CRUNCH.
That is the sound a wagon makes after whistling through the air before impacting with the canopy of the forest below.
With these few wagons thrown off the side, your airship should move quite a bit faster.
You are Jack Albator, experienced pilot, excellent navigator, and now fugitive on the run from a very angry kingdom. You've come to Konditorei, a country you don't know much about, to rescue a hero and find out more about a problem involving disappearing villages. What you found instead was a madman and a royalty who are all a collection of jerks. Which isn't uncommon for royalty that you've been familiar with, but around here it's apparently an uncommon thing.
So you did what anyone does when a jerk presents themselves to you; you punched him in the face. That's how it works, right? Jerk shows up, fist goes into face. That's how you understand the world works, and you like it better that way.
Said jerk was apparently trying to distract you so he could trap your crew in some magic bubble. His army and airships, likely trying to pursue you, are now trapped inside of it while you get a nice headstart. To be sure to make the most of it, you dumped some of the wagons used in the diversion over the side.

So now it should be smooth sailing back to Biscotti. That is where you're going, right?

>Yes, back home. Let's see if they try to follow.
>No, I'm going to stick around and see what their next move is, don't lead the wolves back to where you sleep.
>No, Gallete. If they go anywhere it'll be to asshole cat land instead of home.
>Somewhere else?
>Goose chase through the countryside
>Other?

And again, sorry for saying "Soon" on my twitter and going away for two hours. I meant to post a message saying that I would post it when I got home but twitter dropped the message.
Ergh.

I'd be surprised if the nobility did NOT recognize other countries' nobility, so no sense in trying to deny it.

>No, Gallete. If they go anywhere it'll be to asshole cat land instead of home.

>>
So something I'd been wondering and don't recall seeing anyone ask...

About our little 'wedding.' Do Konditorei nobility possess the authority to marry others? Because I'm going to laugh if the presiding jackass bear man made it official by just being of the ruling family.

Your ship pulls a certain number of degrees across the horizon. Naturally, some of your crew is confused on what your intentions are.

"Jack?" Charlotte is naturally the first one to notice your course of action.
"Aye?"
"Why are we headed toward Gallete?"

That's a good question, but you already have a plan of attack in mind!
"Because Biscotti is expecting our Airship back. When Gallete sees our airship, they're goin' into full alert when they see us approaching yer castle. Besides, it's a bit closer than Biscotti from here and we have a good wind for it."

Yes, that's the reason. Has nothing at all to do with the fact that you don't want them knowing where the guy that punched their king lives.

"I don't like this idea, because then they know where I live." Charlotte crosses her arms.

"Aye, that's true Lass, but we should worry right now about stayin' afloat!"

A part of you does want their little ship to come after you, a boarding action with three heroes would be something to marvel at.
But then again, there are a lot of civilians on board. One errant cannon hit might cause the whole thing to go crashing to the ground.

"See anythin' Cody?!"
"Nothin' Yet!" He yells from his perch. "Maybe they got bored and left?"

Good, that buys you some time. What is the battle plan, Captain Jack?

>Approach the castle with a warning flag raised. Let Charlotte explain, and then retaliate with an army.
>Land the craft in the outskirts of Gallete and offload the civilians. Form a boarding party.

Okay, you know what needs to be done here.

"Pilot! When we get into Gallete, find a nice rolling hill to set us down near. We need to offload the civilians!"
"Uhh, But I'm a-"
"That's right, now go!"

- -

The last of the carts unload, and everyone stands dumbstruck on the hillside.
Cody addresses the confused masses.
"Everyone! We're gonna go out and make sure we're not being followed!"
"Aye!" You help the pilot off the ship as you get ready to man the controls. "We thinkin' they're gonna be followin' us! But they won't expect a ship full o' heroes when they catch up to us! Until then, everyone hide the loot and keep yerselves scarce!"

That seems to be as much of a pep talk as you've ever given. Everyone scrambles to follow orders and hide distinguishing features like the white tarps over the wagons or the colorful linens.

Yuuki, Cody, and You all gear up to take to the skies and take this on head-first. You suddenly remember that gigantic cannon you got from Lyn in the cargo hold. You think this will be of value in a sky battle.

Which is when Tuile decides to approach you.
"Jack.." She has her regular clothes on once again. "I think I should come with you."

>"Lass, yer not a hero. Stay here and keep everyone safe in case we DO fail."

"Lass, I understand ye want to help. And I appreciate yer enthusiasm for it."
Her face lights up, her tail starts wagging uncontrollably.

You have to admit, and you don't admit this often about anything, but she can be really cute sometimes.
Your hand runs through her hair and over her ears.
"But-!" Her tail sags, "Yer not a hero, Lass. And we're gonna be very high above the ground. What we need isn't help in the sky, our caravan is going to be down here unprotected. N' we need someone to keep it safe. Can I count on you fer that?"

Her tail starts wagging again, you resist the urge to grab it when time is running short.
"Aye aye, Captain!"
"That's the spirit, Lass." You smile, "Now get out there."

Wow, it's beginning to feel like you have an actual crew. You're not sure how to feel about that, well except-
"It's about damn time."

- -

A collection of bear-like men in long, flowing coats stand on the deck of a much sleeker looking vessel.

"Captain." One of them says to an older gentleman in a well-cut blue suit. "We've lost sight of our Liege's ship. They must not have breached the barrier."
"Continue without them." The older gentleman commands. "We're still hot on the trail, and they're so close I can almost taste it."

He puts a telescope up to his eye. Maybe he was expecting to see your ship off in the distance.

What he sees instead, is the business end of a ship. One that's heading straight for him.
After that is a bit of a blur for that captain. His pilot manages to bank his ship to evade the dangerous game of chicken.

It doesn't help the state of his crew. He opens his eyes to see all of the heavy guns on deck frozen with chunks of ice stuck inside of their barrels. Half of the crew members turned into animal balls, and a strange trio of silhouettes above his ship's deck.

"Avast!" one of those silhouettes shouts, "Dump yer goods on deck and surrender thy vessel!"

This is it.
You are in your element.

This feels amazing.

Yuuki and Cody don't quite understand the rules of boarding. That's okay, they can follow along behind you.

You know in any good raid that starts out on the deck that the edges of the ship are the most confused, because they don't have line of sight to the action happening right behind them. You lead your group down the right edge of the ship.

"REGROUP! REGROUP!" One of the ornately dressed men yells frantically as a blur cuts down half of his firing lines. Tiny fuzz balls scatter along the deck as the remaining lines scramble to compensate.

Yuuki and Cody, both struggling to maintain the pace while firing off their blue and green projectiles, find themselves unable to traverse the ship as swiftly as you're able to.

"Cody!" You yell as you slash some scallywag who thought he could get the drop on you. "We gonna do a water + wind + ice combo right at the helm!"

He looks at you like you're insane. You only smile at him with a big toothy grin.

"Trust me on this one."

- -

The captain struggles to right himself. He has good reason to struggle. Most of his crew was wiped out in a devastating surprise attack.
"ALL HANDS REPORT IN" He bellows from his mustache.

Except, to his dismay, no response. He's certain the problem should have been dealt with by now.
"ALL HANDS- REPORT"
That's when he sees it.

His eyes open just in time to notice a massive vortex of extremely cold ice-water flooding straight for him!
He grabs for the wheel that the pilot has long since abandoned, but it's too late. The massive current crashes into him. Immediately, the searing cold breaks through his meager defenses. Leaving only a tiny, damp puffball in his place.

"What do we do with them all?" Yuuki picks up a dampened puffball, wringing some of the water out of it before dropping it back in its place.
"I'unno." You say, rather aptly.

The whirling vortex didn't stop at the helm. With some creative use of your water magic, you were able to sweep the entire deck and finish off whoever was left standing. You're not sure if any puffballs went over the edge, but you don't particularly care at this point.

Frankly, they knew what they were getting into by your standards.

"Jack, Look!" Cody, somehow finding a telescope from somewhere, hands it to you.
Off in the distance, you can see the outline of something faint against the blue sky.

It's another airship. One identical to this one. You think you just found which ship the king was on.

Speaking of which, they seem to have noticed the little skirmish that had just taken place. The bow of their ship slowly moves toward the starboard side as they attempt to turn away from the ship you're on.
