You attempt to ask the bartender for another, but can only spout gibberish and drool.

The bartender does not respond to your request.

He is probably cutting you off. Or he can't hear you from the floor.

You gurgle a goodbye to Canis, who is still on the phone with you.

Canis gurgles a goodbye back before ending the call.

That is when Judi walked through the door. She looks quite saddened for some reason. She needs you!

You move to get up, but the sudden movement sloshes the content of your stomach, which causes the liquid to suddenly come pouring out of your mouth in a terrible pool of variously colored liquids.

You roll back onto your side and decided to stay like this for now. Maybe rest your eyes for a little too.

When you next open up your eyes, you are blinded by the light of the sun. “Fuck the sun.” You mumble to no one in particular. You take a glance around. You are in an inn room. Judicature must have dragged you up here last night.

“Awake?” You hear the familiar voice of Lilac.

Wait.

Lilac?

“Where's Judi?” You ask the blurry silhouette.

“Out and about on guild business.” The dwarf softly replies, “She wanted me to watch you.”

“You didn't have to.”

“I don't mind. Isn't the first time I've watched someone vomit into a bucket all morning. Probably won't be my last.”

“Well, thanks, then.” You roll on your back and stare up at the ceiling. “Did she say what 'guild business' entailed?”

“She mentioned talking with a superior.”

“Did she seem happy about it?”

“Seemed more nervous, but that could mean anything with her.”

“She'd spill spaghetti if it was good or bad, wouldn't she?”

“She spills more spaghetti than an Olive Garden.”

“She's a spaghetti factory.”

“Italy has proclaimed her spaghetti production a national treasure.”

“She... umm... nah, I'm out.” You shrug, still looking at the ceiling. “Besides, it's not fun to tease Judi when she isn't here.”

“Very true.” Lilac pauses for a couple of seconds, letting the silence settle before asking, “So, what happened last night?”

“I talked with Canis and got SUPER drunk.”

“No, I mean outside town.”

“Oh!” You peruse your memories, “Umm... Shit. What was I-? OH! Star-water! I have star-water!” You reach into your bag and pull the gel-like water from your bag. “Don't drink it, though. You'll explode and then drop down a level.”

“Did you-?”

“No, no. The other guy did!”

“Other guy?”

“Yeah, there was this level 90 out there in the wastes. He got the star-water before we did. Thought he might wreck us, which is why I called for backup. Turns out he thought it had something to do with making food with taste. So I told him to try some.”

“And then he exploded?”

“And then he exploded! Dropped a rare sword too. Turns out he forgot to equip it. Excalibur Replica or something like that.”

“Holy- That thing's a one in a million world drop.”

“Yeah, I had a feeling it'd be like that. I gave it back to him cause stealing it felt like a super dick move. I'm only a regular dick. Big difference.”

“Really? Because Judi thinks you've got all the super dick moves.” The dwarf laughs mischievously.

“Number one!” You hold out an index finger into the air. “Hell yeah!” You extend your hand for a high five, which Lilac reciprocates with her tiny dwarf hand. “Number two!” You not hold up two fingers. “Did she really say that?”

“Not in those words.”
>>
>>39570895
You continue to hold up fingers. “Number three! Hell yeah again!” You get another tiny high five. “Number four! What we do in bed is none of your business!”

“Judi seems to differ on that.”

“Number three!”

“Five.”

“Five! Where is the bucket?”

She points behind you to a bucket that you now realize had been next to you the entire time. You grab it and position yourself above it just in time to unleash another wave of vomit.

You let out a sigh of relief. “I think... I think I'm done.”

“That's good.” The small woman walks over to the bucket, picks it up, travels to the window, and throws the contents out the open window. She then places the bucket back next to you and travels back to the bed, sitting upon it.

You roll back onto your back. “How many times have you done that?”

“Twice.”

“Isn't that unsanitary?”

“Maybe, but what else can I do with a bucket full of vomit?”

“I don't know. Throw it into the river.”

“Oh yes, those plentiful desert-rivers. Just two steps away from everything.”

You let out a grumble of discontent. “Don't get snappy with a drunk man.”

“Hung over man.” She corrects you.

“That too.”

You here footsteps from the window. Who the hell enters a room from a window!? Oh no.

You lift your head to see Takeshi crouched down on the window sill. God damn it. You let your head fall back to the ground. “Hello, Takeshi.”

“I wish to speak to you.” The not-samurai says, “Alone.”

“Anything you want to say to me, you can say in front of Lilac.” You respond. You trust Lilac to keep whatever is bothering Takeshi a secret, and more importantly she can keep you from saying something stupid.

The assassin does not respond for quite a while. Then suddenly, “Okay.”

He sits seiza next to you, a look of absolute seriousness on his face. He remains quiet, staring at the wall opposite of him.

“And?” You ask.

“You asked me what I did not want to run away from.” He says. The seconds tick by. Takeshi has stopped talking.

“And!?” You are starting to get annoyed.

Out of the corner of your eye you notice Lilac holding up a hand, telling you to stop.

You breath in and out to calm down.

Takeshi speaks. “When I was recovering in the hospital, my father told me I was so strong and brave. I didn't believe him. He told me about Yasuke and how I'm just like him... brave and strong.” Takeshi changes his focus to his lap. “My father enjoyed samurai movies. He said it was because we were related to the great samurai Yasuke, but...” He trails off into silence before continuing. “I thought that maybe if I pretended to be like Yasuke, I'd actually become like him.”

You wait a couple seconds to make sure Takeshi was done speaking. “So... What were you in the hospital for?”

“I was shot.”

“You were... shot?”

“Yes.”

“As a high schooler? You, as a high schooler, were shot?”

“Yes.”

You glance over to Lilac. She shrugs, having nothing to offer.

You turn your attention back to Takeshi.

“Any reason you were shot?” You ask.

“Because I could not stop him.” He responds.

Your belief in this story is starting to wane. “Ah. Of course.”

“I was in the doorway because I was throwing away some paper. That's when he entered.”

Then he pulled out a gun and killed my sensei in cold blood. That's when I swore revenge. That is how you expect this story to finish. “Uhuh.”

“I didn't know what was happening till I looked down at his gun. I turned to run, but...”

But his ninja friends blocked my path! “But?”

“When I turned I accidentally pushed the barrel back with my arm.”

Causing the gun to shoot my sensei! “Then what?”

“If I had just grabbed the gun, I could have saved everyone, but I tried to run out the back door instead.”

“Everyone?”

“He shot me in the back. I hit the floor and I thought I was dead.” He pauses. “I guess he thought I was dead too.”

You look over to Lilac once more. She looks concerned, but can only offer you a shrug. It appears she really doesn't know if he's telling the truth or not.

“I was the only one in my class that survived.” Takeshi continued. “If I didn't run...”

Lilac speaks. “When was this?”

“Two years ago.”

Lilac instantly responds, “The Bartleby High shooting!” She appears to be very impressed by her ability to remember, but this feels like the wrong time for her to be proud of herself.
>>
Can I be a ranger and shoot people?
>>
>>39574210
“Wait, the one with that post office guy?” You ask.

“A mail recovery worker.” Takeshi responds. “And if I didn't run, there wouldn't have been a shooting.”

Lilac speaks up, “You can't blame yourself for that.”

You suddenly remember something, “Wait! I know who you are! You're the kid that said he tried to stop the shooter, but turned out he ran away like a bitch!” You knew this story. The kid made up this story about trying to stop the gunman and he was paraded around as a brave exemplar of the American youth, but then medical files were looked into. Shot in the back, no burns from a close muzzle, then finally a tearful apology from the kid. Didn't that kid commit suicide? Or was it attempted suicide?

Lilac looks at you with a horrified face, mouthing the words What is wrong with you!?

You are beginning to think you might be too autistic for this kind of conversation.

“Yes.” Takeshi finally responds, “That was me.” He lets out a sigh. “The camera feed switched at just the right time so it looked like I was disarming him. My dad saw it and he was so proud of me, and he never really cared about me like that until then.” Takeshi's voice gets choked up. “I just thought, now that we're here, and I'm like this...” He streteches out his arms to reference his faux-samurai clothing, “That it was like a sign. I though, God put me here so I could live up to my lie. So I could honor my ancestor. So I can finally redeem myself, but... But I keep messing everything up.”

You go back to looking at the ceiling. How the hell are you supposed to respond to something like this?

>>

>>
>>39574233
"I understand that this is hard to hear, but it is not your fault, either the shooting or the resulting attention. It's easy to get swept up in an event of that magnitude.

You take a moment to gather your thoughts. This isn't something you can just spout out like all the other times you've talked to Takeshi.

“Takeshi.” You begin, “This might be a bit hard for you to hear, but what happened that day really wasn't your fault, but when you lied about what happened, that WAS your fault. If you want to become the kind of man who would have stopped that gunman and spoken honestly about his faults, YOU need to become that man, not Yasuke, not you pretending to be Yasuke, not you pretending to be a samurai. Those yous are all lies, and you can't make those lies into the truth no matter what you do.”

“Okay.” Takeshi whispers before his face contorts. Even you can tell he is trying not to cry.

“We cannot overcome our faults by pretending they do not exist. We cannot overcome them by covering them up with a mask. We need to work at them. We need to fill our lives with the hard work to self improve. It is the only way we can do it. I did not build the BRO by lying to myself or believing I knew everything there was to know about engineering. I built it by admitting to myself that I knew absolutely nothing, and experimenting non-stop till I finally figured it out! You must now do the same! You need to go out there and strive to be the courageous man you want to be, not as the man who is already courageous, but as the coward who must improve! You must go out and become an honest man, not as the man of honesty, but as the liar who is just learning to speak the truth!”

He lifts his head, tears float on the brim of his eyelids, but he closes his eyes to banish them. He looks into your eyes, determination burning bright. “I understand!”
>>
>>39576194
“Are you ready to go out and improve yourself!?”

“Yes!” He shouts. He jumps to his feet and points to the window. “Look out world! Takeshi the Samurai is dead! Make way for Takeshi the Coward and the Liar! Takeshi the Ever Improving!”

“Now go out there and show the yourself you mean it!”

Without saying a word, Takeshi leaps through the window and begins to run through the streets at full tilt until his is out of sight.

“You know,” You say, “I was really hoping he'd stop jumping around like that.”

“Baby steps.” Lilac says.

You finally decide to stand up on your shaky legs.

“You okay?” The sorceress asks.

“Yeah.” You stretch your arms and back, feeling all the sores of improper sleeping. “Remind me never to sleep on the floor again.”

“I'll be sure to tell that to you next time you pass out.”

You walk over to the window and look out.

“Going to leave through the window too?” Lilac asks.

“No, just thinking of what to do next.”

“Okay. Well, if you're up, then my job here is done.” The dwarf hops off the bed and heads for the door.

“Actually.” You turn to Lilac. “We still haven't presented our airship blueprint to Grandma Spider.”

“Oh! That's right!” Lilac starts riffling through her bag, pulling out a scroll. She unrolls it to reveal the blueprint for the modular airship design. “Do you think she will like it?”

You shrug. “I have no idea. I'm still not even sure if I chose the right design to start off with!”

“Do you want to look at them again?”

“No, no. I'm sure modular was the best choice.”

“Why do you say that?”

“I flipped a coin in my head.”

“But... there were three choices.”

“It was a three sided coin.”

Lilac looks down at the blueprint, then back up to you. “Perhaps we should just deliver these before I start trying to design a three sided coin.”

“Isn't a three sided point impossible?”

She ponders a second. “Maybe. Maybe not.”

“Let's get moving.” You say pushing her out the door. “We don't need you wasting brain power on three sided coins.”

“What if the coin's faces were actually tiny monitors that randomized the faces every time it flips. I'd need to reinvent the accelerometer. And LEDs. And LED monitors. And then get them small enough to fit into a coin.”

The two of you are already walking the streets of Pueblo. Spider-people travel the wall-paths above your heads.

“Give up?” You asks the sorceress.

“I suppose I could make it from three halves of a coin each 120 degrees from one another. Like the Roman caltrops, except without the pointy bits. Whichever side lands up is the side chosen, but would that count as a coin?”

“No.” You quickly answer, continuing on towards the castle. “The coin would need to be coin shaped.”

She rubs her chin. “What if while in flight it acts like the caltrop coin, but once it hits the ground, it collapses into a two sided coin.”

“How would you do that?”
>>
>>39578193
“I don't know yet. Maybe you push a button before you toss it, that turns it into the caltrop mode. Then make it so it only requires the force of it falling from the average drop height of a tossed coin to put the sprung parts back into place... Yes! I think I can do it!”

“Airship first, coin shenanigans later.”

“Hm? Oh, right.”

The two of you are already walking through the main chamber of by the time she refocuses on the task at hand. However, now that you think about it, your brother's coin-travel technique would certainly add a certain dimension to coin shenanigans.

You speak up, “Can you make a coin that can travel extremely far when tossed?”

“I suppose so.” She responds.

You begin to scheme all the ways to exploit your brother's ability when you hear a familiar giant spider-lady speak.

“Hello, deary.” Grandma Spider greats you.

“Hello, Grandma Spider” You say, “I present to you the thing that will bring your people economic superiority!”

Lilac holds out the blueprint for the aging beast-woman.

Grandma Spider picks up the scroll with delicate hands. She looks over the plans with a delightful smile on her wrinkly face. “This is wonderful, deary. I just wish you could show me how it worked.”

“Oh, well, I'm sure we can explain it to you.” You say.

“Oh, I know you can deary, it's just that, an old lady like me has no head for such a thing.” He daintily hands the scroll back to the dwarf. She pats Lilac on the head before turning her attention back to you. “Ah, I know what you can do. Back before we built this wonderful city, some of my young boys put together a tiny town made of wood and sticks. Oh, it was like I was a little girl again, playing with a toy town. If you could make me a small air-ship to look at, I'm sure I'll be able to help you out.”

“But, we have the blueprints.” You respond.

“Oh, I knew deary, but I do so love those tiny toy models.”
>>
>>39578203
Lilac pulls on your sleeve. You look down to see he motion for the two of you to leave.

“I will be sure to look into that.” You respond to Grandma Spider before leaving along side Lilac.

Once the two of you are outside of earshot you ask, “So, what was up with that?”

“It looked like she was saying give me a working model before I consider this, but in a very polite and grandmotherly way.”

“Do we even have the tools to make a scale model that small?”

“We'll make it as small as we can,” Lilac replies, “Even if that ends up being big enough to hold a passenger or two.”

You sigh. “I suppose there's no other way, really.”

The two of you leave through the main hall of the Spider Spire. You glance over to the round table that had previously hosted the leaders of the <Morning Star>, and notice it empty. That is when your eyes glance over to an open door, through which you see Judicature. She is staring down at her feet, as if feeling guilty about something, or maybe just embarrassed.

[ ] Go eavesdrop on whatever conversation she is apart of.
[ ] Go up to her and interrupt whatever conversation she is in.
[ ] Continue walking. This scale model isn't going to build itself.

“Hold on a second.” You tell Lilac before heading straight for the open door. You enter into the room with a “What's everyone doing over here!?” A glance around reveals an office-looking room with books lining the walls and a beautiful lacquered desk sitting to your side.

A not-so-happy looking fox-tail enchanter named Montgomery sits behind it. You remember this man as being one of the two secondary officers for the <Morning Star>, only outranked by the leader himself. Montgomery the Lucky is what you remember Judicature calling him.

“Ah.” The fox-tail says with a not-so-sincere smile, “Speak of the devil.”

You hear a soft, “You shouldn't be here” from Judi, and it makes you wonder if what you did was even a good thing.

Montgomery interlaces the fingers of his hands before he continues speaking. “I've heard from a very reliable source,” He glances over to Judi, “That our fair Judicature here will not be reaching her designated station of Big Apple for a few weeks. Would you mind explaining this to me?”

“I believe you should ask her.” You respond.

Montgomery gives a not-so-pleasant grin. “It's funny that you bring something like that up, because I did ask her, and wouldn't you know it, her answer is very much not to my liking. You see, when I asked her why she was not yet at Big Apple, she informed me that she was on her way there. When I asked her why she hasn't left already she informed me that you are building something for Grandmother Spider, which I must admit, is very nice of you, but I did not see the importance of Judicature being here for it. That is when she informed me that you have a personal land-ship, and 'Ah!' I said, 'Certainly you are only waiting because he can transport you far faster than any horse!' So that is when I asked how long it would take her to get to Big Apple after the land-ship is ready to leave.” He pauses. “Do you know what she told me?”
>>
>>39579328
“A week, maybe two?” You respond.

The enchanter not-so-politely touches his nose. “Right on the nose, Mr. Ambrosis.” He takes a deep breath and then continues. “A week, maybe two, far longer than what would be feasible on horseback! So I ask her, what is it that would take them so long!? And she tells me that you intend to circumvent the Frontier to keep your Land-ship safe. A pragmatic, but understandable endeavor. My only problem is this: What does that have to do with this fine deputy?” He gets up from his chair and begins to pace behind his desk. “If I were a gambling man, which I am, I would bet that you two have some kind of relationship. So, here is my gamble: If she isn't in Big Apple by this time next week, I'm kicking her from the guild.”

Rage builds inside you. “What the hell is your problem!?”

“My problem?” He responds with a not-so-kind glare, “My problem is I've got an ever increasing lower class spending every gold piece they can on food with taste, whose price only seems to climb day in and day out. I've got more and more people resorting to PKing for cooking ingredients if not killing people over stupid level 91 rumors! I've got players eying extorting Lander farmers, Landers murdering other Landers of food with taste, and players implicated in Lander on Lander murders suddenly disappearing without ANYONE being able to tell me how he left town without anyone noticing! I have all of this situated in one city: Big Apple. Now I have Ms. Judicature here, who is supposed to be at Big Apple, helping out in any and every capacity possible, standing here, in front of me, not doing everything in her power to get to where she needs to be to assist in the ever growing Clusterfuck known as Big Apple!”

Choices for next time:
[ ] Punch Montgomery.
[ ] “Fine. I'll get her there.” Abandon airship research.
[ ] “What if we make a deal?” Bring <Morning Star> into airship prototyping project.
[ ] “You know what? Go ahead and ban her. I'll just add her into the <1st Panzer Division>.”
[ ] Other.

Wow, that last paragraph...
>I've got players extorting Lander farmers
>Landers murdering other Landers because of food with taste
>>
>>39579357
Here's my theory about the level 91 thing. The reason why people can get to 91 now is because the expansion has been implemented while we were stuck here. How long have we been stuck here? When was the cap supposed to be lifted in the real world? What's the conversion between IRL time and Database time?
>>
>>39579430
You have been stuck in the Database for a little less than a month.

The expansion was going to be available world wide a couple months after Japan.

Time conversion is 1 IRL hour = 12 Database hours. So, in other words, 1 IRL month = 1 Database year.
>>
>>39579464
huh, I thought it was less than a week after Japan. My mistake.
>>
>>39579480
It is possible I am mistaken on that front.

That is the one I am least sure about.
>>
>>39579357
If we get a working airship built, she will be there within a week. just don't tell him that we are nowhere near a working airship :^) if he presses, barter with him for assistance in exchange for helping him move troops when they are ready

One more Morning Star member stationed at the Big Apple probably won't do much to quell the unrest there. But establishing this city as a sustainable place to live will make sure that:

1.) The desert is a safe haven for players and Landers alike since the town will act as an outpost, so long as it is properly staffed. Players and Landers will be able to cross the desert easily without need of huge motorized vehicles (that are in short supply) or without risking their lives with ill-supplied desert sojourns.

2.) Will ensure that the Landers established here aren't forced to migrate over the harsh desert sands in a desperate bid to escape a failing city. Or alternatively have them live out the rest of their lives in a failing city that had an economy dependent solely on quest-driven players to buy blankets so they could make money (which no longer exists, by the way).

3.) Airships could potentially help mobilize lots of people across vast distances very quickly.

Other things we could possibly mention (but I'm not sure we should) is that an airship trade hub could be a valuable thing for Morning Star to have. Being able to move large amounts of goods or people around as well as commanding the skies is a pretty huge advantage.

Oh, one more thing.

The smut wasn't worth the wait.

The smut is terrible, and shouldn't be read by anyone.

It's not even that long.

Did I mention it's terrible? Like, really really bad?

Because it is exceptionally bad.

Here is the smut: http://pastebin.com/ERzSgt0z

I'm very sorry for everyone involved.

Both of these.

>"You realize that one more person is going to do much, whereas an airship, and more importantly TRADE, could do quite a lot more, yes?"

Promote her to co leader or you will never get to use airships or tanks
>>
>>39579747
The smut was good, face sitting is my fetish. Judi trying to dom was pretty funny.

Also, did we use protection or are we having a baby now? That can happen in Elder Tales right?

>That can happen in Elder Tales right?
Mamare has stated that it might become possible over time, but it would take a long, long time for that to happen. I believe it had been a year in the LN's story when he answered that, so currently it is impossible.

>guild kick her and ensure the severing of all ties to said first ever land tank
>just another day as a furry retard
