You were born gender uninterested. Though an uncommon occurrence on your plane, it’s common enough not to elicit too much comment.
Being gender uninterested doesn’t mean you’re not interested in a gender, it means that you’re not interested in choosing a gender for your growth to follow.
Your name is:
>Ren
>Jord
>Sam
>Other (own choice)

You’re writhing on the soft wooden floor of your family room, it feels as if every single one of your nerve endings were experiencing pain that you could imagine was worse than death at the same time. You only know one thing: your mage gift is awakening, and it’s so much more painful than your parents had said it would be. Time slips by unnoticed by you. You got home at around 23:30; there had been a vague sense of discomfort when you woke up this morning, a vague discomfort that only grew into a dull ache as the morning passed into afternoon. By the time it was 20:00, it had grown again, though this time it was a piercing, burning pain; a pain that was everywhere at once. You’d been lucky you’d been released from the Academy by then, quickly you had rushed home in order to avoid a public scene.
The pain is so great that eventually it numbs you, and then you’re writhing in agony of a different kind, as every single one of your senses except for your Life Sensing gets dulled to the point of nothingness.
>>
>>39789224
Your Life Sense’s sensitivity, however, is increasing a millionfold, you feel the entirety of your home planet, Latifundior, around you and your mind cannot comprehend how very insignificant your pathetic little existence is. You’re awestruck at the disgust you feel for your people as they try, and fail quite magnificently, to live their lives in their poor, barbaric ways that are not even a shadow of the Lives of the Former, the Life Giver, and the Created.
-1.5 sanity (8.5/10 Sanity)

You’re lashing out with (pick two)
>bolts of lightning; they are singing your tree-house’s walls
>pyro-kinetic bursts; that are steadily heating the room to a barely tolerable level
>water whips; the whips are smashing your furniture and freezing your sister’s Feng shui
>plants; they are writhing, growing strong and slow, weak and fast, overgrowing around you, driving their roots into your home-tree’s soil
>scythes of wind are cutting the living wood of your home, leaving large, shallow gashes in it
>sunshine is flooding down to the deep roots of your home organism, quickly evaporating the moisture within
>the earth beneath you; it rumbles and churns as parts turn hard, parts turn soft, and even parts turn sandy simultaneously as the minerals of the deep earth thrust upward
>there is a crunching of rock to your side, a loosening of the earth as something tries to climb up; is that a skeleton?!
>>
>>39789231
>sunshine is flooding down to the deep roots of your home organism, quickly evaporating the moisture within

No one will suspect that the sunshine mage is a necromancer.

Oh yeah, and

>Sam

Nice name that fits either gender if we ever choose.

I could work it together, make it a 'clerical' kind of thing for the Children that fell.

Sounds good!

I read in the history that those who do death magic are punishable? Does that include necromancy? Because I was hoping to hide our whole undead-master thing under the guise of sunlight and happiness.

Welcome back yolan! Reading up now
>>

As far as you know it's not spoken of, not even by the edgiest. You've not really experienced too much of the persecution that they get. You'd definitely keep it under wraps though

Cheers buddy, I'm really happy that you're still a fan!

So Sam is being embraced by both light and dark. Huh interesting will definitely cause some conflicts I'm sure. Looking forward to how the quest plays out.

You feel a prodding on your mind; it's a dull, weak feeling, but it's enough to snap you back to reality.

You were right, it was a fucking skeleton.
"What the hell," you garble. Though your mind's almost clear, it looks like your body is still on its way.

You try to stand, you manage to get both feet under you and push before you stumble.

I need help, you think feebly, the world seemingly going in slow motion.
So you can see what's coming at you clearly, it's the little rotted Tengoid, it must be moving pretty swiftly, you think to yourself.

It's right next to you now, reaching its rotted hand toward you.

>What the fuck (physically attack)
>Go away! (it must be that nudge I felt earlier, push it!)
>This is disgusting! (push your disgust or its unexistence at it)
>It looked like it was looking to me for orders, maybe it's trying to help? (let it touch you)
>other (write in)

It couldn't be here to kill me if it wanted me to tell it what to do, you rationalize as you reach your hand out to it. it grabs you and with a surprising amount of strength for something that's dead, helps you get your balance back.

You're finally steady on your feet as you crouch down to its height to look it eye-to-eye.
What you see is unsettling. There's something missing in those eyes.
But it can't be? its eyes are exactly the same as anything else's, but it's just missing something.

Is it intelligence? It's not doing anything other than staring right at you, deadpan expression on its rotted face.

But as you take a close look at it for the first time, you notice it has a soft shimmer to the outline of its figure.

That's confusing, to say the least...

It's not even making a noise, not breathing, not absorbing water, there's even the tiniest spot of un-life on your Life Sense. It's so faint you wouldn't know it was there unless you were specifically looking for it, you could find it easy if you were close enough.

>What the fuck is going on.
>It's so warm in here (drink sunlight/heat, meditative sleep)
>My sister's going to be home in a little while. What the hell am I going to do if my sister gets here and there's a deadfall in our family room?! (hide it)

Marina said she'd be back at 25:00, what the fuck? You think as you notice the sun's position. "How did it get to 24:10 already?"

She's going to be here soon, you have to get rid of this mockery of life.
But if it's a mockery of life, then what are you, the one that summoned it?

This is too much to think about now, I just need to get this undead thing away.
You push it, urging it to go in the same direction it came from. Evidently it knows what you're trying to tell it, and it just slowly sinks down into the ground at its feet.

Is the grass longer than it was before?

Don't think about that, Sam. You've got to get your home to thin its walls, you can't let your sister know it was your Second Awakening. That'd lead to questions you're not sure you know how to answer.

It's always tough to understand your fathers, they think so slowly, almost prompting you to figure out the answers yourself.

You sit in your room, back against your wall; trying to get into mind-touch with your first father, coming to his consciousness.

You sense curiosity from him, fainter than the last time you came here, you don't know what to think of that.

>Just dump the info into his head and get out.
>Go through it slowly, he's your dad, show him how you've grown.
>Just dump it slowly and get out of here, no reason to rush and no point trying to communicate.

Is our father trustworthy..
like if we show him we've shown promise in death magic. Will he say anything to anyone?
If he is trustworthy
>Go through it slowly, he's your dad, show him how you've grown. And how we can control it.
If not
>Just dump the info into his head and get out.
Leave out death magic if it's treated like the plague.

You haven't spoken to him all week, no wonder he's a little frosty right now.

You send him a feeling of incoming surprise; you've always had a strong bond with your father, so you can sense what the other's trying to convey very easily.
He's waiting for you to give some big news

>I've grown a bit, I'm 57 in a couple of weeks.
>Yeah, I guess I got my Second Awakening today.

"Yeah, I guess I got my Second Awakening today," you send to him. Immediately you feel a wave of excite from him and a strong surge of pride.

"I hope that pride's for me dad," you laugh, feeling the warm glow of happiness.

If dad's still proud of me then I've got no reason to think I'm a bad person for bringing up that body, right?
By now you're certain that it's a taboo subject because it's a disgusting one.

You feel curiosity bound along your link as he wonders what you Awakened.

>Just Light, purifying and grow-ifying. Do you have any pointers for me?

Gotta risk it to get the biscuit.

You send over your vague sense of unease to him, giving him the sense that it'll be some hard to talk about news.

You send him images of what you did this afternoon, send him the memories.
At first he's disgusted, it's a physical wall that slams at you, nearly knocking you out of trance.
Then, when you send the complete confusion you felt when it happened, the unease and the questions you had about your own morality, he calmed a little, still shocked though.
When you get to the memories of your contact with the creature, he gives a mental shiver.
Finally, you move on to where you notice the faint shimmer it had around it; unexpectedly, there's another jolt of shock sent shaking across your bond with him, this one has hints of great confusion poorly hidden up though.

>What was that about? Did you see something important?
>This is bad, let's go before it gets any worse.

"What?" You send over, a word laced with confusion. "Did you see something?"

You can tell your father's weighing up whether or not to tell you something, but you're not going to let curiosity get the better of you. Information means a lot is on stake here.

Eventually he seems to have come to a conclusion, and he sends you what he's thinking: "It's as if it's a dead husk but one that's filled with life," you get, taking a bit of time to translate.

>A 'husk'? 'filled with life'? Skeptical.
>Okay, but that's not making sense.

"Yeah alright." you send through, readying yourself to depart before he can convince you to stay. "I just need some time to mull all this over, think about things.
"Bye dad," you say, extracting yourself from the comfy bond.

You sit there for a few moments, too comfortable to move before eventually coercing yourself to move.

Easing yourself our of the room is easier when you have your new magic to try out, you've been waiting for this day for a while.

Okay, so I found that little nub with my mind and could kind of suggest to it/tell it what to do, you could do that; or you could play around with Life, it's interesting to know what would happen when we cast it on stuff.
