours, just in case the Peace Keepers decided to seize it. I figure that it should be a lot easier to get it back with that kind of proof."

The armorer lets out a happy laugh, walking out from behind his counter to pull you into a friendly hug with all four arms, "Thank you, Jack Yarick, I cannot tell you how much I appreciate your help with this." He grins before pulling away and patting you roughly on the back, "Any time you need work done on any of your armor or weapons you come to me. I'll do it for half of whatever anybody else tells you they can do it for!"

You offer him a grateful smile, "I appreciate it, Pa'tque." You reply, before turning to look in the direction of your friends, "I was actually hoping that I might be able to get a small discount extended to my friends as well...just for today? We're all getting ready to head out on an expedition funded by Antusyac Arms and they were hoping they might be able to get some good armor without breaking what little bit of a bank we have."

The alien blinks in surprise at the request, before cocking his head and giving you something akin to a shrug, "Because they are your friends? I will give them a permanent discount as well. Your people have suffered enough being stranded out here, it is only right that you are rewarded when you prove to be so helpful without demanding much in return." He reasons, before motioning with all of his arms to your friends and the store, "Please, friends of Jack Yarick, browse my wares. You will find very little that you cannot afford within my shop today."

You, along with the rest of your group stare at Pa'tque in disbelief for a few moments before nodding numbly at his generosity, "Thank you, Pa'tque. I really can't tell you how much I appreciate your help."

"And the same to you, friend." He replies while stepping back behind his counter and turning his attention back to business. "Now, what can I do to help you today, my friend?"

Finally you turn your own attention back to your suit and the crate next to it, your friends' eyes turning curiously to watch as you open it up to reveal the jetpack, "I was hoping to get this installed on my armor today, actually." You tell him, ignoring the simultaneously amazed and jealously disappointed groans of Julius and Angelicia as they realize what you have.

"Of course, I can do this for you. It will take a few hours to make sure that I do not damage it or your armor, but it is a fairly simple process." He replies with a nod and a look of approval on his face. "I am impressed at this find, Jack Yarick...I have never seen a model quite as advanced as this one before."

Well, that's good to know...hopefully that means that it's good and that it won't blow up on you the first time you try to use it. Obviously you've already got a very hefty discount on just about everything that you purchase in the store, including the services, but if you wanted you might be able to see if you could get this done a little bit cheaper, though with all of the generosity that the shop owner has already shown you and your friends, you're somewhat hesitant to take advantage of it. Alternatively, rather than haggling with him, you could ask about getting a sponsorship to buy the complex you cleared out yesterday, if you wanted to.

>>
As Pa'tque continues to look over your jetpack, making sure that all of the proper pieces for its attachment to your suit are there, you feel the nagging question of a sponsorship pulling at your thoughts. Finally, as he nods and pats the flying device you let out a sigh, "Hey, Pa'tque, I was wondering if you might be able to do me a favor?"

The Avnari blinks up at you in a small amount of confusion, one of his ridges raised curiously, "You're welcome to ask, my friend. If it is within my ability to provide it then I will certainly be happy to do so."

You offer him a smile at the response before continuing, "Well it's actually about the Black Suns complex that we cleared out yesterday. We got to talk to the detective in charge of the case, and she said that chances are it's going to end up sitting there and rotting away since not many people are going to be willing to buy something in that sort of neighborhood."

Pa'tque nods in understanding as he hefts the jetpack out of its crate and carries it over towards his workbench, "This is true, it is not a very reputable part of town. A lot of crime spreads from that neighborhood, plenty of drugs and guns too."

"But aside from that, the building was pretty nice. I mean...yeah, it needs some fixing up now, but I feel like it would be a waste if it were to just sit there. I was thinking about maybe seeing if I could buy the building, but-"

"But you cannot buy it unless you have a sponsor." He finishes, momentarily glancing up at you from his work to see you nod, before letting out a sigh, "I will not lie to you, Jack Yarick, this is not a small thing you are asking of me. Sponsoring an off-worlder is expensive, and the legal ramifications if the sponsored individual uses the property to commit crimes are very heavy on both parties."

A disappointed look washes over your face, though you nod in acceptance, "I understand, Pa'tque, forget that I asked." You tell him, only for the alien to shake his head.

"I did not say that will not do it, my friend. Simply that it is not a simple thing. I am willing to do this for you, but I will need something from you as well. Paying a percentage of the sponsorship cost would be helpful...or perhaps hiring on under me as a contractor if I were to need any services done?" He suggests, though he doesn't look up from his work this time.

Despite the small amount of reassurance you feel at his willingness to deal with you, you're not entirely sure that terms like that would work very well for you. While you wouldn't necessarily be opposed to paying a portion of the sponsorship costs, in fact you figured that would probably be an essential part of the deal, but signing on the same contract that you would work for him in return for this seems...unwise to you, even as much as you like him.

You may have a better idea for him though, if you're willing allow him to receive a portion of any profits you end up making through the building...assuming you make any at all, or maybe you could offer him a portion of the building itself to do his own business out of? Surely expanding into another section of the city would be beneficial to him, right? Of course if you'd rather just avoid making the deal all together, you're sure he'd understand.

What do you say?
>Accept his offer to work for him.
>Tell him that this would be an investment for him. [Roll 3d10]

Have Tom come in for negotiation and use the argument that we'll send any humans we meet to his store. We might not even make a profit off of the building, so it's not a good deal for him to make that gamble unless he knows that he'll get something out of it. Something like a solid flow of customers. Besides, if we have extra space in the building maybe he can open up a small shop there or something too.

ok then what are Abi and Reece good at like are Angle is obviously our mechanic what are they is Abi or Reece another psionic.
>>
>>39944721
Well Reece is a decent soldier and excels in close combat, obviously, and assuming that he got a good set of armor he would be a pretty big asset on the battlefield. As for Abi, she's just kind of...Abi. She was trying to become an actress before she was abducted, and beyond that she's got a limited experience with firearms that mostly ends at pistols. As for the question about Psionics, it's entirely possible that one or more of your companions could have untapped Psionics potential, you'd just have to figure out how to bring it out. Considering that you know very little about your own talents right now, that may be difficult.
>>
Okay then how do we make our Psionics better? Do we have to train with Angel or can we do it on our own?

Well you don't have to train with her, you can learn on your own, but it would be significantly more efficient to have someone who knows what they're doing help you.

Most of the time will be skipped, but I'll throw in a day or two for training, reading, completing projects, and talking to people. A low sigh escapes you as you try to come up with a better offer for Pa'tque without unnecessarily tying yourself to Velik Leis for an undetermined amount of time. You start to shake your head, about to tell your alien friend that you appreciate his offer but will have to decline, when you feel a strong hand clap your shoulder while Tom's familiar voice rings out next to you. "Excuse me, Sir, sorry to interrupt but I'm if you don't mind, I overheard the two of you talking and thought that maybe I can help you out." The older man says with a confident grin at the shop owner.

Pa'tque flexes a ridge on his forehead in equal amounts of surprise and confusion, "I do not mind, though I am not sure what you might be able to add to the conversation."

Tom glances at you quickly, waiting as for you to cautiously nod in approval before he carries on, "Well my name is Thomas. I was something of a businessman myself, back on Earth, and I thought that maybe I could help the two of you sort this deal out. Now I don't know what all is in this building that Jack's wanting to buy, and I don't know what it takes to get a sponsorship to go through, but seems to me like this would be a fairly simple arrangement to make." He starts, lifting his hand off of you in order to lean forward on the counter, "First of all, it would only be fair for you to make some portion of any profits that this venture might make, say...ten percent?"

The shop owner finally pauses entirely in his work with your jetpack as he turns to face the both of you completely, "While I appreciate that offer...Thomas," Pa'tque says the name slowly, as if testing it out, "I am afraid that ten percent of all profits would be reasonable if I could be assured that there would be profits made, but unfortunately there is no guarantee of this. I need more of a guarantee in order to make a deal such as this."

>>39949993
Both you and Tom nod in understanding, "Well, what if I did some free advertisement for you? I could send any Humans I meet your way if they're looking for any armor. I'm sure that would help business a bit...you could be the first armorer on the planet to start making products specifically for our species." You offer, drawing a contemplative gaze from the your friend while the older man nods in agreement.

"Of course, I'm sure that we would all be happy to spread the word that you sell the best armor on Velik Leis." Tom reiterates with a bright smile before continuing, "Additionally, I'm sure that we could make arrangements to have a branch of your business open up in the building that Jack's trying to buy, assuming that there's room and you want to pursue that option. Think about it, a cut of the profits, free advertisement, and a ready-made storefront free of any additional charge? You can't say that isn't a good deal, Sir."

"This...is a tempting offer." The Avnari replies slowly, folding his upper set of arms across his chest while he leans against the counter with his lower set, "Though I would still require you to pay part of the sponsorship costs...and you would still have to buy the building on your own, of course."

"Of course, no question about that." Tom replies simply as you nod in agreement.

Pa'tque looks down at the counter in contemplation, staring at it for several more moments before nodding as he returns your gaze, "Very well, Jack Yarick. If this is the deal that you want then I accept it. This could be the start of a great partnership, yes?"
[Options in next post]
>>
>>39949999
Well, it looks like Tom's managed to help you iron out your deal, though whether or not you want it is still up for debate. While you expect that there could be a lot to gain from buying the complex, not having to pay an exorbitant amount for a room for example, there are also still plenty of risks in buying the building as well. After all, you're sure that something like this isn't cheap, though hopefully the neighborhood will run the prices down somewhat...either way it would still be a very big investment on your part.

Do you want to accept the deal?
>Yes. It's expensive, and there are some risks, but you're sure that the rewards will outweigh them.
>No. While you appreciate both Tom's help and Pa'tque's willingness to deal with you, it'd be better to just pass on this one.
>Ask if you can think about it. You need time to think it over, and it's not like you're going to sign any contracts until after you get back from the expedition anyways.

You offer the shop owner a smile as you accept his handshake, "Maybe so, Pa'tque. I appreciate the trust you're putting in me." You tell him, before continuing, "We are leaving on the expedition tomorrow, and I don't know exactly how long we'll be gone, but once we get back I'd definitely be glad to sign anything if I need to."

"Very well, I had expected as much, my friend. It is better this way, I will have time to talk to my advisers and have them write up the paperwork for the sponsorship while you are away." He replies with a bright smile, "This is good, I see bright things coming from this deal."

As Pa'tque turns back to his work on your suit while you thank Tom before he heads back to browse the store a bit more, you turn your attention back towards the rest of your group. It looks like most of your friends are finishing up with their shopping in the armorer's shop, practically all of them except for Freida making their way towards the front of the store with various items and the tags of the armor that they're wanting to buy. You figure that they'll probably end up having the larger items shipped to their rooms so that they can continue shopping, though with that in mind you consider whether or not you're done here. After all, you've spent pretty much all of your time in the store up until now talking to the owner rather than browsing it.Then again, is there really all that much in here that you need to buy aside from various different armors?

You do make a quick sweep through the store, just in case, and find what looks to be a portable shield generator, advertised to create a small dome around yourself and anybody else within its' radius for a period of up to half an hour before its' battery life runs out, though you doubt that it would last that long in a firefight. It does seem like it might be a useful bit of tech to have, but then again you already have your own shield, don't you? Besides, you only have so much money, and it looks like this piece of equipment is almost a thousand credits on its' own.

Aside from the thoughts of whether or not you should buy the shield generator, you also start to think about where you should head next. You remember thinking that you were running low on rounds for your pistol, as well as wondering whether or not you should look into buying another weapon, so maybe Antusyac Arms would be a good idea. Alternatively you could see about checking out some of the stalls to see if they have anything worth buying, though you're not sure how productive that would be. You suppose that you could also return to the bookstore as well, after all even if you haven't finished the books you've already got doesn't mean that you can't invest in more.

What do you want to do?

After thinking about it for a few moments, and considering the possible applications it might have for you as a medic, you decide to grab the generator and head up to the front of the store with the rest of your group. You get there just in time to see Abi check out with a tag for a set of armor and what looks like a metalic cloak patterned with hive-like patterns. As she delicately sets he purchases in a bag you go ahead and set the cylindrical device on the counter and produce the credit chit that Tobias gave you from your pocket.

"Ah, that is a good purchase!" Pa'tque tells you with a wide grin as he rings it up, "I'm sure you will find it most useful. That will be six hundred credits for the generator and two hundred for the work on your armor, my friend." You momentarily blink in surprise before remembering his promise of the discount with a smile before handing over your chit. "Very well then. Here is your chit back, and as for your armor I should be done in approximately one hour. You are welcome to pick it up whenever you wish to do so."

"Thanks, Pa'tque." You reply, receiving his typical smile before you follow the rest of your group out of his shop.

"Well, zat was certainly very...interesting." Abi comments as you join them, "I zink zat I will come back once we return from our trip."

Angel nods in agreement, directing her perpetually amused smile at you as you start to step out in front of them and lead them back down the alley, "I'll admit, I didn't expect to find any armor that I could use for such a large discount. Whatever was in that shipment you found must have been pretty important to your friend."

You shrug in response, waving off her question, "Honestly it was just a bunch of armor components, at least as far as I could tell." You reply, before slowing to a stop as you reach the market's stalls again. "Anyways, I figure that I'm going to check out the stalls around here, see if I can find anything interesting. Any of you want to tag along?"

"I still need to head to the weapons dealer." Angelicia answers, receiving nods from the majority of your friends, though Reece shrugs at the invitation.

"Might as well, I guess. I mean, I need to see about getting a new weapon aside from my sword, but I figure it can wait." He says as everybody else starts to filter away from you towards Antusyac Arms. "I'm sure we'll end up meeting up again here soon."

You nod at his assertion before turning and making your way into the stalls, noting just how crowded it is in this section of the market compared to the rest of the area. "Here's to hoping nobody here has sticky fingers." You mutter under your breath as you start to peruse the different shops' wares. For the most part all you see is a bunch of trinkets, junk, and miscellaneous items that you simply don't have any use for, though a few interesting, if still useless, items do catch your eye from time to time.

You do note a vendor that sells a variety of different sized chests, from the size of a jewelry box up to a crate that's practically half your size, as well as stall advertising floating orbs much like the one that Angelicia owns, what looks like the hilt of a sword without the blade though you do notice a trigger on the underside of it, and then a stall filled with various 'remedies' advertised to improve anything from your physical strength, virility, or even Psionics, though you suspect from the twitchy manner of the vendor that they likely have some less than desirable side effects.

Do you see anything that you want to look closer at?

Despite your interest in the gadgets, you decide instead to turn your attention towards the crates, your eyes traveling over the different sizes and shapes on display while you try and ignore the suspicious way that the vendor eyes you. Julius joins you in looking at the chests for a few moments before tapping your shoulder, "I'm going to go ahead and check out a couple of other stalls further down. See if I can find any supplies that we might need for the trip."

You nod at him in understanding as he walks off before turning back to the stall, only to find the vendor staring you in the face, "Isss there ssomething I can help you with, off worlder?" The alien asks you, the hissing tone of her voice only seeming to add to the image of mistrust she puts forward.

A somewhat awkward moment passes as you try to figure out exactly what it was that you might have done to offend the shop owner before deciding to just push forward as if nothing was wrong, "Well, I was wondering how much one of these crates would be." You say, motioning to the footlocker-sized one stacked on against the side of her stall.

"One hundred-fifty credits each for the sstandard model, or two hundred-sseventy-five for the sssecuritron model." The alien answers, her gaze leaving you for just a second as she glances at a similar sized chest to the one that you indicated, though the second looks to be reinforced and secured with two heavy-looking latches that you would presumably open with the holoscreen on the lid.

Both crates look fairly sturdy, though obviously the second is meant to hold up to more and is probably more difficult to break into, though obviously you're also paying a decent amount of money for little more than a secure box to put stuff in. You wonder for a moment if maybe you should just forget about the crates for now in favor of moving on, though you suppose that you could go ahead and try to haggle with the stall owner if you wanted to.

You cross your arms over your chest and lean back as you look at her incredulously, "You can't possibly be serious." You tell her, shaking your head as you do, "I mean come on, almost three hundred credits for a fancy box?"

The alien narrows her eyes at you, leaning forward as if to try and intimidate you by the fact that she towers over you, "The pricess are fair. The cratess are-"

"Crates. That's what they are, crates." You interrupt her, "I could find any number of people selling them for half the price you are. In fact, maybe that's just what I should do, I'll make sure to tell my friends to go wherever I find them too."

"Very well...two hundred-fifty creditss for the ssecuritron." She concedes with a glare.

"One-fifty." You retort, biting back an amused grin as you see the stall owner's eyes balloon up in outrage.

"Absssolutely not! Do you have any idea how much thessse cratess cosst to make, little alien?" She hisses angrily, though all of her fury dries up within a moment as you turn on your heel.

"Well if that's the way you're going to be then I guess that I should just head on over to Pa'tque's. His prices are actually reasonable." You answer, doing your best to make sure that you're heard over the crowd, only for a spindly hand to land on your shoulder and pull you back to the stand.

The alien's beady eyes practically burn into you, and you wonder for a moment if you pushed her too far until finally she speaks again, "Fine! Two hundred creditss, thiss is my final offer. I cannot sell it for any less than that."

Well you didn't expect to get her down quite that far...maybe she's more desperate for sales than you'd previously thought. Two-hundred credits is still a decent amount of money, but for such a secure container, it's probably well worth it. If you want to buy it then you could go ahead and do so now, or you could promise to come back and buy it later on in the day after you're finished with the rest of your shopping, either would work though you imagine that trying to lug around a chest for the rest of your shopping trip would be a bit of a pain.

>Go ahead and buy it now, you're sure you could get Julius to help you with it.

You think it over for a few moments before nodding, "Alright, two-hundred credits then." You reply before glancing somewhat wearily at the crate, "I don't suppose you have a delivery service or something do you?"

The stall owner shakes her head, her eyes still narrowed at you as she punches in the product code for the crate into her system, "No, I do not make enough business to afford the charges for it." She answers as you once again retrieve the credit chit Tobias gave you and start to hand it over to her, only to hesitate at her answer.

"In that case I'll be back for it later." You say, starting to turn around again only for her to stop you again.

"Wait! I also sell gravity sleds for a fraction of the price that many of the vendors around here do. If you would like to purchase one now then I can have it ready for you to pick up by the time you come back." She offers, her angry gaze quickly transforming into a hopeful, teeth-filled, smile, "It is only an additional hundred credits for the sled, and it is useful for many more things than just moving crates around."

You raise an eyebrow at both her offer and the sudden change in her demeanor. Well, you suppose that something like that could be useful...in fact you imagine that it'd be really nice to have around sometimes. But on the other hand you have to wonder if you really need it or if it's just another waste of money.

Do you want to buy the gravity sled?

>>

Of Course!

Everyone knows aliens love eyebrows, them fuzzy wuzzy things that are nice to touch.
>>
You shrug, doing your best to ignore the disconcerting image of her teeth filled smile as you hand over your credits. "Well, I guess that it would be useful...might as well. What kind of specs does it have? You know, battery life, how much it can life, that kind of stuff." You ask curiously.

The vendor smiles triumphantly as she finishes ringing up your purchase, "The battery is meant to lasst two dayss, Galactic Sstandard Time, it takes about five hourss to fully charge, and it can ssafely hold up to three deeliess of weight before damage occurss to the gravity sservoss." She explains, clearly missing the blank stare that dominates your face at her mention of the weight capacity as she hands you the chit back, three hundred credits lesser. "Very well, I will have the ssled and your crate ready for you when you return. I'll put the charging sstation in the crate for you."

Despite your remaining confusion as to what a deelie is you nod to her gratefully before leaving the alien woman and her stall behind as you push through the crowd to try and find Julius. Thankfully he didn't make it too far away from you, and you offer him a smile as you step up next to him, "So what did you end up finding?" You ask curiously, turning your gaze to the stall that the swordsman is perusing.

Reece glances up at you with a shrug, "Hey, man, decide you didn't want the chest after all?" He asks curiously.

"No, I bought it, I'm just going to pick it up later."

He nods in understanding before motioning to the stall in front of him, "Oh, alright. Well all they've got here are tents, rations, things like that. You know, survival stuff." He explains, before turning half-way around and pointing across the way towards another shop, "I also saw some guy over there selling a bunch of medical supplies. I don't know if it's anything that you can use, but I figured that you'd be able to tell that better than me."

Hawktail, how well can the inter species medkit heal humans?

Also, at 75%, how much of the supplies would it take to nurse a human back from critical? Trying to get a rough gauge of how much more supplies should we consider getting.
>>
>>39951713
You glance over to the stall that he indicated with interest before turning your attention back to your friend. "Alright, I'll have to go look at that before we leave." You reply, before stepping forward and looking more closely at the the survival supplies, "What about here though, you find anything interesting?"

"Kind of..." The swordsman answers noncommittally while nodding towards what looks like a large two person tent with solar panels on the top of it. "I was thinking about getting one of those, but I wasn't sure whether or not we would need it since there wasn't a packing list put out. I'd hate to waste the money if it turns out that we'll be sleeping indoors or in a vehicle or something, but on the other hand I'd much rather have it and not need it than the other way around." He explains, drawing a nod of understanding from you before continuing, "And then there were those...things."

You stare at him skeptically at the way he describes the small orbs that he points to, "I guess that they're supposed to keep animals away from the camp or something. The guy that owns the shop said that they put out a sound that hurts their ears so they'll stay away, but he also said that it might actually antagonize any of the bigger animals out there that hear it into attacking."

"Seems kind of counterproductive." You say, receiving a nod from him in response.

Still, if they kept the smaller animals away it may be worth the risk of using them, after all how many 'big' animals could he be talking about? As for the tent, you figure that Julius makes a valid point on it. Of course if you'd rather just not bother with getting either of them you could look around for something more specific or just go ahead and check out the medical supplies.

Well it largely depends on your roll and how much of the kit you decide to use in the vote. If you have a really good roll then a med kit at 75% should probably be sufficient to stabilize somebody who's in critical condition, though they're still probably not going to be doing anything for a while. It also greatly depends on what it is that's missing from your kit. If you don't have any tourniquets and somebody's bleeding out then you'd better hope that you can either work a miracle, find some quick-clot powder, or make a tourniquet from things in your surroundings. The same goes for a flutter valve or a pneumothorax decompression needle, they're important for certain procedures, though you can probably jerry-rig something that works if you have a good enough roll and the rest of your kit is acceptable.

You stand in front of the stall thinking about whether or not you really need to get the sonic emitters for a several seconds before finally shrugging and nodding to the vendor, "Better to have them and not need them right?" You ask rhetorically, leading Julius to shrug noncommittally as he steps forward to buy the same model of tent as you.

"Well, if you say so. Personally I think that I'll just stick to dealing with whatever's out there. The animals can't be that bad can they?" He asks, making you shake your head with a drawn out sigh.

"Well if they weren't before then they will be now." You shoot back, a smirk tugging at the edge of your lips.

Reece lets out a short laugh, momentarily frightening the vendor as you pay for your new gear, "I thought that Angelicia and I were supposed to be the superstitious ones, man."

"I'm not superstitious." You retort, rolling your eyes playfully, "I just recognize when other people are setting me up for failure. Besides, you shouldn't shouldn't question the logic of the only guy on your team qualified to dig a bullet out of you."

Your friend eyes you warily at that while you lead him over towards the stand set up with medical supplies, though as you glance over the different kits and supplies the smile returns to his face, "I don't think you're doing yourself any favors in the argument on whether or not you're crazy when you say things like that, Jack."

You shrug in response, "Maybe not, but are you really going to argue with the results I get?" You ask, amusement shining in your eyes while you peruse the alien's wares.

You're actually fairly impressed with the supplies and equipment on display here. You notice that he has the same kind of burn cream and bandages that you used from your kit yesterday and that, in fact, he even has the same kit that you have.

You also take note of the larger pack sitting off to the side of the stall marked as a full trauma kit, including a lot of similar utensils that you might use if you were performing surgery in the ER, though obviously there's a limit to what you can carry with you. You spend a couple of minutes gathering up the supplies that you would need to replenish your medkit before grabbing two extra ones and stacking them up in front of you, along with the trauma kit. The shop owner watches you the entire time a pleasant expression on his face while he puffs on a strange pipe and blows out red, sweet smelling smoke. Finally, after you make sure you have everything you need and with Julius watching you in a somewhat bored fashion, the alien leans forward with a soft smile while a light bioluminescent glow fades onto his forehead, "Will that be all for you, Ma'am?" He asks in a serene voice.

Your face falls into a vaguely annoyed expression as you hear Reece chuckle behind you, though you do your best to remain polite as you nod, "Actually, I'm male, but yes this is all I want to buy."

The shop owner blinks somewhat belatedly at you before taking another long pull from his pipe, "I apologize then, Sir. But, if that's all for you then that will be five-hundred-eighty credits."

"Actually, I was hoping that I could tal-" You start as you hand him your credit chit, only to be interrupted by his serene voice.

"Well, you se-"

"Five-hundred-"

"But-"

The alien simply shakes his head, apparently not bothered in the least by repeating himself so often as he continues smiling at you and speaking in his serene tone, "Five-hundred-eighty credits, Sir."

Obviously you're not going to be able to convince him to lower the price on the trauma kit, something that grinds on you a little bit as you hear your Julius openly laughing at you now, drawing a several curious gazes from across the market. Still, even if you're not necessarily happy with it, you're left with the decision of whether you want to buy the trauma kit.

You grudgingly hand him your credit chit in order to let him finish up the transaction while you drop both of the medkits into the bag you got from Pa'tque and sling the trauma kit onto your back, almost stumbling for a second at the sudden additon of weight before you manage to regain your balance just in time to take your chit back from the shop owner, in addition to a small holotoken advertising 'Namier's Emergency Medical Care' along with with what you can only assume is Namier's commlink code.

You blink up at the alien in confusion while you put both your chit and the token away, "For your friends." Namier says with a sage nod and a smile, answering your unspoken question.

"Thanks....Namier." You reply unsurely before turning and walking away from his stand along with Julius who quickly follows behind you with an amused smile while you simply offer him a less than impressed stare.

"Alright, so where do you want to go now, Doc? I'm pretty much done with everything here, I still need to go to the weapons shop, but other than that I'm probably going to head back to the hotel here soon."

You stop to think about the question for a moment. Obviously you're still running pretty low on ammo for your pistol, and it probably wouldn't hurt to get more fuel for your flamethrower either...not to mention the fact that you still only have a your pistol and a shotgun. It may be a good idea to consider buying a weapon that you could use at longer ranges, though on the other hand you have been doing fairly well so far. Additionally, while you don't have a solid reason for going to the book store, it still probably wouldn't hurt to do so, would it?

Where do you want to go?
>Head to Antusyac Arms. You need to get ammo, and maybe the rest of your group is still there.
>Head to the bookstore. Maybe you'll find something interesting there.

Did we ever look for the AK-47 equivalent weapon here?
A tough, rugged, easy to maintain, easy to learn, easy to use, moderately accurate, cheap weapon?
>>
As far as you're concerned, the bookstore can wait. You're here on business right now, so it's probably for the best if you go ahead and hit Antusyac Arms. "Alright, let's see if the rest of the group's still at the the gun store." You tell your friend before starting to make your way back to the main road of the market.

Reece nods in agreement with you, following close behind as you break out from the rows of stalls and move in the the opposite direction of Pa'tque's shop. A short silence falls between the two of you as you travel until you finally reach the store, just in time to see Angel making her way out of the store with Abi and Freida, "Oh good! I was hoping I'd see you two here, I just got a call from some lady saying that she's in charge of the expedition. Apparently there's a briefing for us in the hotel's conference room in two hours." The mechanic says, a sour look crossing her face as she lets out a sigh, "Of course it would have been nice to know about that [i]yesterday[/i], but at least they let us know about it at all."

You feel a low groan threaten to escape you at the thought of having to sit through another meeting with one of Tanis' representatives, the grating pace of the last one having left a sour taste in your mouth, though both you and Reece nod in understanding. "Good to know, I'd hate to be that guy that didn't show up for it." Julius replies with a wry smile, "We'll be there though."

"I guess, if we have to." You mutter, getting a laugh from the rest of the group.

"Well, if you would razzer run off and hide in a closet wiz me for a couple 'ours I would cover for you..." Abi tells you teasingly, leading Angelicia to roll her eyes in amusement as the French girl gives both of you exaggeratedly sensual looks.

You grin at her before shaking your head slowly, "Sorry, Abi, as tempting as that offer is, I'd rather not hide in the closet." Both Abi and the mechanic quirk an interested eyebrow at your response, though they don't bother to comment on it, while the other two in the group seem to ignore it. "Alright, well, like Julius said, we'll see you guys there. I still need to get in here and then run back to grab the rest of my stuff after I'm done." You tell them while starting to move towards the door again.

Your punk friend shakes her head at you disbelievingly at the sudden realization of mow much gear you've already got on you, and the revelation that you actually have more, "Jesus, Doc, how much crap are you going to get?."

"You don't even know the half of it." Reece says with a laugh, "I wouldn't be surprised if we have to take two taxis to get home."

Abi stares at you in surprise before letting out a small laugh, "And zey say zat I 'ave too much stuff! 'Ow are you even still walking, Jack?"

"My theory is theory is tha-" You start to say, only to be cut off by both Angel and Freida.

"You're wrong, Doc."

"Whatever you are going to say, it's probably not true."

A somewhat nonplussed look dominates your face while the three girls look at you smugly and, as you turn to look at Julius you can see that he has absolutely no intention of backing you up. "You got yourself into this one, man, I'm not getting involved."

You roll your eyes at him, "Gee, thanks the help, buddy." You reply in a deadpan tone, even as you smile tugs on your lips, before turning back to the girls again, "Well, either way I need to get going if you want me to be in the meeting on time. I'll see you guys later...for real this time."

Angel nods in understanding before starting to move towards the taxi terminal herself, "Fair enough, we'll see you guys later. Try and get there on time if you can, Doc."

As soon as they turn to walk away you step forward through the sliding door and into Antusyac Arms. The moment you walk in, you're struck by the impressive display of rifles, pistols, and shotguns, though you note that the display hardly shows a full representation of their stock, if the signs directing to varying types of weapons are of any indication at least.

You're certain that you could stay in here looking at weapons for hours and still have something else to find but you quickly remind yourself that you have less than two hours until that briefing now. With that in mind, you should probably concentrate on a few things. Obviously getting more rounds for your pistol is of a high priority, though if you wanted to you're sure that you could look at buying some weapons as well. An assault or sniper rifle may be a good investment, though a melee weapon or an smg might be just as useful.

What do you want to do?

Ammo for stuff we have first. Then we can consider if we have the time/money for another gun.
>>
I hate to do this, guys, but I've been writing since five this morning, so I'm going to take a break for about an hour and then get back to writing. I do have to take care of some stuff later tonight, so I may not get as far into the ruins as I'd initially hoped but we will at the very least have you inbound to the ruins by the the end of this session, but I'll try to at least let you guys get camp set up if at all possible.

I'd really like to get further into them, but I'm afraid that if I start writing in on that then I might end up having to leave part way through, and it's not something that I like doing.

Then some shells

Some do, a lot of them don't. The collapsible ones are more expensive than the ones that don't. Your shotgun collapses, but your pistol doesn't.

So what all do you think we're gonna find in those ruins? What if we end up accidentally unleashing Cthulu or something? What if Cthulu was the one that killed this planet?
>>
>>39954780
probably a super old yet super advanced ship that we have to figure out a way to keep.

well since we got a great deal when we were working out the contract i dont think it will be that hard but difficult non-the-less.
>>
>>39954847
If that happens do you think that we should still buy the building? I mean, what do we need it for if we have a ship?

Personally I think that we're going to end up finding a bunch of things that power up psionics and stuff, maybe some old armor that we can wear, assuming that it fits us.

There's got to be a specific reason that we're being hired to go in and look though, maybe some kind of super weapon that the ceo guy wants to patent?
>>
>>39954920
>If that happens do you think that we should still buy the building? I mean, what do we need it for if we have a ship?

Yes and here's why
who said the ship would let us live in space we would need food and water, supplies the building we are going to buy would allow us to order all that and then some and give a place for other company's and groups to offer contracts and deals.
>>
>>39955009
Fair enough, I feel like that's a pretty solid reasoning, I mean personally even though I kind of like Velik Leis I still wish that we had gone to one of the other planets. The cyberpunk one seemed pretty cool, and definitely the one with the space station orbiting it. It would have been a completely fresh planet for exploration.
>>
>>39955219
i feel like the cyberpunk one while cool as fuck would have been very crime orientated like as in make cash above all else; the one with the space station im not sure but it is interesting but its not like we wont visit those planets later.

but here we are about to start a business after going through the ruins of a precursor species.

Despite the temptation you feel to browse the weapons in the store with Julius, you force yourself to head to the aisle section of the store apparently dedicated to boxes of various pistol rounds while you note that the shotgun shells and slugs are just two aisles over. It takes you a few minutes to find the right round that you need for your pistol, and you walk over to check the shotgun aisle you manage to find the slugs you need for it significantly quicker.

It looks like they sell both rounds in boxes of fifty, one-hundred, and two-hundred, though two-hundred round boxes of the slugs look like they'd be a hell of a thing to have to carry, and to be honest you sincerely doubt that you would ever need that many rounds at one time unless you were trying to fight a war on your own.

What do you want to buy?
>A box of 50 pistol rounds for 20 credits. How many?
>A box of 100 pistol rounds for 40 credits. How many?

After a little bit of consideration you decide that, considering how many shells you already have for your shotgun, all you should need for now is one box of ammo for each. Now that you've taken care of the immediate problem of how many rounds you have, you consider whether or not you want to just go ahead and check out now or browse the store a little more.

It probably wouldn't hurt at all to get a rifle of some sort, or maybe an smg, but you also question whether or not you really even need it in the first place, considering how well you've been doing up until now. Regardless, if you want to browse the weapons you should probably only look at one of the options for now, unless you don't mind being late to the briefing.

What do you want to do?
>Just go ahead and check out with your ammo.
>Look through the assault rifles, maybe you'll find something you like?
>Check out the sniper rifles. Nobody else on your team has one, as far as you know, and it certainly wouldn't hurt to have one.

i have to point some thing out Jack has a shotgun, a pistol, a leaser whip, 3 plasma grenades, and psionics and now we're going to buy an assault rifle so this leads to my question.

is there something you guys want to kill.
>>
Well, if you had to choose just one weapon to look at in the store, you figure that an assault rifle is probably the most versatile one you're going to find. With that decision made you make your way over to the display at the front of the store. Despite being what initially looked like an impressive collection of weapons, you find that most of the rifles put up for sale here are fairly low quality knock off brands, or at least they certainly look like it at any rate.

While it's obvious that a cheaper rifle will still do its job, you feel like it might be a better idea to check out the better brands as well, despite the obvious expense that the name would add to the weapon. It takes you a lot longer than you'd like to find something that catches your eye, an assault rifle made by Antusyac Arms called the HK-49. As you tap on the holocatalogue to check out its' specs you see that while it has many of the same features as the standard rifles, such as holosights and adaptable ammo systems, it also includes the same biometrics locking system and collapsible carrying position as your shotgun, in addition to a higher stopping power.

Ultimately the question comes down to how much you want to spend on a weapon and what you want to get out of it. If you'd rather get a rifle that, while cheap, is dependable enough to at least do its job then the standard stock should be fine, though if you'd rather get something with a little more power behind it, as well as being slightly more convenient, you might want to get the more expensive brand.

What do you want to do?
>Buy one of the N-53s. It'll work fine for you, and it's not like you need the other features anyways.
>Go ahead and and spring for the HK-49. It's got more features and a better stopping power.
>On second thought, you really don't need either of these right now, maybe you should hold off until after you get back from the expedition.
>Write-in.

Does the HK-49 show that it can be upgraded with parts later on, making it take different roles like squad support or designated marksman?
Can we do a quick exonet search for "HK-49 vs N-53, ruggedness, reliability"?

Call over a sales rep, tell them we need a weapon that's rugged and easy to maintain because we're going out into the wild for a while with little to no logistical support.

I don't see why not, though to be honest I'm kind of running on steam here as far as the whole shopping stuff goes. I'm hoping that once that we move on I can get a second wind. This isn't to say that I'm not wanting to do it, it's just that I don't want to put on a shitty performance, if that makes any sense at all.

But, if that's what you guys want to do then I've got no problem with it. It's the logical solution to a problem like this.
