LAST TIME, ON SPAGHETTI SNEK QUEST:
https://archive.moe/tg/search/tripcode/%21Me.qpOlLW2/type/op/

>Doc resigned as bus driver of this fantastic adventure and handed it over to me (ScrewHues can confirm). I am not the original Dr. Unorigional, and truth be told I’ve never run a /tg/ quest before. But then again, neither had our dear Doctor prior to this, so how hard could it be?
>I assume full responsibility for any poorly-skilled QM-ing, but I’ll try to make the rest of quest with as little “magical realm” as possible, and following the plot points Doc has set out.

You are Katie Black, former socially-impaired human girl turned socially-impaired murdermachine reptilian girl in a strange world. You feel a lot better since yesterday; your head doesn’t hurt anymore. And you like your hoodie. Things are, generally speaking, going 1000x better right now than they were yesterday.

Cora and Sirena are accompanying you on a small adventure, doing something you didn’t do really that often on Earth: a shopping trip. The market looks pretty empty; today isn’t Market Day, which is on the equivalent of Wednesdays. A few lone bored-looking merchants (probably looking to deprive you of your precious shekels) are hanging around. Upon seeing you, their faces turn from melancholy to despair. They turn to huddled whispers in small circles of conversation. That doesn’t make sense, why would… Oh. Right. You make a ton of money on your slaughterventures.

As you approach closer to them, they put up feigned smiles. It’s actually pretty weird. Are they THAT afraid to lose money?
>>
One of them greets you. This guy looks around middle age, and has a thin mustache. There’s nobody that you can really think of that he looks like, other than maybe Mr. Bean with a terrible haircut and also a beard. And evil-looking. At least it’s not the same dude who sold you into wage slavery.

“Hello! Uh… Katie, was it? How can we help you?” The thought occurs to you that this is the most generic NPC ever. The signs on his stalls are written in the language you can barely understand, but the number pictogram system is luckily pretty easy. From 1-9, each number is represented by a collection of that number of dots within a circle. For example, “13” would be two dots; the first would just be 1 dot inside the circle and the other with 3. Zero has no dots. That was actually pretty surprising when Cora taught you; from what you remember from Earth history, the number zero took a long-ass time to spread to Europe. The sign closest to you indicates basic cloth (you think?) and lists 1 gold per… certain amount. God it sucks being illiterate.

“Uh… I w-wassssssssss here t-to b-b-buy ssssssssssssome ssssssss-ssssssss-stuff”

“Certainly!” Not-Bean says. Oh god, he even did the hands-rubbing-together thing. “What would you like to buy?”

>Write in to ask what stuff is worth; basically anything you say will be considered. You have about 40 gold, which is a lot.

Ask Doc your questions - ask.fm/DrUnorigional

>(this is old now obviously but feel free to ask him; I don’t really have any social media accounts)

Difficulty: This quest will have a difficulty setting that you can change at any time if you so wish, just ask, use it tactically.

>Easy mode: (Half XP) You get 5 dice rolls, best roll taken, the entire world is sunshine and rainbows. Only lasts for 5 in game story posts.

>Normal (default): (Normal XP rates and encounters.)You get 3 rolls, best dice taken.

>Challenging: (Double XP!) You only get 2 rolls, best of 2.

>Hard mode: (Triple XP and more loot.) You get 2 rolls but we use an average instead of the best one. Bad luck comes your way and shit is getting perilous, pray to the dice gods for mercy.

>Punishing: (Quadruple XP and allot of cool stuff just left lying around. )You only got one shot, make it count. 1 roll. Enemies are written as more competent/ better equipped, E.G if encountered then regular wolves will become larger dire wolves ect. You may get your shit pushed in.

>Nightmare mode: (10 times exp) Awww shit son u gon die. The worst of 3 rolls is taken, the world shifts to grimdderp and bad things happen. You can't turn it off for 10 in game posts.

Fate point: QM steals from khornette quest because he is a filthy hack, you can reroll one dice per session. Only once, and use that instead.

Dub rolls = +30

Trip rolls = +90

Some clothes we can hunt in, a dagger, a fire starting kit(flint etc.), a sack we can stuff smaller kills into, and some candy.

pls get a twitter so we can know when you're running.
>>
>Current level = 59

>Difficulty = Normal. ( I didn't forget, I'm just not resetting it )

XP: current/total = level. For example. 35 exp collected vs a 60 for evolution = level 58

Every 25 levels you get some kind of passive perk that might have an effect on your next evolution. Whatever you choose gets strengthened as and if you evolve. Experience is given via difficulty and is relative. Remember to use the difficulty setting tactically, you can't raise it until after the fight is over.

>Mundane = 1 or even 0 XP. Shit like killing insects or knitting.

>Easy: 1-3 EXP, picking a lock or successfully hunting small prey.

>Medium: 5-10 EXP hunting larger prey that can fight back but really can't win.

>Challenging: 10-25: Shit that can fight back but not exactly life threatening.

>Threatening: 25-50 Something that could very well kill you and puts up a fair fight. 1V1 me faggot.

>Deadly: 50-100+ a (much?) larger/stronger opponent that may have the odds stacked in their favour

After a lengthy discussion with a few merchants, you find out the following:

-More clothes similar to the hoodie are 10gp

-Daggers are 15 gp. Damn, who makes those so expensive? Is there an assassin's guild?

-Total fire starting kit: The merchant hadn't heard of the concept but once you took 5 whole minutes explain it to him in your awful stuttering, he decides they can scrounge up some stuff and sell it to you for 5gp.

-Sack: 6gp

-Chocolate is 40gp; it's a commodity.

-A bundle of charcoal is 5gp.

-Total budget before purchase: 40gp
-After: 19 measly gp
-YOU HAVE RECEIVED: 1 dark green hoodie with pocket, some charcoal, a firestarting kit (wait a minute... This is just some flint and steel, plus a faggot (heh) of sticks!), and a handy-dandy totebag-sack-thing. Maybe it's not the long nose and evil grin on your face, but the long nose and evil grin in your heart.

Damn, that really bit you in the ass. Sirena rolls her eyes, too. She must have known from the beginning how you were being gypped. It doesn't really help that Not-Mr.Bean looks a little bit like one of your favorite bishonen dudes, now that you realize it. You wonder if you can ask him to get one of the other merchants to engage in sweet- FUCK!
It's too bad Adderall doesn't exist, you could use it right now to distract you from the gay thoughts. Damn, you need to go take a shower (but what if Salvia catches you again?)

In the relatively quiet marketplace, you start to hear murmurs off on a side-street leading to the woods. Seems like there's some sort of commotion. The crowd isn't really big exactly, so you don't have to wade through it or anything, but you see Salvia as one of the spectators. You put Cora on your shoulders so she can see (so kawaii!), and do the snake equivalent of standing on your tippytoes.

What you see almost makes you have a heart attack.
>>
>>39839204
Same, Doc really got how to describe Katie as a socially inept hikki (who is mildly insane, completely neurotic, and couldn't into anything). We'll see what the new management can do.

Don't try to copy Doc, do what you're comfortable with.
>>
It's another snake woman, that you can be sure of. However, there's something totally off about her. Her tits are sagging a little bit (you can see that even from this distance), she has jet black scales, and she looks about the same size as Salvia- which is pretty big, but not as big as you. That's because you're an oversized freak among lamia.

And also she's naked. She's panicking and naked at the group of people staring at her. A guardsman brings her a blanket, and she takes it over herself quickly. It kinda makes you feel good to know that you weren't the only one who came out socially inept and all spaghetti due to the hatching; this lady looks like she went through the same.

It looks like a really old or middle-aged woman, who looks really ugly. The scales on her neck and the sides of her face are kinda dull looking (you can’t tell whether or not it’s because of how ugly she is or just if they’re naturally that way), and she’s covered in little marks and scars, and her face is strangely familiar. You can’t tell really because of the eyes, but it almost looks like- Oh fuck.

It’s your real mom. The crack mom. She’s a snake now too.

The person who caused you so much pain, and made your life shit (well okay, most of that was you, but she was into hardcore drugs), and probably caused your descent into NEETiness, is right there in front of you. A look of surprise flashes across her face, and it quickly turns to confusion.

"I-" you start. She turns to look at you and Cora.

…”Katie?”

>Also how the fuck could she reincarnate when she was still alive in our old world?
My guess is she died in the old world for some reason.
>>
Wait, what? Where did you come up with the idea that she did drugs? She didn't do drugs. She just hated that you're the biggest hikki girl to ever live.

Oh. Right. YOU'RE the one that did the drugs.

You feel lightheaded, but that must be your emotions or whatever, stupid, STUPID brain playing tricks on you, not being internally reliable-

"Katie? Is that you?" She says again, making her way over to you. She had mouthed a "thank you" to that guard. And with that, she is suddenly the perfect wonderful Nice Snake in Town. She's Glinda the Good Snake, and you're The Wicked Snake of Twinrock. Then again you are both green. And worthless. And unlikable.
And she doesn't have a lisp either! What the hell?

"Uh... I... H-hi..." You say with a veritable ocean of spaghetti, with meatball icebergs adrift in it. You are in the Great Spaghetti Ocean that sunk the Emotionally Stable Titanic. You are onboard the boat in this metaphor.

"Katie. I don't know what's going on. What?" Real Mom asks, looking at you and Cora.

And things were starting to go really well.

You begin crying.

THIS

I'm seriously confused. You might want to start things over, new OP.

Old Mom reincarnating I can understand. Her reincarnating as an old lady snake I don't understand.

Maybe she recognizes us, but we don't recognize her due to her newfound youth.
>>
>>39840021
Her showing up again isn't what's weirding me out, it's that she apparently reincarnated into a middle aged body that was our snake mom, or she reincarnated into the past to become our mom and never once learned anything about the setting.
>>
>>39840021
See I think you're problem is/was that you assumed it would be her Modern world mom. Which if you read the other re: quests you'd realize that isn't the case. The birth parents of the new snake/spider/lizard aren't related to them via reincarnation. Usually they have no knowledge of it and are born of this world completely. If we met our snake mom she'd be completely different than our human mom. If we met human mom she'd be young like us and likely wouldn't be related by blood in this world. Hell she might not even be the same species.
>>
>>39840049

Okay, you know what?
I have fucked up so bad, in so little an amount of time, that I am going to start this thread over again tomorrow with the continuity fixed.
I am truly sorry to have disappointed you all.
>>
Why are we all assuming dying first means reincarnating first? Her being older is only a plot hole because of this assumption.
>>

Ohshit, this guy might have put his finger on it. The plot the original Dr Unoriginal had in mind was the our biological snek mother (who's not a reincarnation of our biological old world mother) showed up and that it was HER who was a crack addict, not our real real mum.

>>39840107

>>
>>39840107
It's cool. I'm glad you're recognizing the mistake and doing this over again.

Maybe what you should REALLY read is the Re:Monster manga, which is what all of this is based on.

>>39840111
Because that's the entire point of these quests. You die, are reincarnated as a crazy monster, and you're one of the lucky few who remember their past life.

The implication is that everyone is reincarnating when we die constantly, but we normally don't remember.
>>
>>39840157
Loosely as fuck based on. Like barely.
>>
>>39840171
It's the same damn concept.
>>
>>39840127
I'm sure there's been worse. And eventually will be.

Just um...I dunno. Maybe you should have read the archives and wrote a summary of what happened in each thread for reference? That'd be a good thing.
>>
>>39840157
I'm pretty sure the original doc said he hadn't read the manga either.
>>
>>39840127
It's fine. You might want to read RE:Lizard or Re:Monster(the first few threads anyways) To see how reincarnation relates to family.

I'm pretty sure the crack addict is snake mom who is a separate entity from human mom.

And we're not mad, there are many worse fuck ups possible in a quest. You're fine.
>>
>>39840107
>>39840127
Quest handovers aren't common, some hitches are to be expected. So no worries. If anything, thanks for listening instead of just pushing forward and train wrecking off a cliff and through a warp storm into a vat of Nurgle fried chicken.

>>39840111
Because she's confused.
>"Katie. I don't know what's going on. What?
That's the main logical conflict. Either she spawned earlier and should have a better handle of the world than we do, or she should be younger than us.
>>
>>39840178
I read what was out of it a long while ago and wouldn't really see any relation to this other than monsters that level up.

All the story elements and the human town stuff seem totally different.

Honestly the other RE:Monster quest from REQM would be a better source at this point I think.
>>
This thread starts again tomorrow at 2pm EST/3pm CST.
>>
>>39839873
Human mom isn't or wasn't real snek mom, the story was that Katie overheard her mom and dad arguing over child support a lot (presumably while having snuck out of bed to sit on the stairs as a small(er?) child) which really damaged her self confidence because she thought she was to blame for the breakup.

In actual fact Katie's mom had an affair so her husband walked out, Katie is a bastard, aside from being distant Katies real human mom actually did care alot about her, despite katies insecurities.

>>39839932
Crack mom was screw hue's creation in chat, so it was going to be a thing anyway. She was meant to be subtly abusive and really inconsiderate, spending Katies revenue (I guess on drugs, never got that far) and trying to exacerbate her insecurities so she'd do as she was told. (I'm not skilled enough to write that and it would not have been fun)

Actually real snake mom was either fake snek or just a really shity mom who left her egg in the jungle to die cause reasons.

>>39840213
Right, that all makes sense again.
Also personally, I'd have rather left real mum as a non-druggy. Feels cleaner to just leave Katie despondent over not appreciating her and her old life rather than muddying things with her old mum being a terrible person after all, etc

(Although her having had an affair which led into prompting Katie's anxiety is technically making her a terrible person after all)
>>
>>39840317

Hikki snake was adorably awkward especially when she tried her hardest. Pretty much Tomoko and you know how much 4chan loved that manga. Doc was a good writer too, enough so that the overly sensitive like me could really reveal in the third-party embarrassment.

....
..........
......
anon.... she has eyes, she can see katie's colour scheme
>>
>>39840436
But how'd she look familiar enough for Katie to KNOW that she was her mom? facial features and such? Green snakes can't be that rare I imagine.
>>
>>39840436
We saw her before she saw us. And nobody in the crowd reacted as if she had suddenly changed.
>>
>>39840457
Are you sure of that? She could have been stalking her for days before putting on this act.

Anyway this is all moot
>>
>>39840451
You can tell. I met my biological father once. Just sorta ran into him. I knew it was him. He knew I was me.

>>39840436
I just can't understand if it's crack mom from this world.. or just tribal snek mom looking for her lost daughter.
>>
>>39840457
Shes been spying on us obviously. We would be kinda locally famous at this point.
>>
>>39840316
Why not both?

Crack mom was in the forest looking for some shrooms to sell or for a quick high, got chased by something, and dropped her egg.
>>
>>39840519
Probably this.

>"I heard a snake child was found abandoned in the woods"

Not exactly a common occurrence.
>>
>>39840393
>>39840451
>>39840457
Before this thread, Crack mom was just an amusing idea, about a snake who faked her way into Katie's life by pretending to be her snake mom in order to leech off of her. She was not Katie's canon human or snake mom.
>>
>>39840575
That sounds like an annoying and awful direction to take the quest, but ok.
>>
>>39840575
Again How would we KNOW? Her just being Green would not be proof, since we remember mom being in good enough shape to run and drop us simultaneously via genetic memory. Her being green isn't much proof, and how would we recognize her instantly?
>>
>>39840720
Apologies anon, I was explaining my personal head-cannon for the old quest, not this one (well they're still the same actually, just inevitably branching off). Should have really mentioned that....
>>
>>39840575
I really don't like that idea. It would make Katie (and the players) extremely distrustful and paranoid, moreso than they already are.

Real snake mom would be far better than a fake.
>>
>>39840771
It's fine. Just the contrivance would make anons suspicious immediately. If you want her to stick for a bit, need to be more subtle, and have good "proof". It being real snake mom, while sucky would be less contrived and not make us spy check every 10 seconds.

Also minor nitpick, if she's a dedicated junky she'd be skinny as fuck.
>>
>>39840892
>>39840849
You make good points, maybe it was a bad direction to go in retrospect.
>>
>>39840946
Every QM has an idea that in retrospect isn't. No biggie.
>>
>>39840946
I'm hoping for actual feral type snek mom not other world. But hey who knows.
>>
I JUST WANT MY BIO-TASER DAMMIT!
>>
Yeah, personally? If I were you I'd just scuttle the idea quick fast and in a hurry. Doesn't seem like a good direction to take the quest. Take some time, figure out some plot points that make a bit more sense, then get back to us another day.
>>
>>39842458
People seem to like the idea, but now might not be the time for it, Not-Doc. This anon's idea seems like as good as any. There are tons of different threads to follow, if you can't think of something (previous threads have the info).
>>
Dang, original QM left and now there's bumps in canon? I hope things get ironed out without much trouble.
>>
Missed the thread. Torch been passed without issue?
>>
>>39843065
>Without issue

Weeell... we'll see about that next thread.
>>
>>39843077
Overall rating?
>>
>>39840195
>Quest handovers aren't common
Indeed. I've almost never heard of them happening.

>>39840195
>If anything, thanks for listening instead of just pushing forward and train wrecking off a cliff and through a [...] etc
Going to second this.
>>
>>39843010
Not-Doc seems open about stuff, and if anything else, we've given Doc both a lulzy situation AND proof that someone is a bigger fuck-up then he is.

I think it'll be fine.
