When we last left our Princess, we gained a new trade adviser in Basalton the Ratfolk merchant, created a successful toll road through our forest kingdom, at the same time driving trade away from rival kingdom's trade roads, spent the money from that to build a tavern, learned of a necromancer terrorizing a neighboring dwarf kingdom, sent our own dwarf to discuss aid and trade, and then meet face to face in our tavern a group of 4 "Adventurer's" apparently after the bounty placed on you by your traitorous usurper half-brother. The life of a rebel princess, I suppose.

Skills:
>Moderate Military Tactics
>Advanced Leadership
>Advanced Swordsmanship
>Advanced Horse riding
>Expert Court Etiquette

Resources:
>1 Purebreed Hourse
>3 mules

>8 rangers
>1 Cleric

So here you stand, with ten of you best warriors by your side, facing of against a >Human monk

>Elf ranger
>Ratfolk mage
They have made their intentions known by throwing a dagger with your wanted poster attached to it into a nearby pillar. What is your response?

Besides us being the true princess, regardless of there being a bounty, attacking the legitimate leader of a sovereign nation-state is still a crime.
They can do this the easy way, or not.
>>
>Tell them they have been fooled by your half brother and prove to them you are the true princess and not an imposter

"Before you start doing what you think you're about to do, I would like to let you all know that you've been fooled and lied to. I am no false princess, I am Indeed princess Lumora. My royal rapier and dagger should be proof of that for you."

As you hand out your weapons hilt first to show them the ranger steps forward and evaluates them. "Hmm...that's genuine Steelgate Kingdom steel alright, masterwork craftsmanship to, gold decorated hilts with silver finishing."

The Mage lifts one hand, and slowly drags it across his vision as he stares at you. "I don't detect anything untrue about her as well."

The Orc Barbarian stands up. "Well then she is either a master thief who has convinced herself of her own lies...or she is indeed the princess. Normally I wouldn't care but, considering that means she not only has actual claim to steelgate but also this new kingdom she's made up. 3,000 gold is not worth the hassle of getting into a political conflict above our pay grade. We're out."

"Oh is that so?" Says the elf ranger "And why should we trust you to keep your word?"

"Because, you either find the evidence, my old kingdom and my new kingdom become one, I give you titles and wealth, or you find nothing and move on with your lives. Either you gain everything you could ever need, or you simply inconvenienced yourselves for a time. Sounds like a fair risk to me, and you already know I am legitimate in my claims. So you tell me, what have you to lose?"

"Are heads if we go snooping around a kings business." Growls the orc. "Give us the 3,000 we would've gotten from your bounty, and then we will do your little investigation."

Almost immediately after one of your rangers swings in through the second floor window, before landing gracefully on his feet.

"A Little over the top" you think to yourself but it's of no matter when he states Haroldnarl's party has returned from it's diplomatic trip with the dwarves. You immediately call for your horse so as to meet him when he arrives.

Great Success!

You are relieved to see none of his men have died and that he himself hasn't a scratch on him. You greet him on horseback and talk to each other while riding back to the castle.

"It was nice meetin' my dwarf kin again. Even saw my great grand nephew while I was dare. Has his first beard and everything. make's me so proud....anyway. Things are not well in Cravenwood mountain. The necromancer has overtaken the entire capital fortress. They can't even access their distilleries anymore! The dwarf forces have had to bunker down in the nearby above ground villages and assault their own home's entrance. Anyone who didn't get out in time is likely a shambling corpse or skeleton by now..." He says with a deep sigh.

"But their is hope, this necromancer is everybody's problem now. Even the Elves are helping...in their own small way, by providing lumber, which sadly stiffs us out of one possible venue of aid for us to offer. However what they really need is food and forces to keep themselves on the offensive. That's where I think we can come in. A'course as to how we do that is up to you. I just told them we could and they're willing to pay a high price to get back what's theirs."

20 bandits and 10 warriors. If they're in the fortress I assume rangers are uneccesary? (that and they're valuable to us.) It's not long before he leaves with the assigned squadron and heads out with a wagon's worth of alcohol in tow. The Tavern will have to take a dip in it's profits but they dare not complain due to the war cause.

You walk out into the court yard and your own purebreed white horse to meet him.

The man slowly trots up to you before getting off his horse to kneel down to you.

"Princess Lumora of Treeline, firstly I would like to congratulate you on the cravenwood kingdom being the first kingdom in recognizing your kingdom as a sovereign nation. Any contribution to the fall of the heinous undead is welcome in the eyes of angels."

He then proceeds to get up and take off his helmet, revealing himself to be a man of around middle age but already showing signs of gray and white in his hair. "I know you must have but but a small child during the events of the "Great Divine Loss" and during that time the Angelic Church has become the leading church of all good men and woman of the world...yet, some practices die hard. As such the church has made it clear what must be done." He speaks solemnly.

You recall the great divine loss was the event in which the gods of good, evil, law, and chaos, sacrificed themselves in order to destroy their counterpart. After that, only the servants of the divine were left to rule the heavens and...below. The Angelic Church was a combined effort by nearly all good faiths to reconstruct faith in good, dedicating itself to the angels as the main divine benefactors of the world.

"As you may or may not know, with your absence from other royal courts besides your own. The Angelic church has implemented new tenets, all who worship the dead gods are now to be deemed heretics. Even the gods of good, they left the angels to care for us mortals for a reason. I know you hired a cleric of saerenae and if she is still within your command she must be brought to justice for her heresy."

When the gods destroyed themselves, the churches of all the good gods had no one to pray to, their clerical magic still worked, the divine energies their gods manifested was still around, but their was no gods to talk to anymore. Only the servants of the good gods were left, the churches of good gods then came together to create one mega church following the only good divine beings left, the angels. With the church now becoming the major good religion, all others who worship the dead good gods are now considered heretics. Which is a recent development as far as you know.

I'd like to know why they're being called Heretics. It's not like the Old Gods screwed us over, they just stopped talking to us (Since they're dead). It's akin to a father dying. The son can still use his fathers' teachings, it's just that the son can't talk to him because he's dead.

Also, if we succeed in sending him away, consult our cleric about it. And the rest of the clerics too.
we can't have a power gap. Also, before The inquisitor guy goes, ask him about the necromancer problem and their opinion.

>Other (Enforce authority, and delay)

"As you stated so aptly earlier, I am now the ruler of a sovereign nation, meaning I get to dictate the needs of my kingdom. I fail to see the concern of this matter when their are literal corpses crawling out of nearby mountains and I need as much holy power as I can muster to support the fight against it. So as you can see this matter is quite a difficult one to handle. Until such time as these problems are no longer such a pressing issue, my official answer to your inquiry is to be delayed."

"I see." He says giving a single nod before putting on his helmet and getting on his horse. "The church will be informed of your indecisiveness...I will be on my way then."

>Ask him before he leaves his and the churches view on the necromancer problem
>Consult your cleric about her supposed heresy

"My kingdom and it's needs must come first you understand. If I failed to do so I would be a tyrant not worthy of the crown."
then

It might be obvious, but make sure of it.
After that,
>Consult your cleric (and other new clerics)about her supposed heresy
what's her opinion on it, and the others?
Would they accept the change or prefer to stay?

No matter what, we are still dedicated to the removal of the great threat.

"What kind of question is that? Mine and the churches is the same. Even if your one of those necro-sympathizers, the desecration of bodies is an evil act that must be punished. That is why after I report back to the church I will head back through here to Craven wood and destroy every undead I see until I can burn the necromancer alive in holy fire before sending his soul to be damned below in the nine hells to forever burn their to...or turn into a demon, which I will then slay...anyway have a good day your highness."

After that interlude your consul with your cleric is comparatively sparse, stating that she was aware of the new tenet but felt it unnecessary to convert when she could focus on helping others.

She should have, because now we have a potential enemy. If this necromancer problem is dealt with, I would want to send her to change up to the new standards, but that depends on the majority vote.

All right, but I reccomend that you should get in habit of archiving your own quest. what if no one bothers to archive it and an entire session is lost?

I know, and I will in the future. Goodnight and thank you.

We could just ask first.

Of our current clerics, I think we should ask them if they are willing to change to the orthodox view. Our rank and file clerics should be more malleable.

Didn't we ask them just now?
Or did we just ask the cleric about it?

That was just our cleric

Welp. I voted to ask all of them, I must have gotten confused.

damn, missed most of the thread.

I wonder if we can just make....changes...to satisfy everyone involved.

Instead of "worshiping", make it "respecting". The rituals are done to remember what the dead gods did for us, and to thank them. This would only require minor changes to the current prayers and rituals, and will suffice for now as we try to solve the REAL problems here.
