Salamence wheeled downward from the sky towards your destination, the others following closely behind on their Pidgeots. As you got closer to the ground, you started to get a better look at what was going on. Further to the east the landscape had started to become black and lifeless, grass wilting and trees crumbling to dust. You saw many wild monsters fleeing from the slowly advancing aura of death.

At the center of the front though, you spotted Xerneas standing stalwart against the encroachment, his own aura spreading out further causing grass and flowers to spring up around him and attempt to counteract the effects. Unfortunately, this simply led to a standstill as any new growth was quickly shriveled, though Yveltal didn’t seem to be able to advance further. However, you also didn’t see him anywhere nearby; though it’s possible he was still hiding in the clouds above.

Soon, you set yourselves down behind Xerneas, moving over to him. He cuts a quick glance back to you, before returning his focus to maintaining the line.
“I see you have returned,” he call outs to you, “Are you prepared?”

“Yes, we’re ready to help stop Yveltal,” you reply, helping your group down from their rides, “We also found some others who should be along shortly.”

“Very well then,” Xerneas nods, “Right now I’m holding of his advance as best as I can, though with things as they are neither of us can easily attack the other. I need someone to go in and draw him out. That will cause him to condense is aura, allowing us to fight more directly.”

“Wait,” Lisa says, “You want us to walk into that giant zone of death?”

“Not unaided,” Xerneas huffs, flicking its horns backwards and causing a few of the crystals on them to fling towards your party, “These stones will allow me to extend my protection to you, letting you enter the field unabated. I shall give more to your friends when they arrive, but for now you must hurry. Splitting my strength in such a way will not let me maintain this balance now.”

“Got it,” you nod, “Is everyone ready?”

“Uh, maybe I should stay behind,” Thomas says, “While I really want to see Yveltal, I don’t know how much use I’d be in there.”

“Alright,” you nod, “You can watch the Pidgeot for us and explain the situation to Keldeo when he gets here. Everyone else, grab a stone.”

You spend about a minute sorting out the stones. First, you make sure you and all of your monsters have one. You give one to Lisa as well, who also takes one for Pidgeotto, though decides to have Furret stay behind. Jenna gets one as well and gives one to Sylveon, keeping Jirachi and her two Spritzee close to her so they won’t need one. There’s one more left in the pile, which Celebi takes for herself, though you’re uncertain if she really requires one.

You hop on Salamence one again, as Lucario tentatively reaches a hand into the field. The darkness almost seems to bend around it, and stepping in he has a nicely sized bubble of protection around him.

"You guys look on the ground," you say, "I'll keep an eye out from above."

"Got it," Lisa nods, drawing her bow and following after Lucario.

You take to the air a few moments later, Salamence flapping his wings to lift you into the area. The sky above is still covered in dark clouds, making it rather difficult to see. Using your aura sight doesn't help much, as it simply stops once it reaches the edge of your bubble.

Glancing down at your friends, you spot a group of trees, flowers, and other plants springing up around Celebi, though they usually wilt in short order. She seems to give it up after a few tries, likely not wanting to use up her energy on restoring a forest that won't grow.

Glancing back towards Xerneas, you also spot a large spray of water rushing along a river in the distance. So that's how Keldeo was getting here.

With your friends accounted for, you start your search in full.

You decide to start climbing up further towards the clouds, though as you approach you find the strange red lightning starts flashing closer with more frequency. Salamence does his best to avoid the bolts, but eventually it becomes too intense and you're forced to turn back.

As you head back down however, you notice that your friends seem to have gotten surrounded by something. You can't quite tell what they are, but they're small and grey. You'd suspect they were monsters, although you were wondering how they were surviving in the aura of death if that was the case.

Either way, you needed to figure out what to do

You signal Salamence to swoop down, and he happily obliges, raining down a gout of flame into the crowd of creatures, catching many of them in the blast, though several more float out of the way, with a few rising up towards you.

Thanks to this you get a better look at them. They definitely seem to be monsters, though with strange grey cloaks, skulls for faces, and glowing red eyes. As they get closer to your bubble, a quick glance with aura sight reveals that they lack an aura, meaning these were ghosts.

You weren't quite sure how they were manifesting like this, but you didn't have time to worry about it now. Drawing your ghost sword, you start slashing those that get closer, while Salamence wheels about and shoots fire at the ones who hang back lobbing inky orbs towards you.

As you pass over your friends again, you see they're doing fairly well. Froakie is using his bubbles to help give the party cover and control the large crowds, while Lisa is striking them down easily with some of the new arrows she made. Lucario is having the most difficulty, his aura strikes and punches having little effect, though he seems to have some success striking with the metal spikes on his hands.

Lisa's Pidgeotto is doing a good job of distracting some of the other ghosts, while Sylveon and Gardevoir fire off blasts of pink light to help thin the herd. Jirachi is assiting the others by projecting the occasional shield or barrier, while Celebi tries to slow down the advance with vines, though with little success.

Looking on, you also spot Keldeo and his team charging through the crowd towards your friends, easily cutting down all of the ghosts that get in their way. Scyther nimbly leaps from foe to foe crossing them with his blades, while Skarmory wheels about in the sky taking out those trying to keep their distance and shoot. Bisharp seems to have adopted a fighting style similar to yours, and is using his blade to good effect. Haxorous leads the charge alongside Keldeo, the two of them easily powering through the defensive walls the ghosts attempt to make.

While you and your friends were doing well, you still weren't getting any closer to getting Yveltal's attention. You needed to figure out something to do in order to put a stop to this.

Deciding that your friends have things in hand, you guide Salamence upwards once more. A few of the ghosts try to pursue, but you easily outpace them.

The lightning builds in intensity as you approach once again, reaffirming that this was indeed where Yveltal was. You encourage Salamence to power through, the dragon roaring as he beats his wings, climbing higher into the clouds. Stray bolts strike against him, though he manages to power through.

>Salamence HP 60/70

As you burst through the cloud layer, you arrive at a seemly calm point within the vortex, and in the center, you spot a massive red and black bird of prey, lazily drifting in a small circle. It's eyes glare at you as you approach, and it lets out an ear piercing cry a few moments later.

It lets out a few blasts of darkness which roil towards you, though Salamence is quick to wheel out of the way. Sensing that he'll have to try a bit harder, Yveltal begins gliding over towards you.

You spur Salamence downward, glancing back to make sure Yveltal was still following you. Fortunately, it was still on your tail, though it also seemed to be gaining.

Salamence starts into a steep dive, though Yveltal follows suit, one of its wings starting to glow with energy. As it nears your bubble, you notice the edge starting to crackle due to the proximity, the wing sliding into the field and towards you. You draw out honedge and use it to block the wing, and while it doesn't seem to cut, it does buy you enough time to tell Salamence to pull back up, since you had almost reached the ground. He narrowly slips under the wing and levels out, Yveltal looping back upwards a few moments later.

As you distance yourselves, you notice the storm above seems to be growing smaller, the darkness receding to the point where Yveltal was. The edge between your bubble and the surrounding air is now almost imperceptible, as the aura of death seems to be receding as well.

Flying back to your party, you notice the ghosts seem to be gone, though the ground is now littered will skulls of various shapes and sizes. A quick glance with your aura sight confirms that these are the ghosts, though they aren't moving any longer.

You set Salamence down next to your friends, who seem to still be doing alright despite the heavy fighting.

As you glance back towards Yveltal, he seems to have perched upon a small rocky bluff, overlooking you all. A few moments later, Xerneas abruptly bounds past you, greenery spreading behind it. It pauses next to the cliff, cutting a long glance to its adversary.

You wait a moment to see what happens, and what follows is two beams of energy being fired by both of them, colliding in the air and canceling each-other out in a large blast. They repeat this many times, though soon Yveltal dives down, assailing Xerneas with its talons as the lifebringer defends itself with its horns. However, neither seems to have gained any significant advantage, you needed to do something in order to turn the tide.

"Celebi," you call out to the small pixie who was preoccupied with encouraging the new growths of flowers, "Do you think you could do something to help Xerneas?"

The tiny creature nods, pointing to a bare patch of earth and causing new plant-life to spring forth. Smiling before floating over to you.

"No, I meant can you do something to help Xerneas stop Yveltal?"

Celebi puffs out its cheeks, thinking intently for a moment before clapping its hands. It then flies up, glowing with a bright light before suddenly vanishing.

"Did Celebi just...leave?" Lisa asks, worry clear in her voice.

"She's probably going to get help," Jirachi says, "She should be back any second now."

Several seconds pass without any sign of Celebi.

"Well then, I guess it's up to us," Keldeo says, "We'll have to go in and stop it ourselves."

"I don't know if that will work," you say, "I got close to Yveltal earlier, and I don't think these crystals are enough to protect us at that distance."

"Well, we need to do something," Jenna says, unsure of how else to contribute.

"Jirachi, do you have any ideas where Celebi might have went?" you ask.

Jirachi pauses, thinking for a moment, "Getting help from some time probably, but she should have been back by now."

"Maybe it was just taking her a while to convince whoever it was?" Lisa suggests.

"Doesn't matter," Jirachi shakes her head, "She could have come back in a few seconds anyway."

"Well, in that case, do you have any other ideas?"

"Hmm..." Jirachi ponders while floating upwards, "If we gave all the stones to someone, it might protect them enough to get close. Then they could help weaken Yveltal."

It sounded risky, but it might be the best chance you had.

"Alright, here's what we'll do," you say, "I'll go in with Salamence. The Aura should be big enough to protect both of us."

"Are you sure you wouldn't rather have me go in?" Keldeo offers, "I am a sword of justice after all."

"Sorry," you say, "We've still got a score to settle. You all try and support us from a distance as best you can, and we'll close in."

With that settled, you set your plan into potion, loading you and Salamence up with the crystals while the others move to more favorable ground to give you help from afar. As you're saddling up, Bisharp hands you his ghost sword as well, giving a salute as well. You thank him for it, and place the sheathe next to your Honedge. Having a second sword would probably come in handy.

With all your preparations complete, Salamence took flight towards Yveltal, and you drew your swords and readied yourself. The others were on the ridge nearby, ready to help as best they could. Keldeo and Frogadier start spraying water at him to distract from your charge, while Lisa peppers it with a few arrows as well. It fires off a blast of darkness in their direction, though Gardevoir is ready and intercepts it with a protective barrier.

This gives you plenty of opportunity to close the distance.

Salamence rushes in low to the ground, peppering Yveltal with dragonfire. He wheels out of the way of most of it, though Xerneas takes the opportunity to blast him with a brilliant ray from his horns.

"Alright," you nod, focusing the energy on the move you've only done a few times before. You close your eyes, holding the swords together. There's a bright flash of light that causes you to open them, and when you look again the swords are still there, though their scarves seem to have gotten tangled. You also notice that the sheathes at your waist seem to have fused as well.

again. one to many.

You nod, focusing on the ability once more. This time, your duplicate appears behind you, though rather than being a mirror image of you and following your movements, it doesn't seem to be tracking them at all. You also notice that Bisharp's blade is now missing, instead being held in your double's hand.

"We were two," the other you says, "Now are one. Though can still be many."

With that, it leaps off of Salamence as you make your next pass, jumping over onto Yveltal's wing, gripping tightly. It makes the attempt to hack into it with it's sword, but it doesn't seem to be doing much other than causing Yveltal some discomfort. It is enough opportunity for the rest of you to land some powerful attacks though. Yveltal starts rising up further into the sky, so you move Salamence to try and intercept.

He flings your doppleganger to the side, though the blade itself reappears in your hand afterwards.

"Ceil," you hear a voice in your head say, "It's Xerneas, I'm having Jirachi link our minds. I he's weak enough now for a final blow."

"Great, so go ahead and do it already," you reply.

"It's not that simple," he replies, "So far your attacks haven't been injuring him, just delaying him. Currently, he only views me as a threat. Any attacks I try to make he'll counter. The solution is for me to link all of the auras present, including mine, to yours. That will give you enough power. Then, all you need to do is launch a wave-guided sphere of aura towards him while I create a diversion."

"But I've never been able to do a ranged aura attack before!" you reply, "I've never learned it!"

With those last words, you spot Xerneas start glowing brightly below you, matching Yveltal in brilliance. However, whereas Yveltal seems to be preparing an attack, you feel the energy starting to course into you. It continues to build, and you're starting to see with your aura sight even though you aren't closing your eyes. Out of curiosity, you try focusing, and it's then that you start to understand, as things are much clearer now. The fuzz you've been seeing in the air is alive in some way, and it's that connection that allows you to see things with aura at all. Since the aura transfers itself along the air, allowing you to see it.

Which means that to give your aura strike range, you simply need to use your aura to communicate with the fuzz in it's path, then guide the energy along towards its target.

With that in mind, you open your eyes and prepare yourself for Xerneas to make a diversion, which happens just a few moments later, the creature starting to bound towards Yveltal as the latter fires off beams of destructive energy.

You start focusing, building the energy for your aura strikes up in your hands. It's much stronger than before, and you can feel everyone's auras in there as well. Lisa, Jenna, Lucario, Greninja, Salamence, Pidgeotto, Sylveon, Spritzee, Gardevoir, Keldeo, Scyther, Bisharp, Haxorous, Skarmory, Jirachi, even Thomas, Furret, and the three Pidgeot. They're all adding their power to yours.

With a final cry, you fling the sphere towards Yveltal, the brilliant blue orb sailing true. As it gets closer, the bird manages to notice it, quickly flapping its wings and trying to escape, but it's too late. You guide the attack along the course, causing it to curve around in mid-air, following Yveltal's every movement, before finally striking and exploding in a blast of energy, with Yveltal spiraling downward afterwards.

You have Salamence fly down to where Yveltal crashed, gazing at it with your aura sight. It's death aura seems to be gone, allowing you to look at it's own aura directly. It's rather weak, and quickly fading. While it's mostly black with a thirst for destruction, you also notice another lighter aspect, one of freedom and acceptance of finality.

Before you can consider this further though, you notice Yveltal's body starting to curl up into a cocoon, it's remaining life force fading quickly.

"My apologies Ceil, I had forgotten," Xerneas says as he rushes over, the others following behind, "When Yveltal dies, he becomes a cocoon that sleeps for a thousand years, but in addition he releases a wave of energy that will kill all life in the surrounding area."

"But the crystals can-"

"I'm afraid their energy was depleted with that last blast," Xerneas mourns, "I don't have enough energy to protect you all. I'm sorry."

You glance back to the cocoon, a sinister red haze forming around it. Many thoughts race through your mind as you watch it's last speck of aura fade, but you don't have enough time to act on any of them. You can only watch on in the last few seconds.

Hey Xerneas, one quick question. How did you forget about THE FUCKING DEATH WAVE?

In the remaining split second, however, you suddenly hear a noise akin to a church bell, several chimes, and a strange ticking sound, and a massive blue beam of energy crashes into the cocoon. Once it fades, the cocoon, and even the red energy around it seems to be frozen perfectly in place.

Looking back over to where it came from, you spot a massive blue beast covered in metallic spikes, as well as a strange orange and teal being floating in the air next to it, though you also spot Celebi zipping through the air towards you.

"Celebi?" you ask, "Great timing, but what took you so long, and who are they?"

"Well, I went to the future to get a someone strong who could go missing without notice, which was him," Celebi communicates to your mind, "Unfortunately, Dialga showed up to try and stop me, and he took quite a bit of convincing."

"Ah, I see," you nod, "Wait, you're speaking to me now?"

"Just something I managed to negotiate for," Celebi giggles, "Figured I'd try to explain anything before I have to spend a few years not fiddling with anything."

"You did all that for us?"

"Yep," Celebi smiles, "Now there's just one more thing to do." Celebi reaches out a hand to your face, and with a sudden bright flash of light, you find everything exactly where it was, save for Dialga and that other creature. Yveltal's cocoon is no longer glowing, though the surrounding landscape does appear like it has gone off.

"Where...when are we?" you ask.

"A few seconds in the future," Celebi explains, "I just sort of 'skipped' you all over the explosion. Anyway, I've got to go now. It was nice talking with someone for a change!"

"Yeah, I hope to see you again someday!" you reply.

Celebi gives a final nod, before vanishing in another flash of light. Once she's gone, you head back over to the others.

"Ceil! You did it!" Lisa calls out running over and hugging you. Jenna and the rest of your monsters follow closely after her. You're soon peppered with questions concerning what exactly happened and what Celebi said to you, and you take your time answering them all. Once it's settled, you consider what to do next.

"So what are you going to do now Xerneas?" you ask.

"With Yveltal defeated, my first course of action shall be to restore this barren waste to its former glory and aid those harmed by its actions. After that, I suppose I shall find new places to bring life unto."

With those final words, Xerneas strides off towards the distance, grass springing in it's wake.

"Sorry about stealing all the glory," you say to Keldeo, "It was the only thing we could do."

"It's okay Ceil," he laughs, "I'm used to working as a team. Besides, there will always be another battle for justice!"

"Are you going to take the others with you?"

"Perhaps, I'll ask them about it later," Keldeo muses, "They're quite the courageous bunch."

"By the way Bisharp," you say to the monster, showing him your scabbard, "I'm sorry, but our two blades are rather...attached now."

He raises a hand and shakes his head, signaling that he doesn't mind.

"Thanks," you reply, him giving a salute in return. You feel a tugging on your sleeve, and turn to see Scyther standing next to you.

"Thanks for your help two Scyther, you've really improved," you say patting it on the head. It huffs in response, but doesn't seem to mind you petting it regardless.

Eventually, you say your goodbyes, Keldeo and his group heading off as well.

"We should probably go tell the king about what happened, huh?" Lisa suggests.

"Right, let's go tell the king," you nod, heading back over to where Thomas was.

"There you all are!" he calls out, "That was a magnificent battle!"

"You saw it?" Lisa asks.

"Indeed," he replies, pulling out a telescope, "Luckily I brought this. I was expecting to see Yveltal, though I had no idea that Dialga would show up as well, or that other orange monster. I've never even read about anything like that."

"Yeah," you agree, "Anyway, we still need to inform his Majesty about this."

"Right," Thomas nods. Once you all finish saddling up, you head for the capital, landing on the balcony, where it seems the king is waiting.

"Ah, Ceil," he says, "You've returned. I trust the reports of that cloud vanishing mean you were successful?"

"Quite," you reply, giving a slight bow, "Xerneas, Celebi, and Keldeo were all willing and able to assist us."

"Excellent," he nods, "I'll see to your reward later. Right now, I have a message to send."

With that, the king leaves with his guards.

"Well, I guess that settles that then," Lisa smiles, "Is there anything else you wanted to take care of?"

Jesus that's a huge fucking vambrace. The metal would be better used in a small breastplate/pectoral. There is plenty of it to make a decent covering for her chest.

Hastati and equally poor troops or skirmishers often had them when they couldn't afford much more or didn't want to get slowed down. Also, that leather might also be better used on her torso too. It wouldn't help much, but more than on her arm.

I guess it might also be usefully used as backing for brigandine, although that would require more material than seems to really exist on her costume.

"One last thing your majesty," you call out, "Can you tell us what this means for the war?"

"Well, what I'm planning to do," the king says turning to you, "Is simply inform the rulers of Vallough that Yveltal was defeated thanks to the combined might of three legends, and let them draw the conclusion that I have three legends under my command."

"But you don't," you say, "Celebi is gone, and Xerneas and Keldeo have left."

"Perhaps," he smiles, "But they don't know that, do they?"

You grin as you realize what the king had in mind. If this bluff was successful, it might mean an end to the war entirely.

"Now, if you'll excuse me," the king nods.

"Let's go home," you say.

The three of you drop off Thomas before going back to your hometown, introducing Jenna to your parents. They're rather understanding of the situation, and more than happy to let her stay. Thanks to Salamence, she still gets to see her other friends fairly often as well.

You did suggest to her the possibility of wishing her parents back, which she considered for quite a while before ultimately deciding against it, wanting them to rest in peace. She had already grown rather attached to you and Lisa as well.

A few weeks later, you had hear the formal announcement of the peace treaty ending the war, and the King sent you a letter explaining the details. It seems that he didn't even have to make his bluff as the Vallough had merely folded at the thought of anyone who could defeat a legendary. The letter also came with a rather hefty sum of gold for your reward, which you invested soundly.

In addition to that, you and Lucario continued your aura training, mostly in your hometown, though occasionally you took journeys to other locations to help improve your skills. You even manged to teach Frogadier the proper way to use his aura pulse, though he seemed to still prefer flinging it.

With how much time you spent together traveling, it was only a matter of time before you and Lisa decided to get engaged. The wedding is in a few months, and you can hardly wait. With all the troubles over, you had plenty of time to relax, though there were still plenty of adventures to be had.

You still attempted to teach Lisa and Jenna how to use aura every now and then. Lisa never really got the hang of it, but Jenna picked up on some of the basics.

There were often rumors about a strange team of monsters roaming the land fighting villainy, led by a legendary sword of justice, though no one could ever confirm it. Save for you, who occasionally ran into them on your travels, sometimes sparring with the members.

Maggie, Lyna, and Shannon all continued their quiet life in the forest, though you did stop by more often thanks to Salamence. Shannon even went along with you once to meet Jenna's other friends, having a great time doing so.

Gardevoir returned to her home in the forest, the newly fortified barrier easily keeping her and her kin safe. You made sure to stop by every so often, though it helped that she still maintained the psychic link you had formed.

On your flights to the forest, you occasionally passed by Salamence's old roost. He never seemed to eager to return, preferring the open air. He did decide to go in once though, coming back with a smug grin.

>>39498960
Your skills in aura are of some renown, although most of the attention you get is from the occasional noble who stops by to ask for an aura reading. You manage to make a fair bit of business that way, though otherwise your skills aren't in high demand. That said, you sometimes enjoy the relative peace an quiet.

>>39499027
Frogadier eventually changed form into Greninja in the months following your wedding, and you keenly remember it crying the first time it saw it's reflection. After it changed however, it did improve it's abilities greatly, perfecting it's thrown water pulse into a sharpened blade, and even developing a new aura ability of a blast of darkness.

Throughout the years Ceil often wandered and waited expecting to see a sign of Celebi, though nothing ever did. That is, not until twenty years, and she was very happy to see Ceil after her long absence. The two of you stayed friends over the many long years, and though she still didn't speak, the two of you felt nothing more needed to be said.

>>39499119
You came across many more monsters in your travels, befriending several of them as well. Most of them decided to go their own ways, though you saw many again during your wanderings. You hadn't truly encountered any other legendaries, though occasionally you'd ask Jirachi where one was for some 'sight-seeing'.

You and Lisa briefly considered adopting Jenna, though considering the rather small age difference, you decided against it, having your parents adopt her instead. It was mostly a matter of legality though.

>Couldn't Celebi time travel back after she was ungrounded to when we were younger and hang out?

Technically, but since you don't remember her doing so...yeah...time travel is weird.

Thomas continued living his life of nobility, gathering a bit of attention due to his stories and details of the legendaries he met. He eventually settled down with a nice noblewoman, though he and his sister also kept in touch with you.

You did eventually decide to begin the journal you were planning, sketching and writing down information on the various monsters you met. Most of them were rather lacking in detail, often only listing the basics. A few of them you manged to go into more detail such as diet, and you occasionally cross referenced your notes with other research tomes, but for you it was only a hobby. Completing such a record would be a life's work.

Well, I had considered doing a pokemon quest set in another time period, though the only three I thought of would be doing prehistoric, early 1900s, or the future. Never really settled on which one would work best.

I was also thinking of doing a quest based on Metabots, which could be pretty fun, though I don't have as much details or plans on that.

In a different vein, I had an idea for a superhero quest in the DC universe, though I'm not sure if I could do it justice.

Lastly was something more off-the-wall, which was a Magical Girl Firefighters quest.

Other than that, I also know a fair bit of details about the Megaman series and universe as a whole, though I don't even know where to begin with a quest on that.
>>

Doing a quest as a robot master might be fun. Throw in some base management on top of robot master shenanigans.
