Stage 74: When all else is lost....

Araihama beach is a secluded sort of place, and you've sufficiently bribed the local police to keep everyone out for a while. With Chisato's Yakuza as an added deterrent, backed up by a few of Peta-chan's nogitsune-born clan members, no one is going to bother you here at all.

Which doesn't stop you from feeling the looming shadow of doom over your head.

Part of it is that you've dealt with a number of the people who have been troubling you and your family, and made certain they won't be bothering you ever again. But every step down that road leaves you with more dangerous enemies who have more and more knowledge about you. You've managed to keep a number of your secrets though, and you've disrupted many of their plans, so it should be a wash, shouldn't it? Of course, then you were tricked, or forced, into a misstep in the landlord's peculiar reality. To Kiku-chan and your family, it was a mere three minutes.

For you, it was two centuries of being stuck in a madhouse that made most youkai look positively personable and well adjusted. You battled your way through that insanity, clawed your way through sustained by the thoughts of your family and loved ones, the people who relied upon you, and the beautiful faces that adored and cherished you. The help that the landlady sent was enigmatic, and not always kind or generous, but they were help. When you stumbled back out into the real world, you had forgotten huge swaths of your memory, an unthinkable and alien idea for a Water dragonette. You keep seeing flashback and reliving moments of that eternity.

You haven't told your family.

You haven't told your family.

They're fully aware that you suffered some trauma, but the last time you went to visit the landlord you suffered an voyeurism that Yui-niji-chan had to crack your skull open to heal. This last time you stumbled out with amnesia and your eyes full of blood. They're a little better now; there is actual white around your irises now, but you are still far out of touch with the real world, the physical world. You nearly died, your spirit dissolving in the face of your horrific experience; Yui-niji-chan, Kiku-chan, Rie of all people, and Er Yin-sensei pulled you back and nailed your spirit to the world.

Er Yin, wounded as she was, had help from a higher power. The Highest Power.

There is one thing you consistently remember, though: the aching, hollow pain of being trapped alone, away from your family, not knowing if they worried about you. Not knowing if they were safe. And that deep pain prompted you to say something you probably shouldn't have to your best friend, the person you missed most as you battled for your very existence in the Black Caverns of N'Kai.

Akari is holding you, as you embrace her tightly, sobbing into her shoulder, wetting her sporty swimsuit with your tears. As always she doesn't press for an explanation, or ask you what's really wrong. She holds you, confused and concerned, but silent and calm.

Trusting you.

[] Apologize for making a scene – you're still not rested yet.
[] Try and explain to her what happened; if anyone could cope, it's Akari.
[] Shake your head and just let it pass for the moment. You'll explain another time.
[] Deep, calming breaths. She doesn't need to know, no one needs to know.
[] Just hold her close and tell her how much you love her.

[X] Just hold her close and tell her how much you love her.
[x] Shake your head and just let it pass for the moment. You'll explain another time.
[x] Apologize for making a scene – you're still not rested yet.

You shudder as you struggle to regain control of yourself, and Akari-niji-chan remains there, supporting you effortlessly, your literal rock. Her hand slides through your hair slowly, and she says not one word as you cry yourself out.

Eventually you will tell them, tell someone what happened. But not here, and not now. You need them to be sure of you, and they need you to be strong. Even though you suspect that it would really change nothing – you've already been to Yomi and that didn't bother anyone but your priestess – yet you hesitate to try and explain. Barriers as understood by spirit-children weren't anathema to all life as understood by mortal souls.

You don't lift your head, as you whisper softly to your best friend. “Gomennasai, Akari-chan. I'm not fully rested yet.” She shakes her head, saying nothing, just stroking your hair and letting you tremble against her. “Akari....I love you. You're the most important person in the world to me. I love my wife, and your Yui, and Er Yin's Kiku, and I love Er Yin...and I do care for Yuuhi-chan and I'm learning to appreciate Inau-san and Shoko-san....but none of them, none of them understand me like you do. None of them can.”

Akari's hand comes to a slow half, resting along your back. “Aniki....did something.... did something happen to you?” Her voice is very soft, and you can tell by how breathless it sounds she's barely moving her lips. Keeping your secrets.

“....another time, Akari-niji-chan. Now now.” Your tail slides around her thighs and you hold her close, hug her tightly. She slips both hands under your arms, up your back, a firm, gentle hug.

>Holding very still, you keep your calm. The dozens of limbs hold you in place, but do not grasp or clutch. The bile yellow light from the sun-mouth pours over you, illuminating the spidery limbs of whatever lies under the pale blue desert sands. You shift and they tighten; you struggle and they threaten, claws extending from chitinous armor that looks more like gore covered bones. You can't panic, so you don't. Find another way, an Akari way....

Forcing your your clenched hands to relax, you realize Akari-niji-chan is breathing hard. “Aniki...?” she whispers softly. You blink slowly, looking down at the tiny, thin lines of red you scored her lower back with. The ruby talons of your right hand just slid off, but your sapphire talons aren't natural in the slightest.

[+] apologize and give her....uh....aftercare, sure. That's a good way to...no, that's a terrible way to put it!

Moving with great deliberation and care, you step away from Akari, who watches you carefully, her dark eyes filled with concern. She doesn't seem to be bothered by the shallow scratches, but they bother you a great deal – you didn't even notice inflicting them. You slowly drop to your knees, your hands sliding down her arms before you drop them to your sides, making sure you haven't injured her further.

It's with something of a shock that you realize her hard breathing has very little to do with being worried, frightened, or angry. No, those peaks that are showing even through the sporty swimsuit she's wearing are indicators of something entirely different.

You gently turn her around, and she obediently does so. They're not deep, hardly paper-cuts, but there are four of them, and your thumbnail mark, which is deeper, but still shallow enough not to be worrisome. “I'm sorry, niji-chan,” you murmur softly, tracing the lines of your claws. “I didn't intend....”

Her tail slides around your wrist and she shakes her head, her right hand resting between her breasts. “It's you, Ryukusa.”

Swallowing the lump in your throat, you kiss the tiny cuts, one by one and she shivers, arching her back a little, her tail tightening.

>Trapped under the massive paw, the abomination lowers it's strangely feminine head, tongue lolling from a fang filled maw. You tense, but the tongue slides over the gash in your abdomen, almost under your ribs, hot and fiery. You squirm and struggle against the tons and tons of inhuman fur, muscle and bone to no avail, as the creature licks your wounded side, each stroke drawing blood from the wound, pain from the blood. The black threads of venom fade with each lick until what emerges is bright crimson....

You draw your tongue away from the wounds, and Akari gasps, shocked....and then shudders as you pull away. You run your fingers over the sealed cuts, and then lick the deeper puncture wound, which doesn't seal immediately. Another few licks, though, and it is clean and safe from infection or the salt water of the ocean.

Akari is breathing even faster.

You hesitate before asking. “Better?”

“H...hai aniki,” she murmurs in a very small voice. The kind of voice you would expect in a bedroom.

Standing, you see Inau-san, Yuuhi-chan, and Kiku-chan walking along the rocks, the last picking her way carefully around the slippery stones and avoiding the tide pools. She's wearing a short silvery-white and red yukata and boy's shorts, and has on her geta rather than sandals or zori.

You try not to think too hard about the implications of what you have just done, because that's a level of hope you had to learn to live without. Also the damage is much more extensive.... “I suppose you're going to go back to shadowing me for Kiki-hime, then?”

“Mhn. She is terribly worried.” She sounds sated, almost satisfied. Perverts, the lot of them.

[XXX] Well, I'll see to it that you have something to watch.

You sigh softly, though it's clearly faked more than real. “Well, if it is Kiki-hime then it can't be helped, can it?” Akari-niji-chan shakes her head, smiling that coy little of smile of hers. You look at her speculatively. “She's been your friend for a long time, hasn't she?”

“Not a long time, but since we were in school, yes.” That surprises you. You hadn't been aware Akari-niji-chan had been that close to her in school. “We had someone we both thought of as a special person to us.”

“I....I see.” you rise slowly and run your right hand along her bare arm and she smiles. “Well, go and do your duty to her, my beloved Akari-niji-chan.” a sudden, wicked thought blooms and you smile sweetly. “And you and Yui-niji-chan are very attentive, you might get to see something worth watching, later tonight.” The blush that starts on her cheeks is well worth it, but when you give her a wink, she shudders.

“Perhaps you might wait a little longer before trying that, aniki.” You look down at the tide pool. Yeah, she's probably right on that account. Your eyes are really messed up still.

“Ah, shoo! Get!” You chase her into the rock wall and she slides into it, laughing. “BRAT!” you call out loudly, though you don't get a response aside from Yuuhi and Inau-san looking up. Kiku-chan is too busy avoiding the tide pools.

You sit down on the edge of the tide pool, and slip your feet into the cool water, sighing softly as you wait for the others to arrive. By the time they do arrive, Inau, who is wearing a rather interesting strapless one piece with high thigh cuts, and Yuuhi, who is wearing a simple blue school swimsuit, are both looking relieved. Kiku-chan is last to arrive, and walks carefully over to where you are to kneel slightly behind you.

“Ryukusa-sama, I am glad to see you have recovered,” claims Inau-san, her sincerity so intense that she's probable detonated the nearest five kitsune. She bows to you and you wave for her to stand.

“You don't need to bow to me; it's bad enough all of them call me aniki, even Er Yin now. Besides, someone might take it the wrong way and you'll get me in trouble with the Yaks.” Inau-san mouths the word 'yaks'. “The Yakuza.” She shakes her head and you blink. “The criminal gangs we're having a party with.”

“Oh. I didn't know who they were.”

“I thought you went to a military school?” you ask dubiously and she shrugs mildly.

Yuuhi walks over and wraps her arms around your neck, to your surprise, and hugs you tightly. She also doesn't let go. Nor does she seem interested in letting go. Like at all. Ever. “Uh, Yuuhi-chan....” She snores softly and it takes an effort to not deliver a face-palm to yourself.

You tug her tail mildly and she wakes up, going to her knees next to you and shaking her head. “'S warm here,” she mumbles.

[X] Have Inau-san take her back to the umbrella.
[+] Pets and love for her, and pets....well, lo....um, appreciation for Inau-san. Sure. Right. Why are you blushing?

You run your hand through the soft chocolate brown of the nogitsune-child's hair, and she smiles at you, blinking her soft red eyes blearily. You smile back and lean over, kissing her on the forehead. “Go and take a nap. There's bound to be fireworks and melon later, and I'm sure Shoko-san will worry.” She nods agreeably, and is swaying back and forth unsteadily.

Inau-chan is looking down and pinching her nose; naturally when you notice this, you can't help but aggravate her condition by leaning up, gently taking the tip of Yuuhi-chan's ear, and lightly nibbling on it.

“YIE!” Yuuhi-chan is instantly on her feet, and rubbing her ear excitedly with both hands, her tail swishing back and forth so fast it can't even complete the waves, making it look like an undulating comet behind her. Kiku-chan is looking up in surprise and Inau-chan hand both hands over her mouth and nose, making a soft whimpering noise. You look up with wide eyes, and Yuuhi-chan freezes in place, staring at you. “Ah, gomen gomen, they're rilly sensitive, aniki!” She bows to you several times, her hands at her sides.

“I rather picked up on that, Yuuhi-chan. Inau-chan will take you to the umbrella; I don't think she'll mind.” Despite her shock, your nogitsune-vixen is already nodding off again. Inau takes several deep breaths, and her blood pressure drops to something survivable; you bow over your folded hands to her, mouthing a thank you to her. Her bright eyes are full of humour as well and she nods as she gently guides the sleepy Yuuhi-chan away.

“She seems just fine now, Kiku-chan,” you murmur once they're well out of earshot. You lean back on both hands, kicking the water in the tide-pool lazily and startling the clown-fish. She makes a non-committal humming noise. “Oh, I know she's not over it, but she is doing well. It seems her fear is technology based, so the fireworks should be fine.”

“Hai, aniki.” She remains silent for a moment, and you relax, taking strength from the cool water and the cool breezes around you.

[XXX] Apologize for not being able to take care of her like you planned.
[XX] Ask her how Er Yin is doing.
[X] Ask her if she would like to go swimming with you.

The silence isn't really silence. The wind, the cries of gulls, the leaves of the trees, the slap of waves along the beach, and the distant party are all softened here, but not absent. You pull your legs out of the water and slowly turn to face the delicate dragonette. Though you've enjoyed her company once, and you've certainly teased and brought her over more than once, aside from Er Yin Kiku-chan is the only one whom you haven't really spent a great deal of time with yet she's the one with whom you've been more intimate than some of the others.

The peculiarity of her nature is such that she needs someone to keep her, control her. You don't know how that started, or why, but it is more than a kink or fetish, it is a deep seated need, a necessity perhaps. She's sitting demurely, looking down at her hands, which rest on her bare thighs. “Kiku-chan....” The Fire dragonette lifts her head, giving you her full attention, her golden eyes fixed upon yours despite the awful injuries.

“I am very sorry that I failed you again.” She looks at you, confused. “I didn't get to take care of you, like I had planned to. And I am sorry for that.” It had preyed upon your mind, for the first few hours you had been so worried

>as you stumble on a plain of cobblestone sized rocks, polished smooth and gleaming in the dark light of the burning grey sky. The boiling moon leaves streamers of itself as it moves across the sky, stars of green exploding into nebulous dust in its wake. The creatures that are pacing you, many-legged lizard-like things with too many eyes, are whispering to one another in secretive voices. You stumble again, and fall to hands and knees, but they do not rush you, only pause, waiting, and watching. Kiku-chan is waiting for you, a billion years away and a billion miles ago, and

she was alone, ignorant of your plight and wondering if she'd been abandoned by you. Her hand is gently gripping your bicep, and she is looking into your face, concerned. Her eyes are not those of a child; they're old, old eyes. You look back....and a look of understanding dawns upon her face. You keep forgetting how old she is.

“You're not seventeen any longer, are you, Ryukuza,” she whispers softly, gently.

[X] Kamidamnit, Kiku-chan! Stop being so smart! You're supposed to be cute!

“Nineteen. I was nineteen.” You clench your hands on the smooth rock, and splinters of stone make flowery patters around the deep grooves your talons cut into it. “It took me....I had to guess at the length of the days. They weren't normal. So....I think....” You look up at the bright blue sky, the color of your wife's eyes. You think back, but not too hard. “I'm more than two hundred and twenty-six now.”

The look of horror on Kiku-chan's face is far more than enough to galvanize you into action. You grab her hand, covering the delicate hand on your arm with the hand opposite. “You can't tell them, Kiku!” Your vehemence startles her out of her horrified shock. “I don't want them to worry, or pity, or be concerned about what happened to me.” Her eyes narrow and you can feel her blood heating up. “Not yet. Not yet, Kiku-chan. I'll tell them.”

She relaxes some, but her eyes are still catlike and angry. Heh, Rie would be amused. “How badly damaged are you, Ryukusa,” she asks pointedly.

You relax, and leans back. “I was supposed to be consoling you, Kiku-chan. You're definitely not cute when you act your age.”

Her eyes flash angrily. “How badly?”

[] Damn it, Kiku....
[] ….I'll live.

You know, this begs a really interesting question. If Oba-san tripped Ryukusa, just what kind of corruption is she suffering from having to endure that world? She doesn't have love, happiness, or family to buoy her, and I doubt she came or left the way Ryukusa did.

You turn and dip both your hands into the tide pool, and bring the water up to your face, washing your eyes as you sigh. She doesn't pester you further, but you can feel her Fire Eyes on you.

Crap. The instant Yui-niji-chan or Er Yin-sensei look at you with Void eyes they'll know.

You turn back, sitting cross-legged before her and she glares at you, her expression hard. “All right! Calm down.” She relaxes, but doesn't stop glaring. Which is kind of an interesting trick, if it weren't directed at you. “My memory is damaged. I don't know how badly yet, but it definitely is no longer perfect. I keep having flashbacks, sometimes bad enough they might be considered fugues. I don't always know what I'm doing in them, but I don't act out or react to threats in them, so far.”

The last two words make her anger dissipate and she looks concerned. “'So far'?”

With a sigh you wipe your eyes clear of the salt water. “I don't know how bad it is. But that's not really the worst. Er Yin-sensei....no. Amaterasu-Omikami had to fasten my spirit back to my body. I don't think I'm wholly connected to the mortal frame any more. I'm closer to kakuriyo than I am to this world.” You look at her and smile sadly. “But at least it's not Yomi, right?”

Kiku looks down at the rock between you and her and murmurs softly, “No, no, it's not Yomi.”

You lean over and cup her cheek, and she looks at you, her eyes filled with sadness and sympathy. “It wasn't like a Barrier, not the way you think. I didn't go mad from that. So....you can't tell them, because I don't know how bad I really am yet, and I don't want to try and explain where I was just yet.” She places her hand over yours, and nods solemnly. “Thank you.” She nods, absently, and you feel....much better, really. Not great, certainly not rested, but better. “Now, tell me how Er Yin-sensei is doing.” Gently, you draw her into your lap, and sigh sighs softly, allowing you to do so. It doesn't take much to figure out she's wearing a swimsuit under the yukata and shorts.

“My master is not in very much pain now, but that's partly because Yui-san and she have blocked off her meridians. She is not gaining as much Chi as she should, but she is not suffering. Not pain, anyways.” Kiku-chan looks down at her geta. “Her Shen is badly damaged. She wouldn't be able to last more than three tiers of Barrier combat before she faints. We cannot let her get involved in a fight like that. Gin-Gin can fight well enough otherwise, but....”

You run your hands though the soft silk of Kiku's hair, listening quietly, feeling the dampness of it from the sea spray. Slowly Kiku-chan leans into you, relaxing by degrees. “I think the injury goes deeper than it looks, Ryu-tan. I am afraid that her dragon meridian is damaged and she is not sleeping right.” It takes you a moment to recall what she's talking about – the dragon meridian is actually a point where chi is concentrated, just below the clavicle and near the shoulder joint, the one called Li. You didn't see her lung, but that doesn't mean the injury doesn't affect it.

“I can fix that,” you murmur softly. “There's a way to correct that, but it isn't easy, and it will hurt. But she'll sleep better.”

Kiku-chan turns to look up at you. “Really?”

You nod slowly. No, it won't be pleasant at all, and you definitely don't want anyone except Er Yin watching. Unfortunately, you doubt Yui-niji-chan would let that fly.

Kiku-chan looks down at the ground. “I am glad. “ Her voice has that soft, wavering quality of someone suffering for her loved one.

We know that the beings inhabiting that place can be bribed, and Oba-shit has bigger means than us.

Also, she's a full-fledged deity.

Now, the question is: which is more terrifying? The possibility that she had enough means counter the effects of this place, or the one that she didn't need to?

There's also something to remember that if the Christian deity us now a kami, other parts of Christianity may be trying to find their ways in. Which also might be related to Oba-san. Somehow, her doing all of this seems a bit out of her league.

[X] She showed you her world and her devotion. Now you will show her your world, and your devotion.

You lean back a little, supporting yourself with your tail since your hands have important work. Namely, playing with your Fire dragonette's coppery horns. You lightly brush your talon tips along the warm, smooth surfaces, and you can feel her relaxing even as her blood starts to slowly heat up from the attention. Her delicate hands tighten into small fists and you slowly slide your hands over the smooth coppery branches, exploring them with the skin of your palms as you might her body.

The reaction she gives you is close to being the same.

The chances of Er Yin having been able to take care of Kiku-chan properly are pretty slim, and she needed it before. And to be honest, you need this too. She knows the secret, so at the moment, she's the safest for you to be with, right now, in this way. Though, Akari certainly didn't complain. You smile and slide one hand along her pointed ear, tracing and teasing, then down to her throat. You gently twist her head, guiding with horn and chin, until you can lean over, and give her a slow, gentle, and very deep kiss.

She responds with the slow, gentle warmth that you have been showing her, accepting the kiss, accepting the deepening of the kiss, and reciprocating not-quite-equally. The consummate submissive, but you have no doubt that this is happening with her permission. Even you would have trouble escaping from a slag pit.
>>
>>39672749
Least we can take a measure of solace thanks to the law of theological reciprocity.
>>
>>39672886
But right now, she is pliant and delicate, and she needs you. Slowly you release her from the kiss; she turns to face the ground again, watching the tide pool a little way from you. You slowly untie her belt, and you can feel her heart speeding up. Slipping the shoulders of her yukata down, you bare her delicate, pale shoulders and slender white arms. You kiss each side of her neck and she makes a soft noise of pleasure....you bare her body, and shiver as her tail twists, squirms against you as you reveal her swimsuit. You stand her up and she remains standing in that position, head down, tail writhing, blood hot and heart quick and heavy.

Not QUITE a slingshot, but very, very close. It ties at the back of her neck, and the two parts of the front dip in a deep “V” that bares her solar plexus. The back of it splits below her tail, and ties at the sides. The edges are thin red piping....and the material itself is a not-quite sheer pearl-white. That will hide absolutely nothing when it gets wet.

You stand slowly and murmur softly, “Come with me, into the water.”

“I can't swim, Ryu-tan,” she whispers softly.

“But you aren't afraid.” Kiku shakes her head. “Then come swim with me.”

She nods, almost imperceptibly, and follows you to the crystal blue ocean.

Thank you all for reading and playing. A few questions answered before I go.

>>39668078
Yes, but not Lovecraftian repercussions. The repercussions Ryukusa will suffer are strictly a result of her mental and physical fortitude being tested, and her spirit being treated roughly. The latter she has been given assistance by Amterasu-Omikami, though Er Yin, and her miko will help her as well.

>>39668340
No, there is no correlation between the Other/Outer Gods and Great Old ones, and the Demons in Nagasaki.

>>39668514
Because it happened in a Barrier, Kiku suffered no ill effects. In fact, Kiku is the one who will help Ryukusa the most because it's her duty and place in the world to do so.

>>39668648

N'Kai is simply a spiritual plane outside of the Earthly. Shinto would classify it as 'a hell' simply because it's inimical. Likewise, Kuraokami's cloud palaces are a heaven because they're beautiful and safe.

The only true afterlife in Shinto is Yomi. Hells and heavens are created places. Kakuriyo is literally the spaces inhabited by Kami, which is not truly heaven or hell, but simply outside the mortal frame. Ryukusa got a small glimpse into it when Kiku forced her mikoto upon her.
>>
>>39673088
>>39673263
We're not looking towards something that will make her into what she was. We're looking for something to allow her to heal her injuries. It's the difference between trying to make someone perfect and doing something that allows them to heal.
>>
>>39673274
>after all the easiest way would be simply to replace them.

Yeah, no. You don't let a kappa removes things from you.

Pretty interesting. So, any spiritual plane could be made into a heaven or a hell?
>>

In theory, though it takes a Greater Kami to manage such a thing.

There's actually a term for blink mystics in Shinto: ichiko, a blind go between for the kami and humans. You could significantly reduce her power by giving her sight back.

Keep in mind she had what was left of the god of insanity in her pocket for the longest time and had worked with the previous god of insanity.

Random thoughts, feel free to comment how far off-base I am.

Been wondering why Water divination sets the future in stone while Void divination doesn't. Since void is centered at the creation of all things, trying to see the future with it is trying to see the potential for existence: this will follow that, but only if this comes around in the first place. Since all is still the Void, the potential for change remains.

Water, however, is a river, flowing along the path of least resistance. To look along the river is to set its course, as few have the strength necessary to carve a new path out of the earth. (Stone analogies? Why not)

Of course, other Water dragonettes who use that are associated with rivers, while our MC is associated with the ocean. Perhaps her Water divination is different? Maybe something to do with the currents instead.

Either tomorrow or monday/tuesday.

Void is about the capacity of the mind to reach for conclusions intuitively - Water is the logical, controlled part of the mind. Water also fills a vessel and is shaped by it, so looking into the future using Water Eyes forces your vision into the shape the future holds. Void is more ephemeral, and can change with the future.

Prophecy and foresight are not sciences, and even strong fortunetellers may not have the answers correct.

I like that chance

She's already said its a non issue for her, and she's proven several times her lack of eyesight doesn't impare her ability to 'see', and when its such an integral part of her, its callous and selfish to think we can 'improve' her well being for forcing that on her.

She has no problem with her eyes and I don't know why you think there is one.

I think he was just trying to be nice to her.

We should probably take some effort to find out how she became blind. From the description of the scar it looks like it was not a couple of sword cuts, but something explosive happening in her face.

I'm not trying to "improve" her. I'm not saying she isn't fine with her state, either. I'm just wondering if she would take the chance if her eyesight could be recovered.

There is a world of difference between accepting having an injury and renouncing to heal it.

It's worth discussing, if Ryukusa can figure out a tactful way and time to bring it up. I'm more concerned about time and place rather than tactful. XS takes care of us pretty well in that regard since Ryukusa is tactful.

Well, we will have to discuss the kappa plan with Er Yin. We can ask her at that moment.

It'll have to be after our date with her and after we learn more about her, though.

I kinda see where you're coming from, but I think this is sort of like the whole being able to undo Kiku's curse all over again. Their two "handicaps" is a big part of why their relationship works and trying to make either decision without both of them present is highly arrogant.

But it is a concern based on love, so not entirely out of character either.

Ryukusa isn't particularly arrogant, but she does concern herself in her family's problems if she thinks she can help.

I find it very interesting that we're being offered opportunities to 'fix' each of out loved ones in turn or help them gain something they couldn't get ordinarily.
