Your eyes shoot open and you look around the room. There are squares, shapes, shadows, figures, dimensions you can not understand, yet that follow your will to—okay, hold on things were out of focus. Let me just wiggle some stuff. “Because of the Old One stuff?” You ask, concerned. What? Oh, nah, you looked like you would be out for a while so I started rewiring up here. Got those little like, plastic arches you nail into the wall to keep some of the stuff in order, but I had to take some stuff out to make things more orderly. Got some zip ties and everything, it’s pretty sexy up here. “I’m always sexy!” Bollocks, you don’t know piss about that.

You are about to say something else when your vision goes back to normalish, and you see you are in the back of Asmodeus’ club. Your eyes shift around and you feel something cold on your forehead. You reach up and find it is a freezy pop! Asmodeus must have been at a loss for what to do, and put a frozen treat on your forehead to make you feel better. “What flavor is it?” You ask tearing off the top. Pink flavored. “Pink flavor is the best.” You hum happily sucking the delicious pinkness out of the ice.

Standing up, you feel a bit weird so you look at your sheet and…

That’s probably not good. You search for your grace, but find nothing there save the soft humming of a void that glares back at you. You ignore that for now and go into the club. Asmodeus is behind the bar looking through her things. You clear your throat to get her attention and she looks up at you with a smile that hurts like someone chewing on your eyeballs until you orgasm. Sadly you have no idea about the last part, but it makes sense to them. “Risa, are you feeling better?”

That certainly doesn’t sound like you. “Sorry, I ate something bad and I get sort of weird when I eat something bad. I am sure it will balance out.” Or you will be devoured by the madness from beyond. “Or that.”

She huffs a little while carefully cutting the tips off of the freezie pop things. “Would you like to stay here until you settle down? I would hate for you to lose control and destroy something important.”

Come on, you feel great right? A few more errors in your brain pats won’t make too much of a difference. Plus you sort of want to see Caede, maybe she became cuter, and you do need to make sure Lucifer hasn’t gone totally crazy and like, stolen your stuffed animals or something. You look at her concerned look and say…

You sort of want to check up on Caede’s cuteness, but at the same time you are not certain—you cough up a chunk of writing darkness that stabs you in the face. You fall on your back, struggling against the creature as it mutilates you, then you open your mouth wide and swallow the black twisted thing back down. You cough as it wiggles, then your inside parts turn it melon flavored. It made you drop your ice thing! That bastard! You crawl over to the bar and pull yourself back up, your eyes regenerating a bit too fast for your comfort. “I think I will stay here. Yeah, staying here seems good.”

“Well, I don’t mind you staying here. Here, have another freezie pop.” That’s what those are called! She hands you one and you suckle on the ice, your eyes glazing over slightly as you mindlessly remove the juice from the ice, like it was blood and you were some sort of hickey vampire thing. I don’t know, my head hurts.

“Wait, shouldn’t that be your head hurts?” You ask.

“My head feels fine. Did you eat too fast?” Asmodeus asks.

“No, hold on. I’m getting confused.” You’re a confused. “Azzy, what should we do while we wait for—“ You pause and smell your brain boil as small tentacles rip apart your mind, ten retreat through a portal where entropy means nothing. You regenerate, but everything feels sort of off? You don’t know. “—me to get better?” You finish.

“I wanna swim.” You say with a twinkle in your eye. Or tentacle, who knows?

“Well, I do have a pool.” Asmodeus explains with a serious look. “But is it fine? I thought it was dangerous to swim after eating.”

“Freezie pops don’t count!” They so do. “I’m sure it will be fine!” You’re going to cramp and drown and it will be all your fault. “Swimsuit Risa transformation go!” Your chest explodes, the ribs jutting out like wild teeth. They break back and swallow you whole, your body ripping and tearing under the hard, sharp ministrations of your own power.

The pillar of bone and gore crystallizes, and you are locked in place for a moment, then you feel something rip and your body stumbles out of the cocoon wearing a bikini. That probably wasn’t normal. Normally you just spin right? “It’s fine. Risa cats are good at swimming.” There is an eye in your lung.

You stagger after Asmodeus, using your shapeshifting to shove chunks of Risa meat into the small portals opening up inside of your body. It is an effective method to keep yourself under control, you think. She leads you to a room near the back of the club. There is a large pool, lit with gentle red lights. The room itself is a little chilly, and you note thee is a gentle steam rising from the pool. In the corner there is a Jacuzzi humming away with bubbles, and much more steam. The cold air dances over your skin, and you let out a small shiver as your skin goes gooseflesh. The ceiling has what looks like a chunk of the night sky torn out and placed on it, with the distant twinkling of stars making the whole thing fairly nice looking. You hear a crack, then you wiggle your arm back into place.

You hop into the pool, and the warm water grinds the cold away that was clinging to our bones. You pop your head out of the water, and gently paddle around while Asmodeus watches with a smile. “Is it fine?”

“Yes!” You say doing your dog paddle around the pool and making risa swimming noises. “You are doing a pretty half assed narration there.” I am trying to keep old one off the rugs. Sue me!

You kick your Risa feet, and feel like your toes might explode. Would that make you go faster? Risa cats like going fast. Risa cats sometimes lose control of their feet. “I think I am having a psychotic break.” You realize, floating in the water with a strange look. The water tickles your hollow hole.

“Are you okay?” Asmodeus wonders.

“You should join me!” You say paddling around. “Swimming alone is lonely.” That is like saying a round sphere. “Shut up. Swim with me Asmodeus. Take your place in the circle of life.”

“Oh, get on then. Fine, fine.” She walks behind one of those paper screen things and you hear a shuffling of clothes.

You narrow your gaze and feel the darkness inside of you. You are a predator, the most deadly thing in the ocean. A hunter with no measure, you were born to devour, and all the other fishes will obey. You would reach for a Swedish fish to get into character, but eating in the pool is dangerous and you don’t much trust this swimsuit if you are being 100% honest. She steps from behind the cover, and you know what must be done.

You feel pain in your mind as the Old Risa tries to wiggle through your grace bits, and you know you are too in character. A trail of tentacles trail behind you in the pool as you slither around under the water where Asmodeus slipped in, and mouths open along your back spewing curses that unravel the water into its base hydrogen and oxygen, then disperses them into the air. You are become death.

You get behind Asmodeus as the choir on your back chants the jaws theme, you open your mouth and—

The Cane Toad, an ugly, loud pest, secretes a milky white bufotoxin in response to external stimuli. Humans, in their infinite wisdom, decided that licking these toads was a great plan that would only end will for them. They do hallucinate, but in the end they sometimes die due to the fact it is a poison. Why do I feel this segue is important, you wonder? Because right now you feel like the first person to see one of these toads in the wild and decide it was a good idea to lick it.

The sudden bite causes her to let out a surge of grace into your unfiltered mind. Your pupils turn into heart shapes, from both her power and the massive trauma that you are now going through, and you feel just, just everything. The water running over your skin feels like tongues made of the bones of your worst enemy’s children, and you made him watch as you debone them. The taste of water and azzy in your mouth is like a trillion stars laughing as they explode at once, a great cosmic joke at the expense of ten trillion worlds that get the joke, and shiver in pleasure. It feels like you are made of the best steak dinner you ever had. Every cell in your body is dividing and shifting so fast, and you feel every bit of it, and it is amazing. The electrons around your atoms shift and move in a radius around the nucleus, and you can feel the quantum existence. It feels amazing

You want to do unspeakable things to a cactus, then drink it which, for you, is saying something. You pass out. You do that a lot.

You open your eyes on Azzy’s couch, a blanket over you. You look over and see the red haired woman tilting her head. You are about to say something when she lightly swats you on the head with a rolled up newspaper. “Don’t bite people. It’s rude.”

“I was a shark.” You object.

“And you bit me, then drooled on my sofa.” She says.

You look at the sofa. That seems to check out. You feel like the old one is currently confused, and your grace is starting to shimmer back into existence in the small gap in the confusion. “Well, that cleared my sinuses up at least.”

“Well, I am glad you feel better.” Asmodeus huffs.

You regret nothing.

“I did just get sort of combobulted back, but, say, mind if I get another quick nibble on you? I think I almost found out one of the truths of the universe.” You wonder and she frowns.

“If you keep this up I won’t give you any more freezie pops.” She says, and you realize that there is more at stake here than you thought possible.

You make a fussy sound, then push yourself back up. You give a testing spin, but your transformation scene is a no go, so looks like you will be going back to the shrine in your swimsuit. Bother. “Want to help me kill a waffle sandwich seller?” You ask

“No. Why would I do that? Are his sandwiches no good?” She asks.

“Never tried them myself.” You admit.

“Well, doesn’t feel very right then, does it? You can’t just kill a sandwich seller without trying their sandwiches, now can you?” She asks.

Why did you even want to kill them anyway? “Well, that’s true I suppose. Guess I may as well go see how the rest of the shine is doing. You fancy coming with?”

You slip around the troubling stairs of your shrine, giving the waffle sandwich truck a glare as you do, you don’t trust that thing in the slightest. You slip into the shrine, and then look over at the room where Caede is. Something feels… off. Sort of very off. You walk over to the door and press it in, then get barreled back by a great explosion of hellfire. You clip the ground, then slam into the wall of the building opposite of you with a laugh. Your go juice is flashing red. That means it is extra good!

You look into the building and see a small, adorable form stumble out, pulsing with hell born energies. She looks up, and screams, then a massive pillar of flame engulfs her body. You see her form shimmer and twist in the fire, and you start playing music for her to evolve to. “Caede is changing! Doot do doot do!”

You like how it is like animal fighting meets slavery.

Hollow Quest Redux 127 End. Not really feeling it, so I am going to call it here. Around for questions, concerns, comments, etc. for a bit as normal. Appreciate people trying to keep conversation going in between posts, it is nice to see.
