You're currently in your room, legs crossed as you commence your daily meditation. Around you the world flows through its many twisting paths, with those around you being calm and at ease. In the nearby rooms you can feel your brothers and sisters as they go about doing their chores or practicing.

You have no need to leave your sparse room just yet though. You do not need to leave yet, and no teacher has called for your assistance or presence. You prefer to let the world flow through you, even if it has been growing more chaotic and wild as of late. According to wispers you hear that the outside world has been getting more wild and chaotic due to a group of fanatics.
Why any would willingly disrupt the balance of the world is unknown to you, and quite honestly troubles you for reasons you cannot describe.

As you ponder these rumours you have recently heard, instead of focusing on reaching the true reality, you get a pulse from one of the masters. They wish to speak with you it seems. You uncross your legs, rise to your feet, and send a pulse back to the master that you are on your way.

(Current Equipment: Novice Full Body Robes, Novice Neckbeads)

Why is any weapon needed, when the body is the perfect weapon? You open your undecorated wood door and walk out to see the rest of the temple. On the floating rock you see buildings at rest as their occupants move in and out of the decorated shelters. You take a deep breath and let the clean air flow through your body while its energy flows through your mind.

You turn and head down the steps as you feel the location of your master, though you do not need to, as he always awaits his students in the temple of solace. You pass by your brethren, mostly novices such as yourself. You do not know their genders or names, for one does not have the honor of showing their body or divulging personal details until they have proven to be be worthy.

You walk into the temple of solace, feeling the sense of calm and focus it gives off in comparison to the rest of the mountain. You see the master dead ahead, twenty other students all cross-legged and with palms on their knees as they link minds. The master, looks up at you, his long white beard swaying as he does, and waves for you to come over and sit. You do so and sit next to another student before you sync with the rest of the class.

Yeah, "everything" is kind of bullshit, the sort of thing it takes many lifetimes to do.

But summing it up as Improv weapons would fit better because "everything" is a weapon, even the ground they stand upon, ya know?

Besides, picking up "everything" and walking to our master with it sounds like a chore.

Your minds eye opens as you join the rest of the class. Around you your fellows rise as in front of you the master appears. He studies the class, making sure all are currently linked together in unison before stepping back. His step carries him farther than it should, putting him far away, and in front of you all a circle forms.

"I need two." The masters voice is old and scratchy, yet his mental words are filled with wisdom and power. The trainees, including you, all wait for two to walk forward, only for none to do so right away. The master looks among you with a small frown, seemingly dissapointed at the lack of volunteers. "None? Must i pick for my students?" In response you see a student walk forward and manifest a psychic staff in his hands. The master lets out an amused laugh. "Ah yes, always the one who likes his staff. Will we have our regular show today or a different student?" His eye's settle on you expectantly, awaiting your approach

There is no hesitation inside of you. The master ask that you two spar against each other, and you have no right to deny his request. Your classmates move to the side as you walk forward, your robes swaying behind you in non-existant wind. Upon stepping into the circle you feel the world change slightly, and you turn your head to look at your opponent and sparring partner. You have dueled him many times, sometimes winning and sometime losing, though the outcome of the fight does not matter. What matters is that you show patience, skill, and improvement, all of which you are ready to put to use.

Your opponent and you stop in the middle of the circle and turn to one another. His pupils are a light green color, peering back into your own eye's with determination. You both put your legs together and bow, a symbol of respect and honor, before coming back up at the ready. He spins his staff and then settles into a crouch with his weapon pointed towards you. You take a step back and proceed to put out an open palm while pulling a fist back.

The two of you simply watch each other, awaiting the masters word. You do not take your eye's off of your opponent, for losing physical focus risk shows failure and dishonor, while examining the world with mental focus shows strength of will and unity.

You keep watching each other, feeling the seconds pass by infinitely slowly, until your master slams his staff down. "Phase 1, begin!"

When the masters staff hits the ground you are already prepared. You spring forward at your opponent, fist raised, and punch the ground where he was just located. He/She, already flipped back out of your attack, and dashes toward you with his staff forward. You rise and go on the defensive as his stave flies sideways toward your head. You block with your forearm, feeling the blow both physically and mentally, before kicking upwards.

Your foot connects his face and sends him stumbling back. You then go on the offensive while your opponents guard is down. You drop your leg, and when it hits the ground you use it to flip forward and drop the other foot on your opponent. This blow knocks him to the ground, his staff dissipating into thin air. You take a step back and regain your stance as he rises and reforms his staff.

The master raises his staff and points it at you while looking among the other students. "Phase one, left student." The others put their palms together and bow to you, and then master raises his staff into the air. The metal staff is soon surrounded by energy, and he slams it back down to produce a cloud of smoke. You're forced to raise your leg as the circle becomes filled with narrow pillars that you both stand on. "Phase two, begin!"

We should stay mobile and jump around a lot. He won't be able to do the footwork he wants and our hands are free to grab him or the pillars.

It would end with a staf in our gut or crashed against our head, since you can't dodge while in the air.
Jumping kicks from distance are a awful idea, especially against someone with a long weapon.
>>
>>39695084
hm, true didn't think about that
>>
Your opponent moves first this time. He runs towards you, stepping across the pillars with ease as he approaches with his staff held behind his back. You flip backwards as his staff hits the area you were just located in, and then land as your palm stops an incoming attack just in time. The two of you look each other in the eye's for a second before you begin to fight.

You knock away strike after strike while he blocks everything from kicks to punches. The fight is not stationary, with the two of you moving across the field of pillars above the others. At one point you roundhouse kick him off the pillars and into the abyss, and if he hits the ground it he/she loses. Instead he uses his staff to get stuck between two pillars, then spins on it and uses the momentum to fly upwards feet first. Surprised by the maneuver, you are unable to dodge as he hits you in the face with his heel and sends you flying off the pillar.

You land on your back with a heavy thump, and look back up to see your opponent flip off a few pillars before landing in front of you in a crouch. You get back to your feet and retake your stance as the master raises his stave. "Phase two, right student!" The others turn and bow to your opponent before looking back at you two.

You and your opponent go back to watching each other, waiting for the signal of your master. The next part is where you use your abilities to the fullest of your extent. Neither you nor him/her are better than the other when it comes to this, merely it comes down to your own personal skill with your fighting style. You keep waiting, feeling as if the minds around you are holding their unneeded breath as seconds turn into minutes.

The wait is long and test the patience of both of you, yet neither of you twitch or flinch, remaining perfectly still. Your eye's bore into each other as your minds are allowed to prepare the usage of your powers. The master raises his stave, looks between you two, and then slams it down. "Final phase, BEGIN!"

Novice fighting style:
>Kinesis(Your body resonates the most with the higher planes and your powers show it. Your powers focus more on being physical and tangible, though very limited in creativity and range. Enhance your blows, make your body stronger, and more.)
>Elemental(When your mind reached out it did not find the higher planes of consciousness, instead it found the true plain of the world. Your powers are a even mix of ranged and physical, but things resistant to the elements are resistant against you)
>Nirvana(You reached one, you have found a Higher plane of consciousness! Though you are not yet one with it, nor fully even near it, you have a sense of enlightenment that others cannot touch unless they have reached one as well. Your powers are almost 100% mental or invisible, and rarely affect your body in ways that other can feel. Enhance your reaction time, think faster, attempt to read or control minds, telekinesis and so much more)

You let your mind activate and be freed. The world becomes more open to you, showing the twisting paths more clearly, though you do not see their ends. You see your opponents body, seeing the surface of his/her form and muscles. You do not peer into his gender or actual appearance, for you would never disgrace yourself not him in such a way.

Meanwhile your opponents staff burst into flame on both ends. They twirl it around through the air, both ends spewing fire for a second before they drop back into their stance. Apparently they're waiting for you to make the first move.

You believe that its best to engage your opponent head on for now. You rush forward at him, enhancing your mind so that you can see his attacks. You watch him as you charge, looking for a opening before punching forward. He doesnt move to dodge your attack, and you dont see his muscles move an inch, but when you do reach him he strikes.

He spins on his foot, staff held outward as flames cover its tip, and dodges your blow without ever really moving. You fall forward, and before you can right yourself he raises his staff and drops it down on your back. In the real world such an attack would have killed you, but luckily in here it did not.

You hit the ground as flaming pain runs up and down your spine, ruining your focus. Your opponent takes a step back, and you hear the masters stave hit the ground. His voice has a hint of dissapointment to it as he speaks. "Phase three, right student. Right student is phase master!" All the students turn and first bow, then kneel to your opponent. You pick yourself up and after bowing to each other the two of you walk out of the circle.

The master steps forward, appearing in the middle of the circle as it dissipates back into mind energy. He looks among you all and shakes his head. He gives a wise smile as he speaks. "As you can see students, patience is the greatest asset." He gestures to you and your opponent as he talks, using the two of you as examples. You feel a bit dissapointed that you loss, but push it away as an unneeded thought. "Without patience one cannot reach, and if one cannot reach then unity is out of the question. Sit, and let me feed you the fruits of the mind."

A few hours later the class ends. You all return to your bodies, rise, and thank the master for his help. You have the rest of the day to yourself, what do you do?

Such a failure on your part cannot go unpunished. You leave the temple of Solace and head up to your room. Upon arriving into the sparse area, you walk into the middle and sit down with your legs crossed. You close your eye's and drift off into meditation, feeling the closest paths around you.

You have been meditating for quite some time. You feel the energy running through your body, using it to control and calm yourself. Rising up and drawing your mental mind back into its body, you open the door to your room and look out at the night sky. The night air is even more comforting than normal, and you see mostly guards, and masters in the streets. Heading down the steps, shoes clacking against the stone steps.

You dont manage to reach the bottom though, for you suddenly feel the air disturbed. You feel an unnatural presence, one filled with hate and anger approaching the temple. You turn towards the gate and see a few guards rushing out of it for some reason. You start to walk the rest of the way down, when a massive ball of fire hurtles through the air. It hits the wall above you in a mighty explosion, that sends you flying off the walls and onto the hard ground below.

You hit the ground, and your immediatetly knocked out as your mind senses disarray and chaos going on around you...

You slowly open your eye's as pain runs through your body. Your head hurts both physically and mentally as you sense loss around you. The world seems to be burning, and you hear the screams of your brethren in your head. You turn your head and see the eye's of a dead novice. Seeing the face scares you and causes you to move back and look at it with fear. One of your brethren is dead?!

Before you can think to long on the thought you hear metal hitting the ground hard. Looking up you see a man coated in metal plates falling to the ground, his chest pierced by the metal staff of one of the guards. Another armored man, with a sword in one hand and mace in the other, charges the guard and they make battle for a few moments before the mace slams into the guards head.

The guard falls to the ground with blood leaking from his skull, and his double-sided pronged staff rolls over to your feet. Feeling his mind leave the mountain hurts you, and you look up to see the armored soldier facing you. He takes a step towards you and looks down at you through the skits of his helmet. When he speaks his voice is filled with hate and disdain. "Get up heretic, and revoke your foul practices!" You dont move, frozen with fear, and he lets out an angry grunt. He takes a step forward and then breaks out in a run towards you. "Then die where you lay mind flayer!"

Seeing him charge frightens you. What can you do against someone so heavily armed and armored? You look around frantically and see the double pronged staff in front of you from the guard. You start to reach for it but as soon as your hand comes near your hit by the aftershock of one of your brethren dying. You never were prepared for this, the loss of friends and family, and due to your specific power the effect was only amplified.

You fall back in pain, letting out a muffled scream as your mind is filled with the pain of his death. You start to writhe on the ground, barely registering the armored man standing over you. His voice if filled with slight disbelief. "Guess the legends are true. You mind flayers cant accept an honorable death, instead killing yourselves with your own powers." He raises his blade high above you as he looks down at your squirming form. "I grant you release heretic, may the high god burn you for eternity." He swings his sword down, and it seems this will be the end of you.

Then halfway through his swing his chest is pierced by a flaming staff. He stops, seemingly in shock, and then falls forward and lands next to you with a metal clang. You look up to see your sparring partner above you, reaching down and helping you up. You can barely stand though, for the pain of so much death is ringing through your head still. Your brother silently drags you away, and you hear the sound of fighting all around you.

Your brother takes you somewhere, drops you off onto a bed, and then bends down as he/she connects their mind with yours in an attempt to heal you.

You feel your brethren's calming and soothing presence in your head. He/she reaches out and grabs your shoulder before locking eye's with you. The pain slowly goes away and leaves your mind, and you almost let out a sigh of relief as the horror leaves you. The feeling of your brethren dying though is still stuck in your head, but it has been pushed away to let you focus back on the real world.

He nods to you, and you nod to him. He grips your arm and rises up with you, and you see that the two of you are in the Temple of Solace. You see a number of other novices in here, some still ok, some wounded, and others dead. Before you can think on it though your brother directs your vision to you and makes the symbol of serenity.

You follow suit with the symbol of clarity, and the two of you touch hands as your mind calms down once again. He/she then reaches down and picks up a pair of Katar, the ones belonging to a guard, and hands them to you.

You shake your head, physically and mentally declining the Katar. You turn and look down at a nearby dead novice, and your brothers eye's follow your gaze. Though it pains you to do so you must take the precious weapon from your brethren. You bend down and begin to unstrap the weapon from your brother as the sounds of combat grow closer. The gloves come off easily, but upon touching them your struck with mental pain.

You fall to one knee, and your other brother puts a hand on your shoulder while mentally comforting you. You thank him/her, take the gloves off, and put them on in time for the main doors to be blown open by gold fire. You see one piece of debree crush your allies, and you turn away before the pain can overwhelm you.

Through the hole you see 30 armored men charge inside, and walking in with them is one with both larger and better armor. A few moments later you see guards enter from other areas, charging at the soldiers, and with them is none other than your master of the temple. As the two forces clash you see the master and the golden knight face each other, and your out of range to hear. Meanwhile the novices and others are being moved and evacuated deeper into the temple

Its no issue, we all learn at first. Just want to know what exactly we are going to do now.
Bo3, so success if any dice is above DC
Average of Three, Results addded together/3 needs to be above DC
Or 2 successes out of three, two rolls need to beat DC.
Of course the last would drastically decrease player chances, but if it fits th story.

You cant allow your brethren to be harmed, and now that you have partially recovered you feel that you should assist. You rise, look back to your brother and nod to him. He gives you a mental warning about the dangers but you send him a mental flash of determination. He nods to you, and then you put on the spiked hauntlets before heading to assist the guards.

You head in first and encounter another armored man, this one with a shield and a sword. You attempt to punch him, but he blocks with his shield and you are forced to pull back and move away as his sword slices through the air. Meanwhile your brother kills one man by burning him alive, and then slamming the tip through anothers chedt before engaging a third.

You're not doing as well as him though. The man in front of you can block almost all your strikes, and even with your agility his shield is too strong to pierce and too large to get around.

The problem was never your choice of system, the problem is that it's taking multiple tries for you to explain which system you ARE using.

Flipflopping only makes it harder to understand.
>>
You use your mental powers and reach out to the soldiers shield. You 'grasp' it and then rip it away from him and hurl it away. The soldier stumbles forward in what seems to be surprise, and you uppercut towards him with your spiked fist.

The spikes goes straight through his helmet and into his face before the rest of the blow jerks his head back, blood flowing out of his puncture wounds. He lets out a scream of pain before falling backwards and clutching at his helmet.

You then turn as another group of soldiers approaches, only for them to be burned alive by a jet of flame from your brethrens staff. You thank him, and then turn to see the master fighting against the gold knight.

The two of them fight furiously, the masters eye's glowing as he pours his energy into his staff. Meanwhile the knight blocks each strike with his glowing shield or parries with his golden sword. The two of them do not cease for a moment, and at one point the knight sweeps his blade where masters face would be. The master slides by the attack and rises in a spin to knock the man down.

Before he can strike though the master is hit by the hilt of the sword, and he clutches his head until the knight turns and skewers him. There is horror in your eye's and mind ad you see your masters shocked face let out a cough of blood. The knight looks at him and speaks with tempered fury as he pushes the blade deeper. "This is the fate of all heretics old man. One as wise as you should have known that." He then rips his blade free, and the master falls to the ground without his staff.

You turn to run, but then your brother runs forward, dodges a sword strike, and grabs the masters staff before running back to you. He/She grips your shoulder and points to the entrance way, and you look between him and the soldiers.

Average of three rolls of d100.

Just use best of three. So you look at the first 3 rolls. Pick the best one. If it passes DC, we succeed. If not, we fail. If there is a 1 it is a crit fail. If there is a 100 it is a crit success.

There arent many left, and you feel that with a mix of patience and skill you two can succeed. You and your brother stand back to back in your separate stances as you're surrounded by the last ten remaining soldiers. You let your mind settle and flow through the world, feeling and seeing the possible actions of your opponents.

Three soldiers charge you at the same time, and thanks to your thinking speed you see how and when they will strike. As the left soldier swings his blade downward you move and elbow his shoulder while pulling his arm.

There is a loud snap, and scream until you let go of his arm and punch him in the back of the neck. The other is already on his way, but you use telekinesis to send the dead mans blade into his partners throat. He gurgles blood, dropping his weapon as he grasp at his throat, and then falls back on the ground.

The last soldier doesnt hesitate to charge you, screaming about you being a heretic, he attempts to stab you. You move to the right, and punch into his chest twice with the spiked gauntlets. He stumbles back and then falls to the ground dead. You look back to see your ally finish his enemies and nod to you. Now all thats left is the slowly and confidently approaching gold knight.

>He killed a master, he can definetly kill you. Run away with the others

As the armored man approaches you can feel his power. It is foreign, and strainge, but you can tell that it is not something to be trifled with. You use your telekinesis and begin picking up nearby objects with your "hands", before throwing them at the knight.

Meanwhile you and your brother back away as he keeps advancing with his shield raised. Your brother shoots off another gout of flame that failes to harm the man, but does prove effective in slowing him down. This isnt enough however, for now its best to just run as fast as you can.

You turn and tell your brother that its time to go, and the two of you turn and run into the innards of the temple as more troops come through the hole. The two of you run into 40 guards with spears aimed at you, and then pass once seen to be novices. You arrive in a room full of people, and turn back to see the gold knight advancing with his troops.

You turn to the hall as the guards prepare to engage the soldiers. They cant possibly be expected to hold them off long enough for everyone to escape! As this thought crossed your mind you remember the most important thing you have, your mind. You open it back up and let the world into it, feeling the chaos and death around you. It hurts at first, but you soon manage to find your own mental calm.

You raise a hand, your eye's glowing, and push forward hard with an open palm. Nothing happens at first until the whole group of soldiers, including the man in gold, are sent flying back with a yell and landing in a metal pile. You pull your hand back, surprised at your attack by letting your mental powers free, and the guards look back at you with respect and thanks from what you can see.

At first it seems you all are finally safe...and then the ceiling above you explodes. Brothers and debree fall down and crush many people, while you narrowly dodge a falling statue and rise next to your brother. The walls as well seem to be crumbling, as before your very eye's the shaking temple falls apart. You crane your head up and see the whole ceiling collapsing and falling towards you.

You have to do something! The ceiling will kill both you and the rest of your brethen if you dont think fast. You speed up your reaction time and thought speed, forcing everything around you to almost move in slow motion. You think of all the possible things you could do, telekinesis, a warning, run, but all these are futile. Your not strong enough to stop all of that, and its too late to warn or run.

You start to become desperate, how will you save your brothers? You search your mind for so many possible ways, and soon you find something new, a spiral of energy in your head one could say. You feel that it can save you and your brethren if you use, and you have no time to questions its abilities.

You raise your fist, look down at the ground, and punch with all your might. There is a loud distorted boom, and then everything gets covered in purple energy. As it works you feel an extreme drain on your body, and you black put as everything dissapears...
