I'm bored, /tg/.Let's roll up a Hive Fleet.Somebody roll me a d100.
Rolled 22 (1d100)
NID INCURSION SUCCESSFULLY STOPPED INQUISITOR, It turns out they were...ghosts?
>>39768828This thread is going places...
>>39771909Yeah page 10
>>39768957Fuck OP, I'm taking over this thread,We a branch off of Hive Fleet Kraken, like so many other fleets. Now d10 please
Rolled 3 (1d10)
really ought to learn how to do that
>>39772264After many failed attempts, we have discerned that we are merely a planetary infestation. A small group of nids left behind on a planet from a dead fleet, or perhaps abandoned in a hasty retreat. Although, we could also be here on purpose...1d10 for Hive Fleet size>Captcha now has me picking out dogs
Rolled 6 (1d10)
Rolled 10 (1d10)>>39772301Rolling for fleet size
>>39772314praise his name
Rolled 5 + 5 (1d10 + 5)>>39772280>really ought to learn how to do thatJust read the helpful sticky that Nazimod put up! It tells you exactly how to put the dice commands in the email f- what do you mean there's no email field? What do you mean Nazimod didn't know how to roll with subtrahends?
>>39772319I'm going to use this one, only because the image of a fuck huge Tyranid swarm that is contained to only one planet is hilarious. Yes, it seems we aren't lacking in the numbers department, only lacking in ships to actually get around. Or maybe it is just a big planet.1d100 for goals
Rolled 8 - 5 (1d10 - 5)>>39772340I meant to do that.
Rolled 79 (1d100)>>39772360>1d100 for goals
>>39772360We're on that guardsmen planet aren't we?
>>39772377>79We are hunting down a target. Ooo, this is getting interesting. We're a fuck huge army of nids trapped on one world, searching for... something to kill.1d100 for strategic tendencies.>>39772399If so, I think we might have comparable numbers
>>39772399Screencap for the curious. Thread is still going here >>39758713I think captcha is trying to tell me to eat hamburgers and sushi...
Rolled 48 (1d100)>>39772422something with valuable genetics to add to the swarm?
>>39772456Stealth and infiltration. Now I'm picturing we're after a high value target. An eldar farseer or a Space Marine chapter master.1d10 for common biomorphs
Rolled 5 (1d10)>>39772509>1d10 for common biomorphs
>>39772435All of that because I posted one picture.
>>39772534Adrenaline glands. Woohoo for +1 strength on the charge.1d100 for specialist creatures used by the fleet
Rolled 53 (1d100)>>39772565
>>39772596Ultimate Stalker. Well, certainly keeping with the theme here. We have some kind of Death Leaper-esuq stealth organism. It is perhaps leading our hunt for our target.and finally, 1d100 for rivals. This is probably going to determine what we are hunting down.
>>39772399I wonder if the Nids met this army, would the Hive Mind feel challenged?>>39772641Didn't there use to be multiple Deathleapers?
Rolled 98 (1d100)>>39772641What tables are you using, btw?
>>39772565It's not necessarily that "men", for all you know the adrenaline sparks a chain reaction and they go fucking super saiyan limit break after getting beaten about a bit. New claws and muscular growths wetly bursting from the skin as a shriek of defiance screams from their twisting maw as tooth after tooth explodes outward in bloody glory. Alien eyes staring with sharp hunger in them towards you while their body burns it's reserves to ensure a kill.
>>39772661All that "meh", not "men". Autocorrect just loves screwing me over at times.
>>39772661Now that's scary.>>39768828>that pictureSo the Smurfs are stranded now?
>>39772657Using the ones on 1d4chan.http://1d4chan.org/wiki/Tyranid_Hive_Fleet_Creation_TablesAnd our rivalry is with... a Necron Dynasty. Oh boy, we are after the big prey now. Well, there we have it. We're a fuck huge army of stealthy nids trapped on a single planet, hunting down a target and at odds with a Necron Dynasty. Now we need a name and some fluff.
>>39772702Hive Fleet... Osiris?
>>39772734Apophis. Fucking Apophis.
We a branch off of Hive Fleet Kraken, like so many other fleets. A small group of nids left behind on a planet from a dead fleet, or perhaps abandoned in a hasty retreat. Although, we could also be here on purpose...Yes, it seems we aren't lacking in the numbers department, only lacking in ships to actually get around, searching for... something to killStealth and infiltrationAdrenaline glandsUltimate StalkerAnd our rivalry is with... a Necron Dynasty
sicarius latin for assassin
>>39772753What's wrong with my idea?
>>39772753I like this one.Not gonna lie, the way I picture our fleet working is that we have a shit ton of Raveners and Hormagaunts and we bury ourselves underground. As soon as something comes over, the Adrenal glands kick in and we leap out, tearing our targets to shreds before retreating. However, we lack monstrous creatures. Furthermore, I feel like we are hunting down a Necron Overlord.
>>39772702Hive Fleet Sisyphusthe fleet was an attempt by the hivemind to sneak past the defenses of the newly awakened necron empire in the region to get at the the biomass they consider "subjects"though the fleet itself was wiped out in space, enough organisms remained to land planetside and begin the process of rebuilding to enough strength once more.
>>39772754We could be stranded on a planet thanks to that Necron Dynasty, who caught our fleet while it was feeding and blasted the bio-ships out of orbit, leaving us stuck...
>>39772798Out of common curiousity, isn't that impossible? I thought the Hive Mind avoids tomb worlds.
I love how every time we use these tables awesome happens
>>39772829probably because there doesn't tend to be any value in harvesting a dead world, plus the necrons might give off some sort of "bad" vibes to any instincts the nids passing by have
>>39772793Nothing, really. It's just that hive fleets usually get named after sea monsters/serpentine creatures, and while Osiris fits in a way that it's Egypt-themed and our rivals are ancient egypt spess robots, Apophis fits better because it's a snake creature from egyptian mythology.
>>39772799>>39772804These two ideas seem to work. I'm thinking we destroyed the Necron dynasties reanimation chambers in return, so now both sides can't create/recreate their forced and need to be cautious. Us by sneak attacks and the Necrons by being defensive.>>39772829It is not impossible, just unlikely. Nids avoid tomb worlds cause there isn't much biomass on it, but we could have gone to a fertile world, only to discover too late Necrons were under the surface.
To explain the descrepency between size and area covered by our tyranids, I'd say this is some kind of über tomb world, hollow to the core. As if we'd already munched down on it. And it's pissing massive anyway. So there's these endless corridors deep within the planet where gravity gets screwy all the way up to the barren surface where we fight with undead zombie Egyptian robots. But for what? Tyranids hate dealing with necrons more than Halve does with half life. What the hell is motivating us? What kind of heavenly food do they have down there? >>39772829You can live on a tomb world for centuries and not know until they pelvic thrust through your basement, steal your relics and kill your family. Maybe we stopped for a snack and the necrons were just "we called dibs you fucks!"
>>39772872Like I said, I'm picturing we're after the Necron Overlord... although, here's an idea. Maybe both sides are fighting over a resource. Some kind of liquid or ore that is valuable to both sides.
>>39772863makes a kinda sense, fits quite well with the grimdark, everyone lose vibe in 40k.
>>39772859I thought they did. I thought the Hive Mind freaks out because it doesn't sense anything because of the Necrons.>>39772860Now I get it.>>39772863Oh.>>39772872>You can live on a tomb world for centuries and not know until they pelvic thrust through your basement
>>39772945>>39772948So, looks like we are going with Hive Fleet Apophis as a name, and for a backstory, we're trapped on a world with a necron tomb, neither of us able to make new forces as we destroyed their reanimation chambers while they destroyed our fleet, and thus, all our norn queens and spawning locations.Anyone wanna try fluffing our Ultimate Stalker. I'm still enjoying the idea of us doing sneak attacks via burrowing, so I'm thinking we have a special Raverner
>>39772910It's a race of destruction - to see who manages to kill the other first. For us, killing the Necron Overlord as quick as possible while preserving as much of our troops as possible, because then we can cripple our opposition and recycle our biomass to form new ships withut interruption. For necrons it's, obviously, kill off all the alien roaches before they regroup, get into space again fuck up even more shit than they already did.
>>39773010What are those horrible, horrible abominations fighting Orks and the Smurfs? Is that a modern day Carnifex on a rooftop?
>>39773010Oh, actually new idea for our Stalker: A Mawlock Prime, our only monsterous creature. It was an adaptation made out of desperation, as we lost our fleet and thus most of our leader beasts. It now leads sneak attacks, coming up under Triarch stalkers and pulling them under ground to be torn to shreds.
>>39773063That's actually a Hive Tyrant on the roof. The Carnifex is the one in front of the door.
>>39773010Those are 2nd edition Tyranids. Pffft, kids today!
>>39773101How did it get on the roof? Did it fly?
>>39773080That would be more 81-90, Subterranean Horror, I think.
>>39773010So, I think I'm gonna do an official fluff write up and then we can change things.Hive Fleet Apophis was created by the Hive Mind for a bold and daring move: to force its way past a Necron Dynasty and get to the large amount of organic slaves it kept, prisoners from recent wars with the other species of the galaxy. Unfortunately, the Necrons proved to be too powerful, and the fleet's ships were all destroyed, its monsterous creatures cut down. The hive mind was forced to create Mawlock primes just to keep the army together. Trapped on a planet with no way off, things seemed dire for Apophis... that is, until the very Mawlock Prime made out of desperation led a raid that destroyed the Necron's reanimation chambers. Shocked by the loss, the Necron overlord ordered his forces to retreat back to the central tomb and take defensive stances. Now both armies are locked in a stalemate, the Tyranids unable to get into the tomb and the Necrons unable to get out without getting ambushed by the surprise adrenal gland fueled sneak attacks Apophis has become known for. Apophis maintains a number advantage as most of its lesser beasts such as gaunts and raverners were able to survive the initial war, while the Necrons maintain a firepower superiority, having cut down almost all of Apophis's monsterous creatures. Only time will tell which side emerges the victor. For now, both sides wait... wait for the chance to destroy their enemies once and for all.
>>39773410This seems fine to me! Anyway we could expand on how the story will unfold? Im in the mood for a good read
>>39773410>>39773388As I said, Mawlocks fit more with a different option from the table (Subterranean Horror, 81-90), so let's change that.Instead, we could have a breed of lictor primes that coordinate scattered packs of warriors and gaunts, organizing them into a sort of guerilla network that perfrom lightning hit and run attacks on necron troops that methodically scour the surface trying to stomp out the infestation with limited forces.
add new factionslike perhaps eldar have come to deal with both sides or an imperial regiment has been dispatched to either reclaim the world or has been built up from the surviving slaves.
>>39773773Yeah that works. I just didn't want to use Lictors cause, well, whenever you get the Stealthy hunter option, it is always a lictor. I figured we could do something different. Could a Ravener still work? Not a big one like the Red Terror, mind you, just a really sneaky one.
>>39773833raveners which are small enough to fit in the various pipes and crevices which make up the tomb worlds interior before getting their dose of steroids when acting in ambush, their body and muscle mass increasing tenfold but operating under a much reduced lifespan due to the strain. then comes the battle to retrieve the bodies before the necron reinforcements arrive to dispose of the precious biomass.
>>39773815I dig the idea of the slaves being a 3rd faction. I think it would be super interesting if they were made of many factions forced to work together. Humans, Tau, Eldar, and Orks all struggling to survive, stuck between the Necron extermination squads and the hunting nids.
>>39773913each side trying to eliminate the others while preserving their own in addition to trying to contact off world but trying to prevent their foes from doing the same.
>>39773815>Imperial Regiment"Sir, we've got the data on the planet you wanted to colonize.""Let me see that... uh huh... hmm... helmsman! New course!""What bearing, captain?""180 degrees, top speed!"
>>39773965Yeah... you know, this kinda reminds me of that one Ork board game. What was it called? GorkaMorka or something like that?
>>39774016rogue traders with private armies be crazy
>>39773913The slaves would probably come from two sources :a) Previous inhabitants of the planet that were subjugated by necrons when they awoke.b) Captures during raids. In this case, we can have a schism in the slaves ranks, with those captured fighting to find some way to get off-world and natives fighting in a (futile and misguided) attempt to reclaim thir world or out of desperation, because the only other option they have is to lie down and allow themselves to be killed. The conflict between the two groups would strive from the fact that they have very limited resources at their disposal that they would have to compete for.
>>39774077so in other words, warhammer 40k on a very low scale without the whole, nids appear everyone gets eatennecrons appear, oh god-emperor, they won't die.
>>39774119Yeah, this is actually looking really cool. I'm picturing this world as now being a Mad Max style barren desert, with the slaves living in a post-apocalyptic survivalist style, trying to stay out of the way or fight futilely against the two major armies.
>>39774361roving bands of survivors constantly on the move on a almost dead planet trying to scavenge while trying to stay out of the way while two super-factions fight a war of maneuver across the planet, their movements synchronized to the milli-second in an eternal war of regicide
>>39774579I like the idea that full on engagements between Nids or Necrons are rare. Because they can't make more forces, they only engage when it is a guaranteed curbstomp. Like, a shit ton of Hormagaunts leaping out of the dirt to tear apart a bunch of Immortal before they know what hit them, or a Monolith teleporting into an area where it is known that none of the Nids few monsterous creatures are near.
>>39774579This sounds cool, however I do not imagine this is capable of dragging out for too long: - Necrons, while posessing superior firepower durability and abity to quickly respond due to teleportation technology, lack flexibility, true tactical acumen and, most importantly initiative in the conflict, and thus steadily succumb under tyranid raids. - Tyranid remnants due to their flexibility and mobility slowly but surely overpower necrons, but due to the low overal amount of biomass on the planet and inabilty to neither restore their numbers nor inflicting serious damage to necrons without sustaining lossess inevitably starve out and dwindle. - Slaves, despite their desperate struggle, remain minor factor in the conflict and don't even count as a singular "faction". All they do is get ground up between two forces.
>>39774800well maybe not eternal, but can be dragged out for as long as is decided. its an open ended conflict.
>>39774800>>39774885I could see this conflict lasting around 100 years or so, the Necrons in a constant downward trend from the Tyranid raids, but they don't lose forces often as the Necron commander is overly cautious. Here's an idea, let's fluff out our Necron dynasty rivals. After all, they don't even have a name yet. I do like the idea of the Overlord being a delusional coward, afraid of losing even the smallest of engagements, while also thinking he'll eventually win. I imagine he's super paranoid that he will be assassinated by a nid one day and unable to be reanimated, so he always has his entire Praetorean guard on hand and never leaves his tomb palace.
So I take it the only thing that's left is to roll up the Necron Dynasty?
>>39774981Sure, I'll go grab the relevant tables. We can skip steps we've already fluffed.
>>39774981seems sosomeone going to do it here or should we archive this?
>>39775051>>397749811d10 for original side fought on in the Necrontry Secession war
>>39775051Let's do it here, I say. No need to spawn more threads than necessary.
Rolled 4 (1d10)>>39775079
>>39775093(Unification) forced into assisting or face oblivion. I imagine these guys are not popular with other dynasties. Helps add to their isolation factor.1d10 for C'ta fought alongside in War in Heaven
Rolled 6 (1d10)>>39775131>I imagine these guys are not popular with other dynasties. Helps add to their isolation factor.Apparently theu were a minor dinasty, seeing how a single hive fleet managed to bring them to their knees.
>>39775159The Outsider. Oooh, the Outsider left the galaxy, and is rumored to be one of the sources for the Tyranids. The plot thickens. Plus, this also means they have no C'tan shards.Hated nemesis is already set as Nids, so 1d10 for mental damage during the Great sleep
Rolled 4 (1d10)
>>39775251Still believes self to be of flesh and blood and fears own death... well, that explains the overlord's cowardliness.1d100 for objectives... though, this is probably their objective pre-tyranid arrival
Rolled 21 (1d100)>>39775281
Rolled 55 (1d100)>>39775281
>>39775290Converting all sentient life forms into Necrons... wow, it must be extra humiliating that the all life form army beat them back. Finally, 1d100 for favored conversion subject.
Rolled 18 (1d100)>>39775330
>>39775352Humans- They must have something going for them to have spread this much in so little time in such a hostile galaxy. So, now all we need is a name, some characters, and fluff. Unfortunately, I'm going to be largely afk for a bit. Does someone else mind writing the Necron army fluff? I'll be back later and we can develop the ideas further.
>>39775380So, summary:In Seccession Wars were forced to fight for unificationDuring War in Heaven fought alongside the OutsiderNemesis - these pesky spess bugsMental damage - believe themselves to be flesh and blood, and thus mortalObjective - convert other forms into necronsConversion subject - humans. This will need some creativity to put together - the last three choices really don't synergise. At all.
>>39775488perhaps they were kidnapping people during their attacks to civilize them as productive auxiliaries within the necron empire?weren't making them necrons per say, but brainwashing them in the hopes of teaching the lesser races how to serve correctly. meanwhile some poor sod just saw his world burn and is trapped in a classroom with a robot ranting in an alien language at him
>>39775488However, we could make this work by creating several characters with different goals and views. For example, we can have the Overlord that considers itself mortal and thus, shies away from combat, a cryptek that sees the potential in the human form and thinks that transferring into a human body is the right thing to do and a dynasty nemesor/varguard/ a triarchy pretorian that thinks that the rule of the Silent King and the Triarchy must spread over all sentient races and not just necrontyr and views the conversion of everyone into necrons as a way of establishing and enforcing their rule and authority.
We still need a name for the Dynasty
But first, let's settle on the dynasty name. How does Ahemait dynasty sound?http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ammit
>>39775839Ahemait it is
So who runs Ahemait, what is our overlord called?
>>39776123Not just lord, let's name all the most important people of the dynasty.>Overlord, ruler of the dynastyFaiyum>Nemesor, the warlord and the commander of the armies of AhemaitNebeth>Varguard, the leader of lord's protectors.Tefta>Cryptek, the sage and magician of Ahumait's courtTaweret>Triacrh Pretorian, overseer and keepr of the Triarchy's laws.Sobek.Next, to come up with their quirks, personalities and aspirations they had before they faced the prospect of being nommed.
Rolled 66 (1d100)
>>39772700Nah, if you look the "current limit" fluxes around where the Hive fleet is, with Behemoth broken, Macragge is safe.
>>39776515Rejoice brothers, for I have returned. I'm going to archive this thread, cause I think this has the potential to be one of those things /tg/ fully builds on.Anyways, here is our to-do list:Define and name our Stalker super creatureGive personality to the leaders of the Necron forcesName the conflictGreater characterize the slaves trying to surviveName and date the conflict.Get some draw fags
>>39768828Thread is officially archived:http://suptg.thisisnotatrueending.com/archive/39768828/
>>39775600>>39776515So, we should probably combine the quirks listed with the names. Anything else we need to add on?
>>39768828There you go
