When we last left our princess she had been betrayed by her half brother, likely killing your parents, and certainly framing you as an imposter princess, everyone assuming the real princess died as well, instead of the true heir to the throne which he has taken.

Exiled, you turn to the only people who believe you to be the true princess, the group of bandits who kidnapped you, after killing their leader, showing your skill, and smitten by your charm, you assume leadership of the group of bandits, adding Bandit Queen to your list of titles.

With just a few months you have converted a fort inside an abandoned forest into a castle, gained a ranger trainer by the name Treesap, and have raided your former home country of Steelgate several times, even kidnapping a Duke and ransoming him off at the cost of one of your rangers.

Your army continues to grow as you make friends, though not allies, with the druids and Ents of the forest as well. Lastly you have started a protection racket with several Steelgate villages to keep sustainable food coming in.

You are Princess Luroma of Steelgate, and Bandit Queen.

>>Challenge a Bandit Lord to a duel for his servitude

(FYI for those new to the quest, we're going by rules of three, first three agreed choices, rolls, etc.)

If you're ever going to have the rest of the bandit lords take you seriously your going to need one of them already under you. If you can challenge one to a duel and win his servitude you can get a step up in that respect. But which of the six bandit lords should we challenge?

>Shilvile, the handsome rapier fighter
>Grungrin, The mace wielding maniac
>Lungrin, the short&shield bashing brother of Grungrin
>Whestle, weaselly whip slasher
>Lasandris, mistress of the poison dagger

Of course! Might as well have the first one to serve under you be at least worth looking at. You invite him to meet at a neutral location to discuss business. Fortunately you meet him, and to your surprise he has more then just rapiers but several kinds of blades on him when he arrives.

"So you must be the new bandit queen that's been causing all the forest to start talking. Is it true you're actually a princess? It would certainly explain the Tiara and the fancy get up...and the purebred horse."

>"I am Princess Lumora of Steelgate, and you will address me as such."
>*Pull out Royal Rapier and Dagger* "Is this proof enough for you?"

Slightly above average success

Even with all your royal training you had never actually faced off against a proper opponent before, not like this at least. He draws his blade and goes for the kill with every strike, it keeps you on the defensive the entire time, sure he leaves himself open for attacks but you don't have the time to make an attack before the next one. Hopefully you can wear him down first before he wears you down first.

Great success!

He eventually tires himself out with his barrage. He would've killed anyone who didn't know how to parry or deflect by now, fortunately you do. You stab him in the shoulder of his sword hand, drawing blood, before dashing out of his range back into a defensive stance. He's angry now. He switches hands, his strikes are clumsy now with his off hand but he seems to have gained his second wind.

(Another round, another good success should do it.)

So this would be about personal safety as much as following the orders of their Bandit Princess, making them well motivated.

The blood seem to push out the wood of the mask as if filling it with dire purpose. The man turns to you now. The blood chant gets louder, as soon as he takes another step closer to you you order another volley of arrows. The blood that leaks from his woods just keeps draining into the mask.

"Again!" you yell and another volley is thrown, Shilvile even tosses his own arrows in. You stand firm as he continues to get filled with more and more arrows. The ones the pierce the mask causes blood to spurt from it.

"AGAIN!" You shout, he's only a few from you now.

One final arrow flies and pierces the mask dead center between the eyes. An explosion of blood follows leaving nothing but a bloody skeleton and some very startled horses behind.

You and Shilvile go investigate the cabin. Inside you see the wall is line with skulls and bones of former victims, a cauldron of blood boils in fire the fireplace...there is a regular chest in the corner though...appears to be unlocked.

Should we try to learn magic from the druids, the witches (where we may need to attend to the NEET dragon's..."needs"), or hire a mage tutor?

>Keep a close eye on the bodies till the druids arrive

Depending on how intelligent the dragon is, we can even turn him into an ally and future guardian of our kingdom. But first we fix this blood magic shit.
>>
>>39520658
All these sound like a valid Idea
1.learn from druid if possible
2.ask druids about the dragon and learn from it if possible
3.Mages could be hard to come by but yeah, it could be?
I honestly prefer option 1And 2. Taking an outsider, especially a willing wizard, sounds suspicious, and hold on until we are sufficiently strong enough so that a single mage don't fuck us up.
>>
>>39520694
>ask druids about the dragon and learn from it if possible
We did ask the druids about the Green Dragon in the last thread.
The Witches Coven that worships the Green as a god, and serves the Dragon in all things (implied that they also serve it sexually), and the Dragon doesn't really do much and sits around in his lair on his hoard all day. The druids commented that he's the laziest dragon they've ever heard of.

My guess is he's a NEET Dragon who won't bother us as long as we respect his authority and give tribute every once in a while.
>>
>>39520583
(Yes you can learn archery, your Ranger Trainer Treesap could do so.)

>Keep a close eye on the bodies till the druids arrive

It takes a few hours but the druids finally arrive.

"I came as soon as I heard." Says the elder of the group. "Sounds like a malevolent spirit if I have ever heard one."

"Good thing you came." Shilvile reports."Right before you arrived I couldn't tell if the blood was still moving or simply congealing."

"I'm surprised you know what congealing means." You say nonchalantly.

"Well the chest doesn't seem to be tainted by any foulness...this is all very strange though...it's certainly blood magic of some description but...I can figure it's orgin. It's not demonic, but it's not simple spell casting either...it's as if the emotional anguish of the dead spilled from this blood is feeding it's own bloodlust in a terrible emotional cycle."

"The bodies won't burn I'm afraid...they will need to be buried. The Shack will need to be broken down and buried as well to give the bones inside rest as well."

>Open chest
>Give chest to druids
>Bury everything that needs to be buried

Witches could be useful if we can train/recruit them, and we don't have to go hostile against the dragon (being on friendly terms with it would be a good idea)
Don't druids have their magic stuff?
Witches I don't know what magic they can pull out, but imagine the possibilities of being in good terms with a Powerful magical creature!
We pay tributes and it provides us with power and knowledge!
>>

Witches and Dragon should be left for later, we hardly have the right to be negotiating with them. For now let's focus on consolidating Bandit Lords.
>>
>>39520760
>>Bury everything that needs to be buried

Let's get to it. We'll do something more awesome later, but this was one of those 'needed' ugly jobs.
>>
>>39520760
>Open chest
>Bury everything that needs to be buried
>Thank the druid for his time; ask if maybe the Ents or Witches would know more about the spirit and how to make sure it's completely gone.
Look, malevolent blood spirits are a threat and bad news to EVERYONE in the forest, no exception.
And, no offence to the undead, but the dead generally cannot give tribute, which should get the dragon to care a little.
>>
>>39520782
Those were future plans though. I agree with you, we might as well Start growing our powers from where we can in our possible scale.
>>39520829

Holy shit guys, just drop the dragon. He's not going to give a shit about anything we do right now because we're small fry. He's end-game material. We should stick with doing human things for now.
>>
>>39520852
>endgame material
well duh? Did you miss the 'we should power up in our own possible fields first' part?
Of course we aren't much of a for e right now. We should at least get those bandit lords and build up some shit to be at least effective.
Since they are there we do need to plan for them later, even if it's a WAAAAAAAAY distant future.
>>
>>39520884
>We should at least get those bandit lords
I absolutely agree, but a lot of people were actually getting into the witch/dragon discussion when we still have the blood magic mess and 5 more Bandit Lords to conquer. It'd be more constructive to discuss which Bandit Lord we'll Duel/Kill/Seduce/Buyout next.
>>
>>39520900
>but a lot of people were actually getting into the witch/dragon discussion when we still have the blood magic mess
Yes, because the witches are one of 3 magical groups, and we already called on the druids to deal with the blood magic spirit.
The druid already said that he's got no idea how it came about or how to make sure it's really gone, that's why we've been talking about getting the Ents and Witches involved in making sure that the blood spirit is really gone.
>>
>Bury everything that needs to be buried

You order your men to dismantle the shack, and bury the corpses along with it. The druids insist in helping despite you saying they have done enough with thanks. After the deed is done, the druids commune with the forest and find no more malevolent presence present, you say your goodbyes and hope to meet again under better circumstances.

When you get back to your castle Treesap informs you that Lasandris, Mistress of the poison dagger has killed off Whestle, the weaselly whip lasher and absorbed his crew and wealth. Afterwards you find out what was in that chest...a bunch of pots and pans.

I vote for seducing Lasandris, since we can't risk the poison, or killing Whestle, since his followers probably aren't very loyal to a weasel.

>>
>>39520929

guys, that woman's our priority target. We cannot have anyone powerful as ours.

>train untraied bandits in swordsmanship and bowyery on a ratio of 2:1.
after that, prepare to meet the dagger lady.

>>39520900

Those three doesn't look that good. Duel is the way to go, unless you try to pull seduce on female since you know, you can't be harraced by a female if you're a female! Also because poison daggers sounds baaaad. Real bad. Mundane wounds we could get around, but poison?
Also inb4 later in the quest these bandit lords becone civil and diciplined commanders/council
>>39520926
>that's why we've been talking about getting the Ents and Witches involved in making sure that the blood spirit is really gone.
I feel like that's a midgame quest when we leave these hings for the souls to thrive and we ask the witches for assistance when we are better in terms of influence.

Apparently I have dirt poor reading comprehension. I knew Whestle was a weakling.
>>
>>39520929
>Seduce a Bandit Lord
Lasandris
>>
>>39520998
I don't think Lasandris is gonna be down for it, to be honest. She seems to have aspirations that directly and inevitably conflict with our own.
>>
So Lasandris absorbed Whestle's group, Grungin and Lungrin are presumably allied, we should probably kill/duel Haroldnarl. I doubt seduction or money works on an angry dwarf.
>>
>>39521013
Also we have to make our move fast because I get the feeling Lasandris is the ambitious type and the Grin brothers won't sit by and watch others get accumulate strength.
Alternatively, we can play defensively. We already have a castle so if we stock up on food we can probably last a siege.
>>
>>39521013
That's what I'm thinking. Chances are we're gonna run into Lassie on the way to the bash brothers. Hell, I could see them both trying to take us all on.
>>
>>39521013
We should go and at least diplomance Haroldnarl.
>>
Okay, so in general, we've kinda agreed- we need to make a play for Haroldnarl? (After getting some second opinions.)
>>
>>39520929
Can we send a Ranger to scout Lasandris's numbers and fortifications? I'd like to know if we can fight them head-on. We do have Basic Military Tactics after all.
>>
>>39521077
Sounds about right
>>
>>39521058
Dude, he's an "angry dwarf with a war axe to grind". He's not the type that listens to reason. He's the stubborn type that insists he'll never lose no matter what and end up dying to superior numbers. We gotta kill the guy. A duel would probably work since he probably underestimates us.
>>
>>39521013

Haroldnarl would probably respect strength. We might be able to use him.
>>
>>39521078
Honestly? I kinda don't want to risk it. Lasandris seems all about that stealth and subterfuge life, I feel like she could counter spy real easy.
>>
>>39521098
Information is power in war, we gotta make a bid for it at the very least. For all we know she could be gearing up to raid us.
>>
>>39521110
Duly noted, and the concern is fair, but I'd just like to formally log my unease due to potential backlash.
>>
>>39521116
I agree, but I think it's well worth the risk.
>>
>>39521118
Well, I suppose it's a matter of simply either causing it to happen or let it happen on its own time. Either way, it's happening and the only difference is how prepared we are.

I'll support your suggestion made in >>39521078

...Kinda felt like an actual war room discussion there. I like it.
>>
So we seem to be at a crossroads between

>Seduce Lasandris

>>39520964

>Spy on Lasandris

>Make a play at Haroldnarl
>>
The way i see things, we're headed into a 3 way standoff. 2 consolidated bandit groups with us having 1 or 2 depending on what happens next.

So a classic 3 way where any silly actions like attacking one party might allow the 3rd to swoop in and claim all.

We should first gather the last remaining bandit lord then look to recruit either remaining faction to join us. Then we can either issue terms to the last group on pain of annihilation for them to join us.
>>
>>39521160
The consensus is now
>Spy on Lasandris
>Make a play at Haroldnarl - With Advice from Shilvile on whether we should duel him or what.

>>39521160

"Well other then the fact that with you on my side the other bandit lords will join me easily meaning I will be able to control all the banditry in the forest and steel gate. Meaning not only I will be making more money on the whole, but so will you."

>>

(Eh,why not?)

"Hmm...well it would be nice to have allies beside myself and me boys...tell you what. Give me 1000 gold upfront, and let me keep my fort, and the gold already in it, MINE. Understood?"

"Understood, agreed!" Say Shilvile. "Trust me, take the deal, before he's less generous." He whispers to you.

With that another bandit lord is under your control.

>lose 1000 gold (Total 3,400)
>Gain 1 Bandit Lord
>Can now train Craftsman
>Gain 20 Fighters (Total 45)
>>

Newgate?

Steelholme?

Steelvale?

Fuck-My-Half-Brother-ia?
