Yuuki picks up one of the many balls of fur scattered along the deck of the ship.
"What do we do with these guys?"
"I'unno" Cody replies back as he leans against the railing. She drops the fluffball and shrugs.
"What do you think, Jack?" Cody leans over to get a good luck at you. You're currently at the helm of this ship as you give him a wicked smile.

You are Jack Albator, no wait, sorry.
"CAPTAIN Jack, Cody. That's my new title now." Which is definitely true.
"Huh, well I guess you are a Captain now, aren't you."
Yuuki speaks up, "But what about the ship? Aren't you going to give it back or park it somewhere so these guys can get home?"

Ah.
Ha ha.
"ARHARHARHARHARHARHAR" That's a good one! Give the ship you won fair and square back.
Cody nearly loses his cigarette out of his mouth from laughing, and the distraction almost causes you to send the ship out of control.
"Give it back, that's a good one Yuuki."

She continues to stare at you confused. You do admit, having the enemy still on your new ship might be a problem when they reform from their defeated state.

>Drop them off on the ground, if they reform and band into a small army, it'll be someone else's job but yours to deal with it.
>Dump them off the side, scattering them to where reforming is difficult for them
>Who cares? You have a ship now. Ball them up into a net and forget about them.
>Who cares? There's people waiting on you. Let them decide what to do.
>Other?

It's a common misconception that ship captains could and would do this without credentials that allowed them to, though in those cases they don't officiate marriages in the capacity of the vessel's captain.

That said, I would be greatly amused by the ensuing chaos if the girls ever heard of this.
>>
>>39631555
The only real choice is for the captain to marry his ship.
>>
>>39631555

Actually, while you're right in most cases, Japan allows captains to officiate marriage

>>39631416

Didn't the two girls still have to marry, since the priest was just a crazy guy disguised as an old man?

Yargh, you don't have the time to think about these things. These are things that are best left to the lackies.
"Y'know what, I'll let someone else handle it."
"Figures." Cody tosses his cig over the side of the ship.
"I think we should ask Charlotte, we found them in her country." Yuuki crosses her arms.
"Sounds like a fine idea." You slowly bank the ship to make a landing near the caravan. You need to check in with them before they get worried.
--
"WHAT WERE YOU THINKING!?"
The blonde-haired foxgirl holds onto one of your arms, while a chestnut-haired princess holds on to your other.
"Seriously!" She yells, "You JUMPED from one ship onto another in mid-air!"
"And you were on a ship surrounded by soldiers, what would you have done if they captured you!?"

"Lasses.." You sigh, "It's just boarding another vessel, it's fine."
This makes them look even more shocked.
"You've DONE THIS BEFORE!?"
"So often that you have a NAME for it!?"

Yargh.
"Charlotte! Aye need a question from yars!"
She walks over while keeping a bemused smile on her face from the two that are clinging to your appendages.
"Charlotte, We have soldiers-turned-balls in the hold of the ship. They're in yer country after all."
She sighs, "Tuile, go fetch your knights. Have them escort the prisoners to our castle. I think the caravan is going to head there to stay the night anyway."
"Okay but.." Tuile hesitates, "That depends on what Jack wants to do."
Yeah, what are you going to do now?

>Not going with the caravan, Now that all the civilians are offloaded, and you have a war-ready ship, you can take a team and go investigate that kingdom more thoroughly.
>Not going with them, you're going back to your own home with your own crew and catland can go to hell.
>Not going with them, there's something funny about all this that you need to spend time investigating.
>Go with them, you think you've done enough for one day.

"Get everyone packed up, I'm following ye to Gallete before I decide to go darting across the countryside."
"Ah- Good point." Charlotte nods. "We'll start to head out immediately. Where are you going to ride?"

"Ride, lass? Har!"
It feels good being able to say that.

- -

The castle is only an hour away from the caravan, fortunately. You rather the caravan safely make it to its destination than risk flying off somewhere and something happening to the big expedition filled with princesses and knights.

Now that you think about it, this entire tour has been one giant bullseye for anyone who really wanted to cause destruction and mayhem for the land. That is, if anyone realizes that princesses and nobility were traveling with you. Most people seem to really be buying the impoverished hobo look your caravan was putting on.

The only one that you think may have been exposed is Tuile, and even then she isn't exactly-
You hold that thought, remembering that she's standing just in front of the helm. She's enjoying the wind as it blows through her long hair.

>Say something to Tuile

Nah, you know your place. You're just going to sit back and let her enjoy the breeze.

It is very strong at this altitude, you're only a couple hundred feet above the caravan but it's still enough to put a good wind against your face. Tuile's beautiful hair wildly sways in the wind.
You find yourself sighing. You got a crew, you got a ship, and you have a beautiful princess.

By the captain's standards, that's all a man needs to enjoy life.

The afternoon sun is slowly starting to make its way below the horizon. Tuile seems to bathe in it, radiating an orange glow that reflects off of her dress. You can tell that she really enjoys this, or at least enjoys being taken somewhere that's not a bar.

You're just happy that she's found a way to keep herself safe. You're not sure what you would do if any of your crew were to get-

"HEY JACK!" A loud, harsh voice gets you out of your thoughts. You look to the port side to see Cody perched precariously on the edge of his Princesses' airship as it flies next to yours.

"Jack, something ain't right ahead. Mind if I get aboard and we go check it out?"
"Aye."

He hops on board as you break out of formation from the other Airship. Tuile and Cody find secure places on the ship as you slowly increase speed to outpace the Caravan.

- -

"Whar make you think sumthin' isn't right, Cody?"
"Charlotte says none of the patrols that are supposed to be out here are around. It's like everyone took off for the day."
Oh, that's never good.

The castle comes into sight just as you start to notice something else that's strange.
It's like EVERYONE took off for the day. The guards aren't standing in front of the gate, the merchants and traders aren't traveling the roads. The nearby town doesn't have any patrons mulling from store to store.

It's like a ghost town.

>Land and have a look.

That's not good, not good at all.
Or as Cody very aptly puts it:
"Well shit."

"Where is everyone!?"
"This is that disappearing village thing again, Tuile. Only now it seems they managed to hit a much larger target this time."

"Hold on, Cody. Don't jump to conclusions just yet. They may have saw the airship comin' and thought they were bein' invaded. Let's just take a pass around the castle and see if anythin' is up."

Cody and Tuile peer over the side as you increase speed around the castle. Taking a good loop around, you can clearly see the balconies and the buttresses that adorn the stone fortress.

Yet again, nothing seems to be standing on any of them.
It's completely empty.

"Jack! The training courtyard!" Tuile seems to see something.

There is something in the training courtyard, a blonde girl with cat ears sits crumpled in the center of one of the fields. She's wearing full-plate, and looks like she belongs there.

"Hold on, I'm settin' er down."

- -

The tiny, blonde figure doesn't even notice when your ship lands with a thump. She's still crumpled up in the center of the training field.
"Hey!" Cody yells to her, still no response.

You both cautiously approach her. It seems kind of strange that of all the people that would disappear, she would be the only one left.
That's strange, you seem to hear her talking to herself.
Is she.. crying?

Cody quickens his pace as he hears the sobbing. You follow right along behind him.

Hey, you know this girl.
"Odelle?" She's a knight from Gallete, but she usually works with her brother.
"Hey, little girl, what happened?" This is probably Cody's first time meeting her.

"They're gone.." She sobs once again.
"Gone, Lass? Speak up! What happened!?"
"They're gone, and it's all my fault!" She chokes out, before erupting into tears.

Damn. Every time I see this, I think "Man, I should really catch up on this quest so I might be able to drop in sometime," but, like all other quests I say that for, I promptly forget about it in favor of catching up on some other quest.

Such is the toil of an archivebro.
