Okaba mentioned lifelock before. Aura was lifelocked with him, but he removed that as soon as he was able to. Basically, if the master dies, the slave dies. There's even quite a few notes about it in one of Okaba's old journals.

that takes me back about 15 years, to a very old reader's Digest joke, where two guys meet at an airport, and one asks the other for his fancy watch

"Yeah, it can tell time all around the globe, predict the weather, give me emergency shocks in case of heart arrest, shoot electrical shots at attackers, signal off my global position in case of emergency, contact 911, fill up my taxes and resist shocks, blows, and up to 2 miles depth underwater"
"Oh, thats amazing. Say, why do you have so many suitcases with you?"
"No, no, only one is baggage, the other three are the batteries for the clock"

I think its fun how nowadays we have phones and clocks with even more functions.
